DH and I will be on the 11/25/06 Magic!
Since today is officially two years to go;) I thought it was time to start a thread!!!
Is anyone with us??

We are booked in SPH room 5020! We are going to be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary on board!

..........thanks for starting this thread. We will also be in a SPR. DH, DD11, DS 9, and myself. Couldn't resist the great deal! We go down every November to celebrate our anniversary too. This will be our 19th. Wow, can't believe how the time flys. Have you stayed in a SPR before? They are a bargain. What do you know of the eastern itinerary? We have never been to these ports before. We are looking forward to the western also, which we will be doing in Nov. 05". :wave2:

Well, our last cruise was an Eastern, but I won't be any help with the ports of call! we only got off the ship at castaway cay! We decided to do our spa stuff on the st. maartin and st thomas days.
We have never stayed in a SPH room before. We have had a verandah for our last two cruises, and didn't use it enough either time to justify spending the extra. We were excited to get the SPH though. It will be nice to have a little natural light.

Great to hear the weather was nice! I am having a hard time not talking to my kids about this on a daily basis, since it is so far away! We think we are going to have a Tropical themed Thanksgiving dinner that year with the relatives who are crusing with us, then fly out that night. I am hoping the kids will sleep on the plane after filling themselves with turkey.....

Well, since you are from NH you know what kind of winter we have had! Looking forward to a vaca (even if it is 19 months away) helped to get through it.
I have actually already bought pillow cases to have signed. I was at a family party the other night, my sister-in-law and I spent the evening talking about this cruise (she is the one who went last December and talked us into going).

Yes, New England winters are always fun (and looooooong!)
We have a box that we add things to that we will need for our trips! DH thinks I'm a little wacky whenever I put things in it, but at least they are all in one spot and I don't have to search the house when it comes time to pack.

Just thought I'd say hello again. This thread has been pretty quiet lately.
Have any of you made plans for what to wear on pirates night yet? pirate:
On our 3 day Wonder cruise last month a lot of people were dressed up. We had pirate shirts on but it was a last minute trip so I didn't have time to plan much. Everyone receives a pirate bandana at dinner, but lots of people dress in whole outfits. The crew and characters all get dressed up. It's great. Well that's all for now, hope to hear from some of you soon,

On our Eastern last year it was held on St Maartin night. It was so much fun!!
I have a friend who loves to sew, and she made DH a pirate costume to wear.
He had a blast! He even was selected to participate in part of the deck party entertainment.

I think Feenie has been on the 7 day since the pirates night has started. Maybe she could tell us which night it was on. pirate:

DH was totally excited when He heard about pirate night prior to our last cruise.
My friend can sew, and made him a really great pirate outfit.

He keeps trying to talk me into buying him boots and a captains hat for the 2006 cruises. I told him no way. We don't need to bring a whole extra suitcase for his pirate gear pirate:

Do any of you ladies know where I can find a Peasant style top? I can't find one. :guilty: I may have the wrong name for it, it's a short sleeve blouse with a round neckline that has elastic around it so you can pull it down around your shoulders. I wanted one for my pirates outfit pirate:
I would appreciate any help you can offer. :lovestruc I do not sew, so that is out of the question too. I do have an alternate plan if I can't get one.
I need mine before 12/17/05 :hourglass because we are going on a 7 day disney cruise then with our kids and grandkids.
Thanks for your help.
Well we have wind, thunder and rain already from hurricane Dennis and it's not due until tomarrow. We may get tropical storm winds here, maybe a tornado or two.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Ours will at least be an interesting one.

Hi, all! We just got home from the July 2 West Coast cruise on the Magic to Mexico and have rebooked for 11/25/06. Just wanted to jump in on the thread and say "hi" from California. :wave2:

BTW, our Pirates night pirate: was on Tuesday, which was Puerto Vallarta day. I don't know when it is on other cruises, since this was our first, but they had to do it on a port day because of the fireworks--apparently if they are too far out at sea it doesn't work so well. Too much movement, maybe.

Hi Feenie,
We only had a little extra rain from hurricane Dennis. Much better than last year. Hope our luck can hold all season, we have a long ways to go.
We get thunderstorms every summer that dump buckets on us, that is what is happening here right now. Temps stay around 90 in the day and 77 at night. But when the humidity gets bad it feels like 100 outside.
That's when I try to stay inside in the afternoons if at all possible.
How is your summer weather been? Nice enough to go out and enjoy yourself I hope.

Howdy everyone,
I just found out from DCL that both Wave Bands and Rock n Bar D clubs were made smoke free recently. Now both ships have 2 smoking and 2 non smoking clubs.
For us this is fantasic new because DH is allergic to cigarette smoke. Now we can feel free to enjoy the clubs more without worring about gettin ill.
Just thought i would pass along the news. If you've cruised recently you probably already know about this, but it was new to me.

Hi MomX4, we will be down to 'enjoy' the humidity in about 2 weeks. We are heading to Florida to celebrate my husband's passing of the RN boards - he is offically a nurse! We are taking the kids to Discovery Cove as a surprise - it was a tough 3 years for them, too. Planning this trip has kept me going - 11/25/06 is so far away!!!

Hi snoopy mom,
Congradulations to your DH for passing his test. I remember how hard it was for us when my DH went to college. We had 4 kids at the time. I'm very happy you get to come to Florida to celebrate.
Our temps have been around 90 to 92 everyday, but with the heat index it has been from 100 to 105. Our thunderstorms usually cool it off some in the afternoons, however we havnt had rain for 4 days now and when it comes it has been late inthe evenin g, so it doesnt really help the heat any.
Be sure and bring the sun screen and drink lots and lots of water!!!
Discovery cove is fantastic!!! Your kids are very lucky to be going. We will be at sea world sometime in the next 2 weeks. Our oldest daughter and her family are visiting from Oregon , so we are taking them all over. Today we did Typhoon Lagoon to cool off, we did universal on sunday. Thursday will be gatorland, we are going to do all of WDW, Busch gardens, Cypress gardens, Islands of adventure too. My feet will be very tired by the end of August when they return home. Let us know how you like Discovery cove. I've never heard of anyone being disappointed there yet. Have a great time, :rotfl2:

Hello everyone. We rebooked onboard after our 4 night Wonder in Feb '05 for a 7-nighter on November 25th 2006. We are me (33) DH (36) and DS (4). We are really looking forward to the cruise. We had a GREAT time on the Wonder and think the Magic will be even better. This time, because we will be just cruising (last time was combined with the parks) I am hoping to bring some more 'nice' clothes and get some great pics taken of the family. There are so many photo ops and we have so few pics at home of all of us (all 3 lol). Anyway, I look forward to getting to know everyone and hopefully we can plan some fun stuff to do onboard.

Wow, that is two new families in 2 days on this cruise. that is great. Feenie is right, the longer the cruise the more there is too choose from. We did a 4 day our first trip, then a 3 day, then 2 ,7 day, then 1 more 3 day and one more 4 day. Can't wait till 12/17/05 for another 7 day. So much more to do, it goes by too fast! So when we finish this cruise with you we are staying for another 7 day. 14 days in a row, HEAVEN!!! But It will still go by too quick.
Looking forward to hearing from you as the cruise nears and meeting on board. I know we'll all have a MAGICAL time.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the welcome.

Its my 2nd cruise. I took an NCL cruise on the Dreamward (now called the Dream) back around 1995. I went by myself as a travel agent on the second half of a 14 day repositioning cruise. DH and the kids have never cruised before.

We actually were going to go on the Disney Magic for an Eastern Cruise back in 2000 (I think that was the year). We had a Secret Porthole room booked. It was for the week after Thanksgiving that year too. In Febuary of that year, DS started saying how he would rather go to Disneyworld. He was pretty young then (3 years old I think), so we decided to go there instead. When we arrived in Floriday on Thanksgiving day we found out the cruise for that Saturday had been canceled because of people getting sick. If it hadn't been for him asking to change we would have been at the Radisson at the Port with no reservations for anything else. He saved our vacation.

Dizma- Our kids are pretty close in age (DD14 & DS9-at time of cruise).

I am in the process of shopping around and have a cabin booked at the moment with Dreams Unlimited. Once I finish calling Costco and ****** this weekend we'll put down our deposit. I can't wait till I have my cabin # and deposit in. It will feel real then.

Hi Sarah,
Glad your joining. It will be fun having a nice size group of DIS'ers on board.

We are back! We had a BLAST! I highly recommend DC. It will probably take another 10 years fro me to save the money to go again, but I would do it in a hearbeat. I think I will post more about DC on that thread. It was very hot, but we seemed to manage just fine in the heat. We also dodged any t-storms or rain. What a great trip, it also included 2 SeaWorld days and a Busch Gardens day.

On our way back to the airport, we were a little early so we drove by the cruise terminal!!! How exciting! No ships were in dock, though, it was Monday (8/15). But, it was cool to see the Disney terminal!

FYI - I also have kids aroudn the ages of some of the posters here - DD9 and DS11 (at time of cruise).

Hi Snoopymom,
I'm so glad to hear you had a good time. We just got back from Cypress Gardens a few minutes ago. We are going back on Friday since the ticket is good for 2 days. Then saturday will be Sea World, then company will leave Sunday.
We just bought all our kids lane tickets for this December as we are all going on the Magic on the 17th for the Western cruise. That will be a warm up for our cruise with you. I wish my kids and grandkids could come with us in 2006, my GS is 11 and I'm sure he would of liked to meet your DS.
It has been 105 with the heat index here for 3 days now.
That's way to HOT for me!!!
Take care and tell us about DC when you get the chance.

Hi Snoopymom,

Sounds like you had fun in Florida. We just got back on August 1. We had our best vacation ever this time. Who would have thought since we always stayed away from the Summertime. Our best day was the day we spent in Cocoa Beach. It was actually our second time there during our trip but the first time we hit a storm and DD got stung by a jellyfish. The first trip we saw the Carnival ship and well that's how we decided to go for a Disney cruise next year.
It sounds like your DD and my DS will be the same age when we travel.

Howdy everone,
Well our company has gone back home today. It is so quiet here.
Guess it's time to get busy on cruise stuff.
Have any of you made a room sign or do you have any ideas for a room sign for your door? I have seen many on this board,, but I havnt decided what i want to do yet, so I'm looking for any ideas you might have.
Also I'm thinking about the Pirates costume too. Anyone making one fron ideas instead of buying one at Halloween? I want to create something myslef if possible. I saw a necklace at Epoct last week that was made from the Medallion from the movie, The Pirates of the Carribbean. It looked really neat, I believe it was $10, which isnt too bad, as we have 3 cruises booke dso I could wear it at least 3 times, unless they change the party. But since it's new I think we have 2 or 3 years before they change it again, I hope.
Please let me know if any of you have got any good ideas. I'd love to hear from you.
Well, time to get busy getting my house back to normal, if that's possible?
My house is never really what I'd call normal. Ha! Ha!

Hi mom x4,grandma x4,

As far as room signs go, I haven't even started thinking about that yet. That will be a super fun project to do this winter with the kids. Maybe on a snowy day!!

For the pirates costume, I've definately been thinking about that. My eyes have been open. I found a cute black skirt that had some beading and had pieces of material at the bottom that looks all flowy. That didn't describe it well, lol! It really caught my eye but I'm not sure if I want to spend $35 on a skirt for one night, lol! I'm still thinking. I'm hoping to see what I can find around halloween time. I think I'm going to try to get DH and me to be that for halloween this year and next and let it be a work in progress. We have two halloweens to work on it so that is good.
DS bought a Captain Hook outfit at WDW last November so I'm hoping he somehow still slightly fits into but I know that is Wishful thinking since we still have a year. He is petite though so you never know. He still fits into swim shorts we bought him 2 years ago. DS bought the necklace at MK that you are talking about. I go to WDW for the Marathon in January so I'm thinking about grabing those necklaces for me and DD too. My DD doesn't seem to excited to dress up, so I"m not sure how much I can get her to. She seems to want to wear something "cool" and maybe just put a bandana on or something.

Now you have me thinking. Maybe I'll buy the skirt for halloween!

Hi Melanie,
I'm doing the same thing as you. I keep looking, but then wonder if the price is worth it. I still want to go to a thrift store to see what I might find there. Of course your right, Halloween should produce some stuff. At least for us we have 3 DCL cruises booked and will hopefully book a fourth on this cruise, so we should get lots of use out of our costumes. That helps when considering the price of stuff. I think the pictures I have seen on line of people in their outifts have been great. I love the ones that people have created themselves, not just bought the entire outfit, the best. There are so creative with their ideas. Unfortunatly I'm not gifted that way, but I'm trying.
Your DD must be a teen. That is usually the age group that doesnt want to dress up as much. I'm lucky my GD is 14 and she is excited to dress up when she goes with us in December. Well I've lots to do today, hope you have a great week and keep me posted on any ideas you come up with.

Howdy everyone,
I was just checking in with all of you to see if everyone on thos board was safe. I dont know where most of you are from, so i was wondering if all of us escaped Katrina??? I hope you are all safe and ok. We are fine in Florida as far as Kartina goes, but last night they told us Florida will be having gas and power shortages starting immediately. 1/3 rd of our electricity comes from gas plants in Mississippi and 8 plants are damaged too badly to operate. Most of our stores have turned off outside lights unless they are solar powered and the lights inside are very dim. Today all the lights in the coolers and freezers were off to help conserve energy. Most airconditioning is set up to 78 to 80 to help also, so some public buildings are very warm right now. With our heat index it is 100 to 105 outside for several weeks now, so even 80 feels cool at first. Last night when the President and Governer Bush announced the upcoming shortages the 3 gas stations near us went from no customers to a 2 hour wait. Eventually they sold out and had to close.
This morning while I was out I saw all 3 getting gas delivered, but i dont know if it was regular ( lowest priced) or premium or diesel. Yesterday regular was $2.69 and today it is $3 per gallon. we have been told to expect $5 by the end of the weekend and lots of stations will be closed over the next several weeks due to no gas available, so to conserve all you can.
I dont like the prices, but I would be ashamed of myself if i complained too much, when i think how lucky we are to have food, water and shelter when so many have nothing at all in our neighbors up north. my thoughts and prayers are with them.
Hope you are all well and safe, drop a line and check in so we know that you are all safe.

Hi everyone,

We are in Pennsylvania so we are all safe. I just spent an extended holiday down in Alabama though and I saw many shelters at the local Churchs that were full there. I sure hope everyone is safe and well. I know many are affected.

On a happy note, I booked the Radisson at the Pier for 3 nights prior to the cruise. I was even able to book the shuttle for 10am. Now that's an early booking if I don't say so myself. Its over a year away still! I also asked her if they serve Thanksgiving dinner at the hotel restaurant normally. If I can't find anyplace that serves dinner here, we will probably go over to Chef Mickey's and watch the Dallas game at the bar right outside the restaurant and have dinner there on Thursday. I sure wish it was this year, but hey.........I've already had my vacation this year!

I'm glad to hear your all ok. It is such a horrible thing to happen to anyone.
Well even though our cruise is a 14 months away, I've been getting ready for a 12/17 DCL cruise. I just went shopping today for items to make a door sign for all of our rooms we have booked. I have no idea what I'm doing yet, but it is fun. By the time we cruise with you I should have it perfected.
I also bought some closeout striped pants today that I'm going to fray at the bottom to see if they would make good pirate pants. If not I only lost $6, so that's not bad. I bought my GD a cinderella dress to wear and my GS a pirares of the carribbean pirate outfit. He is only 3 , so it should really look cute on him . Now I have to get a girl pirate out fit for the GD soon. I also bought 3 white short sleeve blouses to put iron on transfers on. I have done this before and it works great.
I'll let you know how it goes. So much to do.

Hi everyone,
Just bumping this up to keep it active. It was on the bottom of page 3.

mom x4,grandma x4 - How fun that you are going on 12/17 of this year. Its killing me this cruise is over a year a way. I'm sure it will go sort of fast. I can't believe Sept is almost over. I hope your pirates costumes turn out. I've been finding a lot of cute skirts I could use but haven't committed to anything yet.

Hi Melanie,
Time will fly by. Our 12/17 cruise was almost 2 years out when we booked, but now it seems like ir has flown by very quickly.
I'm still debating about pirate outfit too. I have an idea for one with pants, and one with a skirt, but I cant decide what to wear. Maybe I should do both, one for each cruise?? Sounds like a good excuse to me to buy both.
I have been working on door signs too, but those I will change for each cruise. I want to put them in my photo/ scrap book after each trip.
Well time to sign off, it was nice to hear from you. Our board has been very quiet for quite sometime. Guess sometimes people dont get as involved until the cruise gets closer. For me, it helps keep the excitement alive!!!

Everyone will be discussing their pirate costumes, and door signs and where we are going to meet on board!!! YIPPEE!!!
My blood is stirring already!!!
I be ready for a pirate party with me ship mates!!!!

P.S. next year we will try and remind each other ahead of time that September 19th is talk like a pirate day. We have a whole year to practice our pirate talk!

Hello all,

DH and I just came back from our 'adults only' trip to POR Sept 18-23. We had a blast!!! We did everything that we couldn't do with our DS (4) there. PI and the Adventurer's Club was awesome, although we had a few too many our last night out and the flight home was a bit rough. LOL - now we remember why we don't bother to drink anymore. Anyway, I figure now I can concentrate on our upcoming cruise :cool1: although I am still trying to convince DH that we should take DS for his b'day in Feb '06. We took him in Feb of this year and had a great time. I have also been hinting at DVC because at this rate we practically would have had our inital 'buy-in' paid off! Oh well, I'll cool it for a bit, maybe lurk on the DVC board, and see if I can really sell it to him around Christmas ;)

I just wanted to mention that we saw the coolest pirate costume outside of the PotC ride at MK. It was of the 'ghost pirates' you see on the ride - complete with ripped up clothes and a 'skelton suit' underneath. Really neat! I am going to check on Disney online after Halloween and see if anything comes on sale. The costume was pricy - around $45 I think - for a kids size and I really don't want to pay that much. Especially given DSs ability to change his mind and refuse to do something if he sets his mind to it - oh the joys of a 4 yo!

Anyway, I am really looking forward to our cruise and hoping to meet others with 4 or 5 yo boys as we get closer to sailing. We are also open to hooking up with tablemates (not in that way - sheesh!! :teeth: ). We are me - 33, DH 36, DS 4 and we are from Toronto Canada. I don't know how to describe us without seeming rude, so let me try it this way - when we were on the Wonder in Feb our tablemates seemed alot older than us. I don't think they really were much older and had a DD about DSs age, but they were really quiet, prim and proper, what I guess I would term boring. We are outgoing, have tattoos, listen to alternative music, like hot rod cars, and can be a bit off-kilter. We are also a loving family who loves the Mouse. So, I guess it would be great to hook up with similar people who could share a laugh and can relate to our lifestyle a bit more than our previous tablemates.

So - hopefully that has not alienated me from the rest of my fellow cruisers, cause I think we are going to have a blast!!!!!

HI Dutchsmommy,
I'm glad to hear you had such a great time. Look on www.disneydirect.com for the costume you were talking about. I bought it there for my grandson a month ago. I dont remember th eprice, but it was much less than at WDW. They also have captain hook. I know some of the costumes are up to 60% off right now because i just got an advertisement yesterday, but I didnt save it. I know for costumes it was free shipping and you can return or exchange costumes prior to halloween if needed. Most costume places wont let you return costumes.
Well we are a bit older than you, but not put off at all by your desciption of you and your family. You sound like a fun family out to really get the most out of life. That is the way to be! I am always getting teased for being like a kid because I love Disney and my house is full of fugurines and stuffed animals which I dress up for different holidays and I'm always hugging all the characters at the parks and on board ship. We too had tablemates that we couldnt connect with. It was terrible. I dont blame them, we were just totally different people. They too were proper people, we are old country folks.
We are "Unrefined" I guess. My grandkids dont believe that I use to ride a motorcycle, and other adventurious stuff. Of course that was many, many years ago.
Looking forward to meeting you and your family on board. Sorry I dont have any young kids, my youngest will be 24 shortly and I wont say how old the oldest one is, but I do have a grandkid who is in her teens and her brother is not far behind. The others are young, but they wont be cruising with us on this cruise. I'm sur eothers will have kids the age of yours.
Glad to meet your family,

Howdy,
My DH called me from work around 10 this morning and said, by the way I booked us a 3 day cruise on the Wonder with a category 4 stateroom. You have 1 1/2 days to get ready to go. Before he could finish I had the birth certificates in hand and was headed to the bedroom to get the suitcases out of the closet to pack. By the time he came home for lunch I was all packed accept the toiletry items which have to go in at the lat minute.
I am ready!!! I'm beginning to wonder about him. This is the second time he has done this to me. No complalints!!! Maybe that grey hair is imparing his judgement, or old age is finally setting in, either way i wont complain for a minute about it. My only regret is I dont have my pirate costume ready yet, and I dont have time to finish it now. So we will have to wear our Pirates of the Carribean t-shirts and the red bandanas they give you at dinner. That will have to do with such short notice. I will post a short trip report when we return. Wish you all could come too so we could meet, but that will come in due time.
Bon Voyage,

Howdy everyone,
We had an awesome cruise!
It was rainy the first day, it started raining 10 minutes before the deck party was to start, so they moved it into the atrium. People had a lot of fun, but since I had been to many of the outdoor parties, I knew it was not as good. It was very crowded and not room for the audience to dance around like outside. But I think they really did a great job under the circumstances.
That evening was the only rain we had. It was cloudy, windy, but in the mid 80's the entire trip.
We hAd 2 very nice families of 3 at our table for dinner, so that made 8 of us. one lady did get sea sick the first night and left before dinner even got started. But she was back the next 2 days feeling much better. The food was awesome, as usual. Our wait staff was great.
The pirate party was awesome!!! My only disappointment was not very many people dressed up. I have read that on the shorter cruises they dont get as much participation that way. But it was still great. We did attend the Little Mate pirate dance party before dinner to see the little kids all dressed up and dancing. They were so cute! Each one recieved a piece of pirate gold before they left for dinner.
We had an extra good time because the duo in the Promenade lounge was Don and Tommie, whom we had seen before. They just happen to sing our style of songs and last time they went out of their way to take our requests and we talked with them quite a bit. So when we went back this time and sat down they remembered us! What a surprize for us. They sang all our favorites for us and they invited us to sit and visit with them, before and after their sets. The last night we sat and talked about music and stuff until 12:30 a.m. and we had to be up by 6 a.m. They introduced us to the audience as their friends Greg and Kathy and would dedicate songs to us. I told them once that I wished I would of brought my cam corder so I could have them on tape. The next day they brought their cam corder and let us record on it, then they made us a copy. During the taping they sang all our favorites, talked to us and even came off stage and took the camera and took pictures of us up on stage. Tommie even came over and took me by the hand when one of my favorite songs was playing and she danced around with me while we both sang the song. That was hillarious as I CAN'T dance or carry a tune. Luckily when I was singing along the mike was not close to my mouth!!! They probably would of jumped ship if people heard me singing.
These people do everything to make your trip so special and personal. They also introduced us to other entertainers in the other 2 bands on board. They also turned out to be great people who stopped and visited with us as much as an hour around the pool or on Castaway Cay. They also acknowleded us when they saw us at their performances. It was so awesome!! This is twice we really felt like part of the Disney family, instead of just being a guest. I've never heard of an entertainer loaning you their cam corder to record them and then making you a copy. That was way above their job descriptions. But that is the kind of wonderful people they are. They really made our trip so fantastic!! This is twice they have treated us so special.
We didnt do any excursions in Nassau this time. We have done about all the excursions there before. We did walk around and went to the straw market and got a few bargains, then went back and enjoyed the quiet of the ship.
Castaway Cay was hot and windy, but also cloudy. The surf was rough enough they had to cancel the parasailing, deep sea fishing, glass bottom boat, and outer snorkeling tour. But all the water sports within their rock barrier went on as scheduled. We hiked the trail to the other end of the island and returned at lunch time. Then we went back to the ship and had the adult pool and hot tubs and the family pools all to ourselves. Nobody was there for quite a while. It really was an awesome cruise! The only down side to the whole trip was having to get off the ship this morning.
I'm having disney withdrawals today!! I need another Disney fix! Luckily we do have a cruise booked before this one, so that should help.
Hope your all well and getting excited to cruise, we only have a little over a year to go!!

Hi Feenie,
I'm happy to hear that you get to go to WDW next month. If you know which park you will be at on the weekend, let me know and maybe we can zip over and say Howdy! It would have to be a last minute decision on my part because I dont know what we will be doing that far out, but most weekends we are at WDW at least one day, unless someone is ill.
I did this with another person last month and it worked great. We exchanged pictures on line and said we'd look for each other around noon to one at Epcot near the inoventions building. We also gave a description of our shirts.
We saw each other just as we were about to leave. we didnt have an exact time as i didnt want to interfere with their vacation. We figured if it worked, great, if not that was ok. It's easy to take longer to do the attractions than a person plans on sometimes. We visited for about 10 minutes and then they were off for more fun.
Just keep the thought in the back of your mind and let me know later what you think. I do not want to slow down your trip or interfere with your plans in anyway. Time is precious when at WDW.

Feenie,
It should work for us unless something unforseen happens. I will mark 11/13 on the calendar for MK. So that it wont interfere with your vacation maybe we could meet you in front of the Liberty Tree restaurant about 20 minutes or so before your 4:00 dinner reservation. Since you will be headed for that place anyway. How does that sound to you?
Plus send me a reminder, maybe a PM just before you leave for vacation if possible.
We would love to meet you too. It would be great to have a face to put with your name before the cruise.

Just in case anyone wants to say HI or check out my door signs we will be in room 7126. I'm sure we will have a meeting time arranged when the time is closer, but I still wanted you guys to know where we will be. If any of you make a door sign, please let me know you room #, I love to go and look at the signs, but there are too many long hallways to just start walking down at random.
It only 13 months away!!! When Feenie started this thread, it was 2 years out. Time is flying by.

Hello,

Just got off the Magic 10 days ago and, while onboard, booked one of the special Western itineraries for October, 06. After we came home and looked at our calendars, it just made sense to switch to this sailing on 11/25/06 so us Four Foxes will be joining you.

I was shocked to find that Main dining is no longer available that we are waitlisted and I wasn't exactly thrilled with the Cat. 9 room assignment but I'm hoping I can switch that in the next 13 months. (Hint...if anyone decides to cancel or switch your ressies once those 2007 dates come out, please PM me so I can try to make some changes...especially those lucky dogs who have those precious SPHs! :goodvibes )

We met such a great group of Dis'sers on our last Magical trip...I look forward to getting to know all of you over the next year.

Hi Jamie,
It's great to have another family to join us. We have had good luck changing to a earlier dining time on the Magic in the past. On the first day they have a time go to one of the clubs and try to get it changed. Just show up right on time and keep your fingers crossed. Most of the time you are changed right on the spot. Only once we had to wait for a phone message to find out if we got our time changed. It was on the second day, but it did happen. So don't give up hope!! I would call DCL once a month and check about the room category, since people change rooms and cruises all the time. Just like you just did, so if you keep on it, this far out, I'm sure you'll get a change. I will blow some Pixie dust your way!!! That should help.
Happy to have you with us,

Hi Melanie and Kycha - we're also from PA. Lanc./Chester Co. border. Which county are you both from?

Kycha - The Secret Porthole rooms are category 10s but you get a nice big porthole just like you do in Category 9. They're all on Deck 5 and, according to DCL just this morning, they're all taken. I'm crossing my fingers that when the 2007 rates come out, someone will decide to switch their sail date and open one of those puppies up. Until then, we're on Deck 9 in a Cat. 9. Wouldn't I just love to finally get an upgrade?!?!?!

We have two children and when we sail, DS will be 10 and DD will be 8. I'm glad they'll both be in the same club even though their activities will be separate.

Can't wait to read a trip report from someone who got off the boat Saturday to see how they improved the boat in Dry Dock. I was on the last sailing before she went up to Norfolk. It was quite something to see the supplies and huge containers placed onboard once were arrived back in Port Canaveral.

OK, it's official. The 2007 rates are just too much higher than the price for this 11/25/06 cruise so here we stay! Now I can work on switching to a TA to get a better price and getting our dining assignment changed to Main. I did manage to change our room assignment to 2510 but wouldn't mind getting something closer to the elevators/stairs on Deck 2. That 2510 scares me a little since it's next to the dreaded "noisy rooms" but reviews say its OK. DH just loves being able to run up the steps to Diversions and grab a Guinness at whim. So, how do I put a ticker on my signature?

Hi all and thank you for the warm welcome!!

Jamie and Melanie-My keystone state neighbors :flower: . I live in Stevens(Lanc Co) and work in Plymouth Meeting(Mont Co). So, we are fairly close to each other.

I am so excited about this cruise. I can hardly wait. Just put down our deposit and got our room assignment. We are in room 2564. So Jamie it looks like we will be cruising neighbors too. :goodvibes BTW, what are the dreaded "noisy rooms" that you wrote about previously?

We will probably arrive the day before Thanksgiving. But we haven't decided where to stay for those 3 nights. I was thinking about a few days at Universal, but I can't imagine being that close to Disney World and not taking advantage. Maybe the Dis can help me decide. What are the crowds like at Thanksgiving? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks everyone!! :earboy2:

Cheryl,
WDW is pretty busy around Thanksgiving. But if you use the fast pass system and get there by the time the park opens, run for the most popular rides first thing, then start using fast passes you can get a lot done, even when it is busy.
Just don't go to MK on a saturday!! Never, it is the busiest park of all 4 on saturdays. Most locals go to MK on Saturday, I dont know why, but they do. We go on sundays at opening and we have at least two good hours of no crowds even at peak season. If you stay on WDW property you will have an early open day each day of the week where you can get into the park an hour before everyone who is not staying on property. Never go to that park on an early open day, even if you can get in early by staying there. That increases the crowds considerably over the other parks.
Universal and Sea World are just as busy as Disney, so it really doesnt matter which place you decide to go. Universal has an express pass system which is like WDW's fast pass. It all helps. I'm sure you have a great time no matter where you go.

Hi everyone,

Cheryl- I work in Plymouth Meeting too. Well actually Blue Bell, but its basically Plymouth Meeting. I get off at the Norristown exit from the turnpike.
We have cabin 2630 so a few of us are on the same deck. We are arriving on Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving. Right now we have 3 nights booked at the Radisson Port Canaveral. We may book a room at POP for 2 nights and have Thanksgiving dinner at WDW. Our Season passes run out next month, and DH is insistant that he doesn't want to spend another $200 to visit a park for 1 day. I think we will rest and do other stuff prior to the cruise. I'm hoping that Busch Gardens/Sea World offers another "free park day" for military next year. We went to Tampa to Busch Gardens when we were at WDW in July this year. We may end up just staying at the Port and relaxing prior to the cruise.

Welcome to everyone who has been joining us!! This time next year we are all going to be waiting for our Doc's and re-thinking our packing lists!!

DH and I packed today for our WDW trip next month! We had a good coating of frost this morning, so we won't be needing the capris, shorts and sandals around here.... So they can live in the suitcase.

My husband has started packing for our Ireland trip next month and I thought he was crazy. But Feenie, I see he is in good company with you and your DH. :goodvibes

Thank you Kathy for all your insight and tips. They are much appreciated.

Melanie, I am tearing up the turnpike and exiting at Norristown everyday around 8am. So, if you see a gold Ford Taurus with a Mickey Jack-o-Lantern antenna topper, that's me!! :moped:

We are also arriving the Wednesday before Thanksgiving next year. My husband really loved the looks of Wilderness Lodge when we ate at WCC in Sept. So, that is where I am leaning. That would give us great access to MK. Does anybody have suggestions for Thanksgiving dinner? Fortunately we have plenty of time to plan.

Kychia,
I dont really have any suggestions for Thanksgiving dinner,, but the Wilerness lodge is Fantastic!!! The big fireplace in the lobby is really nice late in the evening and there is a small spring that comes up in the lobby and turns into a creek that runs out of the lobby, over some rocks and into the swimming pool. It's really cool. Look up high on the right side of the fireplace and you'll see a hidden Mickey there. It is hard to find, but it is there.
My son Peter and his wife work at WDW. Pete is in guest relations so he know abotu all the restaurants, what they serve, the prices etc...
I will ask him what the best places for Thanksgiving dinner is and the price range if you want. That is actually a part of his job is to find the best dining places for people among other things.

Feenie,
We are still planning to try and connect with you at MK just before your reservations for dinner. We have it marked on the calendar!

Try this link for 2005 Thanksgiving day menus. http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/men_thks.htm
We have eaten at Chef Mickey's several times on Thanksgiving day.

The meal is so/so for Thanksgiving but the kids love it. We talked about what to do prior to the cruise and DH doesn't want to eat at WDW this time since we aren't going to Disney. I'm really thinking we may stay at Port Canaveral and just chill prior to the cruise.

Hi Cheryl - You're good to go with your room. There are some rooms in the front of the boat that have been called "noisy" because they are under the Beat Street Club. However, we just sailed with some other Dis'sers who were in one of those rooms and they didn't have a problem. I guess it just depends how soundly you sleep.

We also live in Lanc. Co. and DH drives to Malvern area for work these days. He's a consultant so travels from project to project. At least these days, he's home every night which is rare for his industry.

We probably won't fly to Orlando until Thanksgiving night or early Friday morning. Will depend on whether we fly out of Harrisburg, BWI or Philly. We are closer to Philly but have family in Lancaster where we usually have our Thanksgiving meal. I would like to get there early on Friday so we can enjoy an afternoon at a pool or Kennedy Space Center. Don't even know if we'll stay at airport or drive out to coast. It will all depend on rental car prices, hotel prices on Priceline, etc. For now, I'm trying to find the cheapest price to transfer this cruise to a travel agent. Anyone a Costco member? I'm not but I'd join if they were cheapest.

Is anyone making a list of Dis'ers, their family members, and room numbers? I'd be happy to keep track of everyone's real names and other vitals, if that's OK. We had a spreadsheet for our last sailing and it sure made it easy to remember everyone.

Hi Jamie,
That would really be nice of you to make a list of all of us. I dont think anyone is doing it so far. Wetoo have had it done on another cruise and it was really nice. I will PM you our information in the next couple of days to get you started.
Well the worst of Wilma has gone by us. Although we are in the central part of the state we did get about 6 inches of rain during the night and this morning, with lost of wind, only 35 to 40 MPH gusts. It should be gone in a couple of hours, I hope.
I hope all of you are in safe areas.

Thanks Jamie. When I chose our stateroom I was less concerned with the noise factor and more concerned with my husbands occasional motion sickness. So, I am happy to learn we aren't considered the "noisy room".

We usually fly from BWI because they seem to have better fares than Philly. Both airports are about the same distance from us. We have flown from Harrisburg and Lancaster as well. Lancaster was great because it is so convenient and they have free parking. But since they lost USAir as a carrier it is hardly worthwhile to use them.

Hi everyone,

I had a stressful day yesterday worrying about my cabin. I just happened to be checking the DCL site and was looking to see if the prices were the same. I just happened to look to see what cabins were available in a cat 9. My cabin # was one of the ones that showed were available. ???? Before I got too nervous I went on DCL's my reservation area and checked to see what it said. Instead of my 2630, it sayed I had 1076. Dream's Unlimited still showed I had 2630. Luckily my cabin was available to rebook. I would have been really unhappy with a deck 1 cabin. I am really happy being aft on deck 2 (rear elevators are less crowded and just a ride up to the drink station). The porthole windows are smaller on deck 1 too.

Check out my thread on the cruise boards: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=942771

The strange thing is, MamaKate who is also going on our sailing checked her reservation and her deck 2 cabin was moved to deck 1 as well.

Everyone please check your cabins on DCL's site to make sure they are correct. Especially if your booked with DU. I'm not sure if this is affecting all people in general or just DU bookings. I'd check it even if I wasn't booked with DU. Its better to be safe than sorry. I don't want anyone's vacation to be ruined at the last minute due to cabin mix-ups. That's not a great way to start a vacation.

By the way, maybe all of us in PA could do a get meet prior to the cruise. It would be fun to know a few people. I know Cindalu who posted on my other thread is a few towns over from me. There are going to be a lot of us.

Kycha, maybe since we both work here in Plymouth Meeting/Blue Bell we could have lunch together sometimes. There are so many great restaurants here. I love working here for that reason, lol!

Yes, snow in October is just WAY wrong!

I guess we'll be flying AirTran out of Philly next year. Yesterday, I found out that we won a free roundtrip ticket in a promotion they had last week. :Pinkbounc :cool1: They're usually pretty competitive with their prices so I'm happy to only buy 3 tickets instead of 4.

I am going to put together a spreadsheet of the Dis'ers on the trip. If you'd like to have your info. included, please PM me with your real name, spouse and kids' names, ages of kids, cabin number and main or late dining. Maybe a few things that would surprise people to learn about you would be fun. It's nice to have onboard to put the names to faces.

And, PA folks. That sure would be fun to hook up before the trip. Good thing we have more than a year to do it.

Melanie - glad to hear you got your cabin all worked out! :cheer2:

Jamie,
I'm glad to hear you won a free ticket!! YEAH! 3 is definately better than 4. We are driving down. We went to WDW a few years ago with my MIL and drove. Since then, DH doesn't want to fly. This time we are going to be leaving Wed morning and we will get to FL that evening. We will have all day Thursday and Friday prior to the cruise to rest and relax. I'm actually glad that we are driving for the cruise. No worries about what we can pack-etc. Its easy to just throw what we need in the car.

It is so hard to decide what stays in the suitcase when you reach the airline's weight limit. Southwest was 50 pounds and boy, you don't get a whole lotta stuff for 50 pounds when you count the weight of shoes and toiletries. The kids now drag that stuff in their bags and we leave the toys at home. Too many trips we took toys and they never played with them. It would be nice though to pack beer/water/wine, etc. and not have to worry about breakage either.

Glad to see you have a son, just about my son's age and are right down the hall from us. My Spencer just turned 9 in August so he'll be 10 for next year's trip. He loves science, Bionicles, Star Wars (he is one of 2,205,250,000 kids dressing up like Darth Vader this year for Halloween) and Legos. Used to really like YuGiOh but I think that fad has passed (Thank goodness!) Our daughter will be 8 for the trip so she'll be in the same club/activities as your son. Her name is Meredith.

Hi everyone. Hope all is well. Can anyone tell me when US thanksgiving is next year? Just before our trip? I didn;t really think about it as ours is in October. Hopefully it won't bump up the cost of our flights. I am looking forward to seeing the ship decorated for the holidays. Well, one more month and we're less than a year out :) So far away..... :guilty: Oh well, more time to plan I suppose.

HI! I just deposited on our 11/25/06 cruise last night!!! I recieved my first commission check - and put it right back into Disney!

I just reserved a Cat 5 Stateroom so I don't know anything other than that. We will be me, my dh & two dds - 7 & 9. Does anyone else have kids the same age traveling with them?

I see we can now make reservations for all the extra things when our cruise is paid for... I really like that idea!

Any advice for a first time-ever cruiser with kids?

Yippeee! See you all there! :cool1:

Fam4jc,
Welcome aboard,
happy to have you with us! fourfoxesinpa is making a spreadsheet of all of us and will send us all copies later on when the cruise gets closer. If you PM her with all your information she will add you to it and you will receive a copy too. Mostly your names, ages of kids, early or late dining, room number, e-mail address, any special celebrations you may be celebrating on the cruise or just anything you want to share about your family with the rest of us. Where you live is also a nice addition.
Sorry we are not traveling with kids or grandkids this time, but I'm sure htere will be plenty of kids to make friends with your kids from other cruisers.
The kids clubs are great on board, for all ages. The Magic just make 3 conference rooms on dexk 2 into more kids space. Something to do with virtual reality stuff, I havnt heard any details yet. But this december we will find out all about it since we are cruising with our grandkids, I'll post then and try to give you some details about the kids activities.
Looking forward to getting to know you over the next few months and finally meeting next year.

I hope the renovation will mean a higher inspection score. I hear the last one they were ranked a couple points under the Wonder. I imagine like us, the ship needs a little sprusing from time to time!

fam4jc,
The ship is really beautiful. It did need some carpeting replaced and some repainting, which was all done this month while in drydock. It will look like a new ship when we get on board!!
Do you have the free DVD from DcL? If not i would suggest sending off for it. You can send for it on their web site. It is fun to watch and answers lots of questions that people have.
I noticed you stayed in the wilderness cabins on a trip to WDW. I loved those cabins. They were so much more private than the hotel rooms, although I did like the All star sports when we stayed there a couple of times before we moved to Florida.
Well have a fun and safe halloween!

Momx4 - Kathy, Hi! I just ordered the DVD yesturday! I have watched the travel channel's special on DCL, but it will be nice to be able to see the DVD. I hope it will help get my dh to feel more excited about the cruise.

We loved the cabins also. It is so much more space & privacy than a resort room with the exception of a suite (we can't afford a suite!). My MIL just bought a nice camper that we are thinking about taking down to WDW. I think that would be just as much fun!

This next year will go by fast with your help!

You also have a safe halloween!

Good morning Shellie,
The campground at WDW is really nice. The pools there are never crowded like the resorts. You do have to walk a little ways to get to some things, depending on where you stay. But there is a bus you can catch on the main road that will take you to the trading post, Hoop D do revue and a nice restaurant. They have a campfire program with chip and dale in the evening and hay rides, that cost extra. There is a small petting zoo there too, which is free, unless you ride a pony, then there is a small fee. Also the stables where they house the big horses that pull the wagons at MK and are in the parades, you can walk through and see them too. There is a boat that will take you to MK without that long crowded bus ride. There is also trail from the Fort Wilderness area to the Wilderness lodge that you can walk or rent a bike to ride on. We walk it all the time from one to the other and then ride the boat back again. The port is about 75 minutes from WDW depending on the traffic.
I'm sure you'll like the DVD. It gives you a quick peek at a lot of things on the ship and ports of call. We get a new one every year just to see if there are any changes. My DH wasnt excited our first cruise either, but by the time it was over he was talking about how soon we could come back again! That was 8 cruises ago, with 3 more booked already. We both love it! So I hope your DH will be the same once he gets there. There are so many things to do, if he wants quiet there are adult areas which are quiet, family nighclub for the entire family to go to together, musicals, comedians, movies, and so much more. I'm sure he'll find something he will like. If he's the kind to want a quiet nap on deck, go to deck 4 they have comfortable lounge chairs and it's much quieter there. It's a jogging deck with shuffleboard. Deck 7 has the "Secret deck" which is quiet too. It's at the back of the ship.
Time to zip over to downtown disney for some shopping with my mother in law before she leaves this weekend. Have a great weekend!
Let me know how you like the DVD after you get it.

Dutchsmommy,
Our teenage grandaughter loves Robin Hood too!!
She had no interest in going up to any characters at all, after all ,at 14 1/2 pictures with characters is NOT cool. But as soon as she saw Robin Hood at MK she was off and had to give a hug and have a picture taken. Now that is one of the best highlights of her trip to WDW last summer.
I am going to buy her the movie for Christmas this year. It was hard to find, but I finally succeeded in finding it.
Hope everyone had a great Halloween yesterday.
I only had 4 trick or treaters which was disappointing. But i do understand why people only take their kids to places where they know the people and we are new in the neighborhood.
Just a little more than a year left to go!!!

Oh Thank YOU! I am just so excited I can hardly stand myself!

I just go word in the mail that if I rebook my cruise and pay for it on the Disney Visa I'll get a $75 onboard credit! Is it worth the hassle? The original Disney Visa offer (for a $50 credit) expired in september of 06, but the new one is out until Dec 2006. I think I'll do it tonight. Does anyone else going to take advantage of this offer?

mom x4,grandma x4

We use our disney visa to book all our cruises because they dont charge interest for a long time and we have it paid off by then. We got room credits too. It is nice to know the first $75 you spend in the stores or for drinks is a frebie. it does stretch the budget. Just make sure the price of the cruise has not gon eup to where they would charge you more when you rebook.
The best part of using the Disney visa is the rewards dollars. I had $308 on mine to start, now less than $100. i use it for souvenirs or gifts at WDW all the time. When they are all gone I will transfer the rest of my points over. i should have a couple hundred more built up by now. So for us it is well worth it.

We are celebrating!!! Yesterday we paid off this cruise and had $9 left over to start paying off the Dec2 cruise.

Feenie,
You must be about ready to head to WDW for your vacation!!
The weather is great for the next week at least. In the upper 80's most of next week, a few clouds, but no rain in the forecast, at least as of this morning. It should be perfect for you.
We will try to connect with you before your reservations for dinner at MK on the 13th. Sorry I dont know how to post a picture of myself, but I am about 5 7, 140 pounds, brown hair down to the middle of my back, gold rim glasses, 50 ish!!!!(don't ask Ha Ha), I'll probably be wearing a billed cap with little pictures of donald duck on it with character pins on it and on the back is a pin of castaway cay. If it's hot I'll have blue denim shorts on and probably be carrying a black winnie the pooh tote bag. My DH is 6 foot tall, short grey hair, same age, average build, gold rim glasses, probably sun glasses on, blue denim shorts, he always has a billed cap on. We sound pretty average to try and spot, maybe I will wear my goofy shirt. It's a white short sleeve button up shirt with a large picture of Goofy in a Tux on the back and some smaller pictures of him on the front. It is home made so no one will have one like it. That should make me easier to spot.
Hope to meet you soon,
Kathy

Hi Dis'ser friends:

I have a favor to ask: Wendy's has a new promotion where you can send in coupons from certain drink cups to get AirTran points. IF you live in an area that isn't serviced by AirTran OR don't think you are flying on AirTran, would you consider saving them and sending them to me? The cups are clearly marked and the coupon is obvious. I would be more than happy to reimburse you. If you remember, I won 1 flight a few weeks ago and now need to scrounge up enough coupons to send in so the other ThreeFoxes can get to Florida!

Thanks for keeping me in mind!

WE have taken all 4 grandkids on Disney too. It never feels quite the same without them. but 2 of them are going with us next month and the other two will be here when we get back for Christmas. They live in Oregon and we are in FLorida so it is very special that for the first time in several years, we will have all 4 kids and 4 grandkids together for the holidays. On this cruise we actually are doing back to back 7 days cruises, just like Feeney on this thread. So we will be going for 14 days, so it's actually 10 and 11 cruises. In 2007 the prices have sky rocketed so these may be our last DCL cruises too, unless they run some good specials. We want to try royal caribbean this spring just to see what they are like. How did you like Carnival? I have been interested in them too. Winter is finally here in Florida, we are only 80 today, but it is cloudy! No snow for us.

Just checking in to say hi to everyone. Just think 1 year and 2 weeks!! I think I've talked DH into going to WDW for 2 nights prior to checking in to the Radisson at the Port. This way we can have dinner at Chef Mickey's like we usually do on Thanksgving when we are at WDW. Then we will head down to Port Canaveral on Friday morning after sleeping in. Sure wish it was this year but it will be here soon enough. I'm surprised at how quickly the time has went since we were in WDW in July. I'm glad you found your way to the thread!! We will definately have to get a few of us PA folks together prior to the cruise for a Pre-meet and greet! Especially since you live so close to me!!

I'm tickled pink to know that a year from tomorrow we will be on our way to Florida!! Woo hoo! Sure wish it was this year! But, I will savor the wait even though the anticipation will kill me!!

We have one DS, but he will be almost 5 when we sail, so probably a little young to hang around with your youngest daughter. DS is a bit 'anti-girl' right now anyway and unless your DD loves Dinos and Monster Trucks DS might not be the best playmate LOL.

Anyway, welcome to the group. We're 2 days shy of 1 year and can't wait!!

Hope to talk to all soon.

Hi all!!

Just wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving. It has been very hectic here for the last few weeks. We just got back yesterday from a 10 day trip to Ireland, so I am trying to get caught up on everything. Now I can concentrate on next years cruise. Less than a year. Can you believe it? It will be here before we know it. I can hardly wait. Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

Welcome back, I 'm glad you had a good trip and got home safely.
We just returned from a day at WDW looking at Christmas decorations. It was fun, now I'm going to go on the web cam and watch the wonder pull out in 10 minutes.

Less than a year now...Yeah!

It's been awhile since I've logged on. So many wonderful school concerts, parties, activies. The kids are so cute at this age - they slay me!

I've managed to change our rooms, not once but twice, since the last I logged on. Still on deck 2 but only a door away from where we stayed the last time we sailed. Still trying to get early seating but are on the wait list.

Hope everyone is enjoying the season and we have some more DIS buddies joining us soon!

Hi everyone,
well i just finished getting the house decorated for Christmas. Today I'm stringing popcorn for the tree and baked a few cookies to decorate tomarrow to put on the tree also. I have one gift to buy and I'm through with my shopping and wrapping. Thursday I will cook the Christmas turkey and freeze it. I have all my baking done and frozen too. I will have the grandkids decorate the cookies on the 24th. That is the day we get back from our western cruise. That is why I have to get everything done early. Some of our company will actually arrive at our house the day before we return from the cruise. Busy Busy Busy!!!!!!
I have to figure out one more thing for my pirate outfit and I'll be ready for the cruise too. Thank goodness!!!
Have a wonderful holiday everyone and I will post a cruise report a few days after we get back. Can't wait to see the ship all decorated for the holidays.

I'm so envious of such organization!

Fellow PA-ers...are you ready for the snow tonight? I'm off to the grocery store - not for the required Milk and Bread (as we would surely perish without it!) but for cookie making supplies. Sounds like the kids will be home tomorrow if the weatherman is correct and it will be fun to bake all day with them. They started "their" shopping...love the Dollar Tree...so they can also get their gifts wrapped. Best Girlfriend is coming from Missouri to visit for weekend and new niece is getting Christened on Sunday so big, full of fun, weekend ahead.

Everyone stay warm and ...gosh, Florida Friends, how I long for your weather!!!!

Hi Jamie,
Well here in florida today it's been raining all day long and is a chilly 69 degrees! Winter is here at last. We actually had to turn the furnace on a few days ago in the morning to get the chill out of the air.
They have been talking about a cold snap here all week! Anytime it's under 70 degrees people here put on jackets, if it's 65 or less they bring out the hats and gloves. I can hardly believe it, because we come from Oregon where we get snow and ice just like you. we are still in shorts and light weight tops until it gets below 60.
It is nice you can make a baking day from your kids day off. I loved baking with my kids when they were little. Today I am cooking two turkeys for Christmas dinner and freezing them. I wanted to cook them on tuesday but they were still too frozen.
Well Have a wonderful Christmas and new years. Stay safe!
I will think about you while we are at Grand caymen, costa maya, key west, enjoying the warm weather! Ha! Ha!

Hi everyone,

4foxesinPA-Yep we awoke to lots of snow. Our second in less than a week (although this was definately more than the last). The kids had off, DH's base was closed till 11 and it wasn't work it for him to go in so I ended up taking a personal day and staying home the entire day. The sun was out and the streets were totally cleared and driveable by 11-12. We went to see Narnia as a family. It was a really good movie.

Kathy- You are such a busy beaver. I hope you have fun on your upcoming trip!!

My husband has guards this weekend so the kids and I are off to the King of Prussia Mall (for those who know it in PA). We are going to eat at the CheeseCake Factory and shop our feet off!!

I can't believe Christmas is so close and once the New Year is here the cruise will definately be getting closer.

SO brave you are...going to KOP Mall on a weekend!!! :scared1: :scared: What a woman!

I think the only thing that could possibly get me there would be that Cheesecake Factory. YUM! Good stuff!

Keeping my eyes on Glenn "Hurricane"...looks like there could be more of that "wintry mix" headed our way later in the week. Is it Spring YET???

:cold: Are you kidding me? Another snow storm and it isn't even officially winter. I think that will be storm number 4. In the last 1 1/2 weeks we have had about a foot of snow. Fortunately, it has all melted to a manageable level. I was even able to finish putting up Christmas decorations during Friday's snow day. :goodvibes

We have been unseasinably cool for us too. I know it sounds warm to say in the 60's to you, but that is cool for Florida. we are usually in the 70's this time of the year. I actually had to turn the furnace on last night because it got down into the upper 40's around here. BBBRRRRrrrrrrr!!!!!!
I will blow some pixie dust your way, hoping to warm you up some.

I know what you mean about this year. UGGH! Its so cold that I don't even like Christmas shopping. I'm really hoping that its ok for Thursday/Friday this week. I don't have any personal hours left to take. Anything else I take the rest of the year will be unpaid.........not fun! I hate the stress of worrying if its going to snow or be icy. Driving in this kind of weather is NOT fun. Keeping our fingers crossed we dodge the bullet this time. We still have a bunch of snow on the ground here. A bit melted on Saturday/Sunday but now its so cold it isn't melting anymore.

Kathy- I'm jealous of your weather. Your upper 40's even sounds good right now and 60 degrees sounds like heaven!! AAAH!

I sure hope we don't come home to a snow storm next year after the cruise. We will be driving home and it would be nice if we had nice weather for the drive.

Lucinda- Our school district missed last Friday as well. The kids had a ball! The bad thing is-its so early in the season.

Hi everyone,
Hope your weather is getting alittle better.
I decided to make a gingerbread house today, since the grandkids will be here this year to eat it.
Our low tonight is suppose to be 48 and the high tomarrow will be 73.
Just thought I'd rub it in while i still can. In the summer we die of heat, but the winters are fantastic!!! suppose to have a little rain on thursday, but be nice for saturday for our sail away party.
Take care,

Well, we have a winter storm warning in effect and are expecting 30 cms of snow - I guess around 12 inches - over the next 2 days. So, needless to say driving to work tommorrow might be a challenge!! Oh well, at least it looks pretty.

I'm doing pretty well with my shopping - just need to get some stocking stuffers. Now I am on to figuring out what to serve for the big dinner. I am not a very good cook - but getting better. I think this will be my 4th 'bird' so hopefully I am beginning to get the knack. I am thinking: turkey, glazed carrots, potatoes, stuffing, rolls, cranberry sauce and 2 desserts. Of course lots of wine/spirits so if the food is really bad I can just up the drink quotient!! It is only family coming over and only 6 adults so at least I don't have to cook in army-type portions but I am still nervous.

We are planning on going to the tree farm on the weekend to get our Christmas tree - always fun for DS. My Dad is also going to be with us this year, which will be great. He pretty much lives in Thailand and so getting together over the holidays doesn't happen too often.

I am still dreaming about our upcoming cruise. We are actually taking a trip to WDW in Feb for DS's b'day - a bit of a tradition - and while I am excited about that I seem to be more excited about the cruise for some reason. I am already starting to think about formal night, what to wear, what to bring, excursions etc. We will all definately have to compare notes about excursions once we get a little closer to the date.

Hope all is well with everyone and their holiday preparations are moving along.

Dutchesmommy.
Yep, only 2 days left and I'm all set accept for sewing a seam on my skirt for the pirate party. I have never sewed, but I bought a $12 sewing machine today in hopes I can sew one simple seam on it, but it will take lots of PIXIE DUST for me to succeed!!! Whe I got married, my mother gave my husband a machine called a buttoneer. It fastens on your buttons to your shirts because she knew I'd never get it done and she was right!!!
The only skirt i found that looked good for a pirate outfit came in one size only a 2x, I wear a 12. So you see the problem???? I cut out a huge piece of it. luckily it has an elastic waistband, so should be easy to do. If the little machine is too hard, I will do it by hand. Afterall I have 2 whole days left???
I do have to go the store tomarrow and buy food for those who arnt going, clean the house because company will arrive at my house for Christmas before we get back, so want it clean for them, pick up prescriptions, and drive to the airport in the afternoon to pick up oldest daughter and family, just in time for peak traffic so I probably wont get home until 6 to 7 P.M.
Then to fix dinner ( cold sandwiches) and be ready to go the next morning.
See, I have tons of time for an inexperienced lady to sew a skirt. At least it will be done in time for this cruise. I do have a pair of pants I can wear as a back up, but they dont look as good as the skirt.
well, I'll write in a couple of weeks to do my best to make you all envious!!Ha! Ha!
Merry Christmas everyone,
kathy

Hey Kathy,

A woman's work is never done eh! It's funny how we so casually list off all the stuff we have to do - imagine if we knew when we were teens the sheer amount of 'work' that would come with family, kids, grandkids, etc etc. The nice thing is it's all worth it in the end.

When I first read your post I thought you said the skirt was a sz 2 and I figured you would have to be a really creative sewer :rotfl: I don't think I've owned a 2 since I was about 9! Anyway - fingers crossed for your skirt - if the machine is a pain in the butt you can get 'binding or basting tape' at Walmart or anything like that in the 'Notions' section. Basically you iron on this stuff and press your seams together - viola no sewing. Mostly it's used to hem curtains, but would work for your costume no prob.

Best of luck and have a fabulous trip.

Dutchsmommy,
I wish i'd know about using the iron stuff, i know it would of been easier. I did get it done, but I had some problems. Mostly my own inexperience. I was so careful to pin it inside out to sew and still somehow sewed it on the outside an dhad to rip it apart, without a seam ripper!!! Then that stretched the material so it was crooked, but eventually I got it together and the crooked part really isnt noticiable due to the fact it is layered and the layers are all uneven anyway at the bottom!!!! Thank goodness for that. The machine actually worked pretty good, but I sure dont want to rethread it again when the time comes. EWhen DH got home i told him it was a gift for him to use.
Well 5 minutes til i go get family at the airport so tomarrow we can take off together for the cruise.
Merry Christmas to all of you. We'll eat a few extra mickey bars for you!

Anyway, DW and I will be on the Magic with all of you. We will be celebrating our 8th Anniversary on the 28th (Pirates Night, could be interesting). We are staying in a regraded Cat 6, now Cat 7, on deck 6!

I will eventually go back and read the rest of the thread, but I just wanted to say hello and wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

Howdy everybody,
We are back and now I'm really counting down to this cruise!!!

Friday I went to the airport to pick up my daughter and her family and was I surprized to see bright PINK hair coming my way. My blonde daughter was PINK, a HOT pink!!!! I didnt ask, and finally she said it wasnt suppose to be pink, thank heavens!!! She works with physically and mentally challenged children and she often puts a couple of colored stripes in her hair because they love it and it gets thier attention. So Thursday she had put two small dark purple stripes in her hair, then about midnight she took a shower before heading out at 3 a.m. for the airport. Guess what??? The shampoo had a chemical reaction with her dye and turned it HOT PINK and faded throughout her entire head!!! Well there are no all night wig stores or time to dye it again before her flight. She thought it was funny so it stayed that way for the cruise and slowly faded out as she washed it. She was afraid to dye it again after what happened this time. So we had fun teasing her the entire trip! I have the pictures to prove it.
Saturday we arrived at the terminal about 10:30 and got #5 for boarding. I was able to find a few dis board people by their descriptions in the terminal while waiting to board. That was fun. The boarding went quickly and smoothly.
The weather was nice so the deck party went on outside with Junction 21 as the band on this trip. They were pretty good, but not as good as Charles Marshall band.
We had the Dis board meet at 3 in the promenade lounge and about 35 people showed up. That was a lot of fun, I cant wait until all of us can do this too!
For the safety drill they have new life vests that are so easy to put on compared to the last ones.
We had dinner in Parrot cay the first night and our wait staff was good, but not as good as most we have had. The food was very good. My Dh is diabetic and we were very pleased that they had added many new sugar free desserts in the dining room and buffet. Chocolate mousse, strawberry mousse, cinnamon apple crumble, chocolate fudge brownie and much more. The dessert buffet was truly awesome!!! Not to be missed. desserts at the buffet on pirate night are fantastic too.
We had a tree lighting`ceremony the first night where we sang a few carols, then characters arrived and we lit up the tree and then snow fell from the atrium. There was a large gingerbread house near the Promenade lounge and many garlands around the ship. It was very pretty.
The welcome aboard show was great, as usual. We had lots of characters and comedian Gary Lelana and magician Mike Super. We have seen them before. Great!!!
We arrived in Key West around noon. We explored on our own, while the rest of our group did the sail, snorkel, kayak tour, they said it was fantastic!!!
We went to the southern most point and the ship wreck museum then lots of shopping around the port area. We did not get to see the famous key west sunset since it was cloudy that evening. But the dock area(mallory square) is a big party stop in the evening, but we stayed on board and went to promenade lounge to hear High Society play. They were talented, but didnt play the type of songs we liked and they were way too loud!!!!! You could hear them from the aft elevators and it just vibrated through the entire area.
We went down different hallways each day watching for door signs of fellow diser's and saw lots of them. They were really good.
When we returned to our room in the late afternoon they were varnishing our verandah. It smelled so bad I had to leave the room. They said in an hour it would be ok. NOT TRUE!!! About 4 hours later I could still smell it and it gave me a headache. I am sensitive to those kinds of smells. By bedtime it was tollerble. But we had a whole afternoon and evening we couldnt use our balcony. Then the next day they came back and redid part of it that they messed up on. I couldnt believe it, so another afternoon lost to wet varnish on our balcony!! But we didnt let it ruin our trip, we wouldnt of been in the room much anyway.
The 60's dance party was fun. The CM's dress up for the 60's and then they did beatle music. they gave out glow sticks which you could wear as necklaces.
Monday was The golden Mickeys which we have seen a few times, but it is great, we went to the matinee showing. That makes the evening less rushed. Try to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to showtime, it fills up very fast!!
We had all our breakfasts at the buffet as it has so many selections. It was very good.
The big movie screen was awesome. They played a movie or sporting event every afternoon and evening, plus some cartoons and short films about the islands we were stopping at. Of course after the pirates party they played Pirates of the Carribian movie. Please excuse my spelling, my mind is still on the Magic I guess.
Gary Delena did an adult comedy show which was hilarious in the club at night. We ate in Animators palate which is my DH's favorite place.
We did watch the mickey 200 race, played a family trivia game, I did a art project, which was a mosiac picture frame. My DD and I did the towel folding to learn how to make animals like your stateroom hosts do each evening in your rooms.
At Grand Caymen we did the city tour which we saw a turtle farm, Hell, a rum cake factory which was a tiny window to peek in and then a souvenir shop where you could sample it and of course buy it. We drove by the Governors house and a very old house they call the gingerbread house. Our guide was very good and friendly. It really wasnt a huge amount of things to see, but I dont swim so most of the exciting excursions wouldnt work for me. My DD with the pink hair and her family swam with the dolphins which I would highly recommend to you. she and her kids had a blast! Worth every cent.
As we were sitting on deck 4 we saw 2 pirate ships used for excursions and one of them was touring the bay, the came close to us and then they fired their very loud cannon at us! That was a big surprize and they all cheered and the cannon glowed bright red as if it was really fired. They moved to the other end of the ship and did it again. All the deck hands were dressed as pirates too.
We saw the matinee of twiced charmed. it was a very good show, not our favorite, but well worth seeing!
The family cabaret show was a juggler named David Dimuzio. He is excellant and funny too. He actually had a class where you could go and learn to juggle one morning for families.
80's night at rock in bar d. Arrive early for this one, there is kind of a show before the music starts. It is really funny. You dont want to miss it!
Day 5 was our character breakfast. The GK's loved this. last time professional photographers took pictures, but this time they didnt, so bring your camera with you because they will pose for pictures at your table. I am only stating a few of the highlights, I dont want to give away all the little surprizes that happen with lots of these events.
We had a little rougher seas this day, not bad though. We docked at Costa Maya and did the Chacchoben ruins tour. This was an awesome tour! Our guide was excellant and we saw lots of stuff and got to climb up a mayan ruin to get to many more. Lots of great picture opportunities there. I highly recomment it to anyone. Please PM me if you have specific questions about this tour.
As we approached the ship to board it there was a very long, long line which wasnt moving. Then we saw big waves splashing betweent he dock the the ship. It was bouncing pretty good. As we stared at the gang plank to see what was happening several big waves washed over it and actually knocked it loose twice, where it connected to the ship. I was thinking, OK this doesnt look good, I cant swim!! Eventually they crew members went through the crowd asking for any towels people may have and they took them all aboard the ship. Then about 5 minutes later they said to put away your ID because you wont need it to get on board. We were really starting to wonder, we had 10 minutes until we were suppose to be on board and 25 minutes to dinner. eventually a crew member stood ON both ends of the gang plank and sent people across a few at a time between waves. When our turn came we saw the entire floor inside the ship was heaped with towels to walk on and they were oozing water everywhere and they had a machine sucking up the water too. They said a high wave sprayed through the door and flooded them out and they couldnt use their electic machine to check you in.
so we dashed to dress for dinner, which was pirate night so it took me a little longer. lots of people dressed up. It was a lot of fun. The deck party was awesome, they did make a few changes from the first one we had been too, but it was very good, then of course the deck buffet followed with the movie on the DIVE IN screen. It was very windy at first, but about 1/2 way through the party it calmed down with almost no wind. The fireworks were specataular.
The next day we took the behind the scenes theater tour, saw ice carving and enjoyed a huge seafood buffet for lunch.
Then something that almost never happens, did happen. They roped off the front part of deck 10 so a helicopter could lower down 2 coast guard men to air lift a seriously ill guest to a hospital. It was very windy out and we slowed way down, but did not stop. The coast guard pilot was so good at his job. We felt so bad for the family to have this happen, but it was fascinating to see these men risk their lives to help save someone who needed their help.
Today I read a post where someone said it was a child who was having seizures. I pray he or she is Ok now.
After that my DD and I did the towel folding to learn to make the towel animals, which was a lot of fun. They played Narnia a few times which we never got the time to go and see, but many did. They had a comedy cabaret show this night which was really great. i laughes till I got tears in my eyes.
70's disco party is fun too, and of course the late night dessert buffet was 11 to midnight tonight. Boy did people line up for that!!
Friday at CC was sunny and 75 . I thought the water was chilly, but i was in the minority as the water was full of people. as we got off the ship the dock was decorated with a tree, snowmen and snow blowing form them. Carolers were singing along the walkway and several characters for photo opportunities along the path. The tram had reindeer antlers and a big red rudolph nose on the front, garlands down the sides, and reindeers tail on the back side.
If you want to mail a post card form CC the post office takes cash only and it's a little over a dollar for a post card, depending on it's size. For those who have been there before they have anew bike path along the runway as well as the old one. we didnt get the chance to explore it this time, but we will on this cruise. DD did things like water trikes and lots of fun in the grouper game room before eating at cookies BBQ, which is delicious. We of course did a little shopping there.
we got back on the ship about 4, got all packed by dinner so we had the evening to still go out and enjoy ourselves. Of course the next morning I was kicking and screaming as they made me leave the ship!!!
I know this letter only touched the surface of what we did, but it truly was a awesome trip and we are very excited to go again!!!!!!
If I can answer any questions please ask and I will try.
Now all my company is gone and reality is setting in, time to clean the house, do the laundry and put away decorations because our house will be going up for sale in about 2 weeks maybe less. Now I am dreaming of the next vacation where I will be meeting all of you and visiting with you all over the ship, just like i did this time.
Happy New Years, everyone,

Hello Everyone! My DH and I just booked the 11/25/06 Magic cruise through DVC this afternoon. We'll be joining all of you. If a list has been started, please add us -- Jan and Dave. This will be DCL cruise #7 for us. I enjoyed reading your trip report Kathy. DIS friends of ours, also from Michigan, were on the cruise. The Lindamoods -- about 30 of them for their Christmas cruise get together.

Looking forward to reading the past 170+ posts and getting to know all of you.

Welcome Jan and family,
I think I may of met your friends, I do remember her from all her posts, but there were so many of us at the meet that I have forgotton some of the names. We had 2 huge groups of disers on our cruise so I met them in the group,s o hard to remember them for sure.

Bob, some of the people got together at Costa Maya to lay in the beach chairs and have afew drinks, but they may not of stayed long as along the coast it was rainy that day, inland where we were it was nice weather. Some did meet in the clubs at night too. There was talk of a second meet for those who arrived later and didnt make the first meet, but it never got set for sure. I'm sure some of them got together during the cruise for various things, but most were too busy doing their own thing on board to gather gain.

Kathy:

Gail (Glindamood) and Dave and family were on your cruise.

Just kidding when I say this -- when we booked through DVC two days ago, we couldn't get a SPH stateroom! Our fellow DIS cruisers have most or all of them!!! We've been in two SPHs -- 5520 and 5524. Great rooms. We chose a sideways rooms this time -- 5005.

On previous cruises, we've had the first DIS meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm -- after boarding and before the drill. On our September 2005 cruise, the parents had a pirate treasure hunt on Monday morning. All week, though, we ran into DISers.

Hard to believe that we will be cruising again in less than 11 months.

Heading to Morgantown, West Virginia today to spend the weekend with two of my five precious grandchildren.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello Everyone:

I wanted to say HI. We booked our cruise in December 2005. We are looking forward to getting to know you guys.

We were part of the Turkey Cruisers last year and had a great time.

We have son (10th birthday on 25th), daughter 9, Dad/Husband's ( XX birthday on 30th), and Mom/Wife. If any one has started a list let me know.

We are currently on deck two hoping for an upgrade, but we will be happy just being on the ship.

Heres to getting to know all of you.

It's so nice to have more people on this thread. I am looking forward to getting to know you over the next few months. We are cruising as a couple on this cruise, so no kids to get aquainted with your kids. We have done 10 DCL cruises so far. We just got back last month from the western cruise. I can't wait to go again!!!!

Hi,

We just made our deposits for this cruise today through Dreams Unlimited. This will be DCL number 7 for us and we had such a great time on the November 26th eastern this year we decided to do the same week for 2006.

It will be me, dh, dds ages 16, 15, 12, 10, 5, 3 and ds 3. We are currently booked in two connecting category fours and waitlisted for early dining.

This week works out really well for us since the kids only miss three days of school (couple of days off for hunting season).

I havent read the entire thread but hope there are others with some teens/tween girls for mine to hang out with. That has really been a highlight of our previous cruises.

Welcome Jeanne and family. :wave2:

Wow, that is quite a family you have. You should be easy to spot when we meet on board the ship.
Sorry no kids with us this time, but I'm sure there will be plenty for your kids to make friends with. Our last cruise the GK'S made lots of new friends before the cruise by posting and many more once they were on board. It is a great ice breaker for the kids. :earsboy:
We just got back from the Western last month, but i think overall we prefer the Eastern ports. Prices are lower and it seems like there were more excursions to choose from. But I wouldnt turn down a second western, especailly since we already have one booked. :cheer2: :cheer2:
Looking forward to getting to know you over the next few months.

Jeanne - Welcome to the thread! Wow- I'm impressed with how many daughters you have!!

I have a DD who will be 14 (almost 15) when we sail and a DS who will be 9.

Kathy- It sounds like you had a wonderful cruise!!

I've broken the news to DH that he HAS to attend a DIS meet. He was like - I have to do what?? He seems pretty cool with it though. He's pretty shy, but I think he'll be able to handle it!

Looking forward to the cruise!

Please pre judge me. It was the best vacation I have ever taken. Since the Turkey Day Cruise Report Board is still toward the top of the list you can tell that we made some life long friends. It was wonderful always having people that you knew around you.

Speaking of the Turkey Day Cruisers. We all had matching t-shirts for the first day of the cruise. There were over 95 people that all looked the same. Is anyone up for it on this board?

Melanie,
Your DH will do great at the Dis board meet.
Last month when we had ours, a lot of people started out being kind of shy and stood off to the side, not sure if we were the people they were looking for. So I just yelled over to them, come on over and say hello, Then I said who I was and introduced them to my Dh. After about 4 times my Dh started approching new comers and introducing himself too. He is not the type to start up a conversation with strangers either, but he truly enjoyed doing it.
It just takes one BIG mouth, like me to get it all started. We will keep him talking if you can get him to the meet. There were several men at our meet and some came without their families because the others were busy unpacking, but they introduced us to them later when we saw them on board.
I am excited to meet everyone, because it really adds a lot of enjoyment to the cruise when you keep seeing familiar people all over the ship and talk to them about all the neat things they have done.

as far as I know nobody has made an official list for us. That is really nice of you to volunteer to do this for us. Someone did it on our last cruise an dit was great. tell us what type of information you would like and we can send it to you. Our last list had things such as: room numbers. names, ages, special occassions celebrated on this cruise, dining times, where we live.
Do you want this type of information?

I am so glad that you guys like the t-shirts. I will have someone here in Missouri throw an idea together. I like bright colors too. I think orange or peach would be great. (the guys probably won't like the peach).

JanDave - Just let me know what information you need. We started an excel websheet last time. I actually carried it with me for a day or two before I learned everyones names.

MelanieC - I loved Bev and Molli. Bev's husband Dan had his birthday on the ship. Since we had linked all of our reservations together, we (11 tables worth) were all able to gather around and SING happy birthday to him. It was great fun. Bev and Molli always had a great attitude no matter what.

I've actually started a list of those on our sailing...if anyone would like to add their names, kids' ages and room number, I can add that. Feel free to also add any interesting facts about yourself..for example...

I'm not real "techie" so if there's someone who really knows how to work a spreadsheet and would rather keep track, please gimme a holler and I'll send you the notes I have.

Hi! We just went on this exact cruise this last November, and loved the time of year as well--you guys are in for such a treat!
When I saw that grlzmom and her family were going on this date, I couldn't bear thinking of them going without us!! :teeth: So we switched our dates over (rebooked on board using a dummy date) and are booked on this sailing.

It will be me, DH, DS13, DD12, DD10, DS4. We are waitlisted for 2 connecting cat 10's, and waitlisted for main dining. This cruise is alot sooner than we planned to go again since it will only be a year since our last one. So I HAVE to make this work!! :wizard: I knew of many others on our sailing that had rebooked for this date too. So I am hoping to see some familiar faces. I hope everything works out as the year progresses and we are able to go. :goodvibes

I think they changed it a few months ago so now it's 1/1/07 when you have to have them. So we should be ok without them. But if you plan on traveling the next few years it probably wouldnt hurt to get it ahead of time. The prices went up last year and who knows they may do it again when they are mandatory. It seems when ever you have to have something the price goes up. Plus as the time gets close for people to have to get them I'm sure there will be a rush of them which may slow them down some. They already take about a month or so. We are going to get ours this summer so we will be set for the next 10 years.

Yes, that's right...we're still good with birth certificates WITH THE RAISED SEAL. Just talked to a t.a. today at AAA. This is Disney Month and I transferred my ressie to them and got an additional $150 shipboard credit (in addition to $200 given onboard when I rebooked). Plus, I could keep the discounted cruise price and will get 10% off at Treasure Ketch if I spent $75 or more and 10% off non-motorized rentals on Castaway Cay. I shopped around and it was the best deal I could find. Now, I just need to get on Main Dining and think about port transportation/room for night before. Ah, so much to do and way too much time! :confused3

welcome to our group. Boy we are sure growing this past month.
Yes we all want to meet up on the ship. On our other crusies we usually met on the first day in the promenade lounge around 3 because most people have arrived and found their rooms and you have an hour before the safety drill. It is too early to set an exact date and time but you can be assured we will have a meet. they are really a fun event.
13 is a big group, I'm sure you'll have a blast!
We are going as a couple this time, no kids or grandkids. It will be #11 for us and we're doing back to back cruises so actually it will be #12 too.

I have already sent our info to fourfoxes (let me know if you need me to send again). As for interesting facts, well.....

DH builds custom hot rod cars for a living. I just started horseback riding again after a 15 year abscence - used to ride competitively until university, DS is a typical 4 yo - loves dinosaurs and hotwheels the louder the better! Hi everyone!!! We just booked this cruise. Went on Thanksgiving cruise 2005 (whatever you have heard or read about those "turkeys" is all true!! We had a blast! :cool1: ) Planned on doing same cruise for 2006, but the significnant difference in rates made this a no brainer choice. I'll get over the guilt of taking DS 9 and DD14 out of school for a week!!! Considered early November, but there was something about the ship being all decked out for Christmas made the trip even more Magical. Thinking about doing WDW a few days before the cruise, anyone else doing that?

How about if we add everyone's home location to the list that fourfoxesinpa is keeping of all of our cruisers? I will start off by saying that we are in McDonough, GA, just south of Atlanta.

I am so psyched about the cruise. I have been having some of my wonderlust moments lately and would really like to be on a beach or a sail boat just relaxing and watching the waves! I would love to just get away for a weekend and watch the ocean from some vantage point. The Two Palms cam is just not meeting my needs anymore! :cool2:

Hi Cody's Mom...you've officially been added to "The List."! Welcome aboard.

Thanks Bob, for your hometown. If you have a location entered by your signature, I've added it to "The List." I also have put room number, real names, kids names and ages, DIS name, main or late dining and misc. fun facts so we get to know each other a little better. When our list gets "complete," I'll have to get DH's help in uploading the spreadsheet to a free webpage where we can all access and print it. But, I think that will be some months down the road as we're still getting new DISsers...

Hello All and Welcome to all DISers who have recently joined our cruise meet thread.

For Jamie's spreadsheet, we are Dave and Jan; late seating but on the list for early seating. We will be at Palo at least once for dinner, hopefully twice. You will find out soon after you meet Dave that he is a foodaholic. He will also tell you that it doesn't matter where the Magic goes, even in circles, as long as he is on the ship. The 11/25/06 cruise will be our 7th DCL cruise. We're planning to fly to Orlando on Thanksgiving day and hope to stay at OKW for 2 days.

We live in Williamston, MI near MSU's campus. We both grew up and raised our family in the Detroit area. Our three kids are in their 30s, we have 5 precious grandchildren and one more on the way. Our oldest grandchild will be 4 years old in May. Ok, do the math -- we're old! (at least age wise but still kids at heart! - just ask other DISers we've cruised with!) We also have a very special little girl in our lives who is like another granddaughter. Her name is Alyssa, she is 9 years old and has Down Syndrome. She has been on 2 Wonder cruises with us. I am a legal secretary and DH works for Ford Motor.

Wish we could meet up with the PA DISers -- but we don't get as far east as Philadelphia. We drive through Pittsburgh on our way to see our kids in Morgantown WV.

Any other Michiganders on the list?

Thanks for the welcome!! For some reason I am even more excited about this cruise (major mental planning already!!) than our first one- maybe because now I know how much fun it will be!! Cruisers are myself, dh, ds 9 and dd 14.

WELCOME PAM.

Im glad to see that the money changed your mind as it did mine. We are actually taking another person and it was still less than the Thanksgiving Cruise. But, I wouldn't trade the Thanksgiving Cruise for anything.

Tonya, One change I will definitely make this trip is to keep up with the shutters pictures on a daily basis!! No more last night sorting!!!

Don't know our room number yet, but we are early dining.
DH Greg, myself Kathy
seasoned cruisers with DCL
Have 4 kids and 4 grandkids
we live in Poinciana Florida, which is actually a Kissimmee mailing address.
About 40 minutes to WDW where we go almost every weekend accept at the holidays and when we are on a cruise. We have a son who works at WDW, so if any of you are going there before or after the cruise and if you have any questions, just ask. I can probably find out for you what you want to know.
The hard part about being so close to WDW is seeing all the disney cruise line buses full of happy people going to the cruise terminal, and we arn't going with them. Some days we will be 7 to 10 of these buses around WDW. That is depressing!!!!!!
Hope everyone is having a great week,

JAN - so far, you're the only family from MI. The rest of the group is from PA, FL, NH, Toronto, SC, MO, NY, MA, CA, LA, GA, ID, IL and VA.

Well, 60 degrees in January in PA today! Woo-HOO!!! Guess this is a good day to cut back my butterfly bushes and do some yard clean up. So, when the REAL spring comes, I'll have more time to play. So, I must log off and get this glorious day started. Happy Thursday! One more day 'til the weekend, all!

I'm not sure if the VA people are us, or if there is another family from VA. We are in Fredericksburg, about 30 miles south of DC.

We are in room 6010, and have early dining at this point, but will probably switch. (we weren't sure, and it is easier to switch to late than to switch to early) We had late dining last time (not by choice) and did not really mind it. We debated which for this cruise- really, the best argument for late is that you don't have to rush to get ready, but if you are going to the shows, you have to get ready about the same time anyway. I thought I saw on here that someone was waitlisted for early- not sure why- we just booked Monday and were able to get early. I was thinking that if we do switch (which we would do soon), it would be great if I could give my early seating to someone on this forum.

Tonya, did you guys do one room or two? For the same price as a cat 6, we could have done a 9 and 10 across from each other, but DH didn't like that idea when he found out that it would be we would have to sleep in 2 different rooms (although we would have more opportunity for alone time with two rooms!!) If my DS was older, I would let the kids do one room like some of the other turkeys did. maybe for the "med cruise"... who am I kidding, to afford that we will probably have to find a way to share one cat 11 with another family!!! :scared1:

The shirts are a good idea, and a family photo website- I liked the fact that
you always saw familiar faces..

Pam - We are in one room. 2056. We will have a 10 DS and a 9 DStepD. They have already tossed the coin to see who would sleep on top. This will be her first cruise.

I have contacted my resident t-shirt artist here in town. He will start working on a t-shirt idea soon. What color do you think the t-shirts should be?

I have been working on my packing list based upon what I DIDN'T use last time.

If you have been reading the Turkey Cruise cite, I guess I need to bring the Cheeze Wiz for the snorkeling. I don't want to let Willie down.

I can't wait until November, officially I have 316 days until I leave for Florida.

Have a "magical" day.

funny story about the bed, DS9 was all excited- it was going to be his!!! DD14 could care less- anyway, he was really worried that first night- remeber how rocky the ship was- was afraid he would roll out, and after that night, they had to alternate!!!

I'm not sure I ever got the whole story abou the cheez whiz- evidently he brought it out in his trunks- but what was the real purpose? (I am sure Lampy would misinterpret that ques.... :rotfl2: ) We are going to be doing alot of snorkeling this summer so kids will be ready for an excursion- they just did beach snorkeling at costa maya and cc. DH is scuba certified, wants dd to get certified, too before we go, but we'll have to see how that goes.. My first snorkel exp 15 years ago was not good, so I have shied away since then but I am ready to give it another try

Not sure about shirt color- peach seemed like a good idea, but the men will probably resist that way more than they did the lime..... Its a shame all the good caribbean colors are kind of girly- what about a pale yellow or blue? orange would be good too, or maybe a light red (not pink- but that "washed" look)
Guess I didn't help much.... WHen you do choose a shirt- compare how the sizes run to the original sizes of green ones. I am thinking that dh should get xxl. based on the xl he had last time. I would love to have a tank top for myself, but I guess volume pricing does not allow for much variety..

Definitley plan to downsizing on packing for all of us- realized we did not really need daytime outfits for each day.... Just dinner clothes and bathing suits with cover ups!!

Now, I don't know specifically why Lampy brought out Cheez Whiz in his trunks but...Some divers will use it underwater as a way to gather fish around them. You press the top and let the cheez float and the fish will swarm once they realize it is food. Not really sure if it is bad for the fish or not, but I have just heard the stories.

As for shirt color, speaking as a guy, I think a blue, red or yellow would be good. Something bright and festive!

DH suggested that the kids take turns with the beds. As for me, give me a quiet spot and I will be asleep. I don't know how many nights I fell asleep sitting up watching the b**b tube. I must have watched them build the ship a million times.

Please let your DH know that my DH is also certified and would love to take a dip on the Eastern Cruise. As far as my snorkeling, I have grown up around Lakes. There is nothing I hated worse than having to swim in them. :crazy2: I bought my snorkeling stuff and hoped that God would give me enough strength to get in the water where I couldn't see my feet. He did.

The Cheeze Wiz story goes as follows: Doogie, Lincoln, Willie, John, Trey and I (and Im sorry if I forgot anyone) took off from shore on the first day at CC. Out we went, needless to say, I was a little scared, but I followed them. We got out to about 20 feet deep and the striped yellow fish were following Doogie and Willie. When Willie and Doogie pulled the cans our of their pockets, the fish were all over them. They would squirt the cheese and then there was a feeding frenzy. ( A little over whelming at first) Willie shot the cheese on Trey's mask and we were lucky enough to get it off before he was attacked. All and all it was a great initiation to snorkeling. After that I was hooked. We got to see lobster, star fish, eels and other interesting things in Mexico.

On the shirts I was thinking Baby Yellow with Navy writing. I will see what my guy suggests. He's a mans man, so he will side with the boys. How about Tie Dye. I bought Referee shirts for my employees two summers ago, the kids loved the tie dye, but most of the adults HATED it. But, you know I can find one my refs in a crowd if they have that shirt on.

Good luck on the packing list. Im anal when it comes to packing. I am with you on bathing suits, cover ups and dress up clothes. Maybe one pair of jeans for the clubs and a couple nice shirts.

I always start out saying I am going to do better with packing and then as usual I add more and more this is my 7th cruise and I have never once brought just the basics. My DH swears I need help the more packing list I print out the more I swear I need.

My DS slept in the top bunkl on our last trip and wasn't real happy with it, this time he is taking a friend along and he is telling him how he will LET him have the top bunk as it is so much fun.Sneaky sneaky :cool1:

Hello!

Last 9/2005 cruise, while in St. Thomas, we booked Sunny Liston for a day long tour. I emailed him last night to reserve 2 spots with him. I'm on email alerts for low fares from Detroit to Orlando. The November 2006 cruise is feeling like it's becoming a reality.

A couple who were our tablemates in 2004 and us are planning a 9/1/07 cruise on the Magic. Wish I could cruise more often!

Kathy: Enjoy your weekend at WDW. What fun you and DH must have.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Just curious. Are any of you planning on booking for 2007 if DCL does Mediterranean cruises? DW and I have been talking about it and would love to do a cruise over there. I have also been looking at the RCCL route that goes out of Barcelona. Prices really are not as bad as I thought they might be. However, I also would want to see what the transatlantic route and timeframe looks like.

Like I said, just curious. I am gearing up for November, but thinking summer of '07 as well.

I'm starting to think about excursions folks and could use some input. We will have an almost 5yo DS with us and therefore alot of the DCL excursions are out. Also, we are not big 'beach' people - CC will be enough of a beach day probably. DH is a redhead and lying out in the sun is not his cup of tea - think 'lobsterboy'.

I am thinking DS might enjoy the submarine trip (can't remember the name right now) and possibly seeing some sights. Shopping is not important to us. So, as of right now I am thinking we will just be staying on the ship - LOL! But seriously, I think we would like to see the sights but am not sure what to do. Also, when we were in Cozumel DH got sick on a boat when we were deep sea fishing (the big wimp!) so I am thinking a boat cruise is out.

Anyway - any input is appreciated.

DutchsMom

My Boss took one of the Subs in Nassau. He said it wasn't worth the money that he spent. He is also in his 50's. So take it with a grain of salt. Dutch might think it was the best thing since sliced bread.

We are beginning to discuss excursions also. For me, the more snorkeling the better. DH feels the same way. DS will be content anywhere.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Hi Sarah,

When we were in Cozumel we took the kids (then 7 and 5) on one of the Disney excursions that was in a semi-sub? It had glass walls where you could see the marine life and wasn't ever totally submerged. The kids really enjoyed it (think "finding nemo"). Not sure if they offer anything like that on Eastern or not. I haven't even considered excursions yet. Right now, I'm trying to figure out transportation to port and lodging for night before.

ha ha on top. Unfortunately, it looks like my beautiful step daughter won't be joining us on the Eastern. We have until September to convince her mother that she will be ok skipping a week of school. So if she doesn't get to go with us, I guess we will ask for our old room back. We loved the location and its like HOME to us.
