I was wondering if anybody could tell me exactly how much Pal Mickey is in WDW. I have a friend who is leaving for WDW tomorrow and am debating whether to have her pick one up for me. They seem to be going for pretty cheap on e-bay. What do you all think?

We paid $60 for ours. My DD3 loves him. :wave2:

I saw them recently at Disney's Character Warehouse at the Dolphin Mall in Miami for about $27.99. If you have an outlet store near by you might want to give them a call.

Has anyone else done this?
I was planning on getting one when I go in December and while this seems like a great deal I want to make sure it's the same thing. Does it come already activated? If there's something wrong with it will they replace it at WDW?

Any more info? I would like to know also.

I am going to do some more digging but I think $40 is most likely the best you can do.

I may just wait and try to find the outlet mall if it is convenient to get to to save on shipping. But it sure would be fun to play with him on the plane!

The phone number above is to: Disney's Character Premiere. I tried calling but got a message that no one was available. I will try later to try and get more info.

Thanks:wave:

I am very interested in knowing if you purchase this ahead of time will they still service ( I read where some people had to take their's to a CM when he wasn't working right) it or help you with it there, is it the same thing and is it already set up. Anyone with info on this please help.

UPDATE: Just received my Pal Mickey in the mail that I ordered from the # mousefan posted. That was extremely quick - I just ordered it 3 days ago. It is the same one that I saw for sale at WDW when I was there in May. It works just fine ~ no problems at all.

Mousefan - thanks sooo much for posting the #. It is really a great deal even with the shipping cost.

Thank you so much for all of the info guys!!! We just called and ordered one and they couldn't have been nicer or more professional if they tried. I was nervous having something shipped from a regular b&m store, but they assured us that they send out dozens of these a day and they are already in the process of shipping ours since they have a UPS shipment going out within the hour. How cool is that! Can't wait to get it :earsgirl:

I just bought mine! I can't wait! What a savings and we get to play with him early. We're doing the Land/Sea package. 3 days on land and 4 days on the Wonder. Does anyone know if there he'll work on the ship? I mean, will he alert you if characters are close by, what times things are? That would be too cool!

Quick tip I received from a CM on our last trip.

No matter when you bought your Pal Mickey, bring him to any store where they sell them, and he can be updated with all the latest information.

I was told that sometimes things will change from week to week, like times for shows, parades and fireworks. And of course every now and then a new ride or attraction opens (Stitch anyone?)

I did not realize that they could be updated like that. I think it is free, so even if you have a new one, it does not hurt to get him updated.

JRLINK3
11-05-2004, 07:14 PM
When I ordered mine last night I asked about the updating. I was worried that I would get last years model and that he wouldn't be up to date. I was told that what you need to do is that right after your go through the turnstyles in any of the parks, you should hold him up facing the park and he will the automatically download all of the new information. She said that there were sensors that do this. Technology never ceases to amaze me! Of course, that's the magic of Disney!

I was a little nervous but ordered mine as well.
They told me that Disney is just trying to unload overstock before the new ones arrive.
I can't believe people are getting them so fast. We leave 20 days from when I ordered so we definitely should be OK.
Thanks for the tip!

What a great Tip!!! I ordered one for my girls as a Christmas Present...(We leave the end of January)!! Didn't know "Mickey" has something to say about so many places!!!

I got the nicest CM at the store...He said, "I know, you want me to ship you a Pal Mickey" :hyper: He said they have been getting so many calls...Said he heard it was posted "someplace":smooth:

Anyway...He also mentioned that the supply was getting low so if anyone is thinking about it..better call soon!!::yes::

So glad all of these Pal Mickey's are going to Good homes!!!

If anyone uses the one they picked up on sale..please post!! Would love to hear how he works!!!

We had the opportunity to try one out for free with a coupon I had. I honestly didn't think my DD6 would be too interested in him for that long, so we got him for the day we were in Epcot. My daughter does not like this park (except for Test Track), but she had a blast that day informing us of all the cool things Mickey was telling her about the countries. Every trip back she has drove me crazy wanting to get one!! So, thanks for the info - I just ordered her one for Christmas!

From what I remember, it's around $8 a day - but you have to pay a $60?? deposit when renting it.

And, I saw a thread earlier that said they were planning to stop the rentals - not sure when or if that's even true.

Yes, it's $8 for the day. We just rented one last week. You have to give them a $60 deposit so keep that in mind. You will get back $51 and change due to tax.

THANK YOU very much. My dd-10, has been saving for months for a Pal Mickey. I originally told her that the PM would be approx. $60 plus tax. I just ordered her the PM from the number above and since she has really wanted to use her own money, I let her know she saved over $20 but she can pay me back the almost $40 so she still used her own money :)

I am renting a Pal Mickey for the 10 days we are there for $10 total (through a Pal Mickey swap :) ) and thought for $10, the kids (I also have a ds-6) could share. But my dd really wanted one of her own.

Thank you for posting the number. They told me it is being shipped UPS ground which is 3 days :)

Thank you all again :)

allearsnet.com in their newsletter this week has said that as of Dec 1st WDW will no longer RENT the Pal Mickey. You are still able to purchase.

Also that in May 2005 there will be a NEW Pal Mickey available and a clothing line for him.

If you can wait you may want to just keep an eye on them till spring. I am sure they will be slashing prices as the new PM's roll out.

Thanks for the number to order the Pal Mickey! I just ordered one. I first called a Disney catalog store in my area and was told they have never carried them there. Then I called the number above and asked if the Orlando area outlets ever carried them, thinking since I was leaving in 13 days it might be better to pick it up in person and save the postage also, but the CM informed that the Orlando area stores did not carry them. The CM was VERY helpful and went beyond nice. She told me about programing him facing the park as I had already read above, she promised to wrap him and ship him out today, She even said he would probably be at my home by the weekend or early next week, today being Wed. She wished me a nice trip and Happy Holidays too. Isn't Disney great...?

Do we have to worry whether the old Pal Mickeys will still work when the new ones come out?!? Anyone have any info on it? I bought one (haven't gotten it yet, ordered on Sat.) because we're going to make three trips in the next three years - before it gets too hard to go off-season while school is in session- and I was hoping we'd be able to use our PM for all three trips.

I wouldn't have bought him now if I thought he was going to become obsolete soon.

Our Pal Mickey was delivered today! We ordered him on Friday and the lady who took our order was so super nice! When we opened our box, we were so surprised to find that she put in a bunch of Mickey stickers and a stack of Disney coloring pages for my daughter! I wish they had a website or a catalog! We've been playing with him all night! He is so adorable and I think his jokes are pretty funny!

Hey, what would Dumbo be if he didn't take a bath for a whole year?

Jenjersnap-

I really wouldn't worry about the Pal Mickey becomming obsolete! It's just that he's basically the same style he was last year sooooo . . .

what would make an obsessed Disney fan (like myself) purchase another one? Well, change him up just a little bit. Make him bigger/louder/furrier/etc

They are doing something with him to celebrate the 50th anniversarly of Disneyland next year (remember that all Disney parks will be celebrating) and he will have his own costume line. So they might change the way his shorts attach slightly.

As far as him telling you all about the areas of the various parks though, I wouldn't worry.

I can't imagine them changing their programming, it seems to work perfectly fine the way it is. I have not heard as to if this is changing, but normally when this type of change occurs anywhere the old version will continue to work.

They are legit, I called back after we received Pal Mickey because I wanted some of the pins. We were cutting it close on getting them in time for us to leave, and also shipping was high. It's based on amount purchased, not weight. Therefore, shipping for pins was going to be the same as Pal Mickey. The CM suggested we wait and go to their store at the Belz Outlets right by Disney world since we are coming so soon. I thought that was very nice of her. She said they are the same price there. We plan to go there one evening early in our trip. I can't believe it's so close! Yahoo!!!

I think the Mickey Swap works like this (go see the post on that topic) - you get the Mickey from someone - you are charged for those days that you have him - then you pass him along to the next person.

Since I will be there for 14 days this time, and in May 7 days - I would be paying more for the Swap that just buying him is costing me.

so the swap only works for short visit.

if you can time one for your time and get on the list - it seems like a good deal.

I can always get the new one later!" Sean at the Disney Store was very helpful, and said he'd try to catch the delivery guy so it would get out today. Now I'll keep my fingers crossed that the shipment will get here by Wednesday. I've read on this thread that people were getting the deliveries pretty quick. I'm down to 5 or 6 business days so we'll see!

I think that the clip is to attach to a belt loop... the straps that you have seen in pictures I think are Disney Lanyards which is what we are going to do with ours. I have heard a lot of warnings about him falling off from just the belt clip alone getting on and off rides etc. and we wouldn't want to lose Mickey!!! :earseek:

I should have ordered 2! Now I will have to pay shipping again if I want another one.

I am packing him up to take to WDW with us next month for the holidays. I put the receipt in his box just in case I need it when I am at the World.

did you guys just order some pins and get some random ones, or did you ask for specific ones? Also does anyone know of anywhere else to get the lanyard starting pin set with tinkerbell besides in the park. dd and i will be going dec.4-dec9 (mvmcp dec7) and thought it would be cool to get one.

Has anyone had problems with the PM they bought? DH was playing with ours last night before we packed him and he was telling him he was wrong when he wasn't. We need to play with him some more to make sure, but I wonder what we can do when we are there if we have problems with him? Any ideas??

I just asked for random ones, told her I have boys. She started to describe a few but even she wasn't sure what she had. I said just find boyish ones. She asked about favorite characters. My oldest son was a little dissapointed in the pins. I told him it didn't matter, just trade them.

I didn't get mine from this source, but I wanted to say for those who have never used him, he's great! My husband got him in Sept for me, and I love it! I'm 31! We don't have kids. He's really good to have in World Showcase. He a little hard to hear during the hustle and bustle of the parks but you get used to him. It would be nice if he had the ability to add head phones. That'd be my only suggestion. I like the clothes idea, but I doubt we'll buy another this soon just for a change of outfit.

Ordered one a few days ago. Store called back today to tell me they are unable to ship to Canada for 10.95 (the shipping price) since UPS Canada is currently on strike. They researched other shipping methods and shipping alone was gong to be $50US. YIKES.. therefore, had to cancel my order.
Staff was great though.

Thanks to everyone. I just ordered 3 for my grandkids for Christmas. I let you know when they come. They person I talked with was helpful but not too talkitive, she had an accent and had trouble getting my information so I figured I 'd stick with just the PAL MICKEYS and a few pins, not ask about shirts. I'll bet they would do great if they would start a web site for the store. Maybe they don't have enough stuff , just enough for a few stores. Well so far I'm happy and thanks for the info.

Suzy, I can't be for certain, but seems like its $10.99 no matter where they ship to. I'm in CA and that's what I was quoted, and I see others posted who are on the East Coast and had the same rate.

granmanh603 - we must have spoken to the same lady. I had trouble understanding her too so I didn't bother with anything other than 2 Pal Mickeys.

I mail ordered two Pal Mickey's from the Character Premiere using the phone number listed above. One for my DS and DN.

The package arrived very quickly :D ; however, after opening the first one we realized that the button/sensor in Mickey's left hand is broken. He doesn't say anything when you press his left hand but the right hand and his tummy works. Unfortunately, you have to press both hands simultaneously to get him to play games.

I called the Character Premiere this morning to see how I can exchange the broken Pal Mickey for a new one. They gave two options: 1) Mail him back and then they will send us a new one 2) Take it to the park and they might exchange it there. The CM said to take my receipt to the park where they sell the PM and ask for a manager to exchange it. If they won't exchange it readily she said to have the manager call her at 954-846-7161. But she sounded pretty certain that they would exchange him easily.

Plus the CM said that the Pal Mickey's at the parks look the same but they have a bigger memory chip inside so they can play more games and say more things! :Pinkbounc

I hope they will let me exchange it since I would have to take the broken Pal Mickey all the way down with me on Friday on the plane when we go to WDW!

Is the Character Premiere store the same as the Disney Catalog outlet or is the Disney store like the one in Orlando at the Belz outlet stores that sell things that are from the parks? I hope you understand my question....

We are going to be in Gulf Shores, AL. the week after Christmas and the have a Disney Catalog outlet there that we also hit, so if it's that store, I may just wait and get my Pal Mickey then.

If it is the Disney merchandize outlet like the one I've been too in Orlando, of course, I will need to make a phone call....

Can anybody tell me which one it is... :jumping4: :jumping4: :earboy2:

Ours was ordered on 11/23 and took a little while longer to get here than others have posted, but with Thanksgiving that week, I expected a delay in shipment. I didn't read the book right away and was playing with him, not realizing you have to wait fifteen seconds between presses, or else he repeats himself. I called down to Character Premere and they were very kind, and explained that you have to wait between presses for a new phrase. I thought I would share this so that if anyone was as overly excited as I was that he was here, and pressed him continuously that he is not broken, he just repeats in case you could not hear him.

I ordered two from disney's character premier and was very happy!! I ordered 10 pins also. Although I forgot to specify I wanted ten different ones, she was assuming since i had two girls we wanted two of each. Anyhow, we got great pins, like jasmine, sleeping beauty, Belle, Winnie the pooh, the only "bad" ones we got were two of minnie/mickey/pluto on a sled, we'll be trading those two for sure:-)Anyhow my mickey's work great, and my lady was friendly and helpful!! It was just a small pamphlet that said that he will repeat himself up to five times in case you can not hear him if you press him again. The wait time between presses should be 15 seconds for him to change phrases. It also said that in order for him to swich to game mode you must squeeze both his hands at the same time for a period of time, I think it said ten seconds. Maybe someone can help on that one. I have him hidden, and can not get to the book at present, and I see you need the instructions pretty quick for your upcoming trip! Have a wonderful time!!!!

I have a quick question.....Is the zipper part in the back supposed to have an actual zipper pulley thing on it...or just the zipper mechanism? Mine has a zipper, but not the part you pull to open the zipper, so it is a little hard to open the back. I was thinking about exchanging him when we are at the parks this weekend. Thanks!

I have a couple of the phone numbers I will post.

I called 5 different places and finally found one place that has a few left! The number is 904-829-0359. The price is 27.99 plus 10.95 shipping. It ships UPS ground. I asked if they had any pins and she said the prices started at $6 so I didn't get those.. I would've like to have bought a few pins at 2.99.
I think the guy said there were 8 or so left and I bought one.

Thanks, Lil Mami Bella. I ordered one from this store, in St. Augustine, I think. They have more 3 left, but the front of the box was ripped on all the remaining ones. They said the Mickey was okay and they would put it in another box to ship it.

I did call the original number but they were out. They gave me the number of the Miami store. It's 305-592-5901. I didn't call them since the St. Augustine store had it. I don't know their availability, but if the other numbers don't work it might be worth a try.

You can get them in the park for $60. I've also seen them for sale on e-bay for around $35. Are the outlets going to be getting more? I read somewhere that Disney is coming out with a new Pal Mickey in May when they have their big anniversary celebration. I wonder if they'll be shipping all of the older models to the Outlet stores.

Hi!
I got mine before Christmas, and it worked fine once I changed the batteries. Then, when it was opened on Christmas morning it worked fine. Now it doesn't. Could the batteries die so quickly? Does it use up battery time even when you are not playing with it? Just want to know if we should stock up on batteries before we head down on vacation.
Thanks.

My friend bought one in the parks for our last vacation. It definitely uses some amount of battery power to have him on as they advise turning him off when not in use. She probably had him talk about 5 times per hour and needed to change the battery after a week around the world touring. So if you're having a great time continually pushing him to hear jokes and such, I would say, yes, it takes a lot of battery power to keep him talking!

We bought one last week from the first number listed in the thread. Came on Tues. Works great, they included extra batteries and some stickers for our DD. The receipt in the box was an official disney world one. Are these stores owned by Disney?

Great find, we can't wait to use it on our trip to Disney in March.

Do we need to take them in to get re-programmed when we get there?

Once you have scanned your park ticket and go through the turnstyle make sure you Pal Mickey is turned on. Hold his nose up in the air and he will down load the park information. We did not do that the first day and could not figure out why he did not work. We asked a salesperson and they told us the downloading info. My DD age 7 loved him and he will return with us in May.

The CM that I ordered mine from said to be sure to change the batteries when the Pal arrived. I guess they may have been around awhile and most have dead batteries. There are just a couple of twist ties on the back that hold him in. I was able to replace the batteries and re-close it to look brand new. (I gave mine to our 3 yr old for Christmas) You shouldn't have a problem with repacking.

Kelly

I read a while back on Jim Hill's site (before Pal Mickey came out) that if Pal Mickey was successful, they might have other characters come out too, like Pal Minnie, Pal Goofy, and maybe Pal Stitch, Pal Tigger, Pal Pooh, whatever. They could do it with any, since I'm reasonably sure that they are not transmitting voice data to the Mickey, but rather just telling him what words to say, and the voice is pre-recorded on a chip inside of the doll.

I know mine took over a week. Maybe a week and a half or so, but I purchased around Thanksgiving, so I figured maybe it didn't go out until after the holiday. I should stop hanging out around here before I go to Disney because it always costs me money. Really, I didn't want a Pal Mickey until now.

I called around and they don't think there are any more Pal Mickeys in "liquidation land" as the fellow said. I think the newer models are taking over.

So here I am, -$60 already, and I haven't even left home yet.

I'm wondering if anyone has had any issues with Mickey piping up and having a child get upset because you don't want to do what Mickey suggests. I know you don't *have* to squeeze his hand, but if he's on, I can't see not wanting to. My 3 YO might be difficult if Mickey says so & so is somewhere and we don't want to go because we have plans already.

Thanks!

Yes that happened to me! I wasn't going to tell DD about the 3:00 parade but Pal Mickey piped up as we were entering ToonTown. She wouldn't have missed the parade if she didn't know about it, but since she knew...after we saw Cinderella we ran (as much as you can through Fantasyland in July!) to Liberty Square and actually got to see the parade. She loved it, I'm glad we did, and still wish Pal Mickey had kept quiet. :) Kind of.
