Can you carry in food like PB&J sandwiches, snacks, etc? We need to cut corners wherever we can and are not staying on property so we can't go back to hotel to eat.

They do inspect bags on the way in. The most that has ever been said to me is "would you mind sharing those doritos?"
You should be fine.

Bringing in food is no problem at all. It seems like almost everyone in the security lines is bringing in at least some, and some are bringing in bags full.

We always being in PB&J sandwiches. Not to cut corners, but because my 5 year old DD is a picky eater. {{sigh}} We also bring in water bottles, fruit snacks and other munchies.

No problem at all. We bring a small cooler on the back of DS's wheelchair and a bag full of all sorts of edibles. Except for a joke or two about sharing, as mentioned above, no comment at all during the security check.
I believe they frown on glass items, so avoid them, but glass baby food jars are OK.

One morning while entering the MK, the woman a few people in front of us seemed to be taking forever to get thru security.....turns out she had full JARS of PB and Jelly, two full loaves of bread, a huge bag of chips, and several beverages. They made her take them back to her car. I overheard them say it was *too* much.
We take bottles of water for each of us, a few small snacks (granola bars etc) but that adds enough weight to our back packs.

I'm not sure what constitutes "too much". I've taken a nearly full loaf of bread, a full package of lunchmeat and an oversized bag of chips along with cookies and drinks for the six of us with no problem.

I saw them turn away folks with beer, but other then that.... Perhaps the Peanut butter and jelly were in glass jars. That would be too much!

We've taken in bagels and fruit cups for late breakfests or crackers for snacks
Never had a problem....
(i do think some people go overboard though.. We were at the diamond horseshoe review once. We had bought a couple sandwiches there at the review. There was a family next to us though with pretty much a whole picnic though with fried chicken/fresh fruit/etc that was obviously brought in.... but that was before 9/11 and the security checks)
