Count me in the minority, Tonya, I loved the shirts but HATE AND LOATHE the banana. At least the turkey reminded us it's Thanksgiving weekend!
Cheer up -- these nanas won't be dancing! (Well, not until we hit Signals at 1:01!) :lmao: :lmao:

I talked to Ron last Wednesday he was on the way to get his daughter from school. :drive: He just got a promotion and is completely swamped. He is not sure whether or not he will be on the ship with us, but he has his "girlfriend" looking out for us either way. pixiedust: (he has a connection of some sort at Disney). He said he would check in, maybe I should post his cell # and we could all call him. If we did we would drive him to :drinking1 .
Here are some banana's for the fund.

Good evening!      (Sorry Linda! :rolleyes1 )
Boy, that PTO meeting was almost a bust. Not that I'm an expert, but the president might need to brush up on parliamentary procedures and meeting agendas! :sad2: A 30-45 minute ended up taking well over an hour. And what's worse, I don't feel llike a whole lot was accomplished. (and by the way, there were only about 10 people there! ) Good thing I taped DWtS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sooooooo, how did Sara manage to stay on the show??? Up till now, the people voted off have been questionable at times. Although Vivica wasn't at her best last night, she still should've survived. (OMG -- how pathetic do I sound?? I'm actually critiquing the results  :scared1: .)
Don't worry, I don't watch Lost or any of the other "hot" shows!! (I'm slightly embarassed to say I do watch a teenager show called Degrassi, The Next Generation on occasion!  )
Time to wrap it up! Talk to you tomorrow!
Cheri :yay:
P.S. Speaking of missing turkeys -- Runa, are you still out there??? :confused3

Mornin y'all,
Bill, Thanks !!! I was going googoo eyed :crazy2: trying to count
Lynn, yep I was late posting today.
The past few days I have to get Minnie's medicine ready and give it to her, then get my prescription ready and take it, plus all the regular stuff so it has been taking me longer to get to my laptop. I am still up by 5, just not on the computer. :surfweb:
The pictures are soooo cute!! I cant believe he s 5 months old already. It seems like you just announced he had arrived!!!
suppose to be a HOT :sunny: day again, but cooling this weekend. I am tired of the hot weather, so I really hope it will be cooling off soon.

Cheri, Degrassi is another Canadian show - filmed mainly in Toronto. There is a Degrassi street near where we live. Did you ever watch the original?? It is pretty funny as it is around the time we were that age (a bit later) and the styles etc. are really funny.
I am torn on the shirts. I like the babana but also like the post-turkey idea. Could we leave the turkey and turn that guy with the net into a banana? Is that asking too much?? Then we could have both.

Hi! :wave2: I was up real early. Steve had to leave for work at 3 a.m. Then I fell back to sleep and my sister called crying. I could hardly understand her. Seems her dd has chosen to move in with her boyfriend. Boy am I glad those days are over for me. I never had the problems she has had with her child. The bad thing is her d is only 18 and the guy is 25! Now, I ask you, where is this guys head? I know the real answer to that, but you gotta wonder :confused3 And NO, my sister did not want her d with this guy. In fact she took her car away, her phone away, refused to let the guy come over or call the house. Boy, thank you for my two kids! I feel sorry for my sister, this is her only child and she feels her heart is broken. That's what happens when you give some children the world! Hate to say it, but it's true.
Well, LOST. What can you say about that. Let's see... LOST, yes, that's it, LOST. That show really confuses me sometimes. I find it a cross from Planet of the Apes, The Village, the Stephen King movies (saw that)! And boy, are they lost in the Bermuda Triangle? I have been watching since the show started and I'm still LOST. Just when they throw you a small chunk of a bone, they take it away!
Well going to try to get my foot in a shoe today, couldn't yesterday :sad2:
I will check in later,
Oh, almost forgot, kinda of dislike your shirt...I'm Cullen's NANA! ;)

Good Morning Everyone!
Lynn: love those pictures of DS. Keep them coming!
DW and I watched "Friday Night Lights" last night. It was a repeat of the pilot episode. Could be a decent show. Will have to watch more to find out.
We also watched "The Biggest Loser" since they were on a 4 day cruise last night. I think this is the first complete episode I have ever seen of the show. Probably not one we will watch on a regular basis.
Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone!
Tomorrow we are going to Lancaster, PA to a farm that has this amazing corn maze that they do every year. We love going - DH is a huge fan of corn mazes - it's the little things in life that make him happy. It's always a fun day for us when the four of us get COMPLETELY lost in a corn field and spend a couple of hours trying to find our way out. Can you say "quality family time???" :lmao:
Kelly - sorry I missed this post. I could have met you somewhere on Rt. 30 or Rt. 41 and said "Hey!" Hope you had a good time in my neck of the woods.

I can't remember who wrote the part saying that they were near boomers (Sorry, I'm too lazy to check who it was), we live very close to there. Not more than five miles off. I love the Perkins that's near there. Too bad the manager went away. He was a good man. A couple of friends of mine work there.
Hi Josh -
It was me. Your mom said we are very close. We are very close to the restaurant that used to have the airplane sticking out of the side. Do you know where I mean? My kids go to the school just north of you on 41. We've only been to that Perkins once. We stopped a few years ago on the way home from the shore and swear we won't go back. It was just nasty dirty and the service/food were not up to par. Sounds like maybe they made some much needed changes.

JAMIE - I was in tears watching the news today. Me and DH and the kids go out to Lancaster all the time...we absolutely love it. As a matter of fact we were just there on Sat. It breaks my heart to see such a peaceful community going thru something tragic. My heart goes out to everyone in the area. I'm glad you guys are ok.
It really stinks that our kids have to experience these horrible type of events. Like someone said earlier...a fist fight was the biggest happening at my school growing up....my thoughts and prayers are with all of the communities dealing with the tragedies of the past week.
My husband is the mayor of our little town which is the closest borough to the site of the shootings. So, he has been getting emails and phone calls from all over the country offering condolences and prayers for our neighbors. It is just inconceivable and so sad.

He got grounded to his cage...then when I wanted to let him out at bed time. I think he was afraid to come out....so he never got let out....I tried everything...to get him to come out and he woulndt. Guess he didnt like getting yelled at.....bad puppy bad doggy......

Good afternoon Banana Heads    and Linda :teeth: !!!
Can you believe that our computers and phones were down all morning here at work? The entire network crashed and just came up about 15 minutes ago. We were crossing our fingers for maybe a "just go home" day, but that didn't happen. :sad2:
If you're worried about too many banana daquiri's on the cruise, then try a Nutty Banana! Bill had one of these in Canada last summer and they are AWESOME: 99 Bananas Schnapps, Hazelnut Liqueur & Cream ... mmmmmm :woohoo:
On to primetime: Vivica?? Vivica??? She was robbed. Not the best by far but certainly better than Sara! I really gotta look that girl up and see who she is ... :confused3 (Cheri, so nice to know that we can spend the entire cruise critiquing this show :lmao: )

No need to smack him, after all he did count them for me , so it is all better now!!! We are friends again and my eyes are now uncrossed :rotfl2:
Thanks for the offer, I will remember it for future reference, should the occassion arise?? :rolleyes1
Denise,
I'm sure your dogge will forgive you for punshing him by the time you get home. He is like a kid, he is trying to make you feel guilty :guilty: by not coming out of his cage :lmao:
I think Sarah's idea for the shirt is a good one to. Tonya, is this doable??
If not we will be happy with anything, not fussy here at all. Both ideas are really good. :thumbsup2
well I am going to put my feet up for awhile.
Minnie is napping, so now is the time to relax.
took her for ance walk, then a drive to the pharmacy where she was given a doggie treat, then back home. I guess all the excitement wore her out.

Ok I have sent our request to the printer. Lets see what they can so. I can't make any promises but they haven't let us down yet.
Pat I am still waiting to hear whether or not you want shirts. If you will tell me the sizes you need I will order them with or without a committment. I want us to be up over 50 so that we can pay a lower price. If you end up not wanting them I will give them to our servers and cabin person for fun. Just let me know.

Cute pictures Lynn. Do you think your son will like older women? Laura is only 7 months old - two months isn't too bad :thumbsup2 They can have a play date at Flounders and take it from there ;) I can tell you this, he won't find anyone else who is as cute at she is  He must know though, college is first :thumbsup2 That's the law in this family :goodvibes
Kathy, I was thinking, you and I might be the last to post on here before we sail away. We won't be leaving the house until the a.m. of the big day. Won't it be lonely? :confused3
I saw just a wee bit of Biggest Losers last night, kept switching channels between LOST (during the commercials). I'm with you, I don't know about that show. Didn't get to see the cruise part, just the last part when one of the girls called one of the men a :rolleyes1 name. Thought that to be in very poor taste. Don't think I could be as brave as some of them and wear what they wear to weigh in.
Can I have the recipe you made for dinner the other night? Sounds great. (I think that was from TiggerKing)
Tonya, I'm going to pm you later :thumbsup2 There has been BIG discussions going on about the t-shirts in this family. I will contact Stephen this evening and get their final answer and I'll get in touch with you.

Hello Fellow Turkeys and Bananas
Not much going on here. My back is feeling better everyday. :Pinkbounc I may actually try to do a light workout tomorrow. I really HATE not being able to exercise :furious:
I was looking around on the main dis board and it seems like Rachel is the cruise director on the Magic right now. We have had her on both of our trips and I really like her. It's funny, I actually called Don at work to tell him thate Rachel is on the ship right now and probably will be for our cruise. Isn't it funny how much a part of our lives these cruises become?
Not much else to report here. I just want to do my part to keep the post count climbing.

Okie I love survivor too, but I'll have to tape it because its medical night here Grey's Anatomy and ER
Lynn, my dad is with you he is a huge Yankees fan and was not happy today. Can you send some of that cold down here when I got in my car after work today the temp read 102.

We actually leave for WDW on November 17th. I'm gonna miss you guys! (May have to call Kathy to read me the news)
Anybody know anything about the National car place in cocoa beach? Do they have a shuttle? Or should I switch companies when we take our friends back to the airport?

Good Evening - I can't wait to get some of that cool weather here. I'm kind of tired of upper 80's. A bit on the windy side today. They say our weather will cool off this weekend - can't wait.
Kelly, Glad to hear your back is better. I know what you mean about the exercise. I finally got my foot in a shoe and walked on the treadmill. I was able to do 35 mins. with just a wee bit of pain. It was when I took the shoe off that the pain really hit. Must say, the toe is a beautiful rainbow of colors :)
Well, going to watch Survivor. At least I can understand that show and I'm not LOST keeping up with it :rotfl:

Good Evening everyone,
I know you've all missed me so much, but don't dispare, I have returned. I have been spending a lot of time doing some digital scrapbooking. It keeps me busy in the evenings. Once I start I lose track of time and don't get to do much else. I will post a page or two sometime.
We recorded Lost and just finished watching it. Now I'm waiting for my hubby to finish watching CSI so I can watch Greys Anatomy. But wait, a quick update, he forgot to record it for me. So now I'm going to miss the first half hour. I'm actually heart broken.
I have bought nothing at all for the cruise. I had a dream last night that I woke up and it was the last day of the cruise. I was so mad because I slept through the whole thing. I'm sure there is a deep psychological meaning behind it.
Darn I'm still mad about Grey's Anatomy. :sad2:
My best friend's husband is a PR guy at the shipyard where the Wonder is right now. He spend Tuesday touring the ship with the Discovery Channel. He said we could come to the shipyard and see it, (not inside) but I don't really feel like making the drive. We drove by and saw the Magic last year. They have 800 people working on it. He said he got to tour the entire ship and all the "behind the scenes" places. How fun.
Is there a spell check around here anywhere? I'm too tired (and angry) to do it myself.

Good morning to all,
Hey my DH had that same dream about a past cruise. He was so mad he slept through the entire cruise. It was funny to hear him tell about it.
It is early and quiet here this morning.
Just wanted to pop in and say HI and to do my part of keeping the posts coming.

Alright Missy, you just be careful talking about Ms. Sara! Although I am not a watcher of DWtS, I have to look out for one of my own! Sara is one of the top country music stars today, and one of the most beautiful. The funny thing is, she is probably one of only a couple on the show who actually have a career right now! :rotfl2:

Carrie: Welcome back. I also had my first cruise dream on Wed. night. I dreamed we were at the check-in desk and didn't have our passports or birth certificates. We had gotten there at 10:00 a.m., so I was sure I had plenty of time to fly home to Atlanta and get the passports and come right back before the ship left. I woke up before I made the trip home, so I don't know if we made the ship or not! :confused3

Good Morning Everyone!
It's a VERY gloomy day here in NJ. It was really dark this morning when I was waking up DD at 6:35am! It's so hard to get out of bed when it's dark and rainy.
I'm going to attempt Jazzercise today - wish me luck. I will be taking it easy and I have a chiro appt scheduled for today right after so that should help.
Kelly - sorry I missed this post. I could have met you somewhere on Rt. 30 or Rt. 41 and said "Hey!" Hope you had a good time in my neck of the woods.
JAMIE - we are going to Hershey at the end of the month for an overnight stay. We're doing the Halloween in Hershey w/the kids while they still want to take part - DD is turning 11 while we're there and DS is 7. We will probably wind up popping thru Lancaster..it's hard for us not too :) I'll keep you posted.
I'll check in again later!

Bob...Carrie...I've had a couple dreams about the trip already but they were just normal, everyday kinda "walking the deck" dreams...nothing special yet. I have some pretty wacky dreams so I'm sure I'll wind up with one where the Magic is hit by a freak snowstorm or something like that....

Oh it's so rainy and gloomy here. I wanted to stay in bed all day. Instead I ended up getting up very early. I made some Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and my neighbors 3 yo twins came to spend the morning while her older son has some minor surgery. Her kids are very sweet and they keep my younger ones busy so I have time to be on the internet, balance my checkbook, and catch up with some other work.
I tried to install a new wireless rounter for our internet. But my computers keep dropping offline. I want to take it back but I can't find the receipt. It's getting really annoying. Kevin wanted me to buy a better one, but I insisted on the cheaper one. :sad2:
We were supposed to go visit my MIL in NC this weekend. We decided at the last minute to stay home since it was going to rain the entire time. We might drive down and check out the work on the Wonder. :wave2:
We are also going to buy my new washer and dryer. :Pinkbounc I'm so excited. :Pinkbounc My husband bought the ones we have now in 1988, 4 years before we got married. It is a Kenmore and has never had a repair, been shipped across the country and to Hawaii and back again. (My husband and I have never been to Hawaii but our belongings have! ) We won't have it delivered for another couple of weeks because we are getting our floors redone, we're putting in Pergo floors and upgrading our nasty carpet.
It replays against on Fridays at 7 (at least central time) and then you can down load it on abc.com.
Well, I ended up lucking out. For some reason that I can't figure out, the DVR actually recorded the entire episode. So I was extremely happy. :cheer2: Then at the end I heard they were going to replay it tonight, so I would have been OK anyway.

Trying to post a couple of my scrapbook pages. These are 2 of my favorite pages. They were both made with Kits that I bought from digi scrapbook stores. I have a lot more that I've done. I'm going to get them printed at Costco and then I can put them in 12 X 12 scrapbooks.
The first one is from a Homeschool Field Trip last month. The second is of my younger daughter when she was 6 months old.

I'm not trying to be mean, but I find this so funny, I would never think that anyone would not know what red eye gravy is! It's funny how regional we still are, ain't it?
It's a staple of the south. It's a real thin gravy that is used on just about everything. It's made with the juice, after you cook ham. My grandma is from Birmingham and made it for a lot of stuff, from grits to cornbread. It's kind of salty, but not overly so.
I think it could be compared to like an au juise (sp?) sauce, but thinner.
TiggerKing, I reckon we still gotta learn 'em don't we. :thumbsup2

Lots of oldie moives out there.
I am from Oregon, until 6 1/2 years ago when we moved to Florida and I knew what Red Eye Gravy was! Oregon is about as far from the south as you can get in the U.S..

It is a southern thing too!! Very YUMMY!! :goodvibes

Jeff: Red-eye gravy was described to me as follows by a waitress in a downtown Raleigh restaurant (and I quote ... use your best deep southern accent when you read this): "Coffee and ham drippin's" :crazy2: There's nothing gravy about it. It's not thick, it's not tasty. (now watch the southerners draw their swords! :rotfl2: )
Kathy ... OK, weirdest thing eaten. Well, of course, red-eye gravy is definitely up there. In France I had real escargot after a few (read: LOTS) glasses of wine :teeth: . The first sushi I ever tasted was octopus (very chewy, not lots of flavor). Alligator is very tasty, though.

I LOVE liver, when it's not over cooked. With bacon, mashed potatos, smothered onions - ooooooh it's a joy. I wouldn't eat scrapple either, nor tripe. Once I had this great greek easter dish called (phoneticly) Ma-he-retz-u. OMG it was SO GOOD. Then I got the recipe. in short - innards of lamb. never ate it again.
Today, grocery shopping, house cleaning and soup manufacture - we're having souper supper tonight for the neighbors!

Wendy, I love raw oysters!!! Yum yum ... there's a restaurant we've gone to in Cleveland that has an appetizer with about 4 different types ... so good! :goodvibes
Kathy: Rocky Mountain Oysters? Um, no! I don't think so. I know EXACTLY what they are :sad2:
Steak Tartar -- I knew it had a name!! :thumbsup2
And just to gross you out a little more, I always liked having the very tip of the tongue! :lmao: We haven't had either of these for about 20 years (ever since people started worrying about cholesterol), but they taste similar to turkey or chicken giblets.
Speaking of Rocky Mountain Oysters, there's a town near here that has a Turkey Test---- Festival!!! I guess they have a huge turnout! Ick! :crazy2: Denise - It's in Huntley in case you decide to try something new!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm not trying to be mean, but I find this so funny, I would never think that anyone would not know what red eye gravy is! It's funny how regional we still are, ain't it?
It's a staple of the south. It's a real thin gravy that is used on just about everything. It's made with the juice, after you cook ham. My grandma is from Birmingham and made it for a lot of stuff, from grits to cornbread. It's kind of salty, but not overly so.
I think it could be compared to like an au juise (sp?) sauce, but thinner.
TiggerKing, I reckon we still gotta learn 'em don't we. :thumbsup2
Steve
Yes, we still have to teach them northerners what true culture is all about!
Jeff: Red eye gravy, as Steve noted, is made from the drippings of ham or bacon with a little coffee added to it (thus the red eye). It is good for sopping biscuits, putting over grits and other various breakfast foods.

Yuck! I don't do raw food! If I remember correctly, in France they served basically raw ground beef with a raw egg (I could be mistaken about the egg being raw). Ick! Any of you world traveler / food connoisseurs know what this is called?? :confused3 :crazy2:
As far as (cooked) oysters go, I did find a little pearl in an oyster while eating oyster stew! ;)
Cheri
Cheri: That is the traditional way to serve Steak Tartare. It is raw ground beef (high quality though) mixed with some seasonings and then crowned with a raw egg on top. It is really a European thing, not just France.
As far as unusual foods, I had Carpacchio (sp?) in The Netherlands. It is very thin sliced raw beef and served with a balsamic vinaigrette "dressing" to go with it. It was surprisingly good, but I had no idea what I would be getting when I ordered it!

Hi everyone,
just got back from Epcot for the food and wine festival. My tootsies are very tired!!! It was very good, lots of weird foods from other countries, my oldest son met us there which was nice because I dont see him very often.
Kelly, guess we will see you bright and early that morning. At least they have coffee and pastries in the theater for customs for those who have to arrive early. We always seem to have the early time for customs each time we do the eastern.
well I am off to watch the Magic go past the web cam, I will check back later.

Today me and DH went out without DS. He was with my in-laws. He was very good. Me and DH missed DS while we were out. It was very weird to not have him with me becuase he always is ;) ;) !! We went to Applebee's for lunch and to the Mall for Christmas shopping. Since we got home I have been of the sofa resting my back. It has been bothering me so much theses last few days. I think it is from lifting DS's infant car seat in and out of my truck!!
Tomorrow my Mom and Dad and sisters are coming for dinner. My Mom and Dad bought DS a Jeep walker. Well the Yankees are LOSING again :furious: :furious: :furious: !! Have a great night everyone!!! Going to make apple pie to get rid of some more apples!!

Does anyone know what scrapple is? I'm not even sure I spelled it right. Hope you can figure it out. I had a friend who ate it all the time and she tried to get me to try it. I didn't like the looks of it so I refused her offer. When I asked her what it was she said she'd tell me after I tried it. Never tried it so I never found out.
Have a great day :goodvibes We are hoping for cooler weather today.

YEA FOR SCRAPPLE!!!! You're talking my neck of the woods now! Scrapple is best sliced thin, fried crispy and swimming in syrup. Yum. Yum. WOW! 1 month and 2 weeks. That's SO exciting!
The Foxes made our cruise chain last week. We counted the days and made a paper chain with that number of links. On each link we wrote something that we're looking forward to on the cruise. Little and big things like Mickey Bars, Wake Up Call from Mickey, Palo, Rasul (although my kids have no idea what THAT is! :confused3 ), decorating the door, etc. Then, each morning, we tear off a link. It's fun to see the size of the chain decrease.
I am throwing more things on "the pile" as summer clothes are slowly weeded from drawers and closets. Did the Wal-Mart trip and bought new toiletries so there's no last minute packing. We're leaving first thing in the a.m. after Thanksgiving so there won't be any time for that. I'm tempted to buy new unmentionables for everyone too so I can have the bags ready to go the weekend before.
Ladies, have you figured out formal night? How dressy is everyone getting? I hate to wear the same dress I did last cruise because our pictures will look the same! Our stores don't have the holiday dresses out yet and the summer leftovers are really picked over. I can't find a thing!

I'm here Kathy ... barely :headache: some kind of front must be coming through and messing with our sinuses for the past couple of days. Oh and we just saw the extended forecast and the "S" word was mentioned for Friday  . I'm just not ready for this!
Yesterday ended up being busier than expected ... lunch with Bill's brother (he was in from NJ), dinner with my sister, visited a kennel for Guido, but instead found the PERFECT pet sitter! She's actually a vet tech and has been for nearly 20 years. Both she and the kennel said with him being so old, it would be better to keep him in his own environment at home. So now I need to sit down make a spreadsheet of visits during the week, call in a few favors from friends and family for additional visits, so I'm sure the BABY is taken care of properly! Jamie,
Maybe if you cant find a new dress you could find a jacket or nice scarf to wear with it so it will look different in the picture. I often just add a jacket to change the look of the same dress when needed.
Shell,
we are looking for a house pet sitter too. I was told with Minnie having been abused she really should stay in her own home, which I had thought about anyway. it is so much less stresdful for my baby. She is spoiled too!! :cloud9:
I have talked to a couple of them, but we also know someone about 10 houses away who has a 10 year old son who loves to pet her when we walk, we are hoping he will come by for extra play time after school with her. Of course we will pay him, that would give her extra paly time besides the sitter.
I feel so guilty :guilty: about leaving her, she is use to having me here all day with her, so it is very lonely for her. I think I will have them leave a radio or tv on during the day too so she can hear voices. :happytv:
My Dh says I am more protective of her than I was the kids when they were babies :rotfl2: Last time our DS was here with her, but he is crusing too, so I have to hire someone to come in.
gotta run, :moped: still havnt made it to walmart, wound up taking minnie for awalk while DH scrubbed the floor. It still had stuff from the construction of the house stuck here and there that the cleaners never got up, so today he decided to get it up. His knees are going to be killing him when he is done!!
But I do love him for it!!! Guess I'd better fix him a good dinner tonight. :stir:

Hey,
Finding a pet-sitter is a very hard thing to do. I used to watch my Mom's dog when she went away because he is also too old to be in a kennel for a long period of time. Since I have the baby this past May I wasn't able to babysit for them so they hired a professional dog-sitter. He sleep on the flor with the dog to make him feel comfortable. As for our cat Minnie :cat: :cat: we take her to my brother in-laws house to babysit. My niece loves to play with her so it will keep the cat and her busy for 9 days!! I don't want to put her in a kennel because I don't feel like she is being taking good care of. I know at my brother-in-laws house she is good hands while I am away!!! She is also very stubborn when we go away and the 1st few days she is usually going in the washing machine, climbing the curtains and then she settles down. But she is an angel at home :cat: :cat: !!!!

Thanks for the tip about the weather channel, I never would of thought of that, but you are right, the voices are calm and relaxed. i will tune it in for her. Thanks. :goodvibes
Cheri,
We love going to all the small town festivals we can find, however after a unamious vote we decided to skip the Turkey Privates festival this year :lmao:
Gee ladies I feel I am missing something here, I dont think I have a Kohls near me, I've never been to one.
guess I'd better ask Pat, she has lived in this area a lot longer than me.
Pat, do we have a Kohls near us??? I saw one down Hwy 27 past Clermont I think, but that is way to far to go for me.
Lynn,
you must be about done with your Christmas shopping. You have gone lots of times the past few weeks. I have started, but nowhere near done yet.
I did buy some doggie bandanas at Epcot with Pluto ont hem. They are themed for different holidays and a birthday. I got large thinking I could put one around my hair when Minnie wore hers, but it is too small for me :sad2:
DH thought I was  to want to wear matching bandanas with Minnie.
I am going to try and find some elastic I can sew onto the velcro on them and see if I cant get it to work that way. Other moms have matching outfits with their babies, so why not me??? :rotfl2:

Kathy-mom is at church, I'm stuck at work so I'll answer for her. There is no Kohl's in this area. The closest one is in Clermont.
I did want to ask you a question though, since you went to EPCOT yesterday, did you see anyone winning anything for the Year of a Million Dreams. When we went for Cullens b'day on the 4th I didn't see anything, turns out that was the morning that the family got to open the Magic Kingdom by themselves.
Woogal-Mutt, I have to tell you, as someone who has never seen snow, and wears shorts on Christmas day, that I am a little jealous. Just once I'd like to wake up and see snow on Christmas day, before I went out and tested my new Red Rider Carbine Action 200 Shot Range Model Air Rifle.

Steve,
I didnt see anyone, but I have heard of different things that have bwen going on. My DS works at a resort and the other day a prize patrol showed up and gave away a bunch of nice hand towels and then quickly disappeared again.
These people travel all over, everyday and just stop at random.
Even the cast members do not know when or where the prize partol will appear.
Thanks for the heads up on Kohls i didn't think I had seen one near us.

Any kids on that late dinner linking? I'd hate for my 2 to be the only ones. Not only would they be bored but I think the grownups wouldn't be too excited either. C'mon Late Diners with Kids...Join us!
Hi, I'm not too sure about "linked" but we have the late dinner also. Stephen (I call him that, you know him as Steve, that's his dad's name too.) and Esther have three kids  (you poor people ;) ) How do we link up with each other? I believe that Shell sent me an email about that but I thought Stephen took care of it. I'll have to check and see.
This first time cruise stuff is a bit confusing for me: Formal, informal, wear this, don't wear that :confused3
This old dog is trying hard to learn how to jump through hoops :rotfl:
Where do we go to link up with everyone?

I wish I had Christmas shopping to do! My kids are grown and money is one size fits all, when you're that age. My husband buys whatever he wants, and i'm either getting a new AP or a 10 day park hopper. I love the shopping and wrapping etc especially for my friends. I can always find something that would be perfect for them.
We went out and started yard clean up this morning. It's pretty chilly and we will have tons of leaves to process when they fall. I put in 50 daffodil bulbs (the only things the deer and squirrels won't eat. )

Kathy: Your room sounds really nice and your right I would probably love it...so you just may have a winter quest this year.... :)
Lynn, I did all my paper work on-line a couple of weeks ago....not that I'm excited or anything. But its all completed. :Pinkbounc
About Christmas shopping have not even started nor even thought about it. The only thing I was thinking about was about my Christmas decorations and I have come the conclusion that I may only put my tree up this year and forget the rest. Since my DD wont be home this year, it will be just Myself, Wally, DS and my dad.
Linda, I'm like you, not much shopping...money the gift that keeps giving, well until it runs out.... :rotfl: I'm hoping to pick DD up some jewelry on the islands...
Gotta go, making soup, then I'm making a carrot cake for work tomorrow....so i better get busy....I also have to start dinner....wow, I'm exhausted and not even half way done yet.. :sad2:

Yep, did mine a few weeks ago, had a lot to worry about...since we had to get Stacey's father to approve her going out of the country. He can be a jerk :furious:
Also had to get familiar with what would be required since Stacey is technically traveling with my parents, I wanted to get on there and see how DCL had her listed.

I think Lucinda posted she'd be without a computer for a week or some such thing. that was quite a few pages ago.
Surfed the internet and baked a cake this afternoon. Oh, and organized Dimple's closet (she's my teddy bear). Bruce always joked she had more clothes than he does. Well . . . she does. Good evening everyone!
We had a relatively uneventful day. It was absolutely gorgeous here today, so DH & I sat outside and read and watched DD play during the afternoon. :cool1:
We've had no mention of the "S word" yet -- only the "F word" (luckily not "THE word, the big one, the queen mother of dirty words, the F dash-dash-dash word!") -- "FROST"! :rotfl2:
Lynn -- I used to be a big GH fan, but haven't watched in a long time. Tried watching when they were bringing back the characters from the 80's, but never really had time even though we do get SoapNet. Oh well, one less thing to obsess about!
Haven't started Christmas shopping yet, but I've thought about it! :thumbsup2 Our families still haven't decided if we're exchanging gifts with everyone, drawing names, or getting gifts for kids only. No sense in getting out there too soon! :rotfl:
Better wrap this up -- one load of laundry left to hang / fold, then off to bed!
Talk to you all tomorrow!

Friday night, we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant in Detroit with a bunch of friends. Great fun and great margaritas. :woohoo:
Our 2.5 yo Sean and 3 month old Samie were at our house Saturday and Sunday. Their parents went to Game 4 of the playoffs and saw the Tigers send the Yankees home to fire their coach. Go Tigers!!! :cheer2:
We dropped off the kids late yesterday afternoon and headed to Outback, where I bought 2 gift certs for Christmas. My Christmas shopping is almost done! I'll have to check out the sales at Kohls, although I don't really need anything from there. But, I may find something for myself.
I love all the baby pics! I still can't figure out how to download using Photobucket. I'll have to work on that soon so I can show off my little angels.
As for weird foods, I'm in the minority on this thread -- I am not adventuresome with food. I was raised with lots of Italian food -- mainly pasta.
Oh Jeff -- speaking of Italian, I knew there was a reason I liked you!! We're both Italian!!! My grandparents were from a region just south of Rome. By the way, when they immigrated from Italy, they settled in New Castle, PA. And, please don't remind me of the MSU-U of M game. How dismal was that???
Please don't mention the S___ word!!!! We had beautiful fall weather in mid-Michigan this weekend. The fall color season hasn't peaked yet, but it's starting. I do hope it S____s on Thanksgiving so I can really, really appreciate Florida weather on Friday.
Have a great day everyone.

So have you ever had it?? When I think raw eggs, I think of Rocky!!!! :rotfl:
I never had the traditional version. I couldn't bring myself to try it. The closest I came was one hotel restaurant in the Netherlands always brought out little complimentary appetizers for every meal, and one was steak tartare. It was in a small puff pastry shell, so you honestly could not taste the raw meat, so I can't offer an opinion on it.

Mutt: They hated me in Detroit last year. I worked Mon - Thur in Detroit from mid-January until the end of March. I was loving the snow. I would sit there and look out the window or play in the hotel parking lot. Okay, now that I have caught up on the 5 pages I missed over the weekend. It was a rough weekend for DW and I. Don't want to put a downer on the thread, but we had 2 very good friends killed in a small plane crash on Friday. A very precious couple we knew from church. They will be sorely missed. :sad1:
As for the up side, my GT Yellow Jackets pulled out a great come from behind win on Saturday. The game was a good escape from the events of Friday.
Sunday was a VERY busy day at church. DW and I teach a single adult Sunday School class, so we normally go out to lunch with them after church and then we have to be back in the afternoon for choir practice (no, I will NOT sing for you on the boat!).
Today begins another week on the bench, so I will enjoy it while I can. After this week, I will be on the road for at least 2 weeks in a row, and possibly a third week where I will go to Texas.
Have an awesome Monday everyone!

Good morning, Banana Heads
First off, I think that our Banana count goals are way too easy if we're already over 6,000. So let's go for ... mmmm .... 10,000 by the cruise! I think we can DO IT!
Bob, Steve et al: SNOW IS NOT FUN! Yes, yes ... it's pretty the first couple of times each year when it doesn't stick to the roads and you can actually drive. And believe it or not (for those Christmas Story fans), the prettiest snow is always the one that is newly fallen on Christmas morning. Especially if the road crews are out cleaning it up :rotfl2: . However, the first time it takes you 4.5 hours to drive home from work (a 23 mile drive, mind you), you will curse like a sailor and swear you're moving to ... like ... Georgia or Florida.
Jan, the family of Bill's best friend (also Italian) is in New Castle, PA. Small world, huh? My grandpa was from Stefanaconi, Italy, which is a small village southeast of Naples in Calabria. My grandmother was from Pettorano, Italy, which is due east of Rome. I have been able to find documentation for both of them on the arrival in the U.S. on ellisisland.org. The site has the original ship manifests scanned for each passenger. Very cool.
Hey folks ... tired of merely dreaming about the cruise? There are NEW videos links on the DIS! Look above, click on Photos/Videos, and you'll see links for new videos of Cookies BBQ (Castaway Cay), Water Activities (Castaway Cay), Clubs & Shows (Wonder), Brunch at Palo (Magic).

I agree completely about the snow. I actually moved to Orange County, CA for a couple of years after I finished graduate school. And then came back to Pittsburgh. What's up with that? Turns out a happy story as I met my DW here...and there is nowhere I'd rather raise kids than in our community. Now if we can just find a way to stop the snow and cold from coming here... Whatever happened to global warming, Mr. Gore? :rotfl2:
Jan & Shell - My mom's family was from Florence and they have not been traceable to Ellis Island because they didn't come here soon enough to go that route. I was at Ellis Island a couple of years ago and tried to trace all kinds of folks but it seems all of our famiies (including my DW Greek parents) all came over too late or a different "route" to get counted among the Ellis Islanders.
I'm in a bit of a lull waiting for info from a bunch of sources to move forward with some projects. Just wish the banks were open today coz it'd be the perfect day to spend time cleaning up all the mess we made when we switched banks a couple weeks ago. Oh well. I guess I'll head to the gym instead.
Happy Monday everyone.

Hi,
Boy we have perfect weather today. There is no noticable humidity, a slight breeze, 80 degrees, clear blue skies!!!!
we have the S word here too, but it's SUNBURN!!
I took Minnie out for an early walk and it was so nice and she was so good that when we got back home , I took her for a 5 minute drive to a tiny park and took her on the walking trail there. It was her first time on a walk out of her neighborhood. She loved it!! She was so excited. She pulled alittle at first, which I expected, but she was soon walking as she should.
Then we met a man with a toy poodle out walking. we walked about 30 minutes, then came back home.
It was still so nice I went outside and we sat on the loung chair and took a nap. :goodvibes
So I never got to Bealls as I wanted , but maybe later. It was just too nice to be inside today.
Shell,
10,000  Boy you are ambitious, but i agree, we can make it if we try!!! :woohoo:
I hope you know after counting all of those  I will probably have night mares about  for months after the cruise :rotfl2:

Bob, thanks so much for using "northern speak" in your posts so that I completely understand what you're saying! You know, the US is just one big melting pot, and since you're being so darn conscientous about making sure that we northerners feel comfortable, I feel it's only fair that to return the favor. As such, I've been doing a little studying-up on "southern speak", so that when we-all meet y'all, there will be no misunderstandings. Here's what I have so far:
BARD - (verb) - Past tense of the infinitive "to borrow."
JAWJUH - (noun) - The State north of Florida. Capitol is Lanner.
SEED - (verb) - past tense of "to see".
How am I doing so far? :lmao:

Well, being the uneducated northerner that you are, there were of course several that you forgot:
WidjaDidja - (dependent clause) - A question, as in "You didn't bring your suitcase widjadidja?".
Tar - (noun) - The round, rubber obect on which a vehicle rides.
Tarred - (adjective) - The physical state of exhaustion, as in "I sure am tarred after going snorkeling."
European - (verb contraction) - to be in the process of going #1 in the bathroom

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is having a great day. I am so excited. I got tagged and I totally did not expect it.
Things at home are pretty much the same. I do not know what to do. My Dh thinks she has ADD or ADHD. I do not think that is the problem. I think she is just having a hard time adjusting to the move. I wish she would talk about it.
Hope you all have a great day.

LUCINDA - Congrats on the tag! That's really cool :cool1: I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers.
TONYA - I LOVE the shirt!!!! :Pinkbounc
I was MIA again this weekend...our Church is hosting a pumpkin patch for the 3rd year in a row and on Sat. afternoon we had over 1200 pumpkins delivered! Imagine what THAT looks like in the back of an 18-wheeler :) My Jazzercise class just moved to a new location so we celebrated our Grand re-opening on Sat as well. Besides all of that we are getting ready to have a garage sale in 2 weeks so we are prepping for that.
DH is traveling until Wed. so it's just me and the kids for a couple of days. I will be sufficiently exhausted by the time he gets back. For one, I don't sleep well at all when he's away (yes, even after almost 13 years of marriage  ) and two because I get to be the sole parent running kiddos here and there.
See you later-

Hello all,
I have a few minutes and thought I'd check in and say hello. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours went pretty well. I was extra rainy for about half of it.
I ordered a new washer and dryer to be delivered next week. I can't even tell you how excited I am about that. They are not the fancy ones I really wanted, but they are nice front loaders. Unfortunately, my laundry room doubles as my pantry. So I had to find ones that would fit properly. But it's just as well since I probably would have paid several more for the others. My new floors are going to be installed next week too. And sometime soon after that, I get a new back door and a set of french doors in the foyer/living room doorway. And hopefully, new bedroom furniture before we leave. I hope we have some money left to spend on the cruise. :p
I do need to pack up several rooms in my house before they start on the floors. I should probably be doing that now, but wanted to read up on the cruise some more. Oh man the Schwans man is here so I need to run.

I love the Southern talk going on here. It makes me feel like I'm at my MIL's dinner table when her family was visiting.
Lucinda - I am wondering - does your d's teachers notice any change? I really hope things go better for you. Having to deal with your in-laws illness, and a child that is confusing you, can be very difficult for a person to cope with. I hope you have someone who is close to you that you can talk to.

Down here in the south everything is Coke, even if it's a Pepsi it's still a Coke! At least it is around here in my neck of the woods. Guess because Coke is based out of Atlanta.
(See Wendy's post above, looks like we posted at the same time!)
One other thing we say a lot is fixin. I'm fixin to go eat, or I'm fixin to take care of this or that. A guy I work with is from Maryland, and when I say fixin to do something, he says you're what?

See, that is another mistake. Geez, we have a long way to go with you! You don't buy a pop, you buy a coke. Coke is a generic term. You ask someone, "Do you want a coke?" and when they say "Yes", you ask them what kind! Of course, in the old south this was referred to as Sodie Water!

Coke was started in Atlanta. Pepsie was started in Winston-Salem, NC, but then they outgrew their raising and moved up north!
Steve, I have a friend who had a boss who used to give him a hard time about saying "Fixing to do something". He told his boss one day to look up the word fixing in the dictionary and tell him the meaning. His boss said it means to prepare. So, his boss never made another comment after that little bit of "edumacation".

Good Evening Nana Heads!!!
Lots of things to mention --
1. It was a beautiful day in mid-Michigan. Mother Nature is getting us ready for snow on Thursday. Of course, we'll get flakes that turn into rain, and people panic about forgetting how to drive in snow or never having driven in snow, but we'll get through it. My drive to work is a mere 12 miles and it's on a 4 lane road with few lights.
2. Shell and Jeff -- My grandparents were from the Lazio region, the "capital" is Frosinone, the town is Settefrati. It's about an hour's drive south of Rome. For all you WWII history buffs, Monte Casino is in this region. My daughter and I found their passage through the Ellis Island website after much difficulty as their last name was misspelled on the webiste, but spelled correctly on the ship's manifest - their last name was Vitti. I bought the ship's manifest and photo of the ship (I had both framed through the Ellis Island website). My daughter also bought a plaque in my grandfather's name. I want to get to NY to see it in person.
Mutt and Carrie -- We have relatives in the Youngstown area, as well as Sharon and New Castle, PA.
3. Bob, sorry to hear about your friends' tragic death.
4. Lynn, I love the pics, as usual!
5. Any Ohio State fans planning to travel to East Lansing this Saturday?
6. I'll be in Columbus, OH this weekend. My son is in the annual marathon in downtown Columbus. I'll be cheering him on and enjoying the weekend with my 2 WV grandchildren.
7. Tonya - I love the shirts. I have to get mine hemmed when it arrives as t-shirts are always too long on me. I also have a POC shirt to get hemmed before the cruise.
8. Cindylu -- Agan, big :grouphug: to you and your daughter. I can't imagine the stress you are dealing with.
9. Bob, will you be in Detroit this winter? Dave and I would love to meet up with you. Dave drives to a Detroit western suburb when he works -- He's been laid off for 2 weeks thanks to his employer, Ford Motor.
10. Pat and Kathy -- have a fun day tomorrow! It's fun to meet fellow DISers. We've become friends with DISers who live about 2 hours north of us (glindamood). She and DH just returned from the 11 day cruise.
11. In Michigan, we say pop. I know I'm in the south when I have to ask for unsweetened tea.
12. Dave and I finished our Christmas shopping tonight!!! :bounce: Our last stop was Toysrus and I got one more thing for each of our 6 grandkids.

Morning,
Regarding Dinner or Supper, Once when we were in the Promenade lounge listening to music there was a large family group ( 30 people) dancing and having a good time waiting for their dinner time.
As they got ready to leave, Tommie ( the entertainer) said, thanks for coming to see us and have a good dinner. You would have to see this to appreciate it, but all of them at the same time, turned and yelled back, IT'S NOT DINNER ,IT'S SUPPER!!!!!!
Everyone sitting in there and walking by really cracked up.
At our house we said both dinner and supper. dad grew up on a farm in Oregon and said supper, mom grew up mostly in Oklahoma and she said dinner most of the time.
Me , I just say come and get it!! Everyone knew what I meant.
Well this morning I am goign to meet Pat at walmart, maybe we will buy out the store with stuff for the cruise ?? I am looking forward to meeting her, we live really close to each other.
It is cool enough to actually open up the windows this morning. I love doing that.
Ok, I have a question for all the dog owners!!
I need some ideas. Minnie has decided to dig in the sandy soil around our pool enclosure. It is about a 2 foot wide strip where it is sandy and bark mulch all around the enclosure. She has dug clear down to the electircal parts to the pool, which if she bites could kill her. Plus she has dug other places too. Only in this sandy soil, NEVER in the yard.
I tried putting red pepper there so maybe it wouldnt smell good to her, but she liked it?? She is a bit  sometimes.
I am looking for ideas to break her of this, before she gets herself electricuted. yes we have spanked and scolded too. we have thougth about putting small plants there or patio stones but that is very expensive to do and alot of work. will do if we have to. But if any of you have any other ideas, please let me know. Feel free to PM me.
I am going to Petco today and see if they have abook with ideas in it.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

How about the little flying insects that "light up"?

Lucinda -- Hang in there with DD. :grouphug: :grouphug: Someone else had mentioned checking with teachers or other people who spend time with her to see if they notice the changes as well. I agree. It is a very stressful time for your family, and you factor in general girl-stuff at this age, it can be tough! My kindergartener has already told me that EVERYONE in her class gets their clothes at the Gap, and that NO other girls wear their hair in a ponytail. (She would've been able to wear it down until she gave herself a haircut a few weeks ago! Now I have to pull it into a skinny ponytail and use barettes to clip back the little whisps. :sad2: :sad2: )
I also remember you mentioning something about certain, ah, undergarments at her age.

Every time I'm in the kids' clothing department in any store, I notice all these bras -- and they're not just the little basic training bras like when were young (little triangles attached to elastic straps) -- these are like full-blown things with padding and the whole nine-yards! I always have to do a double-take to make sure I'm still in the right department! So right next to the socks and tights for my little 5YO are all these other things that seem a little out of place! Has anyone else noticed this????
**********OK, guys, it's safe again! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ******
OK, now I really have to get going! I'll touch base in a while to tell you about the wonderful bargains I found yesterday! :cool1:

BTW -- I say skunk, firefly, and water fountain.

Good morning Banana Heads
This is getting to be way too funny ... OK, Bill and I discussed the dinner/supper thing last night trying to figure out what we say. We came to the conclusion that supper is when we cook at home, but we go out for dinner. We say "bag", I think it's the New Englanders that say "sack". Also, skunk (what else is it called?), lightening bug and water fountain; freezer and sucker. Cheri, got any more?!
Pat and Kathy: Have fun today!!! I'm jealous that you get to meet a fellow cruiser face-to-face!! We'll need all the gory details when you get back!
Lastly, for the Southerners, please learn that Iced Tea should always be served UNsweetened!!! :lmao:
Have a great day!

Thanks to everyone for the Thanksgiving wishes....it was yesterday. I am still feeling slightly 'Turkefied'. All is well here - got a new assignment this morning so that is good. It is going to be really busy though, so I am a little worried about my DIS time lol. Well...gotta run and get going but wanted to pop in and say hello. Love the shirt design and REALLY looking forwaard to the cruise!!!!!!!!!

I have to tell you guys something funny, I thought you guys were joking when you said you knew you were in the south when you specified UNSWEET tea, I really didn't know that people drank tea other than sweetened. I thought when they asked you at restaraunts for sweet or unsweet it was dietary reasons! I didn't think people preferred it that way.:lmao:
I guess I need to get out(of Florida) more!
Where are our Canadian friends on this discussion, that should be real interesting.

OK, here's my homework:
In PA, we say soda, lollipops, lightning bugs, water fountain, skunk and we don't fix to do anything. We say things are "all" like..."Mom, I have to eat my cereal and the milk is all." (translation: finished) We don't visit the beach, we "go down the shore."
So, what does everyone call that big sandwich with meats, cheese, lettuce, and oil...a sub, submarine, hoagie, hero? We eat subs here in PA. And Scrapple is nothing like Spam - spam is more of a "ham" base flavor and I just can't even describe what Scrapple is. It's not as "pressed" or formed as Spam is. Sort of a mushy texture inside.
And, speaking of food that is just wrong...don't, I repeat DON'T, order the so-called California on the Magic. Since when does sushi get rolled in a veggie wrap? NAAAAAASSSSSTYYYY! :crazy2:
Well, I am so proud that I did more packing yesterday and have a nice sized pile going on. I need to get dh's tux to the cleaner and work on our door decorations. I went to Dollar Tree in search of Disney Window Clingies and they didn't have any. Only Barbie and Spiderman.
I'm glad there are so many kids linked for late dining. Us Foxes are excited to meet everyone.
Here are a few for the cause...

Oops. Forgot to mention that when I buy groceries for supper, I bring them home in bags. When shopping at the store, I use a cart (not a buggy...that's what our Amish friends drive)
Last night, DH made us some Tshirts for pirate night. He went to Michael's and bought some iron on transfers and printed some images from the POC2 movie. DS's tshirt shows Johnny running on the beach with the natives chasing him and it says, "We have to wait for Jack. Oh on second thought, nevermind." DD's shows a picture of Johnny dressed up like the Tribal King and her shirt says "we have to find you a girl, mate." and DH's just has the big POC logo on the front. But I must say, mine is the best and most appropriate. It has the prettiest picture of Jack and the words "Here she comes...Hide the Rum!" pirate: :drinking1 They're very easy to do and look great. The only thing is I'll have to hand wash them.

Im glad everyone is happy with the design of the t-shirts. I would ask them to put in a hidden mickey, but I've asked SO MUCH of them already. I will be placing the order on Friday. I'm looking forward to seeing them too.
We have started a cool down here in Missouri. I think the hi today is in the 60's. It makes me want to be in the Islands at least there will be sun. Only 45 days until we are on the cruise. Slightly less until they unchain me from my desk.
Can anyone give me the name and the number to the lady that does the baskets? And does she also do the banners for Birthdays? My mom wants the room decorated for Hunter's birthday so that when he walks in he remembers its his birthday. (yah right, he's 10, he knows the # of days until his birthday, same as the # of days until the cruise).
I hope you all have a great day and a better tomorrow.
Here are some for the fund.:banana::banana::banana::banana:

See, now you are getting into an area you don't wanna go. This will quickly place you in the status of personna non grata on my list!
In the 2005 session of our general assembly in Georgia, one representative actually proposed a bill (as a joke) that would require any restaurant that served tea to serve sweet tea. It outlined that the tea must be brewed, and must be sweetened while still warm. Although it was a joke that came from him going to a restaurant and not be able to get sweet tea, it almost got enough real support to get passed. Of course, the name of the restaurant was never mentioned, or they would have been out of business in a hurry.
Words: I have heard the term "pole cat" before, but it always referred to a mountain lion. We call them skunks, firefly or lightening bugs (interchangable) and water fountains.
As for potted meat, it is a canned luncheon meat made by Hormel. The best way to describe it is a spreadable version of SPAM. It is normally eaten on crackers.

The name of the company is The Perfect Gift and owned by Shirley Nelson and her husband. The web site is

I don't know if she does the banners, but she will definitely be able to fix you up!

I have a question for you all...
Do you ask the lady for change? OR Do you ax the lady for change?
Which is it ASK or AX? :confused3
How great is Kathy! You guys are in for a treat. She is very friendly.
We walked around Wal-Mart and sat and talked for about an hour. It was really nice meeting in person.

Howdy all,
Pat, glad to see you made it home ok. good luck with the signs!! :goodvibes
Everyone be warned:
I think Pat and I could talk your ears off without taking a breath!!! :chat: Pat is a great lady and I can tell from talking :hyper2: to her that she is going to have an AWESOME time on the cruise!!!
Ok we say firefly, fountain, skunk.
My dad loved skunks!! As a kid he would catch them and put under the school house :sad2: late on a sunday and guess what??? School would be cancelled on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday etc .... you get the idea.
If they wanted more time off they would drop it inside the school house for the weekend!! :rotfl2:
Beside foods I have noticed different parts of the country also have their own sayings, such as:
That's the way the cookie crumbles.
He was more nervous than a cat in a room full of rockin chairs.
Anybody got any good sayings?? :confused3
well got to have lunch, I'll check back soon to see whats happening here,
keep up all the great posting, we're gonna make our goal!!!! :woohoo:

Oh my! Around here, if you ask for tea, it comes hot, in a cup!
We use a grocery cart and bag them at the end. It's skunk, lightening bug, and water fountain. ASK the lady for change. I forgot the rest. Oh Subs! But right next door in Massachusetts, we used to have to order grinders. And over there, a milkshake is a frappe.

hmmm ... I use a cart at the grocery, we eat subs or heroes (depends on where we're getting them from!), and we ASK for things (you hit on my pet peeve there, Pat) ...
... and our iced tea is UNSWEETENED :lmao: .
Steve, honestly honey, we need to get you out of Florida soon! Snow, proper iced tea, real gravy ... we have it all up here! :rotfl2: (Are you exaggerating when you say you've never seen snow?)
Jamie, you cracked me up with the "Here she comes...Hide the Rum!" :rotfl:

I forgot to answer some quiz questions!
We use a grocery cart, the young man, lady or older gentlemen bag our groceries for us. When asked if we desire paper or plastic I usually have to think if it's garbage day - paper is used for cleaning out the refrigerator! - But most of the time I get plastic.
We have subs here, along with our SODA or SWEET TEA :rotfl:
And we live right off the four lane, which happens to be known as US HWY 441 to you Northerners.
Can I use Disney characters on my door sign? Will that be a problem due to copy right laws? :confused3

Ok Shell,
you'd hear about it sooner or later.
Immediately after I went through the food door at wal mart I hear a lady call my name, I turned around just in time to have a big bear hug put on me, :furious: :furious: i hugged back as hard as I could, but couldnt break free. :goodvibes
As her arms pulled away she yanked my long hair, :duck: so in defense i stomped on her left foot where she had claimed to of broken her toe!!! :teeth:
Imagine the look on my face when It wasnt Pat, it was someone else who was calling a different kathy. :guilty:
After i composed myself the real Pat appeared, she was very friendly and helped me "Lift" I mean buy a few pieces of clothing for the cruise and some magnetic sheets for her door signs. :rolleyes1
We made a good pair, we may go into business together after today. We think a lot alike. :crazy2:
Then we decided to hog one of the benches so the old people couldnt sit there until we were ready to leave. popcorn:: We took our time too!!
Ok,now we will see who is the most gulable, the southerners or northerners?
Depends on how much of my story you believe.
Shell you wanted "gory" details, so you gottem!!! :rotfl2:

No, not a problem at all to put them on. The only time there are copyright issues is when you reproduce (or mass produce) an item with a copyrighted character or item.
Pat, you'd take Hwy 441 to get to my parents winter home in Mt. Dora!
Wendy, forgot to mention, that's the median in between the lanes on our highways.

OMG Shell - I HATE when I hear someone say "ax" instead of ask. I couldn't believe my ears the first time I heard someone say ax. I find myself correcting people and getting myself in trouble.
Ax and someone blowing their nose in an eating establishment are my biggest pet peeves! It never fails that I sit next to the table where someone blows their nose :furious:
That's right, Stephen has never seen snow...oh, wait. When we took his sister to check out a college in TN there was little patches of snow, mostly ice on the side of the mountain. Guess I'm an awful mom. No, take that back...Steve's an awful dad! I would love to see snow also. Not live with it, just see it. Build one snowman, throw a few snow balls at each other and then come home and go to the beach!
Correction on the sub and SODA, we have a sub and COKE!

Pat,
if it were illegal to use pictures of disney characters most people who have door signs would be arrested!!!
You will see disney characters on tons of signs and even just pictures of characters on doors.
Mostly it's illegal to use their pictures on something to sell and make money on.
I make disney iron on transfers for shirts I have and all the program said was it is illegal to use it to make profit.
so dont worry, just enjoy making your signs. I will be coming down your hallway looking at the signs, so do a good job!!
We always walk all the hallways by the end of the cruise just looking at door signs that people have made. I have seen some great ones out there.
