Evening all: Just finished dinner and dishes...so now its time to relax.....

OK I have a cruise question: Kathy maybe you can help with this as this is your zillioneth cruise...... :teeth: In the packet are the luggage tags..eight of them...I know they go on saturday morning, I will not put them on friday, but my question....4 of them have my name twice on them and 4 have mine and wally's name....with 4 pieces of luggage how does this work? Do I use certain tags?

I am now getting slack from Wally...he thinks this is a very stupid question but what the heck does he know??? He thinks I use the one with both names on them.....and if he is right, I will now go and shoot myself :rotfl: Cuz I will never live this down..... :rolleyes1

Oh well......I just want things to go smooth and not mess anything up... :)

Well I see we made our posts.....Gosh are we good!!!! :thumbsup2

Will be back later...

Denise,
It is probably just a misprint on the tags with your name twice. As long as the room number is correct your luggage will arrive ok.
So go ahead and use your name first to get the better of Mr. Dreamboat if you want. ;)
They just go by the room number to deliver them, so you are safe either way,

Cheri: Funny to read that you're treking into the Chicago burbs for a haircut. My friend, Sue (who lives in the Detroit area), drove 85 miles today to mid-Michigan for a haircut. Just an excuse to get together and shop and have lunch. We shared the banana chocolate cake at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Delicious.

Jan
It is rather humorous, because I always used to be one of those "walk-in types" when it came to getting my hair done. My current hairdresser actually worked in one of those places in Rockford when my mom & I started going to her over 10 years ago!!!!

In 2000, she started working at a salon in Arlington Heights (one of the western 'burbs). I tried going elsewhere after she left, but no one else was as good. So I've decided to suck it up, deal with the traffic, and keep going to her! I make her earn her money's worth each time because I don't get in there as often as I should! :rotfl: :rotfl: But it's really worth it -- I just walk in and tell her to do whatever she wants! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was thinking that since each person is allowed two "checked" bags and one carry-on, the tags were for the checked bags?????? I think we have six tags - 2 per person.

Of course, I did have a glass of wine tonight :drinking1 (Not TWO glasses like Jan!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )

Jamie ... I just sent the updated Cruisemate List the other day, and you should have gotten it! On the 2nd to last page are all the meets. We pushed back the 3:00 on Saturday to 2:45. See you then! Check your e-mail!

Got it! Just have darn dial up and takes so long to load...dh has to get it at work. Thanks to Kathy for clearing it up for me. I told her we'll be at the 2:45 but I think I'd have some explaining to do to dh if I chose to go to the ladies meet on Monday...that's when our rasul is scheduled! :rotfl:

Thanks!!!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for not pulling my weight in the post-count category lately! Things have been pretty busy around here. Finally I have some quiet time - DS is asleep (it is 10 to 10 after all LOL) and DH has just headed out for a beer or two with some friends. I pulled babysitting duties (if only those baby monitors had a longer range...just kidding :teeth: ) which I don't really mind as it gives me a bit of down time.

We got DH's pirate outfit from the costume rental place (more $$ than I was expecting, but as another bananahead so aptly put it 'oh well, it's a vacation'). Mine STILL has not come in the mail. Although I did hound the woman and she assured me she express posted it on Tuesday night. That is REALLY pushing it to get up here in time...but I don't know what else I could have done with this lady. Anyway, fingers crossed. Otherwise I will be the grumpy one with the red bandana and jeans on LOL. DH looks great in his get-up - definately more Cpt. Morgan than Jack Sparrow but hey, beggars can't be choosers right :teeth: . And DS's costume is quite cute - and should look even better when we plaster him with the fake tattoos we got. DH and I both have enough real tattoos to go around, so it's only fair DS gets to join in the fun.

Sounds like everybody's moms are holding steady :grouphug: I can imagine it is a tough time. My mom passed away 10 years ago and it was tough, but it was quite quick (pancreatic cancer - 4 months diagnosis to dead) so I suppose it was a little easier in a way (OK, this is something you really have to say in person as it is not coming out very well online). Anyway - I guess what I am trying to say is I am glad everyone's mom seems to be doing well and make sure you hug them and tell them you love them as often as you can :grouphug:

OK - on to lighter stuff - I started packing today. I have been throwing everything into a cabinet downstairs up to this point, but started to get it all organized today. I think we are doing pretty good. I have 2 garment bags - one for all our formal/semi/dressy stuff and the other for Pirate ( pirate:  ). The formal/semi is all packed up and I've also put my shoes in there (at last count I have 8 pairs - ssssh don't tell hubby lol). The pirate has to wait for my darn ebay lady!!! :furious: The medium size suitcase has all DSs stuff (size 5s shorts don't take up too much room LOL) and my stuff that I won't be wearing until we get on the ship. I am thinking the other 1/2 of my stuff and DHs stuff can go into the large case and then we should be done. We usually don't do a big carry-on bag (the facade of luggage free LOL - until you see us at the baggage carousel  ) but because of the whole wait for suitcases on day one and having to put the cases out the night before on the last night I am undecided about bringing it. Although, on the last cruise I saw a lady with the cutest carryon and she got it from Ron Jon - so I might *forget* ours and buy one there ;) . I don't have a ton of booze to bring on board (unlike some board members who shall remain nameless but likely cheer for the Saints) but do seem to have alot of gift exchange/miscellaneous type stuff that can't be packed. If you see a green shirt on what appears to be a bag lady you have found me.

If you are still reading my diatribe - people with kids (or kids at heart) I have been picking up glowsticks from the dollar store like crazy so have lots to share with the kiddos in our group.

I got all the clipart off in an e-mail to a friend at work who is going to help format the layout for the pillowcases. THANK GOD as I was throwing darts at Martha and her damn craft skills before my co-worker came along!!! Anyway, I am going to print the stuff on the paper on MOnday at work (sssh - don't tell the boss....that would be a really lame thing to get fired over!) and hopefully have them all done on Tuesday night.

Zippy - is your DS going to dance in the talent show. I would love to see him strut his stuff. I think it is so great when a kid is so passionate!! It must choke you up to see him performing!

I absolutely cannot wait to meet everyone and am counting down the days. :woohoo: :woohoo:      :woohoo: :woohoo:

Yes he is..and he is so looking forward to it. And yes I do get choked up. I will be the one pounding on my DH's leg, I get so excited seeing him do something that brings him such joy!!

A quick little anecdote...the prima ballerina in his dance company came up to me today and told me Patrick asked her if she would "consider" being his girlfriend when he gets older!! :rotfl2:

Thank you for your kind thoughts for all of our moms, and I got the tone of your comment, didn't come across odd to me at all in writing.

(P.S.) love the fact that you used the word "diatribe", I can tell we're going to get along. You're a funky, smart gal, the best kind ;)

Well guys...I was planning on staying home tomorrow and do some cleaning and finish up some packing....just found out we need to take a ride into Chicago and pick up something from my sis-in-law. So that puts a dent in my day.

Well have a good evening everyone....I just feel very tired and think I'm gonna go to bed.

Good Evening all. Well the best laid plans of mice ane men. DH and I went to dinnner last night, shopping at Best Buy, got a call to work on Saturday. Saturday came, spent time with Sissy, went to violin recital, then to work. Need to go to store. Still haven't packed. Tried on formal, too big, oh great. So there is my day and a half in a nut shell. But yet I sit here typing to everyone. Still no DOCS for us. Ok so I need to start drinking now. he he K, off to wal-mart.

Have a great evening.

Hi Everyone!

Well we are ready to load stuff into the suitcases. Hopefully by tomorrow night that will be completed. Tonight we started decorating inside the house and DH is putting up the tree right now. We are going to decorate it on Thanksgiving Day. Tomorrow we are going to decorate outside and I may try to go and get my nails done.
DS was running a bit of a fever tonight and coughing :sad2:  . I loaded him up with some motrin and rubbed good old fashioned vicks on his chest...DD decided she wanted some too and now their end of the house smells like a vicks bottle. Remember that smell....I used to hate it as a kid but now I like it...probably because I know there isn't anything that works like it. I keep telling myself that we all came down with a little something this week so that we will be completely fine for the cruise. You should have seen what we bought at Target tonight...2 boxes of cold-eeze...halls vitamin c drops...vicks...mucinex(for DS)...I think that's it :rotfl: We are going to be well...we are going to be well....we are going to be well.....and we aren't going to get anyone else sick either!!!!!
Going to help DH finish putting up the tree.
See you all tomorrow.

Happy Sunday to all,
I thought I'd better warn everyone that the weather in Florida isnt quite what you want right now :sad2:
The predicitons through Wednesday is highs in the 60's and our lows and in the upper 30's and low 40's. But we will have :sunny:

Now I know we Floridians did say the weather would be warm and sunny, but this is NOT our fault!!! Right Pat?? :confused3

I did write to Santa and asked him to please ask Mother Nature to give us a beautiful warm Saturday next week. So if it's still cold it is Santas fault!
Of course I may be on his naughty list this year, can't say why, but that may have something to do with the weather :rolleyes1

So keep your jackets handy, you may just need them on Saturday morning.

Glad to hear everyone is about ready to go!!

Good Morning Nanas soon to be Cruising Nanas!!!

