funny story about the bed, DS9 was all excited- it was going to be his!!! DD14 could care less- anyway, he was really worried that first night- remeber how rocky the ship was- was afraid he would roll out, and after that night, they had to alternate!!!
I'm not sure I ever got the whole story abou the cheez whiz- evidently he brought it out in his trunks- but what was the real purpose? (I am sure Lampy would misinterpret that ques.... :rotfl2: )
1) The ship was rocking? Thank goodness, I thought I had too many to drink! :rotfl2:
2) Me misinterpret anything......not while I have Andrew to "straighten it all out"!

Ron your the expert on outings. What do you suggest for the Eastern Cruisers?
We did the Golden Eagle in 03 and it was AWSOME! The front of the catamaran was like a trampoline and the waves kept crashing up....One down side.....being a DCL excursion there is NO DRINKING until you snorkle :confused3 I remember getting off on the island and the captain of the catamaran said "This is St. Maarteen and you "family" folks might not want to go left!" So I did......clothing was optional!! :cool1:
St. Thomas we took the "tram" to the top of the mountain and had lunch the shopped.....7 oz. Heinekin every time DDs purchased something.....buy can they shop! :rotfl2: We should have dome another excursion...all the ports are the same, Nassau, Freeport, Cozumel, GC, Costa Maya, St. Maarteen, St. Thomas......same stuff! We regretted not doing an excursion!

I will only go through DCL excursions next time. I liked Tequila Beach, but from the sounds of things, yor excursion was way cool. Plus, we won't have to worry about whether or not we will get our money back if we end up not going to a certain port.

Last September, we did not book any excursions in St. Maarten. We walked around town with DISers, Andy (Xbearx) and Ginny (Gdulaney), and had way too much fun. In St. Thomas, we booked Sunny Liston and had a fun day. Some shopping, some touring of the island, then Sapphire Beach for a few hours. One word of advice -- don't book the Under Two Flags (or something similar to that) for St. Maarten. It was not good at all. Many other DISers have said the same thing to us. In St. Thomas, we booked the Trunk Bay excursion through DCL. What a beautiful place. We thought about doing that again, but really enjoy spending the day with Sunny.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Sarah,
When we were in Cozumel we took the kids (then 7 and 5) on one of the Disney excursions that was in a semi-sub? It had glass walls where you could see the marine life and wasn't ever totally submerged. The kids really enjoyed it (think "finding nemo"). Not sure if they offer anything like that on Eastern or not. I haven't even considered excursions yet. Right now, I'm trying to figure out transportation to port and lodging for night before.
Jamie
We stayed at the radisson by the port the night before- they have a great pool (unfortunately we got there late at night). They also have a shuttle to the port the next am

Just re-checking back in to say hello!
We will also be staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise too...either that or Ron Jon's for a change. My DH really liked the area, so we were thinking about getting there Thursday instead of Friday.
As for excursions, we just did our own thing at St. Maarten's too, the kids just loved being at the beach, so we stayed close and just went to Great Bay beach.
St. Thomas we did the Captn Nautica excursion with just me, DH and DS12. It was great fun...but maybe this time we will do the Trunk bay one. Just something with snorkeling, and that goes to St. John....
I am so excited, I cannot believe it is only 10 months away. I remember when it was only 10 months away this time last year, and the rest of the time went by sooo fast! Can't wait to meet everyone. :goodvibes

We stayed at the Radisson also. Hunter got up early and insisted that we go swimming in the "cool" pool. We didn't take the shuttle, we used a Budget car from the airport. We drove to Budget in Coco and they drove us to the Port. We were the only ones on the shuttle over to the Port. It was great.

Hi Everyone! Wow has this thread grown! It will take me an hour to read all this!
I've been very busy and haven't spent much time on the pc. (we just finished a water percussion concerto, very, very cool!)
Anyway, what have I missed that I need to do right a way? Is someone taking names, ect and has a meet already been arranged? bTW, does anyone have a count until our sail date?
I am looking for a good diet. I would say that I am 25 pounds overweight. Anyone have any success stories to share?
Well, I'll catch up on my reading!

Hi Shelley,
Glad to have you back.
Fourfoxesinpa has a list started for all of us. Just send her all your information and she will add it to the list.
We have really been growing the past month. It is a little soon to set a meet on the ship, I think. Because people would forget by cruise time. Other Dis meets i have gone to have always been in the Promenade lounge at 3 p.m. on the first day. I do not know what people on this thread will want to do, but I know we will meet sometime on board.
Have fun catching up on your reading.

Hi Shellie,
After searching around the DIS, I started "THE LIST" and was able to find your room category, your names and girls' ages, dining selection, home state and description of what your girls like to do. It sounds like your little Joy would get along just fine with my Meredith who will be 8 at the time we sail, but, unfortunately, they'll be in different clubs. :sad1:
I wish I could give you a great success story but I'm in the same boat you are. Back in my size 14 "fat pants," as I call them. I can say, however, that when I have tried and STUCK to the South Beach Diet, results were quick and I didn't find it too hard to stick to. I just need to get motivated again! Too many Christmas cookies and candy!
As for a countdown, I need to find a new ticker...All I know is that it's TOO FAR AWAY!!!

We had two DIS meets on our last trip. The first was in Parrot Cay at lunch time and if you missed that one, we gathered on Deck 10 for the Deck Party and were easy to find because of special TShirts. But, all the kids wanted to be on Deck 9 and it was loud so I didn't think that was the best place to meet up.

We have gone to a Dis-meet during sail away and one at 3 in the promenade lounge. I didn't care for meeting during the sail away party. There is too much going on and it's hard to really get to chat with everything going on!
the promenade lounge is NOT busy at 3 on the first day, and it was a great place to meet up!

I agree with Kathy for meeting at the Promenade Lounge at 3pm. We had DIS meets there on our last two Magic cruises. Hard to believe that 10 months from now, we'll have received our cruise docs, made online ressies, and have suitcases opened in our spare bedroom.

:cool1: I can't really comment on a meet since I've never been on the Magic before. I haven't cruised since, well many years ago. I am so very excited! We'll be wherever it is you set it up! I really want my girls to make some friends and I want to meet you!
Well, I am sorry for your hard winters so far. Here is SC we have had one terrible ice storm and now it has been pretty much about 60 to 70 for a couple of weeks. Kinda freeky!
The SouthBeach diet, I haven't looked into that one. I did Atkins a couple of years ago with great sucess for about 11 weeks (lost 27 pounds). I just can't maintain the atkins and my doc says I need to watch the fat intake. I too had too many cookies and great yummie things during the holidays. It's like I can't stop eating once I start the bad habbits again.
I will be making an inspection of the Magic the end of March. Does anyone need me to take a pic of a particular area of the ship? I think I will be able to take pics. I don't know since this is my first inspection. I want lots of pics for my scrapbook for Disney guests.
How fun is this? :hyper:
Shellie
Oh one more thing - I am still at a guaranteed catagory 5. Should I select a stateroom? Funny that I'm a Disney TA and I don't know what to do!

Hey folks, I just wanted to drop in and say hello. It was pouring down rain here in GA yesterday and the temps dropped to the low 30s overnight. I know that for your northerners that isn't cold, and I really don't consider it that cold either. But, all these fronts moving through are killing DW and mine's sinuses!
I was dreaming this morning of sitting on our verandah in the early morning on a day at sea while DW was still asleep and just listening to the waves and the wake of the ship. I could really use some beach time right now! :cool2:

Boy, our thread has really taken off. It wasn't that many days ago that I posted yet I had over 3 pages to read!
Welcome to everyone who is now sailing on 11/25/06! It seems we should have quite the group!
Shellie- Here on the DIS, there is a board called WISH. It stands for We're Inspired to Stay Healthy. Take a look over there for ideas about a healthy eating plan. I'm on WW's and I love it.
To all the Pa gal's - King of Prussia Mall would work for me. Its only 45 minutes via the turnpike. That is usually where I shop as it take 30-45 minutes to get to a mall around here with traffic on the weekends. My daughter and I love the Cheesecake Factory there!! Count me in!
Sure wish the cruise was this weekend. I'd be in Florida now getting ready to have dinner at Boma's and ready to hit the MK tomorrow. AHHH!

