Does anyone know when DVC will be coming out with its point cost/allocation for the 2002 cruises? We went on a 7 Day in June and can't wait to go back. We just purchased our 3rd DVC resale and are waiting to book again!!

Is anyone else bummed by the huge difference in points between eastern and western routes? I finally got DH a teeny bit interested but he's not interested in St. Maarten/St. Thomas at all. Until I saw the whole list I thought both 7 day cruises were the same points.

The Western Carribbean cruise is more points and it is more if you are paying cash as well. The cruise is a higher cost due to a further route which entails more fuel, an additional port of call, and the costs of port charges etc, to the cruise line.

You might consider paying points for one person and cash for the additional fare, if you do not have enough points saved up. :)

Carol.....you mentioned that the Western route is longer. We are taking the Western Cruise on 6/08/02 and I've been looking at a map trying to determine what the route from Key West to the Caymans will be. I know this is probably stupid but how will they approach the Caymans from Key West? Will they go from the Gulf of Mexico directly to the Western Caribbean bypassing Cozumel in favor of going to port at Grand Cayman and then backtracking to Cozumel and then Castaway Cay in the Bahamas? Btw....I am a first time cruiser so I'm not familiar with cruise routes. Any information will be appreciated!:)

Has anybody mixed points and cash? How much of each did it cost?

I haven't wanted spend points on the cruise yet...I have good deals on DCL so I've been saving my points for WDW and the concierge collection.

Now maybe if my s/o get that job he applied for making $40k/yr more, then I'll splurge just a little :p

Tony, DVC is Disney Vacation Club. You can purchase DVC points (time share) that can be used to stay at WDW and other resorts. They can also be used for DCL cruises. For more information, try reading the DVC Board (http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=28) on this site.
