Mutt sorry about Honey.
You made me laugh out loud with the door sign suggestions. Personally, I don't do door signs. Maybe closer in, but right now im working on the packing list.

Hi Nana Heads
Bye, bye Honey. I wasn't really ready to be a Mommy just yet ... not by surprise at least!
Hey everyone ... watch your e-mails later today for a message from me about linking dinner reservations. I have some updated information to pass along so we can get that coordinated for those who want to eat together. PAT and CARRIE: I think you're the only ones I don't have e-mail addys for, so PM them to me if you'd like to be included.

Mutt,
sorry about the pup!! It reminded me of what happened to us a couple of months ago!! I still think you should get Shell a puppy as a Christmas present, you would be her hero!!! :cloud9:
Mina,
great picture!! :thumbsup2
Wendy,
we will be like the 3 Mousketeers as a greeting party!! ;)
We will swarm any lime green shirts that head our way and hope that some family didnt just decide to wear that color or we could get ourselves into BIG trouble, :rolleyes1 or maybe make a new friend!!!
Denise,
you count is getting close to 600, just keep posting and you'll make it, to 1000 in no time. :goodvibes
I just heard from some friends of ours who are entertainers for DCL and they said in the near future there will be NO band on the Wonder, but there will be a duo in the Promenade lounge. On the Magic there will be a band, but NO duo in the Promenade lounge, just an occassional piano player who will sing some. They said the band will be all over the ship entertaining. Plus a few other changes they didnt know details of. Not sure when all of this starts.
I really enjoed the duo in the lounge, it was relaxing and a nice way to kill time between events. i will miss it.

Hey nanas.
Yes I haven't spoken recently. I know... school.
I got a picture for you, can you tell where it was taken?

Oh and by the way, to mom x4, grandma x4, my name's Josh, Billy Joel is my idol, probably because I'm a pianist. Sorry for the confusion.
I love the piano! Play good songs, I must. But the only Billy Joel song I can play entirely is "She's Got a Way".
Mutt,
Mina,
great picture!! :thumbsup2
Kathy
Uh - ahem. Jeff gets the credit for the technological ability in posting. Mina doesn't post here - she's solely a lurker. Unless otherwise stated, the posts you see will be from Jeff, now the proud poster of pics! :rotfl2:

Hey Kathy... since you know people that work with Disney...I have a great suggestion to pass on. In the letter we recieved from Disney a few months back they said there would be a special Muppet show on a special cruise in Sept. See if they can swing that show onto our cruise. I would love to see a show like that on the ship (bet someone else that posts would enjoy it too, wouldn't ya, sweetie?)
Anyways...have a good afternoon everyone....the dreary dank grey Ohio sky reminds me that this really sucks....I wanna go on the boat now!!!! NOW!!!!
Ah,....that feels better...
Enjoy, folks....

Thanks for letting me know and everybody else for that matter.
I love some of Billy Joels music.
How long have you been playing the piano? :confused3
You seem to have alot of interests. Loved the picture, makes me want to go right now!!!
Mutt,
I will pass it along, I love the Muppets too and would LOVE to see a new muppet show too. ;)
Jeff,
my appologies to you too :worship: , guess I assumed that a woman posted the picture since it was so perfect!

Guess I'd better quite before I really get in BIG trouble here, of course I am always in trouble anyway. :sad2:

I've been playing the piano for over two years now, but I only took lessons for a half a year.
It's okay that you mistaken my name. Joel seems like a cool name.

Shell & Bill -- too bad about Honey. Did you at least get some reward money??? When the time is right, I'm sure you'll find a new "baby."
We've adopted a nice little cat within the last month. He just showed up on our lawn one evening. After calling the neighbors, "tough guy" DH fed it and now we have 3 cats. The weird thing is that he looks just like our other cat! (Our original cats are fixed, so we know they aren't parents!) We assume someone got tired of having a housecat and just dumped him out in the country.
Better get dinner ready so we're all done before Dancin' w/ the Stars! popcorn:: THIS is why I don't start watching these shows! :rotfl:

Love everyones pictures.....it really makes me want to go NOW!!!
Shell I would love to link reservations, however, I have no clue when our seating is...so not sure what to do. I have to discuss with my sister and niece.
Well just watching dancin with the stars to see who is going to get kicked off....I cant belive that Jerry made it back for another week. I think tucker will most likely be the one to let go....

Took Louie for a re-check on his ears. The doc came in and said that they had a sick little puppy and may not make it through the night. :sad2: isnt that sad...I felt really bad.
Shell and Bill glad to here that the dog and owner where united...but maybe after the cruise you can get another dog. I love my dog, but they are sooo much work and money, plus when you have to "let them go" its so hard and you miss them so much. I think after Jack goes that's it for me. No more dogs. Getting to old and I want to be able to go without having to board the dog and getting someone to watch them when we leave.
Have a great evening everyone.....

HEY KAAAAATHY WHERE ARE YOU!?
It's late girl get up! I thought you would be the first one on here this a.m.
I was running late at the gym this a.m. Thought a few extra steps on the tread would make a big difference
Denise, I'm with you on the dog issue. We love our Bailey but when his time is up, that's it. The dog I loved the most had to be put to sleep after we had him for 16 years. Stephen felt sorry for me and bought me Bailey. I love the dog but he's a mess. He can't stand being left alone. The night we had the car trouble we came home to the door in the laundry room all scratched and eaten away at the bottom. He was trying to get out! That was it for my dh, in the crate he went (the dog, not Steve!)
Well, have to get ready for my g'kids. Stephen and Esther will be dropping them off in an hour. those kids!
Good day everyone.

Today and tomarrow I have to get all my running around done before I start doggie sitting for my son. Don't want to leave his dog alone until he adjusts some.
Keep those posts and bananas coming, we will make 4000 on both by the cruise,

We have to have a Kitty-Sitter come stay with our cats when we go away for more than a night or two.
During our first cruise we just had someone come in and feed them and take care of their box... Well, My little charlie was so upset about being alone that he licked all the hair off his front legs and off a patch of his belly.
We brought him to the vet and were told that he had a "nervous" disposition and would put him on meds for it if it continued.... :cat:
So now we have one of the older teens from our church come in and spend the nights at our house and give them some love. So Sad.
Have a great day

Howdy,
Our friends just told us about a couple changes that will probably happen by the time we cruise.
Magic will no longer have a duo in the Promenade lounge, but occassionally will have a singing piano player. Personally I think that is a mistake. You can go to sessions or cadillac lounge for that. A lot of people used the duo for dancing with the kids, or a place to hang out while waiting to go to dinner, or just to relax with live music instead of the more party atmosphere on the clubs. The house band will move around the ship performing, what ever that means?
But worse than that, on the Wonder they will still have a duo in the Promenade lounge, but NO band?? :furious:
I dont know how they will get away with that. People expect live music at the party and the clubs at night. I dont know what if anything will take their place, our friends who work for DCL didnt know. I think people will be really MAD about NO live band on the Wonder!! They will get a lot of letters about that I'm sure. Live music is one of the highlights of the evening for people.
What do you guys think?? :confused3

Morning all,
Today is the day for me the dreaded D day. DH and I start the cruise diet today(well Mike doesn't know yet, but he'll figure it out). After Hurricane Katrina we had a LOT of stress eating in our house. So it is time to get serious. Going to the park to walk Disney our dog after dropping DS off at school.

Wendy - Good luck on the diet - I need to be thinking along those lines as well :rolleyes1
Kathy - That is too bad about the band - it seems like a pretty standard thing to have and hard to understand why they would do away with it completely?
I think I agree with everyone else on the dog issue. Huck is 12 and I think we will take a break after she moves on to Doggie Heaven. Alot of love, but also alot of work!
Big WOOHOO to Lukas Rossi out new CANADIAN Rockstar :cheer2: I actually havn't watched the show - had to tape it last night while I went riding - but saw on the news this morning that he had won. I am actually going to Google Rockstar after I get off the DIS to see what happened.

First Off....
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BILL & SHELL!
As for the animal issues, we have a good friend who is single who absolutely loves our animals. So, whenever we go out of town, he is more than happy to come over and babysit for us. Heck, I think the dogs and cats get more love when he is there than when they are with us! He is an animal nut, but can't have one with his roommate. So, he gets double pleasure...a break from his roommate and a house full of pets to play with!
BTW, does anybody want any tropical fish? Ours are being very...hmmm....productive! :fish: :fish: :fish: What started out as about 16 fish is now well over 50 fish!! And 2 females are about to burst with babies again! Our tank will only hold so much. When we were at PetSmart last week buying dog & cat food, DW asked the girl in the aquarium department if we could bring some back and get a credit! :rotfl2:
Have a great day everyone!

Denise...from Friday the 9th to yesterday, I walked/jogged a combined total of 48 miles. I'm allowing myself a lil "slip" on our anniversary (I'm sure I'll regret it terribly and go do a deathmarch this afternoon to shed the eggs and sausages). Its not easy being a chunky monkeyhttp://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2/woogal/2741-1.gif

Good Morning to you All,
Wow I had alot of reading from yesterday. Well yesterday was a REALLY bad day for me!! First off me and DH got alittle to no sleep. DS is teething really bad and they is nothing I can do to take away the pain. Then DS decided to scream the entire day off and on. I tried everything and nothing was working. Well we are off to a better start today!!! DS sleep okay and he is smiling and playing today :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 !! It is a rainy nasty say here in NY. Going to stay in and get wash :laundy: :laundy: and take out my fall clothes :cheer2: !! That means I get to pack my summer clothes for the cruise! Yeah :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: !! My dad is off from work today and is going to stop by with my little sister. Have a great day!!

Feenie: It's funny you posted this today-I was gonna ask everyone if they had every put their dog and cat at the same kennel and if you thought they would let them share a cage-since they live together here....I'm having such stress over the care of my pets while I'm gone-last cruise we put 'Lucy' our 9 year old Min Pin in the Kennel and left 'Jetta' our cat home with my DD's friend coming everyday to feed her-Jetta was very looonly-broke my heart when we got home...don't want to do this again!!
Feenie: By the way, we are in the cabin right next to you....5018... :thumbsup2 .

I'm trying to keep up but you all are writing so fast. Where can I see how many posts there are. I'm only seeing posts in the 2000's. I am also trying to remember who is who, but since I'm horrible with names as it is, I don't see that happening soon.
TV: I love reality TV. However, I'm trying to get our family to cutback on TV. We did start watching Dancing with the Stars. Dh has a thing for Sara Evans so he got me started. Tucker really needed to go, but I thought he might have a big enough fan base to keep him around. I didn't even recognize Joey Lawerance until I heard him talk. I am addicted to the Amazing Race and can't wait for it to start.
Dogs: My Max is doing so much better. She might be around longer than we were expecting. I haven't decided about whether we'll get another. It is so much work and worry. And this cancer thing is really wearing me out. But she has given us so much pleasure. My 4 yo son is starting to want to run around and play with her, but she is just too old. So maybe we will eventually.
Diet: Good Luck Wendy, We are working on that here too. This has been such a stressful year. Dh and I both gained quite a bit of weight. I had lost 50 lbs at WW 2 years ago and gained a good bit back this year. So I returned to WW last month and am starting to see some results. We joined the YMCA last week and exercise is makeing me feel so much better. Hopefully, I'll lose enough by the cruise that I will be more comfortable.
I know there was more I wanted to add but the short term memory is failing. I'll add more later and then I can contribute to the 4000.

I wish you all many more happy years together.
Carrie - I too just went back to WW on Monday. It was very difficult with the kids home this summer to get to my meetings. I LOVE going to meetings and I know that is what helped me the last time. I took off over 100 lbs but have since put back on about 20. So I am working hard again and feeling great about it!
I'll check back later - gotta keep those posts coming - right?

YEAH KELLY ON 100 LBS!!! We've been trying to be healthy, and Bill's lost about 80 or 90 over the past couple of years. I just went to Kohl's and bought new jeans ... TWO sizes smaller! :woohoo:
Hey Sarah ... yep, looks like your guy won last night! I could not believe that it wasn't Dilana, especially after Tommy said it was the person with the highest number of votes for the night ... I was sure that meant Dilana. But I think Navarro has a little thing for her (and he's very single right now!) so I'm expecting that he will mentor her ... um, musically, y'know :lmao: ... and we'll hear from her soon. Same with Toby.
Carrie: If you send me your e-mail address, I can send you the list of the nuts on this board ... which really helps in keeping everyone straight! We'd love to get a pic of your family for the list, too!

Kathy, that's so cool that you saw it while it was still being aired. Boy that Hawkeye is such a character!
It's been a rainy day in PA. [Sigh], what gloom.
Did anyone get to see the "Twiced Charmed" play on the ship? We watched every play in the Walt Disney Theater during the week. Here's a clip:

I am a lifetime member of WW also. If you saw me now you'd never know it! I haven't been to a meeting in about 5 years. When I became a g'ma I had to get fluffy! :rotfl2: It's in the grandparent rule book :goodvibes

Bill great on the workout. :cheer2: I really need to get on the treadmill myself, however, this little broken toe is still giving me some problems :sad2: and I dont want to make it worse. I need it completely healed by the cruise.
Well my sister is working on our seating time. I'm waiting to here :listen: from her tonight to see if anything can be resolved. Once it is, I will notifiy the person in charge of late or early seating.

***I broke my toe once and it took forever to heal. I never thought I'd walk normal again. It's in my top 5 of most painful events in my life. (probably #5)
When I talked to my travel agent to make my final payment, she said that it's really no problem to switch meal times. We were originally on the early seating for our cruise we scheduled for last year. Then we decided to switch to the late seating. When we postponed for a year, I has second thoughts and tried to switch to early again. I was told that I'd have to go on wait list (this was 14 months before the cruise!). When I made the final payment I told her to take us off the wait list. I think my kids will be o.k. being up that late on vaction. We can sleep in as long as we wish since we have inside cabins we won't even know better.

So i'm on a business trip in Toronto this week. Good meetings, all was just super. Raced to airport to try to make a 6:45 direct flight home to take the place of my trip through Philadelphia. Of course, I just missed it AND my flight to Philly was running 90 minutes late which became 2 and a half hours which meant I missed my connection to Pittsburgh which left me spending the night in the Philadelphia airport.
This was a first for me (and hopefully last). There were no hotels available between the airport and New Jersey and I didn't really get in until around 11:30 p.m. soooooooo I have been up all night (i can never sleep in these situations). And the worst part. I was in a part of the airport that did NOT have internet access. So boy was I bored for about half the time after I got tired of working and tired of reading. I watched a bit of Wedding Crashers but don't think I truly appreciated it because of how tired I am.
And for you eastern PA'ers who think - that's not so bad, the airport is kinda nice with all those rocking chairs and all. Nope. I was in the entry way of the F concourse with about 10 other flight missers/no hotel getters. And I was afraid to go anywhere else because I kept imagining getting locked out somehow and being stuck in the rain.
Truly it wasn't as bad as I had imagined but BOY am I tired. :surfweb: The most stressful part was when DW was trying desperately to get me a room right after I landed in Philly and calling with the bad news that every hotel she called was booked.
I'm actually still here right now sitting in the USAirways Club getting ready to get on a 6:30 a.m. flight home. Fingers crossed that it actually goes at 6:30. It's raining again.
So...if you think you're having a bad day......

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!
The weekend is almost here!! :woohoo:
Tonight my son is bringing his dog Poncho over for us to dog sit for him for a week while he goes to Oregon for a vacation.
That will give Minnie someone to play with, when he wants to play. He is older and doesnt have the energy of a puppy.
Minnie is walking excellant already after only 5 walks. She doesnt even want to run up to other dogs now. She loves it when the neighborhood kids are out and want her to stop and get some petting along the way, adults too. It is a good way to socialize her with strangers. So far she has really loved it.
If you say the word WALK, you'd better mean it!!! She rears up on her hind legs and moves her legs like a horse does until you get the leash out.
well I am off to the store and bank this morning because I dont want to leave these two dogs along for a few days. No telling what kind of trouble they would find.
I'll check back later to see what's happening here.
Hey, our gas went down to $2.43 !!! YIPPEE!!!

Kathy- Have fun with the dogs. We don't have one but we watch my Mom's dog for 7-10 days every year while she goes on vacation. She's a good dog and the kids love having her around. We are just so busy and rarely home that it wouldn't be fair to the dog if we were to get one.
Rain, rain go away........yuck! What a lousy morning here in Jersey. Oh well...I guess I'm going to get some cleaning done today after Jazzercise class. Boy the Easter Carribbean is looking REALLY good right about now! :sunny:

Happy Birthday, Bill! Hope it is a good one!
Jeff, when I was in college I had flown out to California to see one of my brother's. Had a layover in Houston on the way back. When we arrived at just after 10:00, they told us our connecting flight had not arrived, but they had us booked at 8:30 the next morning (woo-hoo). I, like you, have much difficulty sleeping in those situations, so I was walking around and messing around. I decided I would ride the airport train for a while just to be doing something. Well, I missed the announcement about it stopping running at around 2:30. So, the train reaches the last stop and the doors don't open. Now, this is 1986, no cell phones, no nothing. I ended up having to force the doors open so I could get out. So, you did the right thing by staying in place!

Slept from about 9:30 to 3. Told all my clients I'd be "indisposed" today. The epilogue is that I'm still waiting for my bag to be delivered to my house because of course it got lost even though i was the first one to check in for my flight - when you stay overnight in a chair next to the ticket counter, it's easy to be first. Checked my bag against my better judgemtn, but i was just so tired I didn't want to have to lug it from Terminal F to C and go through the security stuff with anytbhng more than my briefcase and laptop.
But all's well that ends well. And the lesson I learned from thi sis to NEVER take the last flight out of Philly (or anywhere for that matter). Stay another night if I have to.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello All!
Mutt - Happy B'day!! party:
Shell - nice prezzie - made me laugh LOL :dance3:
Denise - Sorry to hear about the window. We had a few of those instances with our DH (dear huck pluto:) too. From chewing up EVERYTHING when she was young to a bought with incontinence just last year (did you know dogs can get colitis?!?). Anyway, deep breaths!!
Josh - I did a model UN when I was in high school. I was Ghana :teeth: . It was very fun and quite educational. The fact that I can remember it goes to show that I quite enjoyed it LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
jd - sorry about all the plane hassles! Getting to YYZ is always a pain! They have been talking about expanding the subway out there forever, but I don't see it happening. Traffic is a nightmare though! Glad you are home and got some zzzzs
Tigger - have you seen the Robeez? They are really cut leather slipper-like shoes for little ones. They have some really cute designs, but also some in black. I loved them for DS as they don't slip off and aren't rigid like some other baby shoes. Just a thought.
Congrats to everybody on the WW stuff - combined we're talking like 500 lbs!!!!!!!!!!! That's amazing :thumbsup2
So, the job hunt continues. I think I have moved from denial into anger. I just couldn't be bothered to do anything at work today and was generally pissy. I have been working my network and hope that something will come back from some of my e-mails.
Everyone cry for my Packers. I may have to defect back to my Dad's team - the Cowboys. I stopped watching them a few years back when it was like a soap-opera, but at least the vultures aren't circling down in TX like they are in WI (is that right for Wisconsin???).
Anyway, hope everyone has a GREAT weekend. I'll try and pop in and do my part to keep the count going!

Lawn is cut....huge job we have a huge lot. So with the rider mower and hand mower it still takes close to 1.5 hours to do. Before we moved into this house, the house we lived in before had a really tiny front lawn and a "normal" size back lawn. So when we picked the lot for the house to be built on my DH decided on a corner lot, so we have two large front lawns plus the two sides the large back and we have to keep up the burm (sp). So after living here for 12 yrs, Wally is always saying we should have had this lawn when the kids were little and we were younger :confused3 What the heck were we thinking :confused3 :confused3 . Oh well, were thinking of down sizing in a couple of years anyway...as soon as we can talk DS into moving out. :rolleyes1
Well I will be back later to keep up the posts.

Evenin all....thank you Lynn and Sarah....very much.
Its weird that these boards started jumping late on Friday....thats atypical for us....but s'ok with me.
Wendy....just so ya know, I DID have my margarita. The bad thing was I don't drink much, I barely ate all day, I did a pretty rough workout and some stuff in the yard.
Shell will probably verify all this but that one drink pretty well cut me down midway through the meal...but I DID have a good time. I'm one of those happy kinda people after I've had a few...My friend said he would start my "training" for the cruise next week. I honestly would like to remember bits and pieces of it.
Have a great evening gang

Good morning,
boy am I posting late today, it's 7:30!! :hourglass
I have been up since 4 a.m. when DH took our son to the airport, at that time his Lab started to cry and howl, so Minnie decided she should be polite and join with her guest and cry and howl too. :sad2:
This went on until around 6 a.m. when DH returned. Poncho was upset Randy was gone, but Minnie kept him busy playing. They are testing each other right now, if you have dogs you know what I mean!!!
Poncho is twice as big as her, thank goodness both are NOT agressive dogs.
I did move all my Disney figurines into the bedroom for safety!!
It is going to be an interesting week around here. :rolleyes1
Anybody got any plans this weekend??
If so let us know, we need to keep the posts coming to reach our goal!!
Bill, how was the dinner last night??
Have a great day everyone, ours will be interesting for all, I'm sure.

Mornin everyone....
Dinner was awesome Kathy... I had some creole eggrolls (one of their house specialties) and a seafood pasta. It was very nice and now that all the celebrations are over....its all down to the wait for the big boat...thats 10 weeks from now kids...70 days.....with all the leaves starting to turn its just amazing how time flies. Seems like I noticed a lot more...I watched as pitchers and catchers reported for spring training and now there are 16 games left...at least for our hapless Indians. I walk past a farm on my trots and remember the first plantings to the first sproutings. Yesterday they finally tilled everything over for winter. Anyways....have a good Saturday...go Bucs....hope everyone has a great day.

I will post a picture later when I get back from the mall. I was looking at the threads last night and everyone was talking about theses new shoes called Crocs. I bought a pair because they are suppose to be very confortable and very light. Anybody have them??? Have a great weekend !!!

Well, the weatherman promised blue skies and sun. He lied so far. Nuttin' yesterday or this morning but clouds. But again, he is promising a break this afternoon and sun tomorrow. Let's just say, it'd better happen this time or he's going to get a knock on his door with a very unhappy Woo on the other side ... :furious:
Yesterday I became a redhead. I go darker in the fall and lighten up again come spring ... wait! What am I saying?! I mean, I NATURALLY go darker in the fall and then NATURALLY get blonder in the spring and summer :rolleyes1 Yeah, that's the ticket.
Denise, I know you're not really finding this little bit of destruction in your home funny, but y'know when you look in their eyes and say "what did you do", they give you such a sweet look that you can't possibly get mad! :dog: He's just havin' fun at Grandma's!
Kathy, my parents are heading back to Mt. Dora this Sunday, so hopefully your weather is better that it is here! They're making a couple of stops to see friends on the way down and will get home probably a week later.
Wendy said something funny to me the other day. She said for as much as we all talk in here, wouldn't it be just perfect if we all got to the Promenade at 3:00 and none of us knew what to say to each other?! Dead silence! :lmao: Oh, I don't think so! I'm figuring that the womenfolk will be playing "Pass the Baby" with little Drew and Laura, while the menfolk (led by Bill and Mike) will be playing "Who Can Fart and Belch the Loudest". :rotfl2: (unfortunately for the womenfolk, that game will probably last for 7 nights :sad2: )
Have a great one! Let's keep these posts coming ... we have a GOAL, people! :rotfl:

Good Morning
Dh and I slept in a little bit this morning. We went to a comedy show last night that was a fundraiser for Easter Seals. The guy is brutal. His whole act is more or less based around people in the audience. Fortunately for me and DH we found a nice seat in the back of the room.
I'm hoping the sun starts peeking out here at some point. I'm so tired of overcast skies and rain. I could use a dose of sunshine.
Not too much going on here this weekend. Our DS has testing in Karate for his next belt and then we are heading to my brother's house for a few hours to visit with my niece(8 mos) and my godson (4). Then it's off to a nice dinner out. On Sundays we generally go to Church and then a quick lunch with some friends from Church followed by hanging out at home watching football and lounging around. A fairly quiet weekend but one that I'm looking forward to.
I hope everyone has a great day!

Hey everybody, Hope you are enjoying your weekend. We left the kids at home and went out last night. We did the Habachi style Japanese food. We got there pretty early and had to entire restaurant to ourselves. I think it would have been more fun with a few other people around.
Afterwards we went to see Little Miss Sunshine. It was a geat movie. I really enjoyed it. We got up today and Kevin is painting our living room. It's the third time in 4 1/2 years. I think we got it right this time.
My son is sick. He has an unexplained stomach thing he gets on occasion. When he was 2 he started getting it quite a bit. Our doctor did Xrays and all kinds of test but nothing ever explained it. Now he only gets it every 4 - 6 months. I hope he's done until next year. He is so grumpy but so sweet. Well, he's screaming at my husband who's trying to finish cleaning up the paint. I guess I should go before it gets ugly.
Take care and be safe.

So far, it's a nice, quiet day. I ran a 5-mile race this morning, DH mowed the lawn, and I touched up the mulch in our flower beds. :woohoo: :woohoo: (We lead such exciting lives!)
Denise, I feel your pain about the yard maintanence. We're on a 2+ acre lot. Luckily about 1/2 is trees and some underbrush. We've talked about clearing out the junky trees, but then we'd probably need 2 of the commercial strength mowers to get 'er done! :crazy2:

Well, the adventure never ends in our house. We were having a nice relaxing morning at church today. I look over to see both of my daughters scratching their heads non-stop. I tell my Kevin to switch seats with my 6 yo. I look into her hair and find it covered in lice. I didn't even notice this morning since I was in such a hurry. So we left church immediately. Stopped by the Walgreens and spent over $100 for enought stuff to treat the whole family and house. I don't think I have it yet, but I'm a little paranoid. We are supposed to go to a homeschool picnic today. I think now that we've been treated we'll be ok. Now I have to call all my daughters friends and warn them to check their kids. What fun. :scared1:

Hello Fellow Wild Turkeys!
Friday was a VERY hectic day. One thing that makes consulting work difficult is that you can't use the excuse that what you don't finish today can wait until tomorrow. Especially when you have a nother client expecting you at their office tomorrow. So, I had to work my tail off to finish up all the work last week, and the client just kept piling in additionaly little things to drag it out!
But, yesterday was great. We went to the Ga. Tech versus Troy University game and had a blast. We won 35 to 20, and had fun tailgating before and after the game!

my parents use to have a pomeranian with a bob tail tons of fluffy fur, he was named fluffy. believe me my mom had a different name for him every time he "went" too !!! She was always having to cut stuff off his hair, she even cut his tail hair as short as she could, but since it laid down instead of curling over his back, it was no use. Our biggest thrill was to get up during th night to use the bathroom and step on a little ball of  that had fallen off his fur .
Childhood memories!! :rolleyes1

Good Morning Everyone!
We had a beautiful weekend this weekend, and it is continuing today. We are supposed to go to the low 80s most of this week with lows working their way down to the low 50s and highs working their ways down to the low 70s.
Now, here is the difference between the Northern and Southern cruisers: Us southern folks are glad about the temperature drops, because it means we are headed into fall and winter, and winter really ain't that bad around here. We are leaving our miserable, hot, humid summer behind! :sunny:

Bob's right ... the southerners love the coming of Fall. Us northerners ... well, me and apparently Denise, especially ... fear the coming of the "S" word. I purposely made flight plans for noon the Friday after Thanksgiving just in case there was a snowstorm that screwed up the roads to the airport! Now that's planning for the worst!
On my way into work this morning, I saw gas for $2.10! Can anyone beat that?
Can you believe we're actually under 70 days to boarding the ship?! :dance3: OMG, this is coming so quick now!!! Bill and I were talking at dinner the other night about the cruise (gee, what else do we talk about?!) and I said, "Ya know, I'm excited about getting there and vacation and all, but I'm really excited about meeting all our new friends, too." So here's to all of you ... thanks for making this so much fun!!!!

Hello All. It's a beautiful day in FL today, at least where I'm at. Still a bit hot but I'm holding out hope for the 80's to show up! :sunny:
Oh Kathy, you made me laugh about your moms dog. That reminded me of a time my dad had a poo poo-peree episode. He was living with my sister and her dh at the time. He had a little dog that he just loved. This little dog loved to "go" in the house. My sister's h said that if that happened again the dog was gone. One morning my dad woke up early and saw IT on the floor. Knowing that he had to work fast he went for the paper towels, he didn't want anyone else to see the blob. He went to pick up the mess and it hopped! Scared the you know what out of dad :goodvibes He didn't have his glasses on and it turned out to be the frog that jumped out of my sister's fish tank! :rotfl2: Poor dad.
Carrie - been there done that with the head lice. Yucky! Our dd had long hair and we sat for hours pulling eggs off her hair. What a job. Then the house was treated, the car, her bed, all her stuffed animals - just everything and everyone!
Being a preK-4, and kindergarten teacher, I inspected heads all the time after that happened.
Bill- Thank you for giving my baldness a name. I am also follically challenged. The only problem is I'm a girl. :guilty:
I have been to all kinds of doctors and tried all kinds of medications. I even tried Rogaine. No use. I'm a "shinning" example for the family now! I don't like it, but what can you do :confused3 I even passed the bald gene down to Stephen.
I was reading an article one time about male pattern baldness in women and it stated that one in 10 women will experience thinning hair, one in 100 will experience baldness. I looked around the room full of women and wondered who the bald one was and it dawned on me...it's ME :teeth:
You all will see what I'm talking about that's for sure...I can't hide it.
Well, Laura had her test done this a.m. We won't know the results for a couple of days. Thanks for all your support and thoughts. It really means alot to Stephen and Esther. Stephen didn't take this too well, Laura is daddy's "little girl" He's doing better now.
Boy this is long! Sorry...
Have a good day. HI KATHY

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is having a good day. I need you to pray for me. I know this might not be the place to discuss things like this but I can't keep this in anymore.
A few weeks ago we moved in with my in laws. It is not going well. Last weeks was okay but the first 2 weeks were rough. Please pray that every thing continues to go well. My MIL has terminal cancer and is going through chemo and we moved in to help them.
Hope you all have a great day.

Please know that you are in our prayers and thoughts. I understand what you are going through. My dad was living with us and he was under Hospice care. It was one of the hardest things I have ever been through. I still miss my daddy.
I think everyone on this board will keep you close at heart. They all seem like a kind caring group.

Of course this is the place to discuss things like this! We are all friends here! DW and I will definitely keep you and your family in our prayers. Like you and Pat, I went through a similar instance 4 years ago with my dad. My oldest brother lived with him, and I came over to relieve him as much as I could. The last 6 months of his life were the most difficult times I have ever been through physically, mentally and spiritually. It hurts to see a loved one going through those type of things. :grouphug:

It's a strange thing. I think I was posting on someone's TR - basically I posted something totally unrelated to the original post. Someone had a link in their siggie to find out your pirate name, so I went there and input my info. I came up with the same 'pirate name' as the person who had it in their siggie - so I figured we must have the same name until I realized (DUH!!!) that is is just a random assigned name....so I felt like a bit of a dork. Anyway, not a really exciting story, but there you are. I was just on the Canadian thread - go there every so often to keep up with my homies (I don't even think that is how you spell homies - I am such a loser LOL) and there was a thread about how alot of people had gotten tagged. So I posted on there to complain about not being tagged (in a nice way) and much to my surprise - I had been tagged. Pretty funny anyway.
Did you all notice the reference to one of our dear Banana-Head's wife in my tag?!?!?!?! I hope she doesn't join our little gang or head's are going to roll. :rotfl: :rotfl:

thanks everyone,
I do appreciate it. It was so bad that we even said that we would move out. I do not want this to happen because we sold most of the things we had. We would have to start all over again. Thanks for letting me vent. Two Saturdays ago we got into a big fight and we left. We went to my parents house for a little while. My 3 Dd were very upset. I hate to see them so upset. It is so frustrating. I do not know what to do or say anything that might upset them. What should I do.
I forgive them but I am so afraid. I do not want to live this way.

Hey Pat,
It's kind of a cute thing they do on the DIS. There is someone (who we affectionatly refer to as the Tag Fairy) who will randomly go around and put comments under your name - in colour. So, I had posted on a few threads, including this one and the TF (tag fairy) for some reason was looking through the posts and decided that those little comments maybe said something about me or whatever. Anyway, she/he then added them to my profile. Only the TF can put comments in colour, and you have no idea when/what will show up. It's just kinda fun. :thumbsup2

Good afternoon everyone. How was your weekend? 2 Months and 1 Week left before the trip starts! I'm having dreams about it for some reason. Guess my mind's ready when we go!
I'm going to the hospital soon. My grandmother is very ill. She was administered today. I'm really worried. Just so ya know, I'm speaking in a very solemn voice (solemn, incase you don't know, is a fancy word for serious :thumbsup2 ). The space suttle Atlantis is due to land Wednesday.
Did anyone know my dad got to personally meet Mickey?!?  Not kidding.
Just before everyone had to be back on the ship, my dad was on deck four, facing Castaway Cay. My dad noticed that everyone on the ground was waving at him. My dad turned to his right and lo and behold, there stood Mickey Mouse!  I wasn't there to see it sadly, he told me.
I have to go.

DH and I have been through this with both our dads, so I know what your going through. it is hard on everyone, so please vent when ever you want to, even PM me if you want, I am here and will listen if that will help you. All of us here ,on this cruise will be here for you, just keep in touch when you can. :grouphug:
Pat, i also have been saying a prayer for Laura and the rest of you, I know how stressful this can be. We had one child who was critically ill for the first few years of his life, so I know how bad the worry and stress can be. Please let us know when you get the results.
Steve and Esther picked a great day for MK, toamrrow is suppose to rain.
I'm sure they are having a blast. MK is my favorite park. :cloud9: DH loves Epcot.
well we are doing pretty good on our posts here, we should make our 4000 goal if everyone keeps up the way we have been. :thumbsup2

Hello All!
Wow -- lots of pages of posts to read since my last post on 9/12. Guess I have to post more often!!!
Pgfour, favoriteslave and tiggerking -- I'm an early riser, too. I usually hang out on deck 9 near the coffee station waiting for Dave to arrive each morning. He's usual ETA is 8 or 8:30 am.
Dave is still working -- at Ford. He only has 11 years of service and is too young (for this retirement offer) and will keep on working -- unless, Bill Ford, Jr. wants to make a more than lucrative offer to Mr. Dave.
Dave works nights; I work days. We see each other on the weekends. Great marriage!!! By the way, we're celebrating 22 years this Friday. :cheer2: And they say second marriages don't last. Of course, I'll have to celebrate alone Friday night. Happy anniversary congrats to Bill and Shell, and belated happy birthday, Bill. Happy 35th anniversary Pat!!!
I want all my fellow DISers to know that I -- the most uncreative person on earth -- made two door signs last week! I felt so intimidated as I walked into Hobby Lobby, walked in circles around the scrapbooking stuff, and suddenly developed a headache. Do all stickers stick? Is a scrapbook sheet large enough? How will I hang the signs? Such serious issues to deal with on my lunch hour. Anyway, when Dave saw my 3 day project, even he was impressed!
Kathy -- can't belive the musical changes they are making on both ships. I have enjoyed the duos in the Promenade Lounge. It's a great meeting place before and after dinner.
Fellow Castaway members -- my co-worker just got off the Magic a week ago. The repeaters reception consisted of bottled water, choco chip cookies and rice krispie treats. No free shrimp, foo foo snacks, and mixed drinks.
Congrats to my fellow Weight Watchers -- kdmjgal, emaelltt1, j&c's mom, and Pat. I, too, am a lifer, got to goal weight in 1988. I have gone back periodically. Lost 20 pounds earlier this year. Need to revisit the meetings to lose a few pounds/inches before I overeat and overdrink onboard. Dave gained about 14 pounds on a 4 day Wonder cruise in 2003. Yes, not a typo, 14 pounds in 4 days. He loves to eat!!! Mutt, congrats on your diligent work outs.
Cindalu -- big :grouphug: to you and your family. I can only imagine the stress you are having. Vent all you want with us.
SSR -- Cindalu, dkmjgal and we (Dave, Bob and Gitta) are staying at SSR the night before our cruise. Wonder if we could have a mini DIS meet early Sat. Although it may be too much of a time crunch to meet.
Jeff -- sorry for your loss on Saturday. My gain -- Jeff buys me a drink since my Spartans beat his Panthers. Jeff, on Saturday morning, I told Dave about our bet. He said oh no, you're going to go broke making such crazy bets. He has MSU season football tickets, and he didn't believe his team would win. MSU hosts Notre Dame this Saturday. Anyone want to wage a bet with me???!!!
Gas prices -- $2.13 tonight in mid-Michigan.
Hard to believe we are at 9 weeks 5 days. The time is soon approaching.
As we, too, are northerners, we are leaving a day early to board the ship as we don't want a snow storm or ice storm to make us miss the 5pm departure from Cape Canaveral.
Have a great evening.
Jan

Don't bet her. She's a shark. :rotfl2: Well your husband was right for one quarter then I think the Spartans from 1960 (or whenever they were THIS good) showed up. Or the Panthers of last year (the stinky ones) decided to suit up.

Got home from work about 1/2 hr. ago. DH is in bed. So I came in thru the garage, kitchen kinda dark...upstairs to change. come back down and there are these two boxes on the table covered with a paper towel... I pick up the towel and there is a note in front of each box. On to "mom" from Jack (my dog) and one to "grandma" from Louie. I collect dreamcicles. they are like little churibs...anyway they are soooo cute. (of course dh got them but cant figure out where or why) they were from the "boys" a belated birthday gift...isnt that sweet...
Just got a message today from DD...she has arrived in Iraq a couple of days ago. Safe and sound. She said the base is huge..they have a bus system to get around. So I feel better knowing that she is safe there.

Good Morning Everyone!
It's looking like another beautiful day here in NJ :sunny: I am looking forward to fall but I am REALLY enjoy this Sept. sunshine right now!
Cindalu - I lived with my in-laws for almost 5 mos. while we were waiting for our house to be built. It was rough and we wound up leaving on a bad note...but eventually things did smooth over and we do have a good relationship with them. Our kids are very close to them. I am here for you too!
Yes we are also flying in the day before the cruise and staying at SSR. We are planning on some play time in the parks. We were there in May/June and bought annual passes so we could spend some time the day before and the day we return from the cruise.
Jan - you've inspired me to get busy with making my signs! Congrats to you also on WW.
Going to Jazzercise in a bit and then food shopping later. Someone has to keep the cabinets stocked around here, right? I am hoping to sneak in a bike ride or walk too so that I can enjoy this great weather before it leaves us.
Have a great day everyone!

Pat and Steve - thinking of Laura, hope all is well. Hope MK brought a smile to her face. :grouphug:
Cindalu - glad you are posting! We are arriving Thursday 23rd Nov and going to Cocoa Beach - staying at the new Residence Inn
Josh - today is the inaugural sitting of the UN - are you keeping UTD for your mock-UN? Sorry to hear about your grandma :grouphug:
Jan - Happy Anniversary! You are very ambitious about your x-mas prezzies. I am trying to convince DH that the cruise is our present, we'll see if he goes for it LOL!
runa - what are you doing for your internship?
Denise - those prezzies sound cute - dogs are so thoughtful :teeth:
All is good here. Nice weather this week - but definately fall-like. Got an invite to a friends place for Thanksgiving (ours is October 9th). She lives in a small town about 1 1/2 hrs away and they have a fall fair that weekend. Should be great time and great eats! The job hunt continues. I've been 'working the network' and hope to hear something back in the next few weeks. Work has been pretty boring since al we are doing is project wrap-up (or post-mortem as I call it). Oh well, this too shall pass! DS seems to be enjoying school - which is good because he has at least another 10 years to look forward to LOL.

Hope Laura had a great time at MK :wizard: We're thinking of her and hoping for good news.
Sarah -- congrats on getting tagged! :cool1: (I was pretty excited to become a Mouseketeer a few days ago!!!!! :cheer2: )
Happy Anniversary Jan & Dave! :cheer2: (Hope that's the right couple -- I had to read 3 pages of posts just to get caught up!)
Went to Kohl's yesterday to find some clothes for DD. I think they must know when we're coming and do an alert to the employees: "Quick, they're almost here, hide all the clothes in their sizes!!" :sad2: After an hour+, we managed one pair of jeans and 3 shirts. I guess it's a good way to keep costs down! :rotfl:
Well, better get to work. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! Dancing With the Stars is on tonight! :happytv:

As of right now, DW and I will be staying at Pop Century at WDW. That may change as we get closer. I want to surprise DW with a few days at WDW after the cruise. If we are able to make that work, then I will use either Hilton or Marriott points to stay either in Downtown Disney, off property, or at Cocoa Beach. So, are you confused as I am now? :confused3

Hey guys,
Sorry for not posting lately, it's been crazy, I know mom's been keeping you all up to speed.
Yesterday was probably one of the most difficult things I've had to do. It's more of a feeling of loss of control, watching them hook 26 wires to your 7 month olds head. You realize real quick that things are not in your hands. God only let us "borrow" our kids, but he is in control.
For a group of people who don't really know each other, you guys are a caring, compassionate group, and I thank you all for remembering us.
Well I did what any responsible parent would do to try to make things better for their kids. I pulled the oldest one out of school, and we all went to Disney! As the wife said, we went to our happy place.
Again thanks for thinking of us.

We're thinking of you Steve. I know what you describe above. Our DD (now 2 1/2) developed severe jaundice in her first week of life and we had to rush her to ER and ultimately NICU at 7 days old. When they hooked her up to all the monitors and put in the IV, I lost it and do so everytime i think of it. She came through it all okay after a weekend under the lights in NICU. My thoughts are with you for all good things to come and many "happy place" days.
Okay, since Jeff is encouraging me (shame on him), here is another one!

Love it. I'm a sucker for a corny joke. That's why I love it when my nearly 8 year old DD comes home from school with a new joke! Now, I'm dreading the day she comes home with an off color one and the way kids are today I hold my breath every time she says, Daddy can I tell you a joke! :rotfl:

My GOSH! Y'all have been BUSY while I was gone! I ran out of lunch time before I ran out of posts to read . . . Happy Anniversary Bill & Shell. And years of happiness to the anniversary folks and birthday folks I missed.
How did the baby Laura make out with her tests?
I'm happy to report that of 14 Tag.Teammates running in the DL 1/2 marathon, 12 finished (not the blind man and his wife although they gave it a valient effort), and our youngest team member finished 3rd in his age group, with an average pace of 6.49 min/mile.
Flight from heck coming in from Vegas last night - in front of two related families with three kids under 5 each - NONE of whom, kids or adults, sat still or shut up for the entire 5 hour trip. I was reduced to leaning forward and holding my hands over my ears. arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.
Happy day, all!

Big hugs to you and your family, Steve. Your precious Angel is in our thoughts and prayers. I can remember when my goddaughter, Alyssa, had to have open heart surgery at 10 weeks of age. Watching Alyssa's mom "give" her baby to an OR nurse that morning is something I never want to see again. Alyssa had an excellent recovery and only sees the heart specialist every three years. Unfortunately, kids with Down Syndrome often have heart-related problems.

Lucinda - I was wondering how you are doing today? I hope all is :thumbsup2 . Sending you a :grouphug: from our family.
Well, not too much longer and Yo Ho Yo Ho a cruising we will go! :goodvibes
It seemed like it was taking forever to get here, now I'm worried that I won't have everything done before we have to go.
It's funny how life is. I was reading Stephen's post about watching Laura being hooked up and not having control. That's exactly how his dad and I felt when he was 11 1/2 months old. He was born without a soft spot and his head was growing very lop-sided. He had to have part of his skull removed so they can make him a soft spot and allow his brain to grow. You realize at that moment that life is a gift, a treasure. And family and friends are part of that gift. So I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for showing concern and support for our children.
Yes, Stephen, my face is leaking again ;)

Is Pirate Day a Hallmark holiday? I didn't get cards.
Lucinda, I'm sure there are others who will have much better advice, but I would talk with a pastor, child psychologist, or someone who has "been there, done that" to offer some suggestions. Are there any opportunities for some one-on-one time -- even just to go get groceries or run errands? Sometimes little things make all the difference. Best of luck -- I know the other Nanas will have some great advice. :thumbsup2

Back again!
Lynn, I just sent you an email about linking early seating ressies.
Dutch's Mom - I've had that tag about a year - got it over on the scrapbook board.
Lucinda - Is it possible that your dd is depressed? Something could be going on at school that's whacked her self esteem, too. I'd do some investigation. Why does she feel unloved? "What could I do that would help you feel loved?" or "what would have to happen for you to feel loved?"
I also suggest specific praise - ie NOT "You look so pretty in that dress", but rather behavior based - something she has control of - "I liked how you played with your baby brother so nicely after school" or "I appreciated that you tidied your room without being asked" or "I'm proud of you for the effort you put in to doing your math homework correctly" or whatever is relevant.
Happy Day, All

Seeing as today is pirate day I thought of one thing, one of the best lines from a movie in a long time, "I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request, means no." I about spit my $3.50 Dr.Pepper across the theater when Barbosa dropped that beauty.

Hi Nana Heads!
Cindy -- Is your daughter's behavior/thoughts related to your move to your in-laws or to your m-i-l's illness? Has she had to change schools with the move? Have her teacher(s) noticed changes? Contacting a pastor and/or psychologist may be helpful for you and her. Big hugs to you.
Lynn -- I, too, plan to get my Christmas shopping done before our cruise. I don't want the after-cruise glow to evaporate as I am trying to buy gifts in the last few weeks before the holiday. I also plan to have my new tree decorated in the living room before the cruise. I usually decorate by mid-November due to all our traveling between Thanksgiving and the new year.
Linda - We are on the wait list for early seating. If we do get early seating, maybe we can "tag along" at the last minute with your linked ressies. I'll talk to you about it at the 3pm DIS meet that day.
Josh -- Love the pic of the sail away party. I haven't been on deck 9 at 5pm in a few cruises. We are usually on deck 4.
Have a great evening everyone. Going to the basement to clean out some stuff. Also, getting a box to keep all my just bought cruise stuff together.

My dh found this little gem . . .
http://www.talklikeapirate.com/
HE is . . .
"Profile: Some men and women are born great, some achieve greatness and some slit the throats of any scallawag who stands between them and the mantle of power. You never met a man - or woman - you couldn't eviscerate. Not that mindless violence is the only avenue open to you - but why take an avenue when you have complete freeway access? You are the definitive Man of Action. You are James Bond in a blousy shirt and drawstring-fly pants. You are Charlie's Angels without so much "Charlie" and decidedly light on the "Angel." Your swash was buckled long ago and you have never been so sure of anything in your life as in your ability to bend everyone - Man, Woman or Individual of Transgender or indecipherable Sexual Identification - to your will. You will call anyone out and cut off their head if they show any sign of taking you on or backing down. You cannot be saddled with tedious underlings, but if one of your lieutenants shows an overly developed sense of ambition he may find more suitable accommodations in Davy Jones' locker. That is, of course, IF you notice him. You tend to be self absorbed - a weakness that may keep you from seeing enemies where they are and imagining them where they are not."
Who IS this guy and what has he done with my husband?

Today is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL in Georgia. Low this morning in the mid-50s and high today in the mid-70s. Now that's what I'm talking about! :sunny:
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! It is extremely busy at work, but I am sooooo looking forward to Friday. DW and I decided to take Friday off from work. We have the Ga. Tech game tomorrow night, and then we will go to the Brad Paisley concert on Friday night. If things work out, we may have backstage passes for the concert on Friday. A friend who used to attend our church is now singing back-up for Carrie Underwood while she works on her own album. If she ends up coming to the Atlanta show, she said she would arrange for the backstage passes for us. The funny thing is, I am more exicited about the opportunity to see Cheree' again that Carrie Underwood or Brad Paisley! She has a beautiful voice. So, watch for the name Cheree' Bebout at a record store near you soon!
Have an AWESOME Wednesday everyone!

Good morning Banana Heads
Cold, rainy and ugly here in Ohio. :sad1: I think we need to change the lyrics to "California Dreamin'..." to "Disney Cruise Line dreamin' ..."
My Fantasy Football team is 1-1. You know what this means?! My record is better than the Browns at this point! :rotfl2:
But more importantly, it's time to Wednesday Morning Quarterback Dancing with the Stars :woohoo: . OK, Joey was awesome  , I'm still impressed with Springer (not bad for an old guy), Emmit was so-so for me. A couple of the girls (Willa and Shanna) seemed slow to me compared to the music and their partners. Mario is just good to look at no matter what he does on the dance floor! :smooth:
Kathy, can't wait to see those guns you're building from all that ball playing! Guido was a ball player all his life until a few months ago. That's when THE ball died (he's had it since he was like 2) and he refuses to even look at another ball ... even though Mommy bought the exact same one and Daddy scuffed it up with power tools, soaked it in his water dish, tore pieces out to give it that "lived in" look ... (have I ever mentioned that Guido's a spoiled rotten little dog?! :sad2: I wonder who did that to him? :rolleyes1). Anyhoo, life just isn't the same without THE ball.
Let's get some posts in here today!!! And some more Bananas!!!

Good Morning Everyone
Well the sun is shining again here today in NJ :sunny: We also started in the 50's and will reach the low 70's today. I LOVE this weather!
Lucinda - sending hugs your way!
Steve and family - know that you are in my thoughts and prayers while you await the results.
Shell - my DH and brother have been in a fantasy league for about 4 years now. I help with it also. They have fun doing it but aren't very good unfortunately. Although they have started out 1-1 also!
Lynn - I truly do feel your pain with DS's no sleeping. Hang on..it will get better - I promise!
Think of me today if you will...I've decided to start a new group at my Church and we meet for the first time today. The focus of our group is helping each other stay grounded while raising our kids!!! We even have some Mom's joining us who are Grandma's and Great Grandma's. I LOVE their input.
Did I mention that I CAN"T WAIT FOR OUR CRUISE!!! :Pinkbounc Ok there, got that off my chest .
Have a great day everyone!

Hi all,
I am off today so I am having a me day. I will go get a pedicure and go out to lunch with some friends.
Lucinda, I am glad your DD is doing well we are sending you lots of :grouphug:
Kelly good luck with your group. I am sure it will go well
Shell, I watched the Stars last night too and thought that young girl Monique I think is her name did very well, but I still remain an Emmett fan he just reminds me of a big ole teddy bear.
Ahhh speaking of which we have a build a bear from hen DS was like 4 and even though he out grew it, it remains in my office at home. Well I bought him a pirate outfit for the cruise. I figured Mikey went on DS first cruise he can come on this one too.
Kathy, Disney our dog will play fetch with anything you throw to him sometimes I have to throw it far just so I can get back in the door to the house. :rotfl:
Bob, it was cool here this morning too I actually worked in the garden briefly when I got home from dropping DS off at school.

Wendy: It was so nice last night that Lisa and I got out and I cut the grass in the backyard while she pulled weeds. We then took the dogs for a ride to go and buy them some dry food. We drove with the windows down the entire time, which made the labs happy.
The youngest, Lulu, has actually been able to learn that the button on the door has something to do with her window. If I don't roll it down fast enough, she will start scratching at the button. Of course, this is the same dog who tells us at 9:30 that it is her bed time and so we must all go to the bedroom or she gets antsy!
Speaking of finicky dogs, the two labs are hilarious. I spend the money to buy them Pedigree brand dry food, and you have to practically force it down their throat to get them to eat it. DW even went so far as to put canned chicken broth on their dry food to get them to eat it. So last night, we go to PetSmart and buy the store brand dog food. They woofed it down like it was prime rib! :confused3

The sun was out briefly :sunny: this morning in mid-Michigan. Turned on my Jimmy Buffet CD to keep me in cruise (as in DCL) mode while driving to work.
Kathy -- Aren't you cruising on the Magic this Saturday? Can't wait to hear about this cruise when you get back.

Jan,
wish I was going again this saturday!!
But we changed that cruise to the 8/5 cruise we just took. we did that so we could take DD and grandkids with us.
Wendy,
Poncho will fetch anything you throw too. If it is laying around he will pick it up and drop at your feet or in your lap, then just sit and stare at it until you throw it. He can sit for several minutes that way, then he starts to cry, then howl, then bark if you dont respond.
Minnie knows our routine at night too and if we vary from it or dont move along quick enough she lets us know to hurry up. then once we are ready for bed we have to stop by her bed and give an ear scratching and a belly rub or she will bug you to death!! In the morning if one person gets up before the other one she will wake the other person up with a cold nose, wet tongue and lots of crying until both are up. :sad2:
we can even have one person upstairs and one downstairs or she goes nuts running up and down the stairs until we are both on the same floor.
At least both dogs are napping right now, after 2 hours of playing fetch they better be pooped, now I can relax some, I hope!! :rolleyes1
Lucinda,
glad to hear yesterday was a better day. :thumbsup2
Steve, Esther, Pat,
still thinking good thoughts for all of you guys! :grouphug:
Shell,
when you find the person who spoiled your dog rotton, let me know. He seems to of come to my house too when I wasnt looking. :rolleyes1 I need to have a talk with him or her?? Our dog has more treats than we do and so many toys it is like when we had babies in the house. MESSY!!!
will talk with you guys later, I'm going to relax while the quiet lasts, :cloud9:

Kathy, unfortunately, you will be trying to find and a him AND a her! We've both contributed to Guido's spoiledness! But then I see that Minnie is training you very very well ... Guido would be proud!
If you haven't seen it, go to You Tube and search for Bindi Irwin's memorial to her dad Steve. Wow, that kid was remarkable and really held her own. She's a better speaker than I could ever be!
Wendy, you're not allowed to brag about spa treatments and lunch with the girls when there are others in the room that have to sit at a desk for the day! :sad2: How's Dad doing anyway?
Bob, ya gotta get those dogs to understand that they should only enjoy those things that cost Mom and Dad MORE money, not less! Geez, Guido and Minnie have that figured out! I mean, Guido doesn't settle for regular Milk Bones ... Oh no! Not for King Guido! Daddy buys him roasts and cooks them on the grill! (side note: believe it or not, pound for pound, buying cheap roasts at Sam's Club actually costs less than regular doggie treats!) :dogdance:

what's this about dairy queen??
I use to be a manager at Arby's years ago and we had an older couple that came through the drive thru with their doggie and bought him an Arby's junior, Plain, small fries everyday. They would park and use a knife and fork to cut and feed him the Roast beef sandwich. I dont ever remember them getting anything for themselves. :rotfl2:
I keep telling Greg we should stop at Burger King or Wendy's to buy Minnie a treat after she is good getting bathed, but so far, NO luck!!

After years of having to throw out the uneaten 1/2 of their canned 9-LIves every night, I have resorted to buying Fancy Feast in the small cans. I draw the line at serving it on a paper plate sans garnish.

Ok.... guilty as charged. Yes, I took Guido to DQ a few times...(we went last week once while you were at work, dear...forgot to tell ya--I guess Geedee Monkey forgot to mention that too). He's not really as spoiled as Shell says he is (dont even go for the throat by telling everyone about playing "stairs").
No, the best story I think I have is about Sammy. When we lived in Wooster, which is a pretty straight laced rural community, I took Sam to TCBY. I got myself something and asked the girl for a "kiddie" dish of frozen yogurt. When we pulled around, she saw Sammy sitting in the back seat and, really snotty--I'm assuming she thought the yogurt was for a kid, she asked "does he want a spoon?". Being the looney I am, I turned around and asked Sam if he wanted a spoon. He let out a little bark, with ears at attention....I looked the girl straight in the face and told her "he said no, but thanks all the same". Not even a chuckle out her...stone faced serious. I was never really regarded as a native of Wooster....I wonder why?
Enjoy the evening gang....
Bill
btw...on the passporter site, they have an e-book called Disney Cruise Clues...its only $6 to download---its 95 pages and has some pretty good tips.

Hello everyone. Just taking a break from AP United States History Homework. :rolleyes1
This stuff is hard! I've been working on this since 3:00 PM!
I also made up a card game today. It's pretty neat, but is acutally a spin-off of one of my friends games. His was too boring and confusing, so I came up with my own!
As I write up my homework, I'm pretty dazed and tired. :surfweb: Alas, I can only blame myself for procrastinating. :furious:
Hope everyone's day was just dandy. Two more days to go. :)
Night all. :wave2:

There's a funny thread on the main board about DCL Dining Nightmares or something like that. Anyone here who has cruised before have a nightmare story or embarrassing moment? We sat at a four-top for our family so we didn't get to share our meal with another family, but I did see two things that really stuck out for me.
1. There was a family one table over where the mom and dad wore the same outfit to every night. Now I would understand if they only brought one nice outfit or one pair of khaki's or one sundress..but NO these two wore the same white t-shirt and jeans (honestly) to every dinner - even formal night. As I sat there in my tux, i was happy that we didn't have them as table mates. I just would have felt uncomfortable.
2. On "tip" night - there were MANY tables empty and I just wonder if that was people trying to avoid paying the tips (the aforementioned t-shirt and jeans people were among them). Such a shame for these folks who work so hard to serve. We were not thrilled with our main server (Jesse) but really liked our assistant (Walter) yet we still tipped Jesse the "recommended" amount and tipped Walter more than the recommended.
I kept waiting for my kids (the 2 yo at least) to provide us with an embarrasing moment, but they were both little ladies on this cruise. Here's hoping to them doing the same on cruise number two!

We too have noticed that on tip night a lot of people are missing, we wondered the same thing about beating the tip. The lst night on the 7 day the buffet is closed for dinner so they had to have fast foods or room service for their last meal. I always hoped some did the tip at guest services is they truly were doing Palos or something the last night.
Well the dogs took DH for a mile walk, then Poncho swam for 30 minutes and they still have energy to burn!!
but it is almost bedtime anyway,
good night all,

:wave2: Evening all.....well here is my doggie story:
This is before Jack...(our current dog) We had a mutt (sorry Bill) named Sam
a terrier/beagle mix. When we would go on vacation Sam went to "grandma" house. You know how grandma's are. They spoil the kids rotten.....well Sam sure got the treatment. Eggs for breakfast...icecream for dessert and who know's what in between. He loved goin to my folks house. He knew what their car looked like. He would sit by the door when I would say go watch, grandma and grandpa are comming over. As soon as their car would come down the street he would start barking... :) he was such a cutie and a good dog. If you spelled the word OUT, he knew what you were spelling and go sit by the door. My parents didnt know that. So one night when my folks were watching him, my dad said..well I should let the dog o-u-t. Sam ran by the door and sat there looking at him. My dad couldnt belive it. I really miss that dog.
Be back later to keep us posting and bumped

Good Evening All!
Jeff and Kathy -- I, too, have noticed empty tables in the dining room on the last night on both ships. I have the same thought - - they don't plan to tip their servers. But, then I remember, that if we can, Dave and I like to end the last evening at Palo. We tell our servers we'll be at Palo for dinner, but either stop by later or give them their tip on the night before. This cruise, we are at Palo two nights (thanks to our friends' being able to make ressies, too) Wednesday and Friday. It's interesting to read the tipping threads. We had a terrible asst. server 2 years ago, but we still gave her the minimum. We had great tablemates and found humor in her lack of common sense, lack of smile, forgetfulness, etc.
No horrible tablemate story, other than one cruise we were seated with another couple who demanded a detailed accounting of each item on the menu. In addition, they were never on time to late seating. Thus, we were seldom done with dinner before 10:30.
Last September, we sat with 3 DISers. It wasn't preplanned, but we made spontaneous rearrangements once we boarded.
Talk to all  heads tomorrow.

I know we could have done it at breakfast the next moring, but I felt better about doing it that night so they KNEW we were not going to walk out on it.
I can't understand trying to cheat the people who have worked so hard for a week to help you have a great dinner. Its not like the tips are THAT much per person, per server... (you spend more on a game of bingo!)
We have been watching our friends 3 kids this week. We have got them hooked on the food network :thumbsup2 The oldest (9) had asked me what I watched on tv one time and I had told him about Throwdown with Bobby Flay, and they all thought it sounded cool. So I taped Iron Chef America for them that night, and we have watched something each night since from the food network. (they didn't love Rachel Ray, I think because she is a girl, and girls are still "gross")
So tomorrow night we are going to have our own "Pizza Throwdown" Each kid is going to design and make their own pizza and they will be "judged" on looks and taste. The kids already make their top secret designs (and are VERY protective of them!)

Good Morning!!!!
Just read a thread on the main DCL board about Spirit Air's "Dead Presidents" sale. Check it out as they're offering, for example, on 4 different days flights from Detroit to Orlando $1.00 each way. Of course, there are limited flying days, but if you're planning another trip, it may save some big $$$. Some fares are higher, $20 to Vegas. None of the dates work for me, though.
Have a great day everyone.

That is so funny because Food TV rules in my house. I love the Pizza throwdown idea and wish we could figure out a way to do it for my DDs sleepover birthday party this weekend without causing my wife and I bodily harm with 8 girls in the house. The food network was made for kids. Both of my DDs love it. My 8 year old (yes she is turning eight in 3 days *sniff sniff*) has been watching it since she was three. She prefers it to almost everything else when she is watching her bedtime allotment of a little tv to settle down before reading books. My 2 1/2 year old also loves it - especially Rachel Ray.

Good morning Banana Heads
Jeff, loved your story about the t-shirt and jeans people. Honestly, what is with some people?! But I'll give them the benefit of a doubt and guess that one piece of their luggage was missing (I'm such a sucker!). After reading some of your posts about bad servers, I tried to understand, but on our family cruise last year we had the BEST servers and they instantly became a part of our family! I looked at Bill last night and said, "What if we get bad servers on this cruise?" He said, "Don't worry about it! We'll all make our own fun with all these crazy DISnuts :thumbsup2 !"
We love Food Network, too. Athene, that idea for the pizza throwdown is awesome!! Let us know how it works out. For me, I'm an Alton Brown gal. I love watching him and learning the chemistry of cooking. If there are AB groupies, well then I guess I'd be in the front row ... screaming my head off! :rotfl2:

Good Morning All!
Speaking of drive-thrus, the Kroger (grocery store for those who don't know the name) where DW and I get our prescriptions filled has a drive-up window. Like most similar drive-thrus, they have a jar of suckers for children, but this one also keeps a jar of dog bones for those customers with furry children. So, everytime we go, we get three dog bones with our prescriptions!
Another dog story: I normally eat cereal for breakfast, and DW does a lot as well. When we do this, we will typically eat in the living room. The three dogs will bounce back and forth between us waiting on us to finish, and then they get upset if they don't get to finish the milk out of the bowl. I know, some find it gross, but it saves on electricity and water for the dishwasher! :lmao:

Ok I'll give you my dog story.
We got a dog after the last cruise in November. Named it Pike (Pikey) after the cruise director on our cruise. The dog actually has a hidden mickey on his back.
I love granny smith apples without the peel. One day I gave the dog one of the peels. He loved it. Thus started a dangerous and endearing tradition at lunch everyday. I live about 5 miles from work and go home every day for lunch. Everyday I have at least one apple. The dog circles me while I cut them up, then me and the dog go into the living room and watch the last half of The Young and the Restless. The minute I sit down on the couch, my dog lays his head on the coffee table and waits patiently for his apple peels. I try my best to throw them to him while he isn't looking or working on his previous peel. I try to make a game out of it, since I am gone all day to work. Its always nice to have someone at home that is genuinely glad to see me, even if it is because I have the apples.
Have a great Thursday, we are expecting storms here for the next three days. We need the rain.

Tonya, I used to have a dog many years ago who loved apple cores. If I ate an apple, he was always given the core to eat. One time, I forgot to give it to him and he pulled the apple core out of the garbage can. That was the last time I fogot!
Isn't it amazing some of the things animals do that brings a smile to our face?

Howdy all. Our dog loves carrots. All I have to do is open a certain drawer in the kitchen and the dog comes running. He knows that the carrot peeler is kept in there. He'll sit and shake the entire time I'm peeling the carrot. I felt so sorry for him when he found out the same peeler works on potatoes! He doesn't care at all for those. I even try to open the drawer ever so quietly so he won't hear it...a running he comes. He can be in a dead sleep and anyone can come into the house and walk away with the tv under their arms and the dog wouldn't move, but get a carrot!
Have a great day. I'm off to try and lose that extra person that keeps hanging on to my thighs! I watched Biggest Loser last night. Makes me want to keep on the move. I hate giving up my peanut butter cups :guilty:

WHY do you even bring this up? You know that you are now REQUIRED to share the details with us! :stir:
It's probably a better story told in person than on a message board, but I'll do my best. When Sam was still with us, he was a 120 lb lab mix with arthritis, but he insisted on coming upstairs to bed with us every night. The problem was going downstairs in the morning was very difficult and painful for him, so we helped him by holding his chest while he came down to alleviate some of the weight from his front legs. So, Guido is watching this, every day. He starts figuring out that Sam's getting special treatment. And even though Guido is completely able-bodied, he would stand at the top of the stairs with this "look" ... "HELP ME! HELP ME GET DOWN THE STAIRSSSSSSSS". And thus started the stairs "game". We walk down backwards in front of him and "help" him get down the stairs. The whole time he has this scared "I could fall!" look on his face. What a drama queen! :sad2:
