Anyone remember Tina Majorino (Deb) from Waterworld? Not that memorable of a movie, but she played the little girl with the "dry land" map tattooed on her back.

Great pic, Julie--The shirts sold well in the stores, along with the moon boots, but I wonder how come the wigs weren't such a hot item? :confused3

Gotta go--I'm off to practice D-Kwon's dance moves and then to my Rex Kwan Do class. :rotfl:

(actually, time for dinner out west)
Have a good nite all!

Oh, BTW, I didn't say this earlier, but WAY TO GO!!! CG on your size 10! :cheer2: I'm very impressed! I'm working on it too, with WW points and all. Not working nearly hard enough, down only 5.5 since November, lol. It's time to get serious. I would be happy to lose inches regardless of weight.

Okay, I'm really going now...

Hi all,I saw the first picture of my brothers baby today. It was great to see she had two eyebrows. This is a big deal in a portuguese family not to have a unibrow.

After all this talk it should be easy to spot me on the cruise....a hairy portuguese man in a speedo(aka banana hammock)with one eye brow and a pirate hat on.I bet you ladies can't wait to meet me.

You guys are too much! I go to dinner and look what you fall into! What is this mush about Napoleon Dynamite?! Are you guys like weird kooks? Am I just finding this out now?! OH LORD! What have I gotten myself mixed up in?!?!!

CG - I hope Quinn is feeling better. Poor little guy! Tell him Tori sends a smoochie to make it all better! (Kisses and tape make everything better, doncha know? said in my best Edie McClurg voice)

Good dinner.....they had crawfish on the menu!!! ALLLLRRRRIIIIIIIIGGHHTT!!!
Tori scarfed up more than I did! Always get the sampler appetizer - keeps you from getting bored with your food....wings, ribs, catfish, chicken tenders, cajun fries.....my veins are swelling as we speak! BUT it was SOOOOOO good! Can food be orgasmic?!

On that note, I'm going to bed! TIRED! Tori's class party is hoopefully tomorrow but the room mom won't be there so I offered to be there in case it happens! The kids would be so disappointed if they didn't get a party...boohoo....

I just hope that the banana hammock run doesn't look like a tennis match gone bad..... :lmao: :lmao:

Partypat- HGP asked me tonight, after he brought me a bottle of Russian River Valley Chard. Every bottle of wine that I have had that was a Russian River Valley Chard(Clos Du Bois Reserve this time) that I have ever had has been excellent. Now they all say "Sonoma" on them...not that nasty 4 letter word. Anyway, he just asked me what makes the Russian River Valley wines so good? If you have an answer...we'd love to hear it!!!

Rex: Take a look at what I'm wearing, people. You think anybody wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys? Forget about it. Last off, my students will learn about self respect. You think anybody thinks I'm a failure because I go home to Starla at night? Forget about it!

Rubysmom-it was you!! I need a pen like that. Meanwhile, I got this gift set for HGP for Christmas at our favorite big box retailer....sorry CG- and somewhere along the line I missed that you work for BJ's....do they have clothes too? It came with the DVD, the talking doll and the Tshirt!!! I got him several more things, but he tells me that this was his best gift of all time. Go figure!

I got a SPA day for Valentines day. I almost cried. I can't wait. So I am going to schedule it for the day we fly out. In the morning, I will get my massage, spa mani and spa pedi. I will chill out(literally) and then we fly out at 3. Perfect. All that means is that I HAVE to be packed and ready to go Thursday night. Can I do it during my busiest season since Christmas(Mother's Day?) who knows.

Suziemva,

As for the photo album, I started to post something, and realised that I don't have any recent pictures. I could start with our last family picture, which was taken like 3 years ago when we renewed our vows in front of Cinderella's castle. :bride: The girls are both taller than me now, so there has certainly been a big change there. I'll start with that tonight, but keep in mind they are old. I'll take a look and see what else I can find.

CG- Pulllleeeezzz to you.....I'd be all over your junk if I didn't like you so much!!!! I am just a Cosco junkie. Can't help it. I'd probably be a BJ's junkie if there was one close to us. And NO.....I don't do Walmart or Sams. Just can't take all the women abusing their kids physically while shopping and trying to book their appearance on the Jerry Springer show all at the same time. Sorry! Someday- we will have to have an educated(if not alcohol induced) :rotfl: discussion on why shopping at Costco makes me a neophyte....especially because I am sure you are familiar with the demographic studies on both chains.

Funny story-Mike works for Budwiser and he used to drive a Mazda or something(which is FINE by the way). I worked for GM and drank Sam Adams at the time(before I realized that it gives you gas like you never experienced). He used to bug me about drinking Sam Adams, and I told him I'd drink Budwiser when he bought a Chevrolet.....Well, do you know what he did.... YEP!!! Saved me from a lifetime of gas pains and bought a Chevy Truck. I switched to wine! Still, though, as much of a beer snob as I have become, there is nothing like an ice cold Bud on a hot summer day!!!

We don't have a Sams or a BJs up here, but we do have a Costco about 4 hours away. I don't know what I would do without Walmart. I now live only 15 minutes away from a Walmart, but it closes at 6:00 every day. You have to be organized to be able to shop there. It does stay open until 9:00 on Friday nights though. And that is the largest city around for about 150 miles. On the edge of my land is where the nearest town starts, but it is so small that it doesn't even have street names. It is pretty though. Just posted a picture of our tobaggan hill on the other site. Only recent picture I can find, don't want to show our house at the stage it's in right now. My husband and kids are in the picture, but it's from almost 1/2 mile away, so can't see much I guess. :confused3

Hey Jen
Wow , your DH works for Budweiser , my Dad just retired from there , he has been there since Schlitz . You get free beer too !!! The perks are worth it alone , free tickets to Busch Gardens , Sea World and Sesame Place . Thats why we do Tampa every year :) . Always a stocked bar too , we have the rolling Bud cooler that gets good use every summer camping .

I have to say guys good thing my friends are not coming along on this cruise , it may have ended up being a Mickey pool skinny dipping party sure may have scared:scared1: everyone off the ship , now that I think of it it may not have been such a bad idea .

PS , Funny story now that I have opend my mouth . we were in the pool one night with the light on , mind it take you we have neighbors that are at least an acre away , well my dog Simmi got loose and sure enough here come my mild manner neighbors over with my dog , dang it !! o.k o.k Well I feel I know you all so well that I can be a bit more like my looneytoon self .

Well I should be off to bed but somehow since Dh is away I have become sleep deprived , could have something to do with these boards !

Blbcb , Great pic , I did notice earlier that there was nothing there . Wow , did you have your honeymoon at Disney ?

Since I'm babbling on . I did call Dsiney and asked about formal night . we booked Palo that night so we didn't have to pack our formal wear and dang it , the lady said it would be more approperaite if we wore it still to palo that night .

I'm gonna get them done while Ed is in Palm Beach so that he can look at it before I send it. I used to do our taxes a long time ago but when we bought the house, way too much complication. I actually wanted to be a CPA, took three years of accounting in high school and helped Ed in his college business course he took a few years back! LOVED IT!! But then I like anything with numbers, guess that's why I was a Billing Manager at my last job! Only took me three years to get there! WOOHOO!! What a difference a day makes!! Now you've learned what loons we really are and how punchy we get late at night!!! Missed you guys!

BTW - mom and Grandma are setting up an appointment for a health care giver based on your advice to me. That was super helpful! She interviews some tomorrow. Still not doing great but she got her medic necklace to work (the system goes down and has to be reset each time they work on the phone lines in her building - what a crock!!! They need to figure out a new system!!!) Tonight is her first night alone since it all started. Mom was with her for a few nights since she got snowed in with her. She got up in the middle of the night fine by herself, no more falls. Goes back to the dr. tomorrow afternoon for more tests....we'll see how it all plays out. I HATE her doctor, but then again I HATE Kaiser!

Another side note: We've been kicking around names (Took me forever to come up with Victoria's name. Thank God for Animal Planet! I saw a really pretty Irish Setter on a show one day and her name was Victoria! That did it for me - I am a dog lover!) So anyway, we're thinking of Elizabeth Claire (grandma's first name, mom's middle name) or Meghan Elizabeth (Meghan just because today I like the name). And William Albert Mattern III if it's a boy. That was Ed's dad. He died 13 years ago this year of asbestos cancer he contrived from being in the Navy boiler room. Yup, that was a nice healthy settlement, but I'd rather have Pops back! Miss that old dog! Alot like Joe Paterno in mannerisms.....crusty old man with a tender heart! Love ya' Pops!

Okay, getting really chatty and maudlin now...gotta go!!!!

What a difference a day makes!! Now you've learned what loons we really are and how punchy we get late at night!!! Missed you guys!!!!!I can't wait for this cruise! We got our airline tix today.

I'm glad your grandmother is doing better. Sounds like she's making alot of progress; no more falls. Sorry you don't like your Kaiser doc. I've always liked KP; they were one of the first to put a strong focus on prevention. Call the AGS, they'll give you names of folks you might like better.

I like the names you've picked for your baby. It's such a gift to name children after people we love. Tangible hope for the future.

I'm off to bed. And you should too. :-)

Suzie-before I forget- I am so sorry you are up. I usually try to wake Pat up by kicking him repeatedly, that way, while he is awake I can try to fall asleep fast.

I love the names you have picked out. My sister's little girl is Meghan Elizabeth. We are going to see her this weekend. She is the cutest chubbiest 2 year old I ahve ever seen with big brown eyes and a shock of curly dark brown hair! Claire is beautiful too. Hannah is Hannah Elizabeth and Kate is Kathryn Grace. We started her life indending to call her Kathryn but she just isn't. She is a Katie all the way.

Case in point. I had an appointment with my accountant yesterday. She lives about 40 minutes from my house. nothing like a little vday trip to the accountant to make you feel loved  I have NO idea how we found her. But once a year is not bad, I guess.

She has a 4 year old and suggested that I bring crazy Kate. I knew as soon as we got there and surveyed their toys that I was going to have to take Kate out of there kicking and screaming. And I was right- but FIRST I had to remove the little girls brand new ballet outfit(which Kate was wearing with NO underwear) without ripping it or removing any of the mirabou at the bottom...... Katie is like a Magpie with the "shiny objects". Her shiny objects are mirabou and sequins! I warned the accountant before I did it and told her that it wasn't going to be pretty! And true to my word- meanwhile the woman and her daughter looked on with horror while I tried my best to stay calm. She kept sayinig...."It's ok Jen, she can borrow it.....". Like I was going to go back on my word just to shut her up. Tough time for a life lesson, but it had to be!

Needless to say- I am disappointed in myself that I had to hire an accountant. I used to love doing taxes. My dad and I were like human "deduction finders". Well, now Pat works in 1 state, lives in another, pays state tax to only 1. It got complicated, and I didnt' want to owe in error. Then the business- thank god for her- she's a better deduction finder than me!

Ohsodisney-Mike is Mermaid Patty's hubby. They live in Baldwinsville, NY. I don't know why I keep maybe erroneously referring to CNY if you don't live there. For some reason I thought you did. It wouldn't be the first major confusion on this board!

And as for WalMart! I was only half serious last night! Please don't FLAME :furious: me!! I am not a fan of Sams. WalMart I do like. In fact I think I am going to change my household purchases from Target to WalMart. Last time I went to Target for laundry detergent- I came out with way too much stuff. I can't imagine that it would be any different at WalMart, but at least the household stuff is cheaper. In reality-we have a target 3 miles from us, where Wally's is a good 15 minutes in a direction I never go. Sorry if I offended anyone with my wally's comment, it was intended as a joke!

I am chaperoning Hannah's field trip this monrning to Valley Forge Historical Park. I love it-we ride our bikes thru there in the warmer weather as it is only about a 5 minute drive from us. BUT- there is a foot of snow on the ground so it should be interesting!

HAve a good day all!

I have to laugh about your Walmart comment. Not offended at all, btw! We have gotten addicted to Beyond the Bull on TLC (behind the scenes tour with some PRC bull riders). The other night JW told his fiancee that Walmart is the Ultimate. You can get clothes there, do your grocery shopping, get your hunting supplies, get your haircut, and your nails done all at one place! What else do you need? I'm dying of laughter right now!

We are Target snobs most of the time but the Walmart here has a better toy section (for Tori, not Ed!) Everytime I go to Walmart with Tori during the day we see the manager walking around in mens suits and ladies shoes - size 14 by the looks! If we go at night, the manager is all woman - but what an ugly woman. Um, sweetie, if you're gonna dress in drag, please shave.....your face and your legs! UGH! 6'3", about 300 lbs....must be Portugese because of the unibrow and body hair....Steve, do you have any family down this way?!?! Not a pretty site.....

Gotta get Tori her breakfast. Slow going this morning....lots of naps today and NO soda for me!!!

Target and Walmart, and The Gap, and Old Navy, and Ann Taylor, and Ann Taylor Loft, and The Childrens Place, and Gymboree, and Kohls, and The Limited, and Hobby Lobby, and Marshall Fields, and of course The Disney Store!!!! Love shopping!!!! In fact, going today to do some returning, exchanging, buying!!! I am an addict!

Good morning all,

OhsoDisney, The picture on the other site is from our vow renewal in 2003. We wanted to do it for our 15th anniversary (June), but we didn't get there until the following April. It still was before our 16th anniversary, so I'm sticking to my story that we did it for our 15th. We will be married 20 years next year. Our honeymoon was fishing at the lake 20 minutes from home. We were straight out of high school and no money. We did finally get a nice trip to Mexico 4 years later, and came back with our oldest child! :thumbsup2 Product of Canada, made in Mexico?!

Suziemva,

You can move in anytime. You have to be able to use a hammer though. That seems to be all we do anymore. You will have to build your own room you see. Do you think you can handle a Canadian Winter? We just moved down south here 2 years ago, and I was checking the weather for our old home. -50 C last night up there! That is around -58 F. Can't say I miss the weather up there. We have a 1/4 section (1/2 mile x 1/2 mile square) if you want to build a cabin for the summer though. We are right along the boarders of a National Park and a Provincial Park.

I keep telling myself that I won't be checking in at this site all day, that I'm actually going to get some work done. You guys are too much fun and I keep finding myself checking to see if something else come up. I think I'm going to have to introduce my husband to the other pirates, he doesn't seem too excited about this trip. Few other things on his mind right now I guess. :rolleyes1

Tori's full name is Victoria Grace. Named her Grace after my mom's best friend who also was my voice teacher. (her daughter is one of my oldest friends, named...ELIZABETH!! whose daughter is also Victoria Grace but she's only a year old!) Grace is just one of those special people. She and my mom have known each other since 4th grade and went to school together in DC. Guess it is a really popular name!

Got my first bout with morning sickness today...just the icky tummy...should make life interesting on the cruise....anyone on deck 5 AFT Starboard side? Might want to change rooms....... :teeth:

Wow you definitely bet me last night , I manage to get to bed around 1:00 , that's good for me.

Well, I thought about starting tanning today but changed my mind since I would need 30 sessions before we leave . I'm just so pasty white that I blend in with my bed sheets.

One day, in line at the company cafeteria, Jack says to Mike behind him,
"My elbow hurts like hell. I guess I better see a doctor."
"Listen, you don't have to spend that kind of money," Mike replies.
"There's a diagnostic computer down at Walmart. Just give it a urine
sample and the computer'll tell you what's wrong and what to do about it. It takes ten seconds and costs ten dollars...a hell of a lot cheaper than a doctor."

So Jack deposits a urine sample in a small jar and takes it to Walmart. He
deposits ten dollars, and the computer lights up and asks for the urine
sample. He pours the sample into the slot and waits. Ten seconds later,
the computer ejects a printout: You have tennis elbow. Soak your arm in warm water and avoid heavy activity. It will improve in two weeks.

That evening while thinking how amazing this new technology was, Jack
began wondering if the computer could be fooled. He mixed some tap water, a stool sample from his dog, urine samples from his wife and daughter, and
masturbated into the mixture for good measure.

Jack hurries back to Walmart, eager to check the results. He deposits ten
dollars, pours in his concoction, and awaits the results. The computer
prints the following:

1. Your tap water is too hard. Get a water softener.
2. Your dog has ringworm. Bathe him with anti-fungal shampoo.
3. Your daughter has a cocaine habit. Get her into rehab.
4. Your wife is pregnant...twin girls. They aren't yours. Get a lawyer.
5. If you don't stop playing with yourself, your elbow will never get better.

Barb

Well, Barb, you and I have that in common. My husband is so up to his eyeballs right now in a capital campaign and just learning how to run his organization (just was made a CEO of his non-profit economic development organization) that it took him two days to finally be able to breathe and ask me how I did at 3 am with our ressies - can you beleive that? 2 whole days before I even got to tell him how it went! The one good thing I can say is that he is home every night at 5:30 to pick up the kids - but then he often has night meetings for boards he is either on or chairs.

I would love to visit Manitoba. I have never been to that part of Canada. The Eastern provinces I have been to often, but never central or west. It's on a must-do list of mine.

I can paint - but I kinda stink at the hammering thing.

OK - back at work - Grammy came to play with Quinn for the afternoon. You know a kid's sick when you go to the store and pick up cookie dough and they don't even want to make them or eat them. :guilty:

ohsodisney - girl, that was sick - but funny.

I know everyone's checking to see what antics we can pull off today, but I have nothin - I tell ya, nothin, in my repertoire today. I am having a very blah day today. I was driving my son to the grocery store this morning to get milk (and that cookie dough) and the kid starts crying for his Daddy - man, feeling the love! :guilty: I had just told him I didn't have his sunglasses for him in my car - not sure what Daddy could have done to rectify that situation, but for my overly sensitive child due to sickies, I had committed a mortal sin and needed replacement immediately. At least when I left home after lunch he did give me a big hug and told me he would miss me  I'm telling you, day care makes them so independant, but I could go for one day of screaming hysterics again like he used to do when I would leave him. Then, the next day, I would want that over with. That period stunk and broke my heart on a daily basis.

OK - so since that was a total downer, here's some more pirate stuff :

What did Captain Hook Die of?

Arrrrrr - Jock Itch!

Very nice jokes ladies!!! I especially like the "secret" pen effect! Ok Back from field trip hell and gotta tell you. Hannah's teacher has NO control over her class. I was SHOCKED!!! She is new and I think early in the year she made the mistake of wanting them to like her that she is paying for it now. We walked all over VF National Park on a beautiful 60 degree day in the snow!!?? IT was definately strange.

I coach grade 7 & 8 girls basketball at the school. I rushed in today to coach at lunch time, and all but three girls forgot about it. One other did show up for the last 10 minutes, but it was hardly worth my driving the 15 minutes into town to coach. Well, I don't think that I really have anything to spice it up today either, I am in Traverse City tonight for work, so have been out of touch all day. I did go and buy a bottle of wine to sit in the room with while I wait for my new sales rep to get out of his existing job (he doesn't start working for us until the 27th) and pick up his wife so that I may take them to dinner. I did call the Queen and tell her that Suzie was calling her out, but she is at swimming with the princesses and then off to brownies, I told her that I would catch up with her later on the boards. I have to tell you that all of this Wal Mart talk is actually driving me nuts, I get so mad when the Queen shops there. Just to give you all a little history of what I do, I work for a state retail association that will lobby for small business in our state legislature, we also provide services to medium to small businesses buy grouping them together to get better pricing. Wal Mart is putting Mom and Pop stores out of business, retail actually employees over 50% of all jobs in the nation, and when a company like Wal Mart comes in and will loose money just to put a small company out of business, I don't think it is fair. The Queen still shops there, but I on the other hand will not support them, I will now step off my pedestal and apologize if I have offended anyone, but I love unique small retail stores and they are becoming extinct.

Again sorry for the rant.

Wow , did a grouchy bomb fall from the sky ? I am feeling the same way . All I wanted to do was sleep , I even made the girls take a long nap with me . I think I should head to the DR's tomorrow , I have had aweful pains in my chest and sonetimes down my arm nera my elbow . , I am still trying to chalk it up to a pulled muscle probally somewhere in my back . Has anyone here ever pulled a muscle , if so how long should or deos it last , it is making me feel horrible . I dispise going to the DR's , I feel there is never a definite answer to anything .

Hey Tom , I'm with you , I never shop there . DH on the other hand does go there for medicines and such ,since they are cheaper at times . I am much more of a shopper that really does enjoy unique items , boutique items and my house is also furnished with many things you will not find anywhere . I just have to save more for them . Now that drives my DH nuts ! I too hope I don't offend anyone but I have just never been interested in going there,

CG , I'm sorry I don't have any info on Pleasure Island. Are you planning on going there 1 night ? We thought about it and we may go on Thursday night, but our schedule is so jammed packed already. My DH Mom keeps talking about taking the girls for a day but I feel they would have much more to do at the hotel and not a rented house . Don't get me wrong it is nice of her but I asked her if she wanted to watch them if she could do it at ALK but she is trying to ignore me on that matter .ALK like WL offers so many things for the kids to do like Storytelling , cookie decorating and such I'm sure many may know since alot of you have staying there . My MIL ois renting a house down there near us , she lives in Port Charlotte and is coming up for 2 or 3 days .

Well off to make dinner , big night, chicken nuggets and fries . DH is the gourmet cook in our house and I am so not . Yesterday it was Spharros Pizza and the day before McDonalds .

I love Occoquan, the little town near us. It's a quaint little boutique type town that has my favorite jeweler there. LOVE QUINN'S JEWELERY! They are the absolute best and always give you Godiva chocolates with your purchases! I would much prefer to shop small stores but sometimes they really don't have what you need or your wallet doesn't have what YOU need! Our area is too much of a big retail store area. New stores popping up all the time. Kind of makes you sick, but unless you want to travel an hour, you don't really have a choice......wish I lived where you guys do, Tom. I love the small town feel of places but I do like the big town conveniences, too!

Wings were excellent, as usual. Friends were a blast. Had a great time, but need to watch some tv and go to bed.....I can NOT have another night like last night.

Good to see everyone here. If not, well, there'd better be a darn good excuse! Julie, you are excused....

Tom, no, you did not just post that. Let me look again....yes, you did! Oh, I hate you! (*said with a smile on my face!) I will be singing that in my head all night! At least this time I knew when to stop!

Julie - yes, Tori had her party but I had to grocery shop and didn't get back in time to see it! I'm really bummed because her Valentine's box is missing and I'm not sure if her friends got her cards....I was told things were so rushed because today is bible class and music day. They just kind of tacked on the party because of no school Monday. They can't do it Friday because Dr. Al, the Kiddie pal (dentist) is coming.....

Wings were great - I think I ate 25 wings! OMG! Don't think I'll eat the rest of the week. I did turn down the turtle cheesecake (yeah for me!!) that my friend Heather and Ed decided to share.

Nap was good, but caught up on all my computer (this is my last checkup), all my tv shows (Jerome Bettis was really cute on Regis and Kelly!), printed Ed's boarding pass, got my glass of water and I'm off to bed!

Night all!

PhillyJen, you asked about Chard. What I can tell you (and I'm no expert, I got it from a wine maker) is that the Chard that comes from the Russian River Valley has a tropical/melon flavor. It comes from the soil and the climate in this area. The Russian River runs thru my town (I posted pictures at flood stage in January) and empties into the ocean about a hour from here. Evidently, the rolling hills and sandy loam, along with the coastal fog that rolls in and out, which we call our air conditioner in the summer, make for a great white grape growing climate. Closer to the ocean (more fog) is Korbel, which makes for great bubbly. The fog has a lot to do with it, along with the rolling hills. By the way, Clos Du Bois Winery is in my town....they make some great red and white wines. Inland and farther from the river are where the reds are grown. At least that is what I seem to observe, and as I said I'm no expert.

AWESOME countdown - thank you!

I have to tell you all that in high school, remember during this story that I went to a girls boarding school, we called the middle weeks of February the *****y season. We had tunnels that ran from building to building on campus so there was no need to go outside and get fresh air or sunshine. We also, as all girls, would place our palms on the push areas of the doors and this transfers hormones to each other, making that special time of the month for women also start coinciding with each other. So get the mental image here - all girls, all *****y, all having a visit from Aunt Flo - yeah, times were good. :scared:

I have so much to respond to this morning and you all didn't put up that much here, but it was chocked full of info. Sorry I was absent, my husband was making some snide comments about me being on the computer the night he was home, and I decided to take the hint. We watched Lost together, which, Yes, was AWESOME.

ohsodisney, you first, because I woke up at like 3 am andhad a ton to say to you - no idea why, but it all just was in my head at that time - you're (or maybe I am) lucky I didn't get right on here at that minute. Be careful about judiging distances for travel using mapquest or other mapping stuff - To get from Gettysburg to DC takes a hell of a lot longer than 60 minutes. You haven't said exactly where your husband will be located but if it's in the district just be careful about judging travel time by miles. I don't know why this woke me up, but it did and I was suddenly worried for you. :confused3

As for Pleasure Island, it's not for our April trip that I am asking about it - it's for next week. I go down to Orlando for four days on business travel and am flying in on Friday night. I will be going Friday night to Pleasure Island and then Saturday to Epcot prior to some early evening meetings. I got a two day ticket so if on Sunday I had some time I could go check out Expedition Everest at AK too. I am more than a little excited about this. :cool1:

SUZIE - YOU ROCK!!! That is exactly the site! Thank you! But gotta say - 25 wings!!!!! Holy cow, girl!!!!! That is a LOT OF wings!!!!! I peeter out around 10 and that was in the good ol days of college - now it's more like 8. But, I should not throw stones as I was so bad at that barbeque place - they have these cheesy garlic potatoes that aren't mashed, just left in chunks that I had about three servings of. They also had boneless ribs on the buffet line that I helped myself to three servings of too.

PAT - That was a great lesson and I love those flavors so I will be off to find some wine now.

TT - (this really is just for Tom, so anyone can read it, but you may get bored so feel free to skim and skip if you want) We will have lots to talk about at Grills. Paul and I met when were both Chief of Staffs for committees in our state legislature, the General Court, and I was a *** to the Commerce and Labor Committee. I specialize in commerce policy and wrote the brownfields legislation for the state to help small businesses. I now use some of that to coordinate our lobbyists for my company, but most of it is now long fallow in my repertoir of skills. My husband on the other hand came out of the legislature to become a Vice President for our city's chamber of commerce working on government affairs. He now is the CEO for a non-profit economic development advocacy organization for a region of the state that sorrounds Boston - he works with businesses to help promote transportation, housing, water resource, and other business needs to the Federal and state government. They have a great staff and work closely with the Massachusetts Retailers Association, but they are mainly focused on non-retail issues for the huge companies that line that area with their headquarters or major campuses.

I on the other hand now work for the evil big box retailer - but I spoke up and advocated strongly against a policy we were implementing of squeezing out the small grocer. We still seem to be doing that in some aspects but I think it's less about our inlfuence and more about an unwillingness on the grocers part to change their business model. The most successful grocers in our area and the ones who are expanding astronomically are the specialized grocers - Whole Foods, Hanafords, etc. But, if it helps at all, we are cognizent of the impact we have and we try not to squeeze out businesses - our business model is not based on that but on being the best we can be for the small residential user (Costco focuses on business users, Sam's focuses on well, just being Wal-Mart of the warehouse clubs and it shows or just trying to one up Costco rather than defining themselves in a different model).

I do shop Wal-Mart, but I really feel icky when I do and it's only for small items like Airborn or halloween candy. I mean how low can you go for prices? Who is making this stuff? Where is it coming from? Well, we all know the answers and it's soooo not good for America.

______

OK - that'e enough of that riff.

Anyway I guess you have rookie duty with the new sales rep. As I do with all new subordinates, I instruct them "light on the wax and please pay attention to the rims...."

Julie posted a link to the thread she started on this a few pages back. To some extent I think you will find most of us will be doing something - me, I think it will be just a big blouse tied off with a red scarf and eye patch. I don't know how much my kids will dress up for it - my son is scared of pirates a little.

Check it out!

Oh, I am excited! They did this for two pubs in Boston and it's soo cool! They brought the whole thing over from Ireland in crates - we all joke, half joke that is, that those crates may have been bound for Boston with a wee bit more in them than just bar ware as the IRA has their USA headquarters here too.

Forgot to answer you all about my son, he is sick, sick, sick - it's the rotovirus. I actually got super mad at one of his teachers this morning and let her know it because she has a daughter in the infant room with my daughter and her daughter got this, but prior to knowing she had it, she brought her down into the pre-school room to visit ALOT - well, now my son will be out of school for at least 6 days with it, God forbid if Catrina gets it. My MIL is home with him today for the full day as I have to get some stuff done here at work.

Back on my riff for a minute, and this is for Jen: for all the grief I jokingly gave you, we actually all really respect Costco around here - we're super competitors, but it's a very healthy competition and deep respect for how well they do this business. It's like an athlete looking up to a mentor - we would like to beat that mentor, but we truly respect their skills. Sam's is a completely different matter alltogether. We loathe them and we acutally beat them wherever we go in head to head with them. We clean their clocks. Theirs is a hollow business model - no soul.

ohsodisney - (don't take any of this the wrong way, please!!!)(sounds bad to start out that way, doesn't it?!)Gaithersburg is in Montgomery county, just the other side of VA. Gettysburg, PA is a bit toooooooo far in my opinion.....I would consider moving in much closer.....

We live in Woodbridge (15 miles south of DC) and it's one of the places people will look at last for housing because of the commute to DC - all the way up 95 is no fun!!! (Ed leaves at 5:10 in the am to be at work by 6:30.....if he left later, he would have to HOV-3 it/pick up slugs, go back roads - 1 to 1/2 hours commute on a lucky day- or go up 95 - count on 2-3 hours travel time) Especially with the construction at the Mixing Bowl! Check out any of the "95 construction" posts on any Disney wesbite....on the weekends with construction it can back up 10-15 miles! That's just 95 and the poor slobs that didn't know about the construction....all other roads (Rt 1, 123, etc) all back up from the locals and ones in the know....

What I'm trying to say is that the map may look good but you really need to know the traffic pattern for where you live and where you work and all that it takes to get from one to another. IMHO your best bet is to come to the area and check it out. Talk to realtors. I'm not fond of MD to live in (and have lived there!!) and I don't think the school systems are that great. Crime is a bit out of hand, too...but that's mostly Prince Georges county....there are some pretty places in MD (my aunt lives in Columbia) but it's really all in what you want, what you can afford, and what is the maximum commute you want....I don't mean to scare you guys off, but it is a huge shock to people when they move to the area. You do end up getting used to it but such a pain!

That said, good luck on what you find! Would love to have you guys around!!!

CG - yeah the wings killed me this morning. Bad heartburn!!!! They were very good though but even amazed myself eating all those!!! WHAT A PIG!!! But the craving is gone for a while and with no wing night next week (friends gone on travel, etc.) hopefully I get over the crazy craving....

Partypat - I miss you, sweetie! Where are you??????
SteveMed -
Inthemood, The Roses, .....BLBCB.....and the list goes on and on and on
Geez, everyone! Where are you?? Tom, you're excused because of your travels but I guess everyone else is too busy or cranky.....did my computer send the cranky virus to everyone?!?! So sorry if it did!

Okay, I'll give you guys time to wake up and smell the coffee :coffee: . Tori has a playdate at Uncle Donalds (McD's) with some friends from school. Chat later!!

Hello All,

I'm just checking in quickly, it's a crazy day again. We leave this afternoon for the city, about a 4 hour drive. When we lived up north, it used to be 10 - 12 hour drive. Don't miss that! We will be staying with my sister-in-law. Her sons used to have pet rats & the cage was in the living room. While we were sleeping on the pull-out couch, the rats would be active and making all kinds of creepy noises. You can't complain when someone is letting you stay at their house, but I must say that I'm glad they are gone.

Costumes - We would love to dress up, but I'm just not sure it's worth hauling everything down there. It would be just my luck that my suitcase would be picked for customs check leaving Canada! What about costumes for 80's night? Isn't that something that people dress up for too? Or the 70's thing? We would need a whole seperate suitcase just for costumes. My husband is really a great sport when it comes to dressing up. Even back in high school when you would think he would be too cool, he would let me dress him up for compititions at school. When I was pregnant with our first, we went as a harem dancer & the sheik. With my HUGE belly, I was the short fat sheik, and he was the dancer! :rotfl2: He even put a large jewel in his belly button. You could see his beard through his veil and it was great. That's a picture I should find for you all. Of course, I'd probably be going on the cruise by myself after that. :)

I made the mistake of laughing at the weather up north where I used to live. Now we have -37 C today with the windchill. Tomorrow our high is suppose to be -46 C with the windchill. That's like -53 F. :scared: What's up with that?!

BLBCB - Thanks, you just made me feel so much better about our weather!

OHSO - there will be people in costumes on the ship. I just swore that after our last trip I would bring less stuff. We didn't use half of the clothes that we brought. On the return trip one of our suitcases were over the weight limit so we had to stand there in the middle of the terminal and move stuff around. The only one that uses all of her clother is our daughter - she goes through two or three outfits a day - luckily her clothes don't take up a lot of space. Of course, our DS (13) would wear the same clothes all week if we didn't make him change. GROSS! :crazy2:

OhJulie , I really wasn't going to pack a formal dress or was I planning on packing costumes , what the heck , I am going to pack a large canvas tote in our suitcase so if we are overweight going home we can just chuck everything in that . Come on come on dress up !!!!
We never wear everything we pack , in fact I decided to do a load of laundry at AKL Friday so we rewear some of the outfits . Disney makes it so easy to , you really don't have to haul your luggage around to much , they do it for you .

Castlegazer,

I know the American Sesame Street is different than the Canadian one, but I was really wondering what episode would have them talking about fornicating snowflakes! :lmao: As for how we do it, we don't know any better! By the time July comes and we hit the +30s, winter is forgotten. I just wish summer was as long as winter. Makes you appreciate the summer that's for sure. Having nice weather all the time must get boring.

Ohsodisney,

I'll see what my husband thinks of the idea. A lot will depend on space in the suitcase. Wish I would have been thinking about it when all the Halloween stuff was out. Are there any more who will be dressing up? What about for the 80's & 70's nights at the bar? Do people dress up for them too?

Here I thought my comment about listening to the rats all night at the end of my bed would be what people would pick up on, and nobody did. You never know what catches people's eyes.

We are dressing up for pirate night. My husband's costume just came today- I love Ebay. Sydney can't decide if she wants to be a pirate like her brother (in a little more feminine costume) or tinkerbell. I am still working on my own. Here is my handsome Jack Sparrow and his mates:
http://img5.ranchoweb.com/images/momtocoby/hubbysparrow.jpg http://img5.ranchoweb.com/images/momtocoby/allpirates.jpg

I think my bracelet order is wrong- should be 2 Lg; 1 Med; 2 Small (we only have 5 people in our group) Thanks! :thumbsup2

The weather has been decent for Ohio the last couple days but the word is it will go down to 10 degrees this Saturday :( Spring can come early for me!

Hello, all--

We're getting some nasty cold arctic wind today here in NW Washington. Very sunny but very cold. I'm with you all on the cold--looking fwd to Caribbean temps!

Mom2--your crew looks great!

Ohso--I definitely want to dress up, but I may be the only one as my DS & his buddy may be 'too cool' and my DD can be shy at times. Ebay is a great idea...I've been wondering where to get a good costume without paying a hook and a pegleg...aarrrrrrgh! :rotfl2: (i crack myself up!)

That video from Timon was really cool! My kids & I watched it--I only wish there were more people in it, showing the atmosphere more. Soon enough, soon enough, I know!

CG, thanks for doing all that with the bracelets and handling all of our changes!

Hi Momtocobysyd , I love it , the costumes are great , my DH is Jack Sparrow too , there will be lots of HOT Jacks walking around LOL:rotfl2: . I am an Ebay addict , buying and seling . I am on sort of a lul right now since I have sold most of the girls Spring clothes from last year .

Yeah Ruby , I'm so happy you are dressing up too . How old is your DD ? One of mine is going trhough a shy stage too but she does warm up after she mets people a few times . I'm sure they are going to love the Oceaneers Club .

Survivor is on gotta run.

I have decided that one of the best ways for all of us to lose weight and become the Biggest Loser is to sign up for Survivor . The girls look like they already drop 10 pounds each . Thats it , from now till the cruise it is sea water and little Nemo's for me, maybe a bug or 2 for dessert . :teeth:

Ohso--My DD is 8, so she will be in the Lab, not the club :( But she is a young 8 in my opinion and has good friends who are 4-7 yos. Whenever we all meet up on the ship, I'm hoping she won't be shy!

I'm SO excited--I just ordered Pirate costumes for myself and my DD! :cool1:  Not sure how to post the picture--sorry, I know it's been explained, but no time to try it out now! But both are really cute and simple--nothing 'hoeish' :crazy2:

As expected, my I showed some ideas to my son and he said they were "totally lame", lol. I know he'll be disappointed if a bunch of the other 'tweens are dressed up and he & Isaac aren't. I think I'll bring them along at least a pirate shirt and sash and they can take it or leave it.

Speaking of Biggest Loser, I 'weigh in' tomorrow morning and have been good this week and doing serious treadmilling, so I hope to have good news to report in the am!

I would totally win Survivor on the first day, once they saw me dressed in skimpy island-wear, they would all swim away! :rotfl: (Okay, a bit excessive--and I promise not to dress in skimpy island-wear on the cruise ok? Unless I've reached 'goal' by that time...then perhaps...) :scratchin

If you just copy the costume from the site and then paste it here that works too . Good for you for working so hard at the losing weight . I have to wait till 4 weeks before we go or I will completley blow it . I always gain about 7 pounds by the end of the trip .

My girls are so excited to met all the kids from this group , we talk about it alot and how they will have so many new friends to play with . Holly is especailly outgoing I hope your little one doesn't get scared when she comes up to her right away and hives her a big hug . , that is how Holly is .

Good nite all , hope everyone had a wonderful day .

Mketting , hope today was better for you !

Alright you guys, this is driving me crazy  I have been so busy at work, yup, real estate in the Wine Country is on the move again. During December and January it was so slow that I was able to get in the mix with you'all and have some fun during the day. Sad to say, I don't have that leasure time at work lately. They want me to earn my keep and I need to make the big bucks so I have hang with you guys in the Carribean :grouphug: . My favorite saying is "The more your work, the more you make, the better vacations you take" :boat: :sail: :dancer: :drinking: , but back to my rant...by the time I get home and am able to partake, all of you are off to bed :cloud9: or watching Lost or Survivor or some such thing. So, I tend to miss out on the banner :coffee: of posting back and forth. But, I have to say, you'all are very entertaining. And don't get me wrong, by the time I'm watching Lost, Survivor or my other favorite programs, you'll are having sweet dreams.

I hear ya, PartyPat--the action is usually over by the time I get on here to check it out. I did get in on Napoleon, though...sad, I know--

But this cruise is right around the corner! Gotta work on a door sign next...
Bought some new luggage from Disney outlet yesterday--great deal on that stuff. As soon as it arrives, it will be my packing headquarters. WOO HOO :woohoo:

Tom maybe I missed it, but I don't recall seeing any comments on your great pic of a banana hammock! Not to start that up again :rotfl2: but I totally lost it when I saw that post. I only wonder what terrors you had to search thru online to find it??

I have been hard at work on it all night and now I must go off to bed. It will be a multi day project - but I will let you all know when it's done.

By the way, is that all for changes - I thought there were more............ Ok - waiting till you all get back to me to order.

I guess a have the board to myself :confused3 , so here I go..........

Julie, I love your countdown....keep them coming!

Rubysmon and The Roses, what's up with this....you send your cold weather down my way. The :sunny: is still here, but dipped into the 20's last night and never got over 55 today. They say it might snow in the foothills this weekend, if it rains. So much for the trees budding and the daffadolis popping all over the countryside. Hope the frost doesn't damage the grape crop since the vines started to bud in the hot weather, but not likely as the winemakers have the means to ward it off, namely fans. It gets quite noisy in the vineyards at night during this time of the year.

Suzie, 25 wings....that must be SOME bar-b-que you guys have back there. I may need to make a visit just to sample what you'all are talking about.

CG, so sorry about Quinn....theres nothing worse than a child that is sick. Nothing you can do when they can't tell you how awful they feel. When they show the signs of REALLY being sick it freaks you out. Especially a high fever and everything that goes with it. On to better thoughts, thanks for the link to Timons video, I watched a smidgen today and plan to watch it all after I finish posting. As to the Irish Pub at Pleasure Island, I can't wait. I went to Ireland 2 years ago with my sister, son and daughter. We rented a house in the West of Ireland and had a great time. The best was at 5:00 when we would look at each other and say, "Its Guinness Time" and head for a Pub. Great Memories and lots of singing. Memories that will never die. Of course the driving was a challenge. I only hit 3 curbs the first day. KEEP TO THE LEFT....KEEP TO THE LEFT....not to mention you were sitting on the right and it was a stick shift. Using your left hand to shift was a challenge in itself not to mention the round abouts and all the sheep in the road. And by the way thanks for taking time in YOUR busy schedule to take time out for us to order the braclets. You go girl :thumbsup2

As to all of your Pirates and Wenches.......just know that all those that dress up on Pirate Night ROCK in my world. I have been after my family to get it together and they just look at me and roll their eyes :rolleyes1 I'm sure their saying, PartyPat's at it again (that really is my nickname....my 40 year old nephew gave it to me when he was a teenager years ago). but rest assured....the women folk in my family will all be hanging with the Jack Sparrows on Pirate Night and telling their better half that they should have got with the program.

I have a pirate box started to throw out at the wantabees on pirate night. It'll be interesting to see what they pick out of the goodie box.

I got an email from my son, Justin, and he's in Amsterdam. He said he was hanging out in the "Hippie Lounge" at the hostel. I asked him if he was reliving my life, as I grew up during the 60's in SF :hippie: Thankfully, I grew up, not like some in the really northern area of California.

Well, here's to all of your sleepy heads :drinking1 I'm off to watch survivor.

partypat - good to see you on the boards. Normally I am here late but today has just been too much....even though it's after 11 here. Was gonna watch Bones and Lost tonight but it will have to wait...too tired!

Make mine a VIRGIN....and let me know if you were able to get the one I emailed you about. I would need to pay you and send you the money!

Tori will be Tinkerbell on the cruise but she also has the cutest Pirate Mickey ears so not sure....whatever DH says.... he's gonna be the one hauling the luggage!! Good thing is that I only have so many pg clothes that it won't even take a full suitcase! Note to men: easier packing if your wife is pregnant!! :lmao: :lmao:

Weather was gorgeous here today! 65 when we went out to lunch! Just wish the ground wasn't so muddy or we would have gone to the park. Bummer...

Ed's gonna try to get an earlier flight out tomorrow. Looks like the furniture will be delivered to the house earlier than planned which puts him ahead of the game tomorrow. The earlier flight out that SW has is at 2:50 pm! That sure beats 8:25 pm!!

Found out tonight that a friend of ours is being deployed to Iraq for a year. Not uncommon in this area with all the military but still always a shock. Proud of him for serving but sad that he has to be gone for a year.

Good night all!

Trish,

All that work on the Banana Hammock and you would think that at least Steve would have checked in and given me some props, I thank you for the acknowledgement it does mean a lot.

Pat,

Sorry for the Badgers, but am I the only one that just digs that song? As for my favorite flavor, Pat there isn't anything that you can bring that I won't like, I grew up out in the boonies, I have drank grain alcohol, did not enjoy it, but I drank it. I recently found Healdsburg Cab that I really enjoy, a 2002 that isn't overpriced, but like I said the boys growing up would have drank anti freeze if we wouldn't have had anything else.

Suzie,

I hope Ed makes it home for you earlier than later, I travel way to much and trust me we would much rather be at home.

And Tom, as I posted in an earlier post, I was the Maid of Honor (ha) at my girlfirends wedding in Severivell, Ky (she rides the ostrich in the show "Dixie Stampede" at Dollywood). At her wedding, the moonshine showed up. Everyone from the backwoods deposited a mason jar of moonshine at the bride and grooms table. What at taste treat that was. Everyone that went up to the table to congratulate them had to take a swig out of one of the mason jars. The dancin' got quite lively toward the end of the night.

I just moved out of my old bedroom into a new room in the house and she hasn't wanted to change rooms. I think she's rethinking her decision. I think the new one is alot warmer considering it has heat. I shut off the vents in the old room. I guess now she will let me move her bed. She wouldn't sleep in it last weekend. Good Morning

I woke up this morning to Holly telling me she was scared . I don't blame her , the winds here are near 60 miles per hour , they just said 75 here where we live . Everything is blowing around , the pool cover is ripped off and all the bags are now in the pool , my swing is ready to blow away, there is debri everywhere, and it sounds like something came off the house. I think we will lose power to so I cranked the heat up to 75 just in case , this way we will have heat from a little while today . I did run out to get yesterdays mail and it was scary just to be out there , mind you we are very country so lots of power lines and trees .

Roses , I lost my Simmi this past fall , she was a samyoyed and severe hip displacia . I know how it is when little things she use to do I yelled at her for but last year I actually loved having her do them , I just knew she was going to be leaving us soon . . Now it on to my girls yelling at them for things they shouldn't do , so she did get well trained replacements .

Talk to you all later , enjoy your day !

Let's start another question list as I learned a lot about people from the last one:

1. What is your favorite Disney Park?

2. What is your favorite Disney Ride?

3. What is your favoirite Disney Resort to stay at and why?

4. Describe a great Disney Experience that you had (ex: Suzie meeting Kelly Rippa would be awesome!)

Here are my answers to start it rolling:

1. What is your favorite Disney Park?
When I was younger it was MGM but now it is the Magic Kingdom because of my kids
2. What is your favorite Disney Ride?
Adult Ride- Rockin Rollercoaster Kid Ride- Splash Mountain
3. What is your favoirite Disney Resort to stay at and why?
Polynesian- for the atmosphere and monorail access to the MK
4. Describe a great Disney Experience that you had (ex: Suzie meeting Kelly Rippa would be awesome!)

I went on a business trip and the host of the conference paid to shut down Tomorrow Land at the MK and we had it all to ourselves- we got bussed to a special backdoor entrance- it was pretty cool.

Ho Mom2cobysyd

1) Disney Magic Kingdom because I love more then anything now, watching my girls , I'm living vicariously thru them now . I use to also love MGM .

2) Tower of Terror , kids ride , still loving the Pirates of the Caribbean , which is getting an overhaul , something with Jack Sparrow , if thats the case I'll never get off . Can you tell I have the hots for him ?

3) I have been to Disney probally 10 times and have yet to stay on property , so I'm sure the AKL will be my favorate since it is the first time we are staying on-site .

40 , Funny Disney experience . I was alone at the parks because DH was in conference , I had to ride with some guy can't remember the ride but it was slow , but afterwards he asked if I would like to pal with him for the day . YIKES , I was 4 months pregnant too .

Good morning everyone!

Here are my answers to the Disney questions:

1. Favorite Disney Park
Epcot - I love the entertainment here and there are always some surprises. The food is great also.

2. Favorite Disney Ride
Mission Space. We rode it three times in a row last visit.

3. Favorite Resort
Wilderness Lodge - we love the atmosphere here!

4. Great Disney Experience
We were picked to be the Grand Marshalls of the parade at MGM. It was so exciting for the kids to ride on the convertible and hear our names announced all along the parade route. When we were getting ready for the parade all of the Disney Characters came over and made a big deal over the kids and they took a picture of us with them in the car. At the end of the parade they had a special viewing area reserved for us.

Of course, it was at the end of a long day and Jessica was only 3. She had a hard time waving and smiling for the whole route. She was asleep before the parade was over. Kyle was 7 and he thought it was the coolest thing ever! :Pinkbounc

1. What is your favorite Disney Park?
I am long time WDW traveler (since park opening in 1971) - so to me WDW means MK. My second favorite is Epcot. But I have only been to MGM once (completely prefer Universal), and AK is so so.

2. What is your favorite Disney Ride?
I think I will get back to you on this after next weekend - I have a feeling that EE or Soaring may take top billing then. For now my favorite ride is The train in MK - weird, hunh? Haunted Mansion is my favorite true ride.

3. What is your favorite Disney Resort to stay at and why?
Fort Wilderness Cabins. I love the cabins so much - they fit my travel profile perfectly. I am budget minded, I like to cook and this also saves money, you have a deck to sit on and drink while the kids are asleep or a living room, it is extremely peaceful, you are a hop skip and a jump away from Hoop Dee Doo Review - waaahoooo!!!!, and you get to take a boat to the MK. Our friends hated it - they hated the buses, but for me, that was one small drawback to an overall great time in the cabins.

4. Describe a great Disney Experience that you had:
Taking my son for the first time when he was one and just watching him run through the rose garden with the castle in the background - it was shere bliss for me.

Mom - do you have short or long hair now?

Goodmorning everyone. Pat, I am a pinot gris or pinot noir fan.

OHJulie, I haven't said anything to you in a while and that is a travesty. How are the IM'ing kids getting along?

OH, and all you people who sent this weather - this is for you :duck:

OHJulie
02-17-2006, 08:42 AM
Hi CG - Yeh, my feelings were getting hurt over here!

I think the IM-ers are still in contact. Kyle has been talking with BLBCB's kids. If anyone else has older kids who want to get in the loop, let me know and I can send you Kyle's e-mail - he's a very social kid and loves to chat on line!

Have another disney experience that I need to share. On our first trip to WDW, my DH's mother had just passed away a month earlier. My DD was only three, but she was very close to her Grandma. During the fireworks Jessica started waving at the sky and saying "Hi Grandma - I Love You!" For some reason she saw Grandma in those fireworks. I think I cried all night!

Sorry for the sap - back to our regularly scheduled program.

Pat - I love most wines. Just nothing too sweet. I tend to go with Cab in the winter and Chardonney during the summer. Is that weird? Clos Du Bois Chard is one of my favorites.

On the note of Quinn, he seems to be better - I got all worked up for nothing. He never had anymore bathroom issues, is fine now with that, and hasn't had a fever since Wednesday night. He even got to ride his bike around the cul-de-sac three times yesterday. CG- I would say it is closer to long (like the first picture in the album on the other site). You know men- they like long hair. I had it shorter when the kids were babies as it was always in the way.

I always wondered what the cabins would be like.

OHSoDisney- Yikes, I would be a little shocked too if a stranger asked me to be his ride partner for the day, especially if I were pregnant. What did you say???

I want to play too!!!

1. What is your favorite Disney Park?

MK. I'm just a kid at heart.

2. What is your favorite Disney Ride?

The first boat ride of a trip from Wilderness Lodge to MK. Rounding the corner and seeing the castle!

3. What is your favoirite Disney Resort to stay at and why?

Well, I guess you can figure this one out! WILDERNESS LODGE!!!

4. Describe a great Disney Experience that you had (ex: Suzie meeting Kelly Rippa would be awesome!)

We were chosen to be the FLAG FAmily
at the Wilderness Lodge (Iknow, I know we love WL) It is the absolute most incredible view of the WDW area! You can see everything up there. The best part was watching my kids raising the flags and then saying the pledge of allegiance at age 4 and 5. So cool!!
It was the morning of hurrcaine Jeanne and it was so windy they didn't want to let my daughter up there, but all was good. Our vacation was suppose to end that day too, but thanks to Jeanne it was extended 3 days and we went into lock down! Something we will never experience again I'm sure!!!

Mom2 - O.K., now I'm not going to get any work done today. I just keep thinking about all of the great Disney memories. We got picked to be the Grand Marshalls by sheer luck. We were actually getting ready to leave MGM and when we got close to the gates a lady came up and asked if we would like to be the GM's. HMMM, after much deliberation, we agreed. It was about an hour before the parade - she asked us to come back in about 45 minutes and go to a gate where the parade was forming.

CG - Yep, Jessica used to tell me that Grandma sat next to her on the bus to school. Those kids sense things we can't.

I'm glad Quinn is feeling better - and that you've made peace at the school!

It's funny, we really don't like this teacher - but I am not normally open about it - I leave that to my husband who has to negotiate with her due to his board role. I am wicked embarrassed. I just came back to say to you OHJulie, that I am sooooo sick of reading about Westgate Village every day. I keep up on the competition and because of the issues with Costco here it pops up on my tickler every day. It is Westgate that you and Tom were tlking about, right? 1. What is your favorite Disney Park?

Magic Kingdom of course - where eveyr little girl's dreams come true!!

2. What is your favorite Disney Ride?

It's a Small World - it's the one ride I remember the most from our first truip in 1972 - we just moved back to the States and it was our first family vacation

3. What is your favoirite Disney Resort to stay at and why?

Gosh, that is hard....WL, AKL, Yacht Club are my Top 3, loved PORi, and do really like Pop Century....GF was okay but like WL better! So, I really don't have a favorite but if I had to pick which one I would try to book first, I would have to say WL because of location and DH loves it there!

4. Describe a great Disney Experience that you had (ex: Suzie meeting Kelly Rippa would be awesome!)

Yeah, Kelly Ripa was pretty cool but my greatest experience was at EPCOT. In Oct 2003, Dad had just had his leg amputated 5 months before and was able to go to Disney with us. In EPCOT we were at the American Pavilion and Dad bought popcorn. Tori loves popcorn. Next thing I looked over and saw them sharing it. Had to get my camera out for this memory. Still makes me tear up.

 Good morning...or good afternoon, everyone--I'm just back from my weigh in and I'm down 2.4 :cool1: :cool1: I know it doesnt seem like much but it really is! If I keep up this trend, I'll just about make goal by cruise time. and then I'll eat everything in site on the cruise...no, not really, but I plan to be okay with a max gain of 5 lbs on the cruise. I can get that back off in a month when I return, and I plan to enjoy myself, darn it!!!

Suzie, that pic is so precious! I can just see it blown up in black & white to about 8 x 10 on a 12x12 page. What a treasure, the way Tori's looking up at your dad like that and he's smiling down at her. I can't find a tears of joy smilie but that's what I would put here. CG, can you come thru for me?

1. What is your favorite Disney Park?

Disneyland...sorry east coasters, but I just know it so well, that when I walk thru the tunnels under the train tracks and catch my first glimps of Sleeping Beauty Castle (even tho it's smaller than Cinderella's!) I feel so at home. I know where everything is, how to get from anywhere to anywhere in the park. I love that feeling!! :goodvibes

2. What is your favorite Disney Ride?

Difficult, but have to say Tower of Terror (DL & WDW)--I LOVE the special effects. Rockin' Roller Coaster is also a top 5, but I haven't tried Mission: Space or (of course) Expedition Everest yet, so we'll see if that changes.

3. What is your favorite Disney Resort to stay at and why?

We are SOO cheap! In DL, I refuse to stay in a Disney owned property (there are only 3) because no matter what you do or what promos or codes you have available, it is approx $1000 more than staying 'off-site' and 'off-site' can be closer to walk.

At WDW, I've only stayed at the Disney Institute townhomes (gone) and All-Stars. Someday, though, I'll stay at AKL or Poly and they will be my favorites (I know this for sure!)

4. Describe a great Disney Experience that you had (ex: Suzie meeting Kelly Rippa would be awesome!)

I would have to say when Emma met Cinderella and brought along her Build-A-Bear horse with it's Cinderella outfit. Cindy spent extra time with her and her horse and taught her the *secret*;) princess handshake. princess:

Also, I made special autograph books one year, all black hardcover spiral bound w/all the character images I could find cut and pasted into the book with space to sign. We used fat markers that write on black paper and all the characters were so impressed! Esp Jessie at MGM, who slapped her knee and went around showing everyone.

I did always wonder what it was like for families who get chosen for parades--Very cool, OHJulie.

CG, I have a very happy, free-spirited mental picture of Quinn in the rose garden! that's what it's all about, watching the kids enjoy and experience Disney uncontaminated by the stresses of life. (except for when we grownups REALLY want to try a new ride and make them wait in line forever with us, lol!) Did you take a picture?

BTW, do we still abbrev it MGM now, or WDS? Weird. :scratchin

If anyone wants to do that autograph book idea, I still have the document files with all the character images. Just print on a color printer, reg size paper and cut out & paste. PM me if you want a copy. :)

Okay, done babbling

I missed about 40 pages of discussion because we're having router problems and can't always access the Internet - driving me and my family nuts! But I like the question game so I'll jump in:

Favorite Park:

This is really hard! Probably MGM because of Rock 'n Rollercoaster and TOT. It's sad but my boys are of the age where they've almost outgrown MK (except for Space & Splash Mountains of course).

Favorite Ride:

Rock 'n Rollercoaster - second favorite is Tower of Terror.

Favorite Resort:

BoardWalk Villas - I could almost spend a week there without going to the parks (I did say "almost")

Favorite Moment:

There are been sooooo many - one great one was when my older son was 2, he was meeting Goofy and when Goofy waved goodbye and walked away, my son began to cry, so Goofy came back and spent more time with him.

castlegazer

Trish, I did the same thing with a small 4x4" spiral bound scrapbook. I didn't put the pictures on first, though. I went back later (and later and later and later as I haven't finished it yet  ) and put in the pictures of the characters with my son. I had little items and stickers, though of the characters and their names on the pages and we got some great reactions too.

No picture - you know what, it's weird. I have some wonderfual, amazing pictures of many other great events, but whenever I describe this trip I always tell people about the rose garden and the gazebo down by the water there with the ducks - well, we took no pictures of this, it was just our little down time event, and wouldn't you know that would be what I really look back on and love. I have some pics of the roses looking up at the castle and of us playing between the collumns in the gazebo but no picture really captures the way I felt or how nice it was being alone in the sea of so many people everywhere else in the park and just having fun.

I can't wait to see Suzie pic tonight.

Oh, CG, I forgot you can't see the pics at work :( You will love it.

Disney sure does it right with all of those kind of places where you can be "away" from the hubbub and still be in a magical place. I'm grateful that park guests are on the go 90% of the time, or those places would be crowded too!

Well today has just been one of those that you want to go to bed and wake up the next day .
Dh came home today and when he opened the door he asked " How long has that dog been laying there "? . WHAT , I never even looked out the front door , till then and yes , there was a dog , she wasn't moving . It was our neighbors Boxer . DH ran next door and they came running over . She was their dog :sad1: . We all think that the 75 MPHW mucxt have scared her and she had a heartattack .
It is simply horrible here , my neighbor lost piece of her house . The roads are closed and schools are canceled or let out early . I am not going into work , thats 1 good thing . Two people were killed by fallen trees . I can't imagine ever being in a hurricane .
CG , it is always so nice to find a quiet spot admits the madness . I tend to soak in those moments too .
Well off to chat with Barry , Heck it's been a whole week :)

I am so sorry ohsodisney! That must have been truly awful. I am glad Barry made it home OK. When I was out for lunch I had a gazebo type thing fly at me. I was more than a little freaked out. It was like being in the wizard of oz.

But being in a hurricane is much, much worse. The paint on our condo walls looked like it had melted - MELTED DOWN. The wind and sand had made it look like this - it was the freakiest thing I have ever seen in my life - that and the fact that the entire front wall was missing and the mattresses were 6 stories down in the pool. My sister found her curtains 7 days later when they were walking to dinner at a restaurant that opened for the first time since the Hurricane in Cocoa Beach - the curtains were 6 blocks down the road.

This trip in April will be my first time back in the condo since the Hurricane. My BIL worked tirelessly to renovate it again - since he had just finished a huge remodel right before it got hit. :sad1:

Thanks CG. Hard to explain it all but I work with a lot of very difficult kids, some of the reasons they have been sent to the center where I work are 37 of them for fighting or otherr violent behavior, 8 for possesion of a weapon at school, 3 for attacking teachers, 6 for drugs and a dozen of so with a myriad of emotional disorders and yet our supervisor told us we are not to call security or the counseling office at all costs!!!! Just handle everything ourselves and don't escalate the students, just take them for a walk. She is insane!! We work this type of student and she wants to give us absolutely no support, it is very frustrating!!!

DH just paid off the Disney World trip portion of this crazy , expensive , we really cannot afford this vacation :faint: !

We got our computer back and it S***s , all the icon are nearly invisible , this screen is so darn small I have to squint , what the heck did they do ?????

Oh heres the kicker , when they put in the new hard drive they gave us back the old one so we can at least get our pictures off of it . well when he went there today to have them do it , they gave us the wrong harddive back and have no idea where ours is . I now have no pictures of my girls when they were babies -now . We did try and back them up but something went wrong because our computer has been so messed up almost since the day we got it . DH had this one custom built , never again !

O.k I should go to bed and end today , between this and the dog that was dead in our yard I think I need to start fresh .
What a day !

OK guys - I have been working tirelessly for the past two nights on a project I thought we all needed. I am super unhappy with how it came out as you really can't see the names very well, but I will try and get an e-mail of the file to everyone over the next few days. I will also try and re-work it now that I have everyone's pics in one place, to make it look better. For now, though, I found this super helpful to get to know everyone's DH's names and children's names. I have been reading trip reports where they say it becomes kinda helpful to know people's real names by the time you cruise. Not that we don't, but I just thought this would help.

I am very tired, so sorry for the babble. I will shut up now and just tell you that there is a new photo flolder over at Yahoo call All of Us.

It's very misleading since it is certainly not all of us - but it is all of us with pics up on the site. It leaves off a lot of you guys because you don't have pics I could steal.

It was helpful to me, so hopefully it will be helpful to you all - and like I said, I will try and send it off to you all once I get satisfied with it.

Hey CG! Great work on the pics!

1. What is your favorite Disney Park?
Disneyland. We're old folks, we like the original version. Haven't been to the FL one in at least 25 years.
2. What is your favorite Disney Ride?
Peter Pan. And Mr Toad's Wild Ride. We have to borrow children so I can go over and over again.
3. What is your favorite Disney Resort to stay at and why?
Grand Californian. You pull up and they greet you by name. Then they take you directly up to your room and give you a glass of wine while they check you in. Very nicely done.
4. Describe a great Disney Experience that you had.
DH's company is a Disney venture, so we were invited to the CM party. They closed the park and gave us the run of the place. All of the dancers that normally danced in the parade came dancing down Main Street in regular clothes dancing to the music as if they were in the parade. It's hard to explain, but it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Speaking of funny, we loved mketting's despair posters! They're hysterical. I might have to hang the calendar in my office!

I have a question for you frequent cruisers: How do you figure out how much to tip for room service? We usually tip 15-20% of the room service bill. But on the cruise, room service will be free. So how do you determine how much to tip? Or in the Pirate's words, How many pieces 'o gold do we fling at the lad?

Not that I know of but they do have stuff marked down during the cruise.

One thing I don't know if they still do but was really cute was gold by the inch. We got (Tori and I) matching Mickey/Minnie head ankle bracelets (I'll be wearing mine!!) very inexpensive! I think mine was like $19. You pick it all one night, get measured then they have it ready later that night or the next day.

Had a great time at Disney on Ice. Geez, I thought WDW souvenirs were expensive! OMGoodness! Of course, the girls all wanted everything! Not gonna happen!! I didn't take too many pics and not sure how good they are (starting to really hate my camera!!) so I won't bore you all with pics. :)

Test drove some cars today...the Honda Accord is looking mighty fine. My son emailed me and said I should get at Accura TL, all the way from Amsterdam. Oh my god, sticker shock! I think I'll leave that one on the lot for when he comes home.

What I have to tell you and you don't know is that the last cruise I took in Feb. 2005, we all became pirates. It started in Ybor City, Florida with looking for pirate gear to go the the Jimmy Buffett concert. Ybor City in itself is a great place to visit. Cuban this and Cuban that. The best was the food. My taste buds tingle at the thought of it. Well, I wore this T-shirt, along with a few accessories:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c295/pmlekus/SurendertheBooty.jpg

The whole cruise after the Jimmy Buffet concert was teaching others to say "ARRRGH" everytime we encounter anyone (in the evevator, at the pool, on the beach, etc). Needless to say, we had a few pirates by the end of the cruise.

I saw a pirate ship one day while in my stateroon alone. Wouldn't you know it, nobody believed me, but I took a picture and they still didn't believe it, so here it is....what do you think?

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c295/pmlekus/PirateShip.jpg

And so, I came home from that cruise saying "ARRRRGH", and now, here we go again. My friends think I've gone off my rocker talking about "The Others" and all the pirate: So, my BESTEST, BESTEST (Michele and David) got me this statue, as they thought I needed a "Main Man" in my NEW bedroom, since I didn't have a real one (I'm single). What were they thinking :ssst: Now I get to wake up every morning thinking "ARRRRGH!

Went to Disney on Ice yesterday. It was fun but it was over 2 hours long! Tori was not doing good the last 10 minutes, kept yelling at the skaters to "GO HOME!" We were ALL ready to go when it was over. Good to say we've seen in but probably won't do it again.

Invited our friend and her son over for lunch after church today. Her DH is in Japan - the infamous Wing guy that started us going to Glory Days. Anyway, the kids were playing with the Mr. Potato Head stuff we bought Tori at Disney. Ed started laughing and told me to get the camera....turned around and looked at the two of them...OMGoodness!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/suziemva/DSCN3208.jpg

Thought we'd head into Old Town Alexandria tomorrow for the President's Day parade but it might be too cold. We'll see. Ed has tomorrow off so not sure what we will do. Just want to spend some family time.

So, what are your plans???????

Maria, I loved the Jack Fix, I was going to rent the movie, but thought I might wait and hope they have it on the cruise.

Suzie, sounds like you have already had a full weekend. The kids look like they were having fun with Mr. Potato Head. That game brings back memories.

Yesterday I test drove cars. I need a new one and oh my....what a decision. Sticker Shock :crazy2:

My girlfriend came over today and taught me how to use my CD burner. So I have my hands full tonight burning all my picture files onto CD's. I also have a label maker for the CD's and thats a job in itself.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to just go and do it. Buy a new car that is. I'm leaning toward the Honda Accord, but want to drive a Passat and Camry before I make the final decision. Honda has 0% interest this weekend and thats a big motivation.

Hello all,

I've been away for four days, and hardly any posts. Everyone leave this weekend? Here I thought that I'd have to spend the next few hours trying to catch up what I had missed. Let's get this thing going again.

We are trying to decide if we can afford to add a couple of days onto our trip and do some WDW time. Regular priced airfare right now is around $750 per person. (We are a family of 5 remember) :crazy2: Add on the price of the cruise, convert that to Canadian dollars, and there isn't any money left for anything else.

Loved the scrapbook page on the other site. I've never done digital scrapbooking before. Is it a lot of work to exchange one picture for another once the page is made? I'm hoping to get my sister to take our picture tomorrow, so I can post a newer one than what's there. My kids have grown at least 12 inches since then. You guys would never be able to pick us out of a crowd if that was your reference! ;) I'll see what I can get done tomorrow about the picture. I know, you've heard that one before!

By the way, did the braclets get ordered? How long do they take to come? They would be great to add to the Easter gifts.

Talk to you all in the morning. Hopefully there will be more action then!

Barb

Hi Suzie , cute picture , gotta love kids . don't you sometimes miss the carefree days when we didn't care what other people thought and everything was so silly ?

Pat , I had a camry , LOVED IT ! I had it for 6 years , ran and looked like brand new still when I got into an accident pulling into a McDonalds . I didn't think they would have to total it but they did and I cried , that was the best car ever . i now drive a Impala LX , and I have to say at least in my neck of the woods the heated seats are a God send and I will now never ever buy a car without them , I do LOVE this one almost as much .

DH leaves again tomorrow . His B'day os Tuesday so we are going to have a B'day dinner when he comes home on Saturday . I once again have no exciting plans. I have been trying really hard not to buy as much as I use to since I could honestly call myself a shopping addict , so we avoid the malls lately .I may take the girls to the libray or the zoo this week if it warms up a bit .

Good night eveyone .

Good morning everyone!

Barb - Hope you can manage to add a couple of days at Disney. I am so jealous of everyone who is going before the cruise. There is just no way that we can do it, because we would have to take the kid out longer. And I am sure we are going to get grief from the schools for this week.

Pat - Good luck with the car shopping. We own a Honda Odyssey and a Toyota Tundra and my company car is a VW Passat. I like the Passat (especially because it is free), but it just does not seem to have the extra touches that a Honda has. And of course the Toyota will probably run for ever. The Passat does not seem to have anywhere to put STUFF, very little storage inside the car. Also, the trunk is VERY hard to open. Check it out - it doesn't seem like a big deal, but after awhile it get's real annoying. I do like the handling of the Passat - very easy to get in and out of parking spots.

We Love, Love, Love the Honda. They seem to design them perfectly with all of the little extra's that you don't even know you need until you use it.

OHSO - You are starting to inspire me with the pirate outfits - I may have to do a little something!

No, the order has not gone in - and not for my procrastination either! I am waiting for you all to tell me for sure if the order is correct. The people who said they didn't think it was right originally have not said that the order I posted is now correct!!!!!! Ahem, Julie - I see you there! (Thanks for the countdown today too)

I want to order, but I don't want to screw it up either.

It's a long weekend here in the states, so that may be the dullness. But, I am at work, but burried. I will return with tales of my weekend for you shortly.

Candles were lit, - degrees were seen, sleeping bags were deployed, and restaurants were heroes.

Pat - never can go wrong with a Honda.

Oh, and I had Angelina Pinot Noir and it was one of the most spectacular wines I have ever had!!! Thank you for getting me to try Russian River Valley wines. It was sooooo goood. I was lucky to be able to walk out of the restaurant on Saturday night.

Is it a lot of work to exchange one picture for another once the page is made?

No, not at all - and thanks. I thought it would be good to see everyone in one page - and be able to figure out ages of kids better.

I am trying a new page too to see if I can get it clearer, but it probably won't be this week as I am burried - all the down time last week was waiting for some info to be able to prepare for a meeting i have Friday morning and then that afternoon I fly out for Orlando for work for the weekend. I still need to pack - clean the house - get the famliy ready for me to be gone for four nights - and probably work every evening for this meeting.

OHJulie

Hi julie , it will be nice that for just one night I can step into something that I am not , a wench . LOL , we were not going to dress up either at first but so many others inspired me also to go ahead and just do it .

Bellaandreallasmom , Oh no naughty me , sorry about that I wasn't sure what the picture with 69 was all about . OOOPS . I didn't even realize how close we are to setting sail .:yay: :yay: :yay:

I did start tanning yesterday and of course as usual I burned my bum . I am only going to go twice a week till 3 weeks prior then I'll do 3 times a week . It just feels so nice to be warm and it is the only alone time I get even if it is only 15 minutes .

CG, where are you staying for your Orlando business trip ? Are you going to get any chance to have a little bit of fun time . I am ready to tell DH that work is sending me to Orlando for 3 days just so I can get the heck out of here and to some warmer weather. Do you think you can send an offical looking invitation for me to join you ?

Wish I could - but we live by the corporate mantra of wholesale and budget minded - so you wouldn't fit into my pea hole sized hotel room I am sure.

Yeah, I have meetings at night and late in the afternoons and then on Monday so I am going to Epcot Saturday and then AK on Sunday morning to do EE.

I am not staying anywhere cool - I am actually staying up in Lake Mary. This is a scouting mission and work mission up in Sanford. I was going to stay Friday night down in WDW, had points all set aside for Boardwalk Villas, and also a $105 room in Hotel Royal Plaza, but decided to just stay in my hotel up there to save money. I was already buying two days of park passes, so I just don't want to spend $500 on a business trip. But, with doing it this was, I will probably just have the expense of the tickets, which I got super cheaply through buying them through the convention and visitors bureau for convention tickets (awesome little back-door deal there).

Thanks Julie. I will just make the adjustment for mketting and then order today. I don't think I am going to order 20 extra - I am just going to order what we have now.

Having a wonderful relaxing time here at my parents. My MOm and I went shopping yesterday afternoon, JACKPOT. :thumbsup2 She got me shoes and 2 shirts, each of the kids 2 pairs of shoes for the trip and a couple of other cute things. We also got my Dad a great tropical shirt. Saw my cousins yesterday who are coming on the trip and they are all getting excited too now that the date is coming so close.

CG- Thanks for amending my order.

OK heres a question, here at my parents all the little smiles are active doing all kinds of things at home they don't move. what do ai need to change on my computer?

Heading back to NY in a few hours but first going to head over to THE HOT DOG SHOP a Beaver County "hot spot" for lunch.

glad you're having fun at your Mom's.

I needed that too. I always need a Mom fix every few weeks. Its great to have the down time too with the kids - she gives them the attention while I can just relax for a little bit.

But our power went out and stayed out. We had to go camp at my sister's house - thank God she was in san Diego at the time. We just had to go out to dinner - shucks - and we got to play with candles, well, you know, safely. The temp in the house dropped very fast as soon as the sun went down. Peolple in Albany,NY have had their power out for days now - I can't even imagine in this weather.

I don't know what it going on with the smilies on your Mom's computer.

Good Morning Everyone,

I wish every weekend was a 3 dayer. Got lots done and had fun doing it.

CG, my order for the braclets stays the same.

I lost 2 lbs at Weightwatchers this week. WOOHOO :cool1: Hope next week is just as productive.

The weather here today is heading toward the 60's. We not used to the cold in this neck of the woods. Don't know how you guys do it.

Just got a call from my dad. His SIL and niece & family's house burned down yesterday. The dog knocked over a candle in another room. They lost everything and SIL is in the hospital/burn center in Augusta, GA with burns to her face and arms. That's the only info we have gotten.

I've only met this cousin maybe twice but how sad. Can't imagine anything like that happening.

Moved my grandmother to my aunt's house in Alexandria - just temporary. She's really liking it but I know that can get old quick - dad lived with us for 7 months (after 4 months in the hospital in Norfolk and here doing recovery from his amputation) - was ready for him to move out in like 2 months! Hopefully feelings don't get hurt and all will go well. It is for the best having people around while she's trying to get her strength back. She's hired a friend who is also a nurse to come and help out a few hours a day so that my aunt gets some time off. Seems like a really good situation!

I walked on the treadmill this morning!!! YEAH! I got off my keister and did it! Felt so good too, although I am really out of shape! I could only do 30 minutes but hey, it's a start! Been watching my food intake and lost 3 pounds in the last few days! Yeah!! I'm allowed to lose some but have to keep checking in with the doc so that we keep track. He really doesn't want me to lose any - I'm not dieting, just being careful - but I'm gonna try to do a really good job to get in shape by exercising and watching what I eat. I think it will help with the pregnancy, etc. I've had to put my diet on hold but they have my records and once I get the all clear after the baby is born, I can go back to it! So I don't lose anything I've paid into it and hadn't used! YEAHHHHHH!!!!

Alright, shower time! Been so busy that I haven't had time to shower this morning - pewwey!!! So, before the screen melts, gotta go!

Oh, one last thought - dad asked me in his call this morning if I would take him to the prostetic guy for some adjustments....whhhhaaaa....he actually asked me to take him?! He wants to get it adjusted?!?!? Does that mean he will try to get up and going now?!?! It's been almost three years since the surgery and he hasn't really gotten out of the wheelchair - I think he likes the comfort zone of it and everyone doing everything for him. Real attention getter, too.... okay, is my bad attitude about this showing?!

BYE!

Yup, my coat gets left off when it's in the 40s.

Its still teens here. Ooooo, I had my gloves on for my lunch errands. http://bestsmileys.com/cold/10.gif

Suzie - I was actually going to just put on an S.O.S. on you. Where ya been? I am really sorry to hear about the fire - one of my worst nightmares, that and car accidents freak the beeejesus out of me.

I always lose weight when I get pregnant. I lost a ton last time out and netted out at a total gain of 15 pounds - it was 12 pounds with Quinn. I truly believe that our bodies know what is our best weight for carrying children. I didn't diet at all, though. That's definately not good - so eat up, but maybe go easy on the ice cream (that's what my nurse used to say to me).

So guys, guess what I was doing at lunch instead of working out (I got stood up by my husband and kids for lunch due to a bad case of diaper rash so I didn't have my workout clothes along)?

I went to the store and got these crocs everyone raves about. Ooooh, they are like buttah on my feet right now. There was a huge thread about them on the Strategies board and I read that Payless had them, but they had the black ones and people were saying yuck to black - well, I was saying, hell ya, I LOVE black shoes, and this was a way I could easily merge into the croc wearing cult without looking tooo weird this weekend. They are the knockoffs, but prior to buying them I went to Dick's and tried the real ones on and these Payless variety actually fit and feel better to me. I then was able to take advantage of the BOGO sale and get Catrina some black patent leathers that she needed for the cruise. :cool1: And while I was at it, I stopped in at DSW and they had some awesome rolling bags - big tall ones that weigh next to nothing and fold in on themselves (hard to explain but just know that they are PERFECT for rolling on wine and diapers) for $12. If you have a DSW near you, go check it out. They are perfect for the cruise and I got one with sailboats and anchors on it.

Suzie . i'm so sorry to hear about your SIL , seems as thou lately you have been on a bad luck streak . I cannot imagine losing everything we own :( .

I have to try really hard to go to the gym too , I tried on my swimsuits and I'm not too happy . I really need to lose 10 pounds to actually like how they fit again . I am on the hunt for another tankini and skirted 2 piece tankini , I am finding this hunt to be tiring and disappointing . I like to order everything over the net and I have a feeling I am not going to look the way they do on me as they do on the models LOL.
I'm so drpressed ! Tomorrow it's back to the gym for me . They girls love the daycare there so it is one way to get us out of the house without spending money . Oh yeah , the swimsuits are my last purchase . Tell me what you think of this one ? I LOVE it but it is very pricey , not sure if it is in the budget .

Totally cute. I have a skirted suit that I live in. One of the best purchases I ever made. It's not frumpy, not matronly, just cute. I spent a lot on it too. One of the first times I had ever spent a lot of money on a suit. I normally would buy at end of season. So, if you love it, get it. But I only knew I loved my suit when I tried it on - no way would I have known it would have looked good prior to that. Suits are toughies to buy mail order unless you are a perfect size all around.

I have a new question for EVERYONE! So that means all you lurkers need to check in here too. http://bestsmileys.com/funny/5.gif

I have a way, thanks to new knowledge from the main cruise board, of faxing inventory control and asking for the Palo private room for a DIS meet for brunch. I was going to do it and surprise you all but then I got stuck with the inevitable question of then what would I do when I got it and it was for only 15 of us. The room seems to seat between 14-18 people and then they can set some tables outside the room for you. But when I got done with the count of active people here on the thread I got to 37 adults!

So who would be interested in doing this? I know a lot of you already have brunch plans, but would you want to do this altogether or leave your ressies as is?

Don't worry if all 37 of us want to do this - we'll just request it and see what they say.

Hi CG! If I am too late- no problem. I saw that you had us for 2 large bracelets and 6 med. I saw that you figured out sizes for us based on the ages. I think the little girls may need smalls(we have 2 little girls, 5yo) and the bigger girls(7,8) you decide.

Large

8 3/8 " (fits most adults)

0.5" Wide (about the width of an average thumb nail)

0.08" (Roughly 2 dimes thick)

Medium

7 3/8" (fits most kids and teenagers + small-framed adults)

0.5" Wide (about the width of an average thumb nail)

0.08" (Roughly 2 dimes thick)

Child

5 7/8" (for children 4-6 years old)

0.4" Wide (just a little smaller than the medium size Reminderband®)

0.08" (Roughly 2 dimes thick)

EVERYONE!!!! Please go check your sizing one more time! I just cut out the sizes and tried them on. The small is very small - it goes around 3 of my fingers and I have tiny fingers. I may just move a lot of you to medium automatically if you have a child above 4 yo. But please go check it out - tell me if your peanut would be able to wear it, OK.

Here is the list again:

LARGE MEDIUM SMALL
OSD 1 1 2
PJ 2 6
TT&J 1 2 2
SUZIE 2 1

CG - Now you've opened a can of worms. I measured my DH and myself and I think that I shold actually change ours from Large to Medium. I also measured Jessica and the small is fine for her.

So my order - 3 medium, 1 small.

As far as Palo goes, we already have our reservations that include my sister and their DH's - I think we will stick with just that. Thanks for the idea though!

OHSO - I like that suit. I tried mine on yesterday and all I can say is that I need to get the old Pilates DVD warmed back up!

Since the kids were home today we ran up to a costume store at lunch. Found a cute pirate costume for Jessica for $10.00. Kyle will not wear a costume (its against the teenage boy rule book), but he did find a skull and crossboned necklace. Also picked up a stuffed parrot, eyepatch and earrings. pirate:

Gosh, lots to reply to

First - CG - we should be 2 large, 1 medium should be right - thanks!
Palo meeting place sounds fun. We'd love to but we do have a few Palo ressies, so put us on 2nd string - want to make sure everyone has a chance!
We just were really busy this weekend. Checked in but it WAS SOOO SLOW here.

****Note: (Just got the call) they just took my grandmother to the hospital. Running EKG, etc and nothing is coming up normal. Not sure what's going on since I can't get straight info from anyone!!!

ohso: LOVE the suit! It's really cute but like CG, I'd NEVER be able to wear it. I'm jealous that you can....!!! Boy, there sure are a lot of cute hotties on our cruise!

If you're not happy, have you tried Land's End? They have really cute suits and lots of different orderings (ie: long torso, short torso, etc). That's the only suit my girlfriend will wear - oh, and she says they won't ride up!

Oh, not MY SIL...my dad's....I've actually never met her. Her husband was my dad's brother but he died in 1964 - before I was born. I've met his kids a few times (family reunions, funerals, etc). But thanks anyway. Seems like a lot of bad stuff happening lately to my family! They say things come in threes so I'm just waiting to see what happens next. :(

CG- Our wristband order looks great- please don't change any of the smalls (my kids have bony wrists). Also, we would be up for Palo's Brunch (as long as the kids are enjoying the clubs). Oh and the collage with names is great! :thumbsup2

Ohsodisney- I agree with the Land's End- they have all their 2 piece tops and bottoms sold separately so you can fit them to yourself better. It's so nice that Sear's now sells all the Land's End stuff so you can try it on.

Suzie- I am so sorry about your family troubles. I hope things start to look up.

We have been doing a little cruise shopping here and there to buy some new clothes for dinner on the ship. It's a great excuse to shop! I've also been working on my cabin door sign. Hopefully will be done this week. I love long weekends until they are over :( Back to the grind...

Cg- We're all set for Palo. I have ressies for 4 for Thursday but also I faxed a request in for the Palo's room for my family (12 Adults) for brunch on Thursday at 11:00. It's my cousin's 40th birthday that day. If they grant out request I will cancel our other reservation. I used my sister reservation # to request the room for dinner on Wednesday night for our group also. After I sent the fax I got a call that they had received the fax and will evaluate requests 30 days before the cruise date.

Bands- I think the order below isn't quite the change I made- 2 large, 5 medium, 2 small.

Oops, sorry. I thought you had brought it down to just your family. OK - so, yeah, you all are right, I tried the mock-up on around Quinn's wrist and the small is right for him too. Man, they have small wrists - never really sized it out before.

OK - so my panic about the smalls is over. I will wait one more day to order (it's like theme song running in my head). So if work is slow, I will order tomorrow.

Suzie - my thoughts are with you. You are going through so much ups and downs with her - or should I say downs and in the middle of the roads with her. It doesn't seem there has been an up lately.

mketting, you knew this faxing thing long before I ever clued into to it. Wonder if the Bella&Rella family has faxed for their huge group too????

OK - so we are up to 6 (8 with Suzie and Ed) for the brunch idea - and ohsodisney, they said I could not pick a date for the meal, just request the room and see what I get. But mketting did request a date so maybe you can, but I think I like our chances, if we get enough people, by just requesting the room, and not specifying a date. It is first come first served for faxes too - so I clued into this waaaay late. I am sorry, I am a newbie remember, just trying to keep up with what the other meets are doing on their cruises.

The good news is that of we are not able to do this, everyone seems to get what they want at Palo upon boarding with very little problems.

OK - TTFN - gotta go watch my one night of TV this week.

 Mom2!

CG - I think I mentioned I was requesting the room around the 90 day mark. Sorry if I didn't make the info clearer. Requesting the room any day is a good idea. The woman I talked to said if the date I picked didn't work out they would try some others, so if you leave it wide open I think your will likely have a good chance to get the room at some time.

Wow, a lot of different threads going on!

First of all, AAAARRRRRR!!!! pirate: [This Testosterone Moment was brought to you by The Pirate]. Ok, Honey, now that's done. Go back to your scotch and cigar.

Suzie, I'll be thinking about your grandmother. Hang in there.

CG - whatever wristbands we end up with are fine. If it doesn't fit around the Pirate's wrist, I'll make it into a lovely macrame choker.

Brunch at Palo - we're ready for good food and a mimosa anytime. We already have ressies; do we have to give them up?

Pat - buy the red one.

Mkett - love the posters. Keep 'em coming.

OSoDis - you burned your bum? Stop doing that! Someday, when you are old and wrinkled like me, you will have to bare your bum to a dermatologist young enough to be your son. Then you'll be sorry! :duck: (Personally, I never sunbathe in anything less than a muumuu. Or moomoo if you are from Iowa :) )

And whoever it was that was asking about dressing for pirate party; We will be at Palo for dinner that night. The Pirate will be in a suit, but will be wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates tie to keep in the spirit of the occasion. I probably won't be in WenchWear that night, tho....well, maybe just the leather bustier....(it lifts and separates!)

68 days. Wow, seems like it was just 70, my how time flies.

Good evening! I've been away this weekend (again)--all-day crop Saturday, then out of town to visit family for Sunday/Monday.

CG, thank you so much for that summary page of all our pics--I love it and it will be my guide in the cruise terminal for sure! Also, our bracelet order is just right...and we would LOVE to join in on the Palo. We have a ressie for late dinner, but no brunch. However, I'm w/Suz--we want to be sure everyone gets a chance to eat there, so if this is someone's only chance, we can bow out.

Michelle--Our pastor puts those 'inspirations' up on the screen at church sometimes for a good laugh--they're great!

Suzie--What a time for you & your family! I'll be praying for your Gma especially tonight! I truly hope she's okay

OHso--Regarding swimsuits, I've been looking also. Just wondering how come MANY women use (or should use) underwire bras and yet so FEW swimsuits are made that way? Is it because they think the water will hold you up?? :confused3 (TMI, sorry!) I was going to order from Lands End just last week, but thought I'd ck the mall 1st, thanks Mom2, I'll try SEARS first!

Pat--it's so exhausting to go car shopping. You have to wear a sign that says "I've been to 5 dealerships already, so don't mess with me!" A cple years ago, when we finally found a salesman who got the hint, he just left us alone until we had a question and then answered it with NO pushiness, so we bought from him. Wish they'd all figure that out. Regardless, I hope you get the Honda...how fun to have a new car. I'm always so careful with it, keeping it clean and driving so careful for the first 6 months or so, then it just becomes 'part of the family'.

OHJulie--glad to hear that Kyle won't wear a costume either. Mike says the ones online are all 'lame'. Going to try to find just the pirate/peasant shirt with accessories, no flamboyant hat or striped pants for him & his buddy, nosiree.

This cruise is coming up SO FAST! :cool1: The countdown is great BelleandRellasMom! Calculating if I can lose X number of pounds per week with about 9 wks left....

I got my new rolling suitcase from Disney friday--It doesn't fold up all nifty like yours, CG, but it's nicer than the teal floral 3 pc set that we got from in-laws as a wedding gift. :crazy2: (slightly outdated!!) Time to start packing, shopping and I guess I better start tanning too. Never fake-tanned before, so I'm glad to know that 15 min is too long for your first session--sorry the knowledge comes at your expense, OHSO!

Whew! Thank goodness for a holiday weekend...I was afraid of how long it would take me to catch up, but it seems everyone else was away/quiet too. So there's my babbling for the night. :cloud9:

Well , it's 5:00am here , my daughter who never has accidents did and she was sooooooooo upset so we have been up for almost an hour now , I feel so bad for her .

CG , I'm stealing your name highlighting idea , it is so much easier to read that way when you are repleying to someone.

Rubysmom , not a problem , I can be your test drive dummy , 15 minutes is way too much , try 5 or 10 for maybe 3-4 sessions until you have a base. I use tanning lotion on occassion but when we go away I have to go to the beds because it typically if you are careful it helps prevent from burning on vacation, lotions don't.

The Roses , Mr Rose is really getting into the pirate thing , YIPPY , give him a big AAARRRRRR for me :)

Mom2coby , isn't great when you have an excuse for shopping? Usaully it is the only time I get new clothes for myself . I have a Banana Republic addiction, I use to merchandise for Gap and we got a 40% discount so I Ioaded up .

Well, I should head back to bed before my girls wake up and realize I'm gone . I only let them sleep with me when DH is away, I feel much safer to have them close in case anything ever happened . Their bedroom is way on the other side of the house and the thought of a fire or anything scares me to death. I know it may be crazy but they are my one and only babies .

Good nite everyone :cloud9:

CG- I do a lot of bracelets for kids and Katie's size is still 5 inches, Hannah is somewhere in the 6 inch range, so I think to be safe I am going to get 2 for each of them. The average bracelet size for an adult female is 7.5 so I think Patty and I will take meds.

So:

2 Large- Pat and Mike
4 meduim-Patty, Jennifer, Hannah and Skyler
4 small-Katie, Rylee, Hannah and Skyler

I think that should do it. That way-we will be covered if we lose one or the meds turn out too big. Thanks a bunch.

Congrats to all you big losers out there. I hurt myself doing lat pulldowns a few weeks back and totally fell off the wagon in all respects. So I am trying a new tactic. Mike and Patty are coming for a visit next month-March 24th. I am going to try a midrange goal of say 4 lbs by then instead of focusing on the larger more intimidating goal. Needless to say-bathinsuit shopping will have to wait until our Easter vaca to Fl. BUT I made a delicious soup for dinner last night. I scanned the recipe and aside from the 8 oz of Italian sausage it looked pretty healthy. I didn't read that you are to stir in 4 tblsp of butter at the end......duh. I am paying for it today that is for sure.

I am dying to find out PartyPat's choice of car!! I was in the Auto industry for 11 years and I still have a soft spot for new cars....even though it will be awhile before I get a new one, unless Pat's Piece of S*** saab dies soon. We have 2 payments left and I am just praying it lasts another year or 2.

Ohsodisney-That is so upsetting to a little kid. Katie has been potty trained since she was 2 but she falls alseep before we can get her to go to the bathroom some nights. Sat. night we had a sitter, and we forgot to wake her up to go to the bathroom. Needless to say-we were at my parents house and she peed all over herself and PAT-OH was he mad :furious: It only seems to happen in the beds that DON'T have the rubber sheets. :rotfl:

Have a great day.

My first attempt at posting a picture. I knew that you all would bear with me. :scared:

Thanks

quick post prior to a meeting

mketting, I wasn't mad that I missed you saying this - I just missed it. I didn't know anything about requesting the room, so when you said it, I most likely didn't even know what you were talking about. It just an afterthought anyways, if we all want to do it together, it should be no problem going up and asking at Rocking Bar D.

Ummmm, lost the rest of my train of thought. I will be back............

oh, inthemood, nope, not too late. I will need to do a reconfiguration today and figure this out again, but you will be all set. I will post the ordering info again this afternoon as one last check, and then it will be no big deal if some stuff is wrong because we should have extras of every size in the order.
