Tina,
You'll get it all done. Don't worry. The energy will return.
We've had lots of problems crop up here, too. No illnesses, but I'm sure that's on the horizon. I feel like I'm behind. Maybe all of this rush will make us feel like we NEED and DESERVE this vacation even more!

Welcome aboard Cozit!!!
Tina - I was getting really worried about you when we didn't hear from you for a few days. Glad that you are starting to feel better.
I still do not have my docs:( TA says she will call as soon as she gets them.
I have to start packing and working on my door signs. Hope all is well with everyone. I am starting to get really stressed - too much to get done.

Shelley,
Oh I know what you mean ! Make sure you rest at night. I am not getting near anyone who is sick. I am sure that is one of the reasons why I got it. Lack of sleep made my resistance so low. Once we are on the ship everything will fall into place.:Pinkbounc :bounce: Sorry to hear your having ups and downs to. The ship will be sailing before you know it.:sunny: Tina

I can't believe it's November already! Time is flying by so quickly. We found out today that DH will NOT get any of his leave cancelled (of course, that can change at any moment) so I'm happy to say he won't miss out on anything.
Still no docs, but the TA said she'll let me know when she sends them out (Just like Linda's!)

Welcome Cozit, glad to hear that everyone is feeling better, esp the bride.
Our docs arrived yesterday, haven't had the chance to look at them yet. This is usually my slower time of the year at work, but it's been extremely busy. Had a whole bunch of projects assigned lately. The best part is that getting away really means getting away.
DD # 2 has been lurking on our thread and doesn't understand why I didn't announce that she is expecting our first grandchild in March. She's the former CM and is already planning his first trip to DL in September.
DD# 3 who is going with us wanted to know if the game of tag could be changed into the game of "assasins" -- reminded her it is DISNEY -- her response we could use disney stickers! Oh to be a college student again. It would be great if she was the first to be "tagged'
Well the trip is almost here, pretty soon we'll have to start planning the next one. All have a good day and don't forget to vote.

Good morning to all.
Last night, I dreamed that I left all of the suitcases full of clothes at home! I'm guessing that means that I'm concerned that I haven't closed up the suitcases and stacked them by the door. So, today is the day. Work, work, work and then a restful night tonight.

I have nothing packed, my door signs are not even started and I haven't gone to HD to pick up my Mickey Heads yet. I need to get it together. To make it worse I am the PTA Treasurer and I need to file the taxes before the 15th and I haven't even started. OK, now that I have gotten that all out I am really panicking. I am glad that you are feeling much better though.
Oh yeah, and I have to vote & grocery shop today.
Russ - Congrats!!! How exciting!!!
Becca - Yeah, I will keep my fingers crossed that nothing changes.
Shelly - Even though you are leaving a few days in front of me you are so far ahead of me. So take a deep breath and relax. It will all get done.

:p I said you should have told everyone you were getting a namesake, a grandson! Baby Russ is due in late March, around the 27th.
I searched through my wedding photos, but only found this one of the placecards:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4cf22b3127cceaa4c11a8b5a70000001610
It's not a great shot (Dad took it :p ) but you can kinda see each name had a small character beside it. Then the tables had a logo from the movie instead of a number. And all the random figurines I got from McDonald's were lining the table.

Greetings to all -
My family will be on the 11/21/04 Wonder sailing as well! I've just wasted 2 hours reading ALL the posts in this thread and feel like I know you all! HELLO!
My family consists of myself (Deb), DH, DS-11 and DD-9. We will be on deck 6 and would love to join the game of tag!
We will try to find the Green Mickey Pins at Home Depot and will have a door magnet on our door.
I just got our documents yesterday - so don't fret yet for those of you without documents.
I read on a board somewhere that you could carry on Bottled Water / soda. But, Disney says no coolers with sodas, etc. I read that you had to have it as a carry on , not checked....anyone know the real scoop on this..... We drink lots of bottled water and I'm thinking this is an area where you can save $$.....
Finally, would love to meet on day of sailing - where and when is the meeting time?
Thanks all!

The green Mickey's are the paint samples in the paint department at Home Depot.
I'm checking a suitcase of bottled water at the dock and then I'll fill it with souvenirs for the way home. Although I don't know if there's an actual rule for this, I do know that a friend of mine checked a suitcase of bottled water and it was fine.

Is anyone from the Del/NJ/Phila area? I heard on a WPVI commerical today that Karen Rogers (newscaster) will be reporting from the Wonder at the Thanksgiving Day Parade. I'm wondering if she'll be on our cruise, as the parade airs 8:30 - 12:30 p.m. and since we will just be disembarking that morning, and the next cruise passengers won't be boarding until noon, I "wonder" if she'll be taping segments on our cruise?????
Did anyone else see this commercial or know any more info?

Hi ya'll
Been lurking for a while just reading and making lists and such. I think I gave you the wrong deck We're on deck 6 not 5. The room number starts with a 6, so that's deck 6 right? (Can you tell it's our first cruise?)
Sorry, my fault. We're definitely on for the tag. I need to get my green mickey paint chip too.
My DD's, 12 and 10 are really excited and the 10 year old is especially interested in meeting up with all of the kids from the board. My 12 year old is pretty shy for a while but will warm up nicely.
We don't have any Doc's yet, But the land/sea reservations were made by my folks and I think they have them. We're flying in from Balto to Orlando Nov 17th and headed to Animal Kingdom Lodge and the parks first thing Thursday.
Got my door signs all set. Made a set for my folks too.

Shelley: My thoughts exactly !
I just had an idea I would like to share....... Is anyone planning on doing the palo brunch? It is only on the sea day. I was planning on doing it at 11:00 am since we are doing Palo dinner that night. It is part of our wedding package. If people are interested we could link our reserations together? There is a fee. I think 10.00 per person. Not sure. No kids allowed. I do get concierge service with my wedding package who will be taking care of all of my reservations. So I will meet with this person on the first day of the cruise and hopefully it shouldn't be a problem. If there is an interest I can call the wedding coordinator now to see if I can do this. Tina

I think that you stole the idea from Shelley but it is a good one. I was going to do brunch also and I think it would be great to get together and celebrate. I am trying to figure out what night to eat at Palo. I don't know if I want to eat at Palo on the last night because I think the kids might want to have dinner with us that night. I'm thinking about skipping Parrot Cay for dinner. What is everybody else doing?

Well, I figured we'd have Parrot Cay twice anyway and so we might skip a night there. I've read where families with the youngest 7-10 get this rotation. I wish we knew our rotation now. It would make a difference in what I wore on boarding day and what I packed in my carry on bag. Guess I'm not one for surprises. I'm more of a planner. I can't commit to the Palo brunch until I see if my 9 year old wants to be in the club for his age and then it will probably be too late to get reservations.

11-05-2004, 09:32 AM
Let me this if I can explain this.......... Palo's for us was supposed to be only on wedding day. Because kids can't go we said no way. They are very much apart of all of this and we wanted to have dinner with them. So we worked out a dining rotation out with Disney already............that gives us Tritons on our wedding day because it's a little bit more fancy. Our last night of cruise is Palo's because that would be 2nd time for AP. Kids would be having dinner with grandma. Chuck and I woould get our romantic dinner alone. I don't mind having Palo's twice in one day. As far as you leaving your kids alone...........They could eat with the other kids in the club for lunch or dinner. Parrot Cay is the most casual place. I hope this makes sense. Tina

It wasn't all workers - bus drivers, housekeeping, costume characters and a few others. All they are doing at this time is possibly giving the union the right to strike if negotiations fail. My mother woke me up with the news this morning. She read it in the Syracuse newspaper.
DisneyNotes
11-05-2004, 10:25 AM
I hadn't heard about the possible strike but just looked up the Orlando Press article from this morning. It says something like - WDW and union agreed Thursday to a tentative contract that will likely avert a strike at the theme park resort.
Union leaders will recommend contract approval to its members when they vote on it next Thursday.
Sounds good enough, but I wish they weren't voting on it the day we leave! That timing's a little too close for comfort.
Palo brunch thing - I'm at a disadvantage with leaving the kids in the club. I'm starting to feel ok about it, but since we don't leave them (and I mean NEVER, not even with a sitter - ever), it may make the brunch not so relaxed for me. Even on other cruises, it never occured to me to try the kids programs. We just did everything as a family. When my teens got older, they would go off on their own, but it was their decision. This is what I'm hoping will happen with my youngest son and the club. I've heard nothing but rave reviews of the kids programs. I'm looking forward to a new situation here and hope we all enjoy it.

Jeannine,
From the main board, sounds like the dress code for brunch is "resort casual". With that in mind, my DH will likely wear nice shorts/pants (not jeans) and a polo shirt, and I'll most likely wear a skirt and sweater.

Hi Jeannine: From what I have read on the other board it is resort casual. Some people have even worn shorts to brunch. I have heard the Brunch is a NOT TO MISS EVENT. They give you mim mosa's o.k I know I didn't spell that right. Tell him about the food. All the breakfast and lunch items are fantastic. Of course you can't beat the view or the company:teeth: Hows that? Tina

Hi Tina
It's so considerate of you to include all of us in your brunch idea. Please count Leslie and I in. 11/24 is our actual anniversary day and we were thinking of doing the brunch so we could spend evening with our boys celebrating. Please let us know what we need to do. Thank you again

Becca - does that mean that you told you're son about the trip?
Tina - It was becca's idea for the sharpie and I think that it is a great idea. I am thinking about looking for stick on velcro to attach to the paper and the pen.
My MIL gave me a bunch of squares to get signatures on and then she will put pictures from the cruise together with them and make us a quilt.
Look's like we are going to have a lot to celebrate at lunch - birthday, anniversary, wedding!!!
I'm going to spend the weekend doing the PTA taxes until they are done and then it is packing full speed ahead.

Linda, I told him I have a BIG surprise for him coming up. He's narrowed it down to Disney, the ship and the beach. Little does he know, it's all three! As the days go, I'm giving him little hints here and there, with the "final revealing" on the night of the 16th. He has a school concert that night, and I'll tell him on the way home
I *love* the quilt idea! That's such a neat idea, and a great souvenir to have!
I've started packing tonight. Since we just stopped wearing shorts this past week (it's gotten COLD in Southern 'bama!), I think it's fairly safe to go ahead and pack those. If I don't hear from my TA by monday, I'll be giving her a call to see where those darned docs are!
hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hmm... Without knowing what they look like... what about attaching it to the door handle with a really long piece of yarn or string? If you can't attach it to that, I'm sure there's something that it can be attached to. Heck, maybe even the velcro... just attach it to the door itself! (or a small piece of magnet maybe? Not sure if it'd be strong enough to hold...) I'm planning on doing a trial run with the pen/magnet on my fridge this week :jester:

I have a very busy day planned. Chuck got home last night. He goes back on the road Monday so we need to use our time this weekend wisely. I have the Halloween decorations all packed up. We are making a trip to the storage place. ( I hate going there) getting all the Christmas stuff out. At least 3 car trips. lol Chuck will set up are tree while I do the other decorating. He has some reports to do. I have to pick up my ring after 6 to see if it fits o.k. I have my DD stuff layed out all on her bed and hope to get her packed this weekend.
I am going to pack up the box that I am shipping to my Mom. I think Chuck is going to attempt to try and clean up the yard if the weather holds out.

Oddly enough, I'm missing the Bahamas stuff (as a few others have mentioned). It's been added to the list of things to check on with DCL in the next couple of days...

Linda: I passed it with an 86 (not bad for not actually studying! ) I was so happy. Now I have to get the rest of my classwork done before the 17th... that's the good/bad thing about distance education, while there's a LOT more work to do with the class, you know what has to be done by a certain date.
I may have the Mickey head here at the house somewhere. I remember getting them at Home Depot, but can't remember what I did with it!
Tina: I asked DH if we could get our christmas decorations out.. I got "the look". He said "it's BARELY November!" But we did go see Polar Express this afternoon (the base had a free sneak preview!) I highly recommend it to get into the holiday spirit.
Speaking of spirit... DH is finally starting to get it! He came home with new luggage this afternoon! I was shocked. Now if I can only sweet talk him into taking me down to the outlet stores 2 1/2 hours away so I can shop at the Disney outlet...

Hi again...........As we were able to get all the Christmas decorations to the house and it was a chore. You would not believe me if I told you how much I had. Chuck was putting up the tree and said you know Tina your right I am glad we are doing this now because I wouldn't want to do this when we get back.:) My house looks like a magical wonderland !!! Even the bathroom has a theme and is decorated. I am almost done, hopefully will finish today. I was so busy decorating that Chuck picked up my ring and brought it home.   The ring did fit. However there was a problem that I can't believe nobody noticed. I have 2 bands both with 5 diamonds then my engagement ring goes between them. They were putting them all together and sizing the bands to the engagement ring. Well I tried the ring on a noticed one of the diamonds in the band just sticking out not just a little either. Chuck brought it back.....diamond now loose. they are going to fix. Hope to get next week.:( They couldn't believe they missed it either. Every year I do a different them on my tree........ This year it is an angel tree. Everything on the tree is some kind of angel ornaments. The tree always gets every branch with an ornament. Gold bows also. Chuck put 4 strands of lights on. Have a great day everyone !! Tina :wave2:

In case your wondering why I do a different theme on my Christmas tree every year here's the answer............ It started about 6 years ago. I wanted to start a new tradition with my children and something that I could pass down to them for when they get older, Every year at Christmas time we pick a theme. Last year it was snowman. So the tree was all different kind of snowman ornaments. Now last year we decide on this years theme.......it was angels. The day after Christmas and the days to follow you can get great deals on ornaments . I have found alot for as little as 1.00. So I buy most of my ornaments for nexts years theme after Christmas. Then when Christmas rolls around...It's so much fun to open them up and put them on the tree because your seeing them for the first time on the tree.:sunny: When they are old enough and in a place of there own .......imagine how many ornaments they will be able to have and memories to last a lifetime. This Christmas we will decide on next years theme. In the past I have had a teddy bear theme, Memorie where there was nothing but photo's in frames on the tree. I had a Dolphin tree. With Chuck traveling so much you wouldn't believe the ornaments he comes home with. lol Tina

Tina - fun Christmas trees! We only put our formal tree up last night. It takes forever, but looks the same every year with glass ornaments and beads and millions of white lights. We go crazy for Christmas and put a tree in every room. So glad the ring fit, but too bad about the loose stone.

Tina - so glad you found the loose stone now. I lost a sapphire out of my ring once and a small diamond. It is the worst feeling. I love the tree idea but I have a hard enough time just getting one tree up with the decorations that I have had for a long time. Actually we do use mainly home made decorations - we have ones on the tree that I made in kindergarten and so on.
Shelley - 75 people:eek: I can't even begin to imagine. That would be great if you could mail me one. I will pm you with my address. Great news on the soccer and the decorating. I may try to decorate next weekend depending on how the packing is going.

Tina - I found dry erase markers with magnets attached at Wal-mart. I bet they would still work on regular paper. I also bought some magnet dry erase boards to put on the door but that won't work for a scrapbook.
My husband kind of baucked(spelling) at the idea of the brunch but then I told him that there was all you could eat shrimp & crab legs and he said ok.
I dug out the swim shoes and bought a few things at the store today. Of course I have already thought of tons of things that I forgot.

Hi all,
This has been one heck of a weekend, first off, both Tennessee and Miami lost; with that UVa moved up to #10 in the AP rankings and is sitting on the top of the ACC! Next big game is saturday when we host Miami. Let's hope for some nice chilly weather - those guys from south Florida don't play too well in the cold.
Friday night we picked up the magnetic paper, just need to design a door sign. Also went to the HD and picked up the chips, it is the mickey head on a card, now what are we supposed to do with it? I know none of you want to hear this, but we usually pack the night before. We'll start getting some of the stuff set out earlier, but using our packing list, it really goes rather quickly.
We're going to wait until we get home to start the christmas decorating. It turns out that DD only has one class the following week and the prof canceled. The majority of the students in her program are going to the carribean on a work project, so those classes were already rescheduled. I think we'll use the time to decorate. We do 2 trees. One is all the ornaments we've collected on our trips....hence "travel tree" We enjoy collecting and try to be very original in what we select.
Tina, we're interested in the Palo brunch at 11:00. Please let us know what we need to do. Thank you for including the disboard friends. We're also going to try to make dinner reservations that night too.
Linda, trying to figure out what taxes you need to do for the PTA -- federal form 990? If so, it is difficult and there is discussion in making it even more onerous.
As to this weekend's difficulty, yesterday afternoon dad advises that they feel that things may be too stressful for them to have us come make them dinner on thanksgiving. Since 6:30 last night I've changed a plane reservation for DD#1, she's now flying into MCO. Canceled our rental car, rented her a car for Wednesday - Friday. Booked the Double Tree for 11/20, the Dolphin for 11/25, Comfort Inn in Cocoa Beach for her on 11/24 and priority seating at Le Chefs de France on thanksgiving. It certainly won't be a traditional thanksgiving dinner, but we certainly will be eating well.
In two weeks we'll be getting ready to push away from the dock. Do you think I'll need a vacation by then?
Russ & Ethel
zack&alexmom
11-07-2004, 05:02 PM
Russ - yes, it is 990ez (ez being quite ironic). Next year I am hoping to find a tax accountant to donate their time to complete. I have a degree in accounting but taxes are just not my thing.
Sorry about all of the Thanksgiving changes but you will be with family, and that is really what is the most important.
As far as the Mickey head - they changed them and put them on white paper - you can cut out the Mickey head and wear as is or scan into computer and enlarge and printout on cardstock. We were going to use to identify each other.
Two weeks from today - can't wait to meet you all.

Hi All!
So sorry I haven't posted for so long. I feel so 'out of the loop'. :(
We got our docs (yay!), but still waiting for my sister's. She's taking the place of my MIL (who decided not to come due to medical problems). We did all these changes the day before the 30 day mark, and glad to know that we didn't have to pay any penalty charges or name change fees.
I finished my magnetic door signs. I had trouble printing the sheets on my printer (still having trouble), so I used my brother's printer instead. He kept asking me what it was for. He just gave me that "you're crazy" look after I told him. They don't understand....
Since there are 7 of us + 1 (sister), I'm trying to limit our baggages. Is it safe to assume that we'll mostly be wearing shorts, shirts and bathing suits during the day? We're also staying by the port (Ron Jon's) for a couple of days before the cruise. Will it be warm enough for shorts? Sorry...not too familiar with Florida weather. I don't want to bring extra clothes (mainly long pants, long sleeves) if I don't have to.

Nerissa,
The weather in florida should be warm enough to wear shorts. I would probably pack a sweater or light jacket for the nights, and maybe one pair of pants if it gets too chilly. The temps right now are in the mid 70's to low 80's during the day, with the nights around 60.
For me, personally... it's 60 out right now, and I'm freezing. But of course, I live in Alabama, so I think my blood's use to warm temps!

Tina,
Take a deep breath and relax, the best way to maintain control is to just make a list of what you need to still do and carefully work through it. I was a nut over our daughter's wedding trying to make it so perfect. Of course it wasn't in the end, and they are still happily married. With a second wedding coming in May 2005 we are much more relaxed and are taking things one step at a time and not letting the small stuff get to us.
While we would love to share the Palo brunch with all of you, if there is anything of a number or too much to plan this out, we'd be more that willing to step aside. We are all headed to the south for a vacation for rest and relaxation.
We're getting a chuckle out of all the comments about the things you are doing with your children before heading out. Been there and have wonderful memories. After 8 years as a HS band parent (6 as VP) and many years as a swim team parent (ran the league for one summer) the stories could go on for ever.
The days are counting down, you NY folks don't send any of your snow our way. Becca, when DD was stationed at Columbus MS they used to tell us how cold it was at 60!
See you all soon. Russ & Ethel
BTW went through a whole day without a change in plans.

Tina - It will all work out one way or another. The only thing that matters is that the two(well four in your case) of you are together to be married. The rest is what it is!!! That being said - I was a freaking nut before my wedding so I can relate. Not everything will go perfect and you know what, those are the things that you will remember and laugh about for many years to come.
Jeannine - I know that I wished it would snow just a little before I left so that I really felt like we were getting away but I take it all back - snow go away!!!
I just had my son try on his shorts before I packed them - good thing I did - he has gained about 10lbs since school started (we really have to work on that after vacation) - well only a couple still fit. I guess I better bring some quarters and laundry detergent.
Hope all have a good night.

Russ: I never thought I'd say it... but down here, 60 IS cold :hyper: Of course, it's great to call the family back home in NY in January and find out they're digging their cars out of huge snow banks, and we're sitting in the front yard with shorts on
Tina: Sending some major pixie dust your way :wizard: Everything will work out!
Linda: I made DS try on his suit today, with a school concert coming up, I'm thankful he still fits in it! Little monster wears anywhere from a size 4 to a size 7/8! Buying clothes is just a nightmare for him!
I spent the day going back and forth to DH's work... his truck died on him this afternoon (we think it's the battery) then found out tonight that I need new tires on my car. I'm thankful we found out about the tires today rather than next week driving to Orlando!
Here's to an uneventful week/week and a half for everyone (except for Shelley, who's leaving in a few DAYS! I'm so jealous! Hope you have a great time down there!)

I just returned from the store to find all of these posts about children outgrowing clothing at the last minute. That's exactly what happened to me. My 16 yo son, who is thin as a rail and hasn't changed waist sizes in three years, suddenly needed new pants and shorts and his size 11 tennis shoes were too small. So, I'm back with 11 1/2 tennis shoes, 3 new pants and 3 new shorts. I'm already packed, so I'll have to replace the packed with the new in the morning.
Tina-when everything is quiet, make a list and then enlist help to get it accomplished. Neighbors, friends and family will be happy to help you, I'm sure. Hey, I've only been e-posting with you a short time and I'd be thrilled to help you. Need anything from Austin?
I'm with you Becca, 60 IS cold!

Well my ds is just gonna have to live with some tight shorts and I'm going to have to do some wash because there is no finding shorts in Central New York in November. I usually buy ahead but he is so hard to fit (big butt like the momma) that I've stopped doing that so much with him. Fortunately, my boss gave me about 12 pairs of swim trunks from her son. At least a couple are useable.
Tina - I agree with Shelley and I'm only a few hours down the road, so if I could help with something just let me know.
Becca - sorry about the cars. I hate cars!!! At least you are having the problems now and not on the way down.
On the up side - I made an appt for a pedicure on Thursday - at least my feet will be ready to go.
Goodnight to all

Hi All,
What a week we had! After all our planning and planning we all really need this vacation.
Tina - Thank you so much for thinking of all us Disboard members. What ever works out works out. You're really special considering all of us - everything will turn out fine.
We still haven't packed yet. I'm still coaching soccer and flag football. The football season ends Saturday. My DS 12 is in first place - undefeated so they play Super Bowl Saturday so does my DS8 . Eric's team party is Sunday. My DS6 game and team party is Saturday also-we hope it doesn't rain. It's not suppose to do that in Southern California you know. (remember the song!)
My DS is celebrating birthday 13 on 11/11 at Boulderdash-an indoor rock climbing place. We're having 15 of his friends celebrate and repel for 3 hours and then a sleep-over. We're all out of school to celebrate Veterans Day and Jared's birthday. My middle DS will turn 9 on 11/22.
We still have haircuts, packing, some shopping, Mickey heads to make, cleaning and of course work is getting in the way of all this planning - wouldn't you know.
Did you all know that 11/18 is Mickey's official birthday.
We wish everyone a relaxing week and
Shelly a wonderful send-off. Take care all.

Linda,
I didn't think about shorts not being available. Since we have shorts weather on and off all year around, the stores carry shorts all year long.
Tina,
Oh, the 60s were short lived. We're back into the mid 80s. The days are perfect and 80s feel down right crisp after our summer. Happy to send it your way.
Becca,
I feel your pain about the car. Last night, on my way to buy clothes for the kids, our van started making bumps while shifting. SO, we take it in today to have that repaired. They said they could have it ready in the morning. We leave the next day. I hope they get it fixed correctly. It's a 20 hour drive to Florida from our front door.
Packers04-Happy birthday to the rock climbing son! My husband coaches our 14 yo son's soccer team. That's the party we'll have on the night we leave.
Russ-it was nice to hear that one day we'll chuckle over the mad rush that is now our lives. Tennis, soccer, art classes, church activities, meetings, clubs, parties, etc. If we ever are at home for a few minutes, there's no peace since the teens all hang out over here. Wouldn't have it any other way though.
OK - I'm back to laundry and last minute preparations. Look at my counter!

Tina - don't worry about the brunch. Turns out that Joe's sister and hubby aren't planning to do *any* non-with-kids things, at least not in advance. And now Joe's having second thoughts about letting himself loose on such a big brunch choice (he's afraid he's going to gain too much weight no matter what he does on the trip, and he's been *trying* to lose a bit the last year and a half or so).
Oh... and the ring? It'll all work out one way or another in the end. My sister got married using her mother-in-law's ring, because fiance *and* best man managed to mislay *her* ring (they had his, but...) somewhere in the limo (and even with a rushed look out, in the middle of the ceremony, to find it they were unsuccessful... though it was found within 3 minutes of looking *after* the ceremony). Oddly enough, we found out later that just about the same thing had happened to her mother-in-law at *her* wedding... so we'll see what happens at others in that family's. Meanwhile, there's another family 'wedding story' to tell :-)
Hoping you get the one you want back *before* you leave, though!

Hi All,
Tina - Please include Leslie and myself for brunch -it will be an honor to celebrate our anniversary at your wedding celebration. In fact, Leslie suggested if you want a little red-haired 6-year old ring bearer - we'll lend Jackson out to you- I just don't know how he'll feel trading those swim trunks for more formal garb. Leslie cannot wait to meet everyone.
Shelly - We'll be at BC next Thur-Sun. We're doing MK Thursday and Epcot & AK Fri. and Sat. We'll have 2 red-haired boys and 1 brown hair boy in tow.
Linda- We're having tough times having our Scamper in a kennel so long. He's a
2 year old aussie- German shepard - wolf mix dog. Extremely pretty, smart and extremely gentle. We booked this kennel back in March. It's beautiful, outdoor pens, lost of free space - but Scampers has never been away from us more than 43 days.
We empathize losing a dog on a special day. The first New Year's after we were married - my wife's childhood dog was killed while we were in San Diego. Dinky stayed with my wife's family, however, accidents do happen. Needless to say we don't travel far even to this day on New Year's. This was devasting for my DW.
Becca - Leslie and I are both Navy brats. We were born on and lived on bases most of our childhood. In fact she rememberd cold mornings in Virginia and the oiil trucks and all. I only lived on the west coast and Hawaii so I can't relate to that.
Big day tomorrow with DS big 13. Relax and enjoy everyone and again Godspeed and safe travel Shelly.

Thanks for the info Shelley!
BTW, is anyone doing the pillow case/tshirt signing? I'm going to bring a light blue pillowcase, a laundry marker and a ziplock bag. I've heard you can give it to guest services, and they'll have all of the characters sign it.
They say it's for kids.. but hey! Who's to know the difference? ;)

We're doing t-shirt signing at Epcot. We'll ask someone from each country to sign.
Didn't know they offered that on the boat. Think we'll do that, too.

Dennis: Aw Your 6 year old (Jackson) would make a cute ring bearer. Even if he wore his swim trunks. I can see it now. My son says if he can wear his swim trunks why can't I ? lol We are getting off the ship at 9:30 if anyone happens to see us :wave2: we will be at the Head's up place at the other end of Castaway.
Garfield29: Sorry to hear you have a sick child. Pixie dust your way.:wizard: :wizard:
To everyone Else:...........More ring problems. I have been   The bands they got in are very different from the ones I had. I guess they are from a different vender. I am at a loss. I left there crying and upset. I wen't back later........the other thing that bothered me was the manager was suppose to be there and couldn't. I wen't back and dealt with the salesperson who sold us the ring. We are going to try the different bands and see if that works with the ring. I won't know till Monday. Not sure when I will get my ring. Aw the waiting. UPS came today and delivered wedding confirmation letter and nice disney honeymoon luggage tags. The brunch is listed in there. So don't anyone worry about it. We have to sign it and fax it back to them . I will do that on Monday. I will finally start to pack tomorrow. No if ands buts about it !!!!! Tina

Thanks Becca, I am better now. I just needed to vent. I had a surprise for Chuck and the kids.........DD found out then told DS and well then I couldn't keep it from Chuck. I made arrangements yesterday for a limo to take us to the airport and pick us up. We are about 30 to 35 min. from airport. Thought it would be a nice way to start and finsh our wedding/vacation. The kids have never been in a limo. They are excited. We have to leave at 6:30 AM. So much for surprises. Next week is totally going to be nuts around here !! Chuck wants to ship my wedding dress to hotel. He says NO WAY will it fit on airplane. He only saw bag.:( Well, I don't want to take a chance shipping it now????? I am sure other brides wen't on airplanes before me. Do you see how we are driving each other nuts? Tina, I'm with you... there's no way I'd trust shipping my wedding dress down to the hotel. I've seen what various shipping companies can and have done to various packages! The dress is just too precious to let them touch it. I just told DH about it... he agrees with us ;) Heck, we sent out a computer to my sister in law, and when she opened it up, it was practically in pieces! Had to fix it over the phone... was a mess. And that's just a computer!
I like the limo idea! If DH was going to have to go to atlanta and fly down to orlando, I was going to have a limo waiting for him at the airport. But fortunately, that's not a concern! I bet your kids are going to love it!
I need to make some lists tonight.. I know I'll end up forgetting SOMETHING!

Thank's for backing me up girls. I just keep telling Chuck what your opinions are about the dress. I won't let me husband bring a computer or that is all he would do while we were gone - he is a computer workaholic. Don't get him started talking about them on the cruise or you will never get him to shut up.
Jeannine - so sorry to hear about the car. It is such a horrible feeling but at least there was no injuries.
Tina - I am throwing some pixie dust your way. If anybody is going to get sick - let it be today - not three days from now. Stick to your guns about the dress. Maybe you should call the airline -better than being suprised. Sorry we are leaving you but you will be so busy you won't even notice.

dress update.........I am a 40 year old woman dressing like Cinderella going to the ball in case you didn't know.:) The dress in the garment bag is 73 inches long and 12 inches thick. I don't remember how wide. The slip is in a seperate plastic bag that has 3 layers to it and it is really think. I am like an onion that could be peeled over and over I will have so many layers !!:teeth: We did call the airlines and were told that they would try to put dress in closet. If they couldn't fit it in they would have to gate check it and it would go underneath with rest of luggage. I gave in after my Mom called and talked with Chuck and me. She works for the airlines and knows what my dress looks like. She doesn't think it will make it on the plane. We went to the ups store with dress and slip in hand. The lady is like:confused: and asks if we can fold the dress in half. I said no...........The ship is limited on there steaming with the dress I want to try and keep it wrinkle free and really don't want to ship it in the first place. I am against the idea. lol She calls the owner and explains the situation. The owner is going to meet me there personally on Monday morning. He is going to package it himself. The dress goes to one place then right in the air. I will be able to track it on line. It will take 2 days to get there. It will cost 285.00 to 300.00. I didn't ask if there was tax. I don't know how we are getting it home. I didn't even ask Chuck. Lol So I brought the dress back home. I will bring it back on Monday. Still look for me in the terminal. You really can't miss me. !! Less than one week!!!!!
Liz,
Have you ever tried the sea bands for the prevention of sea sick? I first tried a few years back and I'm glad I did. That way you can stay away from the medications.
Today I put just about everything out on a bed, Ethel will try to do hers during the week. DD is expected to arrive home noontime on Friday, the laundry will be busy and then figure out how to fit her belongings in. I try to go light, too many times we've carried stuff only to bring it home without using it.
We designed the door sign, don't like how the colors are looking on the home printer, will try tomorrow on the quality one in the office.
cozit

Thought about trying sea bands a few years back for carsickness (thankfully I only get carsick as a passenger, but...). However, I've never had the pressure points work for avoiding or stopping the queasiness, so I'm guessing that the bands wouldn't work for me.
(:) got the Dramamine, something to hold the paperwork all in one place (and tickets and other trip papers), and a few magnets to hold a small sign up (decided I wasn't going to spend $12 on 4 sheets of the magnetic stuff if I didn't need that much)
So all I have to do is keep up with the laundry so I can pack in a few days... and get out from under the boatload of stuff I need to do for my class before leaving (actually, doing it, rather than ignoring it like I wish I could... I'm starting to remember what bits I disliked about school before :-)

I do think I am cursed. Everything I seem to do for this trip goes wrong. I had my nails done and they were so bad that they had to be taken off and I had to pay someone else to do them again. I got a pedicure on Thursday night and the polish is all chipping off already (that has never happened before). I think I am getting a big cold sore right at the top of my mouth and I have a lot of stuff pulled out but nothing actually in a suitcase yet. Now I am ready for the counter to slow down a little.
I also realized that our flight will be from 11:15 until 3:50 with out getting off the plane. It is jet blue and they don't serve lunch. I am trying to think of ideas to bring for my husband and I (the kids are easy). I don't really like sandwiches that get smooshed around all day in my bag. Any ideas?

I keep saying take this and now this. Don't touch anything, use a seperate towel. You are lucky that you have a direct flight !!! I am sooooo jealous !! We have to get up at 4:30. Leave at 6:30. Flight leaves around 9. We get into Detroit at 10:38. We don't even leave there till 1:45 and finally arrive Orlando at 4:17. The Hotel is only a little over an hour away !!!:teeth:
o.k to answer your question.............my suggestion is to buy something just before you get on the airplane. MCdonalds or a salad anything you want they will wrap it up to go. Most airlines offer food that you can buy now. I do believe that they are subs though. I remember I had a long flight one time and got a chicken salad to go and as soon as we took off I took it out to eat. I felt really bad for the person sitting next to me. He just kept staring at my salad. ::yes:: I knew what he was thinking. It was the best chicken salad I ever had. It's ashame the airlines stopped serving food. We have to fend for ourselves. Tina

Bleh. I have so much to do tomorrow. I was suppose to do some stuff today, but just didn't have the energy. Had strange dreams last night about the ship... like.. the beds were only 2 inches apart and stacked on top of each other (don't ask...)
I need to finish packing, can't let DH do it.. he never packs right, I always end up doing it over again. I did however, manage to get my door sign printed! I was trying to explain why I was making them to DH's co-worker. I don't think she quite got it.
I have to do a whole week's worth of school work tomorrow for one of my courses. I made the mistake before of trying to upload my homework on a dial up connection.. it wasn't pretty! Besides, who wants to do HOMEWORK when you're at DISNEY!?
Anyways.. off to clean out the fridge! Fun, huh?

