Just stopping by to say "Hi" :wave: before I stop obsessing over the DIS boards and move on to obsessing about packing & trip preparation. :rotfl:
After this afternoon's carnival, we don't have any plans for the weekend -- unless you call cooking :stir:, cleaning, laundry :laundy: , packing, eating popcorn:: , drinking :drinking1 , and watching TV :happytv: "plans."
OK -- now that we've talked about what we're most looking forward to on board, I'll throw this discussion topic out there: (Talk amongst yourselves!):
What are some of the actual on-board activities you plan to do?
In addition to the usual eating, drinking and relaxing & reading, I hope to get to the gym almost everyday (never made it there on our 3-day), spend time in the Rainforest, check out the wine and/or martini tasting, and possibly go to one of the entertainment classes -- desserts, napkin-folding, etc. Then again, I may never want to move from my lounge chair. :rotfl2:
Lynn, I don't think we've set any sort of time for dinner / get-together. If I remember right, Jeff & family arrive in the early evening. We arrive mid-afternoon and then will spend the afternoon glued to the TV for a football game. I'm thinking sometime after 6:00. . . If we can't all hook up for dinner, we can definitely get together for drinks/snacks, etc. I guess we better start figuring this out! A lot will also be dependent on the kids and how the travel day has gone up to that point.

My dad spent 30 years in the Navy and always WANTED to go on a cruise. He said he wanted to finally be on a ship where he didn't have to work and someone was waiting on him! :lmao:

For those who have reserved spa services onboard, you might want to take a look at your reservations. There was a posting on the main board yesterday about the length of some services changing. One that we had scheduled had the time reduced by one third. So, just an FYI to re-evaluate whether or not you would still be interested in paying for the service.

What are some of the actual on-board activities you plan to do?
In addition to the usual eating, drinking and relaxing & reading, I hope to get to the gym almost everyday (never made it there on our 3-day), spend time in the Rainforest, check out the wine and/or martini tasting, and possibly go to one of the entertainment classes -- desserts, napkin-folding, etc. Then again, I may never want to move from my lounge chair. :rotfl2:

DH and I love Bingo on the ship.... :blush:, We also are planning on trips to the rainforest room, We LOVE The tile lounge chairs!! We went to the towel folding on our last trip... Our monkey came out looking more like a thanksgiving turkey! It was fun though!!
I can't wait to walk through the mickey ear archway and head on to the ship!!! 3 weeks from today we board!!! :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana:

Afternoon all:
Being this is my first cruise, I have a lot of things and that I am really looking forward to. However, my main one on the first day is...being in the terminal...meeting everyone before boarding the ship. I am really looking forward to that. :) But my list does go on.....from there of course is getting on the ship itself.....hearing our name being announced....I know I am going to tear up....so if anyone has the same boarding number and you see me just ignore me....Wally does... :rotfl2: Looking forward to the sail away party, the countdown, the horn...the dolphins...just cant wait....
I was ironing and I think I am going to start packing some things today. Then just make some dinner and chill the rest of the afternoon and evening.
Well going to my dad's tomorrow morning then my DS is spending the rest of his day finishing making my signs, I already told him this morning that he was grounded tomorrow until they get finished.....

The thing I am looking forward to the most is just getting on the ship and meeting everyone and sailing away into sunst. I also can't wait to be on a nice white sandy beach :cool1: Of course the warm weather is always a plus too~! :sunny:
As far as what we will be doing on the ship......Sitting by the pool :bitelip: Last time we were on a holiday sailing we went to the gingerbread house making. That was fun for the kids. We will most likely do that again. Also would like to play bingo a couple of times. We will try to go to the kite making. My DD would like to go to the tea with Wendy. Has any one gone to that before? I have read it is not that great. Wines tasting sounds good too! Oh so much to choose from-What shall I do?
We are having a big party here tomorrow. I must go now to clean the house and do some laundry :laundy:

Hi my lady friends,or should I say my wife's friends. Sorry you were all on and I was not able to get on this site last night. I took my Harley for a short ride today ...it was cold, :moped: but there is nothing better than the wind soaring through your hair and being a free spirit. I keep my hair short, so there are no bad hair days. :) I guess, I should be honored with my two new titles.....DREAMBOAT, and BIGBOY. You all seem to be a great group of ladies, and I cant wait to meet Shell, and the rest of you ladies in person in a few weeks. : :wave: Wally :smokin:

DH and I did the Martini and Tequila tasting last year. Be warned, the Martini tasting is OK. I repeat OK. The martini's are small (lush husband) and there is only one true martini. 4 of them are faux-tini's and one looked like pepto in a glass. (I didn't try that one) The tequila tasting is good, but they start you out with WELL tequila and by the time you get the Patron, your taste buds are dead. The strawberry marg. was great. But once again you get a small glass. I know that you all want to try it but I wanted to let you know what you had in store. I'm not complaining, I had a great time, they give the history of the drinks etc, and after the tequila tasting I in was need of bread products (was tanked, cheap date). DH will be trying the Beer tasting this time, but I will spend my time on deck waiting for a server to come and serve me.
Off to eat SUSHI, the soccer season is over on Wednesday and I don't have to work again until March, at least on soccer.

HI Wally - Nice to hear from you!! I guess you live in a State where you don't have to wear a helmet when riding? Both DH and I have our motorcycle licenses but up here you have to wear a helmet all the time. There have been some times in the summer when it would have been nice to not have to wear one - but those bugs can be killer LOL :teeth:
We went and got DSs hair cut this morning - he looks pretty cute if I do say so myself. DH is back from Vegas. He had a good time but his feet are really tired from walking around so much. The PBR (prof. Bull Riding) Championships where on in Vegas while he was there so he got himself a belt buckle, toque (natch!) and got DS and I t-shirts. We love PBR and I think my shirt is great!! He got to meet a few of the ridings as well - lucky dog!! Some of those guys just make me drool. :love:
We also stopped by a formal wear place today and it just so happens they were having a warehouse sale, so we managed to get DS a bow-tie, tux shirt and buttons and cufflinks. Thank goodness the lady was helping us - I had no idea you had to buy buttons (who ever heard of a shirt without buttons???) Anyway - as you might have guessed we do not attend many black-tie affairs so it should be interesting to see the clan all gussied-up pirate:
I am looking forward to what everyone has said and in addition I can't wait for the warm weather. I can't tell you how nice it is to just walk around in shorts and sandals in December!!!!!!!!!!!! Those of you from the North will understand. I also am looking forward to so really nice pics of the family. We do not have any 'formal' family shots - most of our pics have either DH or myself and DS in them and we have none with us dressed up, so I am looking forward to that. In fact, I am starting to worry a bit about the $$ we may spend and am second guessing our couples massage cabin - it is REALLY expensive and I keep thinking of all the other stuff we could buy with the $$. The cost is $475 and the more I think about it the more I wonder whether we would be better off to do the rainforest/rasul or something else. We could buy many :drinking1 in the Club for that amount of $$ and while I really want something just for DH and I (and man do we need some 1:1 time) I don't want to be thinking about the cost instead of enjoying the treatment.
Anyway - lots to think about as we inch closer to the big day. :hourglass

well our remodel on the bathroom is done and it looks AWESOME!!!
I am glad it is done, only 4 more bathrooms to go.
It was a beautiful day here today.
We are still pretty quiet on this thread today.
I did find another person on the forum who is on our cruise and I invited him to join us here. He didnt post his name.

Wow, another busy day for me and DS :thumbsup2 . DH got so much painting done while we were out. We left the house at 8:45am and got home at 5:45pm. It was a VERY long day!!! My Mom took me to The Christmas Tree Shop and the Church Christmas Boutique and then the Mall. The Christmas Tree Shop is a really nice store ;) !!
Tomorrow I am relaxing and packing up my suitcase because I have been so worried about DS's I forgot about mine. Well I am sooooooo tired from walking around I am going to shower and get my PJ's on and lay on the sofa and watch TV with DH. Talk to you all tomorrow.

