Shipping Insurance ?

Allright- if this question has been asked please forgive me.

I sold a lot of girls clothing and I shipped this on 9-21 thru priority mail and with insurance covering up to $50.00.
The buyer has not received the package as of today and I'm assuming since it was sent priority and she lives in the same state as me that this is LOST.

I spoke with someone at the post office and they said that I need to wait 30 days to file a claim with my insurance receipts.

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else? What is the standard procedure for refunding the money? Does the post office require an invoice from the ebay sale? If not how do they determine the amount refunded? And how long does this process usually take? This buyer has been great to deal with and I would like to reassure her.

Thank you :)

Just a question for you, did you do delivery confirmation on this shipment? If you print online, it is free. I do it on all of my shipments, even first class for small items. You pay a small fee, even online if its other than priority.

No- I didn't get confirmation.
I do believe the buyer though and she has excellent feedback. I don't get the feeling she's trying to pull one over.
