Or you can cut and paste and make a document.

Then when the ads come out on Thanksgiving day, compare what is bogus/non bogus

With the non bogus info, you can compile a spreadsheet. As the spreadsheet is compiled, you can gather all the sale papers, maps of stores, and good locations so you can do you shopping.

I also stake out the store the last hour before closing prior to Black Friday. I walk around, and see where they are putting stuff. I can find where Target is putting the "big items" out on Wednesday evening around 9:45 pm. I then sketch that out on my map.

last year the list was pretty accurate. I do not think Circuit City is correct, it looks like only dvd's and all the same titles that were last year's sale items.

Also I do not think Walmart is correct. I am looking for one of those portable dvd players and the only place I could find one was in Costco's ad. I KNOW if they are running then at least one of the lower priced places most likely would have it. I am thinking Walmart or Circuit City or even Best Buy they had one last year.

Can you post the details of the portable DVD player at Costco. I just bought a Mintek 8" and am wondering if it's going on sale with that coupon. I'm not the primary on the Costco account so I didn't get a coupon. I can get one if I need too. Just need the details on what Costco is offereing on that portable DVD.

Thanks

Bella the Ball 360

I did not get the coupon yet but I am 99% sure the brand they carry is the MITEk. Does anyone know a website where I can compare the individual brands of personal dvd players against each other? I know there was one I used last year for digital cameras but I cannot remember what it was.

My DH works in the appliance department at Sears and said "Yes, all Kenmore will be 20% off" - but remember, that is off REGULAR price (just in case - I don't want to get yelled at.

I KNOW for a fact that Best Buy doesn't sell Sony Clie any more and that is shown on their list, so it is probably last year as well.

Cindy B
11-07-2004, 07:11 PM
The Kenmore BF sale is a old standby for BF. I do go into Sears, and use that sale every BF.

Yes, Best Buys is last years. They haven't had the Clie in ages.

I geneally go to a friends on Thanksgiving and we just hit the big mall so I don't get to do the great sales at Walmart, Target etc...

That Sears Toshiba 46" hdtv is a deal ($999.00) - I've been pricing tvs now for about two years and the lowest I've seen that model has been around $1,198 - it needs a stand though (it's a table top).

Too bad the economy is so bad for us that I can't even afford it on sale right now....

Bella the Ball 360
11-08-2004, 04:36 PM
WEll if Radio Shack is at 129 for a 7 inch then you KNOW someone else will have a better buy. They usually are not the cheapest or if they are it is usually not the best quality.

I have also been looking for a portable DVD player for my twin DD's. The only place that I can find a dual screen player is at Walmart. Their website (and the store) have it listed under the name of Durabrand, not Venturer although through my research, including ebay I think they are one in the same.

Now, my other question is Walmart offers two portable DVD players that have two screens, both made by Durabrand. One is for $278.00 that does not come with a battery. The other sells for $298.00 and it does come with a battery. I'm wondering which one is in the BF ad?

We would rather have the one with the battery so we could take it on our next airplane trip to WDW!!

Okay, BF shopping question for you ;-)

Can you go into the 24 hr Walmarts an hour or so BEFORE the official starting sale time (which is normally 6am right?), and put the items in your buggy? Then check out at 6am?

There are only a few things I really want, like the boys jeans, and I really don't want to fight for them.
Unfortunately this Friday after Thanksgiving I will have my kids with me---no babysitter,no alone time for this girl !!

I don't think anyone has seen the target and KBtoys add yet. Our Walmart does not close Thanksgiving day , they only close Christmas I believe, so going one hour earlier in the morning should not be a problem.

Bella the Ball 360

I do not think Walmart closes for TG. I know a couple of years ago we walked in the door at 6 am and all the things we wanted were gone!! I raised holy He**. They told me the people were lined up since 3 am! That is really kind of unfair. I think that they should close and then reopen. I had wanted a particular digital camera and when I went to the camera dept at 605 they told me that they had only 50 cameras and they were gone at 6 am. That was physically impossible since it is impossible to ring up 50 sales in 5 minutes!! I went all the way to the area supervisor and they finally gave me a camera that was worth double the one I had wanted. I do not care a store should give everyone a fair chance and this one did not. I do not care if they say limited quantities..if one is there when the door opens and in the area less than 5 minutes after it opens there is no way they were not selling before the time.

How our store does it (we dont close thanksgiving) is that the Blitz stuff is all prepped (unboxed etc) in back, palletized, then Saran Wrapped. Its brought to its designated location (they spread it throughout the store so not all toys are in toys so the store gets hit not just toys and electronics) about 5:15-5:30 and several overnighters/mgmt is assigned to every section and they guard it till about 5:58 when it gets un-shrinkwrapped. At 6 they jump outta the way ASAP and the "fun" begins. The amounts we get for each item is varied so how long it lasts depends on the item-

Our Walmart's close-- even our 24hr ones. I always thought Walmart was really good about having a lot of their items in stock-- especially the electronics, bikes, and such. Better than a lot of other places anyhow.

I have gone back to our Walmart in the evening on BF and found many items that were from the 4 hr a.m. sale still there and still at the special price. I guess our Walmart's just aren't as busy.

mrsbornkuntry
11-15-2004, 09:05 AM
Last year our Walmart had skids of BF stuff spread out throughout the store. I didn't get there until after noon and I was disappointed because I thought they had run out of a dvd player I wanted, but I ended up finding an almost full skid of them in the grocery center aisle. I did a happy dance right there in the store :) I get stressed shopping when there's alot of people (I usually have at least two kids with me) so I usually avoid the BF sales or go later in the day and end up missing alot of deals, but I like to check anyway. That would be perfect if I could do it online!

I'd like to know if that's a Gameboy Advance SP or not, too, I need to buy two of them and wouldn't pass up that price.

Must vary from one Wal Mart to another. Our 24hr Wal Mart closes on TGiving (though I can't remember what time exactly--maybe around 4pm?) and reopens at 6am on BF. The line outside is always long, even as early as 3 or 4am, and it's ALWAYS cold.

Our local Walmart does not close of Thanksgiving Day. As mentioned by others, people get to the store at 3-4:00am and stand in line to get the "good stuff". By 6:15 the sale items are gone.

This happens almost every year. In some cases the store didn't release the sale information, and it may be misinformation- then customers come in and say I want Product X for $XX.XX because I saw it on the Internet for that price... When the retailer never advertised said item for said price. In other cases the information may be correct but was leaked to someone and then made its way onto the Internet and compromised the timing strategy of the retailer's marketing plan.

I agree TOTALLY!! I have seen all the black friday ads and there is absolutely NOTHING worth getting out that early for.

All the toys that I have on layaway are NOT on sale anywhere and probably won't be. Doesn't mean I'll stay at home all day but I sure won't be there at 6:00am

Got my walmart ad today. Five hour sale black friday. They've got the game boy advance for 39.99. Ive been seeing it no less than 70.00 so Ill be there first thing.

That is not for the SP and that $39.99 is regular price at Target. No use rushing out for that. The SP gameboys are at $79.99 now if that helps.

FYI: My WalMart and Target both sell the GBA for $69.99 (online too) so I think 39.99 is a really good price.
(The GBA SP is usually $79.99)

Received the Wal-Mart Black Friday ad over the weekend and saw that Kodak Easyshare DX4530 digital camera for $198, incl. docking station. Was able to order it on-line and it arrived today via UPS!

Now no need to fight the Black Friday crowds! Shipping was $7+, well worth sleeping in. Not too late to order -- they are still in stock. Haven't opened yet, but only thing worth noting is that based on the box, it looks like the camera is black, although the print and on-line ads showed it to be silver.

PolyHereWeCome,
Thanks for the tip. I just ordered one for my daughter and did not have to get up early or stand in line!

I am usually so excited for the sales but as of yet I am not too impressed. Will decide tomorrow when the paper comes if I will be venturing out Friday.:(

Anyone think that I could pricematch this deal at TRU? I have a big giftcard that I need to use to buy a GBA SP with... TIA :earsgirl:

crs7568 - Your daughter will love it!

Within the hour, we've taken pictures and video (fyi, the battery is included but has little or no charge, so don't be worried if the camera doesn't initially work). Only additional purchase we'll make is to buy a 128 MB memory card, and possibly an inexpensive camera case.