I have a question for the females on this thread. This means guys, skip this post!!! I am going to do something tomorrow night that I have never done in my entire life and I am 55+ years old! A pedicure! I need suggestions about nail color. Should I go subtle soft pink, bright red? As an "old lady" trying something new in my life, I need help! Also, how long will the nail color last? Such problems to ponder on a Sunday morning.

Doing the cruise dance :dance3: as I have three days of work left and 5 days until we get on the plane.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Morning all: Wow, I just cant believe a week from today will be our first full sea day....... :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I will be up at sunrise taking pictures of everything......Kathy.....ya better hope Santa listens to ya. At this point 60 degrees is fine as long as there is sun and no rain......I can deal with that.

Well we have decided to hold off on our little drive into chicago for today....which means I can get my cleaning done and finish up some packing. People at work think I'm nuts for packing so early. But when I explain to them that most of it is stuff I am not wearing anyways, then they seem to understand... The key word there is "seem to" :teeth:

Yup three more working days here also......and they better go darn fast.....

Well just finished up breakfast, now I have to go and finish cleaning up the mess in the kitchen.

I am also thinking may have to take my dog Jack to the vets tomorrow, it looks like he may have an eye infection. I'm telling ya, if it aint one thing with dogs its another. :confused3

DS isn't doing so well right now  but hopefully later today things will start improving. If he has the virus that's been flying around that's about the timetable for it..otherwise it's off to the Dr. in the morning.

Well..our tree is up and the lights are on and the house is starting to look festive and clean! We've got some more stuff to do today with the outside decorating but I think by tonight we will be in good shape. I plan to actually put stuff in suitcases and bags today to see where we're at and to go over a checklist at the same time. I think I've been able to keep the shoes to a minimum (yay) and later I will sort thru jewely and extras. Things are coming together nicely. Now if only I could find time to get my nails done!

We've also been watching weather.com and it's looking pretty good for Saturday...let's keep our fingers crossed!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Good morning, Banana Heads

It's so weird ... I was expecting so much chaos (I was going to write KAOS but thought it might date me) this weekend in final preparations for the cruise, but honestly I think we have everything under control. Well, everything except Guido. He keeps trying to put toys and treats in the suitcases and we keep trying to explain that when we say "WE'RE going on a cruise" that it doesn't include him. :rotfl:

The forecast right now for here shows Friday to be in the 50s, so my worst fear of not making it to the airport due to a blizzard is slowly dying. Course, in Ohio, that can change in a heartbeat.

Jan, good for you!! I'm a tad flamboyant, so I'm going to have flowers and crystals on my toes. I was going to get a hidden Mickey but my husband would probably never stop rolling his eyes at me.

Since this is your first you probably want to do a nice Coral shade. If you're feeling adventurous you could get a red color. If they put a couple top coats of clear on them, they should last the whole cruise. If you need a touch up you'll have the perfect excuse to go to the spa :cloud9:

Make sure you bring sandals with you to the salon, so you don't smudge them right away.

Have fun! :thumbsup2

5 days until we leave! Woo-Hoo! Everything is officially packed except for the last minute stuff that I will pack on Thursday like the cell phone charger, homework :crazy2: , etc.

My kids have a half day on Wednesday and they've already been "warned" that they will spend that time working on the homework so they don't have to bring so much along.

Now for important stuff...toenail polish color. For this crucial decision, I like to take my swimsuit color into consideration and also weigh outfit shades as well. For me, it will be a reddish-coral.

Next week, we'll be "at sea!"

Cars

Deja Vu

Shaggy Dog
The Guardian
The Prestige
The Wild
Stick it
Step Up
Invincible.

I just  the people at the Reservation line. They're so helpful :cheer2:

Our Wonderful Disney Cruise: How I See it All Unfolding

An Essay

At 7 a.m., Dad awakes us, saying "WE ONLY HAVE 5 HOURS TO GET YOU THERE! GET UP!" even though it's only a 2-hour drive, tops. Ah, Dad yelling at get me up. Just like the old days. I sure hope he's forgotten about the turn-on-the-lights-in-the-bedroom-that'll-wake-your-a**-up trick.

As we travel towards Port Canaveral with Mom and Dad, we cross over the massive 1A bridge and behold the beauty of the Disney Magic. In the back seat, Bill and I become giddy and giggle like school children, making Dad gun it, just to get us the "heck" of out of the car. Hugs and good-byes, "have a nice trip", and we're off to check in.

As we go into the terminal, the fresh smell of alcohol and dead crawfish lingers. We know that Mike and Wendy have dutifully arrived before us.

So much to look at, so many to see ... we look for green shirts. We see one! We consult the cruisemate list ... is it? Yes! That's her! We grab that person from behind, whip her around, and realize that we have no idea who she is. The front of the shirt says, "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine." Drat! A crummy commercial! We apologize profusely to the frightened unidentified co-cruiser, making note to avoid her throughout the rest of the trip, and head towards the ship.

After the initial running around, eating, etc., we make our way to the Family Meet with regional gift in hand. I wonder how my tiara will look over my tuque? I think it will work.

Every member of the crew knows Kathy and Greg on a first-name basis. Jeff sits at the bar buying drinks for ... just about everyone at this point (Go Browns!). Steve thanks me again for Pat's makeover, Stephen curses me for it. Bob resigns himself to the fact that he cannot get the captain to change the ship's horn to the Dukes of Hazzard theme. From across the room, I see a vision ... yes, it's Dream Boat Wally  . I run to get my hug, but find that I have to stand in line for my turn.

And that's just some of how I see it all unfolding.

Good morning everyone!

A beautiful :sunny: windy & cold morning here! :sad2: At least the sun is out and I'm not planning to do any outdoor projects.

I'm just taking a break from straightening the house & doing laundry. Going to finish packing everything that can be packed now, and then will throw the rest of the stuff together Thursday night or Friday morning. I'm also going to split up our clothes so we each have a few changes of clothes in each suitcase. We've never ever had lost luggage, so I'm preparing for it!

pixiedust: pixiedust: to anyone who is, was, or is thinking about getting sick! :grouphug: :grouphug: to anyone with loved ones with ailments.

Can you believe we're under a week???? :hourglass Time is flying by!

Talk to everyone later!

But it won't be this morning. We're off to rehearsal for the Nutcracker! Apparently Patrick is given a headless teddy bear in the ballet, and has to burst into tears. I wouldn't want to be the one to decapitate that poor bear :sad2:

They will have to let our group on board because we have a new musical group to perform called Tiara Bob and the Dreamboats! :rockband: They are the 8th wonder of the world and a part of our group!!
If y'all dont get off, all the women will riot and cause a scene. They have been promised front row seats at their debut performance, an dyou know how violent women can get about their idols!!

So for your own safety I suggest you disembark on time or you may be hurt in the stampede or blamed for the riot at the terminal.

Josh,
I have read about many different famous people who were on the ships before, so you never know who you might see. :goodvibes

We had Lynn Swan a former football player and sports announcer once. We wern't aware of who he was . :confused3
We were all on an excursion together and my husband pulled on a wet branch to shake water on our grandaughter, of course when he did this a man yelled out too. :lmao:
He soaked Lynn Swan, but didnt know it at the time. DH appologised and we all had a good laugh, finsihed our excursion and went back to the ship. :rolleyes1

While standing near the family pool I saw the man who Greg and drenched with cold water, he was posing for pictures and signing autographs.
I called my husband over and asked, hey isnt that the guy you drenched and he said Ya, i wonder who he is?? T
hen we realized who he was and he had been giving lectures on board that week. Boy was Greg :guilty: and

He appologised again and then Lynn posed with our grandaughter for pictures. he was a very good sport and a really nice man to talk with. :thumbsup2

So Keep your eyes open at all times, on the islands too, many famous people have homes on the islands too.

I'm still crossing my fingers that Naveen Andrews will show up ... and stay in the room next to ours  I think Bill would love to see his woman, Anne Curry, or Dave Grohl (who he likes in a MUCH different way) :lmao: .

Kathy, I just saw a special the other day that many stars have homes on St. John because it's so secluded and quiet. Can't remember who off hand. But anyone going there, keep an eye out for celebs. :sail:

Lauri,
nice picture, you have good reason to be proud!!

Shell,
we are agoing to st. johns, we have been before on an eco hike and at the end of the hike we came across an exclusive resort for the rich and famous. No phones, or TV or radios allowed. It is total seclusion for them. we couldnt see anybody where we walked but that is one place people stay once in awhile.
At Nassau on paradise island there are lots of stars homes, michael jordan, oprah, and a bunch of others I cant remember now but they were pointed out to us on an excursion once.

so star watching on all these islands is a good idea.

night all,

Good Morning
Well this morning we are in the 30's here in NY!!! It's cold and I can't wait till we are on the cruise in the warm weather :sunny: :sunny: !! DS and I :car: are heading out early because I have to drive down to my in-laws and to the Mall by their house. Tonight we are having alittle cake again for DH's Birthday (today's his real birthday). He is working late all week because he wants to finish things before we go on vacation. He really needs this vacation :woohoo: :woohoo: !!!

I have a name for our Cruise Line Meets Thread- Sailing with Tiara Bob and the Dreamboats and the Dancing Bananas . I will start it just let me know what you guys think!!!

disneediva: DH's Thank you

Kathy: Does the cruise have Santa on it to take pictures with????

Good morning all,
ok, i got a PM from cody's mom who is on our cruise thread but hasnt posted in awhile, they had to cancel, :sad2: so you can cross thier names off the list you have.
I was sorry to hear that, hopefully they will get to go again soon.

Bob,
I am with you, we need to keep in touch on this thread after the cruise too!! There are a couple of other groups that have done that, just think how many posts we could get here?? Maybe we could break the record, what ever that is?
Lynn,
Santa Goofy is on the ship and sometimes he can be seen riding a jet ski on CC, so keep an eye out. ;)
We should have a tree lighting ceremony the first night, which is fun and he will appear there as well as Pluto with antlers. One lucky family is picked to help light the tree with the characters and when all is done it snows in the atrium!! :rolleyes1 It can be crowded, but well worth going to and they only do this one time per cruise.

We are 39 degrees this morning, gotta love Florida weather, 80 one day 40 the next?? It is suppose to be NO rain and mid 70's by afternoon on saturday. heard the Buffalo area is suppose to get the white stuff today, so hope all of you in those areas have better weather by the time you have to fly!! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Gotta go out and buy food for Thanksgiving today, and get all our cruise clothes washed and dried. They arnt dirty but they have been hanging in the closet since the last cruise, so we may smell musty if I dont wash them first, of course we OLD people often smell musty anyway. It comes with age :lmao:

Minnie let out a loud yelp last evening from the dining room and was limping badly. we dont know what happened but she actualy had tears from the pain. After a couple of hours she was walking on it again with a limp and this morning she is fine. I guess whe must of jumped or something and twisted her front paw. If it appears to bother her today, I will have to take her in, but so far she seems to be doing ok. Sure wish I knew what happened, no sharp things in the carpet, I checked. Guess we'll never know. :confused3

Well gotta go everyone, lets keep up all the chit chat and we will make 6000 posts before the cruise, remember we will be loosing people as they come to Florida so each day there will be less of us to post. :surfweb:

Morning everyone....

Kathy....sorry to hear about Minnie...sometimes dogs just land wrong jumping or just do something that throws them for a loop...ahhhh...the wonders of dog ownership (btw, they own us, y'know---right, Denise????).

Anyways...sorry about your 39 degrees too. I just got here....(normally a 1/2 hour drive....1 hour---not so bad) but as many northerners will tell you, I saw what most find a really unsettling sight, the first salt trucks of the year... :sad2: I'll bet my wife has a similar story to tell....cars going for a spin literally, wondering if they salted the bridge that you are going over currently, etc...

Anyways....I really really wanna see the ocean blue...anytime soon will be oke- doke...(no, not you okie).

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning Everyone!

Welcome Gordon - glad you joined us.

I am putting out a desperate plea for all of the well wishes and get well pixie dust this thread can put together...our son still isn't feeling well and is still running a fever with a pretty bad cough. I am taking him to the Dr. as soon as I can get in there this morning...I'm almost hoping it's some sort of sinus infection or something...couging doesn't sound like it's in his chest..more in his throat and stuff. If it's an infection we can get an antibiotic and get him feeling MUCH better in a day or 2. I'm really getting worried that we might have to cancel the trip. I'm fighting back the tears as I type. :sad1:

I'll check back later and let you know what's up.

Thanks-

Not much happening here. Went to "the mall" Saturday -- Lynn, you should be proud! :rotfl: -- only went to Sears for vaccuum bags & Disney Store for stuff for DD. Grabbed the rest of the necessaries (like paint chips from Home Depot!) yesterday so hopefully we're all set!

Went to Huntley for the birthday party Friday -- I did see the sign advertising the Turkey Test**** Festival on the 22nd. Since I can't bring any as the regional gift, anyone want to place a special order???? I'm sure we could have them sent straight to the ship as a welcoming gift. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Do you sing??
A group of the men here have formed a group called Taira Bob and the Dreamboats for Karoake night. From what I have read they still need someone who can sing. They are can lip snyc but that is about it. :lmao:

Our family meet is at 2:45 in the Promenade lounge the first day. It will be easy to find the lounge, it is open air and you will walk by it as soon as you walk out of the atrium when you board the ship, they will urge you to go to the left fo rlunch and you will walk right by it on your left.
We will be easy to spot because of all the bright lime green shirts you will see. That is where you want to be.

Plus some of the adults are meeting for a drink at Signals bar by the adult pool the first afternoon at 1:01. If your on the ship by then, please drop by and say hello. :thumbsup2

If it gets confusing, just ask someone where Kathy is and I'll introduce you to some people. I am easy to find, I am the semi old lady with the BIG mouth :rotfl2:

1. Brown pork chops (don't have to be cooked all the way through)
2. Place chops in crockpot
3. Cover chops with 1 box of prepared pork-flavored Stove Top stuffing
4. Cover stuffing with 1 can of apple pie filling
5. Turn on the crockpot; cook on medium for about 4 hours

Good morning everyone!

