hello!
this may be just what we need to do - that is, start purchasing Disney Dollars every now and then and stash them away (a sorta savings account) for an upcoming trip to WDW! Where do you get them? THANKS FOR REPLIES!;)

I get them at the Disney Store. They can be used everywhere at WDW, as far as I know.

Everywhere in WDW that is owned by Disney. For instance, I don't think you could use them at Rainforest Cafe, Cirque du Soleil, or Fulton's Crab House. But all theme parks, resorts, World of Disney, restaurants owned by Disney will accept Disney Dollars (you may get change in regular dollars). You might even be able to charge non-disney places to your resort & pay for them with Disney Dollars...

Picking up Disney Dollars is a great way to save for a vacation, I'd say go for it.
