If anyone is looking for 2-way radios Nissan is giving them away. Go to their website at www.nissandriven.com (http://www.nissandriven.com) and click on the link for the xterra. There is a certificate to print out. Take it to your local Nissan dealer and test drive a new xterra. The salesman needs to sign your certificate and give you a business card. Mail it in to Nissan and they will send you a pair of Cobra radios (a$90 value). It takes about 8 weeks for delivery.

Thanks so much for the info! I was recently in a car wreck and in the pandamonium left our Cobra radios in the car. Well, you guessed it. The tow truck driver or someone in the auto repair shop stole them and they were new. Our insurance would not cover the radios so, we had to eat it. Disgusting! Now thanks to you,we can replace them.

I already did my test drive (really nice car!), so I am eagerly anticipating those radios. If you don't need or want the radios you can get a really nice backpack instead.

Did it! I didn't like the vehicle. Too small and crampy (I love my minivan). I did, however, love the color... Just Blue ;)

Check with the law enforcement agency who handled the accident, if they did a 'vehicle inventory' on your car before it was towed, and the tow truck driver signed it, then you may be able to force the towing company to replace your radios. I am sure this depends on where you live and the particular law enforcement agency's policies, but it is worth a shot....

hope this helps!

Thanks for the great tip. I hope I can find a salesman that will just fill it out without the test drive too, LOL.

I'm going tomorrow! Hopefully will be able to get the radio's for our Oct. & Dec. trip. Although the 4 of us didn't separate much, they would be nice to have :)

SuperMom - check with your homeowner's policy - when I had things stolen from my car - my car insurance did not cover them, but my homeowner's insurance did. I don't understand why, but I was very grateful.

Thanks, Supermom! We already have great two-way radios (Motorola Talkabouts) and used them constantly on our last trip to WDW, and also while skiing. But the backpack also looks very high-quality, so it should be worth a test-drive, too. Thanks again!

Just got back from Nissan dealer. Nice little girl there(had to be about 18) filled out my certificate without making me take the drive!!! I am so psyched about the radios. I am going to make my in-laws get me the backpack too! I just mailed it and hope and pray they come before my May 18th departure.

THANK YOU SO MUCH - I LOVE THESE BOARDS!!Judi

I was so excited to read this post, and went to the website to print out my certificate, only to find out there are 2 states on the list that are void-MD and HI. So since I live in MD that leaves me out. Wanted these for our July trip. :(

I can't seem to get to the certificate. I go to the link and all I get is a pic of a car and no other leads. Any suggestions?

They aren't the kind that work well for WDW. They only have basic channels[up to 14].But they don't have the all important quelch feature or sub channels.

So everyone can ring you! and there are at least 12 or more people on all the channels. Most are Kids playing around, some are parents and grandparent trying to hook up after a ride or food run. BUT there are the OTHERS who are just rude nasty males.

We tried to use the radios but between the chatter and the lack of long range ability they weren't much use. And when they would have been only one radio would be on,the other person would be to busy to remember to turn it on!

So, if you want to use radios you will need a more high tech version.

What I saw in use most was cell phones. These seem to work much better. at least you know who you are calling!!