SARAH - I can tell you from experience that the Rasul at the Spa was really great for 1 on 1 time (wink, wink). Me and DH also had just a regular couples massage and that was nice too. Both of them combined I think would be cheaper than the Spa room. Just a thought if you want different ideas.
What I'm looking forward too....hearing our family's name welcomed on to the ship (we LOVE that part)....pulling up to the port and seeing the ship.....the sail away party...meeting all of you guys (all though I'll admit to being a bit scared :scared1: ;) .....warm, sunny weather..... alone time with DH....fun family time together without outside interruptions (phone, tv, homework, work)....I really can't wait for all of it!!!!
We are finally going to get our garage sale over with tomorrow so DH and I have a long night ahead of us. However, the money we are going to make won't be going on the cruise with us :sad1: DH got slammed by a buck the other night and his car is not doing so well. It's considered "undriveable" right now so we had to get a rental and we will have to pay out the deductible on the insurance to get it fixed. However, DH is VERY lucky. It rammed right into his driver side door and did some serious damage. We are very happy that he didn't get hurt. So needless to say...we could really use the Disney Magic right now....

Went to my favorite Mexican restaurant in Detroit for lunch today. Great way to start the weekend. Dave should be back anytime from the MSU game. State lost to Purdue.
Funny today's discussion is about activitites on board. Dave brought up this subject yesterday. I "study" the Navigators the night before and highlight activities I/he/we want to do. I carry a Naviagator in my bag that I carry around the ship. Dave mentioned that we have never been to the napkin, martini, beer, taquila sessions. I go to Bingo at least once each cruise; we've done the bridge tour, galley tour, Walt Disney Theater backstage tour, Disney discussions, such as makings of Disneyland, WDW; DVC meet. I like to browse in the shops -- there are usually items on sale, but you have to look for them. I've gone to a few character meet and greets. Deck 4 is my favorite place to read and drink a beverage in the afternoons. You'll find Dave at the adult pool a lot. He does get out of the pool just before the adult games start, though. He got caught one year and made a fun fool out of himself. We've been known to hang out in the coffee shop talking with other cruisers. We tried the rainforest last year for the first time. Loved those heated chairs.

OK - I have read this about 3 times and have to ask....did you mean Buick? Or did some dumb deer actually smash into the side of his car?? Was he actually driving and this thing came out of nowhere? I just don't picture New Jersey as a deer-infested wilderness?? :confused3
Canadian Beefcake has just taken mini-beefburger out to see 'Flushed Away'. We took a look at the trailers online and it looks pretty cute. Apparently from the same folks as 'Shrek'. So, I have a few hours to myself :cloud9:

actually it is only 4 1/2 baths, and I DO NOT clean them all. :confused3
Let me rephrase that, we use our bathroom in the master bedroom, which I clean. DS has his own bathroom which he has to clean.
The 1/2 bath is downstairs and guest use it, so I clean it. Now all the rest are for guests in the extra bedrooms and NOBODY is allowed to use them unless it is company that is staying with us.
That way I only have to dust every 2 or 3 weeks and flush a couple of times a week to keep the water from making a ring.
There is NO WAY I would be cleaning all those bathrooms all the time :sad2:
well it is late here and almost my bedtime, so I will say good night and I will check back in the morning. :goodvibes

Sorry for being among the missing all day - Went out to lunch with the female half of our Disney 'newbies' couple. I wish i'd had a camera when she realized she was going to Cirque de Soleil! and even MORE so when I told her it was "free, included with the package". (70 years old, Polish, VERY close with a buck. I've been making the plans in collaboration with the husband, my former boss.)
Wow! Too bad about the close encounter with the buck! I got an 8 pointer like that once - right front shoulder.
I had hoped that by the chance we got to 10K of those miserable yellow fruits the rest of you would be sick of them too and we wouldn't see them anymore!
Oh, Tonya - I hope the hairy godmother bought something for HERSELF and not Miss Dimples. SHE had a little meltdown in the bear store this afternoon. There was this wonderful red and black satin dress with red and black ear bows. Would have been perfect for the cruise . . . except it was for a DOG! We were looking at the 'back' of it. Poor Dimples sobbed and whimpered for an hour.
I'll try and point Bruce over here tomorrow. He's not very 'chatty'. (and is THAT ever an understatement!)

Sarah - LOL :rotfl: No it wasn't a buick...it was in fact a buck that was dumb enough to ram the side of his car. Actually, NJ is LOADED with deer and where we are in Central Jersey we definitely have our fair share. They are in our back yard all the time...and where we live is actually wilderness, although we live on an acre of property.

There must be something to doing what you love...my dad loved flying and going to work was fun for him...but, he was also VERY frugal...so maybe cruises were just too expensive for him! :laughing: We may have traveled...but it was free airfare....cheap hotels and pb&j/donuts in the room for meals.

For those going on Sunny Liston's tour, I got an email from him tonight. Did you? Unfortuniately, we are tendering at St. Thomas but he'll be there when we get off the tender and has room for us to lock up stuff, like snorkeling stuff, etc. This is the first time in our 7 cruises that we are tendering.
Have a great Sunday. We are heading to Detroit for our granddaughter's 4th birthday party.

Yep we get in late afternoon so drinks/snacks will work better in our world than dinner...AND I also reserve the right to do a quick driveby since wife and both DDs may be off on their own if the kids are cranky. So we shall see. But we are up for it hopefully.
Just wrapping up my visit to beautiful West coast of FLA and i refuse to talk about the football game i came to see. My team stinks this year - so I'm ready now for basketball season where the Panthers are ranked #5 preseason.

Sounds like your evening may have been similiar to ours....cozy fire, a couple beers and curled up watching tv...
As for the cruise....I don't know what I want to do yet, everything sounds GREAT....time will tell. I am taking everyones advice about not having great expectations to do it all...but willing to try everything
I agree Cheri...about the Radisson AND the cruise...we have to see how the kids are doing. But, we'll be there on Thursday night!

Dad never got to do a cruise because of the cost. Our vacations sound very similar though. Getting the hotel went like this:
Dad: Lay down in the back seat!
Me: Why:
Dad: So they won't charge us for you!

Oh, Kathy! HOW I WISH I WAS THERE! It's another cold morning here in upstate New York!
Woogal, my list of favorites goes just like yours. I'm 'blissed out' just by getting to the port, and the first day is rich with the knowledge that there are many more to follow. But the next 7 days goes by in an eyewink, each one sadder than the last because it's closer to the day we must departYes, we got that note from Sonny Listen too. I'm not very fond of tendering, being somewhat unstable on my feet. But, I managed it in Grand Cayman in '04, and I will manage it this year too. I'm still dithering over whether to book an excursion in St. Martin. I wish we were doing Sonny's first - then I'd know how I liked it.
One of my docs goes every year two weeks to a resort on Orient Beach. He says one day won't be sufficient. Perhaps not, but it's all I've got, so I want to make the most of it!
Guess it's time to get up and at 'em. I got a line on some gaucho pants on sale so need to get my work done and get out to the other mall. Might hit the Christmas tree shop too, Lynn. YOU are so right - the best part is - it's affordable!

DH and I did the Martini and Tequila tasting last year. Be warned, the Martini tasting is OK. I repeat OK. The martini's are small (lush husband) and there is only one true martini. 4 of them are faux-tini's and one looked like pepto in a glass. (I didn't try that one) The tequila tasting is good, but they start you out with WELL tequila and by the time you get the Patron, your taste buds are dead. The strawberry marg. was great. But once again you get a small glass. I know that you all want to try it but I wanted to let you know what you had in store. I'm not complaining, I had a great time, they give the history of the drinks etc, and after the tequila tasting I in was need of bread products (was tanked, cheap date). DH will be trying the Beer tasting this time, but I will spend my time on deck waiting for a server to come and serve me.

Let me know if I have this straight:
For the martini tasting, you get about 4 or 5 mini samples of martinis -- one is a vodka martini, one is gin, and the others are "flavored"(?). I should hope they're all small!!!! :crazy:
For the tequila / margarita, you get a few shots of various tequilas followed by a small margarita at the end.
I know nothing about the wine tasting, but I'll assume they have a couple reds & whites.
Then at each "class" they probably give a bit of info about the various drinks. :teacher: I've read varying reviews about each, and I was under the impression that you're getting small samples instead of actual full-sized drinks.
How close am I??

