Good guess DisneyCruise, but MickeyBabe has it correct.
Tiki was originally a dinner show in the planning stages. Ultimately the imagineering led to thoughts of the Polynesian Resort :cloud9: .
Aloha & an AAQ to you, MickeyBabe!

Hi MickeyBabe!
You have signed up for the MagicMeet in July, haven't you? ;)
The answer to your question is a wave-making machine for the Polynesian Resort.
MickeyBabe
02-23-2007, 07:24 AM
James, you are correct!
The wave machine cause beach erosion at the resort resulting in a loss of beach front and therefore was permanently dismantled.

I'm pretty sure that Beachcomber Isle is the island near the Poly. As for the other two, I think one of them is Castaway Cay...not just a deserted island in the Caribbean!

Thanks for the assist, dzneynut! It is amazing how the Disney folks have moved those attractions and characters around. I actually saw the original Caroussel of Progress as a young boy at the New York World's Fair. I grew up on Long Island and got to go several times. Remember the "space ship" towers from Men In Black? I was so scared of heights during the fair that my folks said I would crawl around up there, too afraid that if I stood up I would fall  .

DL had no Peter Pan inside the ride for many, many years. Guests often asked, why is it Peter Pan's Flight if you never see Peter? The guests themselves were supposed to be Peter, flying along in his ship over London & off to Neverland. When Disney got ready to put the ride in DW, it was designed w/ Peter in sight. DL brought Peter inside the ride in a rehab sometime in the same era.

Just wanted to chime in on this...I saw it on my one 15-minute internet session on my trip..
The picture in the foyer changes into a skeleton...does that count as a ghost? As for the first time you see ghosts after boarding the doom buggies is after you see Madame Leota. Since she summons the ghosts and spirits, you're able to see them.

Does this mean my question has to be about Spaceship Earth?
Not at all! It can be about whatever you would like as long as it is within the actual parks (not the resorts and such). Here are the rules from page 1.
This continues the long-running DIS board trivia game about the WDW theme parks. This thread was begun on September 17, 2001 by supamaki in the days after the 9-11 terrorist attacks, and was a source of escapism and a safe haven in the days following that great tragedy. Since that time, this thread has stayed on this board through it’s eleven previous versions with hundreds of players partaking in the fun of asking and answering questions related to WDW theme park trivia.
There are only a few rules….
You may ask a question after correctly answering a question and being awarded an AAQ (Ask A Question) card.
Questions should be in bold to allow us to follow the game more easily.
Lurking is okay, but it’s a lot more fun to jump in and guess! There is no punishment for wrong answers here!!
Questions should be focused on the four WDW theme parks in order to maintain our place on this board. A continued thank you to the moderators for allowing this game to continue for more than 3 years.
Have fun!