Howdy,
Well normally I would brag about our great sunny florida weather when I read your posts about bad weather, however we are suppose to be down to freezing tonight!!! For central Florida that is COLD!!!!!
We do have lots of sunshine, it's just not as warm as it should be.
We are off this weekend to spend the weekend at The Wilderness Lodge at WDW for a late anniversary weekend, so it better warm up, because I want to be out late to watch the fireworks. That will get me to thinking about the fireworks they have on the ship after the Pirate Party.
How are all of you doing for your pirate outfits??? I hope I'm not the only one who will be dressing up that night. I'd love to hear about your costumes.
Anyone else doing door signs??? I will probably have 3 again. Just too many great ideas out there to settle for one sign.
Hope everyone has a great weekend,

Hi Kathy,
We will definately be wearing Pirates costumes. I hope there are plenty who will be so DH doesn't feel funny, lol! I think he'd be PO'd at me if there were only a couple of people dressed. He may rent a costume from this local shop here. He had a guy who one first place at a Halloween costume with a Jack Sparrow costume. We'll have to go take a look. I am DEFINATELY dressing up, but I haven't started yet. I'm thinking about a skirt with a white top, lots of fun jewelry, a colorful scarf belt and maybe a matching one for around my head. Not 100% sure yet. I do need to start working on that. By the time we go on our cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 will be out. I bet that will be one of the movies playing on the ship. Of course I'm sure our family will have watched it at least twice in the movies like we did the first one!
I plan on doing door signs once I find enough time to figure out how to make them. :confused3 I'm sure it's easy once I take the time to see how other's did them.
The weather here is not too bad today. It goes from being in the 60's to freezing this past weekend. It rained all night Tuesday into yesterday early afternoon. I'm glad the sun is shining today.

Pirate Night -we are dressing up this time. DH and DS wore P.O.C shirts last time- Ds also had hat, bandanna, etc. DD wore a black skirt with a white off the shoulder blouse and lots of jewelry, I wore a red and white striped shirt with black pants. BUT we are going to be more adventurous this time. I gave DH choice of capt hook or jack sparrow, ds wants to be jack sparrow , too. My tip for everyone who doesn't have their stuff yet- if you are thinking aobut waiting till after halloween, it's hard to find pirate stuff in stores, even at full price. I started looking the second week in Nov and the party stores near my house had already put that stuff away.
Movies on ship- we are wondering if they will show the Santa Clause 3 (due out 11/3). It would be kind of neat to see a Christmas themed movie at CHristmas!!! (it is a disney production)

Hi everyone,
I agree, dont expect to find stuff after halloween. I thought i would do that last October and there was nothing to be found accept eye patches.
Sometimes if you dont mind used items a person can go to a thrift store and get cheap halloween stuff around the end of august through halloween.
I kept watching for the close out racks at all the clothing stores. i found a long sleeve off white blouse with a round neckline. Then frayed the ends of the sleeves and a brown long vest that has uneven hem too. I bought a light beige skirt for $5 at kmart that has many layers of sheer fabric and it was uneven edges and hems too. I had to make it smaller because they only had it in a very large size, but it worked really good. Then I had a piece of dark brown material to tie around my waist with a plastic skull and crossbones on the front. I had a black bandana too. Then I found a $40 pair of brown suede boots that were $17 on closeout. They come to the middle of the calf with leather straps around them with metal buckles. To Top it off I bought a necklace at WDW that is the medallion from Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
I got the idea for this from looking at costumes on line. It took about 6 months to find everything, but when all was said and done I only spent around $45. Not too bad considering the necklace was $10 and the boots $17. This time DH says he will dress up too if I get him something to wear. He saw so many people, including grown men dressed that he decided it was ok to do it now. So this year i will watch for sales for him.
I'm happy to hear all of you are thinking about dressing up too! It is so much more fun when lots of people do this. On the Magic w ehad lots of people dressingup, but for some reason on the Wonder they didnt seem to do much accept for the kids.
I'm glad we are going on the magic.
Everyone have a great weekend!! I know we will because we are headed for WDW.

I am going to try and talk DW into dressing up for Pirate Night. I think she will go for it as she always dresses up for Halloween at work. Now, to find the right costume for the both of us. DW is a sewing whiz, so she will probably want to make our costumes (no arguments from me).
I hope everyone has a great weekend. It is going to be rainy here in Georgia this weekend, so I won't be able to get in any of the motorcycle time :moped: I so desired, but oh well.

We didn't wear costumes for pirate night, but we did wear matching pirate themed t-shirts...kind of like a Pirates of the Caribbean movie shirt. That is about as much as I can probably get my family to dress up. I had some eyepatches, some pirate hats and a pirate sword too. Our DS3 really liked it!
We had door signs on the last 11/26 cruise, and it really helped us (especially the kids) find our stateroom much easier, so we will definitely do them again. My problem was that I waited too last minute to do them, and didn't get to customize them as much as I wanted. :goodvibes
Have a great time at WDW Kathy!

I was also thinking & hoping that with POC2 coming out in July that they would keep it around! Keeping my fingers crossed they do. It's such a fun theme! Plus it seems like they just started doing the POC Dive in movies at the pool on the big screen.
I am starting to find the prospect of needing to pack so many different types of clothing a bit overwhelming, lol! We are used to spending 2 weeks at a time at WDW and this year we went in the summer. Nothing but shorts, t-shirts and swimsuits. I'm even thinking about NOT working out on the ship as originally anticipated because that would be another set of clothes to bring, and then I'd have to constantly keep them washed so I wouldn't have smelly workout clothes in the cabin. Not good.
Would love any tips on keeping the amount of clothes and suitcases to a minimum.

You are a trooper if you were able to spend 15 days at WDW.
Packing list for me includes, Dresses and Shoes (I don’t ware the same dress twice) and about 3 bathing suits. I did bring different shorts to match different t-shirts. I ended up living in my bathing suits and sarongs with a t-shirt over the top. (No one is going to say, hey didn’t you wear that yesterday.) I wore my jeans and a t-shirt on the plane and brought an extra shirt or two for evenings (most of the time I put my bathing suit and sarong back on). I am an AVID over packer. I brought all these med’s (allergy sufferer) and didn’t have to take a single thing (other than motion sickness for one evening). Remember they have a shop that has mediciations in it, if you really must have something. Also remember a jacket or a sweater. It get dang cold in the evenings.
If you need and love to plan here is a web cite with a bunch of different packing lists. http://cruiseclues.com/packinglist.htm If you would like copy of my list, let me know by PM and I will send it. (Its always a work in progress)

I know it sounds terrible, but we saved a load of money by renting a car from Budget. ($35.00 x2 for rental vs. $58.00 x3 for Disney Transportation) I don’t know how many is in your party (we had 3). We were able to get everything in a midsized car and I really overpacked. We drove to the Coco Beach Budget, they loaded our bags in their van and we were off to the ship. We tipped the driver a dollar per bag. In total to and from the airport I think it cost us around $80.
I’m glad to see we are back on the 1 page of boards.

We are going with my parents so that is why there is so many. For the time being I have Fl Tours picking us up at SS at 9:30 the Saturday morning of the cruise and then they are picking us up at Port at 9:15. Now all I have to do is arrange transportation from MCO to SS and then from SS to MCO. The earliest flight we could get was Sunday morning.

TiggerKing - Mission Viejo is about 30 miles from where I live. Since your brother lives close to Disneyland, does he go often or does he not have the Disney gene. My family thinks I'm nuts because the kids and I go to Disneyland once a week and WDW twice a year.
MelanieC & favoriteslave - It great to see you both have sons around my sons age. My DD is very social and can make friends in a heartbeat with anyone. My DS loves to make new friends, but unless I introduce him he has a hard time. So hopefully there will be some mini-meets so all the kids can meet.

Boy, back on pg 2 again - well we'll have to see about that! ;)
Hope everyone is well. Welcome to Katie
Well, yesterday was election day in Canada and we now have a new Prime Minister. He is more conservative than our previous PM so we'll have to see what comes of that. Some people think he may be able to improve relations with the US - we'll see what that means. He is also a fan of the 'traditional family' which kinda flys in the face of the 'same sex marriage' laws that have been passed lately, so again we'll see. Apparently also anti-abortion. This has been a right for as long as I can remember, so will be interesting to see if it even comes up. Anyway - as you can probably tell I am fairly apathetic and will basically take a wait and see attitude. IMHO it really doesn't matter who is in charge - they'll all drown in bureacratic red tape anyway.
Well, on to something I care about - THE CRUISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO looking forward to this. I have been prepping DH on the formal/semi and pirate nights so he has LOTS of advanced notice as to what I will be forcing him and DS to wear (lol). It is really important to me to get some really nice family pics as we have zero at home. I am also hoping to drop a few pounds by November so I feel happy with how I look. We are going to WDW Feb 8th for 7 nights at WL and I am really looking forward to that too. We're also going to check out Gatorland - DS will be turning 4 while we are there and I think he will really get a kick out of the gators - not many of those around up here :teeth:
Anyway - nothing earth-shattering to report, so will sign off. Take care everyone - talk to you soon.

First of all, I have to say a special hello to mamakate (katie) I remember you being so nice and helping me out with some Fantasmic dessert buffet questions awhile back on the Disneyland forum. Now I will get to meet you! Cool! I am glad you are cruising with us. :goodvibes
Dutchsmommy, I will have a DS that will be 4 too, so they will probably be in the clubs together. Our DS LOVED the kids clubs! It is one of the reasons why we are cruising again. DH was very impressed!
I really got on because I noticed on my signature ticker, that we are 1 day shy of being out of the 10 month range and into the 9 month range!!! WOW! :earseek: I agree, I need to lose some extra pounds in time too, so I better get my backside a movin...before we know it will be here!

I REALLY need a beach fix! I am even looking at possibly doing a 3 day Wonder in March for DW's birthday just to get to hit a couple of beaches!
Out of curiosity, I checked with the TA yesterday to see if there were any deals on our cruise. My cat 7 room has jumped $7000 in price since mid-December! :earseek:
Have any of you folks ever taken a "last minute" DCL cruise, and were you able to get any decent rates?

Hello fellow cruisers!
Hope everyone had a great week. The kids and I are going to Disneyland tonight so my son can go to the "Pin Trading Nights". Do any of you do the Disney pin trading thing? My son is really addicted and has over 1,000 pins.
Do they do pin trading on the cruise??
I also wanted to post a thread I have on the Disneyland forum of a Magical Moment my DD had at Disneyland:

Katie, yes they do have pin trading on the ship. They have several pins that you can only buy on the ships, not at DL or WDW. I get a new one each time we take a cruise. I dont collect like your son, but I have about 30 I guess.
I can't believe we are at the ten month mark!!!

What a nice story about Marie! I guess I'm showing my age when I say I loved watching Donny and Marie during my high school years. "I'm a little bit country, I'm a little bit rock and roll." Now that I think about it, it was so corny to have the ice skaters open up their show every week. But, it was fun TV!
Anyone watch the Lost at Sea Primetime special last night? Sure glad I'm staying on Deck 2!
Happy Weekend!

Katie - cool story. My only 'osmond connection' was going to see Donny playing Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (I'm a huge Andrew Lloyd Webber fan). I was prepared to not enjoy it - I figured how good could he be - was expecting cheese - WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! He was totally amazing, the show was amazing and it is my second favorite behind Jesus Christ Superstar with Ted Neely (Jesus from the movie of JCSS) and Judas from the movie (can't think of his name right now).
Michelle - I would LOVE it if your DS and mine were 'pals' for the trip. It would be great if DS loved the Club. We went right around this time last year and he just turned 3 the day we cruised. He enjoyed himself, but I think was a bit young to fully get into it - plus he was 'just' potty-trained so I was really worried he would have an accident etc. Does your son like Dinsoaurs? DS is a HUGE dino-head.
It was a lovely day here in Toronto today - +10 degrees!!!!!!!!! Not sure what that converts to for you USers but it is WAY warm for this time of year. We spent the whole morning outside cleaning up the gardens, taking down the Christmas lights etc. I had my riding lesson this afternoon (horseback riding) and it was so nice to not be freezing my behind off in the arena. Tommorrow is supposed to be rainy and back down to +4 but that is still warm for us at this time of year. There is no snow left around our place. We have only had about 2 real good snowfalls this year. It was nice around Christmas as there was plenty of snow but now that we are approaching the end of January I am fine with the weather just the way it is!! I am excited about our WDW trip in less than 2 weeks. We're going to Gatorland and then to Chef Mickey's for dinner for DS's b'day (4 yo). I think he will have a blast - I know I will! Hopefully we get nice weather, but either way it will be warmer than here.
Hope everyone is well - Kathy hope you are feeling better. Talk to you all soon.

I know it is still early yet, but I was just curious where everyone would be the night before the cruise. Will you be in Cape Canaveral, Orlando, WDW or elsewhere. DW and I still have not made up our minds yet. I may burn some Marriott points to stay in Orlando, but I would not mind spending the day before in Daytona either. Then again, we may just do the port. Am I scatterbrained today or what?
I hope everyone has been having a great weekend. We had a little rain overnight, but it is up to almost 70 degrees here this afternoon. (BTW DutchsMommy, 10 celsius translates to 50 degrees fahrenheit....Man I can't believe I still remember that formula from school).

WOW I have missed afew days and feel like I was so far behind. We had to leave our house for a few days so the contractors could start. We had some flooding after Katrina and have been living with the bear neccassities. So its nice now (only 5 months later) that we can finally get started getting our house back together.

Hi everyone,
There sure is a lot of activity on this thread now. We are driving down on Tuesday and will stay overnight Tuesday somewhere on I-95 around SC or GA. Then we will finish out the drive Wednesday morning. We will be staying two nights at WDW and plan to do MK on Thanksgiving day. Friday we will drive to Port Canaveral after sleeping in that morning. We have ressie's at the Radisson. Less than 10 months now! YEAH!

We arent sure where we will stay the night before the cruise.
We have done the Radisson and it worked out great. But, last time we stayed at Gaylord Palms the night before and went to the ICE exhibit and the kids LOVED the ice slides and displays. We wont decide until the date gets a little closer.
However, I know my dd will want to stay where her friends (Michelle2) will be at the Radisson the night before, so we will see.
We dont plan on doing a whole lot of formal excursions this cruise. Our kids were really happy with just casual beach days last time.
Going to go back and try to read the thread for everything I missed.

