I found a great rate in this area and was wondering how far Disneyland from this area.

Not all that close. I would guess it would be at least a 30-45 minute drive each way (and that's not figuring in traffic). From what I can tell it's around a 30 mile drive to the DL area. Try to find something closer because even if it's more money, the time and gas (never mind the stress if you're not used to S CA traffic) will likely eat up what you saved.

I really want to go to Universal, some famous Cali beaches too. What is the midway point of LA to Disneyland?

You would want to look along the I-5 for the midway point between Dl and Universal, but if you're only going to Universal for 1 day (you really don't need more than that), I'd stick in the DL area. It's not that far from DL to some of the better known beaches, like Newport and Huntington.

Jen is right. Stay in the Orange County area because it is much nicer. The beaches down there are so sooo beautiful, too! Even though you want to go to Universal for a day, the drive should be ok...depending on the time you travel.

<font color=navy>I live in Carson, and it's 25 miles -- takes me anywhere from 20 minutes (I live close to the 91 fwy) to 45 minutes, depending on no traffic - heavy traffic. On the worst days, with no kids for me to get in the carpool lanes, it'll take an hour - but that's only happened once.

If you stay in Carson, you'll be near the 91, 405, and 110 fwys -- DL is 25 miles, Universal Studios is 25 miles, Redondo Beach is 15 minutes on side streets. Santa Monica Pier is about 20 minutes away - LAX is about 15 minutes away...

Depends what you're looking for.

As a tourist, if you're visiting to primarily visit the DL Resort area, I vote for a stay in Anaheim.
