We'll be having dinner at the Garden Grill for the first time next month. How is the food? And, the atmosphere?

Thanks!

We ate there at the bequest of my sister & her family. It wouldn't have been a place I would have chosen, but in this case I would have to admit I was wrong. It is very good for family style dining, and the atmosphere was great. We were seated in one of the booths in the front. I could have sat there all day watching the scenery evolve. Of course, I doubt the people waiting would have liked that, so I'll just have to return to see more. ;)

Ate there with 5 friends and we all loved the food. Great picnic type eats, we were all stuffed when we left. Food is reminiscent of Hoop De Doo Revue's menu if you've been there.

Another vote for the Ice Cream Social! We weren't crazy about dinner. Character interaction at the GG is great and so are the servers.

We've gone there for lunch twice and we love it. Character interaction is great and it's neat to see the changing scenery. I really like the food. We've had good experiences both times we were there.

Here's the menu:
The Land's Home Grown Garden Salad W/ Ranch Dressing (ONLY at Dinner)
Whole Grain Bread (very good)
Grilled Flank Steak (very good)
Country Style Catfish (a little spicy)
Rotisserie Meats (this must be for dinner because we didn't have it)
Chef's Potatoes (excellent)
Seasonal Vegetables (very fresh, excellent)
Cornbread Stuffing (ehhh, so so)
Dessert (we had the cobbler and it was good)
Non-Alcoholic Beverage
Special Meals for the Young'uns Under 12:
Fried chicken strips with steak fries
Macaroni and cheese
Special dessert (it's called worms in dirt... gummy worms stick out of "dirt" (chocolate cookie crumbs) and chocolate pudding--my DD7 loved it)

We had dinner there last February and it was one of our favorites! We though the food was good, the character interaction great (we got almost too much attention, if that's possible, lol), our sever was very good, and we enjoyed watching the scenery go by. We'll definitely go back again!

We ate there on our Honeymoon 8 years ago, and loved it. 3 years ago we took our 4 year old daugther there and also thought it was great. This time we only have the Ice Cream Social planned for here. Never done this so hopefully we like it too.

Always had great food and the price isn't bad for all the food you get. Enjoy!!!!

We tried the dinner in July. Wasn't excited about the menu and the character interaction was so-so. I don't think we'll go there again.

We try to make the Garden Grill every time we go. We just love the veggies and the homestyle food. You never leave hungry for sure. It's something I'd recommend.

The BEST salad and apple crisp at WDW. And if you didn't know, the restaurant slowly rotates (you won't even notice it) so you have differnet views of some of the Land boat ride.

Wonderful. We loved the meal and it was family style all you can eat. My girls didn't care for the desert for kids.

Yes. I have them for our first day at the World. A great way to introduce the kids to the characters.

Do the Ice Cream social. Its only like $7 a ice cream - and its sooo worth it. The interaction with the characters were priceless. It wasn't a quick, sign, autographs, and take a picture. They ALL spent time at our table. Coloring with the children. And even danced. It was wonderful. I loved it there. The automosphere was sort of quiet. The floor spins so the scenery is changing. I went with 4 families and I will go every visit now. Here is a picture of the ice cream. I ate it just a bit before I remembered to take the picture!!! Oh my husband ate the vegetarian meal. He claimed it was the best he'd ate in WDW yet.

We have gone to the Garden Grill for dinner on our last 3 trips. The food was excellent on the first and third trip and good on the second. I love the atmosphere here and would eat here every trip if hubby allowed it:p

We are trying the ice cream social for our trip next month. I was surprised that my first 2 choices of dates were sold out! But we were able to get it.

i have been to the garden grill for lunch on 7 different trips.
those trips were in the months of may, june and september.
we loved the food on those visits. so much thrilled with it we kept repeating it for each trip to disney.

on my 8th visit to garden grill was oct 7 this year and i came out with a completely different opinion then.

i was not aware that the menu changes oct 1 to different foods. ugh.
the fall menu is dissapointing compared to what we had in previous trips.
no rotisserie chicken and no mashed potatoes.
i asked my server what gives and was told the menu is out front as it changes periodically for the season. dumb me, i never read it, just assumed it was what i always had before.

i will go back to garden grill but not in october. it was a let down for me not to have the chicken and potatoe dishes.
now i have to plan next years trip for september to get the menu at gg that i love.

Ice Cream social:

Is held in the same garden grille room, you go to the podium and tell them you have a ps for ice cream social. They seat you just as if for dinner etc.... Then the wait staff comes around and brings your sundaes and the characters stop by YOUR table. Its the farmer mickey / minnie, chip & dale, goofy, pluto. I think that was everyone? They came by several times. Its held in between lunch / dinner 3pm? ish So the characters have a lot of time, you get great pictures. The garden grille has large wrap around booths on lower level, and thats where most people are seated. So its very private with the characters. The resturant rotates over the "land" pavilion. It was a great place to sit relax and get great character attention. The cost is very reasonable considering the cost of most character meals.

Macraven: I didn't realize the changed the menu either. I never got the chicken. I only got the icky stuff. So we didn't like the dinners. So next time, I'm gonna check the menu. Thanks for the info. ;)

Thank you mkymouse4ever!

This is great to know.

Have not eaten at the Garden Grille since the name change. We used to have a great breakfast there when EPCOT first opened.

It was really pretty and the kids loved the rotating.

Thanks again!

Thinking of eating at the Garden Grill for lunch maybe when we go on our Honeymoon in July. I heard about the 're-hitching' ceremony, and thought it would be a cute thing to do... Does anyone know anything about this or what we have to do to be able to get 're-hitched'? Please let me know.. Thought it might be a cute surprise for my FH (who has never been to WDW).

Any feedback is appreciated!! THANKS!
