Happy First Day of Spring to all! :Pinkbounc :yay: :woohoo: :cool1: :goodvibes :bounce: :hippie:

Hope everyone has a productive week...packing and moving/getting the baby's room ready/maybe Spring cleaning/maybe getting taxes done? Or, the more important tasks of getting door signs and tshirts ready/finding pirate gear, etc.

Howdy everyone, :wave2:
The first day of spring in our area of Florida is suppose to get near 90 degrees today!!! :sunny: If it's 90 on the day of spring, I hate to think what summer will be like this year. :confused3

I am celebrating the first day of spring by doing absolutely nothing I dont have to do. :cloud9: I am pooped from packing to move. So today is a relaxing restful day, :goodvibes maybe I will think about door signs or if there is anything I can add to my pirate outfit before the cruise. pirate:

Wendy,
Happy Spring :sunny: !!! Looking forward to nice spring weather!! It's not Spring weather here in NY. I had a dusting of snow on my car and it's about 30 degrees with the wind chill!!! Some Spring weather!!
The Winnie the Pooh theme is neutral colors. It's called Peek-A-BOO Winnie the Pooh from Babies R US. We know that we are having a little boy but my husband and I love Disney we wanted to do this theme.

Happy spring back to everyone... It's still cold in Ohio but at least we're one season closer to some warm weather (and that boat thingee everyone seems to be talkin about). I guess between my wife and I trying to turn the "when you wish upon a star" ships horn wav into a ringtone for a cell phone and me "woohooing" at work because my Disney ties have arrrived---well, its just a lil goofy around here(no pun intended--honest) :goofy: Anyways....stay warm everyone.

Hello Everyone, especially recent newcomers to our thread.

It's been a cold day in mid-Michigan, but at least we had sun!!! We are almost at the minus 8 month countdown. Our friends, Bob and Gitta, who wil be sailing with us and have never ever cruised are so excited. It's fun to listen to them as well as answering their many questions.

SPRING...... Not here in Virginia. We are supposed to have 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow AM. The kicker is that 2 weeks ago we had about 4 days of summer temps- one day it got up to 88!!! Of course, all the kids at school got out their tank tops and flip flops those days.... and judging by they way have dressed since, they must have gotten rid of anything warm!!!

As much as I want the time to fly by til November, it makes me sad to think that my DS will be a couple weeks away from turning 10 when we cruise. My baby is growing up!!!!!!

December 13. So not on the cruise, but right after. I remember last year Hunter's birthday was during the cruise, right? I know that turning 10 is going to be a big milestone for Cody.... At his point he is still into alot of "pretend" play- light saber fights, etc. and doing some silly "cute" things. I just hope it is still a while before he grows out of reading with mom everynight!!!

My Spencer turns 10 in August and it sounds like he will get along well with Hunter and Cody. He is ALL about light sabers, Star Wars, Bionicles, learning Magic and card tricks, and science stuff. He doesn't have any interest in sports but likes watching ND football with his dad. If you don't mind, maybe he can IM the other 10 yr. old boys and try to make some buds before we sail?

That's the same rotation we had last time right? It worked out because we were in Lumieres for formal night.
I missed the change in animator's palate the first night because I was taking COdy up to the kids club while we waited for dessert..... And they don't do it the second night....

Yes, that is the same rotation as last cruise. I really liked going to a fancy place the nights I was dressed to the 9s.

Hunter also missed the show at Animator's because he was sea sick and had went to the room so that he would not "spoil my night" (exact quote). (Man I have a great kid) Too bad for him, not 2 minutes after he left in came Mickey Mouse. I took pictures, but hopefully this year, we will have NO sea sickness and he will get to see the show.

Cindalu, you are correct.

Per the Passporter 05 version (the Bible for all things Disney)

Day 1 is regular rotation - At Sea
Day 2 is Formal Night - At Sea
Day 3 is regular rotation - At Sea
Day 4 is Pirate Night - St Maarten
Day 5 is Around the World - St Thomas
Day 6 is Semi Formal Night (Capt's Gala) - At Sea
Day 7 is The Best of... - Castaway Cay

Now the Passport will be sending out an update soon, and if it changes I will let you know.

Its P, L, A if you want to be in Lumiere's for Formal Nights.

Does anyone else want to link ressies for late dinning? Let me know if you do. RON this includes you.

Gang,

This is a great way to get all the disboard members together (whether early or late seating). We had such a great time surrounded by everyone.

In order to link reservations, all one must do is contact the disney folks and inform them as to whom you wish to link with. Thats all.

Good luck and I hope we have a big group of diser's for the late setting!

You are all so organized! All the mutt and I know is that we have late seating, which suits me! No clue on which restaurant when. We're both looking forward to getting to know you here online and meeting you in person!

This may be a pain, but can the list of people in the group be posted on the message board (or maybe it already is somewhere)? It would help me keep track of everyone ... my memory is not what it used to be! (40's a b*tch!)

Woogal, your best bet it to have the "Keeper of the List" email you.

For those of you looking to link reservations, (as I was informed by :worship: DW yesterday), you must also have that person's ressie #. (As was also advised by :worship: DW) It would be in your best interest to share this info via email/PM.

