Lately, my lower back has been "tender". Most likely due to the fact that I have not been exercising and am pretty out of shape. So, on the weekends, after I've done a lot of housework, it will be mildly sore. But, it had gotten to the point that it really wasn't bothering me.

Well, yesterday morning I did something to it. It was either carrying the laundry basket upstairs (it wasn't even heavy) or the way I was vacuuming. All of a sudden, I could feel it. Ouch. It is the worst ever.

Now, normally I would pop some Ibuprofen for a few days and it would gradually go away. But, I'm having a needle biopsy tomorrow and the hospital has told me emphatically NOT to take any Ibuprofen-type medications. So, no Advil, Motrin, Aleve, etc. I can take Tylenol. I bought some of that and it only reinforced why I don't have it in the house. IT DOES NOTHING!!!!

So, I barely slept last night because every time I moved I felt like I got a knife in my lower back. I got up this morning and tried to pull some laundry out of the dryer, but it hurts to much. About all I can do is stand up straight, sit straight up. I'm miserable. I want my Motrin.

For those of you who have this trouble, is there anything I can do to make it a little bit better?

Edited to Add--I don't know why I posted this on the WISH board. I meant to post on the Community Board. Sorry!!! I will re-post it over there.

It's hard to tell you exercises you could do without being there to show you how to do them properly but one thing that my physical therapist had me do was put ice on my back. 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off for an hour. It really does help.

Ice, ice, ice! As a low back pain sufferer having herniated 2 discs, ice works. I lay flat on the floor with my knees bent and the ice under the painful area. Stretching excercises are also helpful.

ditto the ice,
what I am wondering is why they said not to take motrin(IBU), it acts as a anti-inflammatory which helps?
must have something to do with the test, maybe could cause more bleeding
