zupgrading from a budget to moderate hotel

I have reservations in september for the Allstar Movie Resort and would like to upgrade to Dixie Landings. I have read other postings about switching hotels when given a better price, my question is: how do I go about changing resorts if I purchased a package deal, with airfare, los pass, etc. How do I get a better price without changing my flights?

I hope this isn't too confusing, I would appreciate any help I could get! Thanks.

I am not a travel agent but I think if you got a package you have very little chance of changing it without incurring some charge for changing.Most of the people who are getting upsell rates are doing room only ressies

Thanks for your response Disneydenise. This is what I was afraid of. Does it make any difference that the package I bought was through the Disney travel?

The upsells and AP discounts are for room only packages.
If you haven't sent a deposit in you might want to consider booking your room and purchasing your passes seperately !
But, if you bought the insurance and have sent in a deposit, you'll forfeit the insurance since it is non-refundable once they get your deposit!

Call and ask about the cancellation policy for your package. Then price everything out separately and watch for discounts. I had originally booked our vacation (8 people, 2 rooms, Resort Magic, Dixie Landings, airfare) through Funjet because I could get lower airfare. Well about a month later airfare went down and I found The Dis. After reading these posts I realized it would be cheaper for us to buy Annual Passes (we're staying 10 days). I cancelled our Funjet package and booked the airfare myself and bought Annual Passes in December. Last week I got in on the upsell at Dixie. After paying a $200 cancellation fee we are still saving $1200!!