I hope that everyone has a good weekend! It has been a stressful week for us here. DW started having chest pains on Tuesday morning, and since her mom had her first heart attack when she was 2 years younger than DW, we headed to the hospital! Fortunately, we found out after two days of tests that it was not heart related. :thumbsup2 Now, we have to find out what was the cause of it.
So, we are going to spend the weekend trying to relax, and also trying to give away 9 puppies!

Tiggerking,
I'm happy to hear DW was having heart problems. I'm sure they will find the cause soon and be able to fix her up good as new!!!
Good luck with 9 puppies, that is a handful for sure!
It is cloudy and a good chance of showers in central Florida today.
I guess that is still better than all the ice, snow and cold a lot of you have in the winter. Although I do love snow and I miss watching it snow since we moved to Florida. It does snow at WDW each Christmas at MGM studios, but it's not quite the same as the real thing.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Good morning everyone! Tiggerking - hope all is well!
I'm starting to get ready for our trip to WDW on Wednesday. The hotel room in Buffalo is booked (we drive from Toronto to Buffalo because the flights are SO much cheaper), WL at WDW is book, FLTours is booked, we have our MYW tickets and our Gatorland tickets. We're going grocery shopping today for some brekkie stuff to bring - we'll do a grocery stop in FL for milk etc, but I want to bring some stuff from home too. I'm making my way through mounds of laundry so everyone will have clean clothes. I personally am just hoping my capris fit!! LOL. The long-range forecast looks good for us in FL, although there is a winter storm warning up here - at least it is for today so by Tuesday all the roads and stuff should be clear for our drive to Buffalo - that is my biggest worry - a blizzard when we are supposed to fly down. So, I'm really looking forward to our trip to the world, and once it is over I will at least have the cruise to look forward to - woohoo!!

Hope you have a great trip. It is pouing rain the past 24 hours in central florida. It is suppose to be drier next week but some days are a little cooler than normal. So be sure and bring jackets for everyone!!! You'll need then in the mornings and evenings for sure. The good news is that the parks have not been very busy because of the cooler weather, so you shouldnt have a lot of long lines.
Give us a trip report when you return so we all can share in the fun. It will help us get by until the cruise gets here.

I don't know if anyone looked at the posts about the NASA launch schedule, but as of right now, there is an unmanned rocket launch and a shuttle launch both scheduled for our CC day. If they go off as scheduled, we should be able to see them while we are on the island. We saw an unmanned rocket launch about a year and a half ago. We got on the Magic around noon, went straight up to deck 10 and about 15 mintues later it blasted off. It was really neat to see, and we got it on our video tape too. There were a lot of people on deck to see it.
Usually we can see all the launches from our back yard, but it was a lot different being that close. We will be sure to keep up on the launch while on board.

Hi Jamie,
Are you ready for the SNOW!!! I still would like to have a PA get together before we go.
As for the air we are driving down. The last time I took SW airlines to Orlando it was about 150. I'd probably figure somewhere between 150-200, although with higher fuel costs maybe it could be higher.
I am waiting for Southwest to open the flights up for the summer months. Right now it only goes till June 9th. I need to get my tickets to Alabama & Tennessee for the 4th of July weekend and to Las Vegas over Labor Day. I wish they would hurry all ready. I'm ready to finalize my plans NOW!

Hi everyone,
We woke up to a lot of snow out there this morning. I took some pictures and I'll try to see if I could upload a few later this afternoon. I hope everyone in the NE doesn't have too hard a time digging out today.
Wendy,
I feel your pain, lol! My DD will be 14 in 3 weeks. In 2 weeks she is having her first "party" with boys and girls at the house. It's funny to see her be so mature and grown up. Luckily she doesn't go out as much as some of the other kids in her class. We raised our kids doing lots of family things including "family nights" where we watch movies and have pizza. Fortunately she loves spending time with us. I do however see a slow shift in her spending more Friday nights at the movies and bowling. It's sad to see that phase of our family life ending. But I'm glad that she is a great kid who is learning about herself.

Melanie,
I would love to see your snow pictures. Living in Florida we never get to see it anymore. It is so beautiful to see. Of course if I had to drive in it, I would probably feel differently.
We are very cold and rainy here in Florida today. It was around 40 this morning.
I feel for both you ladies watching your family grow up. It goes way too fast. All 4 of ours are grown, two with their own families. Now we sit back and watch in amazement how quickly the grandkids are growing up!!! :goodvibes
It seems like only yesterday we were bringing our kids home from the hospital.
Enjoy and cherish every minute, you will miss it all later on, I guarantee it!!
Well I have been toying with ideas for door signs, but no definate decisions yet. It will help to see if we go to Cozumel. By then I would think it would be up and running, but we have another hurricane season to go before our trip so who knows what will happen there or some other island???
Those people could really use a break this hurricane season.
Guess we will just have to wait and see.
I hope everyone had a good weekend.
We are another week closer to our cruise!! :cheer2:

It is supposed to start warming up here in GA today. :sunny: They say we will be near 70 degrees tomorrow afternoon. And people wonder why we stay sick in the south during the winter. 28 degrees one day, 70 the next. Back in 1993 we had a blizzard (yes, they are rare in the south, but do occur) with 18 inches of snow. No one believed the weathermen because the day before the blizzard it was 80 degrees. What's the old saying..."If you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes and it will change."

We actually were just a little too far North to get any snow from this storm!!
My mother in law, who lives just 2 hours south got slammed with like 20 inches.... We got nothing. :rolleyes1

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day!
I don't have a valentine, but that's not bringing me down. My Ex called last night and asked if I wanted to go out for valentines with him :rotfl: !
Hope everyone on the east coast gets through all the snow O.K. Since I live in Southern California, snow is rare sight. My Ex lived in PA for a year and he used to send us pictures after it snowed and it looked beautiful, but he said it wasn't much fun living with it (He was born and raised in Southern California, so he wasn't used to it).
Have a great day!

Welcome everyone!!
We are planning on spending 2 days at the Port Orleans French Quarter prior to the cruise, but I don't think we are going to go to the parks.
We are flying in on Thanksgiving day, and from what I have read the parks are mobbed.
we are just going to relax, have our turkey dinner at maybe the Grand Floridian and do our christmas shopping at Downtown Disney. :cool2: :hourglass
Hey, Turkeyday 05 sailor here......we were there for Thanksgiving in 02 and 03 prior to our Eastern sailings.....02 was cancelled. And the parks weren't bad at all on Thursday.....Friday we hung by the pools getting a "base tan" for that ship!!!!

funny story about the bed, DS9 was all excited- it was going to be his!!!
:rotfl2: )
Good to see I'm not forgotten! :smooth:

On our first cruise in 2004, I am walking down the hallway and hear someone behind us yell "Bob!". Now, DW already accuses me of know someone everywhere we go, so she is thinking "Who now?". Well, I turn around and it is another DISer who knew my cabin number, saw it on my life vest, and called out my name. :rotfl2: We all started laughing!
I don't know if anyone looked at the posts about the NASA launch schedule, but as of right now, there is an unmanned rocket launch and a shuttle launch both scheduled for our CC day. If they go off as scheduled, we should be able to see them while we are on the island. If the shuttle takes a delay, as it typically does, and delays until Saturday, we will be at the port for the launch. That would be totally awesome to cap the cruise off with a shuttle launch! :woohoo:
On our 2000 sailing there was a NASA launch....and we were at CC and were able to see it.......

Wendy, we did Discovery Cove in August and LOVED it. If it is an option, I would recommend the Trainer For a Day program. We were treated like VIPs, never foungt any crowds or waited in any lines (although I think that is true even if you are a 'regular' guest), and we got an extra dolphin swim att he end of the day. We also did alt of 'behnd the scenes' things. My kids were 8 and 10 when we went. The only thing they would not do was the salt water pool, which had a million tropical fish in it. I was really surprised my daughter would not go in....
We were also surprised at how much we liked the aviary. I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did, since I was really there for the dolphins and fish.

