I heard (can't remember where) that a new water coaster type ride is being built in Typhoon Lagoon. Is this true? Does anyone have any info on it? :flower:

This from screamscape

(11/17/04) Disney announced at last their Master Blaster waterslide project that will open in Spring 2005. There will be three new slides a part of Hideaway Bay, a whole new themed area of the park. They describe the new attraction as a combination of steep drops and gravity defying “coaster-like” inclines where you are powered uphill by water jets. Riders will travel through what appears to be a rusted out tropical fruit facility, weaving the rides through the wreckage of the fruit plants old wash facilities. There will be three different “fruit spillways” to choose from: Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher and Pineapple Plunger. Each of the three slides will be aproximately the same length... between 410-420 feet. (For reference, these are about half the length of the Master Blaster at Schlitterbahn’s Blastenhof tower complex).

cool. Wonder whether you will need to sit on rafts/tyres ?

They have at least two of these here in Texas at waterparks. I rode one this summer with my nephew. You sit in a raft and it is just like a roller coaster. What propels you up is a stream of water so basically you get blasted from behind. It is definetly worth experiencing once, however if the theming is just not phenominal I will not be riding the one at TL.

This sounds excellent. Any idea as to what ages it is geared towards? Would it be for families or only for teens ++ ? pirate: :boat:

there was a long thread a while back on the theme parks board about it.

As for age, the ride is designed by the same company that designs/owns the 2 Schlitterbaun parks in TX. We were at the park on South Padre island, and DD who was 6 at the time could ride all of the slides.

It will be ridden with a tube.

Can't wait!

If this is the ride we noted while visiting on December 8, it looks like it is pretty well under way. As you approach Typhoon Lagoon, it is on the right hand side of the entrance. It looked far enough away from the park that I initially questioned whether it was a new ride at Typhoon Lagoon, or a new waterpark being built. I surmised that Disney would never build one water park right next door to another. The ride looks huge with many enclosed tubes and seems to wind around in many different directions. Sorry I don't have a picture.