I found the picture of Lampie w/ his special tshirt, unfortunately I do not have enough posts under my belt to share it with the rest of the board. I suppose I'll just have to post more and stuff.

Have a great day!

I know it's a little early to set a day and time for the meet, but I would like to say on our past 2 cruises we met on the first day at 3:00 in the Promenade lounge. it worked great. :goodvibes By that time most people are on board already, have had lunch and put their bags in their room, checked out the kids areas too. Plus it gave us an hour before the safety drill started and the Promenade lounge is big and has plenty of room to accommodate all of us at once without being in anyones way.

I was wondering has anybody made reservations for Palo's?? I want to eat there one night to celebrate my DH 30th birthday. I tried to book it on-line and it says it has to be 60 days ( Castaway Member) to disembarkment. Did anybody call to make reservations?? Talk to you soon :wave2:

Hi Lynn,

It's still too early. When your time comes (Castaway Club member vs. 1st time passenger vs. Top Categories), you'll be able to do everything on line. Reserve Palo, spa treatments, sign kids up for the club, and take care of your excursions. I remember staying up until midnight EST to do it for our cruise last fall, and was very disappointed that I couldn't get in. I went back to bed for 2 1/2 hours and got through at 3:00 a.m. EST on the dot. I do not know if you can do everything over the phone on that day but you'd still be hours behind any DIS fools who get up at 3:00 a.m. EST

Anybody figure our when our times will be here? Are they 45, 60 and 90 days and do you count the date of departure?

Hi all,

Sorry I can't answer the questions about online ressies - they weren't around when we cruised last Feb.

We have early seating and have one DS who will be 4 3/4 when we sail. He is BIG into Dinos, snakes, reptiles, and generally being a typical 4 yo boy. Would love to link ressies with anyone on early.

I booked the Residence Inn in Cocoa Beach for the night before the cruise. Not sure yet if we will rent a car at the airport and rtn it to the Port or just get a towncar. We want to (ok, I want to) go to Ron Jon's and maybe a few other places in Cocoa Beach before boarding. Maybe grab a few adult-bevvies to take onboard with us. I am also thinking of asking Shirley at Perfect Gift for a basket for Dutch - we'll see about that a bit closer to the sail date.

If you are a Castaway member and there are non-Casts on your reservation, my guess is that you could probably book seats for everyone under your ressie. I am also not sure how many spots one person can reserve at Palo...all I know is it is 1 Palo dinner ressie per person and 1 brunch per person. Now, I have read about folks reserving 4 spots when they are just 1 couple and inviting another couple to join them. If the other couple does the same, then each couple gets to visit Palo twice.

I do know that DCL does leave Palo spots open for those guests who do not have internet access. So, when you get onboard (as early as possible) you sprint to wherever they're taking Palo ressies and sign up. Same with the spa.

If anyone is interested in renting a car, I was able to get some good deals through Budget which is the closest agency to the port with a free shuttle. I reserved a 4 dr. Ford Focus for the drive out for $28.82 total and a Ford Escape for the ride back to the airport for $44.06. I found the best rates with the following discount codes: For the rental TO the port, I used an American Airlines code U072400. If you're not an American member, it's easy to sign up online. For the way back to the airport, I used a discount code for customers of Shaw's Supermarkets in New England. I don't live in New England but signed up for a Shaw's card online. The discount code is X724300. Now, there is a great website called FlyerTalk.com and, if you scroll down to the rental car section, you can find lots of discount codes that might work better for you. Once you make a reservation, you can keep checking to see if the rate goes down and, if so, just cancel your first one and make a new one. There's no penalty or cost to do that and Budget doesn't even ask for a credit card when you make the reservation. It's a game!

We've done the DCL bus in the past so $73 bucks (plus gas/tolls) is a heck of a lot cheaper. We will fly to Orlando Friday around noon and then we plan on getting a 4* room by the airport through Priceline for Friday night. Last fall, we got the Hyatt for $58! With the rental car, we'll be able to drive around on Friday afternoon/evening and then out to the port when we'll maybe make a grocery stop. Sure is a heck of a lot cheaper than the DCL bus.

Good morning all. Lampy - sweet prezzie - she must be thrilled. Major Daddy bonus points! :rotfl2:

Jamie - you are obviously the deal-Queen :thumbsup2 and I will likely have to ask you to remind me of all those great codes a little closer to the date. We still havn't finalized flight plans so I want to wait for that before commiting to a car/towncar etc. It's a toss-up right now btwn Westjet out of Pearson (the Int'l airport in Toronto) where we would their get my sis to drive us or park and fly there (doubtful as it is $$) or drive to BUF and fly SWA. Usually we fly out on the early SWA flight and therefore spend the night before in BUF....but I would love to avoid that expense BUT the only non-stops are early am and early pm. If we take the pm that means we lose a day in Cocoa Beach to go shopping. Oh decisions, decisions! Another clincher will be the price. SWA is always WAY cheaper than flying out of Canada, but I am hoping to have sufficient Airmiles to fly down from Toronto for free (well you have to pay the tax so I guess kinda free). I am hoping this will get sorted by the end of summer.

