My whole family is going. We have three cabins on deck 6. It's my parents, me and my DH and my sister, her DH, her DS (will be 9 at cruisetime), her DD (will be 6 at cruise time). We can't wait. It will be the first cruise ever for my sister's family. My parents have been on several other cruiselines but not disney. And it will be mine and DH's second disney cruise of course our first one isn't until Sept of 2005.

We just booked this cruise too. It is going to be myself, DH, DFIL, DS (10 at the time) and DD (7 at the time). Sounds like the kids will already have some play mates!

michpoit, it looks like you are in the same boat as me. We are doing a WDW trip in July 05 as well, but we are going to the WL. We just came off the Magic in August, and we swore that it would be a while before the next cruise. But who could resist two trips to CC?

I just looked at our schedule and we are going to postpone our Disney trip to August instead. My husband works shift work and we really have to plan everything around his schedule. What are the chances of Florida having another August like this past one, right!

How many Disney Cruises have you all done? This will be our 3rd. We went on the Eastern on 10/01 and the Western on 7/03.

The 2006 cruise will be our 4th. The 1st was the 7-night Eastern in 7/2001 for our honeymoon. The 2nd was the 4-night on the Wonder in 8/2002, and the 3rd was the 7-night Western this past July. We can't wait until 2006!

It's really funny. A TON of people are going on the 8/19 double CC cruise, and quite a few are on the June special cruise. Yet, the July 22nd cruise seems rather quiet so far. I wonder why?

We booked the 07/22/06 "Double Dip" last week while on board! We were able to get connecting SPH (Secret Porthole Rooms) ! We are hoping to get some family members or friends to join us. As of now it is Me, DH, DS12, DS9 and DD9. The kids ages are the age they will be when we cruise!

Hi Everyone,
I am glad to have found this, I thought we would have the ship to ourselves...LOL
We will be traveling with me, DH, DS (16 at time of cruise) and DS (9). Plus 2 other sets of friends.(both with no children)

DH thought I was nuts booking a cruise 2 yrs out but when he heard we go to CC 2 times, he said go for it!!
It will be our 3rd Disney cruise, we went last May, are going next June with friends, then the 7 day double dip.
I am looking forward to keeping in touch with all of you!!!!

Well take my family off the list. We had to move our cruise to the Oct. 7th cruise. My sister is having a bone marrow transplant this year so our schedule is getting all moved around. She and her DH were suppose to go on an Alaska cruise in July 2005 but it's moved until June 2006 so our disney cruise had to move too. She is not allowed to fly again until March of 2006. At least we can drive to our WDW trip in December to celebrate the end of treatments.

I hope yall have fun. I wish we could have done a double dip of castaway cay cruise but my niece and nephew only have the Oct 7th week off in the fall of 2006. Oh well maybe I can talk my DH into going on one.

Hi All,
We've been booked since October, glad to see there's finally some other people excited about going. This will be our 3rd Magic cruise. Four of us going, myself, DH, DS (he'll be 13 by the time we cruise) and DD (she'll be 12 by the time we cruise). We'll be in 2608 same cabin we had last cruise and loved it! We plan on spending time in the "Rainforest" we loved the spa the last trip and can't wait to book the couples massages again....talk about relaxation! We plan on staying at Old Key West prior to cruise and the night before the cruise at the Radisson at the port, makes it really easy to get to the ship early that way. Let's keep in touch.

We were originally booked for November 19th, 2005 (also a double-dip CC) but had to cancel as DH's work plans changed and he can't get that time away. (I'm not too unhappy, as I prefer to cruise spring break or summer. :)

BTW, when we last sailed (May 2004) we had a DISboards cruise meet at the front(?) of deck 7. I think it's called the 'secret deck' as not many people realize it's there. It was a perfect location, and we all took a 'cruise meets' picture!

