Who all is staying at POP the weekend of the marathon?

I know geety, TigerLily03, tw1nsmom and RachelQ and I are. Anyone else? And when do you all arrive?

I'll be arriving on Friday afternoon/evening (unless there's trouble when I finally book my flight) and staying for three nights. Moving to Wildnerness Lodge on Monday for three nights after that.

Hoping there will be a Saturday breakfast for all the WISHERS somewhere. At the very least we can all meet for the bus ride over on Sunday morning. Speaking of which, the materials say the first bus is at 3AM and you MUST be on the 4AM bus at the latest to make race start.....but I wonder how many buses there will be in that hour? I was hoping to only have to WAKE UP at 3AM

We can make POPmeet arrangements as it gets closer......but now we have a thread to discuss it on!

edited to add: Have you requested a specific building/decade on your reservations? I still need to call on mine, but nativetxn gave me a few room numbers in the 50's building from which you can see the topmost fireworks for Illuminations and Wishes. (Though, come to think of it....I'll be out watching those or partying anyway.)

Hi Jackie!

You already know that I'm staying at Pop, but I thought I'd let you know when we'll be there. We're staying at the airport Hyatt on the 6th and will check into POP sometime on the 7th (probably by early afternoon). We won't check out until the 13th. I'm planning on sleeping until 3am the morning of the marathon. I wake up fairly quickly and I'll have everything laid out and ready to go. It shouldn't take me more than 10 minutes or so to get out the door. As long as we make that last bus at 4am we'll be fine. If we miss it (which we won't), we could call a cab and pile in together for a ride to the start.

Hi! I'm not a Wisher (just a lurker) but... I'm staying at POP marathon weekend, too!
:flower1: I'll be there with my family, DH, DD8 and DS7. I took the kids to POP for a tester in October, at least that was my excuse, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. With a little :wizard: I will be running the marathon.

Not staying at POP--but I have been told that quickie service will be open in the food courts--no cooked to order food, though :( .

Team in training wants us up at 2am and ready to board the busses at 3am...just FYI...so the 3-4am bus hour is TRUE (ugggghhh!!!).

But if you are up for just throwing your clothes on and grabbing your bag--you can get up closer to 3am :)

I would say as long as you are in line--if they can't squeeze everyone onto that 4am bus--I don't think they will leave you waiting..another bus will be sent. Busses will continue to run through the morning b/c they do have spectators and such! Just FYI...it is the fulls and halfs that need to be on the bus by 4am. If any of your family is watching the start--they gotta be on, I think by 5am or be there by 5 or something like that. Preference, of course, for transportation is given to those clutching those valuable racing numbers.

Something for the packing list--don't forget the safety pins!

ACK! Lisa you are a wealth of information! I never thought to bring safely pins! I really do need to start a list. (BTW, which GPS did you get?)

Karen - LOL! It is fine for you to lurk on the POP thread. We welcome everyone, right gals?

Jackie, we have an AP rate for a preferred view room, so we will be in the 60s building I believe. My sister and I in one room (Half Walkers). My friend Elizabeth and her sister in another (Half Walker/Runners). In the 3rd room, 2 friends and their sons - one of these friends will be working Water Station #9! Woo hoo!

Details: We are checking in on Thursday, Jan 6th in the afternoon and leaving on Monday, Jan 10th. We will have a car, so if I miss the bus, I guess we can just pile in and drive over!

yep--you'll need them for your racing number--the race I was in yesterday--they weren't included with my packet--so I had to provide them from home--not sure on what Disney has planned--but it is one less thing to track down on race day--just in case they have safety pin bin somewhere that you missed.

I got the Garmin Forerunner 101--it was $99.99--I would have to check with my hubby on the specific web-site. I saw the 201 at Super Target--it is $150. It does have a few more features--I don't know what they are..but for the novice runner/novice non-techno weenie in me--the 101 is perfect!

Sorry to bother again--

Did you ladies find out if Disney is having their Pasta Dinner after all?

Lisa- I ahve called about the spaghetti dinner and as far as I can find out, there is nothing planned. They did say to try asking about it in December though.

Thanks--I was just curious. Leukemia Team in Training is doing one. A lady I know that has done Disney before told me that all restaurants are required to carry a high carb meal item on their menus. This was the case when she participated the last time (I think the year before last--she was pregnant last year's marathon).

Perhaps your Dis Marathon Meet should be at a restuarant with Italian Cuisine--YUM!!

I will stop hijacking your thread now--looks like our group wants to move their entire stay over to POFQ. I dont know how or why I, as the participant, became my family's Disney vacation planner. As if I'm not busy enough already  . Hubby doesn't want to add Thursday night either :(, so I will be getting up early 2 days in a row, followed by a day of getting up obscenely early. Grumble!!

DH and I arrive on the 7th at 10.30pm, we will pick up a hire car and then navigate our way over to POP.

We haven't requested any specific building, Jackie if you have any suggestions let me know.

We are at POP for three nights, on Monday morning we move to the Beach Club for 2 nights (Dh's belated anniversary and birthday gift, only he doesn't know it yet!), and then on Wednesday morning we move to Wildnerness Lodge for the last 4 nights. We leave on Sunday 16th.

I am planning on getting up at the last possible minute and being on a 4am bus, not a 3am bus. I will shower before I go to bed, and I will have my hair in a ponytail and a hat on, so it won't take me long to get ready.

After the 1/2 will a different story......walk, stretch, eat, drink, walk some more, eat, drink, cool down in swimming pool, drink some more, then warm shower, then nap until I wake up of own accord. And of course I will have napped with wet hair from the shower, so I will need to shower again to sort the hair out, and then get dressed. By which time DH will be thoroughly unamused, and twitching his legs wanting to do something, but he won't go off and do something on his own. Personally I plan on waking up in time to congratulate myself at the Adventurers Club, and the Comedy Warehouse.

Remember to BRING YOUR RACE NUMBER to Pleasure Island, so you can get in free AND buy up to 3 half price tickets for your family/friends.

Apparently the FAMILY MEET UP TENTS at the end of the race will be labled alphabetically. Should we all meet at the W's???? What do you think? I'll ask this question on the training thread too.

Jackie, I will be staying at BWV. However, I can visit as needed.
I hear there is marvelous chocolate cake to be had somewhere there. :D

.
:earseek: CHOCOLATE CAKE you say???? At POP??? I'll be trying some of that, um after the race that is! Let see, that makes moose crunch/zeba domes at Boma, Grapefruit Cake at Brown Derby and chocolate cake at POP Food Court. I'll need another marathon before the week is out to work off all the 'celebrating'!

HEY EVERYBODY....I'm assigned to come up with a Saturday breakfast WISH meet. I'll start a thread on it after I do some initial investigations, but if anybody has ideas and suggestions...I'd love to hear them.