Some news happening around our house these days. DH has been talking for years about starting his own business. Well, looks like he will be telling his current employer on Monday that he is quitting. He and his business partner will be meeting on Tuesday with the property manager from a really neat studio/retail space downtown Toronto to discuss rental costs etc and when they can move in! In the meantime DH has projects he can complete from home. Man-oh-man I hope this works out!! It will be tough sledding for a while on just my salary, but I can't help support him in this. I figure worst that would happen is it doesn't work and he has to go back and get himself a job 'workin' for the man' as he calls it LOL. But if he doesn't try I think he will always regret it. So - wish us luck over the next few months! :hourglass

Hey Jamie! I sent you a PM. I wasn't sure what you meant when you said ACN, but I am well familiar with Accenture. Don't like those folks too much. Old Anderson people! ;) Just kidding. My old firm actually used ACN's site in Chicago for a lot of our training.

Job took me to Portland this week for a few days, so I haven't spent a lot of time on the computer. Since it was such a short trip, and the client got into the office early, we generally tried to stay on eastern time. Sad thing is that I was asleep before 9:00 almost every night!

I will have to spend some time this weekend getting caught up on posts amongst the group. I am SO looking forward to this cruise and getting to meet everyone, especially now that I know Jamie's husband and I can bore everyone to death with consulting stories. :rolleyes1

Hey Jamie - we use Accenture here sometimes - mostly Oracle database work (one of our systems is on a Siebel/Oracle base). I doubt your DH has had to travel all the way up here though!

We've been very lucky in that he hasn't had to travel as much as some consultants. He has been placed on many assignments fairly close to home (1 hr. drive or less). Never to Canada. He has, however, been on long-term projects that were out of state and that really stinks. Leaving late on Sunday night and not getting back until Thursday for 8 months straight when I'm home with an infant. :rolleyes2 :crazy2:  .

I have "nothin' but props" and deep respect for single parents. :flower3: :worship:

I just changed firms back in September because of this very reason. Last year, I spent three months in Detroit, 6 weeks in Europe, and was slated to spend 6 months in North Carolina (which I love dearly), but I was tired of it. Although DW and I have no children, it was wearing on me just being away from her every week. At the new firm, traveling is the rarity. These two trips to Portland are actually for an Atlanta client. But, I love to get out of the office, and town, every now and then, just not on the long-term assignments.

Well, Atlanta is starting out in the low 30s today and it is going to be a fairly chilly weekend. Hope everyone has a great one!

You need to put the picture on a webpage like webshots, photobucket (both allow you to post up to some specified number of photos for free, but you do have to register), or you own personal webpage. Right click on the photo and choose properties. Somewhere on the properties page is the location of the picture. Copy that url and paste it into your message: your url here and it should work.

Howdy everyone,
well I am back on line already. We lucked out as the technician was in the area so he offered to hook us up a week early.
We are almost all unpacked, so I am feeling pretty good about moving now.
Just need to have my dish washer, washer and dryer delivered today, then I can catch up on the laundry. Then I can concentrate on the cruise!!!!

I did see a scrap booking store yesterday when I was driving and I cant wait to go back and see if they have anything I can use in making my door signs.
I have lots to do so i will post again later, just wanted to let you know I was back online.
Have a great day everyone.

Wendy,
Your smart not to go to WDW during spring break. it is really crowded.
My youngest son works at guest relations and he said he's been extrmemly busy and it will stay that way until the end of the first week of April. then it's slower until the first of june.
A nice quiet relaxing cabin sounds great. When we lived in Oregon we went to the mountains all the time and camped, hiked, fished etc...
Hope you have an awesome time.

Well since nobody has volunteered to come and help me finish my unpacking I guess I am back to work again today. But first I have to do a lot of ironing of wrinkled clothes.

Ooh..Ooh... :bounce: Take DW and I with you! Gatlinburg is our absolutely our favorite place to go. We had our honeymoon there in 1998 and try to go back at least once a year, if nothing more than a quick weekend trip. Wendy, the best company I have found, as far as quality of cabins, is Mountain Laurel Chalets (http://www.mtnlaurelchalets.com/). They have a great web site where you can view the cabins. I will admit that when DW and I went up last September, I tried to use another company for a little bit cheaper price. While the cabin was decent, the savings weren't worth the difference in quality.

I hope that helps. PM me if you have any specific questions.

It has been a BEAUTIFUL week down here in Georgia. We have had highs in the 70s and lows in the high 50s. Supposed to get a little rain overnight, but probably not even enough to knock the pollen down some.

Getting ready to head back to Portland this week. Then, next Friday, I will fly from Portland to Orange County and spend the weekend with my brother and his family. I haven't been to their house since 1994. They have made several trips out here, but my schedule just did not allow DW and I to make it out there. Unfortunately, she doesn't get to do this trip, she has to stay home and take care of puppies.

