View Full Version : Has anyone received their marathon packet yet?

11-02-2004, 01:24 PM
Just wondering if anyone had received their marathon packet yet in the mail. I read they should be out at the end of October.

11-02-2004, 01:54 PM
I got mine on Friday. Lots of info!

11-02-2004, 06:17 PM
I received mine in today's mail--boy, did it make it seem real!!

11-02-2004, 06:28 PM
:( Nothing :worried: here. I want my packet!! :sad2:

My long distance training partner in TN has received her packet yesterday. I told her it was no fair because I registered before her AND my last name is before her's in the alphabet. http://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/tongue1.gif

It obviously didn't matter since I didn't get mine today either.

11-04-2004, 07:46 AM
I have a friend that lives in Wisconsin that got her's. I live in Oregon and don't have mine yet..... but I'm running to the mail box everyday to see if it's there!!! :teeth:

11-04-2004, 08:27 AM
Whoa......guess I'd better check my mailbox....haven't been there in a couple of days.

11-04-2004, 08:37 AM
I did get the packet yesterday, live in PA. Did it only include a white paper & booklet? my plastic wrap was opened at the top.

11-04-2004, 10:34 AM
Mine arrived here in NW florida on Wednesday.

Happy trails, everyone!

11-04-2004, 09:45 PM

That's what mine had in it. Actually, everything in the booklet is now on the marathon website. It's the paper that's the important part. Oh, I just noticed that they have some 1/2 Marathon merchandise in the booklet that I didn't notice on the website. It also says you can buy them at the expo. too.

Checking in from Atlanta GA; I received mine a couple of days ago. I am going to put the package in my suit case so that I don't forget it.

Looking forward to January.

11-05-2004, 08:54 PM
still nothing

11-06-2004, 12:02 AM
Looks like nothing west of the ol' Mississip has been sent yet!

ADisneymom- good idea about putting it in the suit case! Thanks for the tip!

I have been RUNNING to the mailbox every day since this has been posted. Nothing for me yet on the North Coast.
:sad1:

I am glad to hear that there will be something merchandise-wise for the 1/2 marathoners. I guess I need to bring additional $.

11-06-2004, 11:48 PM
I haven't received mine yet either. I am in Utah. KareBear, where in Oregon do you live? I am originally from Ontario. It is a small town in Eastern Oregon, on the Idaho border.

11-07-2004, 07:58 AM
I haven't received mine yet, either. I registered early, but I'm in Canada, so that could be why. Canada Post isn't known for being the fastest on the block. Between those two things, I'm hoping that the packet will be here when I hand in my report cards in 2 weeks---something to read before teacher conferences. :hyper:

11-07-2004, 09:21 AM
Oh shoot I saw oHmom yesterday and forgot to ask her but nothing for me in OH yet. What's the deal .......don't they know we aren't into WAITING we want our info so that we keep up the great 'tude with the GOAL! :p

11-07-2004, 09:47 AM
tootsiemolly- I live in Portland, but I have connections to Utah as well! I have a sister that lives in Centerville and my youngest DD goes to school at BYU in Provo. Where do you live? My DH and I will be in SLC this weekend!

11-07-2004, 06:23 PM
Karebear, I live in Draper. Wow what a small world this is. So are you walking or running the half-marathon? I thought from your previous posts you were running. I did my training today. I walked the 3 miles in MFM. Next week I think I am on for 6. Wow, it is hard to be on the treadmill that long. :D But, I am so.. excited to meet everyone at the race.

I got my packet yesterday! My friend who lives 15 miles away got hers on Wed. I was glad to see there will be 1/2 marathon merchandise available to buy at the Expo. There is a really nice map in the packet that shows the mile markers for both the full and 1/2 along with the food and drink stations. I'm going to be studying that map!

I hope the rest of you get yours tomorrow!!!

11-07-2004, 07:13 PM
Cheryl- are the porta potties makred on that map??

