is this like the phantom for halloween where you leave treatbags (or random other stuff) on the neighbour's door with a note from the phantom and ring the doorbell and run? maggie
The Great Pumpkin
The Great Pumpkin’s messengers have come to town to leave you some goodies, I see you have found.
Continue the greeting, if you don’t mind.
First, post this ghost where it can be seen and leave it until Halloween
Second, make two treats, two ghosts and two notes like this
Deliver them to neighbours who may have been missed.
Don’t let them see you, be sneaky and quick. Make sure that they have put out their ghost.
Next you have only one day to act, so be quick! Leave ghosts where the messengers haven’t yet been
Deliver at dark when there is not a soul about.
Ring the doorbell and run, and stay out of sight!
Last but not least, come join in the holiday!
Happy Halloween!

I started it a few years ago after a friend from another neighborhood did it too me.
Everyone loved it!!!
We always have a few who do not play along, the hard part is convincing them to put the phantom in the window so they don't get phantomed over and over again. That has happened. Also, have had people not put them out right away and get two or three in one night....lol!
We have 50 or so houses in our developement and it can get around rather quickly.
Hey we used to do something similar on the pin board too. You sent a pin to a board friend and then they posted on the board when they recieved it and sent one on to someone else on the board. It was a lot of fun and can be played year round. Of course we had each others addresses from pin trading.
Hmmmmmmmm maybe there should be a phantom of the cropera......:)

We started this in our new neighborhood on Tuesday night. But so far I haven't seen anyone else get "ghosted" and one of the houses we did still hasn't put up their ghost. I purposefully picked these two bc I was sure they'd play. Maybe they are just busy and will catch up this weekend. Hope so. My old neighborhood sounded like goofymom's!
I just used Microsoft Word's Chiller font and free handed a plain ghost and darkened two eyes on it.
I like the idea of doing it for work. That should be fun!

LOVE the "Phantom of the Crop-era!" That's great!
We do the Boo thing in our neighborhood too, the kids love it (and so do I!).

"Boo!
The air is cool, the season Fall
Soon Halloween will come to all
The spook brought this treat to you!
“Boo” is a shield, from the Witching Hour
Just hang it up, and watch its power.
On our front door is where it works,
It wards off spooks and scary jerks
The treats that came with this cryptic note,
Are yours to keep, enjoy them both.
The power comes when friends like you
Will copy this, and make it two!
Then others here among our friends
Will give warm fuzzies that will not end.
We’ll all have smiles upon our face.
No one will know who Booed this place!
Just one short day to work your spell,
Or a big zap will strike your tail!
And don’t forget a nifty treat,
Like something cute or something sweet.
Please join the fun, let’s really hear it
And spread some Boo’s and Halloween Spirit!
Instructions:
1. Enjoy your treat
2. Place your Boo on your front door.
3. You now have 24 hours to copy this twice, make two treats, and two Boos and secretly deliver to two neighbors who do not have a Boo on their front door.
4. Watch how far this spreads by Halloween!
Happy Haunting!!!!"
The signs just say Boo! and the children usually create/color them themselves.
