Don't really have anything new to say, just wanted to be the 1,000th post. :thumbsup2
Also, on a good note: (from weather.com)
"In stark contrast to the anomaly that was the 2005 Atlantic Hurricane Season, July 2006 continues to be a quiet one. Strong westerly winds are prevalent over much of the Caribbean Sea, which won't allow development of any tropical cyclones."
Looks like there will be no tropical weather issues for us. Quite a relief from someone who's last DCL cruise was altered by Hurricane Frances.

Bummer! We leave Friday and I have to be on call Thursday night. We are going to have to pack ahead of time and will be a bit of a madhouse Friday morning to get to the airport on time.
Sorry to hear this HeelMD (which could also actually be HealMD), we'll pray that no one needs to call you!! Thanks for the weather update, I can cross that off the to-do list for today! :thumbsup2
Joan BWV98, I don't know the Palo brunch time (I would guess 11-2 but someone probably knows) but have a great trip!
One week til we sail! :cheer2:

I know some people have left for the FL area already, but for those of us left...
Does anyone think it would be helpful if we compiled a "shipboard address list"? I was thinking DIS name, stateroom number, real first names, childrens names, DS or DD, and ages? I was thinking it would be nice to hand it out at our meet, and then we can spend more time visiting and exchanging bags.
If anyone agrees, PM your info and I will compile it.
We'd all have to agree to use it for good, not evil. Like no sending Disney characters to Iceman's door to wake him up! :)

Disney? Again?
Great minds think alike. I had just cut and paste the current list into a word document. I highlighted in red the groups that had kids who would be in the club (7 and under). That way I could see quickly who my kids could buddy up with. I was going to go back and add all the real names I could.
I agree that if you take a list, no tricks on anyone. I like to have a laugh, but I'm not in HS anymore.
I will pm my info. DH didn't want to put our room and kids names out on the web for all to see.
Thanks for doing this.

My nephew just turned nine the beginning of this month....
For those of you who found out about the movies, but don't want to ruin the surprise, can you PM me? DW is most curious. This is the same lady who checks to see how much time is left on a DVD when a scene gets particularly intense, so "ruining the surprise" is NOT an issue.
Joan, for the submarine excursion in Cozumel, only my BIL and nephew are going - I don't know the time.
Disney? Again? I'll send a PM shortly....

I do believe the meet is at 3 pm on deck 10 behind(overlooking) the Goofy pool, water side. And after the drill, that seems to be the favored spot for watching the sail away party.

But we ARE trying to whittle it down - honest! :rolleyes1 Anyone else out there having trouble packing(and waiting???)

Mom2MissMous - I agree, can't wait for Friday but lots to do.
I am also a NOTORIOUS overpacker, and we're staying at the BC after also. I did cure myself a little bit by actually thinking about the days/nights and trying not to have three different choices per day packed! If my DH really wanted to cure me, he'd have me ever lift the suitcases! :rotfl2:

07-16-2006, 06:08 PM
I would have to agree - an overpacker I am. BUT I have packed and repacked five times for this trip...trying to minimize.
My final packing words (to my husband, of course - who is trying to encourage fewer items)...
"This is the least I can take...so help me GOD if I run out of things to wear". :confused3
We can always do laundry, right?
roysbrew
07-16-2006, 07:05 PM
Another onverpacker here,
But then I'm usually packing at 1 am the night before. DH & I have all our clothes ready to go in the suitcases. Now I just have to organize DD & DS things. Plus all the non clothes things. we are going down Tues. & we will have to do laundry or rent a bigger car. With the 50lb limit for bags when flying, I can't use the vaccum bags we used to use to fit everything into 4 bags.
This time I pulled things out of DH & my pile. Definitely a first.
Jazzstar, my hair is still wet from trying out my snorkle gear in our pool. We spent the morning running around trying to find another Body Glove kids snorkle set from Sams. 2 sams, 1 costco, Rei, a pool store, & academy sports later we never found one. I thought DH bought 2, but he could only get one. They will have to share or we'll try to check a Sams in FL. This set has a mouthpiece that seals if you go under water so you don't swallow water. Good for 4 year olds and newbies like me.
Good luck not overpacking to everyone out there. :)

Yikes!! thats what I'm afraid of! So far we have been doing the weigh yourself :faint: weight with the suitcase and subtract routine. We have 3- 40ish pounders plus garmet bag(dinner clothes for cruise) , one combined shoe(both DD and I have foot prob so need to bring extra shoes to trade off-/ DD is a crocs convert)/tolietries bag and carry-ons. Still trying to lessen it but..What can I say? :confused3

WWWWOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW
I am in the Sunny State of FL
Yup, made the drive in one trip (a first for me) and am relaxing getting pampering from Mom and Dad
We will head to Disney on Thursday
YIKES: Did I really post Mickey Pool for the meet NO NO NO
I meant Goofy Pool!!!!
Yikes
In fact, I recently read on a trip report thread that it was important to pick a side of the ship - so lets go with the side of the ship AWAY from the port - NEAR the water!!!!
ABOVE the GOOFY pool!!
I will go check the PM I sent everyone and will resend if necessary
Hopefully the lunch bags will give us away!!!
See you all real soon!!!
VACATION
Wow
I am relaxed already

Yup, the PM I sent to everyone on the list said the meet was on Deck 10 by the mickey pool - oh, well....
AND to make matters worse, the list of DIS names is on the lap top (which I purposely made stay home) so I can't resend
Thanks everyone for understanding and please pass along the correction
DIS MEet:
3:00 pm on Saturday (yes, a mere 5 days away) Deck 10 near the goofy pool and on the "water" side of the ship
look for the lunch bags!!!
See y'all soon

Same problem here, so for this trip we went out and bought luggage that weighs itself! :lmao: It's got a scale in the handle so you hit a button, pick up the bag and it tells you how much it weighs. Pretty cool stuff! :thumbsup2

Wow! 2 days I'm away from the boards and almost 3 pages later..... I guess everyone is excited! :dance3: Tomorrow I will be in PANIC mode! I have only 2 days to pack! We're in good shape with our bag - that's done - the men's shirts for Pirate night are done - DD embroidered them with Mickey's - our sailaway shirts are done. DD is now embroidering names on the pillowcases - for autographs - we're going to try to have it done - a whole week - they should be able to to it!
Got all our last minute supplies to take... nothing like being over prepared for anything that may come up. So now I have to start packing & eliminating anything I may not wear! Fun, fun, Fun!! :stitch: :mickeybar :figment:

Well, if it weren't for my DW, I'd be in a lot worse shape. She's actually got the kids all packed up, all her clothes set out, and she's started to pack her stuff. I've kind of got a few things moved around the closet a little bit. :)
It'll probably be a late Thursday night for me, while the kids and DW get a good night sleep.
Stay cool everyone. I suppose if there's going to be a nationwide heat wave, we may as well be on a cruise ship, eh?

Contingency plan - if it's raining (and only if it's raining), meet on Deck 9 right _under_ where you would have met on Deck 10. It'll be covered (by definition) by Deck 10 so we should be able to stay reasonably dry.
But, it won't be thunderstorming...all the static electricity from Barb's bubble wrap, not to mention the brain waves from IceMan's communicator, will keep the storm away. :teeth:

Hi, P&PD for everyone getting their transportation to the ship in a timely manner!!!!
For anyone who has not sent me a PM with their info for the DIS Ship "Address List", please forward first names, childrens' names and ages, stateroom and early or late seating if you want to be included
Can't wait to see everyone at Deck 10 or 9!
Packed? Not yet, but thanks for asking! :goodvibes The power went out for hours due to storms, who had time for that??
P.S. My son asked me to add this one... :badpc: he's trying to download games to Daddy's laptop for the trip -- he plays while I get dressed for dinner. Everybody wins!

Well - it's 2:30am and I guess I finished packing. It's all the little things that keeps me up - like getting the recycling ready for next week, looking for my Disney rewards card that I thought I put with all my other documents! I found it on another pile! Emptying out my bag with unnessesary stuff & filling it with necessary stuff. So it looks like I will get to sleep for about an hour and a half before I have to get up! We're supposed to head out to Newark at 5am.
Iceman arrived safely in Orlando tonight. Safe landings to everyone - see you all on Saturday. My DH is bringing his laptop - we'll see if we can use it before the cruise...to keep you posted and see that everyone got their packing done!
Looks like the usual 3pm showers every day in Orlando - I have my ponchos packed! I better get to bed! 4am will get here very quickly!!!

It's 3:30am and I'm suppose to get up at 4am to get ready to go to the airport. :rotfl2: :lmao: Ummmm, don't think that sleep is going to happen. I'll make sure to take as many naps as possible, so I'll be rested for all our fun and adventures. Though I'm exhausted, I'm so very excited...not just about the cruise, but about meeting everyone. :grouphug: See you Friday Beth. :wave2:

As far as packing, I have our clothes in different "piles" - just need to put them in suitcases. Very worried about space in the cabin so I am trying to travel light (4 med suitcases). My DH thinks some of the items can be removed (said my small suitcase resembles an isle at Walgreens). :rotfl2:

Beth, We're still here. Leaving at 5:30 AM (yikes) on Friday. I have not put a dent into our packing. We too lost power last night due to the storms but at least it broke that ungodly heat.
I have to finish tonight so then I can concentrate on all the small things. I also have a Walgreen's suitcase like you. I keep saying I'm going to take some clothes out, but I know I won't. So I'll have a ton of suitcases, it's OK.
Glad to hear about the storm, hope it stays out to sea. Our flight is from Philly to Charlotte and then to Orlando.

Count me in as another one still here - won't be leaving until Friday morning, either. I know better than to gripe about what DW packs. I figure if they allow her to put it on the plan and on the ship, what she brought was "just right."
Besides, if there's no room to carry "stuff" home, then we won't have to spend money on said "stuff". :cool1:

Ouch, Beth! Hopefully the doctor will be able to give you something to beat away whatever it is you've got. Steroid eyedrops maybe.
My niece is kind of packed, but only because she had to pack to come up here last week. I suppose that means she's sort of already on vacation. Myself, however... I haven't packed yet. There's a pile of random items and toiletries that I know I will be packing, but it's not the same as actually packing.
Since we're only an hour away from the port, I'll worry about this later!

A co-worker sent me that story yesterday...scary stuff, indeed. It really sounds like some sort of mechanical gremlin on a new boat that hadn't been worked out previously.
Just like any other activity in life, stuff happens - even on a cruise ship. The chances of 2 such things happening within a week of each other are EXTREMELY low, so this isn't going to bother us, much.
Then again, I'm kinda hoping my DW and MIL don't see this, otherwise they'll freak out.

We are safely here in Orlando, staying with Friends. I think it is cooler here then it was in TN. Our flight was great and DD & DS were perfect. 2nd time I flew alone with them, 1st time without a stroller.
I felt bad for everyone who stayed up late packing. But I felt better that I'm not the only one who ends up getting 2 hours sleep before they go away.
Savagefam, glad you are back at the radisson, sorry you won't get to be with your friends.
Hope everyone finishes packing and has a safe trip down.
What happened at the port?
I went to sleep at 2 am last night (was catching up with dear friend).
We head to SeaWorld tomorrow to have some fun with DF & our kids (we're splurging and spending the night there. (1st round of laundry will be done in our 2bdrm villa before we head to the radisson at the port)
BTW I tried to pack as little as possible too. Less then 24 hrs later we have gone through a couple of clothes changes. I brought alot but I realize in FL you need more than you think because 5 minutes outside and you stink!
See you all very soon

Thanks...I saw 3 doctors yesterday. I get to see another one here in a few hours. So far, everyone has been consistent - they think it is Central Serous Retinopathy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_serous_retinopathy). The good news is that while some of the symptoms are similar to that of a torn retina, it doesn't need surgery. The retinologist will hopefully give me the final word today.
The bad news is that it is usually brought on by stress, and I'm stressing about it. :rotfl2: The other bad news is that one of the courses of action is limitiing/eliminating caffeine and alcohol. !@#! ! @#! !@#! @%@!!!!!
So, thanks to everyone for their good thoughts....best wishes to those who have already started their vacations. I managed to actually start packing last night - which is pretty good for me considering we leave tomorrow.
It's 5AM my time right now (couldn't sleep) - I'll justify this as "getting used to EDT". :teeth:

That was iggbees who gave your DH the sign. We got it on the last night, so we signed it. - Even Iceman signed it, and then she ran around looking for someone else. She said everyone had taken down their dis signs from the door - so she went back to the room for the list - and bumped into him.
Glad to hear everyone is slowly getting back home. DH said afterward that we should have stayed an extra day, but it was nice to just veg out for a day before he went back to work. Hard to believe it's over - got to see 2 hours of videotape last night. Loved the look on everyone's face when the Hummerzine arrived to pick us up at POP! (Happy Limo upgraded us) -
Got to get back to the :laundy: Looking forward to hearing everyone's reports!

I got it from Roodoll on Wednesday and gave it to Pooh's Purple Pal next door to me(hi Gail). I did take pictures of it on my door, and as soon as DH tells me where they are hidden on this computer I will post them.

I think Barb, Professor and Mom, started that. We never received it so consider me signing it now. It was a pleasure meeting everyone and we had such a great time. It is really hard to get back to reality. Our boys are really in a fog. They miss that teen club and everyone that met so much.
I think our cruise was perfect timing because there is Tropical Storm Chris that could be near the Bahamas by this weekend. Maybe no Castaway Cay for the current cruisers.
Well back to work I go to make some cash for our next vacation. Beth, I'm enjoying reading your cruise report. It's like living the cruise all over again.

Thanks Dee,
My boys really miss the clubs too(ok the eldest does) as you can tell youngest had some issues. I had issues too by the end of the cruise , and let Disney know it.
DH called me to tell me about the storm, he thinks by the weekend it may be a Cat 1 near CC. I am glad we aren't on the cruise now.
It was such a pleasure meeting everyone, and then running into everyone through out the ship.
PJ53, thanks about the pirate shirts...we got alot of stares and comments (good ones)that night, and the pictures turned out great!!! Wish I could take credit for them, but the creative DIS boards helped me with them. I got a good pic of the famous ICEMAN while we were waiting for the tender, and will post it when I can find it.

Funny, yes, I ended up with the sign, with about a dozen signatures - I am so pleased it wound around
Let me say how very grateful I am to have met everyone...it was a very magical cruise...I have found it hard to get onto the boards since my almost two years of planning are over - nothing to consume me
Once again, many thanks, the bags were great!
Glad to retire the bag lady name

Hi All - Just got a call back from the NJ Blood Center - I was supposed to give blood next week - well for everyone's info - going to Costa Maya - means we can't give blood for a year. Cozumel is okay, but not Costa Maya. I figured I'd call before I showed up - glad I did. Unless you didn't get off the ship! :stitch:

Oh man. I am a regular blood donor, so this is a bummer. Thanks for the information!

Thank you all for sharing the anticipation of this trip. My family can only take so much of me talking about vacations.
It was wonderful to meet you all. The bags were a great idea.
I have many things from Tennessee and I have enjoyed all of them. In fact I just looked at the Titans sticker to find out how to spell Tennessee. :)
Thank you so much. I hope we meet again.
Now I going to check Bethipooh's trip report that I have heard about :surfweb:
I want to go back!!!. I have been wearing my lanyard and pins to work this week trying to hold on to the feeling. :sail:
