We'll be renting a car at MCO on 1/4 when our friends drop us off after our cruise. We'll then drive to WL to spend 2 nights. Dh has to leave on Thursday (1/6) for a 5:30 flight. The kids and I will want to stay at the parks most likely so what is our best bet (read: cheapest) for getting him from WL to MCO? Kids and I will return car to MCO next day (our flight is noon-ish)

I'm assuming it's Mears or another shuttle service. Can someone confirm or offer another choice?

Thanks!

OK, my memory is sketchy on actual details as our plans changed and we didn't need to do this, but...check into a one-way rental. Alamo is the "official" Disney car rental company. Jan. '04 I looked into a one-way rental, pick up car at MCO and drop off at the Disney car care center (or whatever it's called...I believe Swan/Dolphin was also an option. It was going to cost about $35. Let's see... on the Alamo site I had to search their listed locations to find the drop-off location code, otherwise it's pretty straightforward. Oh yes, this was for a compact car...only needed it for 45 mins., right? Don't know if they offer the same service from car care center to MCO, but it's worth a try!

Taxi fare is about $50 one way, but could be more in high traffic.

One way fare on Mears Shuttle is $17/person - so this may be less of a hassle even if you have to stop to pick up other people.

The time you and he spend planning alternate transportation may outweigh just hopping in the car and taking him.

It is not unusual for Mears to want to pick him up four hours before flight time.

You need to arrange transportation to the Car Care Center, no Disney buses go there.

However, you can get a bus to the Swan/Dolphin car rental desk. Both Alamo and National are there, if I remember correctly. You'll have to get a bus from one of the theme parks though. There are no hotel to hotel Disney buses.
