I got in the mail today a flyer from Mayor Clayton of Give Kids The World Village... It says Mayor Clayton Welcomes DD to the village on Dec. 2nd. It was so sweet and DD hung it up on her wall.. I just wanted to share this news with you all.

All the info in the package you get from GKTW is great. It gives you more info and a nice map. We stayed in one of the villas that was down near the dead end to the very right. it was very quiet and a short walk to all the main buildings. on thing that was a "little annoying" is that there is a pet motel right by the village and the dogs that were there when we were, let's just say that the villas are very sound proofed. they were loud when we were outside, and you could not hear them indoors.
they may not tell you, can't remember if there are signs, but the geese are NOT people friendly. there are 8 i think that hang around the lagoon. they do not bother anyone, but do not like to be approached. my 3 yr old wanted to, and they ran!
there is washing machine soap and bounce sheets there, but i needed pre treater for stains, just a hit if you want to do laundry. they also tell you that you should wash your towels durring the week if they are dirty. i washed everything before we came home, so no dirty laundry to deal with!
I found the walmart just up the road nice, HUGE, but it had everything. it was very busy most of the time, but it didn't take too long. what we did was i would "run" in and hubby and the kids would stay in the car. less chance of kids getting lost, wanting everything. and walk out and he would pick me up at the curb.
just a suggestion- they also have a disney section- the stuff looks just like the theme park stuff, but it says disney, NOT Walk Disney World. that is the only difference i found. also has a large pharmacy area- that was good, becuase i forgot DD syringes for meds, so we had to go the first evening we were there.

Thank-you so much Anne for all that info. I haven't gotten the big info pack yet but I have been talking one on one with a person that works there.
She mentioned wal-mart was down the road.... That was a plus thing to hear. Thank-you about the noise thing with the dogs I well keep that in mind.
Once I got to take to someone that works there and got my questions answer I am more relaxed. All we want to do is have fun... Enjoy every moment and have ever lasting memories.

I liked the info from GKTW. it was very helpful. We also knew that there was a washer/dryer there, so we packed a lot less. it was easy to put a load in after bath time and then the dryer before bed, clean clothes in the morning.
One thing that was great was our Make a Wish chapter had sent our DD a couple of packages. one was a special calendar for counting down to leaving. it was really cute. another package was an Aeriel backpack with lunch box and Aeriel pajamas. and another package after we got back was an Aeriel watch with her name engraved on the face.
Make a wish is truely a wonderful org. they also picked DD for their holiday giving campaign. she will have a tree with her name and picture and a story about her trip.
You should also expect a package- don't know if it is from disney or local chapter, but it has Disney hands (that is their charatible side) and Genie is their mascot. DD got hat stickers with genie on them. there was also the planning video and guide to WDW (i think it was birmbaums) this all came with our schedule and flight info and all that stuff.

They asked where her fav. place to eat out was so they can arrange a dinner party there. Also they said they would provide us with luggage.. That was a big blessing because I don't have any...lol

That is who I got our flight plan from too. I don't know if I am supposed to be talking to the wish coordinator or the volunteers that came out initially to talk to Teddy. I just hate jumping through hoops and going between people so I have been dealing with the wish coordinator directly. Any way we will be there Dec 7-13. :Pinkbounc :bounce: we are so excited we may pass out soon!!!

We may pass out too...lol Yes I've been dealing with wish headpeople too... Although the wish volunteer called the other day with some quetions..
We leave on the 8th... Where are you coming from... We are all the way in washington state.
I was just told today that the wal-mart which is just down the road from GKTW has alot of disney shirts and other things. A friend of mine bought her girls a pink minnie mouse fanny pack from there.
I well continue to pass on what ever info I get.. You can also e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks and have a great night.

We are coming from Iowa. Do you have any plans for sure of where you want to go? I am thinking we are just going to skip the sea world thing. Most of the people I have talked to here said it is not that great. My boys are really excited about the Epcot Center and ToT. Ohhhhhhhh and the pizza at night, I think we are more excited about that than anything, lol.

It's cool to hear about everyone's plans and upcoming trips.
10-22-2004, 07:00 PM
Just an FYI- when you check in, they will give you what is called "the bunny book" that is your bible! It has everything in it. You will go to orientation the night you arrive- takes about an hour, depends on how many people check in that day.
the bunny book has exact direction to all the parks- it also tells you many other things- like local shopping (the outlet malls)
and yes the walmart just up the road from GKTW does have a whole section of just disney stuff. the only difference is that it does NOT says Walt disney world- i think it just says disney world.
just a word of warning about the walmart- when we were there, it was VERY BUSY!
do not forget about the nightly tuck ins! it was really cool to see mrs mayor clayton driving around in the little car and going to tuck kids in (you have to sign up at the welcome house)
pizza is available till 10:30pm you can either go get it (it is right by the main pool) or they will deliver it to your villa.
Chirstmas was really cool- complete with santa- don't forget your camera in the villa like i did (ran back to get it:crazy: ) even go pics if daddy and grandma with santa!
the merry go round is another of the kids favorites- my kids kept the operator busy!!

10-23-2004, 11:39 AM
