We've stayed at the Hilton and Sheraton which are the closest hotels to the park. The reason for staying there was the convenience and the shuttle to the parks.

Well, after going back again I decided to make a valiant effort to find a cheaper place. Well, this is it. And guess what? There's a free shuttle; so, you don't pay for parking. Now, the shuttle does not run as often as the other resorts above but our schedule was fine with it. It's a 5 to 10 minute ride to the park depending on traffic. For a Holiday Inn, I was pleasantly suprised at this place. You can probably secure a rate for half the cost as the others mentioned above. There's a nice size pool and tennis courts, here. There's a fitness room. They have a restaurant, too; although, I found it was pricey but not any worse then the Hilton or Sheraton. The gift shop offers tours of Hollywood, etc. at an extra cost.

The room is large enough. There's a double sink feature which makes it very nice. It's clean enough, too. There's no microwave or refrigerator. I'm thumbs up for this place as a great alternative for the higher price resorts there.

I was hoping to do one night in Hollywood - can you see the HOllywood sign from that hotel? I thought it would be really cool to wake up, look out the window and see the sign....my daughter loves everythign Hollywood!

Hi! I agree with you about the Beverly Garland hotel being a nice value for your money. We (my dh, my 11 year old, and myself) stayed there for four nights this past August. I had heard mixed reviews on this hotel, but I have to say it was a clean, reasonably priced, and comfortable place to stay. My 11 year old enjoyed the pool there very much and we even had a breakfast at the hotel, which was quite good. My son got to eat from the buffet for free. I would stay there again.

Lollipop's Mom: No, unfortunately, you can not see the Hollywood sign from that hotel. I am not familiar with that area since that was really the first time I stayed there. Hopefully, some of our California friends could give you more information on if there are any hotels that give you a view to the sign. Sorry.
