HELP...

I just took a pregnancy test and it is positive!...going to Disney next week and want to creatively tell my DH and 3 DD's we're going to be a family of 6 in 9 months.

Anyone out there have any Disney ideas???

First and foremost--congrats!!! :)

This is probably pretty lame, because I'm a guy and we're generally pretty lousy and stuff like this, but what if bought some cute Disney baby clothes and used that as a set-up to talk about it... sheesh.. that just sounds silly.. well, I tried! ;)

Congratulations again!!

At the Pooh store in Downtown Disney they have a section of pooh characters when they were babies. Ask your husband what baby pooh character does he think your baby would like.

I was going to say to tell them at the top of splash mountain right before the drop, but being pregnant you may not want to ride that one. Maybe ask a cast member to take your picture in front of the castle or someplace and tell them when they are about to take the picture so you can get their reactions on film. Whatever you do, enjoy your vacation and your new addition!! Congratulations!!!

Congrats! I don't know how you're going to keep it a secret - I would be bursting!

It would be great to get cast members into the "surprise." I think the easiest way would be to get a PS somewhere and call before hand to let them know you plan to surprise your family with the news and ask if they could help.

Just imagine with me - when you show up for your PS and give your name, the CM exclaims "oh, you must hot & tired! You really shouldn't be standing so much! Here - I insist you sit down while you wait!";) CM then flags down a server/busboy, "quick, get Mrs.___ something to drink!" Imagine the surprised looks on the faces of your family (as well as everyone else around during this big production!):bounce: :bounce:

Fast forward to when you are seated - imagine the fussing & pampering by your server (and maybe some of the other servers as well?) "You should eat more, you need to keep your health up!" "You really should drink more milk," while bringing you a glass of it and refilling it throughout the meal. Etc, etc,... you get the idea. Have them hint but never actually say the news - none of "you're eating for two." By the end of the meal, your family should get the drift!:p :p

For some reason I think Prime Time 50"s at MGM would be perfect for this. Mom and Dad so concerned for your well-being, scolding you for not eating your vegetables and drinking your milk, etc. However, it might be more surprising, unexpected, funnier, if this happened some place more understated.

I don't even know if this can be pulled off. It's much easier to imagine than to do. But you can always call and find out if the restaurant is willing. Hey - they might really get into it!

No matter how you tell them, it'll still be the greatest news!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Good luck! Let us know what happens!

What about getting the people at Gifts of a Lifetime to send your family on one of those "treasure hunts". At the end you could have them give your kids and hubby a little gift telling them about the baby. I have read of people doing this for engagements and birthdays...I bet they could do it for a new baby too.

I really like the idea that SleepyatDVC came up with. I would definitely get a CM involved. It would make it so much more fun!!

Thanx to all of you...such great suggestions!

Sleepy...I don't know how I am going to pull this off either...notice the time of day (night!)I am up and at my computer! My DH keeps saying "I can't wait for next week to be over"...That makes two of us! This is going to be our first DVC stay at BWV and WLV...if that isn't excitement enough.

I like the idea of getting a CM involved...My brothers family and my Mom will be there with us the first night...Won't they all be surprised, especially since my DH has been fretting about his August date with the urologist...now he can wait atleast nine months more! LOL

Thanx again everyone...I'll post what I did when we return

Maybe you could have WDW Florist decorate your room with balloons and banners announcing your impending arrival while you were at the parks one day, if you're staying onsite. Have your camara ready to snap his picture when he walks in the room.

They have some really cute Disney 2001 Bib's at DTD and I'm sure other places. Although the baby will arrive in 2002 (with luck they may have those available) have a CM bring the bib over to the table and present it to your DH and have the CM say Congratulations..........
I bet he'd be surprised!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations............I also have 3 DD's and can't quite decide about making us a family of 6!!!!!!!!! Pixie Dust for a happy, healthy pregnancy........Keep us updated.....We leave tomorrow for our trip.........

There is an attraction at Epcot that is tailor-made for this announcement, in my opinion! "The Making of Me" starring Martin Short, I think....gives great detail over conception, baby growing in-utero, etc....I've never seen it, just read about it....however, you could show the description in a guidebook to your husband and say "we SIMPLY MUST make this attaction part of our itinerary" or something to that effect -- perhaps he'd clue in, and perhaps you'd have to wait til you got there to break the news -- who knows?! It's supposed to be very well done, and make you a little "misty" -- PERFECT -- good luck -- Incidentally, when I found out I was pregnant it was a week before Mother's Day...I invited my mother and mother-in-law for a girly brunch...I had two bibs wrapped that said, "I'm Grandma's Little Baby" and gave them to them.....they unwrapped them and didn't "get it" for a minute, then it hit them both at the same time -- they were laughing, crying and hugging! it was very fun -- cya and good luck...

Mollybelle - I love your idea!:)

Dizngirl - maybe you can have the CM make the "announcement" after the show when they turn up the lights. Send your family off to Body Wars or Cranium Command without you while you have a long talk with the CM at "The making of me" to set this up.

Your family will be sure to get the congratulations of everyone in the theather with you! It will sure be a Disney moment for anyone lucky enough to be there!

It was suggested on here once to get in line for one of the lines wiht rerstrictions (try to find out whcih ones actually have pregant women should not ride on the sign) then when you pass the sign just say "oh I can't ride this ride and point to the sign. It might take a whiel and you might have ot help hime eliminate the other warnings.

Won't the VOMITING be a dead give away? I could never keep the big surprise more than a week after finding out because I would be so sick. Seriously, congratulations! Maybe you will break your girl streak this time or have a beautiful family of all girls. (Hey, if you do maybe we could arrange something in 20 or so years with my five boys!) How about arranging for your hotel to have a crib delivered before you arrive and you could say something like, "I just wanted to see if we would all fit in here next year!" ;)

Congratulations!!!! I hope I have this same dilemma next month :D :D :D :D :D

I like the crib in the room idea, but I also like the idea of having CM's involved somehow.

Please come back and tell us after your trip.

Go to the craft store and get some of those plain t-shirts for the kids and a fabric pen. Write "I'm going to be a big sister" or something on the shirts and put them on when he's in the bathroom (in the morning) or at some other time.

Hi,
I just had to reply too...
I would probably buy a pair of mouse ears and have "Baby 2002" embroidered on the hat...or have one for everyone in the party delivered to your hotel before you arrive... when DH checks be sure the whole family is huddled around him at the desk and the staff will present him with everyone's hat.. he passes them out and realizes there is one extra... UH OH!!! hee hee

Or this idea would work great at a character meal by talking to a CM and before your favorite character got to your table and let them bring the ears over and present them to "DADDY".... you could get a great picture of his face this way!!!!

Just a few ideas....

Congratulations!

How about having a cake delivered to your table after dinner that says something like, "We're having a baby!!!" WDW Bakery apparently makes wonderful cakes....it would be simple and you wouldn't have to rely on the acting abilities of a CM.....

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Let us know how things go.....

How about purchasing Disney beanies for the family, put name cards in their 'hands" titled Mommy, Daddy, Janie, Susie, etc. and have one of the Disney baby beanies (I picture a cute pastel Pooh bear or Piglet) hold a sign saying "New baby sister/brother" or "Baby's 1st Disney Beanie" or something creative - have them set up in the room the day you arrive or one evening after a day at the park. I can just imagine your girls grabbing the beanies, looking for their name and their curious looks when they seen the "BABY's 1st" beanie - and the shocked look on your hubbies face too!
Personally, I'd rather share the news with just my family instead of in a public place, you know they'll be full of questions and DH may need to lay down! You could arrange for a special dessert to be brought to the room for the girls and some sparking grape juice for you and DH. Have a wonderful time and a healthy nine months!

Wow!! All the great ideas, it's hard to pick just one!! I really like the idea of the baby crib in the room! I would have balloons and the room decorated (no banners, just tell him in person what is all the commotions) and you must have a CM in the room hiding until you tell him the news, then have the CM come out and take the "surprise" picture.

OR....the other idea about after watching "The Making of Me," have the CM announce to the public that there will be a new addition to the family of .... and we would all would like to congratulate the family!

Let us know what your plan is, this is so exciting!! Congrats again!! :bounce:
