Hi all,

We on also - myself, DW and DD - 22. She has a week long thanksgiving break so we took advantage to spend a week in Florida. Arriving 11/20 - my dad lives in Melbourne Beach so we are spending pre & post there.

Hoping that all these hurricanes are finished in the next 65 days so that we'll have smooth sailing and Castaway Cay to enjoy.

Anyone planning on doing any excursions on either CC or Nassau? I was thinking about doing one, but I'm not sure if I just want to let the days progress, or if I want to have something planned. Oh the choices!

We've been to Nassau about a half dozen times over the last 15 years, we may just stay on the ship and enjoy the quiet time. At CC we will snorkel, we bring our own gear with us. We'll probably do it at the family beach because there are interesting things to see that disney has placed out in the water.

We've decided to do the Blackbeard's Cay Beach & Stingray Adventure in Nassau. On CC we're just going to relax on the beach.

Blackbeard's Cay Beach & Stingray Adventure looked pretty interesting. The glass bottomed boat excursions looked neat too. Guess I should talk it over with hubby, see what he wants to do.

Arriving at MCO Wednesday night. AK first thing Thursday for baggage drop off and passes then off to the attractions.

Dinner at the AK Buffet on Thursday.

Saturday, specialty cruise for illuminations (That was tought to get) and then off to Port Canaveral. We're on deck 6, outside room.
Party includes DW, DD 12, DD 10 and my DD and DM who treated us all to this. :love1:

I definitely want to take the kids snorkeling, but I can't decide between snorkeling at Nassau or at CC. Which has the better reefs? I know from the posts that CC has mickey and a sub in the water maybe we could do both?

We'll be on the "Thanksgiving Cruise" as well. DW and 2 DS (8 & 9)
I have booked us a room at the Comfort Suites ($185.00) so the boys can do the pool and slides thing at Atlantis.

Just curious, but how long has everyone been planning for this cruise? I started planning back in April of 2003. Even though my Dh hasn't said anything, I get the feeling he thinks I'm a little crazy:crazy:because of my daily visits to these boards. My kids have already told me I am.( you gotta love them!)

beccas334
09-30-2004, 10:28 PM
We went to WDW this past March, and when we left the property, DH turned to me and said "Ok, lets plan our next vacation". So on the 7 hour drive home, we decided to take the plunge and take the cruise, it'll be the first for both DH and I.

DH doesn't mind me visiting the boards daily... I think he minds the daily "we have X days left until vacation!" Our DS doesn't know, and we likely won't tell him until we leave... else all we'd be hearing is "is it time for Disney yet?!"

becca

edited to say "we have 48 days left until vacation!" ;)

We went to Home Depot and picked up the Mickey ear paint thingies, and I bought some magnetic paper for the door.

I just know I'll be altering it over a million times before I print it out!

We've been planning for about 15 months. Made the reservations for the the land and sea and then started the dinner reservations, lunch and specialty cruise at 90 days before. Asking the kids for their must do's now. Trying to decide and set up the shore excursions now.

What's the door sign thing?:confused3

Door signs are one of the many ways to decorate the cabin door (so you can tell which door is yours) Here's a thread with more info.

They are really excited about me getting married and the cruise. When I saw that they were doing castaway twice in 2006 I had to book it. It will be our first magic cruise without the kids.::yes:: kids are still excited though because grandparents taking them to WDW.

It will be so nice to go somewhere warm when it's cold up here huh? We are flying down the day before on Northwest. Afterwards alot of family from different areas are meeting us at the Swan resort for a wedding/Thanksgiving celebration. We are going to a theme park on friday Nov.26th then fly home on the 27th. It will be a long week. The excitement here is a understatement:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We've been away for a few days and there have been a bunch of posts on our thread. First off, congratulations castoff on your pending wedding on CC. Do they have a special palce where these are done? Our daughter wanted a disney wedding, but we we wouldn't go for it.

We started planning this cruise in March, tried to get our daughter to join us, but her husband is home between overseas deployments and they want to be home together (and she is the disney freak). Really haven't planned anything yet on shore, except for the snorkeling on CC

Hi NJHOO :wave2: It is my understanding that they only do one wedding per sailing. It is held at 10:00 AM on the deck near the heads up bar. They close all the shutters of the bar. Behind us will be the view of the ship. I think it's near the teen beach. Afterwards we have a reception on the ship at Palo's. I am still hopeful........we will be able to enjoy some time a castaway before we leave. It seems like we have been planning this for ever !!!!!!!! Can't wait till it's here. Tina

For those doing the land/sea, are you planning on going to a park for a few hours on the last day (21st)? I *really* want to spend the morning in MK or AK and get one of those "Today's My Birthday" buttons.

We'll be driving to the port, so if we're able to go to the parks that morning, we'd stay until checkout, then drive to the port. Else, we'll just start the drive over around 10-ish.

Hi all,

Looking forward to the time away, haven't had much vacation since January, only a couple of days here and there. Welcome DisneyNotes, when I first looked at your countdown I got a bit excited that we have only 33 days, but alas you are going 10 days before we are. I'm a huge college football fan, just watched your Red River Shootout, sorry about your loss to OU. Favorite team is Virginia (that's where the HOO) comes from, and we're looking at moving up in the polls the result of the Texas loss and whomever loses in the USC-Calf game.

Since we are now 43 days away, might just be time to print out the packing list to update for this trip. If you haven't cruised DCL before, the dress is certainly casual for the most part.

Is anyone interested in a meet the first day?

Thanks for the warm welcome from my fellow cruisers. Anyone on deck 8? I'll make a door sign with DisneyNotes on there somewhere so you'll know where we are.

Yes, we are leaving on the 11th. We are taking a couple of days to drive out there, then staying 5 nights at the Grand Floridian and then 3 nights at the Beach Club Villas. After the cruise, we will spend 2 nights at the Polynesian and then sadly head back for home. Vacations are fun. Coming home, unpacking and doing laundry are not.

Thanks for the tears over Saturday's game. We take these things seriously in Austin!

On boarding day, we are just going to relax in the hotel and then check out around 10:00 and head for Port Canaveral.

We are going to do the 2-3 hour snorkel excursion at Nassau, but just snorkel on our own and then rent water bikes at Castaway Cay.

Tag, Your It!
Hi Everyone!

We just recently got back from our 09/19 4-day cruise on the Wonder. It truly was a dream come true for our family! Since many of the ideas and helpful hints on this Board really made a positive diference in my cruising experience I thought I would share an idea that I came up with.

After reading about the magnetic door signs I came up with an idea for a fun game that would be a good way to interact with many of the DIS'ers that I met on our cruisemeets thread. I went to Home Depot and got the Alien Green mickey head, scanned it and put the phrase "Tag Your It, Pass This On To Your Fellow DIS'ers" on it and printed it on magentic paper (I than cut the paper in the shape of the Mickey Head). Many of the DIS'ers on our cruisemeets board had given each other there room #'s so our game of tag was passed on to various DIS'ers Cabins. One of the DIS'ers thought it would be great to put our screennames on the "Tag" so we would know who all had been tagged. You could imagine my enjoyment to be the last person tagged so I now have the magnet in my scrap book.

It really was a fun thing to do, so thought I would just pass it on for all you future cruisers!

Faith

I took the above directly from the post that I saw it in. Instead of giving out our cabin #'s we could just give out our deck #'s. It might be more of a hunt that way. I will bring the Mickey head that says DIS'ers on it. Tina

Tag sounds like fun for the kids. We're on deck 5. My two DD's are 12 and 10. Both pretty shy, so this might get them warmed up. I'm not sure about the meet. While I would LOVE to meet everyone, I also feel like our time on the land portion of this is limited and the kids and I have a pretty long "must do" list.

We signed up for the Catamaran snorkel trip at Nassau (anyone else?) and will just relax and play at Castaway. See all of you pretty darn soon!

Welcome minnie1000

I didn't give it much thought that holiday decorations would be up. It will make the trip even better. It sounds like we'll have to get the hang of this tag -- you're it game. Sounds like fun.

This will be our first time on the Wonder, we did a 7 day on the Magic in February 2003; DD was stuck in classesand didn't come with us, but her 2 sisters made the trip.

Sounds like everyone is up for an ice cream social (DIS Meet) after the life boat drill.

Count my family in -- I just booked today -- have two Cat 10 rooms -- it will be me, DH, DS (15) DD (12), DS (11) and DD (6). I would love to join in the meet.

We traveled on the Wonder once before in 2002 and traveled with two other families from home -- this time it's just us -- I'm just hoping the kids enjoy it as much.

Hope to see you all then!

P.S. Add me to the tag list, please "DisneyPoly"

Welcome Disneypoly,
Your family will have a wonderful time, when our daughters were that age they always met up with others and just had a great experience. This just reminded me of a funny story. When we were on the Magic in 2003 DD 24 came with us. She is very young looking. One of the teen counselors saw her and asked why she wasn't participating in any of the teen activities. Her reply - "my husband would prefer that I didn't"

I see that you are from Bucks county PA. We lived across the river from you in Somerset County NJ.

It sounds like we are the only ones that may be having a more traditional Thanksgiving dinner, of course we're leaving the ship to go prepare it. My dad lives about 35 minutes down the coast and we're headed there for the 2 days post cruise.

I'm still getting used to the TAG game. I guess I need to make myself a magnetic sign for the cabin door.

Yes, I booked through DCL and the reason that I called for the date is that we are leaving town on the 11th, which is 10 days early, and I didn't want to miss the packet in the mail. I hope we don't end up in Florida with our documents sitting in our Austin, Texas mailbox!

I hope the October dates were correct.

Can someone pls explain how that "tag game" goes again?

Thanks!

Welcome and of course you may join us!

I'm a little fuzzy on the tag game myself, so I'll leave that for someone else to explain. I do know you'll need to mention your deck number in one of your posts here (not your room number) and make a door magnet with your screen name on it.

I have a 9 year old son, too. Maybe they'll hit it off and want to play. I also have a couple of teenage boys-14 an 16. Can't wait to cruise.

Welcome zack&alexmom and Lilo5! I too have a DS(9).I think it would be great and became friends. I also have a DS(13). For anyone who has children going to the Lab,are you going to allow them signout privileges?

We have never used the children's activities areas on cruises. I'd like to try it, but don't know enough about it. I wouldn't allow my 9 year old to sign himself out though because he might never find us on the ship. Do the kids go for specific activities or is it done by time blocks?

Garfield29
10-21-2004, 06:00 PM
Your son can go to the lab for certain activities or he can go for the whole day.The lab opens at 9am and closes around midnight. On the first day when you sign in at the lab you will be given a pager. This way the CM'S can get a hold of you when he wants to leave. I'm having a hard time trying to decide if I want to give DS(9) signout privileges or not. DH thinks he'll be ok as long as he pages us when he leaves and meets us at a prearranged spot. I'm still thinking about it.:scratchin

DisneyNotes
10-21-2004, 06:03 PM
Well, the pager thing changes my feelings on sign in/outs. Meeting in a spot right when he's ready seems reasonable to me. Guess we'll go the first day to let him check it out and go from there.

Welcome Lilo5 ! :wave2: I am glad you found us. I will add you to our list for tag your it. I just need to know what deck your on. You need to make a magnectic door sign with your screen name so people can find you. This is how we play "Tag your it" I will be bringing a lime green mickey mouse head. I will start by finding someone's cabin and place the mickey head on there door. I will write there screen name on it. Hence the name tag your it.:teeth: If you have been tagged then you or your child must find another cabin off of the list and put it on there door, write there screen name on it. This goes on and on till end of cruise. Last person with it keeps it for a souvenir. See how many times you get tagged. I think the kids will have fun with it. Maybe even some adults. I hope this makes sense.:sunny:

Disneynotes: My DD is 11 and we are using the pager. We did 2 years ago and it worked out great for us. We have a son who is 14 who won't be able to get a pager. We decided that we will leave a note pad in the room and whenever he goes somewhere he is to write it down on pad. This way we will be able to keep track of him. He will also know where we are to in case in needs us.::yes:: Hope that helps. Tina

Yes, that does help. We've taken our family radios in the past and that works well for the older kids. Do you think the activities in the kiddie area are interesting enough to attract the kids or are they more like babysitting services?

I wrote this last night but in my haze I posted a new thread instead of replying to this one.

I'm so excited that the DOC's are going to be coming soon. I don't know about everybody else but more & more of my time everyday is spent thinking about this trip. What is everybody thinking about doing - spa treatments, palo, excursions? I just found my passport book again and trying to decide which spa treatment to do. I am also trying to decide about Palo. How many dinners with the kids, how many without. I guess it will depend in part how much they like the club. I think that they will love it. I don't think that we are going to do any excursions this time - the last cruise we took(no kids) we did too much and I was just tired and felt like I didn't enjoy the ship as much as I should have. Hope this is making sense, I shouldn't be up this late but I start looking at these boards and web sites and get so caught up in it all. Anybody been on a cruise this time of year - what kind of weather (temps) can we expect? How can I get the counter that everybody has at the bottom of their posts? I showed it to my kids tonight and they just kept asking me how much longer now. Can't wait to here what everybody else has planned. Gonna force myself off the computer and to bed for tonight. Disney dreams await.

Castoff - have you thought about shipping some things down to the hotel. My sister did this and it worked great for her. Not that UPS is any more gentle then the airlines but you can probably get it packed better and marked fragile. I would keep the dress with me at all times too. I am so excited for you guys. We may have to have are own little DIS board reception for you two - maybe after your Palo reception or the next day. Can't wait to meet everybody.

Disneynotes- How old will your son be? Tell him a big happy birthday from us! My dd will be 5 on Monday. We have family party, school party, Chuckee Cheese party, & Halloween party this week. Alot to do but at least it will make the time fly. I'm waiting to pack until my sister gives me my bday present because I think it is luggage. I was laying in bed this morning making a mental list though. I will have to add highlighter to that list. Have a great birthday celebration.:Pinkbounc :bounce:  princess:

We have soccer games most of the day and then a group of teenagers for pizza and overnight and all day tomorrow. We are taking them to a University of Texas soccer game. Happy birthday to your daughter, too!

I'm thinking a lot about the trip. It is so close! My 16 yo was just asking questions about our room this morning. He's wondering how much freedom he'll have on the ship, too.

castoff - The UPS idea is a good one for shipping ahead of time. I would keep the dress close, but other things could be shipped.

Ok, let me see if I have this straight.

4:00 - lifeboat drill
4:30 - sail away party
6:00 - early seating (that's us)

Seems like there isn't time for ice cream and visiting in that schedule.

What about 3:00 before the drill? Would that work? I guess it depends on if we can get into our rooms or not.

Going by that schedule............if everyone gets on board we could meet at parrot cay for lunch. Then people could go to there rooms afterwards. We are going to be on a tight schedule because of wedding stuff, but that is a good thing.:teeth:

DisneyNotes
10-24-2004, 06:20 PM
Thanks for the schedule. We are going to try to board as early as possible. I don't think my kids will go for a sit down lunch when we've just boarded because they'll want to look around. Go ahead and plan it though and we'll stop by and say HI and meet the group. (we'll probably end up staying for dessert anyway)

That'll leave you free for the afternoon to plan and it'll keep everyone busy until their rooms are ready.

I didn't think about having to carry all of our life jackets, etc. to the meet if we schedule it just before the drill. Scratch that idea.

10-24-2004, 06:28 PM
You get your life jackets from your room. So either way ..........you have to stop at your room before the drill. I didn't set up the dis meet. Hi everyone!
I can finally start packing! We made an unexpected trip down to my parents this weekend so we needed the suitcase. There's nothing like unpacking your sandles and shorts to replace them with sweatshirts and long pants!
We too have early seating for dinner. I'm not sure if my kids or DH will go for the sit down lunch. I'm also not sure what time we will be on the boat we're doing the land/sea and using Disney transportation. I'm sure we can work something out.

minnie1000- Wow you got your docs! How exciting: We booked through AAA so I'm patiently awaiting a call from or TA(not). I'm so excited I can hardly sit still:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

zack&alexmom- We did the land/sea the third week of November in 2001. In Florida it was in the mid 70's to low 80's and during the cruise it was in the mid 80's to low 90's. The weather was beautiful:sunny:

What if we try for 3:00pm for a quick meet and then we will know what each other looks like and maybe some of us can hook back up for the sail away party. Then we can see where we stand from there. (who has what seating / rotation ect.) We should have been able to get into our rooms by then and had time to look around and get settled. We won't have a lot of time but at least we will know what each other looks like so that we aren't passing each other in the hall all day & not knowing it.

Castoff- if you are planning your wedding then maybe we could you could leave you a message (you would have to tell one of us your room #) telling you about where we are going to try and be for the sail away party.

Am I being naive thinking that we can find a place to meet for the sail away party if we go right after the life boat drill?

Maybe we could all try and get a Home Depot Mickey Head to use as a pin or necklace (how big are they) and that would help identify us.

I am just thinking out loud. Let me know what you guys think.

We would very much like to join your tag game. It's sounds like a lot of fun. We're on deck 8. We're still trying to figure out transportation to the Port. We've paid Disney transfer fees, however, we would like to get to the port early. Any suggestions?? We're also staying in Port Canaveral after the cruise for a couple days to visit Kennedy Space Center and take an airboat trip.

Any suggestions how to reserve an illuminations boat cruise?

Also our DS13 wants to know if the Teen Junkaroo is worth it-any suggestions.

Welcome Packers04. You're on our deck! Glad you can join us. I don't know what the Teen Junkaroo is or I would try to help you out. I do have a couple of teenage sons myself though. It'll be good to have others their age at the meet.

Tina - That was thoughtful. Thanks for the link.

I'm thinking of trying to leave WDW between 9:30 and 10:00. I want to be on board ASAP, but I don't want to hit the big crowd and wait in line. I also think we'll enjoy the terminal since it's supposed to be so pretty.

Anyone have a time estimate on driving to the port? We drove out to NASA a couple of years ago from WDW, but I don't remember how long it took us. So, I'd been planning on a hour and a half, thinking that we'd probably stop for gas, too. Sound about right?

beccas334
10-25-2004, 08:28 AM
I think we're planning on heading out around the same time as well. I'll have plenty of time to head to Animal Kingdom to get my birthday button that day (that's the biggest bright spot to turning 30, aside from the cruise!), and still make it to the port relatively early.

They have different buttons at the various parks, I figured since we're staying at AK that day, I'd just go to there to get one. But thinking about it now, I'll probably head over to MK and get one since it's the park that has Early Entry that day.

and yes, it's actually my birthday on boarding.. now I can pretend that the whole sail away party is one huge birthday party for me

Welcome all our new families, we've really become active with less than a month to go. And a sail away party for your birthday!!!!

I've got to go about making up this magnetic sign for the door. Being an accountant, I'm not much of the creative type. DD will be home for the weekend, seems this semester she's home just about every other weekend; whenever the laundry piles up I guess. Maybe she can help with a design.

I had suggested a meet outside of scoops because it is up in the fresh air and we can head right over to the sail away. I don't remember how long it was from the safety drill to the party, but we've never missed a party! Of course we don't want to rush the meet or avoid the meet to start partying. Trying to hook up in Parrot Cay could work, understanding that the families will be boarding at different times based on when we arrive in port. We're real flexible with whatever is best with everyone.

We fly on the 20th Is anyone flying on the 21st? From the sounds of the posts most will be over at WDW beforehand.

I like the scoops idea. I didn't realize it was outside, but that's nice. Also, ICE CREAM! Can I get a Mickey Bar there?

NJHOO - the meet was your idea, so pick a time and place and those that can't make it take my last name with them and call my cabin when they get a chance. How about that?

Lets get a count of how many will be at WDW before the cruise and for how long? Where is everybody staying and have you decided which parks to do what day? Anything special planned at WDW(character breakfasts, ect)?

I will start:

Orlando airport area hotel - November 17th
Port Orleans - Riverside - November 18th - November 21

Still trying to figure what parks which day - I think my Uncle is coming on Saturday to be with us and I think he will want to do MK. He is supposed to be staying and driving us to the Port on Sunday morning.

Was going to do character breakfast but decided to save it for a time when we aren't going on a cruise few days later. I have never been to Downtown Disney so maybe we will check that out.

Why don't we say that we will all wear our Mickey heads and will look for each other in Parrot Cay, if we chose to eat there when we get on(if we haven't already met in the terminal with our birthday pin, wedding dress and strategically placed Mickey heads).

Then anyone who can meet after the life boat drill at scoops to grab a ice cream and go over to the sail away . Anyone who can't make that should be able to spot a bunch of short people with kids taller then (or almost taller then) their Mom's who have Mickey Heads on their butts at the sail away party.

OK Tina, I won't find out your room # but I'll find you quickly enough anyway.

11-18 - Grand Floridian - most of those days at MK
18-21 - Beach Club Villas - most of the time @ Epcot
We plan to leave BCV by 9:30 or 10:00 on boarding day.
After the cruise, we'll be at the Polynesian for Thanksgiving weekend. (Luau for T'giving dinner)

I really like Downtown Disney (DTD), but my family could take it or leave it. The Lego store is great and so is the World of Disney store. It's nice to walk along the water and window shop. Oh, we found a good pin trading shop, too. Can't remember where it was along the path or what it was called. Someone mentioned there was a good bath shop. I'm going to look for that. Yes, they are supposed to feed through your printer. They look like a regular piece of typing paper, but the back has a super thin sheet of maget on it.

Once I set my printer to thick paper (like I use when I print on card stock), it printed just fine.

I bought my pack at Walmart for about $7 or $8. It has 5 81/2 x 11 sheets.

Avery labels #3270 for those of you that just want to order or be able to tell the office store worker.

Tina - thanks for the tips, except then I spent another hour on that thread. This is so addictive. I will try to start working on my door magnets in the next few days.

Here is a funny story - my family(mother, sisters) gave me suitcases for my birthday - they gave me two and then said oh yeah we know how you pack and brought in a third one. Of course, if I fill them and bring them on the cruise I will probably have to leave one of my kids home. :hyper:

Did the kindergarten cupcakes today:crazy: - that is an experience. Of course they were yellow tweety cupcakes and now my fingers are stained yellow. I sure there was a lot of mothers not happy with me today - yellow hands and red kool-aid (they had Chuckie Cheese coupons on the red ones)

Tina,

Thank you for keeping up the list, maybe we should keep the sign with the delivered luggage so we don't become the first hit. Of course getting tagged is not like being voted off the island in "Survivor"

You must be getting so excited with the wedding coming up within a month now.

I think I mentioned earlier that DD wanted a WDW wedding, but it didn't happen. Instead went for a Disney themed reception. The tables didn't have numbers but were named after Disney animated Films. Making up the table signs and placecards was quite a chore. Of course the bride & groom figures on the cake were minnie & mickey! She's a former cast member.

Sounds like just about everyone is headed to the Sunshine before the cruise. We gave DD the option, but she didn't want to hit the parks before hand. As we are getting closer to the date wish that we had insisted. Those of you that are enjoy it.

becca - I get the look all of the time lately. Just wait until they get on the ship and see all the fun that they have because of all of the things that gave us the look for.

Did anyone else have someone send a postcard to their kids. Mine got one yesterday from Mickey and Cinderella - they loved it. It was even written and signed in perfect Mickey writing. They both argued over who was going to take it to school first.

Can we start packing yet - its driving me  - the time just isn' t moving fast enough.

Linda, we decided to opt out of getting the post card for our son, simply because he doesn't know we're taking the trip! I made the HUGE mistake last time telling him we were going to WDW a month before we went, and every single morning I heard "is it time to go to Disney?" It got old real quick

So, we're not planning on telling him until we're actually IN the car on the way! And I won't even come out and tell him, I'll let him think we're going to grandmas! (both are quite a distance away) :smooth:

Norman,

Welcome aboard!!! My daughter just turned 5 yesterday - maybe my dd & your dd will hit it off and have someone to play with. I also have a ds (7) but he is not into sports at all. I can't tell you about the clubs because this is our first cruise with the kids. I hope you will join our game of tag - just give your deck # and make a magnet. Also try and make the meet and then the kids will get to meet outside of the club.

A little bit bigger then a checkbook size box if you know what I mean. Inside the brown cardboard box is a flimsy brown box that has it decorated with the name wonder on it St. thomas, castaway ect. Inside the box is all the goodies. It's called your travel booklet. Ok, here we go again - I've been reading a lot of posts with people saying that they have to rush back from the lifeboat drill in order to get a spot up front for the sail away party. For those that have been on this cruise before - do we have time to meet at scoops and still get the kids up front? If not, then do we pick a spot to meet for the sail away party? I'm sorry to open this back up again but I don't the kids to miss out (and you all will hear her if my daughter doesn't get to be right up front:earseek:

Sailaway party is at 4:30-5:15 Deck 9 Mid ship

You also have to return your life jackets to your room.

I will be doing wedding stuff till at least 3:30 but no earlier then 1:00. So you guys take it from there. Since Russ is the one who set it up........... maybe he wouldn't mind setting up a poll with different options? Again Russ I don't want to step on any toes it's just a suggestion. The after life boat drill for the meet was just a suggestion, we can work with whatever is decided. Tina, unless I'm in bare feet or sandals, please feel free to step on my toes. LOL You will most likely have the busy afternoon with finalizing the wedding plans. All we need to do is walk on the ship, eat some lunch and start the relaxing.

Perhaps an afternoon long meet? Those who are in Parrot cay and recognize each other at lunch can start it and then up on deck at about 3:15-3:30 until we have to go get our jackets for the drill. When the wedding planning is finished Tina and family can join us and we can blow bubbles or throw rice to (or at) the happy couple.

On another note, looked for any digital pictures of DD's reception set up or cake on the web site....no luck. maybe we can scan a few of the pictures and post them.

Welcome Norman and I hope that everyone gets healthy in the next few weeks and the germs stay away from all.

Anyone jealous? I didn't think so.

Now that I have a couple of minutes though, I don't see the Bahamas Immigration Form in the pack. I'm sure it's in the booklets, but I can't tell which one it is.

It took me a minute to find the luggage tags, too. We'll blame that on sleep deprivation.

I bought a duffle bag to carry on the ship for the first day, but now I see the restrictions and the bag is a couple of inches over them. Think they'll mind?

Tina,
So very sorry that you're sick! At least you are getting it over with now and not dealing with it on vacation. I've been thinking about the fact that we've all been well for months, so you KNOW our time is coming.

Becca,
So sorry to hear your husband may miss part of your vacation. We're in the same situation. I'll be in WDW alone with my kids from the 14th - 18th. My hubby insists on coming back to Austin for a few days during our Grand Floridian stay. He just doesn't want to be away from his business that long. So, we are all driving out there together and then he'll fly back here and then back there, stay @ BCV, go on the cruise, stay @ Poly and drive back with us. Seems complicated to me. He loves this idea, but I hate that he's missing my favorite hotel. I could just move in to the GF. I think he's also glad that I'm taking the kids to MK for a few days in there.

Hello Everyone!

We got our docs today from AAA! Yea!! We're excited - we're looking at renting a car to drive to the port. We found out that if we take the bus we wouldn't get picked up until 12 or 12:30. The disney rep. said the boat won't board until 1:00 - we thought we could board earlier - who knows? We would like to get to the terminal early- Who knows what time the terminal opens and is the 1:00 boarding time correct?

Anyway my DW is getting all the tag materials this weekend and Leslie got some great ideas from the packing web site - thank you who posted that.

My 2 older DS and I are wondering if there will be access to broadscast football games - we're following Green Bay even though this isn't their year.

Take care everyone and stay healthy.
Ironically my whole family got flu shots in early Sept. due to the fact my DS13 always gets the vaccine due to a heart disorder (ASD) he had repaired at age two . We all feel a little guilty about getting the vaccine when there is such a shortage.

Packers04 - I didn't realize that the Disney transfer left that late, but then again, you don't have to stand in the line for paperwork since you can get yours done at check in to the hotel. You could rent a car or there are Town Car companies that will drive you there. Don't know the price, but if you'd have to park the rent car and pay for those days, the Town Car might be a feasible alternative.
Congrats on the documents.
On the football question, I don't know, but you could ask at the cruise desk at your resort when you get there.

Tina - Sorry to hear you are still sick. Maybe you are extra sick because you are trying to do so much with the vacation planning and the wedding planning, etc. Rest, rest, rest!

We have a whole change of plans as of about 5:00 this evening.

1. DD #1 found out that she has off 11/24 so she will be flying from Dulles to Melbourne on that day. My dad will pick her up at airport.

2. Dad, after 25 years living on the barrier island (with not a single hurricane) decided that 2 in a month was too much for them and so they are moving inland to a 55+ community. That translates into no at home thanksgiving dinner. Also we won't be there before the cruise.

3. Trying to decide where to stay on the 20th, in the WDW area or out to the coast. Flight gets into MCO at 1:00 so we just don't see a need to spring for on site and a trip to one of the parks. Please understand that we've been to WDW 1-2 times per year since 1974. Thinking of maybe doubletree at the village with dinner at Fultons?

Good part is that we're obviously still cruising and get to have 2 out of 3 DD with us for the holiday. WOW -- just received an e-mail form TA they put the docs in priority mail today!!!!!

Back to our group, I hope that all are feeling better before the travels begin and the germs don't spread through the family.

Packers04. it seems that just about on every ship we've been on there is something of a sports bar, or at least the games. I believed that DCL has removed the ESPN club. They always had games on the bank of TVs. I was a big Packers fan back in the late 60s early 70s. Now just into college football.

Becca, sorry about the leave cancel, what branch of service? SIL is USAF; they were scheduled to go to a wedding at WDW in 2002 and his leave was canceled - she had to go without him.

22 days to go!!!!!!!
Russ

DisneyNotes

Wow, that is change! Glad you're still cruising. I'll have to agree with your dad. I'd move to a safer area, too.

You won't have much time before the cruise. Why don't you save a little $$$ on the hotel for the 20th and then SPEND IT on the cruise? Sounds fun to me. If you stayed near the coast, it would make the next morning more relaxed. I wouldn't know where to eat out there though. We're not familiar with the area at all.

The countdown marches on!

Russ: DH is in the Air Force as well.

We'll find out more this week (hopefully!) if he'll have to go or not. I'm hoping he doesn't, because I don't want to do the 7 hour drive with just me and DS (although, I'd have control of the radio.. so maybe it wouldn't be THAT bad ;) )

Am I the only one who hasn't gotten their docs yet? I'm anxiously awaiting that magical email from my TA saying the docs have been sent...

Don't know if football will be broadcasted, but my DH said he's not taking chances on missing the final NASCAR race, so he's planning on bringing our XM boombox radio on the ship to listen to it.

Hello All-

Tina I hope your're feeling better -

Russ - I also liked the "old" Packers too.
We're big UCLA fans. My DS13 is on a youth team - Packers. They're undefeated in league play and will play Super Bowl against the Patriots on 11/13.

Thanks for the info on games and t.v.

Becca - Maybe we can listen in on NASCAR race.

We're so excited about our trip that we're actually looking at leaving a day earlier if we can work out details with United. They've changed our flights so much we're going to try to work with them. This way when we land from the red eye trip from LA when not exhausted to start our land part of the trip. Adding a day at BC seems pricey so we're also trying to work with our TA.

Does anyone know if Disney ever does room upgrades? We booked via AAA and are having some regrets rather than boolk directly with DCL. Any advantages to booking and paying off trip earlier?

Are there any ways to fax room requests when you're part of the land/sea package. Just curious.

We hope all is well with everyone. We're going to have a dry Halloween here-no rain. Kids are always off Nov. 1st from school for a school district
staff development day.

This is getting long - and we still have
pumpkins to carve, suit cases to pack, papers to grade, life goes on--

Take care,

Dennis & Leslie

Hiya!

I'll be on the Wonder on the 21st as well... with DH, DS (8), and DD (6) (who look like they'll be meeting some of your kids at some point in the clubs :-)

We'll also be with my in-laws and one of DH's siblings (and family), as a mini-family reunion/get-together. So, unfortunately, that leaves me out for socializing much, outside that group....

However, Tag sounds fun (we're supposed to be on deck 7... I'll figure out some way of getting "cozit" on the door), and I'll probably try to find some of you at some point on the first day. Hmm... we've early seating, I think... the original reason was for a niece who can't join us after all, so that could change.

No mickey head for me, DH thinks I'm insane enough for being excited about the trip for the last year. But like the descriptions I saw when glancing through, I'm short (5'2") with dark hair, and rather oriental (or Sioux depending on your POV) looking... hair will either be quite long, or just to shoulders... it's going to Locks of Love soon. Most likely my DD will be in tow unless she's with kids groups... both kids sway between very shy, and very interested in what other kids are doing.

Garfield 29 - Thank you for the info on upgrades. We heard AKL is wonderful-our TA said she thought this was one of the newest hotels. She suggested we try Jiko's restaurant so we made PS for Thursday night. Our boys wanted to stay there but we wanted to be able to walk to Epcot and take advantage of the pools at BC.

Well it's almost Nov. 1st-We're almost there. Take care everyone:)

Welcome Cozit !:wave2: I will add you to our list of tag your it.

I have missed the boards and had to come and peek.:( I am still sick. I don't know what the heck is going on with me. Dry toast just isn't cutting it anymore. I will give in and call Doctor tomorrow, Chuck not going on the road.............he will be home. You guys have started to pack already and I haven't even finished wedding stuff yet. I sleep on and off because I feel to weak. Still can't keep anything in me. I know there is a bight side............I could have gotten sick the day before the cruise. I only hope Chuck doesn't get it. My kids had it but not nearly as bad as me.

Take care..........I will keep you updated. Tina
