Jiko's food?

Has Jiko's gone back to more african-style cuisuine?
We went to Jiko's right after they opened - food was great.
My sister was there a year ago and said the food was "americanized" and not the selection we had experienced.
Can anyone give me a recent update?

We went to Jiko when it first opened, and have been going back on a regular basis ever since. Our most recent meal there was just last month. Tho the menu has changed here and there, I don't believe it has become "americanized" in any strict sense.
You can easily check out the current menu for yourself. Still sounds "different" from the norm, without being particularly exotic. They also still have that fabulous selection of South African wine, and several beers from Africa as well!!

The only thing I have really found "different" from when it opened is that they have stopped putting pepper in the desserts. It is an African thing that I don't think Americans could grasp. Pepper in my Creme Brulee was a little much for me... Other than that I still find that Jiko is on my list of top 5 favorites at WDW.

We were just at Jiko this past Saturday night. The food was better than ever..pretty much the same menu since it has opened, give or take a few things here and there. The food is classified as New African Cuisine.

Jiko continues to be one of our top 5 places to eat.

We really loved Jiko the first time we went. We raved about it to our friend who was visiting for Thanksgiving. He was really looking forward to it. We went the Friday after Thanksgiving and the service was awful-very surprising! We had a priority seating for 7:40pm and did not get seated until 8:45pm! They were seating walk ins with larger parties first. They finally sat us after I asked a nice couple waiting near us (also for an hour) when their PS was for. They said 7:50pm and they sat them before us! I asked the hostess why they were being seated first and she was SO embarrassed. Bad show. Our waiter also stunk since he was straight out. People were annoyed at him due to the hostess stand. Oh boy! I guess we will not go back on a holiday weekend. The filet was still great:)

We ate there twice last week. It's our #1 restaurant at WDW. Ask to sit at the counter and watch the chefs at work in "The Cooking Place." One of our meals was eaten there. We enjoyed the conversation and activity.