Tootsiemolly- I can only WISH that I was running the half! I will be walking- and in the LAST corral as it is. I''m gonna walk as fast as I can as to get away from the dreaded sweeper machine!

11-07-2004, 07:24 PM
We live in Texas, and we still have not received our packets. I hope it comes this week! princess:

Karen I got out the map and there is no mention of where the port a potties are, I'm wondering if they are at the same places as the beverage stations. For the 1/2 marathon it looks like there are 8 beverage stations and 1 food station ( the food station is at mile 9). There are also 6 first aid stations along the 1/2 marathon route. One thing I found interesting is that in the booklet it mentions that you should avoid taking Ibuprofen and Naproxen 24 hours before and 48 hours after the race. I had never heard this before. They recommend taking Acetaminophen before, during and after the race. I'm going to have to give one of my brothers (they are both pharmacists) a call about this and see what they say.

Any other ??? I'll do my best to find the answer in the booklet.

11-08-2004, 08:40 AM
I'm in Maryland still haven't received mine yet.:(

11-08-2004, 09:22 AM

No other questions for now- but thanks for thinking of me!

11-08-2004, 08:16 PM
I got my packet today! Anyone else?????? Jackie? How about you? Did you get it?

11-08-2004, 10:30 PM
Nothing for me yet, but I'm in Ontario and they have my old address so the "forwarding" to my new address sometimes adds a couple of extra days to the regular mail

Cheryl ..... thanks for finding out about the ibuprofen thingy. I was nursing a sore sciatic (sp?) nerve (aka my left butt-cheek hurt) during the 1/2 in Niagara and I did take Advil during the race.

Does anyone know if someone from home will be able to "track" us on-line that morning based on our race number? I have some friends who are asking.

11-08-2004, 11:20 PM
Nope, don't have mine yet. Just got back from Chicago today and was hoping it was in the mail.....but not yet.

I have to decide in the next week or so, how long I'm actually going to stay in January. Have 10 days available, but am now thinking of doing 1/2 that and going back in April, right before my AP expires......what a delightful delima.

I talked to my pharmacist brother (the one who is also a marathon runner) and he did say that you really only need to worry about taking Ibuprofen close to a long hard workout if you let yourself get dehydrated because Ibuprofen can be hard on the kidneys and if you are dehydrated it could affect them. He told me as long as I make sure to be well hydrated before, during and after the race I should be OK with taking my Advil, that's what he uses. I guess I'm really going to need to know where those port a potties are on race day. And speaking of port a potties make sure you take them into consideration when you are deciding on what clothing to wear on the day of the race. I had bought a pair of "running shorts" that have the tighter more supportive fitting shorts built into the nylon outer shorts and I thought they were great because they did give my thighs a bit more support but then one day when I was doing a longer walk and had to swing by home to use the bathroom they were harder to pulldown and back up because they were sweaty and tighter, I decided right then and there that pair of shorts would not be going with me in Jan. The quicker in and out of the port a pottie the better ;)

11-09-2004, 10:20 AM
What is this marathon that everyone is talking about? Do they actually have a 26 mile run at WDW?

11-09-2004, 10:24 AM
Pixiedust23- YES! WDW holds an annual marathon/half marathon that they do the second weekend of January. This coming January about 40 of us WISHERS are all going down and walking the half marathon together! Isn't that fun!!!

If you go here

you can find info about the marathon for this coming January. Unfortunately, registration has been closed for now.

11-09-2004, 11:03 AM
Wow that's great! O don't worry I'm not up to runnin even 13 miles yet, I'm only at about 8.5 miles. I actually can't run on the road for long at all b/c my knees and ankles swell up. Bad joints from 10 years of cheerleading. Don't ever let anyone tell you cheerleading isn't a sport!

11-09-2004, 11:20 AM
Still nothing for me
Anyone know what happens if we don't receive our packet? I do have my confirmation sheet from when I registered online. :worried: My sister got her packet. My friend in TN got her packet and she registered a month after me! :sad2:

11-09-2004, 11:46 AM
No packet for me either:mad: I am blaming my mailman (cuz I don't have anyone else to blame)

OHmom has her's even!

11-09-2004, 08:36 PM
No packet here, either.:(

11-10-2004, 12:23 PM
My DH and I both received our packets yesterday! It is certainly getting real now. princess:

11-10-2004, 01:00 PM
I printed out some of the information from the website and the Spectators page says the half marathon finishes in the Pluto parking lot at the MK but on the map it has it finishing just before the Polynesian. Does anyone know which is correct. Trying to plan on where my family will need to meet.

I still haven't received my packet yet. Maybe today?

11-10-2004, 03:20 PM
I was discussing this with a friend the other day! We decided that the map is not propotional really. There is no place to put parking for MK on this map. Follow what the book says- have them meet you in the parking lot PLUTO.

11-10-2004, 04:45 PM
In the past it has finished in the parking lot and is scheduled to do so this year. If you are with Team in Training, will you receive your packet at home or will you get it through TNT when you travel to WDW? Our TNT group just sent in our registrations in late October - apparently the marathon sets aside a big block of slots for groups like TNT. I understand that about a third of the participants in the Nike marathon in SF were wearing TNT purple.

I got my packet! Now it does seem real. I'm trying to not stress. As the time gets near, I am feeling a bit breathless. I am sure I will settle down by the time I get there only to start up that morning.

11-11-2004, 05:00 PM
I sent an email about not receiving my packet yet and this was the response. Hopefully I will be getting my soon.

The packets are still being sent out. There was a delay on our end getting them out in time. If you still do not receive yours within the next few weeks, please send an email to emmi2@emmi.com with your information and they will send out a new one to you.

11-12-2004, 01:29 AM
Okay, now I'm getting scared! Not only have I not received my packet, but I didn't receive the confirmation sheet geetey spoke of either! :earseek:

I also just recently found out I was supposed to have been getting emails?? None of those, either! :earseek:

They sure took my money, though! :( I registered way back in January (or was it March?) when registration first opened!!

Anybody know who I should email about this???

Yes, the e-mail address listed in the previous post. My travel friend has never received any of the e-mails either....I've been forwarding them to her, but I do have a confirmation number for her from when we registered.

Hi Debbie!
The confirmation sheet I am talking about is the registration confirmation. I printed it off the computer after registering. It starts with...

Thank you for registering for the 2005 WALT DISNEY WORLD Half Marathon This is your registration receipt. Please note that this charge will appear on your credit card statement as signmeup.com. Keep this page for your records. It goes on to state the confirmation number, registration date, subtotal, processing fee, total payment, user name.

Look for something like that, not something you would have received in the mail. You would have printed it off the computer after payment.

Hope that helps! :wave2:

11-13-2004, 09:09 PM

I am SO excited!! I got my packet in the mail today!! I don't know how on earth I am going to finish this blasted marathon in the alloted time, but I am SO happy to get my packet!

Bev, did you get your packet yet?

11-13-2004, 10:38 PM
   I want mine......I NEED mine.

I haven't been so dilegent about checking my mail box every day in a long time!

11-14-2004, 12:55 PM
Nothing here, yet....and no email EITHER!   I'll keep looking! 8 weeks from now it will be ALL over. :Pinkbounc and we can head to the parks to celebrate our starting the half/marathon! YEAH!!!

11-14-2004, 04:00 PM
Did get it the other day - Friday. I actually saw Molli's and somehow after I saw it, I was just like "okay" when it gets her- that will be okay. I was expecting "more" so I am really glad that I was looking for it and didn't throw it out with the junk stuff!

BUT, I say make a copy of the paper (we are to take to swap for the official number) and leave it with someone who can fax it to you if there is any kind of problem! I am going to make "several" and stash them everywhere (carry on - with my shoes - in my suitcase) yes Molli I know you are saying - ah yes - that would be my DM but I just don't want to get there and not have it!

Cheryl - thanks for the ibubropen info - I take naproxin and wondered if it has same reaction - I have dr appt thought I would ask him when I go.

Oh shoot there was another question I wanted to comment on and now I forgot what it was - gotta go re-read last week's.

I remember -

It was about chip time while the event is happening. My DH and I have tried to track friends several different times and never have had any success - so I say don't count on it. Also, chip time and clock time will be different since chip time starts when one crosses the start line.

My understanding is that the numbers are associated with corral placement which was based on your estimated finishing time--what your number means as far as which corral, I don't know...I wonder if that is how they are sending the packets out.

What did you put down as your estimated finish time (for full or half?)?

I'm with Leukemia Team in Training--our slots were held for us, but I wasn't "officially" registered until last week--have no idea when I'll get my packet :(

11-15-2004, 11:31 PM
Got mine today. Woo Hoo!!! :hyper:

11-15-2004, 11:33 PM
I think I registered within the first 12 hours of registration opening up! But I put my time as 3:30.....so I'm in the last corral, just figured that they assigned numbers that way too.

I think I'll start getting up VERY early for my Saturday morning distance walks....might as well try and start a pattern...of course, I'll be walking in the pitch dark  Maybe I should putter around the house for a while first. At the marathon we'll be awake a good three hours before the race starts.

11-16-2004, 10:56 AM
Jackie- that 3 hours early is just about killing me! i just ahve this awful feeling by the time we start, I'll want to lay down and take a nap! I want to get there as early as we can that morning so we can be in the FRONT of the last group.... as far away from the sweeper as humanly possible for our group!

Maybe they left that last 1000 just for us WISHers! I've got to convince my body that it needs to co-operate now.

11-22-2004, 11:15 PM
OK I am worried now myself, I havent recieved anything yet..Im in New York.................
any other ny er's?

11-23-2004, 06:53 AM
I emailed and got a response the same day. I didn't realize I hadn't changed my address with them and they said that since they were shipped bulk mail that it wouldn't be forwarded. They also said that all packets had been shipped out and anyone who contacted them would be researched and then reshipped sometime the end of Nov. or early Dec. So my advice would be to email the address below and check on your status. Good luck!

11-23-2004, 09:29 AM
Mine was waiting for me when I got home from Disney on the weekend. I'm number 23008. My three sisters and I are all in a row. It looks like 23000's will be the last corral. We'll just have to have our own party while we wait for the race to start. I'll bring the power bars and some blankets to sit on. Anyone else????

11-23-2004, 09:46 AM
I'll bring the hard stuff Susan- GATORADE all around!

11-23-2004, 11:03 PM
I'm heading to the dollar store this weekend....looking for a blanket and whatever else may catch my fancy......gloves, scarf etc. Will be picking up some sample of assorted 'energy boosters'...haven't started experiementing with them yet and time is running out ::yes:: Am going to start getting up 'way early' on my distance days too, so that 3AM won't be such a shock to the system.....perhaps I'll get a little housework done between breakfast and the start of my walk!

11-23-2004, 11:28 PM
Jackie- did you see Tw1nsmom's post about making scarves for everyone? She'll do it for you for free- and they can just be tossed to the side of the road when you don't want it any longer.
Also- Target has a $1.00 spot at the front of the store with the cutest little $1.00 gloves- try looking there too!

11-23-2004, 11:54 PM
Thanks! I'll look for the post and the gloves! Now I have to hit the hay....5:30 comes around pretty darn fast ::yes::

I just got my official packet yesterday (Team in Training group registers in late October--so mine finally got through!!).

I am running the full--my number is 7575...I put down 5:00 as my ETC...but a friend of mine who did that as well and registered through the regular registration process has a number in the 4000s--so I guess I got bumped a few corrals or something! I'll find out at packet pick up when I get my corral number/letter assignment with my #.

12-19-2004, 09:59 PM
finally got mine, I am number 23083!!!!!
