So far its just Bob and I booked so I only have to pay the $500 deposit and I will add the kids later.
Now I just wish It wasnt 2 years away. We need to have some reunions between now and then.

Bobby - Maybe we all could do the Fury Catamaran (sp?) Excursion in Cozumel that Ginny and her family did. They really liked it I think!
Ginny - Do you want me to add your kids to the list? If so, do you want me to put their names on the list?
Joanna - Do you think I should change the name of the thread? I will if you think it won't draw new cruisers!
Terry - Is it alright that I included your son's names on the list?

Mary Rose - I sent you a PM
I would definately do Fury Catamaran again - it was a BLAST
SeaSpray

I'm kind of looking forward to Cozumel because John and I really didn't get to see it at all this last time because we did the Tulum ruins excursion and went right back to the ship afterwards. The Fury Catamaran sounds like fun.
Mary Rose: You can leave the boys' names on the list for now. I'm going to book with just John and I, and we'll decide later, if the boys want to join us or not. Their ages would be 18 and 15, at cruise time. Yikes! Craig would be 18!!!!!!!!!! :faint: LOL
O'BWV
09-29-2004, 08:51 PM
Ginny - I PM'd you back! I really wanted to do the Fury Catamaran in Cozumel and if I knew you guys were doing it I would have joined you (if you would have had me). We went to Paradise Beach instead and that was really great too, but after two stops at CC (yeah!), I'd be looking for something other than just beach at Cozumel. Glad you enjoyed it, it makes my decision easy then!

I booked the 8/19 cruise today without telling my husband. Now I just need to hide the $1000 deposit on our credit card bill and the itinerary when it comes in the mail. We've never been on a DCL cruise. I am hoping that my husband and sons will like cruising. We currently have the August 20, 2005 reposition cruise booked and the Thanksgiving 2005 booked. I hope after the first cruise everyone will agree that more cruises are in our future. We are myself (46), DH41, DS12, and DS9 at time of cruise.
The August cruises work out great for us because our kids don't go back to school until after Labor Day out here. I hoping to spend a few days at WDW afterwards.
I couldn't wait until August 2005 to rebook onboard and get the 10% discount. If the prices go up more than 10% + $200, I'll have made the right decision. Otherwise, I'll rebook on board and cancel this reservation. I think that works?

Hi everybody.
I had been waiting for months to book a 7-day cruise for our 2006 March break and, even with early booking, it turned out that it was going to cost an arm and a leg (we'll be five, so we're booking category 4).
So, we've changed our plans to do the 8/19 special itinerary because it was quite a bit cheaper and had the second day at Castaway Cay.
Hopefully, we made the right choice but we will be first time DCL'ers.
Can anyone tell me how hot its going to be down there at that time of year?
Does anyone know anything about Costa Maya (or are most people thinking that the only port of call that matters is Castaway Cay)?
On the days that the ship will be at sea, are there "extra" activities going on aboard the ship to keep passengers entertained?
O'BWV
09-29-2004, 10:26 PM
Carol - I added you to the list. May I include any names & DD's age?
MECH8T7 - Welcome to the 8/19! Many of us here were on the 8/28 cruise this year and even though it is hot, it's not unbearable. We had a fabulous time on DCL and this is one fantastic group of people. We had great DIS meets and are all very fond of each other! We enjoyed Costa Maya very much although we didn't do any excursions so others will be able to help you better. We thought there was plenty do to on the ship both on at seas days and port days too! One of the highlights of our trip was CC and to be able to go twice is awesome! Would you like me to include you on the list. If so, need to know your sailing party. DH, DW, DD etc. and include names and ages of kids if you'd like! Welcome again!

Mary Rose:
When I checked the boards this morning I was surprised to see how many posts were complaining about the high rates for 2006.
We were waiting to book a cruise in late August just before Catherine (DSD 11 - Darling Step-Daughter) goes back to school.
Out of curiousity, I wanted to see how bad the rates were. I was very surprised to hear what a difference there was between the 8/12 and the 8/19, which is why I immediately started this thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=653584) to let everyone know how cheap the 8/19 "special" cruise was.
Jeff
O'BWV
09-29-2004, 10:38 PM
Jeff - I have to agree about the rates. Usually rates don't drop in Aug until the last week. In 2006, it appears they drop for 8/19. Great news for all of us!!! I guess everyone will catch on soon enough. We already have 50 people on our list and it's only the first day.
Love the pictures of your family!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. Dori (Elliotfan) works in the same office as my husband and I do. She sits across the aisle from him. She'll have to come over to my desk to talk about this cruise since my husband doesn't know about it yet. It will be interesting trying to keep it quiet until next year. I look forward to meeting you in August, Ginny.
I vicariously "lived" the 8/28 cruise knowing that Dori was on it. I closely watched the itinerary changes and hurricane status. I was jealous when she wasn't back to work as scheduled. Sounds like you had a great time despite the weather. I don't know how I am going to wait for 11 months for my first cruise. This forum has convinced me that we will have a great time.

GOOD MORNING ALL and WELCOME to all cruisers that joined this thread since I went to bed last night. Seems like a great group already.
Terry...The job is yours, as far as I'm concerned.
I enjoyed Costa Maya and Cozumel is a favorite of mine also.
CC in my opinion is like I imagine Bermuda to be. You dock by beach and have the ship as your beach hotel. Clear calm waters.

We've taken Disney cruises every year since they have started. Looking forward to next year's Mexico cruise and now I'm already getting anxious for 2006!!!!! Two days at CC - yippeee!
We are booked for Cabin 5020, next to someone else who
responded here - tell me, do any of you have boys that will be 14 at the time? We have a very shy boy (until you get to know
him!!!) and would like him to hang out in The Stack during
our 7 days.
We have met very nice people on the DIS boards and then
on the ship - I hope we can keep this thread going, even though it is TWO YEARS away. Let's all keep in touch.
We are from PA, Kutztown, in fact, saw alot of people from NY
(met some great people from Rochester this year). There will be me (if you think I'm going to list MY age, you got another thought coming), DH (he'll kill me if i list his age), our DS will be 14, and
we have another DS who would be 20, not sure that he will travel with us, although he LOVES these cruises.

Welcome lwilliam & family! I have added you to our list and added you DS (20) with a ?. Our DS will be 13 1/2 during of 2006 cruise, Doreen's DS (Reeniey18) will be 13 also and Joanna's (Mjsap) DD will be 14. Maybe they all will go to the stack. My DD age 14 for this past cruise, wasn't all that interested in the Stack, but my DS has a very different disposition then my DD, so I think he's more likely to try the Stack, but honestly, who the heck knows! The one thing I do know is that you can't predict these things! LOL. Since my DD is shy I decided that I'm going to get her more involved in the DIS as this cruise approaches. I see teen threads where the kids starting talking even before their onboard. I think that could help my DD, maybe your DS also.
Karen - Don't I WISH I was going back before Christmas! LOL!

Okay, I'm in! But still shaking from the impulsivity of my ressies! It's me, DH, and DSs who will be 9,9 and 13 (almost 14). lwilliam, my oldest would love to email your son about cruising! We're going in Nov, and he wishes he could hang out in the stack (but I know he will love the lab too).
DH was NOT happy with my spontaneous ressie, but after our Nov cruise, I'm sure he'll catch the fever!
With all of us going, we should cancel our ressies and re-book at a group rate!!!::yes::

Hello All!
We're in, too. Our cast of characters is as follows:
Me (Denise)
DH (Gregg)
DS (Aaron, who will be 10 by then)
DD (Brittany, who will turn 8 on the day that we set sail)
We are on deck 2, cat 9. I have 2534 on hold, may change it as it is on Dave's "noisy" list.
This is our second cruise. Hubby thought I was crazy, then saw the price for this date and said "well, OK". OK!?! I can't believe how prices are up up up for 2006! We had a cat 6 for spring break 2004, and could only get a cat 8 for the same price at other times during the summer. And this one is booked wayyyyyy in advance.
Anyway, hoping to get to know all of you!

WHEW, thanks for letting me know, any SPH is great I started to freak out as if maybe I booked the wrong date or something, you would not believe all the crazy thoughts I had. Any way I guess we now know who all our neighbors will be. This will be our third time in 5020 and we have 5520 booked for April vacation 2005. My BIlL took his time sending DU his request and unless he got a SPH on the other side I would say he is out of luck, hey, you snooze you lose.;)
This next cruise I will have to make it point to meet up with alll the Dis' crew. I think I really missed out on some crazy fun!

Have you guys been watching the news lately?
Up here in Washington, we don't have to worry about hurricanes... just volcanos. It looks like Mount St. Helens is going to blow her top again. The experts expect it to happen within the next week. Fortunately, it won't be nearly as devastating as the 1980 eruption, but they are expecting an ash cloud that could reach a couple thousand feet. The prediction is that the prevailing winds will take the cloud south or southwest of the mountain. I (and disneycrazzzy) live NNW of it - thank goodness. I wouldn't want to get caught in that mess again!
For anyone interested in first-hand stories of the 1980 eruption, corner me sometime. I was in eastern Washington visiting a friend the weekend it erupted and was delayed getting home for several days (sound familiar?) It was a once in a lifetime experience... hopefully.
My friends have been teasing me since I got back from the cruise that I draw natural disasters to myself like a magnet. They claim that they are going to start asking where I'm going on vacation and then they will go somewhere else. (LOL)

We're having a party!!. Mary Rose I know how you feel about leaving for a bit.. What a great crowd we have so far.
Don't worry about this thread lasting for 2 yrs... IT WILL!! :grouphug:
IWILLIAM my son will be 13 1/2 by this next cruise.. He is looking forward to going to THE STACK. My now 15 yr old daughter did go to the STACK on a daily basis and really enjoyed it. She made some great friends and still talks to them today..
Your son will have no problem meeting people. Although she will be 17, she will still like the STACK. She made many friends with 13 yr olds as well. We would walk the deck and hear "Hi JACKIE",:lovestruc ...Mary Rose,, she looked for your daughter often. Jaclyn is very outgoing (she surprises me sometimes):jester: . she did have fun with her at the cast off party!! Maybe next time!!
So we know who has 5 of the SPO cabins.. who is in 5520???
Joanna where are you?
The prices are better since we go to Castaway Cay twice and no port charges!! WHAOO!! On the cruise we will celebrate my moms 70 bday and that THURSDAY the 24 Marty and I wil celebrate 4 yrs pf marriage(if he survives,,lol)
Will we do RADDISON the day before again???

I'm all for going to the Raddison the night before. I learned my lesson this last time. No more 'red-eye' flights to get there. We were so tired that we didn't make it off the boat at Castaway Cay until nearly noon, which really cut down the amount of stuff we got to do. :( The extra day of vacation will be worth it!

I work one day a week, Thursdays, and I couldn't wait to get back to my computer!! :teeth:
We've got a large group already! I'm so happy and excited that so many of us Aug 28th-ers have rebooked! :sunny:
I got a call from Sandra today and we are all booked!! It's official! We got the 10% discount, the $200 onboard credit, and All Seasons also gave a discount. We are in the same cabin that we were in the last time, #6042. We liked that location.
So far, just DH and I are booked. Not sure which, if either, of the 2 boys will be sailing with us. Craig will be starting college that fall, so we have no idea where he will be mid-August of 2006. After the first couple of days on the cruise, he really ended up liking it and enjoying the Stack. I know he'd like to sail again, we'll just have to wait and see which college he goes to. Robby, on the otherhand, never really liked the Stack. He felt out of place there, he said he was one of the youngest ones in there, it was mostly older teens. The first couple of days he said it was "ok", but by the middle of the cruise he ended up just making friends with kids he met at the arcade. I know with kids it's a hit or miss thing, either they'll meet kids to hang out with, or not, and they'll either enjoy the clubs, or not. Like I told Sandra at All Seasons, I still have a VERY long time to add the kids, if they end up going with us. lol
We'll probably stay at the Radisson again. Flying in the day before worked out very well for us.

Don't get worried about the volcano, I'm not. All that is expected is an ash plume and some mudslides. They've already set the evacuation zone to 15 miles around the mountain. I live approximately 100 miles NNW of the mountain. I probably won't even be aware of the eruption until I see it on the news that night. At worst, we might have a minor earthquake, but I doubt it. My family tells me that they felt nothing when it erupted in 1980 and that one was a much much larger blast than we're expecting this time.

He never ceases to surprise me at times. lol So...I'm going to call Sandra at All Seasons back and have her add the boys on right now. At least we can make changes right up until 75 days before the cruise, without penalty. I just hope the new rate doesn't cause me to faint. lol :faint: The prices for 2006 are definitely higher than they were for this year, and even at 2 years in advance!!

I have a question for all of you:
As far as the weekly countdown goes, last time I was posting it each Friday. Should I continue posting it on Fridays or post it on Saturdays?? The reason I was posting it on each Friday was because that was the day that most of us were beginning our vacations, flying into Florida the day before the cruise.
So... Friday countdown or Saturday countdown?? I'll go with the majority vote! :)

I just spoke to Sandra and told her that we definitely want the kids to be directly across from us. I think I'm driving her nuts :o First I was booking just John and I, then I called back to add the kids, then I called back again to ask about a separate cabin for the kids. Yikes. If she can pull this off, I'll have to send her a card or something. lol

Ok, 1 vote for Friday so far :)
Joanna: We booked the RCI cruise through a TA in NJ. It's the same company that my brothers and their wives booked through, and they had the best rate. They deal in large volume of RCI cruises, a lot like how All Seasons deals with high volume of DCL cruises. My brothers and SILs have used that company many times before and never had a problem, so we booked our cabin at the same time, with them.

I'm a little worried right now, until Sandra calls me back :( She was talking quickly before, she was in the middle of doing several bookings, plus the changes I keep making to mine, and I *think* she said that if I make a change to the cabin (such as adding the kids, and now taking them off again to put into their own cabin), that we'd lose that 10% discount. Probably the $200 credit too. I really wish I would've just thought to book 2 cabins in the first place! I can blame John. lol He's the one who told me at first to just book the 2 of us, then this afternoon he said to add the kids, then when he got home he said to ask about a separate cabin for them. *sigh* Oh well. All I can do now is wait for Sandra to call me back with the details :(

Terry,
I would be persistant but nice. Is this TA booking alot of our group. I would mention Donna who was booking our cruise on the ship. She was working late, late late and we were told about the 10% discount and the $200.00 credit. She couldn't handle all the requests for the rebookings but I would use her name. Let them know that we are giving them alot of repeat business and probably more after this next adventure. You would think they would want to make us all happy and use their services exclusively!!!. Just a thought!!!:)
Ok everyone I am booked cabin 6080.
Here is my long story. DCL emailed me back and said I would not be able to get the discount or shipboard credit.
However; thanks to Ginny's posting I sent in my request to Kelsie at Dreamsunlimited travel and I got both the discount and my shipboard credit.
I think I got a great rate compared to what is listed on the DCL website. DU quoted me $3,095.56 less my DU instant rebate of $100 bringing my total due to $2,995.56 for a category 6 for two people.
Now I am waiting for a quote for my friends.
I am soooo excited to be able to see everyone again.
Now on another note: Travel Insurance, Access America is great I just received a check for $632.00 for our extra days after the cruise and my expenses on the ship after 9/4. They paid for everything that I charged on my ship account after 9/4, I did not bill them for souvineers, and they also paid for everything that we purchased when we got back to Disney. I submitted my bill for park tickets with the thought that they would tell me no way, but they paid everything. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO TERRY, I think you suggested this company. I am using them again on my upcoming cruises.

I never heard of anyone getting an onboard credit through a TA. I thought that could only be done through DCL while onboard a cruise.

There are special circumstances for this because we were on the 8/28 cruise that had to be extended to 10 nights because of the hurricane. Since the cruise rebooking desk was not open to make reservations on the last nights of the cruise people called the cruiseline immediately when we got home and they allowed it.
When you are on board you get the discount and shipboard credit and they allow you to use your travel agent. As a matter of fact they ask you, "I see you used Dreams Unlimited Travel will you be using them again" and they assign the reservation to them.
Hope this clears it up.

I know what you mean! We're sailing on a 9-night cruise next summer, Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas, which is one of the largest ships out there right now. I think only the new QM2 is bigger. And all I can think about is the Magic in 2 years. LOL
It really was very convenient to stay at the Radisson the night before the cruise. I had read a lot of not-so-great reviews about it, but we found the entire resort to be very nice! The front desk staff were great, they seemed very eager to answer any questions we might have, and to help in any way they could. Our room (we had a 2 king beds suite) was in excellent condition, and we enjoyed the jacuzzi tub very much. It was very relaxing, especially since it rained that evening and we couldn't really enjoy the pool.

Doreen - what a great idea.. battery operated smoothie makers... I will have to look for one of those... I have a feeling we would need to pack lots of spare batteries.
Terry - 98 weeks - WAAAHHHH.. It seems like such a long time. Why do I feel more excited about the 2006 cruise than I am about the repo cruise next august.
Iwilliam - Not only does our group sound GREAT - IT IS GREAT. Welcome to it!!!! We started out at the Radisson on Friday 8/27 as strangers and by the sailaway party on 8/28 we were Friends and at the end of our magical 10 day journey we were like extended family.

LYN!! I almost just choked on my coffee!! I saw the picture of myself, with my leg hanging over the edge of the adult pool, on the web site Bobby made for the Aug 28th pictures. LOL!!! I had no idea anyone was taking pictures!! I thought I escaped that whole thing without any physical proof, other than my GOLD MEDAL!!!!!!!!! :p

Lucy - I have to agree with what Ginny wrote. This is such an awesome group of people. Very casual and relaxed. One day onboard Doreen & I happen to run into each other at Topsiders and talked about an impromptu DIS Smoothie meet the next day at the adult pool. We said we'd spread the message by word of mouth. Well the next afternoon there must have been twenty five of us or maybe even more at the pool. That's really how the whole week (I mean 10 days) was. A friendly, familiar face wherever I went. And most importantly I have to tell you that it was very comforting knowing I had a lot of friends onboard when we didn't know what was going to happen next! So welcome to you and would you like me to add your "real" names to the list. Just let me know if you do!

Our action is simple it consists of lifting hand to mouth with alcoholic drink in it. Although Lyn, I must say I was quite wiped out when you and your husband saw me in the restaurant in Riverside. Hadn't eaten and drank about 3 glasses of Bailey's Whew!

Boy Doreen, I can empathize. I spent the entire weekend after we got back from the cruise harvesting my walnuts and getting chewed out by the local wildlife (squirrels and birds). Had a killer crop this year. The nuts are drying at the moment, but will be ready by the holiday baking season.
I'm not doing anything with my apples this year. The trees were neglected so badly by the previous tennents that the crops have been rather poor the last couple of years. I keep debating about calling in a professional to try and prune them back to the point that they would be productive again, but they are old enough (40+ years) that I don't know whether I would be better off to just take them out and replace them with new trees.
I'm also not doing anything with my blackberries this year either. I still have about a dozen jars of jelly and 14 bottles of wine from last year's crop. Hey, maybe I should bring a couple of bottles of my homemade blackberry/raspberry wine on the next cruise. Hmmm, my only dilemma is how to transport it cross-country.

Karen talked to him directly about LINKING us together, he said he was familier with the DIS boards and some of us who have made reservations... he said he would need a list of who wants to be linked, and when the time gets closer to call him with that same link of the people who want to do the sxursions together..
I elect KAREN to make these arrangements:crazy: . I made all the last cruise for her.. she can do it this time.

YAY! Finally got the info on our reservations. We are now booked into cabins 6042 (cat. 6) and 6043 (cat 11)!!! :sunny: We did get the 10%/$200 deal for the first cabin, but not the second cabin, but All Seasons gave us additional discounts (compared to what's listed on their site), so I am satisfied with this :) If we would've booked all 4 of us in ONE cabin (cat 6) through DCL (without the 10%/$200), it would've cost us an extra $250! LOL So we've saved money AND the kids get their own cabin :teeth: Even using the discounted prices on All Season's web site, it would've cost us another $185 to have us all in one cabin. So...that discount really helped a lot in bringing the prices down. Not to mention the $200 shipboard discount :)

There could be more steam releases... or not.
Seismology, like weather forecasting, is not an 'exact' science. They weren't expecting the 1980 eruption to be as violent as it ended up being. (I'll have to tell you guys all about that experience over drinks one day.)
Please do come see me. Washington is very pretty and very green. The Puget Sound area has water, mountains and trees everywhere. I love it! If I want to play at the beach all I have to do is go a couple of miles in any direction. (Note - the beaches here are NOTHING like the ones in the caribbean.) If I want to ski, I only need to drive a couple of hours. (I LOVE the ski resort Crystal Mountain, located at Mount Rainier.) If I want to go for a walk or camping in the woods, I can take my pick. We tend to have out best weather from mid-July to mid-September. And yes, the stories about the rainfall the rest of the year are true, but at least we don't have to deal with snow very often. When we do get snow, it generally doesn't stick around for long (Thank goodness). Most people don't realize that we have hills around here that are comparable to San Fransico. (The Puget Sound was carved out by a massive glacier during the last ice age. If fact, the peninsula I live on is the pile of sand and rubble left behind when the glacier receded.)

Hi Everyone:
I spent the day in the ER with Matt he has a kidney stone again. This is the third time for the poor kid. He had his first one when he was 12.
I have had them 4 times so I know how much pain he is in. Hopefully it will pass on it's own, the first one he had did and the second one he had to have Lithotripsy. The doctor said that this one is pretty big and if it had been 1 mm bigger he would have had to stay in the hospital.
Well the good news of the day is that my friend Mary Ann, her husband Rob, their son Robby and their daughter Emily will be joining us on the cruise.
I had to change my cabin to 6070 so I could be next to her's in 6068.
It will be so much fun to see Emily with the characters she will be 1 in November so she will be almost 3 when we go on the cruise.
Robby will be 15 so he can go to stacks.
Does anyone know anything about the child care program for the 2 year olds? I am not familiar with this program so I can't tell Mary Ann anything about it.
Talk to you soon,
Lyn

Ginny:
I wanted to thank you for posting about Kelsie at DU. She was able to secure me a cabin with the 10% and Shipboard credit after Disney had said no.
It seems like DU rates are already cheaper than what Disney has listed on their website, they must be buying rooms in bulk like All Seasons and maybe that is why they are saying they are almost sold out because all these agencies have the rooms.
Thanks again,
Lyn:sunny:

After hearing that the cruise is filling up, I would've added our kids on too, if we didn't decide to already get them their own cabin. DCL limits the number of kids in each age group, we wouldn't want them to fill up on us!

It's hard to believe this cruise would be sold out nearly two years in advance but usually prices don't drop til the last week in Aug. and this cruise the 3rd week of August is actually a few $ less than the last week in Aug. - go figure. I just had to post this here. ENJOY!
There will be no nursing home in my future.........
When I get old and feeble, I am going to get on a Princess Cruise
Ship. The average cost for a nursing home is $200 per day. I have checked
on reservations at Princess and I can get a long term discount and
senior discount price of $135 per day. That leaves $65 a day for:
1. Gratuities which will only be $10 per day.
2. I will have as many as 10 meals a day if I can waddle to the
restaurant, or I can have room service ( which means I can have
breakfast in bed every day of the week).
3. Princess has as many as three swimming pools, a workout room,
free washers and dryers, and shows every night.
4. They have free toothpaste and razors, and free soap and shampoo.
5. They will even treat you like a customer, not a patient. An
extra $5 worth of tips will have the entire staff scrambling to help you.
6. I will get to meet new people every 7or 14 days.
7. T.V. broken? Light bulb need changing? Need to have the mattress
replaced? No problem! They will fix everything and apologize for
your inconvenience.
8. Clean sheets and towels every day, and you don't even have to ask
for them.
9. If you fall in the nursing home and break a hip you are on
Medicare. If you fall and break a hip on the Princess ship
they will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.
Now hold on for the best! Do you want to see South America, the
Panama Canal, Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, or name where you want
to go? Princess will have a ship ready to go. So don't look for me in a
nursing home, just call shore to ship.
P.S. And don't forget, when you die, they just dump you over the side at no charge

Every 19th of the month we could raise our glasses to celebrate and countdown to what is going to be a great time for all.

