We're leaving from Port Canaveral for a cruise on an October Sunday. We'll be driving in on Saturday and will spend one night before hand.

I'm thinking that we might spend the night in a Disney hotel. We'll probably arrive in Orlando 5:00-6:00. We'll need to have dinner somewhere fun (my girls LOVE Beaches and Cream, but I'm open to other suggestions), then we'll have a few hours to play. It'd be good for the kids to do something active after eight hours in the car, and we can "sleep in" the next morning.

We are a family with two girls, ages 9 and 12. We have left-over hopper passes, but I don't really want to "waste" a whole day's admission for an evening -- especially because the parks will close fairly early in October. I'm also not too interested in Pleasure Island; I want to do something kid-oriented.

Would Disney Quest be a good choice on a Saturday night?
What about staying at the Contemporary and watching the fireworks?
Would it be more fun to do a fireworks cruise?
Perhaps we should do the Hoop-de-Doo -- we've never seen that.
Anyone have a non-Disney suggestion?
I wish they had the Not So Scarey Halloween party on Saturday night -- that'd be perfect because we wouldn't have to use a hopper pass.

So, here's the question . . . What would YOU do if you were passing through Disney for just one Saturday night? Remember it's October, so the parks close early.

If you want something active, I would think maybe staying at Yacht or Beach, and doing Stormalong Bay. I understand you can see Illuminations from that area, and then maybe stroll along the Boardwalk. You'd have plenty of options for dinner, as well.

This may not be what you were looking for, but then again it may be what you were looking for. On Saturday nights there is a Saturday night cruise at Old Town. It is about 2 miles from Disney on highway 192. It is a tourist place, with shopping, restaurants, rides, a lot of free entertainment, and of course the cruise. There are between 400 and 600 old classics cruising the streets of Old Town. They play old rock and roll in the streets, and the place is hopping. Lots to do, see, and most of it is free. It's a great place for families. We love it.
