It was Stunning!!!!!
Arrived to a packed Manchester Arena (One guy paid £240 for 3 tickets off a tout!) The guys came on at 7.30 and finished at 11.10 with a 20 min break,Amazing tunes, sound lights the sounds 3 guys make is remarkable.
It was a bit emotinonal here and there The drummer Neil Peart lost his daughter in a car accident and his wife with Cancer 10 months later in the nineties and didnt pick up a drumstick for 4 years while he came to terms with it so the band went on hold until he was ready or indeed wanted to come back, and I for one are glad he came back ! The crowd made him very welcome though getting huge cheers and boy can he drum he can chew and spit out any other drummer in rock-period
There was huge screen back of the stage and in one song a dragon (the bands new mascot)breathed fire and the whole stage set alight!! it looked so cool (or hot!)
The tour is the 30th anniversary of the band and with it being 12 years since they last came over another tour looks a little slim but Im glad I saw this a night I will never forget!!

Sounds like you had a fantastic time Ian :)

You can't beat the atmosphere at a gig like that can you?

Haven't seen them since the Moving Pictures tour in '81, but was tempted by these dates. From your review it sounds as though I really missed something special :)

I was watching the Rush in Rio DVD yesterday and my wife couldn't believe a trio could produce such a powerful/complex sound. Neil Peart is definitely the best drummer I've heard!

Yes it really was an electric night Lucky Glaswegians tonight!
Theyve played 45 gigs in the States 6 in UK and 6 in Europe next week all Sold Out!!!
Homer you should have gone! And I agree Rush in Rio is Awesome!! The best Music DVD I have (Over 100) The drum solo on it Neil does with The Big Band thats what he did at Manchester-Stunning....I too saw them on Moving Pictures tour thats a great Album..In fact that was the last time I saw them in 81
Bonzo they were cool in the seventies but now theyve totally embraced technology and in a concert nothing is taped every sound is either played or triggered! They now play a medley at beginning of show which is basically bits of all old stuff and is called R30 then they go straight into Spirit of Radio and 15.000 people go Nutz!!!

Please you had a good time - my elder brother is a big Rush fan. I think he went to see them a few years ago.