Welcome to castoff & florida sun & families! I've added you guys to the list.
Tina - Congrats on your upcoming wedding! So I guess in Nov. you'll have a family wedding & honeymoon and then on our 8/19/06 you'll have a solo honeymoon. Well me & my DH highly recommend the Surial Bath! Right guys? :smooth:
Sue - I added you to the list and if you decide not to change then I remove you but I really think you should change. First off, a 7 day cruise is awesome. Secondly, we have a fantastic group of DISers that I feel like I know for years instead of months and you are guaranteed a good time ::yes:: Lastly, I will be 45 when we cruise and my DD will be 16 - instantly something in common!
Jeff - Okay on the 19th of every month we will toast to our cruise. Is it the 19th yet? No you say, well I'll be toasting our cruise tonight anyway LOL!

Thank you so much for the welcome, we have definatley decided to change to this cruise I am just waiting for DCL to come back and confirm our room to me. It will probably be tomorrow. So keep us on your list unless you hear otherwise. We are so excited and as soon as I have confirmation I will change my countdown timer.
We will be celebrating my daughters 16th birthday as it is on the 17th August 2 days before we leave.. What a way to celebrate.
Thanks once again and really look forward to chatting to you all over the coming months.
Cheers
Sue and Vicki. :wave2:

Welcome to Sue (florida sun)!!! :sunny: I hope DCL can get your changes made, so you can sail with us! Last year when I was looking at cruises for this year (2004), I originally was going to book a 4-night cruise. But 2 things made me change to the 7-night. #1: DH and I had just taken a 7-night cruise to Bermuda and I knew that 4 nights on a cruise would fly by too quickly. You are just getting to feel comfortable on the ship at that point, and I would hate to have to get off after only 4 nights! #2: When I checked prices, I saw that we could do a 7-night cruise later in August for only a bit more money than the 4-night we were planning for early July. I figured, we have to pay the same airfare whether we cruise for 4 nights or 7 nights, and still pay the same pre-cruise hotel, transportation, etc. So why not make it worth our while and do the 7-night cruise?! When DH and I talked about it, we quickly changed our minds and booked that 7-night cruise for this past Aug. 28th (which turned into the 10-night cruise :teeth:). So there you have it, Sue, you must cruise with us! ::yes:: :p :teeth: :sunny: I'll be 45 when we cruise (I hate that number!), and I have sons who will be 18 and 15 when we cruise.
Hey Doreen: Jackly kind of spilled the beans to Craig about the new cruise! LOL Last night he said to me "Oh, so we're going on another Disney cruise??" Apparently they talk on IM, and she told him that he'd be in her old cabin. LOL I told Craig not to tell John that he knows about it yet, and not to tell Robby! John is big on trying to surprise the kids and I know he'd be disappointed if he knew that Craig found out already. Personally, I was planning on telling Craig soon, anyway. lol He's very good at keeping a surprise. ::yes:: By the way, do you happen to know how many people cabin 6043 sleeps? If it sleeps 4, there's a slim possibility of letting the boys each bring a friend. This cruise is so far away that I would not even bring up the subject until 2006. You never know who they might or might not still be friends with, 2 years from now. I don't think it's likely that we'd bring their friends, but it is something that John and I had talked about at one time.
Well, I am starting to ramble here. lol We're heading to the Cranberry Festival in a little while, then going to Plymouth for dinner. Hey, if any of you ever want to visit Boston, I'd love to be your tour guide! I love Boston, Plymouth, and Cape Cod :sunny: I live only a half hour from Boston and Plymouth (each in opposite directions) and an hour from Cape Cod.

Oops, almost forgot!
Did any of you get your "Shoreside Survival Kit" in the mail today? It included our new Castaway Club cards and a CD that I haven't tried out yet. It said it has pictures and music on it that would remind us of our Disney cruise! But now it's officialy, we are ALL Castaway Club members now! :) (Craig was already a CC member because he was on the Wonder in 2000).
Terry:
Sorry your surprise got out, but I think somehow that always happens, someone doesn't know it's a surprise and then they mention it.
Maybe when you tell your Robby, he and my friends Robby can IM each other since they will be in the same group in Stacks.
Matt is feeling better today the antibotics and pain meds must be working, but there has been no sign of the kidney stone. I prayed last night that he would pass the stone on his own so he didn't have to go through the lithotripsy again. It really beat him up the last time.
I never passed my stones any of my stones I always had to have surgery because the doctor said I am not able to have lithotripsy for some reason.
Have a great time at the Cranberry Festival.
If anyone is interested I saw Ladder 49 last night of course, since Bob is a Volunteer Firefighter we had to go. The movie was VERY sad, there were points that I got upset and wanted to leave the theatre. It really scares me to think about the things than can happen it really hits home. Bob said the movie was great.
Have a great weekend,

Okay, fingers crossed we will be joining you. I got an e-mail from Allseas today saying that they have 2 category 11's on hold for us. But it's Saturday so they aren't open for me to call and find out the price. Really frustrating but you can bet I will be on the phone on Monday afternoon (our time) to speak to them. Assuming the cost isn't too horrendous, we will be booking on Monday and can then say we will be joining you.
It would be our 6th DCL cruise (number 4 is in 4 weeks and number 5 is the August repositioning next year). There would be me, my DH, my DD who will be 18 when we sail and my 2 DS's who will be 16.
Watch this space for more news on Monday but this looks like a fun group already so I really hope we will be joining you.

I'm a newbie also to this group - but they sound fantastic!
I am NOT new to DCL - my family loves this cruise line - we are sailing next summer, in July, from California for 7 days but this
group has made me so anxious for Aug. 2006!
Buddy Bear: your daughter is SO CUTE! I never got to spoil a
little girl (have 2 boys, ages 12 and 18) so if you would allow me to play with her on the cruise I would appreciate it - I LOVE little girls......Lucy

It sounds like we must really be neighbors, I live on the South Shore too. You are definately right Boston is a great city, I love it.
I am heading in town tomorrow to have tea at the Ritz with my daughter and my mother. The High Tea there is very good but they do not have the incredible eclairs that Palo tea does.
BTW I don't really like Baileys all that much (although my sons name is BAILEY) is that drink mandatory or may we substitute?

Jeff: I think it's for new CC members only because they came in my DS13's name, and DH's and my name, not DS16 because he already was a CC member. I played the CD on my computer. It has a few shorts "songs". The first one is the horn from the ship, the last one is sound effects of the ocean and seagulls, then there are 7 others that are 2-3 minutes long and are different "Caribbean" type songs. No words, just the music. But it sounds really nice; DH and I were out all day today and we had it playing over and over again in the truck :teeth: The "Survival Kit" also included our CC cards (again, just the 3 of us got them, since we are new members) and a survey to fill out and mail back in to DCL.

Lynr, I am glad Matt is doing well. Thanks for letting us know about the movie. Doreen's and my father was a firefighter for over 30 yrs before he retired.
Terry,
I will make sure Doreen knows about the secret and lets Jaclyn know. Doreen was sick on Friday and yesterday. She has been doing alot of running since our return being SUPERMOM. I thinks she needs another vacation just fir her!!! Maybe a girl's get together in NYC.
What is the Shoreside Survival Kit. I haven't received anything yet. Is there anyone I can call?
Joanna,
I am all for the "cruise ship" nursing home!!! I laughed at it so hard I almost needed my "depends"lol.
I am going to Busch Garden's today with friends for the "Hollowscream" I went last week and it was sooooo crowded we didnt get to see everything. I live 5 minutes from there. They have great rides there. I am still partial to WDW and ti wil alway be my favorite!!
I did do a Bailey's toast to everyone Friday nite and it was soooo good that I had "two". Maybe I should just use a staw abd forget the glass!!

Terry - Stan is still in the hospital. Or "hosipital" as all Sandy's classmates wrote in their get well cards to her dad. The surgeon was in yesterday and said MAYBE he can come home Monday. We'll see. He's doing pretty good considering. His temp is down and so is the white blood cell count so whatever was going on with infection is resolving. He has some nasty raw areas on his back from the tape they used. Anyone have any suggestions for that? They gave him some cream but he is very sore. The hardest thing for him to do right now is to get back into bed. Getting out is easier. I tried to teach him the "lean, tuck and roll" but he tends to want to go straight back. Ouch!
Joanna - I loved the floating nursing home and plan on placing my name on the waiting list very soon.
Lyn - hope Matt continues to feel better.
Doreen - hope you feel better too.
Jeff - I don't have any Bailey's but I will toast in spirit to the Friday Night Countdown. (Actually, I'm not sure what Bailey's even is.)
Well, I'm getting a late start today so I better get moving. Just couldn't lift my head this morning. Everyone have a wonderful day!
Bobby & Cindy did you get booked?
Darlene
Darlene:
I am glad Stan is doing so well. He just had major surgery and to come home so soon seems like he must be doing very well. That is great.
Stan must be allergic to that tape I have reactions like that to the tape and bandaids, I use only cloth tape. Unfortunately I don't have any answers for a quick cure I wish I did I know it is very painful.
Matt is feeling ok for now still no sign of the stone.
Karen:
Have a great time in Bush Gardens, hope it's not too crowded today. Tell Doreen I hope she feels better soon.

Thank you for all the get well wishes. I too had a bit of a physical set back. And my kids were very scared. Marty of course was oblivious. I was having symtoms like a stoke with slured speach and bizzare behavior.. while apple picking I tell ya, turning 40 did me in. No more facial droop and speech is better.
Joanna , I may be on that nursing home list sooner than planned..
A very big welcome to all the new comers.
Sue your gonna love it..
Who is celebrating their honeymoon while on board??:cloud9: :groom: :bride: You may want to share the SEREAL Shower with Mary Rose and John,,, rumor has it they were looking for that 3rd person to fill the seat in there,,lol TRUST ME I AM ONLY KIDDING>. if you look at the info about that spa treatment it does include 3 people... Mary Rose and I were trying to think who would have 3 people in there.. And of course the secret cameras that may be there too.. I do love the x rated towel animals though...
Lyn.. so glad to hear MATT is better,, Kidney stones are GODS way of getting men back for us having menstrul cramps and babies..Tell him Jaclyn sends best wishes...
Speaking of JACLYN.... Terry she does apologize so much,. I never new it was a secret.. It was great talking to you on the phone this afternoon too.. Have to do it more often.
DARLENE.. it sounds bad but I use UDDER BALM>. Its Dr's Naylors brand that comes in a square tin in cream and red.. I use it on rashes, cuts, burns... It is not a sterial cream so be careful since I do not know how open STAN's tape burns are... It has lanolin in it..When I was in Nursing school my hands were raw from washing... This healed them over night.. I still use it today for chapped hands and other things.. If you need some, I can mail yo some. You find it in true farm stores not the kind from WALMART though.
ok getting winded.. Welcome to all I missed :grouphug: and I will talk soon..

Sue: I'm glad it's official now! :sunny:
Darlene: I'm glad Stan is doing well :) Sorry to hear about the sores on his back :( :( As for Bailey's, its full name is "Bailey's Irish Cream", and its a cordial. It's a creamy type of drink, think of the consistency of thick chocolate milk :teeth: I like to pour it over ice. It's used in a lot of frozen drinks, kind of similar to Kahlua, but not exactly. lol Tell you what, on our next cruise, John and I will treat you and Stan to a glass of Bailey's!! :)
Doreen: PLEASE tell Jaclyn not to apologise!! It wasn't her fault at all; I should've told you all that we haven't told the kids yet. But I think they kind of know that we have something in the works because I don't have a low voice, so I'm sure they've heard bits of pieces of my planning conversations. lol Also, I can't keep a secret, I know I would've told Craig very soon, anyway :)

Doreen - As a matter of fact there was an outlet in there! You are too funny LOL! Seriously though, are you taking aspirin until you can see the doctor? Real aspirin that is. Also I have a suggestion for your migraines. It has been a godsend to me and maybe can help you too. There is a strong family history of migraines in my family. My Mom & both sisters suffered but not me, that is, until I turned 30 then I was getting migraines about every 10 days. We get the migraines that also include the visual aura and they were really disturbing. Anyway, after "all" the tests were they determined it was just late onset migraines the neurologist put me on a really strong medicine that made me wish I was dead rather then live like that. My DD was about 18 months old at the time and I was a mess. So I did some research and found a Univ of Wisconsin (I think) study about migraine, woman, and magnesium. The study gave women 250 milligrams of magnesium a day and it helped about 70% of the women who participated. I asked my neurologist who just laughed it off. I decided I had nothing to lose. Well that was 1991 and in the past 13 years I have only had ONE migraine and that was in 1995! Sorry this is so long but magnesium changed my life! Feel better really soon friend!

Well, Mount St. Helens threw another 'temper tantrum' on Saturday afternoon, almost exactly 24 hours after it's 'tantrum' on Friday. Unlike Friday when the seismic activity dropped off for a couple of hours, it immediately increased and changed. The scientists believe that the change in the type of quake signifies the movement of magma toward the surface. They think that an eruption is imminent and the evacuation zone has been expanded. This next eruption is expected to fall somewhere between the 1980 eruption and the one on Friday. (After living through the fall-out of the 1980 eruption, I just cannot understand all of these idiotic people that spent the weekend traveling down to try and see if they could watch the mountain erupt in person. I'll wait and watch it on the news, thank you very much!)

Have smoothie maker will travel. I have to get me one of those, it was great. Did you see the pictures of Doreen looking for an outlet?

I saw your pictures - it looks like you had an awesome time. I must admit, I didn't think of packing the smoothie maker for our last cruise - but the picture of anyone looking for outlets makes me LOL! Me thinks that my family will get along fine with this group!
Now, as someone earlier said ... if only we had battery backup!
P.S. Did anyone map out where the outlets are? Maybe we should provide this info for anyone else in this predicament.

LUCY..... IT"S A GO!!!!
I just got done booking reservations! Devin and I will be in Anaheim on July 23 - 30. (I'll try to keep us from getting worn out before you guys get there. Fortunately, there are a few other things that I want to do down there besides Disneyland.)
Now we need to get Devin and Tyler conversing before this summer. Just out of curiosity, is Tyler in 6th or 7th grade this year?
I haven't been to Disneyland in 6 years (they were still constructing the California Adventures park at the time).
I can't wait!!!!!!

Denise - You know I actually saw a blender that ran on batteries for campers but I didn't have enough time before our cruise to order it. Well I have two years now. I think I'll look into it. Anyway, Doreen never did find an outlet but instead went to the closest DIS room. but it sure was funny watching here running around looking for one! You know what the funniest thing is, most of the group doesn't even really drink (I can't included myself in that - I do drink LOL) but mostly everyone joined in for a smoothie or two. Well I know Marty and Karen enjoyed a few Jack Daniels & Wild Turkeys along the week - right Karen LOL while I really, really loved the BBC (Baileys Banana Colada)

Hi All!!
We are also booked on this cruise in a cat 4-8040 but are anxiously waiting for the cat 1,2, and 3's to open up for this cruise. I know some dates are opened for the suites but DU told me that this one isn't opened yet. I faxed inventory control a long time ago and am waiting to hear from DU on that. Depending on what we get, my sister and her 2 DD's might join us.For now at least, it is DH (Tim-48, Myself/Laura-39 and DD- Courtney who will be just shy of 16.
Looking forward to the cruise and meeting you all!!!

Joanna & Ginny -
It's Terry that's reporting the sell out. I just checked DCL and the 8/19/06 isn't coming up, not even when I put just two adults. Maybe they're trying to fix it (remember it comes up under eastern itinerary) I can't believe it would be totally sold out
already YIKES!
Joanna - Did you tell me how labor intensive the "LIST" was LOL!
Terry -
"You know you had a great Disney Cruise when 36 people who originally were strangers from a message board became GOOD friends during the cruise and ALL have already booked to cruise together again in 2006 HELLO TO ALL OF MY FELLOW AUGUST 28th CRUISERS!!"
I don't know how to quotes anyone so I just copied this from you other thread. Thanks for posting this - I couldn't agree more!!
sugarplumsmom - Laura and family Welcome to our group! I added your family to our list and if you're suite comes through let me know and I'll add you sisters info too! Good luck with that!

Mary Rose,
I'm starting to look into your suggestion of t-shirts for the "Lost @ Sea Club". I have silk-screening experience. I am currently looking into how much it would cost (t-shirts, ink, etc.) and designs for the shirt that would work for both the Hurricane Frances survivors and the 'new recruits'. I'll let you guys know what I find out.

I can't believe we are on page 15 already!!!! How many more weeks!!!! :Pinkbounc
Mary Rose:
Can you add my friends to the cruise list?

Ok, my mistake! I just assumed, incorrectly, that the cruise was filled, because of the wording on the DCL site when I was checking it before! LOL
Mary Rose: When I saw the thread titled "You know it was a great Disney Cruise when...", I HAD to go and post about OUR cruise!!! :sunny: I'm glad you saw it and posted it here :)
Sandy and Lyn: How are Stan and Matt doing today??? I hope they are both seeing some improvement. Did Stan get to come home today? Did Matt pass the stone yet??

I know its a stupid question BUT... Ginny or Doreen, Do you put ice in the smoothie makers? and it comes out thick? like a pina colada, like the berry ones we had on the cruise. So you use it the same as a blender? but it makes it thicker?
Did I say stupid question? I meant stupid questions.
TIA

Terry - Do you know how to quote a post? That really was nice of you to post about us over there!
Darlene & Lyn - Ditto about Stan & Matt - how are they?
Lyn - I added your friend under your name and guess what - they brought us to over 100 people!
Dori - That would be great about the Tee Shirts! Lets us know what your able to find out and thanks!
Karen - You must bring you smoothie maker! and hmm lets see how many weeks is 683 days..... 683/7 equals 9 carry the 5. 97 weeks! Holy, that's a loooong time!

Joanna - Yes you add ice to make the drink thick. A smoothie maker is just a small, glorified blender. In fact it is a blender only is has a spout to dispense the smoothie. I like the berry one too and I also liked the Amaretto mudslide. It was the first time I had either of those and they were delish!

Okay - I must have had too much coffee today, but I have an idea:
Let's guess how many pages of posts we'll have by the time we cruise. I was looking over at the Joanna's original 8/28 thread in just over a year (about 15 months) we reached 200 pages. Well now we all know each better and there are alot of newcomers (HI newcomers) so I going to guess 550 pages. Take a guess and we'll see you comes the closest.

Hi Jeff :wave2:
I'm sorry, it must seem like we are excluding all of you from our conversations. The thing is, we just got back from our cruise just a few weeks ago. We all shared a very unique situation together (being onboard for 10 nights and at times not knowing exactly what was going on) and we are still really excited about the fun we had on that cruise, PLUS now knowing that so many of us will be cruising together again! :) Believe me, we were all strangers at first, even when Joanna (mjasp) started the 2004 cruise thread over a year in advance. Please bear with us, as we get to know all of you who we didn't get to meet yet, as we share our excitement over our upcoming cruise :)
It's funny, but immediately before I saw your post, I was thinking that I should change the wording in my signature from "8/28/04 Reunion cruise" to "8/28/04 reunion cruise AND our new DIS friends" :)
As time goes by and we all get to know each other, I'm sure talk will change from being mostly about our "old" cruise, to talk about the "new" cruise :)
Mary Rose: Hmm..I think 550 is a bit high... Let's see... my guess will be 475 pages :)

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I am with you on the excitment part since ours was the cruise right before yours. It sometimes still seems like yesterday.
Since I posted the thread about the low rate on the Special 8/19 cruise I was surprised that it turned out to be a 8/28 reunion cruise.
I guess what I am saying is that "Official Cruise Meet" threads are started all the time so I didn't expect the 8/28 cruise to take ownership of this thread.
Sorry again for bringing up the subject.

Jeff - Sorry if you feel excluded. I would just like to say that we didn't take ownership of this thread, we started it over on our 8/28 thread. We knew a few days before that this is the cruise some of us wanted to take as a reunion cruise. We thought maybe we'd take an Eastern, but the two stops at Castaway Cay intrigue some of us. Now having said that we are excited to meet EVERYONE who is going on 8/19/06. Okay, maybe I'm not explaining myself well but we were all so excited to meet such great people while planning our other cruise that we know we will ALL become great friends on this cruise too. Just ask Dori, (ElliotFan) I think she joined our 8/28 thread about a week or two before we cruised and now she's like family.
I think I can speak for all the 8/28/04 cruisers when I say WELCOME EVERYONE!

Hello Everyone!
I booked our August 19 '06 cruise this evening with All Seasons Travel. We are in a category 10 in stateroom 2601 on deck 2. I hesitate to book anything that is not on Deck 1 or 2 due to seasickness. I'm looking forward to two days at CC.
It will be me who will be (gulp) 39 then and my dd Victoria Rose who will be 9.
We plan on sailing with the Ship of Fools Panama Canal August 2005, I'm not sure if we have any folks cruising both with us.
Please add us to your lists. I look forward to chatting with all of you for the next couple of years!
TTFN!

Yes I was thinking Mary Rose is a form of our names! You would definitely fit in our family - everyone has either Rose, Mary or Marie in their names! Stick 'bella' in front of all of those names, a little manicotti, a whole lot of hugging and you're one of us!
I've never had a smoothie to be honest, but I HAVE had a McDonald's milk shake (I'm wild 'eh?)

Mary Rose -
I can totally relate to the two names situation - it's always best to have two names so your mother can have more substance when yelling at you!
Giny - it's great we'll all know each other after that 2 weeks on the ship, imagine the same number of stops for a 2 week cruise as our one week one1

Good Morning Everyone!!!
I just wanted to let you know that Doreen was admitted last evening to the hospital. She was complaining of a migraine for the past week and I finally convinced her to go. Marty took her. I haven't talked to her yet this am but I talked to her nurse who said that she did sleep good last night. I know that is what she needed. My mom is taking care of Jaclyn and Daniel, so I know that they are okay. Marty didn't get home until after 12:30am so I am sure he is sleeping now. My other sister is helping out too if needed. Jaclyn has practice tonite and Daniel has Boy Scouts so Grandma and Aunt Lainie will be taking care of them. I will keep you posted.
I hope Everyone has a "Magical" day.:wave2:

Mary Rose: I would love to add my boys' names
definitely Tyler will be with us (he will be 14 at the time of

Mary Rose,
Thanks for your concern. I haven't heard anything this am but I know they are testing her Carotid artery. This is scaring me. It is times like this that I wish I were back home. The hospital she is in is the one I worked at before moving down here and I could go to the floor and check her status. At least she put my name down that it was ok to give info to so I am calling every hour and I know I am being a nusience but she is my sister. She is the one we all call upon when we need help and she is always there for us. Now it is our turn to be there for her. My mom is on the way up to the hospital now so hopefully soon I can get an update.
By the way I am an early morning DIS BOARD junkie. I can't wait to sign on and see all the new postings!!!!:wave2:
