Since the Thanksgiving Challenge will be coming to an end in a few days I thought it would be nice to get another one going until New Year. I would be more than happy to keep track of everything. If anyone is interested please post to this thread and the day after Thanksgiving I will make an official thread with everyones stats and goals. I'll make up a special clippie for it and post that as well. :) It's only about 5 weeks but we can accomplish a lot in that time frame if we put our minds to it. It also may help us stay focused during the Christmas season. :)

Here is the clippie I made if anyone would like to use it. :)

I am definately interested! Need to loose about 15 lbs and tone by my August 2005 trip. This will be a great start.

I'm in, but my goal may not seem lofty to anyone as I have just 1 pound to go to my WW goal, and maybe a few more after that, so I'd be IN for a few anyway. ;) It'll definately help with maintenance, at the very least, for me! ::yes::

Thanks PM!!! :sunny:

Does it have to be a weight loss goal? I don't think I'm going to be losing any pounds anytime soon. I've been working out everyday and eating low calorie. I'm pretty much stabilized at my weight. Can we use a distance or minute marker as well?

I'm glad you're joining in MsMulan and Kim! :teeth:

PD23, the challenges like this have always been for weightloss since there has been an exercise challenge going on each month for the last several months but if you really don't want to do a weightloss goal I'm not gonna say no, you can't be in the challenge. Let me say though that even if you make your goal 1 pound no one is going to think any less of you and will rejoice and support you all the same whether you get there or not. If I'm not mistaken you are very close to your goal so I know the weight is harder to get off there. Anyway, you are welcome to set a different goal than weightloss if that's what you prefer. We'll support you either way. :)

:wave2: I'm in Michelle but with the holidays I think I will be reasonable. Lets say 6 pounds for me.
I beat the Thanksgiving challenge which was a surprise for me since I was in a Plateau. But it is hard with goodies around and I may have to take a bite every now and then. :worried:

Hi PM

Count me in......could not do the Thanksgiving challenge because of family issues and my emotional eating BUT want to get through the holiday season with a LOSS

Not a huge loss maybe 7lbs and anything above that is gravy!!!

Thanks for doing this.

Have a magical Disney Day!!::MickeyMo

This is my first post to the WISH board, can I join the challenge?

Just a little background--I've lost 59 pounds since 10/03 and I still want to lose another 25. I'm ultra-motivated right now because we're going to DW in February and I want to be as close to my goal as possible (hopefully no more then 10 pounds above goal when we go). I've been really heavy on all my other Disney trips and my feet always hurt so badly after a few hours. This trip is going to be different! I keep thinking, if I lose even another 10 pounds then that will take even more pressure off my feet. I just want to be able to go all day without hurting.

I lost most of the weight doing Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Challenge (I'm a leader of the Atlanta support group). About 5 months ago I hit a plateau and just couldn't seem to lose another ounce. I took a break for awhile and tried to figure out a different strategy. I'm now following an eating plan designed for people with insulin resistance (I have PCOS, if anyone is familiar with that) and it's working very well for me. I also recently joined a gym and have started weight training. These 2 things have gotten my weight loss jump-started again.

My goal is to lose 8-10 pounds by the end of the year. That may be a little ambitious, but I'm going to be working hard.

Welcome aboard, July, Linda, Kim (welcome to WISH too btw!) and PD23, I'm glad you decided to join in. Try to keep a positive attitude. Keep working out and eating a healthy diet, it will come in time. :)

MsMulan, first you need to decide how much you want your goal to be and post it here so I can record it. On Monday of each week I'll post a check in thread and as everyone weighs in during the week they will post to the thread and I'll record their info and update my list. The challenges are really a lot of fun and help keep everyone motivated to do their best. I made a special clippie for the challenge as well, I will post it on the official thread Friday so that if anyone wants to add it to their signature they can. If you have any more questions feel free to ask, or you can pm me if you like. :)

Hey Michelle -

You know me, always up for a challenge :p I think 5 weeks, I could (if I work hard) lose 10 pounds!!!! I thought about doing a Valentine's Day challenge, but I like the New Year's one since it'll be a shorter challenge and it'll keep me focused.

Thanks for doing this.

Welcome to all of the new participants! We've got a great group so far! :teeth:

Since the boards are going to be down for awhile this weekend look for the official thread with everyone's goals on Monday! If anyone has weigh in before Monday, that weigh in can count towards your goal for this challenge since it is after Thanksgiving. I know I weigh in on Saturdays and if I've lost you better believe I'm knocking my goal down a notch! LOL

I'm setting my goal at 14lbs. That would put me under 200 for the new year. I'll do my best to make it! ::yes::

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the clippie, I'm glad you guys like it!

Good luck to everyone! :sunny:

If I've gained, I'm gonna have to UP my goal to lose what I gain, and then still try to lose the lbs needed to make MY goal, and WW goal range. Question though..since New Year's Day is on a Saturday, and I weigh in on Mondays, which Monday is my final 'count', the one before, or the one right after?? I worry because we're having C'mas with the inlaws on New Years Day, besides C'mas itself with My family! YIKES, bad time of year! :(

I'm going to aim for one pound a week between now and 12/31, for a total of 5 pounds. I've been stablized now for about a month, so it's time to get moving downwards again!

By the way, I am proud of myself today. I weigh on Friday mornings, and I thought that surely I would not have lost anything what with Thanksgiving dinner being just yesterday, but lo and behold I was down a pound for the week! Great way to start this challenge!

I'll check in on the weekends - hopefully on Fridays but can't always get to the DIS on a regular basis. I want you to know that I appreciate the effort it takes to keep a challenge list updated, and I'm glad to have the support!

I'm in! Being the holiday season, I'm going to give myself a realistic goal and truly strive for it. Put me down for 4 lbs. If I make that I'll re-assess that goal. However, since I only lost 2.5 for the Thanksgiving challenge.....

Princess Michelle

Welcome Sherri and Hollyann!

I have gotten everyone down along with their goals and am working on getting the official thread posted tonight. If anyone still wants to join in, feel free! :)

I want to join!!!! My goal is to lose the four pounds that I didn't lose from the Thanksgiving Challenge. That would put me at 115 - which I think will be my final goal.

Good luck to everyone. We can do this!!

I am going to add myself for 5 pounds. That would be a good start and, hopefully, keep me focused.

Is there also an exercise challenge each month?

I just found this board... Kept wondering what the WISH clippies were for... Now if I could only figure out how to use them...
