Correct! Margaret Hamilton played the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz which can be seen on the Great Movie Ride at MGM.
An " I'll get you my pretty... and your little dog too! ...AAQ" to KPeveler! Let's have the next question!

Ooh, that would be the Haunted Mansion -- sure hope they're careful w/ the refurb -- can you imagine if they remove the wrong dust!!! :lmao:

minijeanie... no flames here, just a little guidance.
Here on the Parks Game we ask questions only after answering one correct. We also try to keep the game to one open question at a time to avoid confusion.
All of the Parks Game Guidelines (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=654898) can be found on the first page of the thread.

cabanafrau, you are of course, correct!
Funny, in May I told a young friend that Disney was going to refurbish the attraction and when he asked what they were going to do (after witnessing what has been done to PotC) I told him they were going to clean out all of the old dust and then make it dirty again! :rotfl:
One very dusty AAQ card to you cabanafrau.... You're up!

The coaster was built first and the building constructed around it.

Hope you're having a great time at WDW! I was at the SoG when I was at WDW in March and I must say it's pretty nice. Wish it had a better bus service, however. Anywho...have a great trip! Bring back some great questions!
Anybody have an AAQ to use?
Also, just to add (I haven't really been around lately so I've missed alot...), when you go backwards in the HM when you get to the graveyard, it is symbolizing your death. When you face forward again, you have entered the Spirit World yourself as a happy haunt.
Mickey_Maniac
07-17-2007, 07:21 AM
OK, since no one has used up an overdue AAQ, I'll go ahead and throw an easy one out there to revive the thread... (where is everyone? At WDW?)
Name at least 3 of the trains on Big Thunder Mountain

HINT: A D-ticket attraction, it apppears to be in two different 'lands.'
disneycruise05
07-24-2007, 11:20 PM
Hmmm...the only attraction that I can think of that appears to be in 2 lands would be the Liberty Square Riverboat (docking in Liberty Square and passing through Frontierland). However, I don't think it was a D-Ticket attraction. Maybe the Mad Tea Party? It kinda sits right on the edge of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
ScottOKW2K
07-24-2007, 11:38 PM
Admiral Joe Fowler Riverboat
Named after the retired navy admiral who was in charge of construction for Disneyland and Walt Disney World, this riverboat didn't travel the Rivers of America on opening day in 1971. It premiered a day later on October 2. It used to require a D ticket.

Welcome disneyfanUSA! Here are the ground rules for all of the newcomers. Welcome everyone! Don't be a lurker, be a poster!
There are only a few rules….
You may ask a question after correctly answering a question and being awarded an AAQ (Ask A Question) card.
Questions should be in bold to allow us to follow the game more easily.
Lurking is okay, but it’s a lot more fun to jump in and guess! There is no punishment for wrong answers here!!
Questions should be focused on the four WDW theme parks in order to maintain our place on this board. A continued thank you to the moderators for allowing this game to continue for more than 3 years.

If there's one thing we've learned about WDW (and Disney, for that matter!), is that everything has a name!
Here's the answer:
Hurricane Connie is the storm that turned the "Placid Palms Resort" into Typhoon Lagoon. It is also the same fictional storm that destroyed much of Pleasure Island. You can find debris, such as boxes from the Fireworks Factory, which used to be a restaurant at Pleasure Island, over at Typhoon Lagoon.

08-06-2007, 11:27 PM
Hmmmm....I don't think it was PotC. When WDW opened, people complained that it wasn't there, so they had to hurry up and build it. If I remember correctly, the imagineers thought that people wouldn't be interested in a ride that is based in the Caribbean since it is so close. It was much more of a fantasy in California. Anywho....my guess is for the Swiss Family Treehouse. I thought it was open on the first, but I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time!
However, the idea of "...a Tiki Room for me..." does crack me up! :lmao:
dzneynut
08-07-2007, 12:47 AM
Nope, Jungle Cruise and Swiss Family Treehouse were two of the first three Adventureland attractions.
Pirates of the Caribbean wasn't even planned for Walt Disney World, but they changed their mind, and it opened in Dec. 1973, exactly seven years after the passing of Walt Disney.

Oh! I remember this. It was Dumbo, wasn't it? It's rumored that he never rode it because he was a Republican. And since Dumbo, being an elephant, was a symbol of the Democratic party, he never wanted to be seen "supporting" the party.

Re: MSEP...The Orange Bowl has been an evening game for many years, therefore being "prime time" TV. For many years Disney provided a halftime show. The Orange Bowl lights would be lowered, and the lights from the MSEP, or other similar floats would provide a great show. Of course, at the same time (with a huge tv audience) it provided a great marketing opportunity for WDW!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO THE P.G. THREAD!!!
Just to make it official, here is the story of the thread:
This continues the long-running DIS board trivia game about the WDW theme parks. This thread was begun on September 17, 2001 by supamaki in the days after the 9-11 terrorist attacks, and was a source of escapism and a safe haven in the days following that great tragedy. Since that time, this thread has stayed on this board through it’s eleven previous versions with hundreds of players partaking in the fun of asking and answering questions related to WDW theme park trivia.
And, in keeping with Parks Game tradition, we will start the seventh year of this thread with the question that started it all….
In what WDW attraction is there a dog named Nana? And what year did it open?

Disneyland's Stretching Room is an elevator dropping you down below ground level, while WDW's floor stays still and the ceiling rises.

Wait a second...How about Ursula, the sea witch at Fantasmic! I believe she appears on the mountain. She also appears in VOTLM on stage, but technically she's "under the sea".

Wasn't there a sea serpent topiary in the Magic Kingdom at one point? I'm thinking it was down by the Rose Garden on the right side of the Castle near Tomorrowland.
