I'm not complaining, really, but I'm curious as to what you all think.

I work part-time (school schedule), and started last Sept. Started WW mid-Jan. Lost 43.5 lbs while working, til early June, and then took the summer off. Went back yesterday, only lost 14 pounds while I was off :(, and the comments I got were as if I lost the whole 57.5 in one summer! What gives? Did they not notice those 43.5 lbs while I was there? Mind you, I absolutely ADORED the comments. ::yes::

And, if they were being polite by not mentioning anything in the spring, why did they say anything now?! Really, I'm just curious what you think.

I guess I should take off more often. ;)

It's easier to see the weight loss in the summer when you aren't wearing the winter clothes, coats, etc.

Plus I think you get to a point in your weight loss where it's obvious that "something" looks different, so people will comment.

Enjoy it!:hyper: :hyper:

Kim, I think it's awesome that you've lost the weight. Here's my theory: When people see you every day - gradual weight loss isn't noticable. Since you were gone for a while and lost MORE weight, ta-da!, they noticed! Congratulations and I agree, comments like that - I just eat them up!

How wonderful for you that your co-workers are noticing and complimenting you. That must feel just great after all your hard work! Congrats on your loss!!!

I can relate to what you are saying. I ride the bus with the same people everyday. All winter I was covered up and even in the spring it wasn't all that warm. One day in the middle of the summer (more than 7 months into my weight loss), a lady exclaimed loudly for the whole bus to hear: "Wow, you've dropped a TON of weight! Did you have weight loss surgery? You must have to have lost all this weight in such a short period of time". I assured her that it wasn't a short period of time at all and that I had not had surgery. Like you said, it's funny how and when people chose to notice and/or comment on our weight loss. I guess we should just enjoy it! :)

I totally agree with Holly Ann. I have found that people who see you daily don't notice until they don't see you for a while and then it dawns on them that you look different. :teeth: Congratulations on losing all those pounds!!

I too agree with Holly Ann.............

Has anyone ever said to you "Wow has your child gotten tall" and your first reaction is really? - then you realize yes the pants and sleeves are shorter. Well you see the child everyday the other people don't.

Wow, you're all so right, I just hadn't thought about the winter clothes, as well as the kid's growing comments (I sure relate to that one as well)! ;)

A lot of times people who are with you on a daily basis are the last to notice any changes. My friend said something to her DH about the 60# I had lost and her DH said, "I didn't know she lost weight." And here is a guy that I saw once or twice a week for the whole year I was losing. I think because you had the summer off and came back even a little lighter the results were more dramatic for them. Can't explain why it happens, but it is very common.

Congrats on the loss.....enjoy those compliments, you deserve them!