Howdy everyone,
Anyone get caught on an April's fools day joke??
My DH tired to convence me that he cancelled our DCL cruises and rebooked with RCCL. I DIDN'T see the humor in that !!!
We just got back from an old fashion community festival. it was a lot of fun. We now live in a small town and everyone has been so friendly I can hardly believe it. It reminds me of how it was when I was growing up. We saw a classic car show from local people, about 25 cars, a great parade with cub scouts, youth groups, local police, firemen, lots of people on horse back and tons of kids groups and the Red Hat society had a float and a senior baton twirling group, all local people. All were tossing candy, and pencils and flowers to the kids along the way. the library had a book sale, lots of local arts and craft too. and of course food booths. Some kids who belonged to a native american dance group performed and were in the parade, they were quite good. When they finished some local band played for awhile in a grassy area where you could dance, then arabian horses perfomed in the dance area, then more music. I would be really careful danicng after those horses got through!! I didnt see any pooper scoopers there!! All and all it was great fun and we really enjoyed ourselves.
Now HD is getting ready to install my cabinets in the utility room and I am being a supervisor.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend too!!!

Tonya, i hope your car started ok this morning for you. We all know how rotton car problems can be. There is no good time to have them.

Tiggerking,
I sympathize with your long flight!!! Our families are in Portland, Milwaukie and Salem Oregon, so we have made the trip many times. Now we pay for others to come out and see us. I figure the kids and grandkids can sit all that way better than I can. But still need to go back to see my mother sometimes as flying is too hard on her anymore. Even though it takes 5 days I often take Amtrak from Florida to Oregon, at least I am comfortable and can enjoy the scenery.

Denise and Michelle,
you guys are so lucky to have graphic designers to help you with ideas for your door signs. Of course you realize the rest of us are going to be sure and check out your signs, so you'd better do an A+ job!!!

I had a feeling that when the Med cruises came out, that this would happen. I know because we were tempted to do it ourselves! :teeth:

We have done the Europe thing, and although we have not been to Spain, we have been to all the other countries visited, so we feel that besides being on the Magic, we would not be missing much. And after a long trip and flight to Japan and China, I am a little burned out on travelling right now....LOL

From past years I don't think they ever had MVMCP or MNSSHP on Saturday nights. That's one of MK's busiest evenings so it's a slim chance they will have it on a Saturday. We've been to both every year since 2002 and it has never been on a Saturday that I can remember (maybe someone can prove me wrong??).

They will probably have a party the Friday we are still on the cruise and the Sunday after. I'm making our plans to stay until Monday morning, so we can hit MVMCP on Sunday.

Happy Friday everybody! I trust that everyone has had a good week.

It has been an okay week for the business trip to Portland. One of my co-workers and I went out to a minor-league baseball game last night just to relax a little bit our last night in town.

The weather here is actually supposed to be pretty decent with a high near 70 and mostly sunny, at least until after we leave today. I am flying down to Orange County this afternoon to spend the weekend with my brother, so this should be fun. we just got back from Epcot. it was a great day, but it was hot. It hit 90 today. :sunny: The only down side to the entire day was we saw 6 cruise line buses taking happy people to the port and we wern't among them!!!
That is so depressing!!! :sad2:
Then we went to downtown disney to see Ice Age the Meltdown. It was really a cute show, :goodvibes we both liked it. i think I like the first one best, but I like them both.
I did manage to buy a Mrs. Potato head to add to my collection. Now they have eyes with pirate patches and captain mickey hats too. So I got eyes and captains hats for both mr and mrs potato head. Now they can pretend to have a pirates party like on the ship. pirate: Now I am going to dress up my stuffed characters in tropical and pirate attire for awhile.
Maybe that will help make the cruise seem closer. :hourglass
enjoy your weekend everyone,
Kathy

I did some spring cleaning today yippy...then did some yard work. All I can say is I'm getting to old for all this. :rolleyes2 Oh well, sounds like you had a really nice day today.

Does anyone know when the dates for MVMCP will come out? We are planning to attend on the Saturday that we get back from our cruise and want to amke sure it is going on then.
Wendy

We are planning on going to this on the Sunday after we return. From what I have seen, they don;t usually have it on that Saturday. We planned our return flight home (Monday) around this! I am really looking forward to it.

Hi, everyone!
Wendy---No, they don't have MVMCP on Saturdays (at least in the past) it has always been Friday and Sunday for the weekend.

We went to the Sunday, December 4th MVMCP the day right after the cruise last year, and had a great time! It was early enough in December to make it not so crowded, and being on a Sunday where there was school and work for most people kept things kinda low too. I wish we were going to the parks for a few days after this cruise too, but we have to cut it short due to minimizing costs and kids' missing school days. :teeth:

Happy Monday Everyone!

Well, I made it home from the west coast Sunday night about 9:00. I am REALLY worn out. Tough transition back to east coast time! But, it was a great weekend with my brother and his family and got to play a little golf on Saturday.

I flew out of San Diego on Sunday and we saw a Carnival cruise ship parked at the port. Made me dream even more about November. I don't want Nov. to get here too early, because that is another candle on the cake. But I do wish the cruise would get here quick! I know, I can't do one without the other.

Well, have a great week everyone!

Tiggerking,
Glad you made it back ok I hate the time change from the west to the east coast too. When we fly into Portland to visit our kids and grandkids it is great for the time change, but coming back it is so hard to adjust to a 3 hour change.

We saw so many Disney cruise line buses over the weekend, full of happy cruises!! I wish I was with them :woohoo:

If we didnt move recently we would of been on the Wonder next weekend too! Guess I will feel better once this weekend has passed and I can forget about that and think possitive for November :thumbsup2

Well, another week is gone, so we are that much closer to our cruise!!

Hope everyone has a great Monday. :bounce: Today is catch up on housework day and then to make a taco pizza for dinner. Hopefully it will be a productive monday around here. :teeth:

Take care everyone,
Kathy

Great design. I like the idea that Disney Magic should be on there somewhere. And, the spelling of Turkeys instead of Turkies.

I've missed checking up on the board. Now that the kiddies are both "full time" students, I've started a part time job as the Director of a small public library and haven't been online much. I see DenverVal will be off to Europe...have a wonderful trip. With regret, I've taken her name off the "official list."

Isn't it awful that I haven't even taken this cruise and I'm already thinking of when we can go again?!?!?!

Ladies & Gentleman:

I have spoken with the T-shirt company. If we order 101 t-shirts (adult and children sizes) the cost will be as follows:

For adults s-xl - $7.05 a shirt
For Adults xxl-xxxl - $9.05 a shirt

For Children s-xl - $6.55 a shirt

For INFANTS (can you believe it) Colors limited to White, Baby Blue, Pink, Yellow, Navy, Red & Royal Blue.

6m-12m-18m-24m = $6.50 each

I think we had agreed on Lime and they do have it in both Adult and Children sizes. :)

Just let me know what everyone wants to do, Last time I checked we were close to that amount in numbers. :)

Tonya - I would like to please order:

2 x adult M
2 x adult L
2 x child S

Also, because of my remote northern location LOL my shipping may be more. Just let me know whatever the cost.

Do you Paypal? It might be the easiest way to get the $$ to you.

I CAN"T WAIT for this Cruise!!!!!!!!!!

Today is my Birthday and I am wishing for this trip to arrive LOL. I have been talking up DH about the cruise and he is pretty excited too. Now, nobody gets as A-Type planner crazy as I do in the family, but hey - somebody has to do it! My brand-spankin-new Passporter should be coming in the mail soon so I will have that to pour over for the next little while. I have booked out room the night before the cruise - trying the new Residence Inn by the Port. Still havn't gotten flight tickets or figured if we want to rent a car or not....we'll have to see. Finally the weather is feeling positively Spring like - 17 degrees this afternoon. I think that's around 65? Anyway, really nice for us. DH is taking me out for my b'day tonight so that should be fun. DS gave me a great card this morning - I  my kiddo sometimes - too cute!

Anyway - hope all is well with everyone. :wave2:

Happy b-day Dutches.....mine is the 20th....the BIG 41. 70's here for at least the next 10 days!!!!

Here is the conversion for those north of the border....

Tc = (5/9)*(Tf-32); Tc = temperature in degrees Celsius, Tf = temperature in degrees Fahrenheit

For example, suppose you have a Fahrenheit temperature of 98.6 degrees and you wanted to convert it into degrees on the Celsius scale. Using the above formula, you would first subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit temperature and get 66.6 as a result. Then you multiply 66.6 by five-ninths and get the converted value of 37 degrees Celsius.

Below is the formula to convert a Celsius scale temperature into degrees on the Fahrenheit scale.

Tf = (9/5)*Tc+32; Tc = temperature in degrees Celsius, Tf = temperature in degrees Fahrenheit

I noticed that St. Martin is spelled wrong ... it should either be St. Maarten or St. Martin.

As far as the suitcase, you may run into copyright problems putting the DCL logo on, but it would be very cute. How about a generic ship with "Magic Bound" underneath?

Those of you on the Turkey Cruise last year can attest to this, but we had a DIS Board member who brought a stuffed Goofy w/ him to dinner every night - Goofy had his own highchair (& place setting if I recall correctly). That was humorous, but that's on the funny part.

Tonya & I would catch a glimpse (every so often) of a lady (older - grandmaesque) with a Poohbear. Mind you, it was not just any old Poohbear. She would dress it for the occasion. Yes, it had a tux on for formal night. Beach wear for our day(s) @ CC, etc. I can't recall if we saw her on Pirate Nite, but I'm sure he was dress up for that as well. . . Only on DCL - and that's why we love it! :thumbsup2

We were discussing what size would probably fit a standard Build-a-Bear and are guessing probably an infant - 12 months. DS has one (B-a-B) and it's an "eyeball" guess.

Weather in SW Missouri is trying really hard to hit 90. Now all I need is the ocean and a beach and I'm set! (Ok, an adult bev. would be nice.)

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Passover/Easter - if you're so inclined.

Warm regards,

Happy Easter to everyone!

I have a question on the t shirt sizes...does anyone have any idea if the sizes run a little smaller or larger than average?? I ask this because if DH usually buys t shirts that are L, and these ones are 100 percent cotton, and shrink, it might be a little snug if they ran a little small to begin with.... Are the sizes pretty liberal? or should I go the next size up for everyone just to play it safe? This confuses me because things can fit so differently...but I guess I would rather go too big, than too small.....
Thanks, have a good weekend everyone! :teeth:

Hi Michelle 2,
I dont know about the sizing for sure either. I asked once myself and decided to go one size larger for us, I can always wash in hot water if they are too big, but if they run small, we will be safe with it one size larger.

Good morning everyone and Happy Easter!

Kathy: Bill just told me that you live in Leesburg ... is that correct? My parents just moved from there last year and are now in Mt. Dora. They lived in Royal Highlands, just outside of town.

Yep, Woogal that's right.
We moved here about 3 weeks ago.
We are actuallyin Fruitland Park which borders Leesburg on one side. About 1/2 mile from me is the city limits for Leesburg.
We love it here. Everyone is so firendly, it is a whole different atmosphere than in Poinciana where we came from.
from my back porch I can watch 3 moo moo cows and 3 chickens. They are close enough to see, but far enough away I dont get the smell. We also can see myrtle lake from our back yard. It is a 2 minutes walk from our house, but I never go to close because I dont like the gators!!!
We feel very at home here.

Mt. Dora isnt that far away. it is suppose to be a cute little town. I havnt been there yet, but I plan on driving through there some day soon as I start to explore the towns around me.

Hope you and Bill and the priate doggie are having agreat weekend. Do you have bunny ears for the dog for Easter? I always dress up my stuffed animals for the holidays. Of course they dont object like a real dog might.
Your dog was so cute in his picture. I got a real kick out of it.

Have a great day,
Kathy

I talked to my lady that will be printing the t-shirts. She said they are 100% pre shrunk cotton and they run pretty standard on size.

I hope this helps. I hope everyone had a great Easter Weekend.

Howdy everyone,
Hope you all had a great weekend.
We had a nice quiet one for a change. saturday we went out and bought some furniture for the family room. it looks much better now. Until then we had 2 dining room tables and a china closet downstairs, but no other furniture. Everything was upstairs. So this will be nice now, so I can sit downstairs too. Plus DH is happy too, he got his big screen TV for downstairs to go with the new furniture.

Easter we stayed home and relaxed. since we live near the theme parks it can get really busy around the area on holidays, so we just stay home on those days.
Not much else going on in our neck of the woods.
But we are staring a new week, you all know what that means? We are one week closer to the cruise :thumbsup2
Have a great monday everyone :goodvibes

Good Monday afternoon everyone. Well Kathy, your right one week closer and I am sooo excited. We had a "cruise meet" this past weekend with our traveling party....I never laughed so much. This is going to be such a blast. I'm just praying that we dont get kicked out of the dining rooms :rotfl2:
We were trying to decided on certain things for the cruise :confused3 and I'm not really sure if we got anything accomplished. But we all had a good time trying to get things done.
The one thing we did decided on was all of us girls will be ordering the T-shirts...the men? were still not sure about them :lmao: .

Well have a great Monday everyone....

Had to bring clothes up, Jan?? I just got the thoughts of "suit buying days" outta my head. Its like when I was younger and mom and dad would pack me the car, head to sears and get me those toughskin jeans that were so stiff you couldn't sit down in them. Are we sure formal night can't be changed to "shorts and a panama jack shirt" night? (Not to worry, I won't rob my wife of seeing me dressed to the nines--besides, I already bought Mickey ties).
Enjoy, everyone.... and remember, November is right around the corner.

PS. Kathy, I talked to Guido, the pirate dog. He's going to bow out of the "duffle bag" thing... He gets a lil claustrophobic and didn't go for the larangitis idea. Hope its a great trip for ya!

Cruisemutt! Us gals are always looking at clothes. Besides, I need something new for my 7th DCL cruise! BTW, I never realized those Sears Toughskins were so tough! And to think I bought them for my kids 30 some years ago.

Speaking of clothes -- a funny story -- although my DH didn't think so at the time. It was September 2004 (our cruise got caught in Hurricane Jean -- no CC that cruise) and we were on the Magic getting ready to head to dinner. All of a sudden, I heard some unmentionable phrases coming from my husband. He had just realized that he didn't pack any slacks!!! Too funny -- to me it was. So, he went to dinner in shorts -- yes, he was allowed to have dinner at AP that night. Afterwards, we headed to the DCL shops and luckily, the store had 2 pr. of slacks in his size. Whew! He certainly made a lasting impression on our tablemates! By the way, Cruisemutt, my DH also has a Mickey tie he bought on the Magic several cruises ago.

7 months and 3 days until we meet.

Ok....everyone else has mickey ties too....I don't feel like such a dope anymore. And.....thanks for the gentle reminder--I'll make sure that the suitcase has slacks before I leave the house!

Two questions: Kathy, can you send me a link to the port canaveral webcam? I'd like to see that. I zoom into the port with GoogleEarth on occasion but those images are anywhere from 1-2 years old. I'd love to see a real-time image.

#2. This one is for anyone (any DCL staff out there?) Our 1st cruise was Thankgiving 05....and as spectacular as it was I actually have one whine about it. The weather was really nice the whole time--lots of sun, but on many of the days, the water in the pools was just too chilly to swim in for very long. I just wonder why they don't heat the pools for those times of the year? (ok, reading that back to myself it seems a little petty but its just a question thats been bugging me).

Enjoy the spring...summers right around the corner!
I dont want to rob DW of her summer but I'm ready to go anytime now.....

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile but I am trying to get my house clean and take care of things before the baby comes. Getting to the cruise is everybody going to do Palo's bunch the days at sea?? Did the cost of Palo's go up to $15.00 or is it still $10.00??

Is it time to talk about excursions yet? Will y'all do a Disney excursion at each port . . . or will you stay on the ship . . . or will you get off and grab a cab? Inquiring minds want to know!

Hi Bill,
here are the two links I use to see the ships.

local6.com
click on live port canaveral cam.

lately this site sometimes wont move around the entire port area like it should and will stay stuck on something other than the ships, but most of the time you will see them just fine.

also I go to
www.twopalms.com
This will show a beach shot, but the ship will go by it around 20 to 30 minutes after it leaves the port. sometimes it is a little later.

On the St. Maarten day, we just plan on doing a beach day at Great Bay Beach and then do a little shopping.

For St. Thomas, we want to do the Doubloon Snorkel or Captain Nautica and if we have time, we'd like to take the tram up to Paradise Point for the view.

On Castaway Cay, we are thinking of doing the Stingray excursion, but since this is our first cruise, I don't know if it will take up too much time.

Hello Everyone!

Well, the LPGA tournament is over and I am trying to recuperate today. I have been volunteering at this tournament for 10 years, and about 4 years ago I accepted a position as a committee chair. So, it ends up being the hardest I work throughout the entire year. I put in somewhere around 90 hours in the last 7 days. Doesn't that sound like fun? It is one of those events where you can't wait until it gets here, and then you are so happy when it is over!

I would love to hook up with some of you for Palo's brunch on one of the sea days. DW and I will definitely do Palo's one night as well, and would not mind the company then either.

I have requested the PLA rotation for late seating. Hopefully we will get it since that puts us in Lumiere's on formal night and PC on PoC night. Has anyone else requested a specific rotation?

Hello Everyone!

Just purchased our airline tickets through AirTran. I wasn't even going to check air fares this morning, and something made me check. Got a great fare - Flint, MI to MCO $228 per person with no stops. We are flying in on the 24th. With airlines increasing fares due to gas prices, we thought this was a bargain.

I think in St. Martin we are just going to walk around Phillipsburg. My DH wants to return to Last Mango in Paradise for yet another tshirt. He tells me men cannot have enough of them.

At St. Thomas, we have booked Sunny Liston for a full day of shopping, sightseeing and beach. This year he's charging $25/person. We toured the island with him last year and had a lot of fun.

The four of us (DH, Bob, Gitta and I) are booked for late seating. If Lampy wants to talk to his DCL friend about connecting all late seating DISers, count us in. That would be fun. We have no preference as to which dining rotation we get. We try to have 2 dinners and at least one brunch at Palo when we're on the Magic. Our goal is to get through dinner so that we don't miss any nighttime activities.

By the way, does anyone know if the crew is still doing their special performance on Friday evenings? Kathy? Lampy?

Yes, the crew IS still doing the special show in Diversions and Pikey is STILL the 'ballerina' from what I hear. As far as setting up the dining rotation I don't need to do that until the end of Oct. or the beginning of Nov.

We lucked out on Airfair. We used our points with AA and had to purchase a few. Still, A LOT cheaper than last year.

Excursions for us:

St. Maarten - Golden Eagle Catamaran (as per Lampy's recommendation)

We haven't decided about St. Thomas, but definately want to go to St. John to snorkel. We are leaning toward the Doubloon Sail & Snorkel, or the St. John's Barefoot Catamaran Sail and Snorkel. (get the theme here? SNORKEL!) My son is hooked and well Mom is too.

Castaway Cay - Sting Ray excursion, since it was booked up last year and we finally talked our Son into getting into the water. (I swear he'd been watching JAWS or something).

There is something new on Castaway Cay. The "Pirates in the Caribbean Scavenger Hunt", its FREE, but does require some time to complete. It looks as though there might be a prize at the end.

Everyone have a great day.

OK - I'll be gentile if you be jew. Sorry...bad pun! :lmao:

We currently have early seating but I would love to link up with our DISmates and have no problem switching to late. DS is quite flexible and I am hoping he enjoys the clubs this time around so we may be able to enjoy dinner without him - last cruise all he did was eat the butter packets at dinner anyway - much to the horror of our straight-laced tablemates! ;)

As for excursions, we are thinking of doing them on our own: St Maarten Lotterie Farm - I have checked out their website and they have a treetop cable run which looks like fun, and they also have a mini-Tarzan run for the kids which I think DS will enjoy. On St Thomas DH has been eyeing the Sub but it seems really expensive to me - $89 each plus DS and I have read some bad reviews. We may do Coral World (I think that's what it's called - the seaworld/marina type thing) and then go over to the beach next to it (Coki I think?). Anyway - we aren't really shoppers and DH is a redhead so hours lying on the beach aren't his thing - so a few hours of activity/siteseeing are plenty for us.

I do think we will do the Pirate Adventure on CC with DS if he is into it. He enjoys the whole pirate/treaure hunt idea and I think he would get a kick out of it.

Hope all is well with everyone - a cold and rainy day up here, but there are signs of spring everywhere. Ooooh - opportunity to use the dumb 'flower' smiley......... :flower1: :flower1: :daisy: :daisy: :rose: :rose: :flower2: :flower2: :umbrella:

For St. Thomas the (prevoius owner of our dealership) has a house on the beach in St. Croix and invited us over there to snorkle in his "front yard". Not quite sure if that is what we will do but.....sounds like fun!!

Welcome DisneyDarling!!!

Prices for airfare are still a little high from Los Angeles. About $367 and even more for non-stop. We usually only pay $195-$233 (for non-stop) so I'm going wait and see if the prices go down some. I'm going to fly through American Airlines since I have enough miles for a free ticket, but I'm hoping it goes down a little for the kids tickets.

Disney Darling, I am so glad to see you made it over here to join us. Don't let anyone scare you away from this group (especially Lampy)!

I am really looking forward to meeting this group on our cruise. As a matter of fact, it turns out that Momx4 has the cabin next to DW and myself (have to remeber that fact once ON the cruise as well ;) ).

Hi DisneyDarling.... nice to have you with us. DW (woogal) and I are pretty new to this as well but they're a good bunch and we enjoy chit chatting and hanging together with them for what seems to be an eternity until we set sail.

Again. Welcome!

Welcome Aboard, Disney Darling. Where are you staying pre-cruise? We'll be at SSR the night before the cruise. Anyone have any suggestions for dinner at WDW or outside WDW -- keep in mind that we don't plan to visit the parks. We don't need anything too fancy as we'll be feasting for 7 days on the Magic.

Welcome DisneyDarling :wave2:
Hi to the rest of ya'll. I have been off for a while since I got back from Gatlinburg I had a lot of work to make up for. :smooth: And today is DS 12th birthday :cool1: so its dinner with the family tonight and a fear factor party for the friends on Saturday.
I think I am in vacation frenzy we decided to take DS and his best friend (the one coming on the cruise with us) to DW the last week of June. DS friend has 2 adopted siblings from Russia and have never been so us two moms thought we would swing it on our own.
Have a great day I am off to work

Hi Jan,
There are several nice restaurants at downtown Disney . :thumbsup2 It depends on what you want to spend. Fultons crab house is a great place but very spendy. Planet Hollywood has good food and a neat theme to the restaurant too. Rainforest Cafe is a "Wild" place to eat. It is a jungle theme, set inside a smoking volcano. Every few minutes the animals come to life as your eating. Even if you dont eat here you should take the time to walk into the gift shop so you can see the restraurant side to at least see what it looks like. Planet hollywood will also let you walk up the stairs to see the theme in there if you go between rush times. It is fun to see if you've never seen it.
Captain Jack's is there too. Excellant food, awesome service, but big $$.
All of these restaurants post menus on the outside of the buildings so you can read what they have before you go in.
Earl of sandwich is there, McDonalds is there too.
My first choice for dinner is Gheradeli's ice cream place :rotfl2: I figure to start with dessert, because I may be too full after dinner for dessert, so That is the first course for me!!! :woohoo: It is vacation after all.
All of the resorts have restaurants too. If you want a buffet, I would suggest the Contempory resort . They have Chef Mickeys. It is a character dinner which makes it extra fun for everyone. I would call for a reservation for this place if possible. In fact if you eat during the typical dinner hours I would make reservations at any of the restaurants I have mentioned. Not required, but it is advised, just to save you a wait. ;)
If you want an excellant steak dinner and dont mind spending the big bucks you can go to the Yachtsmans steak house at the Yacht and beach club resort. You can pick out your steak you want cooked or order one at a specific thickness since they cut them right there. They melt in your mouth!!
This is a place we have gone to for special occassions. Also there is an ice cream shop there that has a ice cream dish called the Kitchen sink. It is huge ( for several people). That is a great way to top off an evening too!!
I know, my mind is stuck on desserts, :goodvibes but it is vacation time!!! Got to splurge. :teeth:
Anyway, these are some that are very good places to eat that are on property, but not in the parks.
Off property just head for 192 and you will find every restaurant you can think of really close by.

Hey Wendy! Glad to have you back with us. So, how was the cabin in Gatlinburg, and how was the trip? I hope the cabin didn't disappoint you!

It is a really boring week at work here. I am "on the bench" which means they don't have me assigned to a client, so I come into the office and play on the internet for a few hours and then go home. It sounds like fun, but it really is no fun at all!

I hope everyone's week is going well. I can't wait for this cruise!

New question....How many of you are planning on REALLY dressing up for Pirate night? I am talking going all out with the costumes.

Hey Tanya, if we are 214 days away from sailing......that means we are 216 days away from me regaining my crown.....you know?????

The question is..... WILL YOU BE READY??? Maybe you could incorporate some of those other smooth moves the guys had last year.

Warning to the new cruisers ( or those cruising with Lampy for the first time) That Hot Legs show is definitley not for the faint of heart, the modest, or young children..........

DH is going to REALLY dress up for Pirate night. Before our last cruise my friend who can sew made him pants, shirt and vest and this year she is making him the jacket. I may have a whole suitcase devoted to pirate night this year!. I don't know if I am going to dress up much. I didn't last time, but DH had so much fun I am thinking of doing something simple...

Work has been nuts, and that is where I can most easily access the internet, (stupid dial up at home!) that's why I haven't posted much lately.
DH and I are very excited!!! 7 more months!!!!!!!!!!
