My passport is about to expire, does anybody know if they are still on strike?

Not now. I got my passport early last week or late the week before. It took about 3-4 weeks from the time that I sent for it (by mail) which was during the strike. My sister took her family's in personally and had them back within 10 days. Yeah for the passport office!

We got our passports last Tuesday. It only took 5 working days. However, it's my understanding that they haven't settled their contract yet. There is a vote taking place over the next few weeks and if the membership turns it down, they could be back out on strike. I would definitely get into the office ASAP. I know we have federal government workers on the DIS. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

I would go right away in person, if possible. We are voting in a few weeks (CRA) so I would think Customs will be right behind us and from what I understand, the Union is urging them to vote the contract down as there are roll backs and wage freezes so go now!

Don't worry!
I went to the passport office the Friday of the strike week. I was worried that I wouldn't have my passport if the strike continued but the guy told me that even on strike people were working on them and there shouldn't be any delays. I got it within 7 days.
Anyways, as to possible strike in the future, the voting will be done on such a long period of time (ex. Table 1's voting dates are up to Jan26 then they'll have to count the votes....) Where I work, we actually don't expect to be back on strike or have an agreement before March-April!

I just went today, will have it by the 18th at the lastest, although we have plenty of time before the trip didn't want to get stuck!!
