When you hear about it, can you post it ASAP? We are planning to be at KSC and hoping that they will send the spaceshuttle up on the 1st like their original plan. I have been talking to KSC and they have so many activities planned for the 1st and security is very tight. Anyone entering is getting a background check as we speak! I ordered our tickets and they send you your vehicle placcard. You HAVE to have it as you can not go there that day and hope to get in because of the background checks! They then mail them, and they are mailing them out on Monday. Since we are starting our vacation on Wednesday I was so worried that we wouldn't get the mailing in time, so they have been working with me and are going to overnight it! Can't wait

Princess Vija,
They just showed a story that they had a dress rehersal for the launch, but now saying they will not announce the official launch date until Saturday. :confused3

Any WV families out there?

BethA,
We are from WV. However, we are not Mountaineer fans, but Marshall University fans and alumni. In fact, they are completing filming of a movie about Marshall and Mathew McConahay and Mathew Fox were intown filming. As for Barboursville, it is a small community outside of Huntington, WV. In fact my DW teaches at the HS that covers this community, and it is about a mile from our house. Chances are that my DW or her sister who also teaches at the same school had your son's roomate.

Flying out of Orlando in the morning. :sad1: However, I will be back a week from today and staying at the WL. :woohoo: I went to DTD this evening. Cannot visit Orlando without stopping by some part of Disney.

Ok, the first one is flying the coop!! Tinky is on the way!!!! :thumbsup2 Have a safe trip and have fun!

Welcome HoosierMouseFan!!! Deck party is at 4:30 after the safety drill on the port side on Deck 10.

Wendy, Keep the school countdown going!! You must be going crazy!!! Look at it this way, at least it keeps you busy and hopefully the time is flying for you.

I know we haven't done the cruise yet, but is anybody else experiencing "pre-post-cruise blues"??? :sad2: I know I've been saying in 1 week I'll be doing ......but then I think in 2 weeks (plus 1 day) I'll be trying to hang onto the railing when they cruelly try to make us leave the ship. I wonder if we can see the fingernail markings on the rails from previous disers???

Anyone who bet on the DS touching the DO NOT TOUCH clothes for the cruise, you were right!!! Of course his response was, "but we don't leave for another week!"" DH must have told him to just do what the crazy woman asks, don't ask questions, just do it!!!!

Welcome HoosierMouseFan :cheer2: We've got a great group here and I know our trip will be phenomenal! (sp?)

Musicgirl, what time was the Beaches and Cream get together? We are commandoing (is that a word? LOL) MK that day so I am not sure that we will make it. But just in case, what time is everyone going to get there? What would be the best way to get there? Is it the Yacht and beach club? I can't remember the resort names right there. UGHHHH I feel so unprepared for our land part of the visit. I am searching high and low for all of the details to make the most out of our trip to the parks!

Which reminds me as everyone is looking forward to next week.... we will be on Buzz lightyear space ranger spin RIGHT NOW!

HooiserMouseFan - OMG :yay: This is a small world after all. Have you lived in Carmel long? I grew up there and went to Carmel High School. My mother still lives there and my father moved up to 86th street in Indy. We will also be at the Radisson the night before and at the pool meet at 2pm. I would love to talk about IN. We will also be on the David and Ivan tour at CM so we will see you there as well.

Musicgirl - I think the thing I will miss most after the cruise is checking this board everytime I am near a computer. I don't know what I will do with all my free time :surfweb: .

My DD's finished school yesterday and now we are really getting psyched for the cruise :Pinkbounc . I am finishing wash today and already made the announcement that they are not to wear the clothes I am pulling out for the cruise. I don't care if we have a washing machine, I don't want to be doing wash all next week :laundy: .

7 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!! :jumping1:

Does anybody know what the least expensive way would be to visit only one park the Friday before the cruise. I pretty much decided we weren't going to go, but maybe I'd surprise the kids & go to Epcot or MGM. It's just that for one night it's so expensive & i don't plan on being at Disney next year so a multiple day hopper wouldnt work. Any suggestions would be appreciated - i'm so excited to go now I'm thinking of extra things to do! THanks.

What are people packing for DD's with regards to shirts? I know it will be really hot in the islands and in Florida next week which makes me lean towards sleeveless shirts. My fear is that when they are on the boat in the clubs, restaurants, etc... that it will be chilly with the AC. I don't want to pack both sleeveless and sleeved shirts. What is everyone else doing :confused3 ?

For anyone looking to do the D&I tour in CM--we just cancelled a spot for 4, my dad decided he wasn't up to it and then my nephew didn't want to go--so I guess we'll check out the port pool and then head to the beach.

Thanks for posting the movies. are those on the tv? most of those are out on video already except cars, aren't they?

I'm about to get the suitcases from the attic. Had a scare that the small dry cleaner where my son's suit pants were was closed for a few days, but he's back and we have the cleaned items.

I already feel the pain of the cruise ending too and it hasn't even started.

I've been lurking around your message board for quite some time now, ever since i heard about it... You people have far SURPASSED any cruising message board that I've been on. You all sound like you are so much fun...

There is one person on this board who will know who this is... I'll let her respond. :rolleyes1 She is the same in person, as she is on this message board... :cheer2:

I hope that you all have a WONDERFUL time on your cruise!

i just couldn't resist, i've been reading all your posts!!! wow, what a group you are going to have! are you really going to get Bill and Andrew to wear lime green shirts and sunglasses? THIS I GOTTA SEE!

and one of your post'ers said they have a drink they want to make for you, i just can't remember the name of it. make sure you get the recipe and bring it to the 4th of July party!!!

I tried to get Scott to since he'll be in Cape Canaveral next week.

Wow...everyone has been busy. I've been trying to catch up.

I must admit I'm a bit jealous that we will not be able to hit the parks before the cruise, but not in the cards for us this year. I hope all of you have a wonderful time! Lorie, I can't wait to hear about the new ride at Animal Kingdom.
We will :drive: to Cocoa Beach 1 week from today. I haven't even started packing -- I keep telling myself "I will not overpack, I will not overpack"....but I'm sure I will! :rotfl2: I just hope DS hasn't outgrown his new clothes :confused3 How do those pants get so short in 3 weeks??? :confused3 :teeth:

Can't wait to meet everyone. Looking forward to the deck party next Saturday -- (how long have I waited to say that!) The best I could do with the lime green, is a shirt with some lime green mixed in -- but I'll be watching for everyone! Lorie, I understand the "NO WAY" from your DS on the lime green. The response that I received was "NO WAY, I'm not wearing that!" :rotfl: But he is looking forward to the meet so he can find some fellow Bball players.

Lorie, did we decide the meet for CM would be at Topsider's at 7:30? :grouphug:

Wow ya'll have been busy again!
Sujo- I have packed sleeveless and short sleeve shirts for DD, but we are bringing a lightweight jacket if she gets cold. I don't remember her needing it on the Wonder, but better safe than sorry!
Went to the Disney Store tonight to pick up the last few Disney Dollars! :cool1:
We kick off our Disney spree tomorrow with the magic show :Pinkbounc
DD and I have talked all week about what we will be doing next week at this time. It is so exciting! :woohoo:
Got a clear bill of health today from the doctor so we are good to go!
Looks like there will be alot of us at the Radisson. Can't wait for the pool meet!

musicgirl
06-16-2006, 08:48 PM
Beth, yes I think 7:30 bk meet at Topsiders. Remember, even if you're not going to Maj. Beach with us, come eat with us!!!

BethA-so it sounds like you'll be joining us at Maj Beach????

Barbara-I don't think there is a cheap way to do anything at WDW!! I know the price for any park (excluding water park) is $67 per person. The hopper is $103 per person (excluding water parks) It's a bit more for one day, but this way we can please everyone!!!

I had to go shop today!!! I was trying to fit everything in suitcases, but they weren't big enough!!! So I forced myself to shop and bought another big one!! Yahoo! :woohoo: now I can pack more!

Oddly enough, I was in MARYLAND a couple of weeks ago! Where do you live there?

We'll be at the Radisson, and at the post-drill Castoff Party (port side, 4:30 or so)....and also on the Chacchoben "David & Ivan" tour.

HoosierMouseFan - We have lived in Maryland for about 19 years. We moved here after college (PURDUE). We live in a little town called West Friendship, it is about 15 minutes outside of Columbia. I grew up at a house on the corner of 106th and Keystone. My family moved there when I was going into ninth grade so I went to Carmel Jr. High for one year and then Carmel High School. Carmel High School is a great school. They have so many things for kids to get involved with like sports, band, choir, debate, theater, etc... There is nothing out here that compares. I am coming back there in August to visit with my Mom and Dad and of course go to the Indiana State Fair which my DD's love (got to have that ear of corn dipped in butter!!! ). I have to say that I love living on the East coast with the mountains and ocean so close.

With so many of us going on David and Ivan's tour we ought to try and meet up to catch cabs when we arrive at CM.

I told my DD's that a week from today we will be getting on the boat. I don't know who is more excited :hyper: , me or the girls.

I was wondering what others are doing with regards to letting their kids check themselves in and out of the kids club. I know the last time we were on the cruise our oldest DD was 10 and she didn't stay in the club as much as the younger one. This meant we spent more time walking back and forth to the club. Now that she is 12 I am going to let her check herself in and out. They can page the parents to let them know where they are headed but we don't have to go get her. My other DD is 8 (almost 9) and will be in the same club as the older but I am hesitant to let her check herself in and out as she is still pretty young. My fear is that she will want to leave the same time as the older and we will still be trekking back and forth to the clubs. What are other people doing with their kids?

Susan

Doingitagain
06-17-2006, 01:52 PM
It has been a while for me, but I thought they had to be 10 before they could check themselves out?

When DS was 10, we just had them page us when he checked out so we knew he was leaving.

That's pretty cool Charla. Are you going there? That was one of the places we had considered and it sounded great. I hope it is in good condition. We are still scheduled for a snorkel excursion.

carole88
06-17-2006, 05:09 PM
Sujo - We are letting our girls check out themselves. We did this on the last cruise with strict instructions for our younger DD. She had to have us paged to let us know where she was going. She couldn't just leave and randomly roam around the ship. She knew that if she broke the rules her privledges (sp?) would have been revoked. She did really well. I know that this has been debated on other threads. Some people feel comfortable giving their kids some freedom and others are not comfortable with it. I think a lot depends on your own children and you know them better than anybody else.

RCBA
06-17-2006, 05:22 PM
Yes, we are going. There is not a lot to do with a toddler, so I had really hoped that we would get to go to Chankanaab...now we will! I'm sure the storm damage will still be evident, but that is ok.

BethA
06-17-2006, 07:07 PM
1 week from now we'll be in the Walt Disney theater!!!
2 weeks from now we'll be home crying that it's over----I hate that part!!!

We are letting our 10 yr old check himself out. He is familiar with the Magic from previoius cruises so we are comfortable that he'll find us. Last time he did not spend a lot of time in the clubs. It seemed most kids were there with someone and he didn't make any firends to hang out with, plus on that cruise my neice was with us who is close to his age. I hope he meets someone this time.

Thanks for reposting all the meets. I'm sure you have an exact count--how many dismembers are on our cruise?

musicgirl
06-17-2006, 08:33 PM
Beth A-Here's my best guess on the count. There are a few names on the original list that I'm pretty sure are not going at this time, but I didn't take their name off since they didn't officially say they were not going.

My guess is 35 disers with a total of 126 people. I did not include the above and I only counted the immediate family members.

I know, I need to get a life!!! :rotfl:

Go Lorie! :woohoo:
We saw the Disney Live magic show today. We had second row seats with no one in front of DD. It was a great way to kick off our Disney spree! It was a cute show. Mickey and Minnies eyes blinked and my DD was so impresssed! We are soooo ready to leave for WDW. :figment: :stitch: :goofy: :sulley: :tigger: :mickeyjum :donald:

DD will probably have check out priveledges, but will have to let me know where she is or she will lose that priveledge.

Hi guys, I made it back from Orlando in time to start packing again and finish final plans for the cruise.

BethA,
My son who is 9 will be in the kids club and we have no one with us. Maybe our sons could meet up. Also, my DW said if you let us know the name of your sons roomate at WVU she may know him.

Hello Double-dippers! :wave2: A November Double-Dipper here popping in to wish you all bon voyage :boat:

Just read the last handful of pages of your thread and it sounds like you have a large group for David & Ivan in CM. We have 60 (!) and I was surprised they would take that many. We'll be interested to hear how they handle/divide up your group. I was under the impression that David & Ivan are the only tour guides (plus the lady in the bus)....I'm wondering if they have more staff and will split into smaller groups? We'll want to hear lots of details ::yes:: on your experience...OK?

Wishng you all a safe and magical vacation....STAY HEALTHY THIS WEEK!

Good question regarding check in-out....I indicated on the registration form that my DD-9 wouldn't be allowed to check herself in.....it then gave me a drop-down picklist of "adults" in our party who should be allowed to check her in/out, and DS-13 was listed. Problem solved! I'll have him carry the pager! :goodvibes

Actually, I'm o.k. with her checking herself out, but I don't like the idea of her being alone and walking through the long stateroom hallways. I think I'd be o.k. if she was together with a friend and they had a specific destination in mind. I think I'll stick with the no-check-out policy for now, and perhaps I'll change it later after we see how things go.

Packing is making me CRAZY
DH just said "I don't know if we will do formal night or not" pirate: he may walk the plank pirate: :lmao: I do not want to carry my dress, shoes, DS dress pants/shirt/vest/tie/shoes if I don't have to :furious:

I have DS covered...he was easy to pack for :wizard: It is DH and I that I am struggling with. I keep thinking we will likely live in our swimwear but don't want to kick myself for packing too little.

If you care to read, and maybe offer advice here is what I've got so far:

2 rolling suitcases w/ the little bags that sit on top of them. The small rolling bag and it's matching little bag will be our carryons. DS will have his rolling backpack as his carry on. I'm using a smallish messenger bag I got at a recent conference as a "purse" (I got a wristlet purse to carry around when I actually want a purse). I have a bag that folds up compactly to use as a beach bag and to bring home souvies. I'll probably buy a 'real' beach bag on the trip. The bag that goes on top of the big rolling bag will be mostly for souvies as we have enough stuff that is not coming home w/ us to fill it (pull ups, Goldfish, travel snacks, etc) We will have a Maclaren stroller with us, it folds up pretty small - umbrella style. We will also likely have a carseat. DS is so wiggly right now that I don't think he will want to sit still on our plane ride. He did well the last time...but he was only 1. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Bon Voyage to all those leaving soon :wave2: safe travels and we will see you on the boat. I am really jealous of those who are going to WDW first. This will be the first time we have been in Florida and not gone to WDW. I might have to seek therapy afterwards  . We don't leave until Friday morning. I did surprise the DD's with a trip to the spa today to get our nails done. Everyone looks fabulous princess: princess: princess: . I have still not gotten into the packing mood yet. Just picking up little things here and there. We had our neighborhood picnic yesterday that I was the coordinator for so I have been too busy to really get into the Cruise. But now I am free and it is time to pack.

For the Radisson meet, have we decided how we are going to know who the Dis'ers are? I remember last time we were there the pool was a little crowded, has anyone thought of a way we can identify each other at the pool :confused3 ?

Hello everybody!!! I just got back from a family vacation with my husband's side. I could hardly wait to read the disboards when I got in this afternoon. I had more than 10 pages to read and catch up on.

HooiserMouseFan and SuJo- I am from Anderson, Indiana. I teach at the middle school and my husband teaches and coaches at Highland High School. I will be glad to talk IN to you. Although, I did not grow up in IN like my husband did.

jtjcwise and BethA- I grew up in West Virginia. I lived in South Charleston (Spring Hill area). I did not go to WVU, but have good friends who did. They still live in Morgantown.

I am so jealous of those that have already left. I don't get to fly in until the day of the cruise. I am hoping for no delays, but we leave very early. I can't wait to meet everyone at the sailaway party. My college roomie and I did get an free upgrade from deck 2, category 10 to deck 5, category 7- navigator's verandah. I can't wait to see it.:yay:

Safe travels to all who have already left and all who are leaving soon. We are not heading out until late Thursday evening. I pretty much have all of the kids clothes set aside. Tomorrow I will finish up with DH's and mine.

Sujo -Maybe I'll try to make a small sign for the Radisson meet. Anybody else have any ideas?

Saw Melissa Etheridge in concert last night at Ceasars Palace. My sister in law gave us the tickets last minute. We didn't realize that this was her first concert after recovering from breast cancer. She was really great. We ended up staying on the Strip. The kids like staying in the hotels. Almost felt like we started our vacation a little early. Even bet on 24 on the roulette table and won!

Happy Father's Day to all of the Dads out there!

We have 2 garment bags, 1 large suitcase each for the 4 of us and I am putting everything for the Radisson in 1 small suitcase---plus our carryons. I am finding I'd be okay with just the clothes-I cut back, but can't quite get over the overpacking,- BUT, I have a cometic case with all kinds of meds, all my shoes, dress shoes for everyone else and all the sunscreen, aloe, lotion, etc, that seems to fill the suitcase. plus I have 6 books. I am running out of room. I hope I don't end up needing another suitcase!! I have one HUGE suitcase I took a few years ago, but with the weight limit it doesn't work now.

I feel like I am forgetting something. Are there fewer documents now?

musicgirl
06-19-2006, 06:21 AM
Beth A, I ran into the same thing with the weight limits. When we flew Delta 5 years ago, the limit was 80 lbs, now it is 50lbs. I'd really like to be able to correctly weigh the luggage ahead of time. Our scale is not large enough to weigh it alone. DH weighs himself and then with holding the bag. It's pretty close I think.

Since we are having some people leaving for the trip. Any last minute pieces of advice?

Something I read on the other forums about towels.

There will be towels provided as you get off the ship for CC.

There are usually towels provided for DCL excursions where you meet. However, most people are greedy.

If you are doing an excursion on your own or just going to the port pool or a nearby beach, TAKE towels as they will not have them as you exit the ship! Get the towels from the pool area.

Make sure you get the towels BEFORE you go to the WDW theater for Coz tendering, unless of course you have fast children, of course they must be awake at that point!!! :rotfl:

Wow you all are doing great with the packing. I still only have one DD's stuff pulled together. The other DD is going to start tonight and I just keep putting it off. I think it is because I am afraid that I have too much stuff. I am definitely an over packer. It is even harder now that they have the limits on the bags at the airport. I have this really big suitcase that I use to love to take because it held so much but now if I barely fill it I am over the 50lb mark.

In bringing the kids snorkel gear, do people bring the fins? I can't imagine snorkeling without them but they are bulky and hard to pack. Where are people packing items like these?

You don't need to bring towels from home. If you are leaving the ship for a non disney excursion ( like a private excursion, day at a beach in Coz or CM) grab extra towels from the pool area.

The only times that they have towels handy will be once you get off the ship at CC and if you are doing a DCL excursion. When you meet for these excursions, they have towels for you to take, however they don't usually have enough and then people take 2 for every 1 person.

But definitely don't pack towels in your luggage. Sorry for any confusion.

Vija I'm not so sure if the ship is at CC. There was also an article saying that it is Florida. I guess we'll have to wait and see from the current cruisers or until we get there!

Susan, we pack our fins. It does take up quite a bit of room. We will use them both days at CC, so it is worth it. I've snorkeled without fins and even at CC, it is extremely tiring. So for kids, I definitely would bring them. There's nothing worse than a kid who "can't swim anymore", you're tired and he/she wants to hang onto your back!!!

Well, I won't be turning out the light. We're out of here Thursday at 6am.

I hope the article posted on the main page is right! The one ship docked at Ft. Lauderdale is the Black Pearl, the Flying Dutchman according to different posts is the one docked at CC and is the ship of Capt. Jack Sparrow's rival. How cool would that be to see that ship?!!!

I sure hope that the Flying Dutchman is at CC. I would love to see it and get some pictures. My friends back home would be so jealous!

As far as towels go, if you are an overpacker, you do not need them. You can get them from the pool area to take with you. They even have big bins to put them in when you return to the ship from excursions and the beach. I usually take a beach towel. I use it to find my chair easier. I use a Disney towel to dry off, but use my towel on my chair. With everyone having white towels on the chairs, you can not tell yours from everyone elses. You also can not tell if anyone is using the chair or have left. If the chair has a white towel on it and no one has been there for a while, I will move the towels and use the chair. People save chairs and don't use them for hours at a time. I don't think that is fair and Disney's rule is "NO saving chairs". I have usually been able to find a chair without moving towels off of chairs.

I haven't packed yet, since I don't leave until 6am Sat. morning. I will be the only one of us left by then. I do have a master packing list. I keep adding and deleting things from the list. I won't pack until Friday. I am taking snorkeling stuff, but not the fins. The fins take up too much room and you can rent just the fins at Castaway Cay. I am going to rent them there.

I CAN't WAIT TO GO !!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Susan - we are taking the fins that came w/ our gear. I put them in the big suitcase in the gear bag that they came with. I only brought 1 set of gear b/c w/ the toddler we both won't get to snorkel at the same time.

Good idea...I have plenty of room for towels. I was thinking of buying CC towels. I don't think I would leave them on a chair alone though. I would hate for someone to pick them up by mistake.

Wow! What a busy day. Brought some last minute dry cleaning in. Did lots of shopping, more laundry and got my girls hair cut. I printed iron-on transfers for pillowcases and made a sign for the Radisson Dis Meet. It's not a big sign (8.5 x 11) so look closely for it.

Still haven't packed yet. Have most of the clothes ready to go in the suitcases, just haven't put them in yet. Not sure how many cases we'll need. It will depend upon how much they weigh. I am definately an overpacker! I feel better if I think I'm prepared for just about anything. I don't know how others pack light. Angie,
Have fun on the Mariner--let us know about the cruise-we are considering that one in the future.

we'll still be here til early Friday-our flight leaves at 7:30am so my husband will have us to the airport extra early--at least we won't miss the flight. We always go the day before-we've had too many bad airline experiences to chance missing the cruise and that gives any lost luggage time to catch up-hopefully we won't have that problem!! That would kill the formal pictures. On RCL we saw a lot of people who had lost luggage and they have a good bit of clothing available for sale--on DCL you would be out of luck.

Does anyone know exactly how many documents you should have--I feel like I have less than other times--have the Bahama form, cruise contract, kid's club, credit card form-what am I missing??

Could anyone check and see if Palo is available for any night. We are waitlisted and one cat 4 just came available. We are already booked on the Wonder for the next week and dont want to miss out on Palo. Also, could someone see if Flounders still has availability for late seating dinner childcare. We REALLY appreciate this. Thanks!

jtjcwise- I grew up in Rock Lake Village. I went to Spring Hill Jr. High, right across the bridge from Dunbar. Now I think it is an elem. I lived 22 years in So. Charleston, until I got married and moved to Indiana. My parents and grandmother have retired to Tenn. I have a few aunts left in WV and that is all, so I haven't been there for a long time. But I will always be a Mountaineer in my heart.

i know exactly where Rock lake Village is. I remember when there used to be a large pool in the Rock Lake area. The Spring Hill Jr High is in fact an elem. now.

Today is WV day by the way (the anniversary of when WV became a state and broke away from Virginia. Today is the 145 anniversary. Actually occurred during the civil War.) popcorn::

Actually I am just filling up space to try and reach 1900 ppsts. :teeth:

My Dw just called and said she has finished packing except for putting the dress clothes into the garment bag. She managed to get it all into 1 large suitcase, 1 large duffle bag on wheels, 1 samll suitcase, and the garment bag. She is a great organizer, probably because she is a math teacher :teacher: and good at solving problems.

I guess it is safe to go home now. :yay:

I have 22 minutes :hourglass until I am done with work until after the cruise.

stiej-I know that there are no more on-line Palo ressies left. I've checked everyday since 90 days out!! That doesn't mean that you couldn't get a ressie once you board. There are more ressies available once you board and dinner ressies seem to be pretty easy to come by according to most.

Flounders-I haven't a clue since I don't have young ones, it doesn't let me enter.

Jose-I do seem to be on the boards alot these days. Being a teacher and not doing a shred of work this summer, has given me alot of time!!!

Yes, Rock Lake Village had a huge pool that used to be a rock quarry. I lived across from Village Elementary School there. The elem. school is no longer there. It is an office building or something.:confused3

I read on the disboards in the regular questions that the Flying Dutchman ship was delayed by a storm and was suppose to be at Castaway Cay last week. So it will probably get there this week. So hopefully, we will get to see it. I wonder if they will let you get up close to it or on it? :yay:

I just finished making red sashes and head bands for Pirate night. I worked on my tricorn Pirate hat putting a skull patch and red band with a feather on it. I have a Pirates of the Caribbean shirt with black capris, so I needed the red sash. I made one for my roomie too.pirate:

Lee Anne - lots of prayers to you. I can certainly sympathize with you as DH has been very sick. To those leaving today--Have a safe trip--I'll be at work--UGH--if only I had won that big powerball I could live on DCL.

My older son laid out most of his clothes last night, so I have him almost packed. I remembered that they broke the handle on our suitcase last trip so have to figure out a way to secure that.

After 2 years of waiting I can't believe it's down to the last few days. Blake is missing quite a few graduation parties, so i hope he ends up having as good a time as 2 years ago!
Anyone know if he can go to the college meet and mingle even though he is only 17? He is starting college and might meet someone going to WVU.

Well have a great day--I guess I'll be posting to myself soon.

Wow, it is sure getting empy in here :worried: . I am getting very excited about leaving soon. We don't go until Friday morning but I have a lot to do before then. I have pulled out stuff for myself and my two DD's. It is sitting on the extra bedroom bed. Now the question is can we fit it all into the suitcases  . I was going to try and pack light but then I thought I would hate it if I needed something and didn't have it. So, I packed more. We will have to see how the weight limit goes at the airport.

I will try and help keep the postings going until we leave. Is anyone else bring door signs? Are you worried about getting them onto the plane after MusicGirl made those calls? I am not sure if I should try and carry them on or put them in the checked luggage. What are other people doing?

We don't head out until Saturday AM. Our DD has her Dance Recital on Friday night. That will be a late night with a very early rise for a 7 AM flight. We are so excited that I doubt we will get much sleep that night. We are ready.

I'm hoping someone posts that they just returned from CC and that the POC ship has finally arrived. We are keeping our fingers crossed. If they toss in a viewing of the new POC-2, then we will be on cloud 9. :cool1: :dance3:

I don't have a lime green shirt and will be running around with a group of 8 adults and 7 kids. I'll introduce myself to those I spot.

Our door on deck 2 will have a bunch of Mickey ears from Home Depot in picture magnet holders. One will say Luvcruising.

YES! It was pretty funny as DH is carrying bag after bag onto the scale with himself! We are close to the limit on one bag and all the rest are fine. We just had to get another bag! :lmao:

Hey guess what? I posted this on the main board, but we got our tickets for KSC and we can't enter until 1:30! I am so frustrated with that. What are we going to do for 5 hours? other than play ring around the rosie with all the trafic? I was telling DH that I was frustrated that we won't be able to see or do hardly anything at the ksc and guess what he said???? He said we will just have to go back! :woohoo: This is from the man that said this is it for WDW! Don't get me wrong, he loves WDW and loves to see me happy at my happy place, but he wants to see other things too. So we are planning a trip out west in a couple of years. BUT I guess I can start planning my next trip to WDW!!!! I figure we will do KSC, Discovery Cove, Universal, AND WDW! But shhhhh, don't say anything to DH on the cruise.... I have to be sneaky about this! :tiptoe:

Minnie- the usual weight limit is 50 pounds. If you are over, it costs $25. It is sometimes better to use 2 suitcases instead of one, so you don't go over the weight limit. This is especially true for coming home with all the souvenirs that we all buy. I have seen people buying suitcases in the gift shop the last night of the cruise. Their suitcases are a little expensive. Teri

I always buy a photo album for my 4x6 prints. I think I may get an album for the 6x8's I buy from Shutters. I could put in my ones from the past and the ones from this cruise. I would love to buy a Mexican skirt and peasant type top that are the style now. I am cheap though and don't want to pay too much. I will probably get everyone at home a tee shirt from Senor Frog or Carlos and Charlies if they have some I like. But my love is to buy jewelry- especially pink sapphires or diamonds. For those of you doing WDW before DCL...Fast Passes are the key. Get one right away, then get another one as soon as the time arrives when you can (some FP show you the time you can get one others may not...if they don't, just try to get one and it will show you the time on the "invalid" FP).

This is important...you do not need to go back in the time range on the FP...just no earlier than the first time. We have used FPs hours later. Twice this week we gave people extra FP because we wore out before they did!

dipdotdarlin'
06-21-2006, 08:27 PM
LeeAnne- do an online check-in. I never know what to fill in on those forms, so I go online. Just go to www.disneycruise.com and click my Disney cruise. Then put in your confirmation number, your birthday and go. You have to fill our stuff for each one of you going on the cruise. Don't forget to think twice if you have kids and giving them charging priveledges. After you fill in your personal info and how you are going to pay, you will have to print out a signature page or pages. After printing them, don't forget to bring them to registration. All you need then at registration is the signed signature sheets, your ID, passports or birth certificates. You do not have to fill out any of the document forms then. If you forget to bring the signed sheets to registration, you have to fill out the documents then. It is so much easier doing it online ahead of time.:thumbsup2 Teri

OK, I have a foldable soft sided cooler that can go on a wheeled pull along,I was going to stop on way to port and fill it with water and wine. Will they let me on ship with that? Also the pull along is pretty heavy to pack from here to Florida any suggestions? :confused3 Would I use the cooler for say the beach at Coz or the excursion/Maj beach in CM? If it's not neccessary I wont even bring it.

Hi Lee Anne - We used one of those coolers on our first cruise. We packed it with soda (before available at drink station), water and beer. We had no problem bringing it on the ship. They even checked it with the rest of our luggage so we didn't have to lug it around with us!

LeeAnne- from what I understand, you can bring the cooler onboard with drinks as long as there is no ice in it and the drinks are unopened. I have used a soft cooler when we go to the beach on our own. We fill ziplocs with ice from the ship and put in the soft cooler. I usually take a thermal cup and put my pop and ice in it at the beach to drink. My hubby just puts his cans of pop in the cooler and drinks from the can. The ziplocs keep the water from melting ice from getting all over everything. The soft coolers don't keep the ice as well as the hard coolers, but it better than nothing.:thumbsup2 Teri

Don't worry, you won't be alone. I am at WDW, but I have a Blackberry and I am checking in. Haven't added much because typing is tedious. Waiting for DH and DS to get off Mission Space (not my kind of ride).

DD is off with a friend she met on the last DCL cruise. They just happen to have one day they would both be at WDW together and they are very excited to be together. Unfortunately, they are on different cruises this time, her friend boards the day we leave.

What do you think about starting a thread for a live cruise trip report? I don't want to do my own trip report, but thought we could have one for all of us to post news for anxious future cruisers?

I am still here. I leave at 3:30am for the Indy airport. I have my bag packed, but still have to do my carry-on. Everything is ready for that.

Meg- ziplocs come in handy for lots of things. I use them to put ice in for beach days in the soft cooler. Also to put cookies and sandwiches in for excursions too. You are not suppose to take that kind of stuff off the ship, but they don't check and it helps when you are hungary and don't want to pay high prices. I use them for all kinds of other things too.

I can't wait to see everyone at the meet 4:30pm on deck 10. :cool1: Teri

OK.....how about this for a fun trip home story? (I know I saw a bunch of you at the airport.....I was too stressed to talk about it then, but it's over and we're home how.) DS-6, who seemed to be feeling perfectly fine all morning, very quietly announced when we were about 20 minutes away from Port Canaveral that he thinks he's going to throw up. Having seen at least a couple other 5-7 year olds throw up on deck during the week, I didn't bother to even question whether he could wait until we could reach a gas station.....I pulled over immediately (like 70 to 0 in 30 seconds or less).....alas.....not quick enough. Quick enough for the siblings to get out of the rental van, but not DS-6. We started digging through the trunk for semi-clean clothes, wipes to clean the van, etc. I stripped him down to his underwear on the side of the road and got him changed. DH continued to clean the van.....but wait.....the story doesn't end there. Next thing I know DS-6 is jumping up and down crying and slapping at his legs. He'd been standing on a fire ant nest. I pick him up, pull off the long pants and continue to kill ants. Now ants are all over the van, so we go on an ant killing spree. At this point, the other 2 kids are standing on the pavement out of fear of being in the weeds near the fire ants, which makes me even more crazy as traffic on 528 is wizzing by at 70+. Anyway, we all got back into the rental van which actually cleaned up surprisingly well. Shortly after that I saw all of you near the Airport food court.....sorry I wasn't too social.....I was pretty stressed by then and just praying that we'd make it home without anyone else vomiting in awkward places. Good news is that we did.....DS is now much better.....his biggest problem is I wouldn't let him eat or drink all day, so he's feeling pretty appreciative for the saltines and water he's now enjoying.

I'll have to think about June 2008 another day! I'm just happy to be home now! :thumbsup2

Just wanted to say how great it was to meet everyone. Me too!!
We had an amazing cruise, even though the weather could have been better.

Sorry we didn't get to meet up with everyone, but to those we did--and you know who you are--you made our cruise so much more enjoyable. For anyone still on vacation--enjoy it.

Hi all

We are back home. I hate that we missed meeting most of you. DS schedule just was not on the DIS schedule :( I am glad that we finally got to meet a few of you at Serenity Bay the 2nd CC stop. I had planned to go to Rockin Bar D with you all that night but ended up packing till 1 am :guilty:

How was the Costa Maya meet? We went off the ship to join you and it started pouring, so we got right back on waited the rain out, DS went down for a nap and by then it was too late to go to the beach @ Maj so we circled the shops and went back to the ship.

Safe trip Charla. Weird how you can't cancel your excursion.

Wanted to follow up on this one....I couldn't cxl my excursion online the night before we left....Wed. night. Called DCL the next day (Thurs) from the airport. The response was that the cutoff is 11:59 pm ET, I'm CT and was on past that time which is why I couldn't cxl. I questioned why I couldn't cxl because the policy is supposed to be w/in 48 hrs of commencement and we couldn't get on the ship at 11:59 ET Friday night (Thought to myself... the boat hasn't even reached PC by then). The CM spoke with a supervisor and after a few minutes hold he came back and said it was taken care of w/ no penalty :cheer2:

I posted this on the "tipping" thread and thought I would add it here, also.

We just got back from the 6/24/06 Magic cruise. We had a concierge suite, and our teens spent a lot of time in the Stack. I know that concierge and the counselors cannot receive cash tips.

Before our trip, I took a picture created by Musicgirl (thanks, Lorie!). It was a picture of the Magic from a previous cruise. Musicgirl added our names and the words "Double Dip" and the June 24, 2006 date to the picture. I uploaded the picture to Walmart.com and for eighty-eight cents each, I created gift cards with this picture. I then loaded them with various denominations and used them for tipping the positions which cannot receive cash. I also tucked some in with our thank you cards and cash tips as "extra" for special services. I taped the receipt to the back of each just to make sure they wouldn't have problems using them.

The gift cards can be used at a Walmart store (I checked, they do have a bus to Walmart every Saturday for CMs) or online at walmart.com (they could order something and have it shipped to themselves or their family).

They were well received. Concierge did tell me that they checked with their manager and they were given permission to keep them. They had mentioned that sometimes they couldn't keep gift cards (particularly if they were money cards like VISA gift cards). I am not sure why they worked ... perhaps because these had a special design specific to our trip, or because they were Walmart ... but I am glad they did.

Well, I can't believe it is over. The week went by so fast and we had a blast. Being with a very large group, we did not have a chance to mingle. We have tons of memories and photos. Thanks for sharing ideas and plans, we all learned from each other and being prepared helps to make the cruise more enjoyable. For those who were at the Rockin D Bar for the adult ventriloquist show, Clara and Pepe are my in-laws. They had a blast and enjoyed the attention. We will be on another cruise in June or July of 2008. The dates are not yet released so we are temporarily booked the last week of 2007 and will switch when the dates and itineraries are announced. So long for now and I wont wait so long before joining the next sailing group of Disers. Time to get ready to start a new countdown. :hourglass :wave2:
