Different airlines have different rules. I know Delta and United all pay the same. But have seen that Southwest has different prices for adults and children. You should give the airline of choice a call and ask. You could save a few $$. I always have to pay adult fare for my grandson (at ages 3, 5, 6, and 7) on Delta, USAir and United.

Mainly just on international flights.
Southwest does have childrens rates, however they are usually higher than their 'sale' fares.
Sun Country (a regional carrier based out of Minneapolis) also offers childrens fares.

We have tickets from BWI to Jacksonville on USAirways and our 18 month old daughter has a 1/2 price ticket for a seat. We purchased through expedia for this trip, it appears as though we couldn't have gotten the 1/2 price through travelocity so I guess they would have pocketed the difference.