Welcome Gordon  We are the official Canadian representatives on this cruise - eh.

Well, there was snow on the cars this morning :scared: I suppose it just makes the cruise look better and better!

I got most of our packing done this weekend. DH has still not given me ANYTHING to pack. So....if you see a missing-link-orangutang type thing running around do not fear, it is only DH.

Re: the pedi discussion - I go for pink - and Lauri, I too have a flower and some 'bling' on my toes. Although my right 'bling' came unglued (tick me off!) so I am kinda mismatched

So far the family is holding off the sickness. DH was complaining about a bit of a throat tickle this morning so I demanded he dose himself today. Fingers crossed.

I roped a friend of mine into helping with the pillowcase iron-ons and I think they look quite nice. I haven't ironed them on yet, but will hopefully tomorrow. I have to buy one more pillowcase today and then all should be done.

My pirate costume is still MIA - I am PRAYING it shows up tonight. It will be my luck to come home Wed after look and have one of those UPS stickies on my door saying to pick it up, but the store will be closed and won't open in time for me to get there before we have to leave! Anyway, I am trying not to think about it :furious:

Otherwise, things are good here. I think I have all my directions mapquested and all my confirmations printed out.

Bob - what time are we meeting at Grills Friday night??

Only 3 days of work for me - we fly out on Thursday. Hope everyone has a great day!

So Illness has visited the JD99 house once again and this time, it's ME. I am not worried about it as I WILL soldier through and get to this cruise if they have to take me on in a stretcher. What I am worried about is the girls catching anything from me. I'm trying to keep my distance and have washed my hands so many times in 24 hours they are raw. So I could use just a little pixie dust. Send the majority to Kelly - I just need a shot to make sure the kids don't catch whatever I have!

Happy Monday to all. See you all in a few days. (YIKES)

Bob - what time are we meeting at Grills Friday night??
Sarah, we are meeting at 7:30 at Grills. That will allow Tonya and her family to make it to Cocoa from MCO. I will wear one of my lime green shirts so you can spot me!

Gordon: Welcome aboard. Beware of the ones called Wendy and Shell...they are DANGEROUS! :rotfl2:

Jeff: Fell better, buddy! :sunny: I am going to the doctor to get drugs for a sinus infection either today or tomorrow. Not worried about that, as the salt air will help it. My biggest concern right now is the level of pain in my left knee. I hope it doesn't infringe too much on my ability to snorkel and walk. That would REALLY cause me pain to not be able to do those things! :scared1:

Good Morning all.

Welcome Gordon. When you see the SEA of green coming toward you, you are more than welcome to just join us. Glad to have you aboard. hehe

Well I got some packing done yesterday. Bathing suits, tiara, t-shirts. As if I need anything else. Anywho, Sarah DH has only packed his bathing suits, so I feel your pain.

We cleaned house this weekend, really didn't want to come home to a dirty house. So at least thats one thing off my list.

I hope that Linda is having a great time in FL. But I wish it would be better weather for her. But you take the world anyway you can get it.

GET BETTER to all of those are sick. DS came home with a cough from his fathers, he got double the vitamins this morning, and extra b-12 pill, OJ and some toast. So hopefully we can get this stopped before it starts. I will be praying for all of you that you stay healthy before and during the trip. We don't want to be like that other cruise line and end up with a majority of us sick for the cruise.

Have a great MONDAY, for next MONDAY we will be at sea. arhhh.....

Welcome Gordon and Family!!!! Cruising will be me and DH Dave (our 7th DCL cruise), and friends, who have never cruised, Bob and Gitta. We live in mid-Michigan. Snow flakes were falling yesterday.

Kelli: pixiedust: to your son, Kelly, for a speedy recovery.

Jeff: Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. Hopefully, Mina and the girls will stay healthy. So, excessive washing of hands, a little OCD, huh? :rotfl: Just have to get a smile out of you. No excuses in missing this cruise, as you owe me two :woohoo: :woohoo: drinks!!!

Pedicure: Going for my first pedicure tonight. Thanks, ladies, for all the suggestions. Hope the polish doesn't wear off before you meet me at 2:45 pm on Saturday.

Packing: Dave and I finished packing yesterday, except for a few last minute items to pack Thursday afternoon. By the way, Dave does his own packing. Months ago, I mentioned that 2 cruises ago, he was packed a week before the cruise but forgot to pack pants. He wore shorts the first night, then luckily he found a black pair in Treasure Ketch that fit him.

Shell: Thanks for the pork chop recipe. Dave won't like it with apple pie filling -- too sweet for him, but I'm going to make it when we have company sometime.

Any DVCers on our cruise? We signed up with DVC as being interested in the cruise and hope to book the 2007 DVC member cruise on 12/2. I'm going to ask DVC if we get the discount as we would be booking within the 3 day window post-cruise.

Have a great day everyone. See all of you in a few days.

Hey Jan ... honestly, you don't taste any sweet in this recipe. The herbs from the stuffing combine with the sweetness of the filling and really diffuse it. I hate super-sweet stuff, too, and worried this would be, but it's not.

Jeff - this is for you pixiedust: I do hope you're feeling better soon.

Shell - I had to get my looooooooooooong golden locks cut off and my hair colored. The blonde just didn't suit my skin tone. So I hope you all recognize me on Sat morning. I did put on a few extra pounds the past couple of days, those darn snicker bars, so I won't be wearing my tight leather pants either. Hey everyone....:thanks: :thanks: Thanks so much for your well wishes and extra special doses of pixie dust...we just got back from the Dr. and he said...go on your vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: He says it's a bad cold and just do lots of nose blowing and saline spray over the next few days so that it doesn't develop into an infection. He has called in a prescription for us to take with us "just in case"...he says there's no need to give him anything now. I think he's concerned John may wind up with an ear infection from the plane ride. I feel so much better now...sorry about the momentarily lapse of insanity this morning...I think I was feeling overwhelmed by everything we have been doing around here the last week or so....cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning...decorating for Christmas...final stages of packing...nursing John in the middle of the night....I'M EXHAUSTED but much happier than I was this morning.
Don and I have been taking zinc stuff since Saturday...sucking on vitamin c drops and washing our hands like crazy. I've washed all the sheets in the house...doused everything with lysol multiple times a day and I'm leaving windows open a bit during the day to keep fresh air flowing.

Shocking, I know...but I still have questions. I can't remember from our cruise in August how we handled this but does the guest services desk cash traveler's checks if we need some cash? Or do we just use an ATM on one of the islands? And if they will cash em - is there a limit to how much? Thanks in advance. Sorry I forgot about this one!

Kelly I am sorry DS is still sick, but glad you will be going with us!! DD is still fight something. She has a cough and a plugged up nose. NO FEVER. She is doubling up on her vitamins. She does't want to try to airborne. I will be taking it though.. Some one asked what it is. You take it at the 1st sign of a cold or when you are going into a crowd like an airplane or a cruise ship. We'll see if it works.

Oh my gosh!!! I was going to ask the same question! I was just getting ready to go to the bank and was wondering if I should just use my ATM and bring a little cash or do the traveler's check.
Pat

Just asked on the main board per Kathy's suggestion. When I get an answer, I'll post it here.

everyone I know who ahs brought a gift on board has wrapped it after getting on board. But i do not know what the exact rule is??
I am leaving mine unwrapped, but i measured and cut the paper to fit the box already, so only need to bring scotch tape.

OK, so just for fun I called DCL to see if they had any availability on any Suites. They do have a Cat 3 available for the :scared: price of $11 145.85 ffor 2 adults and 1 child. So, if anyone happens to win the lottery in the next day or so - you have a place to spend your winnings! :rolleyes1

Here is the answer I got re traveler's checks...

Last time I was onboard the Purser would cash travelers checks. I have no idea as to a limit or any such thing, I was able to cash $100 at a time easily enough.

Jeff: Are your losing bets putting you over your budget??? :rotfl2:

$11,000+ for a Cat. 3!!! Yikes!!! Does that include air, excursions, alcoholic beverages, cappucino, and tips? Or, maybe that means you can cruise a back-to-back....

Lorna: Good for you that you got a massage today. Are you sleeping now? I am looking forward to the pedicure.

Cashing Checks: I remember cashing checks at guest services, but I know it would not have been for over $100.

Shell: Thanks for the updated final revised list of us Nana Heads. Another to-do activity on board is the last night for the cruise talent show at approx. 10:45 pm. Warning, your stomach may hurt a lot from laughing so hard. :thumbsup2

Gotta get back to work.

You see ladies and gentlemen (terms loosely used!) - I told you it was cold here! Tomorrow is suppose to be down in the low 30's. Forget what the weather channel tells you! I don't know where they get their stats from. I had to put on the heat to warm up the house this a.m. I asked my dh to get us firewood for the fireplace! Now, some encouraging news, on Friday it's suppose to be in the low 70's. Maybe we'll have a warming trend. :confused3

Thanks Lorna. I noticed you had a 7 year old DD traveling with you. Mine is 8 and will be checking out the lab. Will your DD be doing any of the clubs? I thought I'd share a thought with you from our last cruise. Our DD was nearly 8 on last cruise but didn't want to bump up to the lab because she didn't want to be the youngest there. She regretted it afterward because the activities were a little too young for her. Just thought I'd let you know that and if your DD is hitting the lab, mine is too as is another young girl with whom my DD has communicated via email. I always think it's nice to have a "friend" going into it...

I didn't catch the show, but there is one problem with 80's music. I am a baritone, and most of the guys in the 80's sang more like women than men. Very few songs that would work on karaoke without causing me MUCH pain! :lmao:

Cheer up -- #2 was Pour Some Sugar On Me (Def Leppard) and #1 was Living on a Prayer (Bon Jovi). At least those guys are "manly" men without the extra makeup! :rotfl: However, #3 was Hungry Like the Wolf (Duran Duran). :rotfl2:

Cheri - thanks for asking. The good news is that I'm feeling better. The bad news is that DD 2 1/2 is coughing at night again. Those who have followed the saga know that she had a bout of pneumonia not long ago so we are on pins and needles. She has not developed a fever and is "acting" relatively normal (whatever that is for a toddler)...so faith...trust and pixie dust...

From the local Florida weather website:

A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

Hi everyone!

Just popping in to see how everyone was doing. I thought I was getting sick on Sunday so I took my Airborne and popped my vitamins, and went to bed early! I did not want to be sick! Hopefully it was just the country air (we went to visit my inlaws) that I wasn't used to.

Are we excited?! :teeth: :teeth:

Putting in airport codes, here is what I come up with on Weather.Com for our trip.

11-25 MCO - High 77 Low 53 Precip 10 percent
11-28 St. Maarten - High 86 Low 75 Precip 60 percent
11-29 St. Thomas - High 85 Low 77 Precip 60 percent
12-1 Nassau -- High 80 Low 65 Precip 10 percent
(I know this isn't close but it's the only bahamas airport it would do)

Lauri Have a safe trip. Nice toes! :thumbsup2 I wish I had a hidden Mickey.

Jeff Both of my girls will be in the Lab club. I know my yongest will want to be with her sister. I would love for Madison to meet your daughter. She is kind of shy. We can introduce them at the meet. My older daughter is 10 and she gets along with everyone.

Checked out the Bahama weather, it looks chilly there too. I think Florida is suppose to start warming up by Thursday. We fly in Thursday and it looks like it is suppose to be 68.

Did not get as much as I wanted done today. I went to see my frined and her new baby. I wanted to get a quick visit in before we leave. Got my baby fix for the week. :cloud9:

Off to clean the bathrooms. Least favorite thing to do. I put it off as long as I could.

I've been on the phone, to the bank, out to lunch with my  , and even talked to the dog about our up and coming adventure. Everyone around me is sick to death with the words Disney Cruise. I did see on the local channel that on Sat. the weather will be in the mid 70's!

Jeff - how is Emily? Boy I hope she gets better soon.
I'm glad to hear that everyone else is doing/getting better.

Lynn - how are you packing Drew's baby food?

Going out to dinner tonight with my dd and her husband. She isn't going to be here for my b'day so we will celebrate it tonight with her.
Still haven't gotten my door signs completed. Don't know if I'll get to complete them before we leave.
With all this stressing I'm doing I just may join all the elbows at the bar! Just hope someone will be able to walk me back to my room. I don't want to fall off the ship!

Note how I am adding to the count Kathy!

I finished the girls' pillowcases and I think they turned out quite well if I do say so. Dh just got out of a meeting for work (darn workaholic!) so did not make it to Walmart to get me the one more pillowcase I need for DS. So...I will run there tomorrow morning (gotta love Walmart - it opens at 7am) and finish up his pillowcase tomorrow night. Otherwise I think I am pretty good. I am running all the wash right now and will pack all the remaining items tomorrow. Our taxi comes to the house at 7am on Thursday and we'll be in Orlando by about 1pm. Man - I can't believe it is so close. I alternate between panic that I will forget something and such excitement that my stomach feels funny. I cannot wait to meet you all - I have been trying to memorize names from the cruise list - but if I call you your online name for the first few days do not be offended LOL.

Okie - sorry to hear about your mom - that has gotta be tough! Hang in there. :grouphug:

OK, gotta go and try and solve DHs e-mail crisis. Talk to you all later!

Safe trip to everyone heading out, I can't wait to meet all of you guys!

Lynn:: I caved, I registered Madison for the nursery for 2 hours (1 hour on Thrs. and 1 hour on Friday). When will Drew be there?

I have to repack b/c the luggage is over 50 lbs, but it's crazy, the luggage itself must be like 15 pounds itself! I have to repack everything and distribute them evenly in other luggages so I won't have to pay the over weight charge. :confused3 And the pack rat that I am, I'm having trouble with it.

Ok, have a great night everyone!!!
