Hi my family and I are plannig 2 trips to wdw with in 6 months so we have decided that the AP pass is the best way to go. My question is.... Are the passes good from date of purchase or from date of first use? Id there any discounts on resorts if we have the AP pass? Any info would be great thanks!

Good choice going with the AP! The AP runs for a year from the first day of USE. So you can purchase them whenever.
Also, there ARE AP resort discounts at SOME resorts SOMETIMES. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you WHEN there have been historically. I am sure that some of our AP holders can help you out there...

AP discounts are more apt to be had when there is a need to sell rooms--so you've got a better chance at getting one during Value and Regular seasons, usually none are available during Peak season. Jan 2- Feb 14 are the current AP discount dates, although they can extend to March 10, then Spring Breaks kick in, and the resorts are full up. But it doesn't hurt to keep trying!
