Just wondering....

What are you best tips on winning the battle of the mind.

I know all the reasons I should, and all the ways I could but I always seem to find my self falling back into the same old destructive patterns.

As everyone else is I am VERY Busy, work full time as a high school teacher, I have a new book this year so my prep time as increased drastically. I run two girl scout troops, and just cant fing the time or energy for myself.

Believe me! I know how hard it is! My husband has been working out of state (we're relocating) since March....I've been on my own every weekday and some weekends with my three children (9, 6,5) and homeschooling each...not to mention all the activities...but you just have to jump in and do it...after 8 months of thinking I was too busy to diet (packing, keeping a house in show condition at a moment's notice, etc.) I finally looked in the mirror and said ENOUGH!

I'm on day 7 of induction (very low carbs) after 14 days I plan to do a modified South Beach...just adding berries, nuts, and whole wheat bread very sparingly. It helps to have a goal...for me it's a great last trip to Disney at the end of January...also I bought some great jeans/pants on sale (normally $78 for $12!) in sizes 8-10-12...hanging in my closet just waiting for me to wear them. I also pray daily that God will give me the strength to not "give in"...I can't believe it but this will be the first Halloween I won't want a drop of chocolate...you see tomorrow is my weigh day and knowing I worked so hard this first week I won't want to ruin it!

I'm trying to add in walking (injured my back 2 months ago and finally feel up to it) and that helps immensely..nothing like feeling that flab melt off your buns! :)

Come to WISH!! If you have a craving, come here! They were such a huge part of me losing 55 pounds last year and they're going to be there when I scream GOOOoooooooooaaaal in the year 2005.....you can do this..it's in you and concentrate on what you're gaining (healthier heart, better eating habits, more energy for all those girl scout meetings)...the losses will be in the extra fat hanging on for the ride...kick that fat out of here! :)

It's us or the fat! Let's kick it!

I try to take things one day at a time. I can't focus on tomorrow or next week, only today. I have been known to tell myself, "if you wake up tomorrow and still want that treat then you can eat it."

I never wake up still wanting that treat. That's how I made it past all of the popcorn vendors at WDW.

It also helps that there is nothing in my house to tempt me. My pantry has been "Atkins proofed".

Take it one day at a time and come here to WISH as often as you can. We'll help you.

Thank you for all the kind advice....I am going to start my journal today....

one day at a time is definitely how I am going to have to try...and I am going to really have to teach my self to plan for food. I have fallen into the "busy" trap....I plan 5 different lesson plans each day, two girl scout meetings, and coordinate the girls schedules so the last thing I feel like doing is counting points.....but it is that attitude that has gotten me 50lbs over weight. So right now I have set a few simple minded 1st week goals.
1. Water Water Water right now I am not drinking any :( yikes

2. Meals not snacks......My diet is incredibly unbalanced and on the go.....

3. Walking three am a week....Last year I walked for 3months
straight everymorning for 20-30 minutes and only lost a minimal amount of weight! Very discouraging .

4. Lastly, I am going to call my doctor make an appointment for a
physical and beg to see an endo specialist, I have had thyroid issues in the past....and become discouraged with my doc. not being able to help successfully...so I have drop the ball on that too.

If I can handle these few things for the first couple of weeks, I will research the boards and figure out how to do the WW thing.l there is not a meeting in my area, but I am thinking their will be enough web info that I should be able to piece the program together.

Thanks again everyone , best to all of you this week!

I understand that you can do WW online now.

One day at a time, one minute at a time, if you need. You can do this!

I would like to think that I've won the battle of the mind, but sometimes I slip. Boy do I slip. However that being said, I just keep on trying. I have to tell myself the things that I know will benefit me rather focusing on the negative. Hang in there, the other's are right when they say, one day at a time.

some like him, some dont'..........I do so I find my Dr. Phil Ultimate Weight Solution audiobook a great help in keeping me on the right thinking. i listen to it over and over when i'm down and struggling until his suggestions come to mind on their own! this is huge struggle for me; i was there on the mindset last fall and I remember it and I miss it!

How to win the mind game? Tough question. I know when I'm dragging my feet to get to the gym, I think of how I feel the moment I step off the eliptical machine after running. If you can take a mental picture one day as your stepping off the machine you use and all your muscles are still tight and you feel that elation of having accomplished your goal, I think you'll be good! That's all I need to get my butt to the gym.

On many days I wonder the same thing. It is most difficult when food is all around us and we must eat. It seems that you have a plan. If you stick with that plan and continue from there you will beat this and truly become healthier for it. The big thing for me is movement. If I cannot exercise, I see that scale begin to creep up. I dislike feeling forced to exercise, yet I know it is best for me. I have made up my mind to not think of what I LIKe in this manner. It is what MUST be done in order to achieve success.

As has already been said, one day at a time, one step at a time and be proud of the good things you are accomplishing. You can do this.

Best WISHes to you. Keep on keepin' on.