Yes, it is a large group. When we cruised in 2001 there were 13 of us but since then there have been new babies and marriages so that is how we get to 18!! My son who will be 3 weeks shy of turning 10 is so excited to be in the Lab this time and not in the club. He is already talking about making Flubber and doing all the fun stuff in there:)

I think it may be that the one in May is the last one of the true savings before the summer prices kick in, and school is out. I noticed the double CC in August is popular too, and the price is cheaper.

Plus I bet its going to be really HOT when we cruise.

Down here in NC school gets out this year May 24. Of course they started August 5th....(yuck)

Thankfully this is the last year for that, next year a new law goes into effect and school will start and end later.

I grew up in NJ and I never started school till after Labor day.

Same here in Illinois too. This year my son will have his last day of school on June 10th and will start school again on August 22nd. That makes the cheaper May cruises and August cruises not an option for us I wish they were but for now we will still be cruising in the summer months. Oh well as long as I am cruising that is OK for me:)

Hi all,

Well we are back to reality after our 4 day wonder cruise and 5 days at WDW. It was so fantastic!! Our first time with a verandah room, so as soon as we got home, we changed from deck 2 to deck 6 w/verandah for next summers cruise.

Tried to hold a DIS meet, but mother nature had other ideas. It POURED about 10 minutes into the sail away party. Thankfully that was the only rain the entire cruise. We had 2 unexpected stops in Freeport with medical emergencies, one after CC and one during our day at sea. Have no details on what happened.


Our group of 12 is still a group of 12. Trying to convince DD and her boyfriend to come with us as well.

I just found out I'm being offered a teaching contract for next school year. So I will have a full time salary and benefits, instead of per diem substitute teacher pay. Now it looks like I really will be joining you on the ship since I will be making a salary that will allow mw to pay for it! :Pinkbounc

secondly, question for everyone: what are you looking forward to the most on this cruise? and why did you pick this one as opposed to one that stops at more ports?

Mine was mainly a time issue. We had only two possible weeks to do it. In terms of ports, we kind of feel that anywhere in the Caribbean is good and there is much fun to be had anywhere. I'm surprising my family with the Roy Disney suite and that was one of the few weeks that it wasn't already booked.

The thing that I am most looking forward to is the same as last time...watching my kids with a permanent smile on their face. Last September was the first cruise for all of us on any cruise line and I found myself just watching my kids and enjoying seeing the stars in their eyes. I'm also looking forward to seeing Castaway Cay which was closed on our first cruise because of the hurricaine.

Everyone here is so friendly. I hope to meet some of you on the cruise. :)

I am most looking forward to going to Castaway Cay twice. The first time we cruised on the DCL in 2001, our route was diverted because of a hurricane and we got to go to Castaway Cay twice. The weather was beautiful both days! When we went last year, we were not so lucky. It was the day we were looking forward to the most and it rained for most of it. We are hoping that we will have better luck this time around!

i'm kind of frightened about costa maya, i looked at some pictures online that someone posted and i'm not so sure about the port town, it looks kind of boring. i think we're going to try to go on the ruins excursion that day. i've heard it's really good.

we mainly chose this cruise because it's my sister's graduation gift and she loved cc. she was so excited to find that there was going to be a cruise that went there twice.

One of the couples who are going with us was on one of the cruises last year diverted to Costa Maya, and they loved it there. The only drawback to Costa Maya is that if you visit there, you can not donate blood for a year after your visit.(not sure if that has changed recently or not)

I am looking forward to the different ports(only have been to Nassau) and the 2 stops at CC. That was the biggest draw to this cruise, we have been to Key West before, but we adore CC. 2 stops at CC sounds heavenly. PLUS being on the Magic for the first time ever.

Our cruise was supposed to be a 4 day Bahamas but was diverted to Costa Maya in Sept. 05. We enjoyed Costa Maya but had very little time. We were only in port about six hours so you couldn't really do the excursions, just go around town. There is a layer of tourist traps at the ports that you just have to push through. We spent a lot of time looking at the non-tourist stuff and talking with some locals. I thought it was really nice and I'm sure it will be better with excursions this time.

Hi Bethipooh4! We haven't been to Disneyland in 8 years! Have never been to California Adventure - so I'm really looking forward to that! My brother-in-law & family lives about an hour from DL. We've been to DL about 8 times - this has been the longest stretch without going. At least I'm getting in my Disney fix for this year - it will hold me over until next year! The only bad thing is that we'll be there before & after the 17th - which will probably make it more crowded than ever! But we usually work our way around the crowds with the fastpass, etc. I'm too excited to worry about crowds!
The cruise seems so far away, but it will be here before we know it! And the week will be gone before we blink our eyes! We went on the 3 night cruise in 2003 for our 25th Anniversary. Had never been on a cruise before - so we thought we'd try it to see if we would like it - well the 3 days went by so fast... I felt I missed so much! But we loved it! My DH just loved CC and the snorkling! We were trying to figure out how to go there 2 times, possibly doing back to back 3 & 4 Night cruises, like some people suggested. Disney must have heard us & took our comments seriously! We went on a 7 day cruise to Alaska on the Princess Sapphire, last August - the 7 day was so much more relaxing & we really enjoyed the ship. Hopefully this will be too! Disney can't be beat when it comes to cruisin!
The kids got out of school on the 16th - the teachers had to go 2 more days - til the 20th. We go back on Sept 6th. I'm originally from Yonkers,NY & we never got out before the 25th of June - so it wasn't too bad this year! Of course we only had 2 snow days to add on. That usually makes a big difference!
My DD is already making our disboard magnets for our doors - I'm looking to get red & white striped shirts for our group for pirate night! We'll see! Sure is fun planning!

Just got back from the 6/18 - 6/25 Magic Cruise to Mexico - where we signed up for the 7/22/06 Double Dip. My in-laws went on the Eastern in 2004, booked the Mexican Riviera for this year (which was my first Disney cruise) and we're all going, with the addition of family friends, next year - 13 of us total.

Really looking forward to it - all the CMs onboard for the Mexico cruise mentioned that they missed CC...so it must be better it to go there twice!

We had a small, but enthusiastic group of DisBoarders (we met at Scoops), but given the group for this cruise, I don't think we'd all fit there!

Rooms for our group: 2116 (MIL and FIL), 2120 (SIL and her family), 2130 (my family)

Did anyone read some of the trip reports from the repositioning cruise DISers - they used "fish extenders" to leave small dollar store type gifts...(and did other cool things I can't recall just now). When it gets closer, I hope we might be able to get a list of room numbers going and some plans for a meet, pirate night etc etc (and I know I am not the only one dying for a glimpse of the Walt Suite)
You guys are great and it is terrific that we can meet this way!

Hi everyone! We're back from CA. Had a great time - too short though! We went to DCA on 7/14, with my brother-in-law & niece. It was great - not too crowded at all. Loved how they have a variety of attractions from all the WDW parks, plus new ones. Soarin' was great, we went on 2X, as well as Screamin', 4X for that. I was a little disappointed in the Tower of Terror - you basically get in and do the drops. :scared1: No moving to the drop elevator. It seemed much shorter. We stayed from 9:30am-10pm. My DD17 & DD22 & DN11 all got the golden ears. They were everywhere. They're nice with an embroidered patch on the front. The ones they gave out on the 17th had the date embroidered on the back, but only a thin little patch on the front. Monday the 18th we went to DL. By the time we drove to Anaheim, parked the car at the hotel & walked over, it was about 10am. We headed straight to Space Mt. They said an hour wait - we got fastpasses & got on line anyway, it took only 30 minutes from start to finish. It was very smooth! No darker than the old SM, some people said it was very dark. You could still see the tracks & stars. DL was very crowded!! The most I've ever seen there. But we worked our way around the park - Most lines were about a half hour wait or less. The only one that was an hour from start to finish was Indiana Jones. We wanted to go on the Matterhorn - the line was all the way around it. So we said forget it. We went back later - got on in 2 minutes! Without a fastpass! My DD's had fun doing the VMK trivia - then going back & getting their prizes. The fireworks were fabulous! We stayed until closing at midnight, my DH left about 10. I was amazed at what they did to the parking lot in the last 8 years since I was there. They built DCA, Downtown Disney & a Parking Garage! I was impressed how the garage is! Very easy to get in & out. So organized! I wish Disney would come & re-do our local shopping area parking - an accident waiting to happen! I'm sure my DD (Alyssa) will fill you all in on the rest. Can't believe we'll be waiting in the Cruise terminal at this time next year waiting to get on the ship! :thewave:

We saw a few at WDW and when I looked was told they were sold out there, and had been for a while.

All the California attractions sound incredible. I haven't been to DL since 1992, so I can't even begin to imagine the changes.

Hi everyone,

Add a few more families to the list! My family will be taking our fourth DCL cruise on 7/22/06 (me, DH, DS12, DD10). We'll be traveling with my parents, as well as another family (DW, DH, DD13, DD9).

Also, another family may join us (DW, DH, DS14, DS10). So far we're up to 14 people! There may even be a few more.

We last sailed in July 2004, so it will be two years between cruises for us. We took a Western Caribbean cruise during that trip, but of course Costa Maya will be new - as well as two stops at Castaway Cay!

Sounds like some of you are from New Jersey ... we are too! :)

All of the children cruising with us like to meet new friends, so hopefully they will hit it off with some of your children. In the past they have loved spending time in the kids' clubs and with the children's programming ... this is the first time we're cruising with young teens, so we'll see how that goes.

We are DVC members ... so we have lots of DisneyWorld (and a little Disneyland) experience! I'm looking forward to meeting many of you!

We are just back from 12 wonderfully HOT days at WDW and are now looking foward to our July Cruise! Our group is growing in size also. "bring a brown bag of gifts, from the area where you live, no more than $10, and we'll exchange. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.
We must have had around 11-12 families. (samples: Hershey bars and tastykakes from PA, salt water taffey from NJ, dice from Las Vegas, Starbucks coffee from WAshington state, Cincinnati Reds items, scones from England"

When we get closer we'll have a better idea of how many families but it would be a GREAT way to break the ice at our DIS meet! It also motivates people to go...

We've just booked on the Jul 22, 2006 cruise too! We are DVC members and love the Disney Cruise. This will be our 5th cruise on the Magic.

We'll be a party of 8 total, me, DH, DS-13, DD-9 and my best friend, her DH, DD-14, DS-9. The 8 of us sailed in August 2004 and thanks to Hurricane Charley my friends family missed the ship but was able to catch up with us in Key West. So for this cruise we're going to go to Universal for a few days before the cruise just to make sure we don't miss the ship :boat:

We're really looking forward to CC twice and seeing Costa Maya. And meeting our fellow DIS'ers.

After our run-in with hurricane Charley last summer, we tried again with the Thanksgiving cruise and really loved stopping at Castaway Cay twice! :love: Now that we're booked, we can't wait for July to roll around! Our group has gotten and is getting bigger...my brother-in-law is now bringing all of his family (+8), and my wife's friend's family (+4) are about to book. I think we're up to 25 now.

Wow...you have our group beat!! We are travelling with all of my brothers and sisters, plus their wives/husbands, kids, grandparents, and my sisters in laws our group is at 18 people. We are having the same situation where everyone wants to eat together. We cruised in 2001 and at that time were only 13 and that seemed to pretty much max their ability for everyone at one table. So I think everyone has finally resolved themselves for hoping for two tables very close to each other where we can still enjoy each other's company:) Only 10 months to go!!!

indymom1 - when we went on our last Disney cruise there was a family group of about 25 - 30. They had 3 tables all together in one area. One table was adults, one was kids, and the third was teenagers/young adults. They all seemed to be having a great time!
proffessorandmom - what tour would you recommend on Costa Maya? We definitely want to do a Mayan ruin tour. Any recommendations for Cozumel tours?

I also read that the family beach at CC suffered some damage, and so did the new stingray excusion. They actually release the rays for safety, and have to wait for them to return.

Well I'm relatively new to the boards and finally found the thread of who's going on the particular date we're going :Pinkbounc . Glad i finally found it :)

My family, DH, DS19 and DD18 will be with me. Can't wait, booked it well over a year in advance and have literally counted the days. We'll be going to WDW for a few days beforehand. Also joing us is my cousin and her family, kids about the same ages. It'll be nice to have my kids over 18 and being able to go where they wish.

This is our 3rd Disney Cruise, did one 7 and 1 four nighters. Hoping to do a longer one soon, maybe we'll book onboard :banana: Hope to see you all there.

Hi Beth! I found them in K-Mart - on sale for $8.49 ! I was so excited! Actually I was able to get 2 in PA, then I went to the one in NJ (the K-Mart by us has closed, so I had to go to one a little further) they had alot of them, including women's sizes! The only one I didn't get one for is my niece(12) & DD(18)(jazstar87) - she's wearing something else for the occasion! Now all we need are black pants or capri's! I have to think about shirts for everyone. I got a Brother (Disney embroidery) sewing machine last Christmas - maybe I'll do something with that. A good place for cheap shirts is Vanity Fair - in Reading, PA - or sometimes Old Navy has good sales. We only have 200 days to do this! They're going to fly! Bye!

oh, i definitely understand about the people your own age thing. our last disney cruise i was too old to hang out with my sister, who was allowed into the teen clubs and too young to really do anything with the "grownups". it was kind of a bummer. i didn't really get to meet anyone on board who were my age.

Wow, your group makes our group of 12 look small....

Have you given any thought to how you book excursions as a group, or Palo(if you are going).
I am looking for ideas on how to plan for ours. Only 2 of the 4 families are castaway members and can book at 90 days out.

We're also working on tshirt designs...Lord help me...I am in charge. LOL

With reservations for excursions and Palo - you _might_ be able to book everyone if you have their cruise reservation number. I don't know for sure - this is the first cruise on which I'll be a Castaway Club member. The easiest thing to do is to call - that's what I did when I was booking our excursions for the Mexico cruise last summer. The web site doesn't seem to be able to handle making reservations across different groups at the same time.

As for the T-Shirts, we're looking into creating something from here:

Best of luck with your planning. Fortunately, for our group, I don't think anyone wants to do anything with _everyone_ at the same time, except dinner. How they're going to put 23 :eek: of us together, I have no idea. They seemed to have a semi-difficult time with 13 of us last summer.

According to our DU agent, if all of our reservations are linked(ours are) we will probably get a table together since we are only a group of 12.

Since 2 of us are CC members, we can book Palo for our group and split it up, 6 and 6, or however we want to divide it. Each member can book reservations for up to 6.

Only thing we can't do is book excursions for everyone.

I saw a few of you posted on the regular boards about predictions for our pirates nights, etc. So how are we going to pick palo nights? Are you just going to guess and change it on board if you are missing formal night or pirate ect??????????
Also, I know there is a website where you can put in your date to be at WDW and it will calculate the day to call for PS....is there one for Palo/spa etc???

Well, we had planned on Palo for our at sea night, depending on which one we can get, then brunch for the other sea day. We are going to book it for around 8 for dinner, so we can eat with the kids in the main dining room, and brunch for around 11 in case it falls on the day our character breakfast is.
We have early seating for dinner

As far as figuring out when we can book, I did it the old fashioned way, I counted backwards on a calendar from the first day of the cruise.
Since we are CC members, I figured our 90 day mark is April 24th.

Hello everyone who is gonna be going on the Disney July cruise for the 22nd to the 29th! This is the Hansen family responding all the way from Guam..WE are gonna be makeing the exhausting flight home to make the cruise..
