Hello everyone - hope you are enjoying your long-weekend! Everyone  for me - I am busy :surfweb: at work today. And....our transit authority is on a wildcat strike as of this morning's rush-hour so I have NO idea how long it will take me to get home and it's HOT outside today - probably around 85 with the humidex which is hot for us this time of year.
Enjoy your BBQs and other fun activities!

Howdy everyone,
Hey Denise, did you notice your post was #1000 for this thread. :thumbsup2 That is a special number that a lot of threads never make it to.
Bill, My DH took your idea of "relaxation" for the weekend to heart. In 3 days he has had 3 naps in his recliner. I think that is enough relaxing for awhile!!!
Well we are BBQ ing steaks this afternoon and jumping in the pool. That's about it for today. as was already stated, tomarrow is Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to work we go!!!! :sad2:

Hope everyone is having a great day. DW and I spent the morning looking at cars. The one we had been looking at, they weren't apparently that interested in selling it. So, the search continues.
Have a great Monday!

Wow ... what a great LONG weekend! I took Friday off and got a very much needed massage, and then our weather finally broke and it warmed up ... WAY up! In one week we literally went from 2 frost warnings to 90 degrees today. Amazing. That's Ohio weather for you. But twas a great weekend regardless ... got the rest of the mulch spread, got a nice sunburn on my back and the start of sun poisoning  Heck, I'll take it all if it means I can finally put my coats away!!!
So Kathy and Denise ... it would seem that since I've been here somehow this became the Love Boat thread! :rotfl2: You are too much!
Short work week ... :cheer2:

good morning everyone, :sunny:
Your right Shell,
We are matchmaking without their knowledge of course, in hopes of getting a few more grandkids!!! :rotfl2: It would help if they were all going to be on the ship too! But we can dream about it :cloud9:
we have more brush fires burning again this morning. 2 main routes to the port are closed again. :sad2: Fortunately no ships for DCL going out today. I hope they will burn down again by thursday so all the people driving to the port wont have delays and problems.
Hope you all have a great day,
Kathy :yay:

Speaking of car talk!
DH and I are car shopping tomorrow.
We have not bought a car in 9 years, so I think it's about time.
We have put 180,000 miles on our dodge stratus in that time, and things are starting to break... :confused3
Oh well, DH has had his eye on the PT Cruisers since they came out, so now he can have his car. :sunny:
Have a great weekend!!!! I can't believe we are within the 6 month time frame before our cruise!! I have to pack!!! ;)

Ron - nice car! :thumbsup2
My friend is in love with the new Jeep (insert correct name here) - the big SUV-type one. It looks more like a bus than a car lol. I can just imagine you deal with people like me every day(ok, not to get sexist here but likely women) who buy more on the colour and 'aww that's cute' than knowing anything about the car LOL. Hey - we fit that extended warranty niche anyway, cause if my car ain't workin for some reason I have NO IDEA what to do. God love DH for that - he's my car-knight :teeth:
Anyway - I need everyone's help PLEASE:
I am planning on flying down using Airmiles out of Toronto (we usually fly SWA out of BUF but I have just enough Miles). Well I called Airmiles today and they only have flights out on Thursday Nov 23rd, your Thanksgiving. I am thinking - OK, we can just stay down the Thurs and Fri night and head to the Port Saturday. But....now my Disney mind is going - OK, 2 days....we could do some Parks in 2 days....we could stay on property for 2 days....the possibilities are endless!!!!!!!!! (My husband just shakes his head :confused3 ). So what I am wondering is - should be think about staying on site and maybe going to AK (DSs favorite) and maybe one more Park - or even a waterpark? Should we stay onsite (thinking AKL again as it's close to AK, but we've stayed at WL, AKL, Poly, POR and enjoyed them all). Or should we avoid WDW like the plague because Thanksgiving crowds will be insane (we always travel in low season). We have one night booked at the new REsidence Inn in Cocoa Beach and I suppose we could go down a day earlier and do some stuff on the Coast? It's just hard to be so close to WDW and not go!!! Also - a friend's parents have a place in Vero Beach - is that close to the Port - could I see if we could stay there for 2 nights, rent a car and boot around???
Any advice is appreciated!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :grouphug:

Wendy,
the fires are still bad and roads are closed. I tchanges constantly. Use a pay phone and call 511 for road reports before you leave for the port. Plus near the tickert and transportation parking lot therre is a AAA building. They could give you information too, maybe even detour info. I think you should be able to get some information at your hotel too. Lots of people will be cruising too and will have the need to know.
Just remember to leave early so you have plenty of time. I know HWY 50 is closed this morning already. There are 3 major fires this morning.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!!
Lots of pixie dust coming your way pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I will offer this one piece of information and let you decide if it will help you make your decision. Thanksgiving weekend (Thurs. - Sunday) is typically one of the busiest weekends for WDW. This is due to the fact that most Americans have an automatic 4 day weekend, so they don't have to take vacation (holiday) time from work to have 4 days in Orlando. Based on the stories I have heard, you couldn't PAY me to go to WDW that weekend. Although DW and I will most likely be staying on property on Friday night (11/24), we won't go anywhere near the parks.

Good morning! Hey, have you thought of this: How about touring Kennedy Space Center since it's right there at Cocoa Beach? It IS open on Thanksgiving, as I remember correctly, as my family did the whole tour on Thanksgiving a few years ago. It was AWESOME, even though it was closed for the employees and not a lot of action going on. We really really enjoyed ourselves there! Yeah, it's not WDW, but it certainly was a fun day.

Tiggerking is absoutley right :thumbsup2
WE go to WDW all year round and one of our sons is a manager there and also works in guest relations. Take it fromme, it will be wall to wall people. By 11:00 a.m., at the latest MK will be maxed out and nobody can go in until a few hundred leave, usually after the parade. The least crowded park is Epcot, but it is still crowded. If you go, please get to the park 30 minutes before it opens to get your place in line, so you can run quickly to 2 or 3 rides before it gets too bad. Even fast passes sell out by mid morning for rides, so you cant depend on them to help you get through the lines.
If the weather is nice I would head to a water park. They will be busy too, but at least you can always find room in the main pool or the lazy creek to get into the water. Then go to downtown disney, maybe catch a movie or do disney quest. You can watch the fireworks at MK by going to the comtempory resort and watching from there, although lots of people know about this, but it would be less crowded than the parks.
Prepare yourself and if you really dont mind the lines, then go for it. But honestly you probably have one hour after the park opens before it gets super crowded.
We avoid all the parks, even sea world and universal on holiday weekends. Of course we have an advantage that we can go almost any weekend because we live close.
I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter what you decide to do!!

If the launch schedule stays this same, this will be a GREAT idea as the Shuttle will be on the launch pad. At this point in time, the shuttle is scheduled for a 12/1/06 launch (our CC day -- Could make for an interesting day at CC). They typically move the vehicle to the pad up to a couple of weeks in advance.

Hi everyone! Just saying hello... :wave2: Hope all of your had a wonderful weekend. We had great weather, sunny and high 80's. I too suffer from a sunburn on my back Woogal!!!
Dutchsmommy, have you heard any reviews about that Residence Inn in Cocoa beach? I think I told you but we're booked there on the evening of 11/24. We're toying with the idea of staying near Sea World and doing that the day before the cruise.
After the cruise we'll be staying at the Wilderness lodge for a few nights and going to MK. Has anyone stayed at Wilderness Lodge? Is it good? I haven't been to Disney in about 13 years...can't wait to see it!

OK, I'll put my 2 cents in about Thanksgiving. We too have been to the World during that week, up until Thursday is not TOO busy, but the flood gates open on Thursday. I would suggest going to Downtown Disney too, but.... go to Cirque if you haven't already. We went one year on Thanksgiving and were able to get great seats two nights before the show. My son still talks about the show and compares every circus to it. (they all pale in comparison) Its just my 2 cents. No matter what you will be in Florida, getting ready to get on the MAGIC.

Hi Danielle:
We stayed at Wilderness Lodge when it first opened ... AWESOME place! Get a room on the same side as the water and you can see the night electrical parade go past your balcony! Oh ... and don't forget to ask for ketchup if you eat at their main restaurant, right Mutt??!! :lmao:

Thanks. We have a woods view room booked (don't know what that means except that we'll have a bunch of trees outside our window :confused3 )
We'll be sure to ask about ketchup since that is a staple at our dinner table...our kids are ketuchupaholics (we consider it a vegetable :) )!
Any restaurants in the MK that we shouldn't miss? or should we stick with the WL restaurants?

Well, Shell pointed out that I was wrong (starting to sound like my wife) about the launch schedule. Apparently they have chosen to push the mission back to at least Dec 14. It should be on the launch pad before we leave. They have already put the next shuttle on the pad, and the launch isn't scheduled until 7/1.
Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday. I would love this short work week if I wasn't already behind when I got to work yesterday (I know, so why am I on here instead of working? :confused3 ).

DH and I were at the Wilderness lodge about 4 months ago for the weekend. It is beautiful!! In the lobby is a stone fireplace. If you look closely on the right side about 2/3rd of the way up you will see a hidden mickey. I starred at it for hours and never saw it ,after many trips there. I finally asked my son to point it out. It was right there! I can't believe I couldnt see it!! He had it pointed out to him on an cast member tour he took once, so he had help!!
There is also a small geyser beyond the pools that is like old faithful, only smaller.
Both the restaurants there are very good. I dont recall the names. One features foods from the Northwest, which of course goes with the theme of the lodge. Dinner only there. The other restaurant serves family style which is great. When my son was a teenager a waitress challenged him to ride a stick pony around that restaurant singing zippity do dah!! He did it at the top of his lungs!! People applauded and cheered, so he went a second time around with a donald duck hat on! The waitress turned a little red, she said teenage boys never accept her challenge, it is too embarassing. Guess she will be more careful the next time she challenges someone!! But that is the kind of atmosphere it is in there.FUN FUN FUN!!!
You can hop on a boat from there to take you to MK or over to the Contempory resort. At the Contempory resort is a excellant buffet called Chef Mickey's. It is a character meal. I would call ahead and make reservations to go there on a holiday weekend. It is very good and fun too. of course the California grill is on the top floor there with an awesome view of MK. This is a steak house. Kind of spendy, but great food is you dont mind spending the extra $$.
If you go to downtown disney you have several nice places to eat and shop.
There is a McDonalds there. :rotfl2: To make the kids happy. Ok there are
others restaurants too. Planet Hollywood, Rainforest cafe, Fultons crab house, Captain Jacks, Earl of sandwich, plus a few smaller places. all are fun themed restaurants, great food! All should have reservations ahead of time, but if you eat a little early you may be able to get in ok. Planet hollywood and Rainforest are the lower priced of the sit down restaurants. Earl of sandwich is a deli sandwich place, but great foods if you want a sandwich.
Fultons and Capt Jacks are spendy, but awesome meals!! All these places have menu's out front so you can check out the food and prices before you go in which is really nice.
If you have any questions about a specific restaurant, please ask, if I dont know the answer, my son will know. He works in guest relations at downtown disney a lot, plus he is part time in management at Epcot. So he is trained in all aspects of downtown disney and could answer any questions I may ask. Hope this helps a little.

I am thinking WDW will be a 'No' - really not worth the $$ for the tickets IMO. And....another reason to go back in low season! :woohoo:
We stayed at WL in Feb and really enjoyed it. Great theming, great grounds, really nice pool. There is a 'stream' which meanders through the courtyard and then flows into the main pool - DH went to the point it was coming into the pool and was pretending to be a spawning Salmon - it was hilarious but I'm sure the lifeguard thought we were dorks
One more question please - is Vero Beach near the Port? My friend's parents have a condo there and I am thinking maybe we can ask them if we can borrow it for the two nights - but only if it's within an hour or so of the Port.
Thanks!

SCRAPPLE! Danielle and I went to York College of PA. Since we are Long Island born and raised we had no idea what it was. I will never forget the first time I saw this old timer eating it at a dinner in PA. I had to ask one of my PA friends what the heck is that guy eating. After he told me about scrapple I didnt feel any better about it. I did try it once. I guess its an aquired taste.
:crazy2:
I hope you tried your scrapple with some syrup! :thumbsup2
Anyway...York College. Just about an hr. from us Foxes. Wouldn't happen to know Spanish Prof. Rita Gargotta? She lived in our old neighborhood and I took some advanced classes from her at another college.

I dont remember her, I asked my wife she dosent remember either. We graduated some 11 years ago so maybe we were there before her. I was never good with spanish. I did one year because it was required. We went to visit some friends for easter and went back to the campus. We were amazed how much the school has grown since we went there.

GOOD MORNING Everyone,
Sorry your not going to WDW this time, but it may be for the best. Thanksgiving is a mad house!!! SO many people!!! From Thursday on, it is unreal, before thursday is very slow. So you are probably saving yourself a lot of frustration and waiting in line.
Right now they have a brush fire at WDW. It is a ways from the parks on undeveloped land and the Reedy creek fire department has it pretty much under control, but we had 50% chance of thunderstorms today, which means lightning strikes, which means more fires!!
Some roads to the port are closed again today due to smoke. I am glad to know the fire season will be done by the time we cruise, so we wont have the road closure problems to deal with.
Well time to zip out to the store to get a few things before it get too HOT! :sunny:

I still need ideas for my DH for pirate outfit. I have had mine for 3 cruises already. He usually wears a pirate t-shirt and bandana, but I would like more for him, if he will wear it. I want to check out the new Mickey ears pirate hat at WDW. I saw a picture of it and it looked really cute.
Hopefully within the next couple of weeks we will zip over to WDW so I can get one if they are cute.
Have a great Friday everyone!!! :rotfl:
Love the :dance3: :artist: :happytv: new smilies!!!

I dont remember her, I asked my wife she dosent remember either. We graduated some 11 years ago so maybe we were there before her. I was never good with spanish. I did one year because it was required. We went to visit some friends for easter and went back to the campus. We were amazed how much the school has grown since we went there.
You would have been there when she was teaching. Very nice teacher who became a friend.
I've never been to the campus although I know York pretty well.

Hi folks....Happy sunday to everyone....
The cake turned out great. The "erupting" part actually sounds more dramatic than it is. The cake is basically a couple of chocolate bundt cakes on top of each other and sculpted to look like a volcano (you can frost it any way you want to....we used peanut butterfrosting, chocolate and some buttercreme colored with burgundy to decorate the sides along with crumbled up chocolate graham crackers to give the appearance of "rubble". A cup gets placed in the center with dry ice to make the smouldering effect. When evaporated milk hits the dry ice...it bubbles and the "lava" spills over the sides. We weren't sure how messy it was going to be so we just put hot water into the dry ice to make the smoke come out but the kids really enjoyed it anyways. Cudos to Woo :thumbsup2 for coming up with the idea---she's the genius behind the whole thing.
Anyways.... enjoy the last few hours of the weekend!

Hey Everybody!
I hope that everyone had a great weekend!
Mutt: Don't give your DW compliments, it will swell her head!
Well, DW and I have been a little bit busy this weekend. We finally bought a new (new to us) car yesterday. I finally was able to get the car I have been wanting ever since I received my license...a Mustang Convertible. We purchased a 2005 Torchfire Red Mustang on Saturday, and then proceeded to spend the afternoon and early evening riding around! It is great and we both love it! :thumbsup2
Have a great week everyone. It is going to be EXTREMELY busy for me as I try to finish up a project with one client. Looks like a lot of 10-12 hour days this week.

Howdy everyone,
Bill and Shell I have seen the volcano cakes before , they are really neat! I am sure your nephew loved it. I hope someone took a picture of it.
Still HOT and dry here.
I am going to spend my day covering wallplate and switchplates covers with the leftover wallpaper borders from each room that we used them in. it really gives a nice finished look to each room and is a lot cheaper than buying designer plates. At least this way it matches the exact design too. I won't finish today, but I will get a good start on it.
Well I hope everyone has a great day.

Hey Mutt: If you behave yourself on the cruise, I might let you inside the 5 foot perimeter when we leave the ship. This will most likely be our mode of transportation to the cruise. It just depends on how well Lisa minimizes the suitcases to be carried.
Kathy: This is a dual toy. I have wanted a Mustang Conv. since I have been able to drive. This is the 3rd Mustang I have owned, but the first convertible of any type. She knows that I possess the second set of keys! ;)

Happy Tuesday everyone,
Yesterday we changed our 9/23/06 cruise to 8/5/06.
Our daughter and her family are coming to visit for the month of August. :cool1: We talked it over with our daughter and decided to surprise the grandkids with a cruise. :goodvibes
They think we are taking them next summer on a cruise , so they wont be thinking about a cruise at all. We are going to tell them that we are going to take them to Cocoa Beach for a few days. That will explain leaving with our luggage and heading that direction. :teeth: Then we told them a BIG FIB!!! Unusual for grandma to do, so they wont suspect anything. I told them that DCL has been building a third ship that is totally different from the first two, and we got a special invitation to go to the terminal on 8/5/06 at 11:00 a.m. for a special presentation about it and to see a large model of it. Hopefully that will fool them until we pull up and unload the luggage. :cloud9:
They have cruised DCL before, but they knew about it a year in advance, Hopefully this wil be a great surprise for them
Well thats about all from Florida for now, hope eveyone is having a great day and NOT working too hard. :woohoo:

Kathy, that sounds like a cool plan! I know they will have a blast!
Well, I learned the dangers of buying a convertible as part of a mid-life crisis yesterday. The hair is a little thinner these days and the top of my head is now slightly sunburned. My hat wouldn't stay in place while I was driving, so I had a little too much exposure!
Oh well, that problem has been cured anyway. Lisa is now in possession of the car and I may never see it again!

See, that is part of the problem. I still have hair up there, it is just about 30% thinner. So, I can't just go using sunscreen, or it will look like I have been using Vaseline and my hair will be pressed to my head. I actually saw something on TV the other day that was a hairspray-type sunscreen to protect your hair and your scalp. Now, I just need to find it in the stores!

Is there anything to do in Cocoa Beach besides Kennedy Space Center (I was thinking the kids would be too little for that...maybe not? They're 7 & 4). Otherwise, we were thinking of doing Sea World and staying in Orlando for the night. Any input would be helpful.

If you do consider Orlando, one thing that DW and I are thinking about doing that we had to miss in '04 is they do a HUGE ice sculpture exhibit at Gaylord's. Now, this may not sound like a lot of fun for kids, but some of the sculptures are play on type things like an ice slide.
As for doing Kennedy Space Center, if the launch stays scheduled for 12/14, the shuttle should already be on the launch pad. But, personally speaking form my childhood memories, all males love rockets at all ages and the kids would have a blast!

Hello Everyone: Haven't been on the Boards much since we left for a Memodirl Day weekend visit to WV to spend time with 2 of our grandchildren.
Lampy: My DH works for Ford. And, he's still working!
It was a beautiful morning in mid-Michigan and as I was driving down the road, I listened to a Jimmy Buffet CD wishing I was hearing his voice in the Caribbean somewhere.
We're anxiously awaiting for grandchild #6 to be born sometime this month. I'm on-call when my daughter goes into labor as I am taking care of my 2 year old grandson.
I don't know about anyone else, but I won't be sorry to see Labor Day arrive which means less than 3 months until we cruise again. We're now in the early planning stages for a 2007 cruise (not a Med) with some other DISers.
Enjoy the upcoming weekend!

Howdy,
I agree the server problems on this board have been terrible the last two weeks!
I have a question for all you cleaver people, and i would appreciate input from the not so clever people too!! In other words all of you!!
I just read a thread about a lady wanting to do a scavenger hunt on board for her kids. That got me to thinking my GKs woud love something like that when we cruise in August.
So i am asking for any of you to give suggestions about clues to use. Obviously it wouldnt be to physically get things, just find places and things around the ship. At the last place I will be waiting with a small treasure chest for each of them with some goodies and#$$ to take on the islands.
Her example was something like you have to walk on the red to find the gold.
She was referring to the Golden Mickeys show in the WD theater. The kids are 12 and 15. So I have been working on ideas, but I am not too bright at such things. Any ideas you could throw my way would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Everyone,
Havn't had a chance to post much lately - really busy at work and every time I try and get on the server is too busy - just it's time to increase the web capacity again. The DIS just keeps growing!
Hope all is well with everyone. Things are good here - looking forward to the weekend. DH and I are going away for Sat night - leaving DS with Stony's Unlce and Aunt. There is a car show in a city about 2 hrs away that DH's cars will be at and he's gotten us a B&B ressie for the Sat night so we'll be able to have a nice dinner and some quite time. I am looking forward to it as I havn't seen too much of him lately. He's starting up a new division of the company he is with and has been really busy with that and showing the cars.
Here is a link to the website if anyone is interested:
http://www.oddballkustoms.com/
I havn't had a chance to think about the cruise too much lately - maybe a good thing as time is flying?? Does anyone know whether the trip has to be paid in full before you can book online for the Clubs, Excursions etc?? We still have a bit of a balance which I am hoping to pay off in the next month or so, but things have just been coming up and I havn't managed it yet. But I would like to book ressies online as soon as possible!
Kathy - I don't have any clues off the top - but I'll think about it. You might also want to check out the Passporter site - they have that Cpt Jack Sparrow 'hunt' every month in their e-newsletter and maybe there are some DCL clues in there??? Also, I bet this is the type of thread that the 'regular' DCL forum could provide tons of input - given the response to the DCL mystery before the Med was announced (wasn't that fun!! LOL) I think most of us LOVE putting this type of stuff together so I would post there as well.
Talk to everyone again soon! :dance3:

You do have to have the cruise paid off before you can make any reservations. Unless you are doing Concierge or REAS, you can't make ressies until 90 days anyway (which you probably already know). But, I will say from what I have read on here before, if you are going through a TA, you may want to send the final payment in a couple of weeks early to ensure that it posts at DCL in time to do your ressies at the 90 day mark.
Have a great time at the B&B this weekend. DW and I need some time away as well because the work schedule has been hectic.

Hello All,
Happy Friday to you!! Sorry I haven't written in awhile but I have been busy with the new addition :cloud9: and many visitors stopping by to see him. DH and I were talking about the cruise the other night and was wondering about the weather in November?? Has anybody been on DC in November?? DH and I went in April 2004 and it was chilly and cold. I am thinking what to pack already!! I really want to go on the cruise and wish it was alot sooner. :cool1:
P.S. I still didn't figure how to post a picture!! I am still trying :thumbsup2

Happy Friday! The weekend is only a few hours away!
Bob: As a matter of fact, I DO have Tan-in-a-bottle, but I thought maybe ... just maybe ... the weather would cooperate for me! As for changing places, I've been in the southern heat on several occassions and it can be BRUTAL! So while I may "complain" (insert other word) about our weather, I know that you and Kathy are both trying to tolerate untolerable humidity! Sounds like a good weekend for a bike ride ... or maybe Lisa will let you ride in her car with the roof down! :smooth:
Andy and Danielle: YEAH :woohoo: ! I'm so glad we convinced you to try KSC! Trust me, you will ALL love it!
Kathy: Bill and I will give it some thought to your scavenger hunt. He is the most creative person I know, but I'm sure, knowing us, we will have to do a bunch of editing before posting the results!! :rotfl2: (we have a tendency to go off on different tangents, if you can believe that :smokin: !)
Dutch: Cool website, cool stuff! :cool1: But I don't understand your comment "I havn't had a chance to think about the cruise too much lately". What the heck are you talking about?! There are other things in life?! :confused3

Hello everyone,
Lynn, dont worry about the weather in November. At the port it is usually in the 70's and on the islands it is more like in the 80's, really nice. we have cruised many times in November and December and it was awesome. :thumbsup2 I am trying to be patient for the picture, but pretty quick I will be able to take my own :rolleyes1
I will be looking forward to finding out what types of clues you guys can come up with for the hunt. I really do APPRECIATE :goodvibes your efforts. I have a few ideas scratched out, but I really could use a few more brains on this one. ;)
I am staying in and relaxing this weekend. i am not feeling well and dr. said to rest. Just as well since it wil be too HOT :sunny: to go out anyway. I have a terrible sinus infection, sore throat, ear ache and sore tongue and a few other nasty things .
Hope everyone has a great weekend, we are another week closer to the cruise :woohoo:

for those of you who dont know Dandy8 is my wife. We both work and dont have any time off together. So some time we will post back and forth to each other on the boards since we dont see each other awake to offen. I know it must seem weird to some people reading the boards wondering why we are posting back and forth to each other.
Hi Honey!!! I hope you are having a good day with the kids. Love you!
Hey Mutt, I gave you some RCCL feedback on the other board.
Happy Friday everyone!!!!! TGIF!!!!!! 1 more week closer to the cruise. We have DD's dance recital this weekend and the weather looks like it is going to cooperate with sunny & 70's. Have a great weekend!
Oh yeah, for all of you vegetable garden people...I'm attempting to grow tomatoes in pots on my deck. They are looking good but should I put any type of plant food on them? Someone told me coffee grounds....is this good?
I have a brown thumb.....I kill all plant life so any info is much appreciated!

Kathy: When we sailed on the 9/3/05 Magic, the DIS parents had a scavenger hunt and an ice cream party. All the DIS parents contributed stuff for the hunt. It was held on Monday around 9am in the Promenade Lounge. I'll check past posts to see if I can find out how it was done. If you can search for posts from Captaincrash, you'll find out about the hunt. As you can tell, Dave and I did not make it to the hunt.

Had a eye doctor appt. this morning, then a hair appt. and after that I actually stopped in at work for 3 hours to help with the move and get my desk set up for next week. Then did some shopping at Target. So at this point I'm tired and ready to veg out in front of the tv for a while.

I have been having problems with the board today. It was very very slow and about 30 min ago i couldnt get on at all I thought the servers crashed. But its up and running now but its still slow. I had to try to post this message three times before it worked. I think its nothing you are doing i just think the board is over stressed right now.

HOORAY!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
We are finally getting rain :cloud9: to put out all the brush fires around here. Our area is suppose to get 2 to 4 inches in the next 36 hours. That would really be great, just hope the lightning doesnt start too many new fires. Hopefully it will put out the four corners fire. The smoke from it has gone over the Animal Kingdom over the weekend and caused a lot of problems for people and animals alike!!
I hope to feel good enough to go out and get some things to make my door signs soon. I need to get things started around here for the cruise. I am falling behind on these things. Time to get on the ball!!
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Lynn I am sorry I dont know the show schedule, :confused3 but you might want to post on the general forum page, someone who just got back may answer for you or if you read trip reports sometimes you can post a question to the person who wrote it and maybe they will have their Navigators still and could help you.

 Happy Monday everyone.
Well I was off today and to be honest I am totally enjoying the day. Weather has warmed up and its a beautiful day. I took my dog to the vet this morning for his normal check up. I have the last few years not been happy with the vet clinic. Today was the frosting on the cake...so I am having them copy my dogs records and I am going to find a new vet. It's a really long story, but the bottom line is, I was there about a month ago, my dog had yet another ear infection. So they at that time did a complete exam on him. So when I went today, I requested just his heart worm and a distemper titer. (re: the titer that is really another long story), anyway, I then asked if they could look in his ears to make sure the infection in completely gone. Well they would charge me for a "full exam" if they looked in his ears. I just think that is really sad :sad2: It was not so much the money, as it was they just couldnt look in his ears, since he has chronic ear infections. I would have paid for them to look in his ears, but I felt that he didnt need another exam he is otherwise a healty dog. Oh well....!!!enough of this rant....
Hope everyones Monday is going well....

I had the same probelm with my vet for my dog. My dog :dogdance: had a lump on his side and before the Vet even look at it they want to cut him open and charge us $2000.00. It wired up just being a fatty tumor that would go away with a new diet.
They also would always muzzled the dog to cut his nails. My dog wouldn't hurt a fly but he doesn't like when you touch his paws. We switched Vet and we are much happier now :cool1: !!!

Howdy everyone, :sunny:
well we have been getting quite a bit of rain. :woohoo: No big downpours here, but a steady light rain all day yesterday with a couple short downpours during the night. Quite breezy out today. I guess we are suppose to get a lot more rain and wind from the back of the storm after it passes through the state.
The newspeople are so busy talking about the storm they havnt annnounced anything about the brush fires. :confused3 I wish they would. But with all the rain it had to of helped some.
DS didnt smell any smoke last night at work at Epcot, so maybe that is a good sign!! :thumbsup2

There is a new scavenger hunt on CC. It is apirate hunt, we did it last month. It takes about an hour to do and you have all day to do it. It was fun but a coupleof clues, I think the first and third were quite hard, But you can still solve the riddle by getting the rest of the clues.

Hope everyone's Thursday was good.
Well I spoke with my daughter last night, it's official that she will be deployed to Iraq :sad2: . She will be leaving early September. This is her second deployment to Iraq. She was there about 3 yrs ago, right when the war started. I was really praying that we may start pulling troops, or just that their orders would be cancelled, but no luck. This is her third deployment. She seems very upbeat and ok about it. I think I have a harder time with it than her. So in August she will be home for two weeks before she leaves and she turns over custody of my grandpuppy. I just hope my dog adjusts to having his "cousin" around for a year.
Have a good evening everyone

Greetings all!
We were slipping to page 2 so I thought I'd give us a little bumpety bump.
Quick question...has anyone figured out when the exact date is that the Castaway Club members can make the online ressies? Not looking forward to setting my alarm for 3:00 a.m. but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
Kiddies are now out of school and we're "down the shore" as they say up this way. Today is a big work day at our cottage here. A new kitchen countertop is going on, base cabinets are getting installed and I might actually get running water back in the kitchen by the end of the weekend. I won't know how to act when we're actually off the air mattress and using real beds. Ahhh. The little things in life that we take for granted.
Calling for toasty weather here over the next few days. Hope everyone stays cool and has a fantastic weekend!

Jamie, this is the web site used on the WDW side for determining when you can call for dining reservations:
http://pscalculator.net/pscalc.php
According to it, our date is 8/27/06. Of course, as you know, you have to have final payment by that time in order to do the ressies. I also saw others mention that they received a letter from DCL telling them their date, but I wouldn't count on that happening.

Hey Everyone!
It has been a good weekend here. It was warm yesterday, but there was a nice breeze blowing most of the day, so it was tolerable. We had a BLAST last night. DW and I teach a single's Sunday school class at our church and we went to the drive-in movie with our group last night to see Cars. First off, the movie was a blast! But, the whole night was fun. This is the ONLY drive-in theater left in Metro Atlanta, if not Georgia. We carried the grill and did hot dogs and brats on the grill and just had an awesome time. DW and I may go back next weekend to see another movie. This was the first drive-in movie I had been to since high school!
Happy Father's day to all the dads out there (even you Mutt)! Unfortunately, we return to work tomorrow (I really wish I was independantly wealthy).

Lynn: My DH has a birthday on 12/6. For a surprise, I thought of browsing the two shops on the ship. Two years ago, we sailed the Magic for our 20th anniversary. I surprised him with a watch he was looking at every time we walked into Treasure Ketch. It was wrapped and delivered just before dessert at Palo. Well planned by the CMs in the shop and Palo. This year, I may just get him several smaller items and have them gift wrapped and delivered to Palo.
We're almost at minus 5 months. Hurry up Thanksgiving!

:welcome: Runa! :dance3: We're so glad to have you join us. It's quite an ecclectic group of people we have here, to say the least! If you see Cruisemutt, that's my DH (although we had a little "disagreement" this a.m. so I'm not sure how appropriate the "D" just now :headache: !). He lived in Philly for a while years back, so who knows? Maybe you both have/had similar stomping grounds!

Runa, welcome aboard. We have a pretty active group here. If you and your DBF are interested, those who will be doing late seating for dinner are looking at linking our reservations and trying to get one or two big tables near each other. Just let us know if you will be interested in joining us!

T-Shirts are still in the mix. WE need to get to 101 ordered so that we can have the discount. I have contacted Lucia and hopefully will hear back from her about the changes that we recommended. I am sorry I haven't been on, I have been out of touch with the computer and have been unable to post.
Welcome Runa. Get ready for some fun. We look forward to meeting you.

Hey, just because you and DH got off on the wrong foot this morning, don't punish all the men! :furious: I never watched Seinfeld that much. I saw a couple of episodes, and they happened to be some of the favorites (Soup Nazi, Master of My Domain, Stinky Car, Shrinkage). :happytv:

Hope everyone is having a great week. One more day after today and the weekend shall be ours! It has been a hot one this week. Temps once again topped 100 in our community yesterday (actually saw one thermometer that read 106). Supposed to be a little bit warmer today! And there are no tropical breezes to make it feel better. I may follow the dogs down to the creek and jump in the water with them!

I don't think that I have been this happy to see a Friday in a loooong time! The last two weeks have been a bear at work. We still have a lot to accomplish today, but most of it is just clearing up client notes.
We finally got a bit of rain yesterday evening, so the grass got a little sip, and it is now supposed to be a little cooler the next few days (highs in the mid-80s instead of the mid to upper 90s).
I hope everyone is having a great day!

HI Everyone - sorry I havn't posted in a while.
Welcome Runa!!!
Hope things are going well for everyone. I've been really busy lately around here with work, getting DS registered for Kindergarten, DHs work (just got a call yesterday to build a car for someone in LA for July 11th). Needless to say I am not expecting to see him for the next week or so. My Dad is coming to visit tomorrow night. He lives in Thailand, so it will be great to see him! Also a big help with DS seen as how DH will not be around so much. DH seems to really be getting into the cruise - he was scoping out Pirate costumes on ebay!! pirate: So, I think I've got him sold. I was going to try and buy tuxs through ebay for him and DS for formal night but don't think I will bother. He can wear his 'wedding suit' and we'll just get something nice for DS. I figure this is likely the only time they would ever wear a tux so why go through the hassle just for one night. I still might look into that rental thing they offer on board - but we'll see. I am planning on ordering DS a basket from Shirley, and might get a 'mom and dad' basket as well - mainly beer and wine I would imagine - but we'll see. Other than that not too much new here. It's been quite warm - but nothing to what you guys down South have! Quite dry too - I have the sprinkler on the lawn as we speak. Does anyone know anything about this: I planted Zinnias (sp?) in my front bed and it looks like the leaves have all been eaten pretty much clean away - would ants do that????? Is there anything I can do - my annuals look really pathetic!!
FavSlave - how much are the shirts if we don't get to 101?? If it's only a few $$ more then not a big deal.
Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend! :woohoo:

Hi everyone,
finally getting some rain today!! :thumbsup2
Last night we had a dog show up at our house starving and raw tootsies from walking so much. She isnt very old, a Boston terrier I believe. We fed her and gave her water too. She was really afraid of us at first. She may have been abused, dont know. We felt bad, but had to call animal control to get her. :guilty: Man was so kind and good with her. :goodvibes We are going to call the shelter on Monday to see if the owners have reported her missing or if anyone has claimed her. :confused3 If no one gets her by the time her time is up, we will probably adopt her. :) We couldnt live with ourselves if she were put down. :sad2: She really bonded with DH last night. She got BBQ'd ribs, hot dogs and bread and gravy to hold her over. That's better than DH eats!!!
So next week I may be joining those of you with furry kids!!! :woohoo:
I will let you know what happens. we could provide a good safe loving home for her very easily.
Not much else happening around here today. I am waiting to watcht he ship pull out on the web cams. I think the sail away party will be in the atrium today, it is really rainy today.
Have a good saturday everyone,

Happy Sunday everyone....this weekend has flown by. Why dosnt the work day go this fast? Between cleaning house yesterday and a graduation party. Today I got up and went grocery shopping, then started getting dinner ready...making red sauce for italian speghetti tonite, I also made carmel rolls from scratch. I havent made them in a good 12 years. I was talking to the girls at work last week and mentioned how I used to make them alot and how good and full of calories they are. So they asked me to make a batch. It took me almost 2 hrs to make them. I forgot all the work involed. However, they turned out great and tast wonderful.
Well enough of my exciting life. Enjoy the rest of your day.... :sunny:

So, does that mean you are a momma's boy? That could also help to explain the "nanny fixation" as opposed to a nanner fixation (that is what we call them down here in God's part of the country...Nanny's are babysitters). :joker:

See, you have it all wrong. If you had seen the movie cars already, you would know that the correct pronunciation is "Mater". There is no "to" or "ta" in it at all.

There are just to many cute names to choose from. This is turning out to be as hard as naming our kids when they were born.
well have a great day everyone.

Happy Wednesday Everyone....although it really isn't happy around the TiggerKing household! DW and I arrived home yesterday afternoon to find out that our air conditioner is not working. :furious: Less than 4 years in the house, and this thing decides to stop operating when it is 90 degrees and 70% humidity. It was not a happy evening around the house. Then I find out today that the A/C company can't come out until Thursday morning. Woo-Hoo!
Please pray that the heat doesn't put DW and I in too nasty a mood!
Have a great day everyone!

Last and most important....Cruisemutt is just full of it so don't believe ANYTHING he says...(wait a sec...thats me, isn't it?) Strile that last ground rule.

Hello all and thanks for the "Welcome Aboard"!
Yes, Kathy, this is addictive -- DH is already chuckling about my new obsession. :rotfl2:
I must confess that I haven't read all 80+ pages of posts on this thread yet -- but I'm sure I can get up to speed soon!
A little about our trip plans -- we're scheduled for late seating dinner. DD(5YO) has already informed us that she'll be eating with the kids' group for almost every meal. :cheer2: We'll see. . . In fact, I have a feeling we won't see much of the kids if their plans hold true. :cloud9:
We've reserved a nice little stateroom in steerage -- I mean Deck 1. :thumbsup2 It's actually the same one we had on the Wonder in August 05, and it worked quite well for us. (Please don't tell me how much nicer a private verandah is -- I'll have to start working even more to pay for the next cruise!!!)
With all the extra exercise, we plan to do lots of eating & drinking!!! LOL :woohoo:
4 months & 4 weeks to go -- sounds MUCH better than 5 months! :)
Have a great day everyone -- off to work to help pay for "Magic!"

Cheri:
Where are you staying the night before the cruise, (if you are)? We are at the Raddison in Coco Beach.
I think as time gets closer we (with the late & early seating) are going to link ressies. We would love you to join us. Last cruise we has about 100 people from the boards linked together and it was great.
If you want to PM 4foxesinpa(?spelling), she is keeping the master spread sheet with everyones name, room number, etc.
Our party consists of Me, DH and DS who turns 10 on the first day of the cruise. (lucky man). My husband's birthday is on the 30th. So we will be celebrating a lot. My birthday is in the middle of hurricane season so I will be celebrating at the pool rather than in the carribean. (hint hint, its the same day Pirates of the Carribean 2 comes out) Yippeeeee
Welcome to your new obession and we look forward to hearing all about your family.

Just 1/2 from my house they are flooded out from all this rain :sad2: !! This weekend we have a busy weekend. Saturday we are having a BBQ and then Sunday it's off to my in-laws for a BBQ. DS is going for his 1st set of shots at the doctor on Monday. I have my DH going with me because I don't like that kind of stuff :sad2: :sad2: ! Cheri: Welcome aboard to you and your family! We are glad to have you with our "unique" little group. You should watch out for WooGal though, she tends to start :drinking1 pretty early in the morning. CruiseMutt (her DH) tries to keep her under control, but he does have to leave her sometime during the day to pay for her cruise obsession! :lmao:
We are a fun group and it will be time to climb aboard before you know it. And by the way, the only difference between a Cat 9 and a Cat 6 (besides the price) is the deck. You will LOVE your room. DW and I stayed in 2098 on our first cruise!

Lynn, am I missing something? Who know's these days things do tend to leave me rather quickly.....can you refresh my memory please.....thanks Denise....
Happy Thursday everyone.....it was another beautiful day here. I just came back in from watering the garden, which is doing really well this year. I am already getting plenty of tomatoes and peppers.....
Plus my DH sold his Harley on tuesday!!!! yea :cheer2: The stroy behind this is, he purchased the Harley he sold, about 4 years ago. IT was used but a really nice bike. So July of last year, we fly to Colorado to visit our daughter. She say's hey dad, there's a Harley store here, would you like to go and get a T-shirt? He say's yes. We go. DD and I go look at T-shirts. He starts looking at bikes. DD & I are wating for him by the t-shirts. He never show's up. We go back by the bikes. DH say's hey look at this bike isnt is nice. I say yes. He say's can I buy it. I say no. We "flew" here. I dont think we can fit it in the overhead. He say's please! I say no. He say's they deliver. I say no. So the bike is delivered about 3 weeks later. It's a beautiful bike. Now we have two. Only one person "rides". So we now have to sell. Gee it only took about 11 months to sell the darn thing. But hey if he's happy, then I'm happy. Oh yeah, he did not get a t-shirt and he is grounded from entering any Harley store. :rolleyes1
Have a great evening everyone....

HI Veronica,
We are PLANNING to stay at the Hyatt at the airport on Friday night. Should probably make reservations!!! We did book the DCL bus so we'll see how well that works.
We had also thought about a one-night stint at a WDW resort, but since our flight doesn't arrive until about 3:30, it would be a waste. I also found out that the DCL buses don't leave WDW till after 12:00. :guilty: We want to be at PC as soon as we can!
Looking forward to getting to know everyone in the group! :grouphug:

Denise, this sounds like me. A few years ago I went to a bike shop to buy a new helmet and ended up buying a new bike. Fortunately though, DW rides with me. She was actually the one who talked me INTO buying the new bike. I had talked myself out of it! And, yes, I do have two bikes, but she doesn't drive.

It's Friday at last!!!
It seems we are another week closer to our cruise :woohoo:
Today is my big day, the doggie stork is arriving this afternoon! :cloud9:
My DH was teasing me because i cleaned the house floors extra good and picked up things that are not dog friendly. My house isnt this clean for company :rotfl:
Still trying to pick a name. family members took a vote and most said Minnie and a few said Pixie. So it will probably be one of those two names.
I was thinking about Buttercup until my little grandaughter said I couldnt do that because Buttercup was the name of the bad Powerpuff girl on cartoons and the puppy isnt a bad puppy.
Lots of :sunny: here today. Lots of thunderstorms each day too!
I finally got a few things for the cruise while I was at the store yesterday. Now I can get started on my door signs. :thumbsup2
well I am off to do grocery shopping this morning before the heat really sets in. I am usually out to the store by 8n a.m. on hot days so the frozen food will stay frozen.

WOOHOO! 5 day weekend for me!!
Bill asked this morning before he left for WORK (hahahaha) what I was going to do on my vacation day. I said ... a load of laundry, wash the dog and take him to get his nails trimmed, vacuum, weed the garden, pay the bills ... He said, "You just really don't understand vacation, do you?!"
But that's OK cause we have a full weekend with my parent's 50th anniversary party on Sunday. Festivities begin tomorrow so really we only have Monday and Tuesday for ourselves. I don't want to waste those days! I laid out last Saturday to get a little color for the party and cooked myself very nicely (read: LOBSTER) ... and today I am peeling like a snake shedding its skin. Not quite the look I was going for! :confused3
Denise: thanks for the laugh :teeth: ! Great story. I like how you almost had your DH under control! Keep trying ... they break eventually! Funny, but I'm the one that has tried to get Bill to buy a bike in the past but to no avail :sad2:
Lynn: Going to Kohl's?!!! You're my kind of gal! Isn't that the greatest place to shop?? It's like an addiction for me. I just here the word and I'm off!
Kathy: You know I'm all for Pixie! But I'm excited to hear from you once you have your new kid home! Post pics!

Welcome Cheri!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wave2:
I'm Sarah, and will be travelling with DH Stony and DS Dutch. Dutch will be a few months shy of 5 when we travel. With your little one and Dandy's bunch we are getting closer to our own little 'rat pack'! I am hoping the little ones can exchange pics and maybe a few words via e-mail/DIS prior to the trip. I think if DS 'knows' a few kiddos beforehand he will likely have a better time in the Club. We currently have early dinner ressies, but I am liekly to change them to link with the DIS group at late seating - which is kinda contingent on DS spending alot of time in the Club. But....if all else fails I'm sure we'll be able to manage. Favoriteslave is arranging t-shirts for us and and mentioned 4foxesinPA is keeping track of all of us and our room #s etc. We're FINALLY getting closer to our BIG DAY - YEA!!!!! And the summer will likely fly by as it always does, so DCL here we come. We are staying at the new Residence Inn ( i think that;s the name?) in Cocoa Beach the night before. I think Dandy8 is as well??? So our kiddos might meet. If you havn;t booked the Hyatt yet, maybe you want to come down to PC the night before??
Hope everyone is well - Kathy keep us UTD on the little Minnie (can you tell which one I like LOL). My dog's name is Huck - had to name her in about 30 seconds when I made a snap decision to adopt her from the Humane Society about 10 years about and somehow came up with Huck (like Huck Finn). Finally coming into some nice weather here. This weekend is Canada Day (July 1st) and we are going out on a friends boat to watch the fireworks - should be great fun.
Gotta go to a meeting - take care everyone!

 This is funny, because to hear DH's side of the story, I was the one that "forced" him to buy the bike. Which to some degree is true. After he broke me down and I gave in.... ;) He then started talking himself out of it....I told him just to get it, because once we get home and he can't find the same bike here, that he would be very upset. So now he tells everyone that I made him buy the bike. Men and their toys!!!!! I just dont get it.

Denise,
I would book as early as they would accept the reservation. No point in taking any chances.
well the puppy stork arived this afternoon.
so far so good. she is not feeling well from shots and being fixed. Hopefully that will pass by tomarrow or the next day.
she is bonding pretty good with me. DH has been outside building her fence around the yard.
Kids voted her name to be Minnie, so that will be it.
I cant wait till she starts to eat and fills out her stomach. She is all bones.
she has no appetite at all, but I think that is due to the surgery and shots.
well got to go and take care of my new baby.
