First the question:
IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth officially debuted on ???

We usually stay for more than a week when we change hotels, and it's a step up from what we stayed at for our first part of our stay. We like to switch when we're there for 10 days or more, which most of our summer trips have become :cloud9: , it kinda feels like a whole new vacation :earboy2:

Hey Ya'll !!!

I, too, was going to list EVERYthing else not based on a Disney character or movie--------but then I re-read the question....

Can we get a ruling Higgs----does there have to BE a movie that the ride is based on or does it include EVERYthing that is not based on a DISNEY MOVIE?

HELP?????

:cool1: :moped: :cool1:

MonorailDude
01-21-2005, 03:34 PM
Yeah, I think you are right. All of my guesses seem to be wrong then. I guess I need to read it more closely. ::yes::

gometros
01-23-2005, 11:45 AM
Iinteresting interpretation of Higgs' question. I'll narrow my guesses down to

Star Tours (Star Wars)
Indiana Jones Stunt Show (Indiana Jones)
Body Wars (Fantastic Voyage)
HISTA (HOney, I Shrunk the Kids)
MuppetVision 3-D (The Muppet movie series)

Granny
01-24-2005, 01:47 PM
I suppose that if HISTA is correct, then HISTK Playground at MGM Studios is also an answer.

Also, isn't the PT Boat scene at Backlot Tours supposed to be based on some movie (non-Disney)?

Higgs22
01-24-2005, 03:34 PM
OK...Sandy got what I meant by the question--I was looking for rides based on movies not made by Disney (but I will expand that to include a TV show--since there was also a movie based on that show)
wdwtheplacetobe--gets credit for most of the Great Movie Ride
JCTigger--gets credit for Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (the TV show/movie) Indy Jones and Star Tours
Sandy gets credit for Body Wars and Muppetvision (they weren't part of Disney when that was made...)
As for HISTA--that movie was actually made by Disney--so it doesn't count...
Also Granny, the backlot tour PT boat was re-themed to Pearl Harbor, another Disney movie...

That's all I can think of...anyone got any other guesses that I mayhave missed?

JCTigger
01-24-2005, 04:23 PM
That's all I can think of...anyone got any other guesses that I mayhave missed?

If you want to be really picky then you can say universe of energy which shows Jeopardy.. which i dont think is associated with Disney... other then that i cant think of anything....

Higgs22
01-27-2005, 11:34 AM
No--JCTigger that works too---Universe of Energy does revolve around Disney...good answer :earsboy:

wdwtheplacetobe
01-28-2005, 05:10 PM
Also TRUE!!!!!

Your next question, Higgs...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Higgs22
01-29-2005, 11:47 PM
OK here's one I don't think has been asked...
On Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Play It!--what are the prizes awarded to the player in the hotseat? And what point levels do you have to reach to get those prizes?

Please note...I am basing this question on my experience in October---I'm not sure if they've changed the prizes since then...but I don't think so....

wdwtheplacetobe
01-30-2005, 11:20 AM
I sort of know the partial answer....my friend was in the hot seat and won 2 years ago....

pins, hat, and t-shirt....

MonorailDude
01-30-2005, 10:22 PM
I think it is.............

$1,000- 5 pins. Baseball Cap.
$3,200- 10 pins and a T-Shirt.
$1,000,000- 15 pins, hat, T-Shirt, Disney Cruise.

At least something like this. ::yes::

Higgs22
01-31-2005, 11:10 AM
I think it is.............

$1,000- 5 pins. Baseball Cap.
$32,000- 10 pins and a T-Shirt.
$1,000,000- 15 pins, hat, T-Shirt, Disney Cruise.

At least something like this. ::yes::

Thay's close enough...the $32,000 prize was a golf shirt instead of a T-shrit...but like I said, close enough--you're up
:earsboy:

JamesD
01-31-2005, 01:57 PM
Well, you also get a lanyard for the pins at any level above 1000 points.
At 1 million, you also get a very nice jacket, and a 1 million point medallion!

Higgs22
01-31-2005, 02:49 PM
True--I forgot the lanyard (and I should remember that one--I have one hanging beside my bed...)

ok a mathmatical question
i start my magic kingdom trip at 9.38 am i walk up main street and chaeck out the shops (14 mins) i walk round to adventureland and walk up to the swiss family treehouse (8 mins) i get i line for jungle cruise (5 min wait) and get on the ride go on the aladdin ride (15 min wait) get on then leave to spash mountain to get fastpass then get onto BTMRR (25 min wait) then go through the fastpass line to splash mountain (4 min walk to the ride) after this is leave to watch philarmagic (10 min wait) IASW (20 min wait) and the mad tea cups (15 min wait) then go to tommorrowland to get fastpasses for space mountain then went on TTA (2 min wait) got off and went onto space mountain (10 min wait) after a magical morning i went back to the hotel
for a rest before going to another theme park how long was it there for and what time did i leave (excluding food and characters) find out the length of the rides and give an extimated time
i know it's confusing and now i need to find out the answer too so try and find out before me
:p
EDIT: i changed the answer because i found it out also don't give the time of the rides you need to add the time of the rides to the already waiting times for thr rides

JCTigger
02-01-2005, 01:57 PM
i think maybe i figured this out

i start my magic kingdom trip at 9.38 am i walk up
main street and chaeck out the shops (14 mins)
14 minutes
i walk round to adventureland and walk up to the swiss family treehouse (8 mins)
wait time 8 minute length to walk thru 15 minutes
i get i line for jungle cruise (5 min wait) and
5 min wait 9 minute ride
get on the ride go on the aladdin ride (15 min wait)
15 min wait 1minute 20 seconds
then leave to spash mountain to get fastpass
5 minutes
get onto BTMRR (25 min wait) then
25min wait 3.5 min ride
go through the fastpass line to splash mountain (4 min walk to the ride)
4minute wait 11 minute ride
after this is leave to watch philarmagic (10 min wait)
10 min wait 12 minute ride
IASW (20 min wait) and
20min wait 10.5 min ride
the mad tea cups (15 min wait)
15 minute wait 1.5 minutes
then go to tommorrowland to get fastpasses for space mountain
10 minute walk
then went on TTA (2 min wait)
2 minute wait 10 minute ride
space mountain (10 min wait)
10 minute wait 2.5 minute ride
after a magical day i went back to the hotel
after this how long was it there for and what time did i leave (excluding food) find out the length of the rides and give an extimated time

202minute 70 seconds
3hours 22minutes 70 seconds
start time 9.38 end time 1.00.70 seconds

:teacher: that one was fun but chances are im totally wrong :confused3

marypops!
02-01-2005, 02:09 PM
well i didn't add the extra seconds and i got a bit lower so i guess im wrong or your wrong
depends on who agrees with you

:wave2: I'll agree!

:3dglasses

marypops!
02-01-2005, 02:19 PM
hmmm
ill have to say it's about 10 mins lower *hint hint*
btw i can't be 70 seconds because there are 60 seconds in a min

Higgs22
02-01-2005, 02:46 PM
How about 212 minutes???

hmmm
ill have to say it's about 10 mins lower *hint hint*
btw i can't be 70 seconds because there are 60 seconds in a min

marypops!
02-01-2005, 03:11 PM
i said lower not higher
:p

Higgs22
02-01-2005, 09:22 PM
Well...I give up---math was never my strong subject...

JCTigger
02-02-2005, 08:57 AM
so about 193 minutes or 2hours and 13 minutes

when i was adding the seconds i wasnt really paying attention to the fact that i had 70 seconds not 1min 10 seconds more.....

marypops!
02-02-2005, 10:30 AM
il just say your right
i got 192 and in hours i got 3hrs 12
so i would leave at 12.50 have lunch at the hotel then go to EPCOT
:p
a mathmatical "oh my head hurts i didn't know that i would be here for this long "AAQ to you then JCTigger

DisneyBen
02-06-2005, 07:21 PM
Wow, over 4 days without a post in this thread. That's gotta be some kind of record!! :earseek:

I'll use an old AAQ card to get this one rolling again:
Name the 2 tracks of Space Mountain and the lengths of each (in feet).

ksdave
02-06-2005, 10:35 PM
I know they're named Alpha and Omega. But any guess at lengths would be a wild one.....let's try 2,245' and 2,315'.
I won't be able to confirm since I'll be on my way to Orlando tomorrow morning :Pinkbounc

DisneyBen
02-06-2005, 10:41 PM
You got part of it, Dave. The tracks are called Alpha and Omega, but your guess is too low.

Have a great time on your trip!!

wdwtheplacetobe
02-06-2005, 10:45 PM

How about 2727 ft and 2927 ft????

:cool1: :confused3 :cool1:

Higgs22
02-07-2005, 02:18 PM
I have no idea on the lengths...I do know that they are not using the names Alpha and Omega anymore...when I was there in October--I think they just had no names on them...

As for the lengths---how about 3,000 and 3,100 feet???

MonorailDude
02-07-2005, 04:01 PM
3,186 feet & 3,196 feet
(Alpha & Omega tracks)

Hi debbiedoo, Welcome to the Parks Game. :wave2:

... could it be the "Black Pearl"? ;)

Just a couple of notes....

To remain here on the "Theme Parks and Attractions Strategies" boards, the posts we make on the Parks Game must all be questions and answers relating directly to WDW Parks. As long as we do this the moderators here graciously allow us to remain here.

We also like to bold the Question so that the open question is easily found.

Thanks and nice to have you here at the Parks Game. We love it when new people come to play. ::yes::

Peter Pan... to bold your question, when posting, just click on the B at the apper left corner of your blank writing space. A pop up box comes up. Type your question there and click [ok]. It is as easy as that.

WHAT WAS WALT DISNEY'S FAVORITE ATTRACTION?

I would guess the WDW Railroad.

(Psstttt.... The questions here must pertain to Walt Disney World attractions only so that we may remain on the WDW Theme Parks and Attractions Strategies boards)

:earboy2: :scared1: pirate:

JamesD
02-28-2005, 11:33 PM
Now I know why you answered with a WDW attraction, MBabe?
The answer has to be at Disneyland, since Walt never lived to see WDW!
The answer is the Enchanted Tiki Room.

wdwtheplacetobe
03-01-2005, 12:44 AM
James---Weren't the Plans made BEFORE the opening??? Both Carousel of Progress and IASW were at the NY World's Fair in 1964....I saw them first there---and altho young, became Disneyfied then....

:confused3 :cool1: :confused3

But, still....am Not sure of this answer????

I guess we'll have to wait for the ruling....

Ya'll have a magical night/day!!!!

MickeyBabe
03-01-2005, 03:40 PM
Yes James, you do! ;)

(I also would go with the Enchanted Tiki room as Walt's favorite DL attraction)

wdwtptb... Yes the plans were made before WDW was opened, but the atttractions themselves were opened in DL first also. From there, Walt had a favorite attraction, but it really was a Disneyland attraction at the time.

Since it relates back to the copy at WDW, I'm hoping the semantics police and mods look the other way. ;)

MickeyBabe
03-02-2005, 09:21 AM
peter pan.... No worries. :)

Over the years, we have found that you can often find conflicting sources, especially on the net. :teacher: This is why the PG pretty much runs under the unwritten rule of "Your question, your answer" ::yes::

Since you awarded the AAQ to wdwtptb, they can now ask a question.

If wdwtptb is not ready with one, James can ask one until they are since I am sure he has plenty of AAQ cards lying around himself, he is pretty knowlegable. :teeth:

hmmmm....
My next guess would be, The Carousel of Progress???

MickeyBabe
03-03-2005, 09:50 PM
Your hint is a bit confusing so I'll cover all of my bases....

* Tom Morrow was originally present as the Director of Operations in Mission Control for the Flight to the Moon.

* Alien Encounter, paid tribute to the former attraction in the queue area, where an upcoming lecture at the Tomorrowland Interplanetary Convention Center was entitled, "Mission to Mars: History or Hoax?" given by "Tom Morrow."

* As you mentioned Tom Morrow is paged on the TTA, he is also paged in the Star Tours queue at MGM.

* Finally the miniature robot Tom Morrow 2.0 is your technoguide to the future along "Innoventions: The Road to Tomorrow" in EPCOT.

I have a 2 part train question....

How long is the track at WDW RR ? And.. What did the trains haul when the Disney people found them in Mexico?

plutospup

The track circling the park is 1.5 miles, and the trains I believe carried produce  from the plantations on the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico.

Gymbomom
03-06-2005, 09:13 PM
The trains were bought from the Yucatan Uniterd Railways in 1969 were they hauled passengers and freight in the Yucatan. :earsboy:

Some of these may be stretching but here are some second thoughts...

* Pirates of the Carribean (there is that little hill)
* Figment's ride in Epcot
* Condensation in the cold area in Test Track?
* Condensation in the Igloo CocaCola Sodas of the Word Thang? hehe
* Dropping a hand in the water at Small World?
* Buying yourself one of those fan spray bottles (Love mine!)
* Rude CM throws water in your face at CRT Character breakfast when you ask when Shrek will be out?
* Being in line behind a child who can't wait anymore?
* Having a water bottle emptied over your head when you pass out due to the beauty & splendor of the newly decorated castle?

That's all I got... I ain't got no more!

Isn't there something at MGM near Indiana Jones where if you pull on a rope, or open a box, something special (think wet!) will happen? ...or was that somewhere else at MGM?

Voyage of the Little Mermaid. When you go under the sea, the misters come on!

...and at one point on Big Thunder Mt when you're inside the mountain, water drips on you (I still remember 20 yrs ago when Mom complained about getting new hairdo wet!)

Hint. The name is unisex. Whether the CM is male or female (and I've seen the part played by both) the name works. Now try.

Have ya'll actually gone to WDW? It's Chris!
There used to be an actual cast member (male or female) in the real studio, that would react to the question. Now, that was an exciting job!

MrsT
03-15-2005, 11:46 AM
Yes it is Chris. I remember because it's my name. I've seen it myself many times. AAQ to you, JamesD!