There must be something to doing what you love...my dad loved flying and going to work was fun for him...but, he was also VERY frugal...so maybe cruises were just too expensive for him! :laughing:
Don't get me wrong, my dad LOVED to fly -- in fact his two careers were his two hobbies -- flying & farming!! (He still farms -- I can see some of their cattle now as I look out the window! :rotfl: :rotfl: )
I know what you mean about the frugality!! OMG -- we stayed in some very interesting motels!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :sad2: While getting to fly first class was great, there's a special comfort of going to the airport and knowing I'll get on a flight. Besides, I don't think flying is as fun today as it used to be.
I'm sure we'll have some good stories to share!!!!! :chat:

DD had a great time at the carnival yesterday! In addition to all the junky toys she won at various games, she won a plate of cupcakes from the cake walk and a bottle of Coke from the ring toss. (The Coke will probably be stolen by DH & mixed with Bacardi!! :drinking1 :rotfl: )
I got stuck working a double shift at a game because they didn't have enough workers. Oh well, I helped young gamblers hone their dice-throwing skills as they tried to roll doubles in order to win a prize! Next stop, Vega$!!!!

Hi Jan (or anyone else who has been / done that),
Can you tell me more about the rainforest? I thought I had read somewhere that you can pay for either a one-day visit or for an unlimited full-week pass to go. Also is this something that requires a reservation, or do you just show up and hope everyone else on board doesn't have the same plan? (a.k.a first-come, first-served)
Like I said, I know I read about it waaaaaaaaaaay back, but now I can't find anything about it!

We went to the rain forest on a day pass. We could have gone as many times as we wanted on the day pass. This year, we are planning to get the week pass. Reservations are not needed to go to the rain forest.

Well, beefcake and mini-b had a great time at 'Flushed Away' and I had a bit of peace, which is always nice. They are outside right now being 'firestraters' with our chiminea. Boys will be boys they tell me! :rolleyes:
It looks like my sister *may* be in labour. This is her first and she is pretty excited. I am excited for her! A little boy is on the way. They are up in Sudbury ON which is pretty far North so I am hoping the weather holds for them - itis a 1/2 hr drive to the Hospital so we defiantely don't want to add white-outs to that (for you Southerners that is snow squalls so bad you can't see in front of your face to drive anywhere). Anyway, this will be my first 'Aunt' assignment so I am looking forward to it!
I had to go out shopping today for some fall/winter work clothes. The closet was looking pretty bare. I managed to pick up a fe things - I am a major mix and match person - and am happy it is over. As you can see I am not a big shopper. I can never get pants to fit (too big in the waist to fit over my ample bum and thighs) *sigh*. And shoes are a pain as well becuase I have stupid giant waterskis for feet. Anyway, with the help of Walmart, Old Navy and Payless I have a few things to wear and am not in the poor house. I definately need Lynn up here to get me in the shopping mood! :teeth:
Well, I better get started on my piece-de-resistance dinner for this evening 'le sloppy joes' so we'll talk to everyone later.

Afternoon all:
Well this has been one busy weekend for me.....but I have to say, yesterday I did get some ironing and also packing done. I have one suitcase packed.
Shell: We are bringing a garment bag that can be checked in that we are putting Wally's suits and my dress. I'm hoping that will keep them less wrinkled. :confused3
Well I went to my dads this morning in Chicago and visited with him for a few hours, then on the way home, stopped and did grocery shopping. After I come home and put all that away, my DS and I worked on my door signs and have them all completed :woohoo: :cheer2: :banana: ....I think they turned out really well. Then after that, went and did more ironing, cleaned up the kitchen as Wally made some salsa (& a huge mess) which also smelled up my whole house. So this is the first time since I have been home that I got to sit down for a few minutes. Oh yeah I almost forgot, I packed up a package to send to my DD. :sad2: man I tired just reading all of that.

Well today DH and I got so much done!! Well talked to my Mom today and she was upset because my grandmother is not doing so well. She suffered a stroke 6 years ago which left her bedridden :sad2:. Howdy,
well we had a great day at Magic Kingdom today. It was great weather and we were there by opening time, so we had some time before it got too busy. Although it was a busy day for off season.
I did see one Disney cruise Line bus full of happy people on their way to board the Wonder. Mickey, Donald and Goofy were having a party in the back window, but they wouldnt let me come and play :sad2:
After we were done at MK we went to the Winter/summer wonderland mini golf course by Blizzard beach. With annual passes we get in for 1/2 price which is great!! There is a small pond along side the golf course and there is a small slab of concrete on one end for maintenance. On that slab was a nice alligator sunning himself today.
One little boy got so excited that he ran to his car to get his camera to take a picture. I was thinking where there is a smaller gator there is always a bigger gator!!!
Well hopefully tomarrow I will be ble to finish my last door sign.

WOW what a day!! We went to church, then came home to get ready for our party. party: We had 25 friends over. They are a bunch of our old neighbors. Everyone slowly moved away. We all had kids around the same time and have kept in touch over the years. The kids range in age from 2-10. It was fun, but I am beat :faint:
I am taking a garmet bag for my dresses and DH suits. We have done this several time and it ususally works great.
We are arriving Thanksgiving day. I don't think we will be doing a whole lot that day. I would like to hit the Disney out let store. They have some great deals!! Much cheaper than Magic Kingdom We are staying at Pop Century. We are going to Magic Kingdom on Friday ::MinnieMo :earsboy: Should be fun.
What are everyones plans for shore excursions?? We have the Coral World /Island tour shore excursion booked for St Thomas. We picked that because we thought the kids would like Coral World. I did not book anything for St Martin. I have read a lot about Maho Beach. It is near the airport and I guess the jets fly right over the beach. I read it is a must see for the kids. DH and I have watched some videos on you tube-it is amazing. Don't think I would want to stand right under on of those big jets. :scared1: Also heard about a beach called Little Divi Bay. Any one else have any suggestions?

We go to Florida on November 17th and staying at Wilderness Lodge. (And, I won't be wired, so if there's anything I need to know about meets decided after that, somebody Puleeeeeeeeeeze call me!)
Got the bears clothes out and ready to pack. got a pile of stuff I might LIKE to take. Started organizing Villa stuff - laundry kit, snack kit, grocery list, coffee kit. When we used to camp, I had a great list - never forgot anything. I'm not that wll organized any more.
Winter trips just require so much more stuff than summer. Summer a few shorts and shirts and sandals does it.
Shell, I hang the stuff in plastic cleaners bags and then interleave them in the suitcase still on the hangers. In otherwords, lay the bottom of the skirt in the suitcase with the top hanging over the top. Then lay the next garment in 1/4 turn with the top h aning over the side. Next garment goes 1/4 turn further. Then the first garment gets folded over, then the second, and so forth. it makes the folds padded and nothing gets creased. unfold and hang at destination.

Cheri, yes you get MINI sized drinks. The shots are full sized or at least they felt full sized as they were burning holes in my esophagus. But the speciality drinks are small, they want to wet your taste buds so you'll buy the big ones I guess. But we had a great time, I think I was in a bad mood yesterday, so take everything I said with a grain of salt, especially TEQUILA. hehe
Shell, Linda is right on about the plastic garment bags from the dry cleaners. I usually pack the wrinkly stuff last and then hang it up first. I didn't have any trouble with my dress and tuxes last year. You could also get a small bottle of that wrinkle release stuff and use it.
Also we are leaving Spring patch on Friday morning and flying in to FLA in the afternoon. We are probably going to go straight to Cocoa Beach as last year we were so tired that we got lost on the way down. It didn't make for a great start for the vacation (didn't help that I locked the keys in the car at the airport either). Who said they were at the Radisson and who was up for dinner and drinking?
Linda, Good lord I shop for myself all the time. I need a little girl to shop for. They laughed when I came in with a list at Build-a-bear. They asked if it was for my little girl, I said ah no my hairy god child. I got some strange looks, but still got what I wanted. Now I have to remember to pack it all.
I got my regional ornament this weekend. DH took me shopping and was very helpful. He actually found it I was just walking around mouth breathing.
Who ever was trying to entice my DH from his hole, good luck. He is as busy as a one armed paper hanger. We both deserve this vacation.

Tonya, Dimples will be VERY glad to see you! That is exactly why we got her, I think. We needed a little girl! Our son has only provided us with granddogs, and our adopted granddaughter is growing up - certainly NOT a little girl any more.
Excursions in St. Martin is a good question. I've been procrastinating. We'll probably just take a taxi to a beach. That strategy worked out very well for us in Cozumel - the driver took us to paradise - Nachicocoom.

Linda you'll love the Wilderness lodge.
We stayed there last December for our anniversary. The one dinner only restaurant is VER GOOD!! very expensive too!! But it features all the food from the Northwest, which is our home area.
We often go MG and catch the boat to wilderness lodge and walk the trail to the wilderness campground and then catch the boat there and go to the Contempory to eat at Chef Mickeys and then back.
Tonya, we will be at the Radisson too, but wont be up for partying. We old folks need our rest so we can stay up past 8 p.m. on the ship :rotfl2:

It's a bright, sunny, chilly day here in NJ. It supposed to warm up a bit over the next few days though...high 50's, low 60's...which for this time of year is great!
Well we finally got the yard sale over with yesterday. We did pretty well I think. But then again, the way I look at it..all of the stuff was $0 when it was in the basement...so whatever we sold it for is great! It was a beautiful day yesterday...nice and sunny...so it was nice just hanging out outside with DH and the kids.
I REALLY can't believe how soon we leave!!! I MUST get busy with organizing, making signs, making lists and then crossing things off. Besides the cruise, we still haven't figured out what we are doing about decorating the house...I think we may do most of it on Thanksgiving Day. We are leaving bright and early the day after Thanksgiving and will be staying at Saratoga Springs for the 1st time on Friday night. We will be spending the afternoon at Epcot more than likely, "Soarin'" around and taking the 'Fast Track' thru the park :) and then we are off to dinner and the Candlelight Processional. We haven't done this yet so we are looking forward to it.

Kathy -- glad to hear you had a good time at WDW.
Someone had asked about excursions -- we haven't booked anything. On St. Maartin, I think we'll check out the casinos and then head to Little Divi Bay (or whatever it's called). I had read some decent reviews about it having calm waters and being family friendly & close to the ship. All is dependent on DD's activities for the day.
On St. Thomas, I may grab Lynn so she can shop for me!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Sarah, like you, I'm not much of a shopper! I also have a hard time finding clothes that fit and look good. I find it much easier to shop for others.
Wendy -- since you won't be shopping on Friday before we cruise, you'll have to buy-out St Thomas -- they do give lots of extra allowances!
Seriously, I'm not really sure what we'll do on St.Thomas or St. John. I'm so glad to hear we'll be tendering to the port. :rolleyes1 NOT!! :sad2:
I had a mini-epiphany about my door signs, so I think I know how to fashion them. :thumbsup2 I told Jessalyn that we needed to make door signs to mark which room is ours. She promptly made paper signs with our names on them on hung them on our bedroom doors! :rotfl2: Not quite what I had in mind.

If this is (and I'm sure it is with all the :hyper2: that goes on here) a question that has been asked before, please forgive me. (I'm too tired and too darn lazy to go back and read the previous posts) Can I bring a case of bottled water with me on the ship?
Pat: As long as you pack it in your checked baggage, it should be okay. That way, you can bring a suitcase of water, and then have plenty of room to take your shopping conquests home.
For those of you that have gone before us; is it easy to use your debit card on the islands? I don't know if I should bring most of my fun money or leave it in my account and use my debit card. Thanks
Can't speak for the islands, but I had no problem with it in Europe last year. Just use it as a Visa or Mastercard (whoever issues your debit card) and don't try and do PIN based transactions (not a good idea anyway). The merchants will run it through just like a VISA and you will sign a credit card slip. It will deduct from your account in a few days.

Another thing about using a credit card out of the country. Make sure you tell your credit card company that you will be using it OUT OF THE COUNTRY. I would hate for them to deny you using it because they thought it was fraudulent. Just something else to do before you go.
Linda and the girls, just got my Tiara in the morning mail. I tried to wear it at work but everyone just looked at me funny. I guess I will wear it at home where I know i'm a princess.

Hey Lucinda! Great to hear from you! Glad that things went well over the weekend and you got some "me" time!
As for the cruise docs, it depends on if you used a TA or booked directly with DCL, and if you booked with a TA, which one you used. For some travel agents, Disney will send the documents to them, and then the TA will send them to you, thus slowing the process. I have heard of people getting them as much as 3 weeks prior, and some who don't get them but a few days before. They normally will come UPS, but I am sure that Kathy can provide much better insight than I!

I booked through DU and they told me 10 days. Then I called DCL and they told me 14 days. Is anyone else using DU.

They come UPS. Sometimes we have had to sign for them other times I have found them under my door matt and was glad nobody took them while I was gone.
I have been sitting outside enjoying the great 70 degree weather today.
But I see quite a few of you have been posting this morning, we may just make that 5000 posts yet!!
Oh, by the way, we havnt got our docs yet either :rotfl2: Gotcha ya!!
usually they come about 2 weeks out, but as Bob said if you used a TA it may take a few days longer. You can always print off docs on line and check in on line, then you just bring those papers with you instead of the docs you get via UPS.
Some people said it is faster to check in on line first, but we found out that we still did all the same stuff at the terminal to check in, so we are not going to do it again. It didnt save us anytime.

I found it strange after you asked this question....I have not even thought about cruise documents this time around. We were so excited to get them on our first cruise, but I don't think I have even had the thought of "Gosh, I can't wait until they get here!" Hmmm...wonder why that is the case this time?

I know. it's shocking. But I have a real question re the cruise. We are taking DCL bus to the port but don't want to return that way because the airline we are on is not a check in at the port option (southwest) and I don't need to end my vacation hauling my bags all over MCO.
We want to take a towncar/van service back to MCO after the cruise. Who have you used? When do you tell them to show up? Is it as easy as the buses?

We've used FL Tours a number of times and been happy with their service. We had them pick us up fairly early becuase we had an early flight. Can't compare to the buses as we have never used them. You can book the FL Tours car on their website.
I am not relying on my docs getting here on time - I will just download the stuff from the website. Last time we cruised our TA had to actually purolate our pkg to WDW as it did not arrive in time for us to get it at home.
So if you recall DH arrived home from Vegas on Friday. So on Saturday I am doing laundy - taking the washing out to put in the dryer - and guess what I should see??? His Passport - he had left it in his pants and it was sopping. I was a little :furious: becuase I swear I have asked him to check his pockets a million times. Anyway, he sheepishly ironed it and I think it will be OK. Man....that's all we need is to not have the ID necessary for the trip!!!!!!
Anyway - got a meeting, gotta go...talk to you later.

Jeff...I've heard REALLY good things about Happy Limo. That's who we have booked to get from airport, to resort, to terminal, back to resort and back to airport. The woman that helped me over the phone was great.

We are using FL Tours from SSR to the port. For the seven of us it is pretty reasonable. I have never used them before so I will let you know.
They are also picking us up on the 2nd and taking us back to SSR.
Our flight is not until Sunday.

What's this about documents? I thought that's what we got months ago in that little packge that looked like a suitcase or something? I also filled a bunch of stuff out on line - do I need to bring prints of that too?? my list gets longer and longer.
Bruce rebuilt the steps this weekend. Even he admits the new ones are much sturdier than the old ones - It's like a boulevard compaired to a two lane road.
Don't have to worry about DutchsDaddy teasing me, do I? Anyone who would leave his passport in his pocket has NO room to tease ;-)

Well DS went to the Doctor's for his 6 month check-up and boy he was not happy to get 4 shots plus the Flu shot. He started crying :sad: :sad: before he got the shots :sad2: :sad2: !! He is 15 lbs and he can start eating Cheerios and Fruit Puffs!! Wow no more baby :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: !! I made beef stew for dinner while DS was sleeping. I was not feeling great today. I had a terrible headache :headache: :headache: :headache: that I woke-up with and still has not gone away!! Well DS is crying and just wants to be held so let me go hold him!!

