:cool1: how about brown derby? you can arrange to have goofy call him. perhaps mama melrose. you could go to espn for lunch, if he likes sports. good luck!

A 12 year old may really enjoy the Brown Derby, because it's very "grown up"

Brown Derby is a very nice resturant in MGM. If he likes Goofy and you are looking for a character meal Chef Mickey's ususally has Goofy. I would do something liek that and then take him to Disney Quest and let him play with all the computer games there. I think any 12 year old you LOVE that.

:teleport: the brown derby is patterned after the brown derby of hollywood. actually, the restaurant is named hollywood brown derby. it was "the place" in hollywood in the 40's and 50's. maybe even the 30's!!! the cartitures are hand drawn copies of the originals found at the restaurant in hollywood. everything found in the mgm restaurant is as it would have been in the original. unfortunately, the original is no more. hope this helps! happy birthday to your son.

At 12, my Ds is pretty much out of character meals. He likes the grown up thing with CG his pick last year. AT MGM he likes prime time cafe. The Sci- Fi drive in would be fun too. ESPN is a great choice if he is a sports-atic like my DS. Enjoy the day!!

Instead of a meal why not try a birthday boat ( either an illuminations cruise or the cruise that sails in Bay Lake and watch the MK fireworks). There is a birthday cake and balloons etc. I have done both for my children and they thought it was fantastic. Another idea is to spend time in DisneyQuest for his birthday. This is 12 year olds dream come true. Another idea is a fishing boat.

If you want to do a restaurant...how about Boma's ( and tour the AK resort while you are there) or Japan for a dinner and watch the chef chop and cook your meal( my kids really get a kick out of that). Just a few thoughts:) :flower1:

MY ds is 13 and loves Sci Fi Dine In at MGM. He is also extremely fond of the new BlueZoo restaurant. It is so different than other fine dining restaurants. The atmosphere is unique. I also agree with the other poster about an Illumination cruise.

My DS is also wanted to spend his 12th birthday at MGM and he's a science fiction fan, so we had dinner at Sci Fi. He loved it!

My DS will be celebrating his 12th when we go in August. For his b-day, we are doing Crystal Palace for breakfast so we can walk down Main Street before the park opens and for dinner we are going to Whispering Canyon. His fave restaurant is Sci-Fi though, but we are going earlier in the week. His next fave is Whispering Canyon. We saw a man have a b-day there and it was funny!