Hello everyone - we are back from Mickey Mouse's House :worried:
We had a great time - although as Kathy has mentioned, it was COLD. I am glad we kept our jackets with us. It was quite quiet in the parks as a result of the weather and we were able to see everything we wanted to. We even went to the EMH night at MK on Saturday (I think it was Saturday) and rode Splash Mountain about 6 times (in the rain and about 40 degree temps!) but DS was loving it so - what the heck! We did Gatorland which was OK - would do it once but wouldn't go back. The taxi out there was quite expensive, but it was my fault as I had gotten a quote from Celebration cabs but needed to call the day before to arrange and didn't (due to the EMH mentioned above LOL) so we paid a fairly hefty taxi bill - oh well, it was still fun. We had a great time at Fantasmic (first time we have seen it as it just hasn't worked out for us before), Le Cellier was great as usual and DS fell asleep on the bench seat so DH and I had a very nice quiet dinner. DS also went to the Cub's Den for a few hours on Valentine's night which we all enjoyed ;) We ate at the Rainforest Cafe outside AK which was also great. DS loved Rafiki's Planet Watch at AK - which we had never bothered with before, so that was a nice experience. The only bummer of the trip was they had Exped. Everest open at AK and we got FPs but by the time we returned for our FP window the ride was closed - I thought they should have kept it open at least until the FP window was over - oh well, next time. Oh and one last GREAT thing - I FINALLY BEAT DH AT BUZZ LIGHTYEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2: Yes folks, you are talking to a Space Ace :thumbsup2
Anyway, we're back now and it's freezing rain out :crazy2: but I can now put my full attention on our upcoming Cruise!!! :Pinkbounc
Hope all is well with everyone.

Happy Monday!
I hope that everyone had a great weekend. DW and I were actually able to relax a little bit now that the puppies are gone (last one given away on Friday evening). The neighbor's DD5 though wasn't so happy. They told us on church Sunday that she went in and cried because all of the puppies were gone! :( However, our other femal is pregnant and appears to be going into labor today. DW stayed at home with her, so I will probably be getting a call in the near future about number 1. Then the process starts all over again!
As for DW, she is doing great. It appears as if the medication is working, and there really have been no additional flare ups!
Have a great week everyone! Another day closer to a wonderful cruise! :cool2:

Hi there! We are also booked on this cruise. We booked back in September, on the repo cruise, hoping to switch to the rumored new itineraries for the summer of '07. Our choice would be the return repositioning across the Atlantic. Judging from the prices for the early part of that year, we don't know if that will be in our price range. The booking agent onboard wanted us to book the last cruise of '06, but that was a western, and I really wanted to do an eastern. So I booked the week we love to go to WDW, which is this cruise! Either way the kids will miss a week of school.
We are a family of four, me, DH, DD14 and DD11 at the time of sailing. We are late dining, cabin 6568.
Michelle2, I am a third generation Boisean :goodvibes. We acquired Boise's football coach here recently and I got a little cranky when all the news folks talked about "Boyzie". Grr. They need to learn how to say it right.
I also would love to see pics of Disneyland Tokyo.

Hey Val! Welcome aboard!
DW and I have talked about doing one of the repositioning cruises in 2007, probably the return trip. It will depend on cost, most definitely, and the total amount of vacation I will need to take off. I am also weighing it against the fact that I want to take a two week vacation to Europe. I spent 6 weeks in 4 countries last year for work, and I would love to take DW back and show her some of the areas that I was able to visit. So, I am really torn about what to do!
I hope everyone is having a great week.

Welcome Lampy & Val. It seems like we are going to have a huge group on the ship this year!
I'm glad there will be several 14 year old girls on board the ship. I really want her to have a good time! They are at that age where they can easily get BORED if they don't have kids their own age to hang out with. My DS9 I'm not worried about.
In fact DD turns 14 on 3/5 and her party is tomorrow night. Wish me luck tomorrow night. Her friends made the invitations and brought them to school and didn't bother telling me until they were made that they invited 33 kids. It's her first boy/girl party and its in my house. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle this party lol! DH and my DS are going to the movies so it will just be me. Hopefully I can handle it!
I got invisalign braces on today so I'll officially be wearing them on the cruise. It really made me think that I'll really have to plan my meals while onboard. No just popping food in my mouth without thinking about it first. The great thing is you really can't see them except when your really close.

Jan,
At least your grandkids are young, our oldest grandaughter is 14 1/2!!!
We have 4 of them down to age 4. We always tease Ana and tell her that we dont introduce her as our grandaughter because she gives away our age. Ha! Ha! As if looking at us wouldnt give it away anyway. We only claim the 4 and 6 year olds. :rotfl:
But as my huband will tell you I am a bigger kid now than when I was young!

my house is filled with disney stuffed characters who I dress up for each holiday that comes along. They have taken over the dining room table for Luau's, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. They use DCL glasses too!! :thumbsup2
In our bedroom I have toy story characters on my cedar chest with a sign that says "Welcome to kathy's room".
I own most of Disneys' animated movies and lots of other animated shows, i just love to laugh at them. :rotfl2:
I have big figurines Disney characters around my living room and my kitchen counters are covered with Disney cookie jars and canister sets. 2/3rds of my clothes have Disney characters on them. My car has a disney license plate and a disney steering wheel cover too.
Guess i really am just a big kid, and the older I get the easier it is to get away with doing all these silly things. I love it.

Our friends who are cruising with us, Bob and Gitta, are so excited about this cruise. Bob bought snorkeling equipment and is walking around the house wearing his fins.
By the way, my first husband always told me to grow up! Glad I never listened to him!
Enjoy the weekend. 9 months from today, we'll be in SSR.

I was Captain Jenny Roberts
I felt lost, we have not been home for the last three days while the contractors were doing our floors and kitchen so I have been computerless and it has not been pretty. But alas the work is finally ( a mere 6 months post Katrina) getting done, right in time for our next hurricane season.
My DH ans his brother left to go skiing this morning he did the ritual escape out of Mardi Gras and hit the slopes. My DS and I usually go to Disney at this time but they missed so much school for Katrina that we are only off Monday and Tuesday not the entire week as before.
Welcome to the group Lampy family, I have also seen your posts and it looks like we are in for a great trip

Hi Dense,
Sorry to hear some are not getting to come , maybe they will get to go another time. We have had that happen to us before too.
I'm sure you'll still all have a magical cruise!!!
We spent our entire weekend painting the inside of our new house, the good thing was that we took along a radio and we heard lots of songs that we have heard on the cruise!! That got us excited for the cruise.
I cant wait.
Have a great week everyone.

Hi everyone,
I made it through the party on Friday night!! I also made it through an entire day at the King of Prussia Mall (those in PA know how huge it is) with 3 girls and waiting over 2 hours to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. I'm glad to be going back to work tomorrow, lol!
Denise,
Sorry to hear that some of your party backed out.

How about the 'Turkey Induced Coma' gang? Then we could be the TICs. OK, maybe not. 'Overfed and Underappreciated'? 'The One's that Got Away' - w are the turkeys that didn;t meet their demise on Thanksgiving? OK, OK, these are pretty poor.....anyone else have any ideas?
I guess the flights down to FL that weekend we sail will be pretty full. I wonder if the prices will be higher? Maybe we'll fly out of Toronto this time around - we usually fly out of BUF so it's cheaper - but if it is full fare maybe I can scrounge enough airmiles to justify flying out of Toronto. It would be closer to our house for sure!

Just a FYI.....We were booked on the 02 cancelled Eastern (our week)and sailed on that exact week in 03.....I found that if you fly Saturday air WAS expensive....but, get a price out of BUF on Thursday...almost NOBODY flies on Thanksgiving and return on the Saturday or ship docs!! There was 4 of us and airfare was about 125.00 per person LESS to fly Thursday than Saturday. 125x4=500.....I booked the Swan for 79 bucks a night (x2=158.00) The girls did MGM on Friday and we did Downtown on Thursday. We did the same thing in 03 except we stayed at POR and for the same $$$$ or less we had 2 extra days of vacation........

Wendy,
I'm glad you had a good time!!! I think it was really important for the people there to get back to normal as much as they can and Mardi Gras is one way to do it. I'm sure next year will be even better.
We are beautiful clear blue skies and in the mid to upper 70's in central Florida today. But I will stay in and pack, pack and more packing to move!!!
We will be glad when it is done, then we can concentrate on the cruise more.
Have a great day everyone,

Mid to upper 70s...ah, that sounds glorious! :sunny: Be sure to take a few moments to catch a few rays for us Yanks.
I just spend some time researching flights for the way down. We would only save $90 by going out on Thanksgiving night vs. Friday a.m. So, considering we'd have to pay for an extra night hotel and leave family dinners early, I think we're going to stick with our Friday departure. I just got excited when I visited AirTran's site and saw November was added to their dates. But, no flights are showing up...yet. I'll keep checking. We were able to scrounge enough of those Wendy's cups for free flights home so it would be sweet to score $49 tix down.
By the way, go to www.southwest.com and sign up for their sweepstakes for a trip for 8 to Disney. Maybe one of us will be lucky and stay in Orlando for an extended free vacation!

The weather in Atlanta, GA is beautiful and sunny today. :sunny: We are supposed to be up into the low 70s. I was moving "stuff" from the garage to the basement last night and the weather was just perfect. DW gave me a hammock for my birthday in November (she saw how much I loved the ones on CC), and I think it is FINALLY going to be coming out of the box for my enjoyment! She was really thoughtful! Sorry about all you northerners weather. Hopefully it will improve soon!
So, is anyone looking at booking 2007 since the end of year dates are open? I was playing on the DCL web site a few minutes ago and saw that most of the SPH cabins and the secret cat 6 cabins are still available for the same cruise next year. :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone,
I think we are going to cancel this cruise. DD is starting High School this year and someone from the High School came in and talked to them about credits to graduate, retaking entire classes if you miss too many days etc. She also decided she wants to take two honor classes next year. She is really nervous about taking off an entire week next year during the school year. Its amazing how much she is growing up to see her worry about school! She wanted to switch the vacation to the summer. The summer prices for the cruise are way to high, so we decided as a family to go back to Disney this summer.
I'm very sad over the decision, but know its the right one since she is worried about this. I've canceled my Port Canaveral hotel reservations, but still have to cancel my Disney & Cruise ones. I feel so sad and its hard to make myself do it. The good thing is that we get two full weeks this summer in Disney like last year. We had the best vacation w ever had last year so I know this summer will be no exception. Plus its only 5 months away. I spent last night planning which dates at which parks and actually got all our ADR Reservations done!!
The strange thing is, the last time we booked a cruise we canceled in February as well because my DS (4 at the time) wanted to go to Disney instead. He ended up saving our vacation because the 11/25 cruise that year was canceled due to the Norwalk Virus. He saved our vaction that year. We didn't find out till we were in WDW that the cruise for that weekend was canceled. We would have ended up in Florida on Thanksgiving with no place to stay and no cruise.
I'll still check with you all from time to time. I'll be super jealous in November when you are all leaving. I hope I can handle it! At least I'll have 2 fun weeks this summer.

Oh, Melanie, I hope you did not just jinx us! Too bad you are not going, but everything does happen for a reason!
FYI for those booking airfare -
I got a Delta Song flight out of Boston on 11/24 (my birthday...) with a return of 12/4 (we are staying to see the Christmas parade) for $177 each, which is not too bad. We thought we would have to fly out on Thanksgiving to get a good rate, but $177 was good enough for me!

Lampy -- I'm not getting good airfares out of Detroit yet. Getting high $200/low $300 range. I'll wait a few more months and watch for sales. We are flying out of Detroit on Friday, 11/24 and returning on 12/2.

Wadda ya mean 'anyone have cold'!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
We've been in the freezer since about the 2nd week of Feb. Earlier in the winter it was managable but lately it's been minus 20 in the mornings! Man, that's bitter. We're supposed to warm up to plus 10 by the weekend though, which is great! Generally we're around the freezing mark to about minus 5 at this time of year. I'm definately looking forward to the spring though! The nice thing is it's staying light out later now and is lighter in the mornings. In the dead of winter going into work in the dark and coming home in the dark gets real old real fast! Oh well...another excuse to look forward to our trip. :teeth:

It's not TOO bad here...not compared with what Dutch's Mommy has goin' on. We're in the 40s during the day but I'm very excited because they're calling for us to see 70 again by Saturday. Ah...bring out the flip flops! I might have to get those drink cups and blender out and pretend I'm onboard.
We're also doing some painting here. We have an old Victorian style house (1894) and I just finished stripping some ug-leee wall paper off DD's room. A nice lavender that will match Tink and Hello Kitty is the color. Next, on to the dining room. The work never ends with an old lady like this one. I think I got some dust in my eye under my contact and scratched my cornea so I'm very uncomfortable in bright light which is why I'm holed up in the computer room so I don't go insane.
Denise - glad the rest of your group is back on the boat. They are also back on "The List."

WELCOME BACK!!! Hope you had a great trip!!
For the days you were at Disney, did you stay at one of the onsite hotels? If not, where did you stay and did you find transportation easy. We wanted to stay on-site, but we also wanted to see the city and Mt. Fuji and none of the tour groups I could find pick-up from Disney hotels. So I'm looking for a family friendly hotel in the city near one of the stations. Then we'll probably switch to a Disney hotel for the end of the trip.
How was the weather this time of year?? Was the language barrier an issue?? Did your kids enjoy themselves??
My son is really into the Japanese culture and Japanese anime right now and has been dreaming of going to Japan, but the soonest we can go is 2008 (unless I win the lottery) because of the exchange rate. Did you find it expensive while you were there??
Sorry for all the questions and I really look forward to your trip report. DisneySea looks like a fantastic themepark!!

Wasn't online all weekend as the weather was just GLORIOUS! Did some early spring yardwork (or late fall, however you choose to look at it), played at the park with the kids and am now paying for it. I think I'm still 19 but my sore achin' body doesn't agree!
Anyone start thinking of excursions yet? We're definitely a do-it-on-our-own family and are thinking of renting a car in St. Maarten or St. John. Anyone know the price?
Also...have any Eastern vets done the Duck Tour? We have a 10 and 8 yr. old who would probably enjoy that. We've seen them in Boston and Baltimore and they look fun but don't know what you'd see on St. Maarten.
DisneyDiva...good luck with that stomach bug thing. That's a nasty one. Not fun!

Jamie - I'm leaning toward 'do it yourself' as well. we want to do the submarine thing (can't remember which port this is offered in) and the Duck. Have never been on a 'duck' before but looks fun. DS will be just shy of 4 so we are limited from alot of Disney excursions. Anyway - I'll share any interesting excursions on our board as they come up.

For St. Maarten we're planning on doing a beach day at Great Bay. We're going to take the water taxi and rent a couple of chairs. Then in the afternoon we'll probably do some shopping.
At St.John/St.Thomas, we're planning on doing the Doubloon Pirate Ship excursion. This looks like a fun one for kids and adults. Has anyone done this before??
It's been freezing here in Southern Cali. It's been around 50 degrees in the afternoon and 30 degrees at night. I could never survive in the Northeast :cold:
I went to the Disney Shareholders meeting on Friday and got to meet Bob Iger and Roy Disney. John Lassiter (sp?) from Pixar, who will be heading the Imagineering department, is very enthusiastic about his new job and it sounds like the themeparks will get some new rides designed by him. Also if anyone has been wondering if "Song of the South" was ever going to be released in the US, It's not. Iger said it's still a very sensitive subject to a lot of people and Disney doesn't want to chance it. I have a copy if anyone wants to see it ;) . My dad got a laser disk from Japan and made us a VHS copy.
Hope everyone has a great week!!

I've been checking out the activities available in St Martin and St Thomas online and think that the following sound interesting for our family (DS won't be 5 so we are a bit limited)
St Martin:
Loterie Farm tour - will likely do this on our own
Duck Bus??
St Thomas:
CorelWorld - again on our own
Atlantis Submarine (so expensive though!)
We are not big shoppers, and DH is a red-head so lying on the beach all day is not his cup of tea. We'd rather 'do something' while in Port for a few hours and then mosy back to the ship once done.

Greetings All,
Lampe, glad to hear (and see) that you'll be with us on the cruise. I know it's probably a BIG disappointment to Willie that you won't be on the Christmas Ham Cruise. We're happy to have you and as anyone who hasn't cruised w/ you yet will find out, there's never a dull moment w/ you on board.
Is this true???? THE Mr. Lampy is going on THIS cruise??
Ron, What are the chances that one of your room numbers will be a one digit reversal of our room number again? But truthfully, it really was accidental that I occasionally gave the reversed room number when charging my drinks....... Cruising 11/25 does mean that you have less time to get your legs in shape than if you cruised 12/16 - will you be ready?
It's great that you are going on this cruise. As far as I know, Trey and Tanya are the only others , besides us ,from Turkey Day '05 on this cruise. It would have been hard for us to be the lone representatives of the infamous Turkey Day cruise. Now we have the "wild turkey" cruising with us......

Has everyone made their "pre-cruise" plans? I convinced DH that since we saved all that money by cruising 11/25 instead of 11/18, we should definitely squeeze in a couple days at WDW. (we havent't been since August 04- Turkey day cruise was our 05 vacation). Besides, I don't want to be stuck traveling ( yes, we are drivinig) the Friday after Thanksgiving, and I don't want to spend Thanksgiving on the road (Thanksgiving dinner at Cracker Barrell would Definitley be a let down after after last year's meal on the Magic!!) So, we are leaving Tuesday when kids get out of school, stop in Jackonsville, then on to WDW for Wed and Thurs. (How we will do everything that I want to do in two days is still a a puzzle) Anyway, Friday morning we had to the Radisson by the port and spend the day relaxing by that neat pool they have. ANy other cruisers doing WDW before hand? Maybe we can have get a together. Ohterwise, maybe at radisson if anyone else is there Friday- Tanya, didn't you guys stay there last year? We got there late at night last year, but saw alot of green shirts (our DIs shirts) at the hotel Saturday AM.
By the way, anyone who finds that they need some cruise clothing and can't find what they need at home (it is hard in November) plan at stop at Ron JOn's surf shop in Cocoa Beach before cruise. They had a HUGE selection of swimsuits, sundresses, shorts, etc...... ANd they are open 24 hours!!!!!!

Cody's Mom-
We did stay at the Radisson last year. We have decided to stay there again this year. Our pre-cruise plans are arrive in Florida Friday afternoon. Go to Downtown Disney. Drive to Cocoa Beach (maybe go to RON JON, if I have any room in my suitcase). Get up the next morning, (LATE, as that will be only time to sleep in for a week) eat, swim, arrive at the boat around 1:ish, waltz into the ship, drop our carry-ons in our room at 1:30 and start the party. We are SO looking forward to this cruise, too bad its more than 250 days away.
T-SHIRTS - I have a friend working on designs for the shirts. Please give me some input as to what color we should choose.
Let do our best to keep this board on page one.
Morning all!
Pam has it right about Ron Jon's. They are kinda like the "Walmart" of beach wear/surf apparel - if they don't have it, you don't need it. They do have the touristy tshirts, but they also have a tasteful selection of "resort wear".
Hmmm, how to do everything YOU want in 2 days. . . BRIBERY!!!
Ron, we must start planning now how to acquire as many of those little gold medals as possible. Granted, "Ron Jovi" won't exactly be the same, but . . .
More likely than not, Tonya, Hunter & I will be staying @ the Radisson there in Port Canaveral the night prior to the cruise. We haven't decided yet whether or not we will partake of Downtown Disney after we fly in.
Anyone have a recommendation as to the color and/or design for the disboard tshirts? I know Tonya was trying to work this issue earlier.
Enjoy your day!

I was wondering when the Annual Mtg. would be held and we never got our proxy vote, annual report, or notice. I guess we slipped through our brokerage's cracks? Did your kids get to go? I think that would be a great learning experience for them. We keep some Disney shares just to show the kids how to look for the ticker symbol in the paper and on CNBC and to explain basic financials to them. It's never to early to learn about the stock market and big business.

Lime Green would be fine with me. I have a ton of things to match (its my favorite color). Anyone else?
I have to say that it was really cool to see all the lime green shirts in the DCL terminal and we were really easy to find during the sailaway party. Of course, the trail of Miller Lites for Lampie WAS a dead giveaway!

Drive to Cocoa Beach (maybe go to RON JON, if I have any room in my suitcase
Of course you will have room- that is if you learned what I did last time!!! I didn't need half the stuff I brought on the cruise!!!
DD left her bathing suit at school when she came home before our cruise. (night before we left!!) Figured we could stop at Walmart or something in Florida and get one. Got to Florida after driving all day from Virginia- stopped at two walmarts and all they had were a few mismatched pieces left. So she and I planned on going to Ronjon in the Am before going to the port. They I read that they were open 24 hours a day, and since it was only 11pm, why not go now and get it over with???? I could have bought everything I needed for the cruise right there!!!!! It was a good thing we went then instead of in the morning, because DH kept us focused on our mission ( getting her suit) and had she and I gone in the morning, we have still been there shopping when the ship pulled out!!!!
I remember you said you were working on shirts- any ideas for a design yet?
Is your DD still not able to go?

SO TRUE, SO TRUE
I too learned that I don't need to take the kitchen sink. Honestly, I don't think I will bring more than two or three bathing suits, sarongs (2), flip flops (1) , two shirts for night time activities, two or three t-shirts (past cruise shirts) and then our formal wear and shoes (minus about 2 pairs of shoes from last time). With the motion of the ocean, flip flops are the way to go for dinner. (plus we might need to get up and dance) Snorkeling stuff is already packed in a suitcase waiting to go. My Personal stuff will get carried on with me. I will have to resist the urge to throw some things in at the last minute. I'm sure that Trey will enjoying being the "Packing Mafia" and tell me I can only take one bag.
Remember last year they would take your luggage from the airport to the boat if you have your tags on the luggage? I wonder if that still holds true if you show up the day before the cruise starts. I will have to ask. I would really love that. If so, I will only have a carry-on and a small bag that I will take through security.
T-shirts are being worked on as we speak. I gave him the names that we had come up with. Triptophan Clan, Lotsomagic, Left over turkies, etc. We had some wickely humorous conversations and lets just say, I appologize now for my SICK since of humor. I wanted him to draw turkies with missing body parts snorkeling and sun bathing, people with mickey mouse ears passed out on lawn chairs with turkey legs in their hands, etc. He has a great eye and I'm sure that this will be interesting.
Currently the "Mom" of my step-daughter is saying that school is more important. I understand the logic, but.... My son will miss a whole week too, and I'm not worried. I would rather him get out and see the world, rather than read about it in books. I know that's bad of me, but until the last cruise I had never been outside the US. Plus I have to get him to snorkel again. I only got one picture of him in the water.

(Thanksgiving dinner at Cracker Barrell would Definitley be a let down after after last year's meal on the Magic!!) So, we are leaving Tuesday when kids get out of school, stop in Jackonsville, then on to WDW for Wed and Thurs. If you want to avoid the Thanksgiving Cracker Barrel experience, be sure to get a priority seating as soon as you possibly can. Everything, and I do mean everything, books up for Thanksgiving dinner at WDW. We did this last year, managed to get a PS for Liberty Tree Tavern. It was nice, but our first Thanksgiving away from home. It felt a little strange. We felt a little silly dressing up to go to the park, but we were in good company. Lots of other people did too. DD10 insisted on dressing up in a colonial outfit and the characters and even the servers made a huge fuss over her!

I think we should go with lime green shirts if they are available. I also don't think "Wild Turkeys" is such a bad name - unless it has already been taken by the group ahead of us? I'm thinking something like:
"Wild Turkeys....The One that Got Away"
DIS Magical Eastern Cruise
Nov 25-Dec 1, 2006
If there is enough $$ maybe we could get our names (board or real) on the front? BUT....because I have no talent and am not devoting the effort to these shirts this is ONLY a suggestion!! :teeth:
Thanks for the heads up about Ron Jon's. I have been keeping an eye out for the 'matching' Disney wear....I really like the idea of some family pics in the outfits, but there really hasn't been anything out there and because Disney won't ship to Canada placing the order is a bit more of a pain. I'll have to take a look at Ron Jon online.
Has anyone been doing the 'Mystery at Sea' game? It's really fun!
Take care everyone - gotta run - will check back in later.

Dutchs Mom-
I IMed my guy with the Wild Turkies, the ones that got away. He likes "Wild Turkey", so he may have already come up with that.
Lime green is great for me. (ANY ONE ELSE want to imput?) I don't know if I will be able to get the name put on the front, BUT.... Julia (an Original Turkey Cruiser) took the printable iron on transfers and made things to go on the back of her shirt. Since it was her family's 2nd or 3rd cruise, she had listed all the previous cruise dates along with their handle here on the boards. It was really cool. I will check into the cost for my guy doing it, but I have a feeling it will be expensive, as they will have to make a new silk screen for each name. But if you don't ask its an automatic NO. (my motto)
Only 252 days for me. Its WAY TOO Long.
Morning all!
I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on the "iron ons" Julia did for last year's Turkey Cruise. Not only did she doctor her family's shirts but she did a special one for Lampie. I don't remember everything she put on it, but it was a cut out of him, smiling ear to ear, toasting w/ a beer in hand. (For those of you who know, this is a standard pose for him.)
Lampie, if you have some time and are feeling daring, take a pic of your special shirt and post it, please.
Tonya is totally correct about them having to create a new screen for an individual's name - $$$. Dutchsmommy, what most people did (as we've discussed) was once they received their shirts in the mail, they doctored them to their liking. For example, the weren't able to get youth sizes (maybe smaller than L, XL - don't exactly remember, slept since then.), so they made a dress out of the oversized tshirt. It was really cute. The sleeves and along the bottom were cut into small strips w/ beads on the end. Tonya & Pam, correct me if I'm wrong, but she was also the one that had Tinkerbell wings on the back as well.
Hope everyone is well!

We are a pretty fun bunch ( ) LOL who are DYING for our cruise. I think you will find a TON of useful info on the DIS about the cruise - I know I have. Some of us are in the early stages of thinking about our excursions and pre-cruise accomodations (some people come in the night or a few days before). As you can see above, we are also talking about a 'name' for our group (Go Wild Turkey Go) and some kind soul (Thanks FavSlave!!) is looking into getting us matching shirts. Some of us know each other from past 'turkey' cruises - but others (like myself) have not met before and are REALLY looking forward to getting to know everyone. :grouphug:

I wrote that post earlier today thinking, I wonder if anyone will write back ... shoulda known better. Afterall, we are DISNEY PEOPLE, right?!
So it sounds like you already have quite a group put together. This is our 2nd DC, the first was last November 2005 over Thanksgiving with my entire family (12 people in all, from 7 to 70). This new one is my 40th birthday present from Hubby and also to celebrate our 10th anniversary. So, just like all of you, we are going pretty much crazy waiting for this damn day to arrive! Our house is inundated with DCL stuff ... books, tapes, DVDs, bookmarks on our favorites ... and we don't even have kids! But you have never been treated as well as you are on DCL!
Thanks for the welcome ... oh, and btw ... woogal is for the town we used to live in ... Wooster (Gal). I know, not as exciting an answer as it could've been. Would you like me to make something up instead?! :earsboy:

Welcome cruisemutt and woogal. I feel like I have been away for ever but DS had exams this week so we have been busy with the books and since he studies I study, I feel ,like I am in the 6th grade again also.
We made some reservations for our Alaskan cruise today so at least I ahve that in between to cut the time wait some.
And I do believe I have DH convinced that a quick trip to the mouse in June would be most acceptable, good thing since I booked Discovery Cove months ago :rotfl2:
I am off to pick up crawfish for dinner, gotta love Fridays in lent down south.

Hi Woogal and Bill!
Welcome aboard. I have added your names to....."THE LIST" and we now total at least 53 adults and 41 kids. Could be a few off as I'm not sure if I have the number of friends/family from DixieLady correct. I show Denise and 8 others but I think that has changed :confused3
Someone mentioned Wild Turkeys as our group name. Got me thinkin' of the saying "Jive Turkey" from the 70s days but I guess I'm showing my age.
HAPPY LAST WEEKEND OF WINTER EVERYONE! Good riddance.

Did anyone else see the Disney Cruise special on the Travel Channel? We taped then watched it, every scene one of us yelled "I saw that!" "I was there!"
My god ... we're obsessed ...
Don't worry ... new episodes of "Lost" start next week so we can obsess about something else for a while ... :)

Lynn,
I am sailing with my DH, DS12 and his friend also 12. Congrats on the new baby how much fun getting a babies room ready. What is your theme? Well good news here the contractors only have a week left on the inside of the house then they can start on the outside. They need to fix these problems before the next hurricane season starts.

Lynn,
June 1st starts hurricane season for us. and yes all the work is due to Katrina we live in Jefferson Parish and our home flooded. I bet the Winnie the Pooh is adorable is it the one that is in the neutral tones? I am sure your som will love his room. My sons was Mickey when he was born and now he is as disney obsessed as his mom.

Welcome Lyn and family,
It is good our family of diser's is still growing. :thumbsup2
Good luck with the baby's room. I am decorating one of our guest rooms in a disney theme. But I am using lot of characters instead of just one. It is a lot of fun. :rotfl:

Morning all!
Trey :surfweb:
I don't rermember about the tinkerbell, but I do think that a few females (esp teens) had modified their shirts. Pam

I
So it sounds like you already have quite a group put together.
We were on that cruise as well. There is another DIS member (besides Tanya and Trey) from the Thanksgiving Cruise last year going on this cruise, but he is pretty quiet, so you probably wouldn't have noticed him on the last cruise..... :cool1: Pam