I got my Hep A short before we left last year. So did the DS. I don't ever get the flu shot (and with that admission I will come down with it the week of the cruise) so Knock on Wood now.
Jeff I don't know what time they make you get off the ship, we milled around and took a couple pictures after breakfast and then with tears in our eyes made our way down stairs to get off the boat.

Lynn - Wow! Cheerios already. Laura is 8 mos. and she hasn't had them yet. Maybe Wednesday...I have her then ;) Does Drew have his top front teeth yet? Laura has her two fangs! No top front teeth yet, although I believe I felt them just at the gum line. She looks so funny when she smiles. she does have two bottom ones. I can't wait to meet your little guy and I'm so looking forward to you all meeting Cullen and Laura.

No flu shots here. I got one one time and I got the flu a few days later. They say the shot had nothing to do with it but you can't convince me of that.
Have a good evening all - we are suppose to have a 40 percent chance of rain tomorrow. I'm hoping it won't last long. We, Kathy and I, are doing our best to keep the :sunny: for all of you who are visiting before the cruise.
I can't remember who said they are staying at Fort Wilderness Lodge. :thumbsup2 it is the best! We stayed there several times. Loved it. It's nice to sit in the lobby and just relax and watch people come and go. The most fun part of all is watching people's faces when they enter the building for the first time. We've also stayed in the campers at Fort Wilderness.

If I remember correctly from last year-Topsiders is not open on debarkation day...you eat breakfast in the same dinning room you ate dinner in the evening before...I think you need to be off the ship by 09:30am.
Rode on public train system (SEPTA) for the first time in my life today-and I'm 42 years old!-went to Philly-a girl that used to work with us in the hospital went to Jefferson to go to an accelerated nursing program-we met her there and had a quick tour and lunch-it was a great time. :banana:
Going tonight to the high school for Junior Family Night-for DS Josh-(joelidol). Need to find out about the college search, financial aid, and scholarship info....poor house here we come :rotfl2: :scared1: .
We are flying down to Fla on Friday the 24th-staying in Cocoa Beach at the Best Western-anyone else staying there???

We had the choice of the buffet for a continental style breakfast or to go to an assigned breakfast a restaurant at a specific time, which they tell you. It depended on your dining time.
it is a small breakfast so we just do the buffet and zip off the ship.

It's us staying at Wilderness Lodge! I'm looking forward to seeing the faces of the first timers, when we lead them through the doors and then step aside so they get the full impact of that lobby. lol oh yeah i'd better have the camera ready!
Flu shot tomorrow for me. I don't dare not to. Had pneumonia shot too. Poor little Drew baby. They don't understand - and it's scarey too.
Door sign done. Bear clothes sorted out. . . decisions made on Marathon trip . . . Does anyone drive a minivan? I'm thinking I need to rent a minivan for next week because my 'old lady' will have an ecv and i'm not confident she can get it on a bus. But the two men could sling it in the rear of a van. How different is it driving a van than a car? What are the pitfalls? (Currently drive a middleaged Chrysler, and usually rent Malibus or whatever the next size up is.)

Thanks Kathy - That's what I remembered from August too (re the breakfast choices) but I couldn't remember the times. We actually went to the dining room for breakfast and it was downright depressing. The servers are clearly "done" with you and we didn't have a great team to begin with so that morning there weren't the fake smiles and happiness that we had seen all week. All business. like being at Denny's. So this time, we decided we will DEFINITELY hit the continental buffet at Topsiders and have good memories of our time in the dining room earlier in the week.

I just finished ironing blouses/tops for the cruise.
Jeff: You might want to look at Barb Ingkotnito's website as she highly recommends Happy Limo. I think she has a coupon on her site for Happy Limo. PM me if you want her web address as I don't want to break any DIS rules. As Barb and her DH Tony have been on 40+ DCL cruises, she does have a lot of valuable info on her site, including current Navigators, spa, secret porthole rooms, menus, etc.
Shell: We plan to be in Orlando by 10 am on Friday, 11/24. We're staying at SSR. We're hoping to leave early for Cocoa Beach on Saturday - grocery stop and hoping to stop at Shirley's shop.
We don't plan on going to the parks at WDW, but thinking of visiting different resorts to see their Christmas decorations. Any suggestions on a "do not miss" resort re: the decorations? Our dinner reservations are at SSR's Turf Club.
Wilderness Lodge info: Can't remember who wanted to know, but this resort is beautiful. We stayed in the DVC section of the resort.
Linda: Thanks for the packing tip. Sounds easy, but it'll probably be a challenge for me!
Door signs: With so many of us bringing door signs, how do you pack them so that they don't get squished in a suitcase? I'm hoping to find some cardboard at work to protect them. Any other suggestions?
Shell: I have not yet gotten the flu shot. I always get one as I have a lung condition (sarcoidosis). However, I get sick-like symptoms shortly after I get the shot, so I may not get one until after the cruise. I don't want to be sick before or during the cruise.
Jeff: What's our bet for the Saturday's game -- another drink :woohoo: ???!!! Are you planning to be in Morgantown on Saturday? If all goes as planned, I'll be in Morgantown Friday and Saturday. My DD, 2 gkds and I are heading to Cleveland on Thursday morning. My DD and DGS will go to the Wiggles concert in downtown Cleveland. Our plan is to head to Morgantown on Friday.
Sunny Liston: For those of you taking Sunny's tour on St. Thomas, did you receive an e-mail from him this weekend? He reminded me that we'll be tendering at St. Thomas and he'll meet us when we get off the tender.
St. Martin: Dave and Bob are going on a fishing trip in the afternoon. We don't have any other plans yet.

Well I had a lot of reading to do to catch up......
OK: Shell: Working around sick people.....and I mean that in a very nice way :teeth: I usually get one every year...normally our whole office does. But my personal feeling on it...if you have a chance I would get one. The shot however takes about 2 weeks to kick in....I got my almost 2 weeks ago...and I had no side effects, did not get sick or anything....so hope this helps.
Got one suitcase packed, I pinned my son down and my signs are done, he will be taking them to the printer on thursday and should have them friday. I think they turned out pretty good.
I am pretty much ready to go...just a couple of small things to buy and thats it.
We are using Happy Limo....I have never used them, but I have already called them twice and changed different locations and pick up times and they have been very nice. I tried fl tours and I just didnt like the man on the other end...he pretty much was telling me he would not pick us up until a certain time and he didnt seem like he wanted to budge on that. He kept saying that you cant get on the ship so we will drop you off around 11am...so I didnt use them.
Well thats about all thats going on now will be back later...

Hi Jan,
Hey lots of great reosrt decorations to see. we go to several every year.
Ok. Grand Floridan has a huge gingerbread house in the lobby and they sell gingerbread items there, plus assorted trees and wreaths. Out in front they have decorations on the lower level you can look down at, really pretty.
The Contemporary always has a display in the level that Chef Mickeys is on, actually near chef mickeys of small decorated gingerbread houses which is fun to see.
The Yacht and beach club has a great gingerbread carousel, that works in the lobby. well worth seeing.
The Boardwalk has a large display in their lobby too.
all the resorts have decorations, those are just our favorites.
If you really want to see a BIG light display and dont mind paying for a days admissions, go to MGM studios after dark!!! The Osborne Family spectacle of lights is there, over 10 million lights!!! That is a display!!!

Hello all fellow banana heads....Cannot believe we are 19 days out from our great cruise....I work in a supermarket in New York and will be flying out on Friday night....leaving on an 8:40 p.m. flight out of Kennedy International....getting into Orlando a little after midnight....we are staying at the Wingate Inn....which is real close to the airport...just wanted an inexpensive room to get a good night sleep and not have to fly out in the morning....so...if anyone has stayed there I would appreciate any info...
My wife and I are truly looking forward to this cruise. Over the past couple of years, we have had some tough times. Just a small background is needed. We had a house fire on July 4, 2004. Unfortunately, we lost our home and our beloved pets. We lived in a hotel for 10 months, and finally moved back into our home last year. After we moved back home(and I must say thank you Lord for good insurance....since our insurance company was great and really took care of us) we adopted a beautiful black lab....he was a spitting image of one of our dogs we lost in the fire. He was just a real good dog, but unfortunately he developed liver cancer and passed away. On the brighter side, we have adopted 2 puppies, a Corgi and another black lab....and as much as they are driving me nuts with all the puppy stuff....digging holes in the backyard....chewing on new furniture....they keep me smiling....sooooooooooooo.....we really are looking forward to sitting back....relaxing and thanking the Lord for another day.....and believe me, when you come so close to dying, since the fire happened during the middle of the night and we were very lucky to get out, you thank him for each day on this earth.
Truly looking forward to a MAGICal cruise with all of you MAGICal people!

Tom, I know what you mean, after being in critical condition 4 times I look at life a lot differently these days, and I dont sweat the small stuff and I am thankful for each and every day!! Even the bad days are better than no days!!
Your puppies will keep you busy!! We adopted an abused dog 4 months ago and she is just a little over 1 year old now. She keeps me really busy and is still cutting some teeth, so we have to watch for the chewing problems too.
We have a sandy patch around our pool deck that she wants to dig in. There are electric wires burried there for the pool and they could kill her if she bites them, so this weekend we are putting down chicken wire over all the sandy areas, bury it in the sand and cover with a thick layer of mulch. Then if she decides to dig again she cant reach the wires!! I was afraid when we were gone on this cruise she would start digging out of boredom. So we are gonna fix it this weekend.
Well they say we have a chance of showers today, but I wont believe it until I see it!! We really need it, so I hope they are right. Gonna be in the low 80's so it will be nice even if it does rain.
I am still working on my last door sign, jsut cant seem to get it to look right. Oh well, I will try again today.

my door signs are all the magnetic sheets I buy at WalMart. When I am done with them I wrap some saran wrap around them and then slide them back into the original packet they came in .
Then lay them at the back of the carry on bag where they lay flat under other things. So far all have made it ok. I think sliding and extra piece of cardboard in the packet would really insure they wont get bent too.

Well it was a rough night last night because DS was up till 1:30am and I was not feeling good. Poor DH was up and he had to go to work. Everyday wehn he gets hom is has the countdown till the cruise!! Today I have Mommy and Me and then I am coming home and relaxing. My sister was mad at me because I did not go down to my Mom's house for her birthday. It made me so mad because for my birthday my sister was in Mexico on Spring Break and she did not even get me a card or gift and plus she doesn't care about hoe her nephew is feeling or me. Well enough about that!! Well I am going to get DS dressed. Talk to you later!!!

Good morning everyone. I am a little scared of Kathy so thought I should add my post to the count LOL.
I am starting to feel the pinch of the cruise coming closer. I feel pretty unorganized. I think I need to finalize my clothes and then will feel alot better. I just want to try everything on and make sure it still fits. I need to buy the pantyhose etc and match up jewellery for semi and formal nights. I also got a pretty cheap 'shrug' at Walmart - I like it and the price was right but I want to change the button so need to find a place with fancy buttons. I also need to pick up some shoes for semi and pirate - found them at Payless just haven't bought yet. I am a little worried about my pirate outfit. The person on ebay is going to be cutting it a little close with the dates so that should leave me stressing to the last minute! :rolleyes: I also need to get DH and DS to try on their outfits to make sure we have everything. I will feel better once some of these things start to fall into place. I think I can sneak a bit of time from work today so might try and make it over to the Bay (dept store up here) to get a few things. And - make a list!!!!!! When in doubt, list it out I always say LOL.
Tom and Marilou - sounds like it has been a rough go of it and I am glad you can have this trip to look forward to and relax! We had a tragedy on the DIs boards a while back (my purple ribbon is in remembrance) and it was a fire caused by leaving their computer on and it overheating. We now turn our computer off whenever not using it. Fire is a big fear of mine! Anyway - on to better things :grouphug:
Lynn hope you are feeling better and Drew gets back to himself quickly. DS had his 4 year immunizations the other week and I was crying with him :rolleyes: Kids really get to ya!

Tom, welcome to the POFC Club (that's Parents of Furry Children!). Bill and I lost our best friend, Sam, last year ... he was a lab mix, 12 years old, but had diabetes and arthritis. The arthritis finally took him, but oh, how we miss him! Not a day goes by that we don't mention his name! And I'm sure Bob will chime in soon as he has a couple of black labs, too. He even posted some puppy pictures on here a while back of a litter they had! Oh, so cute!!!

Wow, I have missed alot in 2 days, On Sunday DH had to take me to the emergency room in the middle of the night. I have been having a cold and on Sunday the coughing was so bad I couldn't breathe,they gave me more meds in the ER and I spent all day yesterday in bed and plan on doing the same today.
Shell, no flu shot for me my doc actually tells me not to take it

I had a dream the other night about the cruise. I was looking at Two Palms on Sunday and saw the waves were pretty rough, so I think that is what influenced it. I dreamed that Lisa and I got to the Port, she saw the waves, and said "I'm not getting on that ship, I'll be sick all week!" Then I woke up, so I have no clue whether or not she ever got on the ship! :confused3

Good mrning everyone, I was trying to catch up from yesterday. I did not get a chance to post.
It is a rainy day here today. Yesterday was great. Bright sunshine :sunny: and warm for this time of year.
We are off to Frankenmuth today. They are famous for their chicken dinners and for the large Christmas store, Brohnners. I think I will hunt for my regional gift today. Frankenmuth is known as Michigans "Little Barvaria" My kids can't wait to go to the Christmas store. I get a free meal in honor of my birthday :) can't beat that!!
Lynn I hope DS is doing ok today after all of those shots :guilty:
Tom I am glad things are going better for you and your wife. I am thankful for each day too! God places storms in our life some times and I think they make us stronger. Have fun with hose puppies.

I bought a bunch of scrapbook stuff and I have some small heavy duty magnetic dots plus a couple of magnetic squares (like you would use on a refrigerator to hold pics). I used to scrapbook so I'm thinking along those lines. Any special tips or ideas you would care to share?
SARAH - care to be stressed out buddies??? I know the cruise is almost here and I KNOW that I have a lot more to do...so why aren't I doing it??? I found out last night that DS's dress slacks don't fit him so I need to go shopping for those now. Other than that DD's clothes and DS's clothes are basically ready to go. Other than that.....ummmm....ummmm....YIKES...I have a long way to go.
I have to take DS to a foot specialist today. He came home from school yesterday complaining of pain in his heel and the bottom of his foot. He's having trouble walking on it. There isn't any swelling, there's nothing stuck in his foot...I don't know what is going on :confused3 . He told me it's been hurting for a few days but he thought it would go away. I hope it's something minor....we've got a ship to get on in a few weeks!

OK, FL residents....I got these directions from mapquest for MCO to the Residence Inn. Can you kindly advise whether you think this is the best way to get there or are there things I should know like rush-hour or construction. We will arrive at MCO around 2pm in the afternoon.
Start out N on Airport Blvd towards S Access Rd - continue to follow Airport Blvd W
Take SR-528-Toll E exit - Exit 1A toward Cocoa/Kennedy Space Centre
Merge onto FL-528 E (portions toll - anyone have any idea how much?? - we can't get US coin up here so I'll have to get some smalls)

Last cruise, I did my door sign on the computer using clip art, a little map of New York with a Pin where i'm from, and including my stateroom number and I forget either first or last name not both. I think it was the -___ wish you a Magical holiday!
This year, I started out on the computer but ended up doing a 12 x 12 scrapbook page with a paper piecing on it, instead. I'm much more comfortable with paper.
What to put on it? What do you want people to know about you? That you're witty, creative, celebrating a birthday, what ever . . . some kind of greeting, perhaps . . .
I see a door sign as being the same thing as the wreath on the door of my home, and the flowers planted outside.
Does that help?

Hello again everyone,
I haven't checked in for a little while. I have had a horrible cold the last week. I still have a little bit hanging on that just won't leave. It's a constant headache and congestion. ugh!
It's just been very crazy. I finally bought some clothes and things for the cruise but I need tons more other stuff. I really don't want to over pack, but I keep thinking of more things I might need. I decided not to get a formal dress for formal night. I just couldn't find one I liked in the price I wanted. So I just bought a nice pair of pants and a couple of dressy tops to go with them. I think it will be fine. I also got my son some dress clothes. He looks too cute.
I think I will work on some door signs tonight. Hopefully, I can get them put together soon. Well, I want to run. Lots to do today, vote, Walmart for magnets and other stuff on my packing list, Bed Bath and Beyond for curtains and a comforter for my new bed, one daughter goes to PE at the YMCA, another to Field Hockey practice and then Martial Arts, pick up some pictures at Costco. Anything I can do for anyone else?
Welcome Tom, I glad you will get to relax and enjoy this cruise. It's been a bit of a rough year for our family, we are really looking forward to this time as well.

Ok, for door signs there is no wrong way to do them. Sometimes I do like Linda and find clip art or a family picture and print it on a magnetic sheet, using the computer then I use stickers that are letters to write, names or dates and such. You can print them too, but I am not good about changing margins on the computer to make it all fit, so i use stickers.
I have also bought tropical and disney stickers and just done a theme with them. example put Castaway Cay across the top of the page and then have mickey with a sand castle and pluto on a lounge chair watching him, with a crab or star fish nearby, then in the air has some sea gulls flying around. It is very simple yet looks really tropical and nice.
I have also cut out pictures of disney characters from magazines and cards and glued them onto the magnetic page. That looked good too.
Some people put their kids pictures on the sign and say something like Johnny's first cruise with Mickey!!! 11/25/06
Or magical memories or when you wish upon a star, or A Magical Vacation
Any caption you want. If your celebrating a birthday or anniversary it is fun to do one telling about that too.
Just do anything that comes to mind, there is no right or wrong, just keep it clean, this is disney after all :lmao:
We always take a little time each day to walk around a different deck looking for door signs, we have seen some really elaborate ones and some very simple ones that kids have made, they were all cute.
One time my oldest grandaughter took a picture of DH asleep on deck 4 with his mouth wide open and put it on the door sign, then she wrote:
Here's my grandpa on deck 4
Oh my how he can SNORE!!
If you see him around the ship,
Please tell him you saw this.
People came up to Greg all week long and said, hey arnt you the guy on the sign?? :rolleyes1 He didnt have a clue what she had done until she took him to see her door. :rotfl2: So you can have a lot of fun with them too. :dance3:

our gd had a group shot taken in the teen club and each kids just asked and they printed up as many as was needed. we couldnt find the picture so we asked and they said they would print as many as needed.
Shutters is closed when we board, so if you want a photographer someone would have to call ahead of time and try to set it up. I know photographers are on board, so they should be able to do the pictures. I really have NO idea how to do that.

Linda, if you can locate one of the pictures for the shirt on this thread, just right-click on it and then click on "Save Picture As" and you can save the graphic. Then you can use it to create the magnets. Or, Tonya could just re-post the design... ;)

We could get a CM to take a picture with one of the digital cameras, and then each person could receive a copy of the jpeg and print in whatever size they want. That is another alternative.

Hello everyone, fellow DIS, this will be my first post. I am momx4,grandx4, husband Greg. I have diligently read these reports but have never actually posted one. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and have thoroughly enjoyed the awesome support and wonderful input all have shared. My wife probably would have preferred I post sooner than this, because she is so excited to meet all of you, however, there has never been a greater procrastinator than me. So, better late then never. Kathy and I are extremely anxious for this cruise, although, Kathy is always extremely excited about cruising, actually, if as long as I keep her in upcoming cruises I have peace in my house.

there is an area where shuttles drop you off right in front of the fence at the port. You could probably stand there until the port opens at 10. there are security people around the area, so even though you are on the road side it should be safe. No seats there . You will have to stand. there is a roof over the area so you will be protected from the weather. ;)

Well today was another loooooong day. I guess I am soooo good at my job and effeciant that I am usually done before lunch, which in turn makes for a very long afternoon. But I am off friday and monday so tuesday next week will keep me busy trying to catch up. But that's fine with me, I prefer being busy.

Nope, sorry Sarah. Our presidential election isn't until 2008. We vote every November for a number of federal, state and local things ... so in Ohio this year, we vote for governor (TG), one US senator, state senators and reps, local offices, and state and local issues.

Bush will get to stay president, but we are voting for National Congress (Representatives) and some Senators. Every Congressional seat is up for election (2 yr term) and 33 Senators are up for election (6 year term). There are also some state governors, representatives and senators as well as other local offices being voted upon.
They call it "mid-term" because it's half-way between presidential elections.
Does this make sense?? I'm sure some political junkies can clarify!
Just to add to what Shell mentioned earlier -- Illinois didn't have any US senators up for election this time, but we voted for US rep., state governor, and a bunch of other state/local offices.
Thanks Shell, but I've already spent all my clothes money and then some. So I'll just do with what I've got.
My dh has been trying to figure out how many pairs of shoes we'll need to take. He says we'll need a whole bag just for shoes. He may be right.

Hi there, Our trip to Frankenmuth was fun. I ate way too much as always and left feeling stuffed :crazy2: We went to Brohnners that was fun. It is a huge store. You could stay there for hours. We went through it rather quick today.

Did someone remember to tell the new girls about the Tiaras? Ladies, if you haven't heard it already, we're (the crazy ones anyway) wearing tiaras. Some of the braver (?) of us are wearing them for embarkation. Everyone else who has one is wearing them for formal night. That's when Mutt is wearing his red high tops, too. Two sources are www.tiaratown.com and www.glitterdiva.com.
I packed a box to mail to the world today - it has lowered my pile considerably. Also tossing in tape, scissors and a return label so when I get ready to leave for the port, I can put in my WDW stuff and drop it at the post office.
Before that, Dimples got some encouragement to go through her wardrobe and select some things for some friends who are, as yet, unclothed. We put those in the box too, for some bears we'll meet after the cruise.
Is it possible to post a poll in a thread? . . . I was thinking about sponsoring a door sign contest to be judged after we get back . . .

TWO weeks from today DH and I are flying to Orlando!! POFQ here we come!!!
Being fairly new to the voting "thing" I didn't vote yesterday. (I registered in time for the 2004 election) I honestly didn't even think NH was having any real candidates because I never really saw any campain stuff. Most of our TV stations are out of Vermont or Upstate New York, so I learned about all of THEIR candidates... (sad but true!)
By the time I realized that NH was voting too, it was too late to find out about the candidates and what they stand for... And like Mutt, I would Vote for a person, not a party.
Any how.... I wonder if it was a little planned on dancing with the stars that they all ended up with the same over all score??

Well I got a little more Christmas shopping done yesterday and I wrapped what I bought. I hope to have all presents in the mail that have to be mailed by friday. Then I can think about family that is here.
I know Lynn is way ahead of us when it comes to shopping, but I am trying to catch up.
Well another week is 1/2 over and we are getting really close now!!
I am making a mini Thanksgiving dinner this year since we are leaving on Friday for Cocoa beach, I dont want a lot of leftovers. Only things I can freeze. So I am having a hard time deciding on dessert. Some dont freeze well or not at all. Maybe we will just have some fancy cookies and ice cream and save the pies for later.
well I am off to let Minnie take me for a walk.

Then I'm going to steal it back from her and wrap it up for Christmas. Otherwise, she will feel like she didn't get anything for Christmas. I also have to buy all her birthday gifts now. If I wait until after Christmas there is nothing left.
Did I tell you that I will have my birthday on the cruise (11/30)? I hadn't really thought of it until the kids mentioned it. Well, I need to go work on those door signs. I didn't get to them yesterday.

These are mid-term elections for Congress, and many states have Governors and other positions up for election. The next Presidential election will be in 2008. :thumbsup2

Excuse me! Dimples and OC are NOT from New Orleans. They are from NEW YORK! And they're both sure New Orleans is a very nice place to be from. After all, it has both lots of food and lots of jazz.
It's funny how quickly an old lady with a bear on her arm can separate the people with a playful sense of humor from the pack. I took Dimples on a trip with my scientists. They have NO sense of play at all, which really surprised me. Now THIS group on the other hand . . .

I think the bear was very cute all dressed up for Halloween and Christmas.
I happen to dress up a lot of stuffed disney characters for each holiday too!!!
They have taken over my dining room.I believe there are 28 of them.
Right now they are still dressed as pirates, but this week i hope to change them into pilgrims and indians. Then as soon as we return from the cruise I will get out the santa and reindeer and elf outfits.
So you ladies are just getting started with one bear each. They need a family too. Try dressing up 28 different critters. :faint:

So for the 2nd night in a row, I had a cruise dream. Sometimes I wonder how the subconcious works. Monday night, Greg and Kathy were in my dream. Last night it was Bob, Lisa, Jan and Dave, plus a few people in green t-shirts running around that I didn't recognize! So the main gist of the dream ... we had to be in line to board the ship by 7 p.m. While walking up, I saw Jan and Dave in line. Once we got to the line, I realized that I forgot my passport. Told Bill to stay in line, I'd run and get it at the cottage that we were sharing with Bob and Lisa. Then while trying to run back, I got those "cement legs" where no matter how hard I run, I'm not moving. Woke up ... don't know if I ever made it or not!
Can't wait to see who makes it tonight!

Kathy, Actually there ARE several other bears - one hand made and larger than me that I won at a women's outdoors weekend; one Steiff, from when we lived in Germany; one I built for Bruce that started this whole building thing & who wears ski gear all year round; one, our granddaughter gave him for Christmas; and OC, who looks like Tinkabelle only he's a boy, because Bruce built him for his birthday this year. BUT they don't all get dressed up. Well, OC wears boy clothes - he got a wet suit for this cruise. And Dimples. . . who has enough clothes to outfit ALL the rest and your 28 as well, even AFTER downsizing her closet!
I've always wanted to visit New Orleans - ever since I read Saratoga Trunk in junior high. It seemed to be the epitome of grace and romance. And with all that good food and jazz, what's not to like? (Diva, :grouphug: I'm sure when PuppyMommy has a chance to think about it, she'll realize she meant SHE didn't like living there . . . )

Grills at Cocoa Beach: Great food and location. We were there last September before a DCL cruise. Show your out of state driver's license and you get a discount on your meal. Hope everyone is feeling better. No sickies on our cruise, although I'll make an exception for some of us!!!
Christmas: Gifts are bought and wrapped. My awful (Dave's description) wall tree is decorated and hung on the wall. I've made reservations at a hotel on the east side of Detoit that has an indoor waterpark for our Christmas gathering with our Michigan kids/grandkids. We're celebrating 12/23-12/24. Can't wait to have fun in the water with my little angels.
This weekend: Heading to Cleveland tomorrow with DD, and 2 grandkids. My DD and her 2.5 year old son will see the Wiggles tomorrow night. On Friday, we head to Morgantown, WV to see my 2 grandkids, DS and DDIL. :bounce: Back home on Sunday.
Jeff: Are you ignoring me????!!!! :confused3 I assume our bet is still on for WVU/Pitt.
Shell: You've been having nightmares about us and DCL!!! I did that last year. Had dreams for about 2 weeks before the cruise. The common theme was not being able to find my birth certificate.

Anyway, I dont do bears...however, I have cement geese...you know about 10-15years ago they were very popular...you buy them clothes and dress them....I have Henrietta and Gracie....Gracie is the baby... I havent changed their outfits for about 5 years now.....I got boared. They just sit there at look at me every night in their same outfits.... :sad2: poor geeseys..... :rotfl2:

Sorry Wendy, one of my bosses is from NO and I tease her as well. Bob is trying to bring me up to speed on how to communicate on the thread without offending.
My boss grew up near the Baptist Seminary (that's where I lived) and it broke my heart to hear her talk about what it looks like now. I still have very dear friends there who feel the same as you; Wouldn't live anywhere else. Hope you can forgive me. :sad1:

Well I got one thing checked off my long list for the cruise -- finally made my hair appointment! I was actually having nightmares that my stylist (beautician?? what do you call them?) wasn't available so I had to go somewhere else and she just hacked away at my hair so it was totally uneven and choppy. :sad2: :sad2: And I think my hair turned orange, too! :crazy:

I try to make the right choice for US, the people. Sometimes I get caught up on the looks though. Some of these guys are real "eye candy" Then I come down to earth and vote issues!

The kids are off from school today and tomorrow for the NJ Teacher's Convention. Those of you that live in Florida know this as "Jersey Week". Basically 3/4 of the state of NJ are at Disney this week!
We are taking the kids away for a couple of nights to our Marriott vacation club. In the off season here in NJ we can get a 2 Bdrm/2 bath villa for $85!!! You can't beat that. The place is only an hour away but it gives us some downtime as a family without outside interference...work, phones, family..etc.

Last night, I wrote the Christmas letter (please don't cringe - it's the only way to keep up with 40 years of friends around the world) and printed the address stickers. Already have the Disney stamps. Everything will go in a folder so when I get the cards on ship, I can just slap them together.
Tonya, thanks for the image, they do print nicely. Saturday when I go to mailboxes, I'll get several sheets printed - I wonder how many families we're up to now. . .
Drat! I definitely WASN't going in the mall again, but that's a good Idea, Kathy. Dimples needs a tiara.
While I'm bustling about with to do lists and errands, my husband is playing with his new ipod, and watching tv. Is it that way in your house too? Do guys thing these things get taken care of by MAGIC?

SHELL - thanks for asking about John. His foot is feeling better now. I took him to a foot specialist the other day but I feel like I was given the complete run around. The first nurse that saw him took x-rays, said nothing was broken and said basically that he pulled the muscle/tendon that runs along the bottom of his foot. No big deal she said. The Dr. then came in, touched his heal in 3 places and said "he has blah blah blah disease". I was like "WHAT?!!!" He went into this long winded explanation about how common it is..blah blah blah...they want him to wear a brace at night (which isn't covered by insurance and would cost me $100)..they want to fit him for orthotics...another $250 out of pocket...and regular visits to the foot Dr. This is the 1st time John has EVER complained about any pain at all. He's a fairly active 7 yr old who recently started breaking boards in karate with his feet. You think maybe he just hurt it a bit? I do....he woke up the next day (Wed. morning) and his heal has been fine ever since. Sorry to rant...probably why I didn't post about it the other day...I was VERY frustrated.
By the way...I don't take it lightly when my kids complain about something...they are generally not sick and they don't really complain much (about physical stuff that it ;) ) I just really feel that in this situation the Dr. was way to quick to jump to a conclusion.

And I am so jealous. I'd give anything to be able to take DD 2 1/2 to the Wiggles Show. DD8 saw them when they were still playing smaller venues and it was way fun for her. DD 2 1/2 likes them even more than DD8 ever did but they are NOT coming to Pittsburgh on this tour. :furious:
Quick question...anyone with kids from ages 6 - 10? I have an almost 8 year old and he would love to get to know your kids.

Jan- Yes I got my gift in Brohnners. I wonder if we picked the same thing?? Chances of that are small!! I hope you have a good time in Cleavland this weekend. My nephew love the wiggles. My kids have watched it, but they are too old for it now. The girls night out on the ship sounds great!!

Passport? I thought we didn't need passports! :confused3 I'm not going on the cruise if we need one...we don't have ours. We thought it was "passport free" until the end of Dec. Our TA told us that.
I need to check into this.

Esther is home sick and I've got the kids. I feel sick also. I do believe mine is mind over matter. I broke down and got that darn flu shot and now I feel sick! I knew it.

Kathy, I have a favor to ask if you go to the world before our cruise could you look for the fast pass holder you can clip to your top shaped like a mickey head, I use them for work. Thanks so much

I will be happy to keep an eye out for them, although I dont think I hav ever seen them before. But since I wasnt really looking for them, I may of just not noticed them.
Do you want to know the price or do you want me to buy you some?? If so, how many would you like??
I will probably go there before the cruise at least once more.