Linda - Bagels are a good thing... just make sure you have them sealed in *plastic* for the flight (as soon as they come out, they'll start drying out right off... it's amazing just how hard bread products can become, and how fast, in an airplane).
And whoever the other one is who's panicking about both school and packing... you're not the only one. I've got a presentation tomorrow, and I've got to try to hand in what's due next week as well (I don't think it'll happen in class, I think it'll have to be e-mailed either Wednesday or Thursday). I'm *not* having fun yet.
OTOH, I can't wait until we're actually on the ship and I can relax, knowing that I *can't* do anything about the housework, I'm *only* bringing a few children's books to read for my child lit class, no other homework (I hope... for me at least), and if we're on the ship, that means I didn't forget anything *important*.
Meanwhile, I've got at *least* through Friday night to continue my panic... um.. guess I ought to get back to finishing up the presentation stuff....

Hello All,
The day is almost here! We're done packing most things. Football and soccer is over, team parties over. We drive our dog to his pet lodge Wednesday afternoon, get the two older boys to karate, then drive to LAX and catch the red-eye out from L.A. nonstop. I hope the boys get some rest on the plane. We land in Orlando and head straight to BC resort. We booked concierge level in hopes of getting the rooms early so we can freshen up before we take off to MK.
The weather forecast looks good in Orlando not sure about the port. Only my oldest DS has a slight cough so hopefully we'll makle it through without any illnesses. Our weather here suddenly turned warm-back in the high 70's from being in the low 60's. This weather change has given my DW and I coughs and sneezes.
We've decided on Sunady 11/21 to rent a car and drive to the port early rather than wait for the transfer bus. Does anyone know if we can send luggage to the port with the disney bus since we paid for ground transfers - or is it best to keep luggage with us and tag it when we get to the port-any suggestions?
We're looking forward to meeting all of you tag buddies. Especially Tina, the bride-you've been so generous. We'll be the family with the Go Packers symbol. We want to wish everyone a wonderful, safe and blessed send-off. Everyone take care and get some rest.
Se ya'll at the terminal. Take care

Kinda like the airlines. If your not on the plane then your luggage can't be. I agree that you should rent a car. You will get there earlier. I would call DCL and see if you can cancel the transfer and try to get some kind of credit back now rather then after the fact. Good luck. Hope that helps. Tina

good morning all,
To all of you that are leaving soon, safe trip. Our flight leaves Saturday morning at 10:00. We've also been checking the weather looks great in the Bahamas, of course it is still a little early to be exact.
With the change in plans we were short with park tickets so last evening ran over to the Disney Store to pick them up. Stopped for dinner at the newly opened Cheesecake Factory; wouldn't recommend it - meal took forever to arrive, it was luke warm and not that tasty.
Dennis & Leslie, I agree that they probably won't let you drop the luggage off with the bus. You'll find it just as easy to drop at the terminal. Someone will take it right at the curb for you. We're renting a car from Budget. I'll drop the gals and luggage and then head over to drop off the car. When I come back either they will have a place for me in line or I will just check myself in. I think that is easiest. We don't intend to leave WDW until 11:00 or so. Probably won't see most of you in the terminal.
As soon as we get on the ship we're headed to the Palo dinner reservation line, will catch up with you around 3:15. I'll be wearing a UVa hat, DD will most likely be wearing something from UConn.
We're jealous of those who have the short countdown clocks! Safe trip.

Change in plans - my Uncle went to the Dr. and was told his arteries are really clogged again and he must avoid any strenuos exercise until he can be operated on, so he can't come and spend the day with us at Disney. It also means that he is not bringing us a car so we have had to rent a car to get from Disney to the port and then from the port to West Palm Beach when we get back. Hope all is well with everyone and I hope that everyone has a safe trip down.

Yikes Linda! Hope all goes well with your Uncle!
My mother in law called at 530 this morning... scared poor DH out of his mind.. to wish us a good trip.
Oh darn! I knew I was going to forget something... never made my little necklace mickey head! Regardless... I'll be the one with the Grumpy shirt and birthday pin at the port!
Hope everyone has a great trip!

I wish everyone a safe trip to Florida. I don't leave (from CA) until Fri morning.
I'm in nowhere close to finish packing. My packing list is made out, I bought all the stuff we need from the stores, and the clothes are all washed. They just need to all find their way into the luggages.
See you all on the WONDER!!

Hi Tina!
Thank God I have today to finish -- we leave tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. -- were able to move the trip up one day so that we won't be driving into the port from Hilton Head on Sunday morning. We're now arriving on Sat. a.m. (via Auto Train) and staying at the Yacht Club for one night.
Hope to arrive at the port at 11:00 on Sunday:Pinkbounc
Had to take today off (although just as well) because DS is home again sick. He was sent home from school on Monday and then was fine Tues. Wed. but threw up again last night -- stomach virus going around school. Hopefully the other 3 kids have stronger stomachs!!!!
Good luck with all of your last minute plans as you anticipate the BIG DAY!!!!!
Have a safe trip and hope to see you on Sunday:wave2:

Still around... hope everyone has an easy trip down who hasn't already made it to FL!
Still have to pack and do a half-a-million other things (um... fell asleep at 8:30 yesterday, before the kids did... didn't wake up until they did just before 8 today) before we get out of here, hopefully tonight.
At least I've a *little* time to play with, but we'd like to make it up to my parents' house tonight, rather than dealing with that *and* the airport tomorrow (not to mention the visiting time).
(I'm going to be taking a huge breath of relief once we're *on* the ship... because that will mean that I didn't forget *anything*, and all is done that needs doing... except Palo and spa ressies :-)

We finally made it back home at 1:00am this morning. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and is having fun on their last few days of vacation. It was great to meet everyone. Tina & I will be on that cruise - anyone else want to join us?
Tina - I hope the reception was wonderful. I will talk to you soon.

We got back in on thursday around 4ish. Hit the stores on friday morning, and it seems we've been shopping ever since!
It took me until today to stop feeling the movement of the ship... it was wild! And man.. I certainly didn't want to cook, not after having all of my meals prepared for me this past week!
Hope everyone else made it home ok!

We just got in 11:00 p.m. on Sunday night. Had a GREAT TIME!!! When getting ready to leave ship on Thursday morning, we recognized one of our local TV newsreporters (Karen Rogers from WPVI/Channel 6/Philadelphia) ... long story short, she invited us to join her as she reported Live from the Wonder at the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade. The kids were thrilled!!! We were lucky enough to get quick cell service, as we only had about 10 minutes notice and called home to have them tape it. She introduced us and then asked me who I wanted to send my hoiday greetings out to. We received a lot of phone calls after it aired and it was a wonderful way to end our cruise :cool1:
Off to the Polynesian for two nights and some Disney fun in the parks. We left on Sat. afternoon and spent the night in Disney's Hilton Head Resort -- what a nice place -- definitely have to visit their again!. Left H.H. this a.m. around 6:30 and headed home -- traffic in Virginia was a mess, but not too bad after that.
We're off to bed, as I have to work in the morning. I hope everyone had a great time. The brunch was so much fun and it was great meeting everyone. I hope you all have a great week ahead and try not to stress out during the holiday season :grouphug:

Hi everyone.... we got back Friday evening around 7:00. Dinner wasn't there to be selected off a menu, had to call for a pizza. Saturday Chris & I went to a Christmas tree farm and cut us a nice one, of course she selected one about 1/2 mile or so from the entrance and we had to carry it. At least the weather was nice and there wasn't snow on the ground to hike through.
Back to the real world yesterday, surprisingly the work e-mail wasn't overflowing. Mostly because it was only a three day week..... higher education does have some benefits.
We enjoyed the relaxing time and meeting all of you. Tina thanks again for using your coordinator to set up the brunch. The 8/19/06 cruise is a no for us, my busiest time of the year. Disneynotes, is everything okay - we could never find you on deck # 8?

Happy Holidays Everyone,
We got in LA on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. We stayed at the Raddison at Port Canaveral and did Kennedy Space Center, drove back to Beach Club to get the rest of our luggage and flew home Saturday. What a wonderful trip and it was so nice meeting Tina, Chuck and all the rest of you at brunch. Your're a wonderful group of people. Tina and Chuck thank you again for arranging our meet and we wish you and your children many years of happiness, wonderful health and Gods Blessings always.
This vacation was much better than we had hoped for. We would like to wish you all a restful, blessed holiday season. When you're in or near our part of the world please, look us up and our home is always open. Take care and God's Blessings to all.

Hello and Welcome Back to all! Hope everyone enjoyed the cruise. We had a lovely time and it took me about three days to stop swaying as I walked on solid ground. My extreme exhaustion could have contributed to the walking problem. We got back a couple of days ago after spending the weekend at the Poly and then a night in Tallahassee. I'm having a ball digging through the fun stuff we bought on the trip. I met Tina and Linda and her husband. Packers04, met your son in the elevator on the way to floor 8. Can't remember if that was the last night or the last morning.
I really miss the 24 hour soft drink/hot chocolate machine. Thinking of installing one-ha!
Happy December 1st to all!

We actually got back on Saturday night (via one night at Pop Century, touring various resorts, and drooling over decorations... especially the Beach Resort's carousel and the Boardwalk's display... Grand Floridian's house was nice, but too many ill-mannered folk had already tortured it, including two idiot children who were accompanied by an idiot parent who didn't take the hint when I commented loudly to my kids about how some people kept touching and damaging the display, and imagine how much nicer it was before people did that.. but Tea there was *great*).
BTW, *don't* do Thanksgiving Dinner at 'Ohanas... it was our one big disappointment... well, that and glancing at the window only to realize that we *just* missed the Floating Electrical parade (saw the last flag float out of sight :-( )
Still too busy to write anything up, maybe I'll still remember some after next Tuesday and my last class/final project.
BTW, Tina, your pictures were wonderful... *g* Still amused at how many times I ran into you and/or yours before I figured out who you were at Castaway Cay.
Loads of fun on the trip. I asked the kids if they were ready to head to Grandma's house, or if they'd rather spend a week at Disney. Surprisingly, they were ready to go home (even w/o hitting the parks, it was *too* crowded... and we knew the parks would be worse). Though after a minute or two of thought, Jamie piped up with "It depends on if we stretch the definition of "Disney" to include the ship. I'd rather go back on the ship for a week." ... guess he had fun... :D

Cozit:  I think it's also funny. Did your DH tell he ran into me when I was getting off the elevator in my wedding gown? I was just getting off the ship to get married. Sorry we didn't get a chance to spend more time with each other.
I have just started my Christmas shopping.......... How is everyone else doing in that department? Tina

Glad to hear everyone is still around and doing well. Tina, thanks for the card, it came out beautiful!!!
I so love Christmas, but am definitely feeling the stress!!!!
We're planning on giving our parents, brother's family and sister a trip to Disney this summer as a Christmas gift. Would love to take everyone on the cruise, but I can't imagine how much it would cost. I think we'll settle for a week at the Wilderness Lodge.
Happy Holidays to all and keep in touch!
