Hey All:
Just to let you all know I am still on board in the WDW Suite. Beind that tax season is started I am in full swing at my office and do not have much time to monitor the boards. I did offer to have a tour of the room to start off the cruise meet. Lets do it earlier in the cruise than later. You all know, less time for the kids to destroy the place.
As an update, we have me DH 40-DW( Well very close to me)-There is no abbreviation for darling Mother-In-Law and our four kids, DD-11, DS-9, DD-7, and DS-4. Our DD at seven is will only be 5 weeks from her 8th birthday and am positive she will want to go into the Lab.
So please , if one person wants to keep me update by my email as to when mee times are set, for both us and the kids, please send me a summary. I would really appreciate it.
Disney Jim
Jim, glad you're still on board with the Walt Disney Suite. :jumping1: Currently we are planning a meet at 3pm on Embarkation Day between the Mickey and Goofy pools, I think on the Starboard side, since the kids will be anxious to get in some pool time. What did you have in mind for a tour of your place? Maybe we could help with some ideas if you're not sure. Let us know. :goodvibes
pirate: I also wanted to tell people if you're looking for Pirate attire I went into this store at the mall the other day and they had lots of pirate shirts and gear, it's called Hot Topic and you can shop online too. http://www.hottopic.com/ You may have to search the site (and store) but they had a lot of pirate shirts, Disney things and Nightmare Before Christmas items too.
ETA: just looked over the hottopic website and couldn't find much in the way of shirts. However the store in the mall had a lot. Here's another site if anyone wants pirate tees. http://www.portroyaltradingco.com/pr_clothes1.html

Your pirate name is:
Dirty Tom Rackham
You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr! (Not you? Try it again.)
Eigher my computer is broke or I would have been a dirty pirate.

DH is Mad James Kidd pirate:
Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!
For the record, the weather in Michigan is also :scared1: . The postcards from Mickey came (thanks again to Verandah Man), but still no cruise documents. Oh well, only one more month :cool1:

You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!

OH the excitement mounts, we got our flight information today courtesy of the most wonderful Stepmom/Gramma in the world and Disney, I went to the tanning salon for the first time today ( I have this skin that turns bright red in the southern sun LOL) , unfortunately the weather in Buffalo NY is not friendly, but cant complain we have had barely any snow this year, and not too many really cold days, very strange actually...

I spoke to the French embassey regarding the French side of St. Martin, they said that if we were flying in we would have needed passports, but since we are coming in on a cruise ship and entering the Dutch side of the island we would have no problems with picture Id's and/or birth certificates. He couldn't even think of anywhere that would ask for them, since there is no real "border crossing" between the Dutch and French side. It put my paranoid feelings to rest. Now I can concentrate on more important things :cool1:

no worries... the only thing dividing the Dutch and French side, is a sign saying it's the point you are going into the French side. No check point at all. Just a photo op.

25 days and a few hours to go .... anyone excited ... I know you are all waiting for those doc's to show up but lets have a little infield chatter.
We have just reserved a room at the Gosverner for the night after the cruise figure we would take the kids to the park for a few hours insted of sitting at a hotel...
Anyone ordering baskets or stateroom stuff from Shirley or DCL
Whos going to palo and what night? we are going Sunday for brunch 10am and I think Wed or thur for dinner at 7pm

No docs yet :(
I am expecting them some time this week hopefully! Dying to know room assignment! We just booked CAT 11 GTY. I am hoping to get a CAT 10, so we get the split bath! But we will be happy with whatever.
We booked so late, that there were no more ressie's left for Palo. But we've never had a problem getting in. Hoping to do the brunch on Monday, and High Tea perhaps Sunday..all depends, never really have definite plans though. We usually just get on wait list a day we decide to go, and have never had a problem. Dinner will depend on our dining rotation. We will probably skip the Parrot Cay menu (our least favorite) if we can, unless we end up there on formal night...
Happy planning all. We are probably doing Philipsburg shopping in St. Martin, and Meghan's bay in St. Thomas... not booking excursion, just planning to do it on our own. I am pretty familiar with the Eastern ports of call.
Yippie, it's getting closer!

shelly, wondering if you can address the nudity issue on the beaches. Not a prude or anything, LOL (as a nurse I've seen more naked bodies than I care to remember :rolleyes1 ). Just wondering how it would be with the kids. When I mentioned the possibility to them they were a bit silly and :rotfl:
disneygatorfan
01-23-2006, 05:25 PM
Been to Orient Beach twice, and saw nudity both times... not in excess though, but you do have one or two who will walk the beach in their birthday suits. It's always been, how can I say it?, your more plentiful and aged birthday suit.
It's not a lot though, at least in my experience. Just the odd man or women who walks the beach. I think you see more of it, if you walk the beach towards the nudist resort, that is toward the end of the beach. But we always stuck to the "reserved" section for the DCL excursion guests, and we never had DCL guests get down to the birthday suit... I read a thread though where a DCL guest did try to get a "no tan lines" tan.
I think if you prepped them before hand, and stuck to the DCL section, or the more family sections, and stay clear of the nudist resort side... you will be fine. Your kids just might see one or two grandmas and grandpas baring it all.

01-23-2006, 05:26 PM
P.S.
Just an FYI, nude sun bathing is not allowed on the Dutch side of the island, only the French side. But they say the best beaches are on the French side.
In addition, nude and topless sunbathing is not allowed in St. Thomas and St. John.

my parents went to Orient beach on their last DCL cruise, and said the same thing the naked bodies were not the model type :rotfl2: we are going there on this cruise, and taking my almost 5 yr old, we just explained that he could go swimming "nudie", and he said only if PaPa goes :rotfl: didnt seem to concerned, they are the naked ones and if they get looks, hey we are mostly americans, and we are just not used to it LOL...
I heard from my family that the beach is worth the exposure to the Nakedness LOL....

IF they make him stay with 3-4's he will stand out LOL. he will be five in June but I am going to talk to the CM's about trying him with the older kids as his does better at school with the bigger kids too. Off to buy standard medicines for the trip tomorrow... LOL and my tan looks good already too, yeah I cheat.

Sounds like the DOC dance is beginning with everyone...
we got our stateroom assignment 5637... its a CAT 11 (what we booked) so no split bath... but I am excited about the location... it's midship, so now no worrying about elevators.. can take stairs everywhere if we want.
I have just been spoiled because on my two December cruises we had verandahs...
still really excited about our location.. Deck 5 is great for getting to dinner and shows.. since you can take the stairs. That is the time the elevators are super busy...so will be good to just run down the stairs.

LOL, everyone keeps asking me about the man with the horse. I am a big fan of author James Herriot, the English veterinarian. It's him (I don't know if it's charcoal or not). paw:
You gotta love the Dis. The other day I got an email from another Dis-er who lives in James Herriot's hometown in Yorkshire and happens to take his cat to the current day veterinary practice that was owned by Mr. Herriot during his lifetime. As a special treat he included a copy of an article he'd written for the hometown newspaper about his day at the vet's with his cat!! :goodvibes :rotfl: :disrocks:

I have read people are starting to get there documents. I am starting to get concerned.
This is our first cruise, and if there is any kind of medical form that has to be filled in and sent back for everyone, it may be a problem. Is there anything like this that is needed?
burma

Dont worry the documents are turned in at the port the day we cruise all the info needed come in little books for each cruiser and you dont have to send anything in early ..... It seems the floridians have got there docs but they are in florida the rest of us should start gettting them sometime over the next few weeks ... If you dont have them a week before the cruise call DCL and they will overnight them to you ... but there should be no cause for concern yet ...

Burma..thanks for the info on the docs, and you are so lucky. I am a huge planner at work, and not having things way ahead of time, kind of stresses me out. I am thinking that maybe next week we will get them..we booked through AAA, and most likely they will look at them first to see if ok.
Happy to hear that they have reached RI though..hopefully soon to your neighbor state up north

Lazeric .... I assume you are in Mass? Family is good everyone is looking forward to getting out of here ... I too like to plan a bit and was a bit stressed out because I had not bought plane tickets until yesterday.... been watching the prices a bit .... or a bit too long .... never the less we seem to have all our arrangements made ... staying at the Raddison the night before ... Southern elegance from MCO to Raddison and from the Port back to a Hotel in downtown Disney for the night .... and back north on Sunday .... phew what else is there to do but just kick back and wait for the DIS meet at 3pm on the 18th ....

We are flying down late Thur evening, more like early Fri morning, staying at French QUarter (Port Orleans), spending the day at Magic Kingdom Friday, and then off to the cruise sat morning. TA said that the transfers willl take us from there to ship. I worry about things like that, but I am sure she is correct.

Hi all! I've been lurking for a bit-not posting. Its been a rough month or two here. All is well-everyone is fine. Except me, of course. My shoulders are so tense, they could be used as a carving board!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR 2/17!!!!
I'm gonna whine for a bit. I didn't lose any of the weight I wanted to. On the upside, I saved a fortune on clothes. I didn't need ot buy anything new!! LOL
My dh has some health issues and it gets hard for us, the family, dealing with the fallout.
My DD has gone through a hard time dealing with everything.
Our first Christmas without my MIL was a disaster. Honestly, I tried too hard. You know what I mean? I should have let the holidays take their course.
Ok enough whining!! Lets go!
How are we gonna know each other at port?? Let's see if we can work that out!

Someone had mentioned shirts but I think its a bit to late for that ... on the other hand you can always get the Iron on Transfer stuff from staples and we can try to come up with a graphic/logo that people could print out and make their own t-shirts ...
or the green mickeys from home depot always work as a name tag real or board name so when we are all walking around deck 9 looking for our table we can find similar people who only know their family members ...
any other ideas??
Pea-n-Me
01-28-2006, 01:44 PM
Dreamer, glad things are looking up for you and nice to see you posting again! :thumbsup2
I had an idea about cutting out a large green Mickey head, writing something to the effect of February 18, 2006 DIS-ney Magic - A Long Time Coming! (LOL) and taping it to the wall at our meeting spot so everyone could find it. Thoughts? DD8 likes art projects so I figured she might like to make it.
Dave (or anyone else), if you go to Home Depot would you be able to pick up some extra little green Mickey heads so that if people want, they can write their screen name on it so people know who's who? I'll try to get there, too, and I'll bring some fabric tape.
I must say I can't wait to leave this freezing New England weather behind! :cold: Looks like we'll be having a Nor-easter on Tuesday, too.
Eric, don't worry about the DCL bus - it comes to POFQ as people who do the Land/Sea stay there. When you check in just make sure they know you'll be getting on the bus and be there before the time they say the bus arrives.
We are going down on Wed night, have booked 3 way transfers so hopefully that goes smoothly. Have never been without a car before so this is a first. :car:
Did everyone get their documents? Be sure to fill them all out before you get to port, it saves time at check in. :hourglass There was a letter in with the docs that explains they've staggered the dinner times a bit, so that early seating could be 5:30pm, 5:45pm or 6pm, etc (same with late). Supposedly will cut down on crowds in the areas for pictures and such. That should be interesting. I hope we don't get 5:30 - even 6 is a little too early for us, hate leaving the fun to go get ready for dinner. My dream would be to do a cruise someday which does not require getting dressed up for dinner!! :cheer2: Anyone else?
OK, so who's doing tuxes? Who's dressing up for Pirate Night? Anyone bringing costumes for the kids for the character breakfast, Tea With Wendy or Princess greetings? My DD8 will be. DS8 will be too, but I don't know if he'll actually wear it. pirate:

Haley's mom I still cant figure out how to wrap the text like you did in the LILO pic.... sent you the t-shirt file ... stole your lime green mickey so I did not have to scan one ... hehe was at wal-mart today they had t-shirt transfer paper with all the Avery products ....

Dave,
Thanks for the t shirt design. It looks great. We got transfer paper and magnetic paper yesterday.
I just used the text tool on photoshop (arc) to bend the text. Check out the DIS design forum. That's where I got the Lilo and the lime green mickey. There are lots of good ideas to lift. I can email you the blank template if you need, so that the resolution is better.

I found this on the door sign thread and modified it for our cruise. It is designed to go around the porhole/door numbers. We can personalize it further (with family names) if needed or if anyone can come up with a good group name.
Let me know if anyone is interested or if I have just gone over the edge with photoshop and need an intervention. :Pinkbounc

Hope everyone is having a good week. Btw, those t-shirt and door magnet designs look great! I've just started packing for the cruise and am getting VERY excited. Picked up suntan lotion, extra camera batteries and some extra sandals today...but still waiting for those elusive DCL documents to arrive. LOL, I wanted to get a jump on packing and it's kept me very busy. I went to pull out shorts for DS and they were all too short - how could that be, they just fit him a few months ago?? :scratchin
This was something I wrote on another thread.
Well I've been busy packing believe it or not. I have to say this is the most complicated trip I've ever had to pack for. DH is taking care of his own things, but I'm trying to get clothes for the rest of us for both WDW and the cruise. We were in WDW last January and it was :cold: at night so I know I have to bring warm clothes for all (Laurie, how was it last week?) but it will be warm in the Caribbean so we need summer clothes for the ship. We also have formal nights, pirate nights and five other dinners to dress for on the ship so getting all those things plus jewelery, shoes and such is daunting. To make matters worse the kids are growing like weeds so some clothes are small, some are too big, shoes don't fit, etc. :rolleyes1 I've had all our closets torn apart (and cleaned them while I was at it) with clothes and suitcases everywhere. Now mind you, I'm not complaining :teeth: it's just been a little overwhelming. My poor dog is nervous seeing the suitcases, she knows somethings up - I'm going to miss my little buddy while we're away paw: .
Happy packing everyone!! :stir: Hope you've all received your documents by now! :sail:

We received our documents on Monday. My sister did too. :cool1:
Linda, your idea sounds great. I think my sister is going to come to the meet, although she doesn't post on the boards. Her kids are 3 and 5. Dave - Playmates for your kids.
We're going to make an attempt at dressing for Pirate Night. pirate: So far I have the eye patches, earrings etc. Joe has his Pirates of Carribean T-shirt. Can he wear that to dinner?? Is it that casual?
Think I'm going to skip the door magnets. Love the idea and you guys did a fabulous job - they all look incredible. Just to much going on and we're down in the hallway by the bridge so it will only be my family seeing them anyway. Maybe next cruise.
Didn't know about the dinner seating changes until recently. Does anyone know how they do Animator's now with the staggered seating times. Do they just wait until everyone is seated before the show starts?
:confused3 now I'm getting in the vacation mode... For St. Thomas I think we're gonna cab over to Coki Beach - Coral World but I would like to take a ride in the Paradise Tramway if we have time. Anyone know if that is within walking distance of the ship? Thanks all.

See you all on the 18th. :sunny:

ok so I took it upon myself to use my day off to work on my door magnets and t-shirts ... let me preface this by saying I dont do any sort of laundry unless you want all pink clothes ... I think the shirts came out great I used the graphic I made on the back of them and on the front I used the scan of the green mickey with the www.disboards.com (http://www.disboards.com) logo .... the magnets on the otherhand are ok in my opinion .... I am having a tough time with PSP, I really dont have the time to learn it an its frustrating ... We are on deck 6 so look for my door and let me know what you think ... my wife is very excited and since she likes to pack early and I always pack the night before should be starting to pack very soon ...

Now to just get through these next two weeks.
We will try to get to the meet, unfortunately with my work schedule I cant do the t-shirt thing, we are flying in late so may not get to the ship and settled by 3pm. You people are making me feel guilty! Was off to a good start last week then got sidelined with Science Fair(my DS11 won 1st Place...WOO HOO!), basketball, stupid car mechanical problems(grrrrrr), etc....ya know, the usual STUFF :rolleyes2
STILL haven't received documents....please say I'm NOT the only one :rolleyes1 Not really that worried...I've got the best PDS(Pixie Dust Specialist aka Disney Agent) in the world who's checked them over and assures me they're on their way to my front door :woohoo:
So today I'm in full cruise mode...:boat:
Pea-n-Me, I'm hitting the library next week to stock up on James Herriott books
Burma, thanks for the link! Been thinking about my door magnet...also an interesting thread about door magnets being stolen and whether to include first and/or last names, hometowns, DIS names, etc...
Haley'smom, congrats on receiving docs...still waiting here with baited breath...dang it! :p
pirate: Trying to get DS11 to try on watershoes, sandals, bathing suits is my big challenge this week :smooth: Luckily Walmart and Target already have summer stuff out...rather get it cheap now as with the way he's growing, anything he wears now will probably be too small by the time summer rolls around.
:scratchin Now I know I have TWO DCL lanyards around somewhere...they tend to show up at odd times during the year then hide the one week I REALLY need them :p Maybe in DS11's room? Hmmmm...better check out his top drawers...he tends to keep the good stuff there ;)
As far as flight plans.....we're flying to MCO via SWA on Friday and Priceline granted us a decent rate at the Airport Marriott. Some other DIS friends are meeting us for breakfast then we head back to MCO to catch the DCL transport to Port Canaveral...we love riding the bus and watching the ever popular cruise video along the way....we get so excited and then before ya know it, you're going over that hill and getting your first peak at the Magic and the whole bus goes bonkers with excitement :yay: :cool1: :goofy: :mickeyjum

cadburysmom, I didn't mean to give the impression I was ready to walk out the door today. I should have said I'm ready to go but am not actually packed yet, LOL. Big difference. :teeth:
I'm taking baby steps but the kids clothes have been quite a challenge since they're growing so fast and everything seems to be too small, too short, too big, etc... So I've had to do shopping I hadn't anticipated but we're making progress... I am not going to fuss, that's for sure. If we don't have something we can live without it for a week.
If you love dogs may I suggest James Herriot's Favorite Dog Stories. I have an extra copy I'd be happy to lend you. ;)
This morning I was at Curves and someone yelled out, "hey how was your cruise"? Told her I was going next week and someone else asked what ship I was going on. It was so cool to be able to say Disney Magic!!! :wizard: :cool1: Lots of oohs and aahs from others listening. I'm afraid I'm going to be confused about certain things like names - already I can't tell you if breakfast is at Topsiders or Beach Blanket and whether we're eating dinner in Triton's or Lumiere's. :confused3 :rotfl: Oh well, we'll figure it out!

Kinda slowed down a bit this week, ds had a cold which I was trying to keep away with zicam, but alas it hit me hard yesterday, called my doc, as I tend to go right to bronchitis so going in tomorrow to get checked out and hopefully a script and a note in case I have my big cough for the trip LOL.
Mostly done here packing have some laundry to cart over to my parents this weekend and a few last minute items to pick up will finish that up while ds is at his dads this weekend, other then that praying for head to clear up, and tying up loose ends at work and home.
I had to preplan my lessons for my class of 2yr olds :rotfl2: so my aide has a good strong plan while we are gone.
Cant wait to get out of here
Burma: definitely will catch up with you my son would do much better with a friendly face in the club, if I could figure out how to get a pick up here I would...

Hi everyone!! Looking forward to meeting everyone on the ship.
Quick question for everyone..who ahsn't already left.
We are leaving tomorrow evening, going to French Quarter until Sat, picked up and then taken to cruise. We received these green and white sticky tags that said FRCH on top. I am assuming that means french quarter.... My concern, being that we get in at mindnight tomorrow night, how do I know if these are Magic Express, or do I have to get my luggage from the turnstyle. I didn't get any magic express tag along with this..thought I might. My TA says that we have Magic Express, but I don't want to get to the airport, and not know what to do.
Is anyone else traveling and transferring this way?
Thanks for your help!!!
Eric
rottie110
02-15-2006, 12:42 PM
Eric, Unfortunately we ar still here :lmao:
We have the magical express for our luggage and bodies also, we are going direct to the ship but we have bright lime green colored luggage tags, my step mom has done this before and the colors and codes on them are so the airline knows they are disney (green color) and the codes are for disney to deliver to the right spot so you shouldnt see your luggage until you get to your hotel... I just noticed your arrival time, you may want to call disney and just ask how that will work for you at that time of night, or do they have a bus picking you up at the airport, if so you are all set, you can ask the cm who will meet your family at the gate, if you have disney transportation to the resort also.
Oh yeah, and you should have transfer vouchers in your book of paperwork that you recieved too.
See you on the ship, we didnt get to make the shirts but will look for them.
Lazeric
02-15-2006, 01:22 PM
That clears up so much...
Our bags say FRCH on the 16th. then to port on the 18th. Only concern is that my brown book doesn;t say anything about us being transferred to port orleans that night, but my TA assues me that we are all ok. If not, will be thumbing it down the highway.
This is our first cruise, we did not make shirts either, but we will look for those who have...please describe them for me.
Also, you have any children travelling with you. Me and my partner have a, 11yo daughter, and we are travelling also with her godparents.
Best;

Hi everyone. Hope you are all really enjoying your time on the Magic and made it safe and sound. I was hoping one of you could do something for me. Ken in room service just got back on the ship today. He is an amazing guy, one of the funniest and sweetest people on the ship. He made ours and other DIS members cruise in Nov very special. I was hoping if anyone was planning on ordering room service if they could ask what is the cake of the day and inquire about fruitcake. On our first night we called for the cake of the day and it was fruitcake and I joked that I wasn't taking the fruitcake passed on from the last cruise. The next night it was the same and from then it became a great joke with recipes and surprise deliveries to follow with all of room service getting in on the joke. It would really make him smile considering he is just returning after his vacation. Thanks for listening.

Thank you dreamer, but don't need to mention me just ask, Ken will know and you will be part of it. He really is one of those special people you meet once in a life time. You can't help but to smile around him. Thanks.

Same to you, Dave. :goodvibes We rebooked for '07 but on Wonder, we'll be traveling with a large group from home, many first time cruisers. Will definitely rebook Magic on that trip for '08 - really loved the 7 night cruise. :cloud9:
I got a nice shot of some of the kids from our thread in the Oceaneer Lab on Thursday night - my kids, Mykel Mouse's DS, Tink Fan's DD, Haley's Mom's DD, and Dreamer's DD. If you want a copy, let me know.
Anyone else still swaying? :boat:

I would love a copy, Linda! Maybe post it for us all to see?
I am still swaying, too! I had to take Dramamine yesterday, it was so bad.

Just wanted to say that we really had a great time meeting everyone (and sorry that we did not see everyone). I think that my DD spent a lot more time with your kids than she did with us.
As you can see we are now hooked and have rebooked for Easter 2007. Unfortunately, the schools here in Michigan are not as consistent with the February break schedule so we went with Easter (easier to pinpoint).
I have not gone through all of my pictures yet, but if I have any of the kids or anything else I will be glad to share.
Thanks again for all of your help and suggestions, we had the best trip and can't wait to do it again. :cool1:
