Any word on how the 75 Inspearations statues have been doing in the second round of cities?
I would have rated the Boston showing a failure. At least ten of the 15 statues there were damaged by vandals and removed long before the tour dates were completed.

the statues were here in denver two weeks ago: just happened to stumble across them running an errand. the mickeys were spread out an area called cherry creek north, a shopping/restaurant area by a large mall. there was absolutely no publicity about the statues, which suprises me. i have to mention that they were VERY spread out, and i didnt see a large group in one area. i saw what i could from my car, debated about going back with my wife, and we never return to view them. we decided we'd rather be viewing them at the entrance of disneyworld!

I had heard that they took a beating in Philadelphia. Someone had actually seen kids jumping on them. There weren't roped off or anything. I don't see how they could auction them off if they were damaged as badly as it sounds like they were. Maybe they'll be taking them to clean them up before the auctions.

I looked at them in KC this weekend, and they looked pretty good. Obviously, there were kids standing on the base, and sitting on the arm, for photos, but they seemed to be in good shape.

I was disappointed while in Boston at the end of June, several weeks before the end of the tour there. As Boston1029 mentioned, most of them had been pulled off display for repairs. I saw 6 of the 15, 3 in two different locations. There were two women with two kids each ahead of us as we waited to take pictures. At the first 3 statues, I bit my lip as I watched them let the kids climb all over them - no ropes around to protect Mickey and you could easily see the damage already inflicted. As we got to the display at the Aquarium, and the same kids were climbing all over them again - this time there were stansions and ropes, but you could still get close enough for pics - I spoke out and told them it was because of ignorant people like themselves that only 6 of the 15 were still on display. They got a little huffed, but I felt better.
They are now here in KC - it was all over the news, Mickey himself was here to kick them off, however the "grand opening" was a miserable day, pouring down rain. We didn't make it, but I heard there was a good crowd regardless of the rain.
We were going to go 2 weeks ago, but I was sidelined with some unexpected surgery, so we hope to go this Sunday. I'd like to see all 15 before they have to pull them due to damage again.
All 75 are supposed to come together again at Disneyland sometime late this year, before being shipped to NYC for the auction at Sotheby's in January (I believe).

It is actually pretty funny that when they were at disney they were ropped off and you could not get near them. But when they go to the individual cities it is a free for all. Go figure. "Actually I am from South Jersey very close to Phila and I did not even know that the statues were there.
I saw them in Feb. at WDW and they were really cute and I was wondering if they were going to make little ones for sale.

We have 15 of them here in Texas right now inside the new Gaylord Texan Resort. We went and saw them Saturday, they were inside the resort and looked like they were being well cared for.

That's good news, we hope to get down south to Texas and see them before they are gone.

does anyone know the actual dates that the statues will be at Disneyland? We have AP's, and are planning on making another trip before they expire. I would love to plan around the statues if possible.:teeth:

We were lucky enough to see all 75 Mickey's December of 2003 at WDW. It drove me crazy (all Mickey's were roped off) to see adults sending their children under the ropes to stand on or hang off the statues for pictures. Believe it or not adults did the same thing. Sorry to say I got a bit loud when I "explained" to my 24 year old daughter what those ropes were for and how sad it was that parents encouraged their children to disregard "rules" Needless to say there were a lot of people who were a tad upset with me.

I went and saw them last Saturday at the Gaylord Texan here in Dallas. They are in good shape, and 15 are displayed, but they did have kids climbing all over them. They are spread over the resort, and it is a nice walk around to view tham all.
Also, if you ask at the concierge desk, you get a nice map showing the location of all 15, with a neat poster on the other side.

We are from NJ also and just happened to come across them at Penns Landing in Phila. We had heard nothing about them being there. No, they weren't roped off or anything!!!!

Didn't matter a bit that they were roped off at MK. When I was down there in December I still saw parents letting their kids climb on the statues and go underneath the ropes. Are people just that ignorant or that stupid?

Both of course. (rhetorical question)
It's sad to hear this. We spent 20-30 minutes total looking at them at WDW last Dec, but didn't notice any of the behavior referred to here. But it was a slow time. Maybe the ignorant, stupid crowd comes closer to Christmas.
