I have always wondered how far in advance other people pack. I am so tempted to start packing the bathing suits and shorts since the cold northeast winter has set in and we wont be wearing them anymore!!
I have collecting little non food items for the trip (shampoo, soap, cups and bowls) since July and my packing list has been done and revised numerous times!!!!

When do you all start packing???

I started packing in January for our April trip. I plan to do the same thing next year (were going in April again) I have a small box that I toss everything in as I purchase them. It helps to keep the excitement going. It also helps to spread the cost out over several months. By starting early, I'm less likely to forget the little things.

I leave next Tuesday and I haven't even started! lol

Generally I pack the evening before and sometimes the morning of. Easy for me to do as I only have to pack for myself.

I think it depends on the time of year you will be traveling. For our November trip, we packed general vaction/family care items about 2 weeks before, things we knew we'd need (socks/undies) the week before, but waited to get the weather forecast before packing more.

hope this helps.

We leave on Sunday and so far I've packed our toiletries, sunblock stuff like that. I probably won't pack our clothes until Friday.

Since I'm still wearing things that I'll be bringing, I haven't started yet, and I leave Friday morning! I'll start tonight when I get home from work. BF's stuff is easy, since he wears uniforms for work, I'll just do his laundry and pack straight from the dryer. I'll start packing my stuff too.

No matter the trip, I really don't get started until one or two days before I leave. I just travel with too much stuff that I use everyday or wear constantly. But I do make packing lists and try to get as organized as possible, so when I do start, it will go verry quickly and I wont' forget anything.

We're going in Feb. and I got a couple of the plastic tote boxes, one for clothes and one for everything else. I have gathered the clothes (summer ones which we will not be wearing before the trip) and put them in the box. A few days before we leave I will wash them and then pack. That way they will be "fresh". I gather other stuff, travel size toiletries, games, activities for kids as I see it and put it in the other tote. I'm hoping by Feb everything will be packed and all I will have to do is wash the clothes and I'll be set. :flower:

I'll probably start tonight. My DW is already packed a full suitcase and is looking for room in mine.

I start packing for my next trip as soon as I get back from the last one!

I have stuff that I only use at WDW which stays in my suitcase year-round.

The rest of it starts going into the suitcase a week or two before departure. The bulk of my clothes go directly into the suitcase after the last laundry day. My final packing is done the morning of departure, as I dump my toothpaste and toothbrush in.

We start packing two days before because by then we will have the shopping and laundry completed and everything just needs to go into the luggage.

I have already started getting some things together for our February trip, I probably won't actually put it in the suitcases until the day before we leave.

I usually start packing two days before departure, putting most things in the day before departure. However I am constantly updating my packing list that I keep in MS Word linked to my Palm Pilot. So I guess I plan my packing weeks ahead of time, but don't execute until right before we go. I pack for four people, and usually have to buy someone something like socks, so I need to plan ahead.

We leave on Wednesday and I haven't started yet! I have to pack for myself and 3 kids as DH is deployed and not going on this trip. Guess I should soon think about packing!

I start making lists about 60 days out but I don't actually pack until 3-7 days before (depending on who's going). As February is cold in NY all shorts, swimsuits etc have been washed and packed away for the winter. I very easily just take the clothes from the boxes and put them into suitcase (well, after making the kids try them on to see if they still fit, LOL).

Enjoy your trip, I sure will.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!!!!!!! princess:

I usually think about starting for a week before...but don't actually ever do any packing until the night before or the morning of. I'm such a procrastinator.

Time: Last Oct. (2003)
Place: My home
Me surrounded by suitcases and clothes. DH enters.
DH: What are you doing?
Me: Packing.
DH: Oh, to go to your mom's for T-giving?
Me: No.
DH: Are you packing for family Christmas already?
Me: No.
DH: (with suspcious raised eyebrows) You are not packing for our February trip to Disney, are you?
Me: Well....mumble, mumble, mumble
DH: You are sick.
Me: I know.

Last trip, 10/29-11/7, I packed the day before we left. I had just been busy with work and other obligations. I made a list of things I wanted to be sure to take, but the actual packing took place the day before. I rarely pack more than a couple of days in advance for any trip. Packing really isn't all that difficult and only takes a half hour or so. Plus we hate having the suitcases sitting around in our way for days before the trip.

We leave in 2 weeks from tomorrow and I haven't started yet. Have to check the weather in Fla. to see what its like there. It has to better than here in gloomy, rainy, cold, NYC!

I'll definitely be doing last minute packing. Living in Tampa, we just don't have that many pants. I have to wait to see if we're going to need them before the trip. :confused3 If we all had lots of clothes, I start packing now. :hyper:

Ha Ha....DisneyMom5....a kindred spirit! Ever since we decided in Sept 04 that we are going Feb 05, I have been putting things away. Whenever I see a little something for the trip down or while there, I buy it (or grab it from the house) and stash it in rubbermaid bins. My excuse is that we are camping, and I have to organize everything for our new camper for 2 families for 2 weeks.....In reality I just can't wait to go. I haven't actually packed clothes yet, but the list has been started for all the things I can't put away yet.....=)

Why bother? Do it all at once. And I always do it the night before if I'm going to be staying somewhere.

We leave in 7 days and I haven't even started. I did, however, make a list (Christmas Tree for hotel room, etc). I'll check on the weather next week but still plan to bring a little of everything, mostly layering stuff.

Wow! Isn't that something how everyone does it so differently?

I start laying things out on the dining room table about 2 and a half weeks before we leave. They go from there into the suitcase two nights before we leave.

Of couse since I'm so neurotic - if I'm doing laundry I might throw in one or two things already in the to be packed pile to "freshen them up"!

I always think I am going to pack 2 weeks in advance just for the sheer excitement but I always end up finishing packing into the wee morning hours the day we leave.

I honestly never unpack my Disney suitcase! I'm always ready for that 'last minute' Disney trip! (in reality, a place where I rarely go....I do unpack from other trips I take, but never my Disney suitcase...)
